VioletChaos Report post Posted December 22, 2010 When I read the list, this was the one, by far, that I was most excited about. *Fingers crossed* In the bottle: Super sweet apple cider. Like "Snow, Glass, Apples", with the snow element missing. Wet on skin: Ok, a little bit of a boozy edge is emerging at this point, and it's tempering some of the sweetness the apple notes invariably have. I can't decide yet if I like that or not Dry down: Yup, boozy apple, alright. This is definitely more applejack than country cider. In all: for those that were hoping for a slightly more "adult" apple scent, this may well be the one for you. I, personally, am unsure if I like the addition of the booze or not. I think I'll have to give it a few weeks and try again before I say for sure.
violetblue Report post Posted December 29, 2010 Apple with strong, dry champagne. "Better" champagnes (like Dom) are usually dry like this, but I am a cheap date and prefer my champagne on the sweet side. Super strong throw and as it dries it turns to boozy apple floral fabric softener on my skin. Like the above poster said, this is all Apple Jack and not apple cider, to my nose as well. I loved being able to get a chance to try this though.
jizatt Report post Posted January 3, 2011 I was really hoping for Champagne and apples, but I dont realyl pick up a champagne scent here. Not really a boozy scent either, but it is fizzy. I get a fizzy, fuzzy, apple scent. Im going to test it against my other apples to see which one I need to keep, but this doesnt stand out the way I wanted it to =(
Molls Report post Posted January 3, 2011 Out of the three Champagne scents that I was lucky enough to try, this is my least favorite. In the bottle, it's nice and apple-y, but on my skin I don't get a lot of apple, it's mostly just fizzy - with a soapy "feel" to it. A lot of of fizzy throw at first, but dries down to skin-level within about 15 minutes. Hmmm, jury is still out on this one...
kikithepirate Report post Posted January 6, 2011 I don't know what it is, but all of the NYE scents that I've tried (a fantabulous friend picked up bottles of Pink Champagne, Sparkling Apple Cider, and Champagne & Party Hats for me) smell soapy, and this one is the worst offender -- it's straight-up laundry detergent on my skin. The apple is there, but it just reminds me of apple-scented fabric softener or something. Disclaimer: I'm not a huge apple fan in general, but sometimes they surprise me, which is why I requested a bottle of this. But maybe hardcore apple fanatics might like it more than me! scrappy Report post Posted January 9, 2011 Champagne scents rarely work on me and this is no exception. Sparkling Apple Cider is mostly soap, with a hint of apple in the background.
angelicruin Report post Posted January 18, 2011 This is spot-on sparkling apple cider on me. Very fizzy and very apple-y.
gingiemay Report post Posted January 22, 2011 This smells like an apple note soap or air freshener... and I think that I have smelled a similar note in Yankee Candle. Apple notes don't often play well on my skin and this is no exception. In the imp this smelled a lot more effervescent and fizzy, so my guess is that this is a skin chemistry issue and others might get a very different experience. Geminirubyshoes Report post Posted January 23, 2011 I sadly have to add to the "this smells like laundry detergent on me" crowd. The fizziness disappears almost immediately and then I am left with this weird, apple fabric softener smell that just isn't good. I can't win all the time I guess. Maybe I will try it in the scent locket...
Little Bird Report post Posted January 25, 2011 This starts off as fizz and a hint of clean apple and quickly dries down to dry laundry soap powder and a hint of floral-y apple. Soapy and not so much on the apple or cider... this one only lasts about a half hour on my skin as well.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted February 14, 2011 This is the same crisp green apple note from Snow Glass Apples overlayed with a fizzy note. Slightly soapy, it also makes me think of Lush's So White scent. Except in perfume form. ... Which may mean I need more...
cfrancesca Report post Posted May 3, 2011 I get a very crisp apple, fizzy, clean scent. It does have a slight detergent tinge to it, which gets stronger the longer it's on my skin.
grrrlennyl Report post Posted May 11, 2011 Sparkling Apple Cider On: Cider so tart that I think I have to call it sour, like cider made from bright green Granny Smith apples. Eek! 1 hour in: So amazingly tart and bright. A bit powdery. 6.5 hours in: Powdery, tart apples. Overall: This is a really pretty scent, not very bubbly, but nice. Deceitfuldescender Report post Posted June 13, 2011 I apparently amp champagne notes like crazy. So on initial application I get the wonderful tart green apple. The further it dries though, the most sparkling I get and the less cider. I think I may have to try this in a scent locket-- cause I love the scent of the apple! aleciarivas Report post Posted August 25, 2011 For some reason this smells very metallic on me, maybe it's the 'sparkling' edge of the scent. I don't care to smell like metal so this one goes.
Invidiana Report post Posted September 6, 2011 I used to drink sparkling apple cider on New Year's Eve as a teenager in lieu of real champagne and I have to say the scent is DEAD ON. I'm glad the apple note here is not too sweet but has a tart edge coupled with that glorious fizz that Beth does so well. This is not only yummy but also nostalgic for me. Alshneato Report post Posted September 29, 2011 Very fizzy- I can smell the apples but this turns into soap on me... my BF loves it though!!
AEris Report post Posted November 22, 2011 I didn't read reviews before trying this scent, so I was fairly surprised that this wasn't a cloying sweet scent like the Martinelli's that we have around during the holidays. It starts out crispy and green, with the fresh apple scent from Snow Glass Apples, and the fizzy Champagne note from the Champagne blends. The soapy champagne note fades fairly soon for me. The apple becomes warmer, yet still fresh. It's a gorgeous apple scent and I'm very glad that I have a 5mL!
Gin Report post Posted May 21, 2012 Sparkling Apple Cider is definitely sparkly, but too dry (and almost metallic?) for me.
ModderRhu Report post Posted December 16, 2014 I love the lab's champagne note. it's amazing how it really smells carbonated. this is sweeter than most of their champagne blends. it smells more like virgin sparkling apple cider to me. it may also have a little ginger and lemon in it. thankfully no cinnamon. I've been dealing with a sinus infection for like a month now, and I often feel nauseated. smelling this makes me feel better. it might be really great to wear to bed when my nausea is at its worst. RoseThornAndOak Report post Posted September 17, 2023 I was so very graciously frottled this, and it came out of stash-hiding recently and has been siting on my desk for about a week or so. Then I saw the weenie update with Pumpkin Spice Champagne so figured it is time. Well this is pretty. It doesn't smell exactly like a sparkling apple cider you would find in the store. This is definitely Lab champagne notes, like in Bon Vivant and others, very aldehydic and bubbly. Sweet, definitely, yet crisp. It has an apple edge, I'm not getting anything too tart and green, but I dunno, just apple. It pretties up into more of a perfume/skin-wearable blend and is not hyper realistic or candle/air freshener like at all. Then notes blend to create something even more-so, almost like if there was a facial hydrosol but slightly apple rather than floral. So refreshing, I like it!
