Possets Halloween

Mini-breakdown.....   $10,00....."A dry masculine and memorable scent featuring a smooth yellow amber, bay, bay wood, a drop of tobacco flower, a very tiny amount of lavender". Sounds good but just doesn't grab me. I dunno, Possets are so inexpensive it might be worth a try. I do like dude-fumes, and I like bay. We'll see.   301...."a multiplicity of my favorite musks and cashmeran". Not much to go on there. Could be good, I looked up cashmeran and all I could find is that it's a synthetic musk. Moving on for now....   Black Hole...."Vetiver and black pepper, lavender and earth, a "black" patchouli, a slight slight slight bit of tarragon". Again, sounds okay but not shouting out "buy me, buy me!". I'll watch reviews and keep it on my list for consideration. The more I think about it, this could be a good one, but I do have a few scents like that already. I never even wear Void Moon or Winter Solstice, which I should because they're both really great scents.   Dank...."sweetbriar makes an appearance lending it's zest to the whole, while root oils hold the bottom half down, particularly vetiver and ginger. There is a splash of booze and a few autumn plums in the mix to give it an air of being a luxurious rest rather than drippy". This sounds good too, unless it has that galbanum-like note that Fabienne has been using lately. I don't like it and it could be one of the 'root oils' mentioned. I'll have to sniff this before risking a whole bottle.   Dark...."A thick and perfumy blend with a heavy dose of Frankincense to start off, black musk and fig. No greenery with it but a good layer of an almost burnt sugar and an animalic undercurrent which somehow becomes very light and sweet when breathed out". This sounds appealing....yet again.....could have that green rooty note that I don't like. Maybe I should just ask her what it is?   Phantome...."A very light and transparent scent with a subtle amber as a base, Sicilian lemon zest, a drop of cognac, and the tiniest amount of menthol (you really would not notice it if you were not looking)". Okay....getting more and more promising....this sounds pretty good. Sounds kind of sophisticated and ethereal. We'll see.   Specter...."Amber and fennel, put together in a thoroughly unexpected way". Now we're cooking with gas....this sounds really interesting, and it's high up on my list of what to seek out and at least sniff first.   Spirit....."A strong dark chypre with a lot of incense and resin to it. Frankincense, myrrh, copal, fir resin, and labdenum. Yet this is a certified Western European chypre. It is lovely, dry and captivating. Neither warm nor cold, like a spirit with a 10,000 mile stare". Oooooh, this sounds really great. This has the most potential for an unsniffed purchase. I could always use another good fir scent. The only thing holding me back is if this were major dude-fume, which can be a turn-off. I like butch but there's such a thing as too butch. Possible bottle?   That's all I got for now. I skipped the kitties because they will be at the Possets/OAR party at Fabienne's studio, and I'll be able to test first. I'll report back on those.

Tasty tomato sauce...

Would anyone like DIY Vulva Coinpurse instructions? No thanks   Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind? LIke I said previously, I like light thin material scarves that I can tie in my hair. I've got really fine hair, so things that don't pull and tug on my hair are really great. =) As for colour, black is best, because I usually change my hair colour a lot and usually to non-natural colours.   Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense? Nah, but if it's x-rated, tasteful is best, coz I'm not a porn fan.   In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer(the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats? Wrist warmers and half gloves maybe? But like I said, it's coming into summer here.   How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories? I do a bit of that myself actually, so I like it a lot! I'd actually love some books on the subject, if you know of any good ones. (in particular, t-shirt surgery, because I have LOTS of Threadless.com tees and I need to make them more interesting. Or convert them into tank tops)   What is your favourite habitat and climate to live in? How about to visit? (ie. forest, canyons, mountains, by the beach; temperate, tropical...) Temperate forest, mountains, etc. Not too cold and not too hot/sunny. I hate the sun because I'm so white (I know, bad idea living in Australia!) but I live in the southern most area of the country so it's pretty good. I also LOVE very tropical climates at night. When I was in Malaysia for owrk, we only had free time in the evenings and even though it was 35-40 degrees, the lack of sun meant it was bearable and actually really nice.   is there anything you would like from Conjure Oils general catalogue or the new updates that isn't already on your wishlist? I've never tried Conjure Oils. And I probably shouldn't, what with my BPAL and Villainess addictions...and now being pointed in the direction of VM.   What do you wish you could make/craft if you had the know-how and supplies? Specifically, which particular items? Silversmithing. I did a silversmithing course a few years ago and loved it, so I'd really like to have the equipment and knowledge to do that. There's also silver clay that comes in sheets, I think it's called PMC, and there's one type that just needs a propane torch to fire, but I've not been able to find it. Divine L'homme Sage

Notes: saffron, mandarin, cardamom, lychee, aromatic woods, immortelle (or everlasting flower), patchouli, oak moss, amber, incense   This smells good, but it's kind of a hyper-dude-fume to me. I admit that it softens somewhat after it's been on the skin for a little while. I love this kind of scent, but this particular one is just not for me. It smells good but it's way too butch for my liking. It's warm and woodsy, a little spicy, just a little powdery amber, and something almost like leather which might be saffron playing tricks on my nose.   Frank Los Angeles 2 is my go-to scent for woods and spices, and luckily I have a full bottle of that, so I don't need more of this.   Edit: This does sweeten up considerably after a few hours, and I think what I'm smelling now is mostly the immortelle and incense. It's much nicer now but takes a long time to get there.

9/17/10 Are there any particular movies, tv shows or cd’s that you’ve been meaning to buy for years but just never got round to getting? Would you mind a gently used dvd/cd if your witch had it or could get it?? I would love to get the English version of the Office on DVD. There are a bunch of English TV series that I enjoy to have on DVD, including any Midsomer Murders, Shameless, Cold Feet, or Coupling (especially episodes not available in the US). For music, I have some CDs on my Amazon.com wish list, and used would be fine.   Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after? Oh boy, is there! Actually, I've never ordered from them, but have received a few imps in swaps and have liked them. I have been contemplating placing a Possets order for a quite a while. What time is it?

*kids yell* It's CONDIMENT TIME!!!!   *announcer/host* That's right kids, and you too can get something really keen and nifty from your Witch if you just answer those questions! So get your clickers ready, here goes!   Is there anything you want from the Violette Market update? I would /love/ a backup bottle of Miss Julia Star. Other than that, Witch's Apple looks /really/ interesting. A sample of Golden Autumn wouldn't be amiss, either.   Who likes hair toys, and if so what kind? Okay, the first time I saw this question, I had just read the comment about 'no to the Vag-eye-na but if it were actually furry I'd put it in with the stuffed animals and pet it' and totally went and thought 'If I wanted a hair toy I'd just collect my hairbrush leavings for a week..' Then I read someone who answered correctly and went OH. HAIR TOYS. /SO/ much more sense. I did have some hair forks on my etsy wishlist, but after getting one from COGnitive Creations I am apparently totally inept at getting the fork to keep my hair bunned like I originally had it. So no hair forks, but hair sticks are always appreciated. Barrettes are nice too. I also like the leather hair ties and hair spiral thingys I found at the Renfest a couple years ago, but don't wear b/c my hair has grown too long for the things I have. (A 'tail' of a couple inches I can deal with. Half a foot or more just looks silly.) Hair combs I've always had a problem with b/c my hair is straight and fine and things fall right on out. I use Scunci metal-free elastics, and am curious about these hair screws I keep hearing about. *pauses to look at hairsticks on Etsy* Oh, and I have no idea how to put my hair up in a chignon, so those type of pins are also likely lost on me. *looks more* *shudders* No hairsticks made from antlers, please.   Does any art we may send need to be child safe, either in the actually safe sense or the non X rated sense? SO SCARY.), Hellsing, and Darker Than Black. (oh yeah, and Trigun.) I have the mangas of AS, the first of Gravitation (and the entirety of Gravitation FX, and the voice collections/soundtracks), and Magic Knight Rayearth. Would like the mangas of Hellsing, the rest of the original Gravitation, Trigun and DTB.   Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Flavored blacks/greens? I used to be really into tea, but I've been drinking coffee for a few years now. I'm pretty open except that I hate fennel, anise, and slippery elm. I don't like artificial flavours, like "raspberry" tea that tastes like "raspberry" and not raspberry. If that made any sense.

Used is fine!   Is there anything from the Possets' Hallowe'en update you're lusting after?   Nope, I don't pay attention to non-BPAL.   Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?)   I used to love My Little Ponies, so a cute altered one (especially star-themed) would be fun. I also have a (replica) Blythe and wouldn't mind something cute for her - she's neglected and in her original outfit.   Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses?   Never tried any of them!   Anne Taintor, anyone?   Some of them are pretty cute!   If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist?   I tend to like rather skinny (no wider than 8") and long-ish scarves.   Don't like scarves? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste?   A shawl would also be nice, I prefer the smaller shawlette types that one can wear as a scarf since a full shawl isn't really my style.   How do you feel about recipes?   I love them! Even if I never try them they're fun to think about, and I do need more favorites. Veggie friendly please, of course.   What kind of a cook/baker are you?   Most of the time I just throw something together for dinner because I don't want to spend too much time. I do like to cook, but I often don't have time or want to go to the effort - especially cleanup! - just to feed one person so I'll make something simple. Probably not knick-knacs.   Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to?   I'd like the second Bones book, Death du Jour, I read the first and I have the third but not that one (oh, used book stores...)   Do you read mangas/watch animes? Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them?   Nope!   Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like?   Of course, things picked by my witch are very special, and half the time at least I have no idea what I would like.   If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes?   Of course!   OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns?   I adore socks. I have about a billion handknit ones that I've done, and a few from friends. I also like cute cotton socks, especially with stars or Halloween ones. I generally stick with regular length or little anklets... I have very muscular calves and have trouble finding any taller ones that fit well.   How do people feel about word magnets?   I have a set on my fridge, but I rarely do anything with it. Right now it has my sister's "poetry" from when she visited last.   If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be?   I love the cloak that Christina Ricci wears when she's riding the horse in Sleepy Hollow - I want that. picture here   How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? I've never tried anything from Possets before, but Wraith, Gypsy Grave, and Naked Lady look nice, based on the descriptions?   Would you like a custom/altered toy either from a seller or from your witch (like My Little Pony, or a Barbie or any particular toy that can be changed?) I'm not sure? Do you like the candy apple, candy corn or pumpkin spice kisses? As in Hershey's kisses? I don't do Hershey's. But I can always give them to people here who do!   Anne Taintor, anyone? How do you feel about silly, funny knick-knack, dollar store stuff, stickers, magnets etc? Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? I have lots of knick-knacky stuff, so I don’t need much more, but I do love magnets and stickers are always fun. Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? I tend to pick up books quite often, but the one that I haven’t gotten yet, and really would like to read are the Loon Lake Fishing Mysteries, a series by Victoria Houston. I promise not to buy any of these. Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them? Not only do I not read/watch them, I’m not even sure what they are so I’ll pass on them. Are you open to receiving things that are not on your wishlist, maybe something your Witch thinks you might like? Absolutely! My wislist is just to give you ideas of the kind of things I like. I’m sure that if you think I will like it, I will. If you have something on a wishlist that we could craft INSTEAD of buying, though it might not end up identical to the wishlist thing, would it be okay to craft it instead? Obviously we don't want to copy anyone else's design, but if we can replicate the flavour or intent that you like without stepping on toes? I would love it! Knowing that you made it yourself would make it extra special! OK, I know that lots of folks love socks. Do you have a preference of length? Materials? Patterns? Love socks!!! (I'm thinking of things like temp tattoos, make up, things that make noise, or anything else that might be bad for non-obvious reasons.) Things like fanfic recs, cat macros, mp3s you are looking for, how-to or amusing videos, things like that Can’t really think of anything. But I do like to be amused, so if you come across funny videos or cartoons I would probably enjoy them. What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang) I went to a restaurant once and had the best meal of my life. Lobster fettuccine alfredo. I’m a pretty good cook and have been able to duplicate a lot of things I’ve had in restaurants but never this one. To go with it some garlic cheese bread and for desert, I make strawberries that are stuffed with a cheesecake type filling and then dipped in chocolate. To drink, I’m sorry, I’m just not a big drinker and good wines and such are wasted on me so I’d like a really big coke with no ice to water it down. NaNoWriMo? I should, but I don’t. I’m taking a writing class right now in the hopes that my writing will get better.

Notes: cedar crystals, wood sap, black thyme, oak, immortelle, beeswax, silver birch, rum absolute and tonka bean   I'm getting mostly sharp woods, verging on sour like patchouli sometimes does to me. I can sense thyme, just a little. I like woody scents but lately I've been more in the mood for something a little sweet and spicy. Maybe because it's almost fall? I like Chene but won't be hunting down more. I'll keep my sample in case my scent moods change again back to more intense woods.

9/16/10 If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? Wide and long would be awesome, or skinny and long.   Don't like scarves? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste? Either one would be okay!   How do you feel about recipes? I LOVE new recipes   What kind of a cook/baker are you? I would say casual cook but sophisticated baker. I love doing both though, and my stuff is usually pretty good if I do say so myself!   Are you happiest calling for delivery or microwaving a lean cuisine, Or will Food Network be asking you to host their new program? I would rather cook than get delivery, but I do occasionally eat out or eat prepared stuff.   If I send you something home made would you like the reciepe for it? If you want to share it, of course!   If you are someone who doesn't want baked goods sent, would you like a collection of some of my favorite recipes? But it's coming up to summer here, so lightweight fabric scarves (still thin) are better because I use them to tie up my hair. It's Australia....think tank tops and thongs! (thongs are shoes...get your mind out of the gutter!)   How do you feel about recipes? Sure, but a lot of ingredients have different names here, and there are different measurements too. (a US tablespoon is not the same as an AU tablespoon, for example)   What kind of a cook/baker are you? An experimenter, I guess. But the house I live in at the moment doesn't have an oven. So any baking would have to be at my parents house.   Are you happiest calling for delivery or microwaving a lean cuisine, Or will Food Network be asking you to host their new program? And are there any notes you have never tried, but think would work well on you? Ambers, lighter musks, with a dash of heavy floral - deep rose, narcissus, lavendar, lilac, etc.. Bay rum seems to work really well on me, and vanilla bourbon, too. I tend to like the resinous scents best - they last on my skin the longest.   Would you like a sugar skull decorated by your witch? Or do you like sugar skull stuff in general? I...don't know. I've never gotten sugar skull stuff before!       1st October   Is there one scent that is your goto for comfort on a bad stressful day? Like the perfume equivilent of a security blankie? Not really, although I'm thinking that my imp of Marquis de Carabas (heavy on the bay rum!) is rapidly becoming it. If I were to knit a scarf, would you prefer a skinny one, or a wide one? A short one, that when wrapped once around your neck will just tuck under your jacket, or a long one, at least to your waist? Would a rectangular shawl or triangular shawl be more to your taste? I do like scarves! But a shawl would be gorgeous as well. Dear Witch, please don't feel that such an amount of effort is necessary. It would be stellar, true, but that's a lot of effort, and I hope you are taking time to allow yourself to be spoiled by your Witch as well(because you are awesome and deserve it).   How do you feel about recipes? Recipes are wonderful jump off points for culinary creativity.   What kind of a cook/baker are you? I am the kind of cook/baker who comes up with spur of the moment things, or adds in an interesting ingredient on a whim. All right i have been poked. today was traumatic so i am behind on most things. But i think the question you want answered is the whole kidlets costume thingy. i am nto against it, i am really leaning towards make both of them faeries or princesses. I haven't gotten stuck on EITHER yes but that the lean. if you want to send them something for it then Go on, if they dont' end up with it for their costumes i am sure it will be put to use in their dress up clothes.   i am not really up to anymore tonight. I will try to do better tomorrow.

Would you like receiving that kind of stuff or rather not? I love little gifts, so kind of. Magnets are fun and as are stickers, but I have very little space for general knick-knacks. Is there a specific book you've been wanting to get but haven't found the time or the opportunity to? There's probably more than one, but right now I'm really interested in reading the Hunger Games YA series. I tend to get books from the library, but all the libraries here have, srsly, like 29 holds on these books, so it's not likely I'll get them anytime soon! Do you read mangas/watch animes? Which ones? Do you have a particular favourite? Would you like to receive managas or anything related to them? I know nothing about manga, but have always liked the idea....I just don't even know where to start. So if you see anything you think I might like, I'd try it! I like dark fantasy, and sci-fi, and I love animal things...In fact, if anyone is knowledgeable about manga they may know if there are kitsune manga....I've thought there MUST be given how much animal stories are part of Japanese culture, but I wouldn't even know where to begin to look. I know I love graphic novels and memoirs, and have been lusting over the Pride and Prejudice with zombies, and the general collection of zombie comics, but really, I'd be so interested. I've read all the Sandman series and have Gaiman's wonderful book...name is escaping me now....that features Kitsune....it's a collaboration with a Japanese artist...Dream seekers? Something like that. Anyway, stuff like that would be very fun for me. How do people feel about word magnets: I enjoy them, but I have several sets with no place to put them, so probably don't need more. If you could have any costume, or if you aren't into costumes, necklace or other accessory, from any movie character, what would it be? I don't think i have an answer to this one.... How do you feel about samples/decants of things other than BPAL? Soap slices, lotion/scrub/shower gel decants, single use make-up/beauty products, etc. LOVE them! Great for travel, and fun for general sampling. What are you guys going to be aiming for in the Inquisition? Or do you just plan on ordering individual items? I'm not sure that I'm going to order anything as things are tight moneywise with SW and with a whole bunch of dog related expenses. Most of the stuff is expensive, so I absolutely don't expect my witch to get me anything from it, but if I do decide to order anything, I'll post it in the SW thread so there is no possible overlap. I think the thing I'm MOST intrigued by is the Tricksy bath oil, and the Ginger Skulls perfume, though I suspect I would only like a partial of Ginger Skulls.     9/14/10 Chocolate or other types of candy? Chocolate. Or other candy! I don't crave chocolate in the way some people do, because I like savory things more than sweet, but I do LIKE chocolate....esp if it is paired with savory (say peanut butter or caramel or chile or something exotic). And I LOVE fancy truffles but never can justify buying them for myself. And then I love plain old reeses. I am also partial to Smarties that come out at this time of year. But really, my big love is caramel....esp. sea salt caramels. For tea drinkers, do you prefer loose leaf or tea bags? I like loose tea best,but I'm ok with bags. If you would enjoy something of a knitted persuasion, do you have a preference on type of thing? Since making a scarf for someone who has 10 might be a smidge excessive? Also, how do people feel about shawls? Oooh...anything would be wonderful! I have a favorite black cashmere scarf, but I'd be happy to have other soft scarves! I haven't worn a shawl much, but I could see great uses for it--on the plane, while hanging out on the couch (my house isn't terribly warm in the winter). Socks would rock my world, esp. kind of slippery socks. armwarmers or fingerless gloves would be cool! (or fingered ones, come to think of it!) Is there a TV, movie or literary character that you are a lot alike, or would like to be alike? Is there anything you need for your kitchen, ie measuring cups, spoons, grater, ect? I need a good cork screw, but they aren't that cheap, so....What else? Clicker training videos for dogs, What would your last meal be if it could be anything in the world (sky is the limit, drinks too, the whole shebang) Oh, so hard! Because a part of me says go for what I loved best....pizza! But I think if it were last meal, I'd have filet mignon with lots of salt and chipotle pepper, asparagus, some good bread and flavored butter, the best damn pinot noir I could find, and creme brulee for desert.
