Switch Witch questions & answers!

******9/12-13*****   What's something you're really looking forward to in the semi-near future? Having a nice dinner with my DH on our one year, and hopefully finding another job.   What fictional character do you most identify with and why? I was, when younger, a lot like Usagi Tsukino, and I probably still am, just as she got older in the series. (for those not in the know, Usagi is Sailor Moon) She was a bit of a cry baby, but she was always there for a friend. She would do anything to see them happy, and she befriended 4 girls who were loners. I would do anything for my friends and I try to make friends with everyone, especially when they seem lonely and just need someone to talk to. I feel she's also very empathetic, and I am extreamly empathetic, to a fault sometimes!   Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? Yes please!! 7 would be nice, it is my favorite number!   As a witchee, would you prefer to have many little packages sent to you throughout the round with a not-so-big final package or fewer things throughout the round with one huge final package to seal the sweetness? This is totally up to my Witch, I understand shipping stuff is not cheap, so what ever they are able to do will make me happy   What is your idea of the perfect evening at home? Hubby gone for the evening! Curl up on the couch with a good book, a pot of tea and a snack of some sort. A lovely bubble bath and then a massage when DH comes home   Are you on any social networks (MySpace, Twitter, LJ, Facebook, Bebo, etc)? If so, make with the links! Are you open to new friends? Posted them earlier in the threads, but you can find me at Autumns_lioness for LJ and Stephanie Cardwell-Clitheroe for FB   What kind of socks? Any kinds!!! I've never had a pair of hand knit socks before and they are something I would LOVE to have!   How often do you update your wishlist? Usually when I'm on the site, I try to do it often enough. I'm going to be doing an overhaul of items soon. ish.   May I help you fill out your costuming wardrobe (assuming you costume)? Are there articles you are seeking to enhance your a) Halloween costume, Renfest attire, c) Cosplay, d) Steampunk accouterment? I need a pink pill box hat for my Hallowe'en costume, but I think I need to use the same material for the hat as my dress. I do need white gloves that go up just past the wrist, and I'm always open for flow-y shirts or pouches or the like. I'm also interested in hair clips for short hair, I recently got a bob, and having something to clip in that looks interesting would be awesome! (i'm fond of feathers)   So, who has a store or ETSY shop or knows of a shop of a fellow BPALer that everybody needs to check out? Sadly no   Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods? I love Art Nouveau, and Mucha, but other then that, i have no idea... I like art though, but I tend not to like the stuff that looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old. (no offense meant by that!!!)   What's your stance on cranberries? Yum!   Do you mind receiving used (in good condition, of course) CDs or DVDs? (I know this question was on the questionnaire about books, but I didn't see one for DVDs or CDs.) Used, Burned, on a jump drive, it's all good!   Do you have a crush on anyone famous? Do you have a crush on any literary characters? Would you like fanfiction or fan art based on this/these people? I'm really hot for Jackson Rathbone, Joe Anderson, Alan Rickman, David Bowie and Gary Oldman right now!   As for literary characters, I adore Harry Dresden and his brother Thomas. There are also many more but I can't think right now. I tend to crush for a while then crush on someone else, then remember the first guy, then find someone else, then remember the second one, and then the first one....   Fanfiction on the literary characters would be neat, I love fanfiction! (slightly obsessed with twilight fanfiction at the moment...)   You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab? I usually grab popcorn, or crackers with something like apple butter (I ADORE apple butter mmmmmmm, or cream cheese with red pepper jelly. Sometimes I'll grab pretzels, or chips. I tend to like different flavours of chips though. I HATE sour cream flavoured chips (sour cream and anything) Sometimes I'll grab pocky, I also like gold fish!   Do you have a favorite bpal bottle art? I like the Shungas, and the Lilith lables.   Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? I might be interested in the Hell Gates of Ireland, but I think other then that, I've signed up for a decant circle for all the others that interest me

Switch Witch questions & answers!

******9/14*****   What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it? It gets cooler, the nights are way cooler, the leaves start to change, the air is crisp, the leaves are changing colour, there's magic in the air of the changing season, and it's beautiful! What do i hate about it? It's too bloody short!   What's your favorite product(s) at Trader Joe's? Never been, but highly interested in anything!   If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, Robot Chicken, Castle, L&O SVU, ANTM, Food Network, M*A*S*H, How I Met Your Mother, maybe a dvd, lately DH and I are really into WKRP in Cinncinati!   Any Amy Brown art fans? meh...   How do you feel about Halloween music? (mix CDs, what have you) Not really my thing.   Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland? Me!   Is there a store that you love which does not have a location near you (but that has a physical presence somewhere, not just online? Why do you love it so much? Not that I can think of, let me get back to you on that one.   Lolcats....yeah or nay? Yes!   What is your favorite creepy folk story or legend? Sleepy Hallow is the only one that comes to mind.... I don't really have a favorite to be honest!   If your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both? I prefer to read myself, but if it were a scary story it would be neat to have someone who can story tell well reading it!   If you had the funds to comission an original painting for yourself, what would it be of? What would it be like- colors, size, style? When I first read this I thought it said original painting OF yourself, not for. In any case... I was reading Dresden Files: Small Favor this morning and finished a part where a woman is bathing herself in front of the fire, and you can see her from the back, with her shirt piled around her waist. That image has stuck in my head all day, and I think it would make an amazing painting. A fairly large size, all in golds and reds and oranges, with her looking side long over her shoulder at you. It is just beautiful in my mind.

Answers for my Witch

Dearest Witch:   I'm putting my SW thread answers (so far) here for your benefit. Also, I'll be updating my questionnaire with more helpful info. Or at least I'll try to.   Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? Yes. I prefer using all-natural, non-toxic, bio-friendly products for just about everything, if possible.   If you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushins, jewelery making supplies, beads, etc.? I'm so non-crafty! No supplies needed...unless you want to send me pipettes for decanting BPAL!   What's your favorite pain-relief remedy or ritual? Depends what it is. For medical reasons, I have a really hard swallowing pills, so Advil and Tylenol are usually out (unless they're in liquid form). I find a hot bath, sleep, and a heating pad along with exercise/stretching/yoga for body aches/pains will work on most things.   Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? Windchimes and the sound of rolling waves -- my favorite two sounds in the world. Even better when they're together. Also the sound of my puppies as they ran down the hallway. It sounds like a herd of wild Shih Tzu elephants, but their happy noises make me soooo happy!   When you receive your SW packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? I kind of prefer when people use less wrapping products -- it's better for the environment.   Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. I really don't want tea. I have so much tea that people gift me, and I don't drink most of it because I'm really extra-super picky about my tea. Please don't send me tea. Or socks -- I don't want socks. Also, I don't want anything with caramel in it. Caramel is soooo grossss!!!   What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why? See my wishlist. The ones with asterisks (*) are the ones I haven't tried and desperately want to because they're impossible to find! The one I loved and can't find more of beyond the few drops I got is Three Jacks. I love it so much.   I know we're all scent sensitive here. What are your favorite non-perfume smells? Day in the life stuff? Restaurant smells -- when you walk by a restaurant and want to walk in because the smell coming out of it is so yummy. Also, there's a store here in town that always burns incense, and when I walk by it, it smells awesome. I love the smell of a snowy winter morning and I love the smell of the ocean, particularly in the morning or late at night. The scent of my freshly-bathed dogs. I love kissing their little clean and powder-fresh furry faces!   Coffee drinkers, what types of beans to you like? Kona, Sumatra, Kenya..etc. How do you like them roasted? Do you like flavors, such as hazelnut, vanilla, etc. in your coffee? I am not picky about the type of bean. I prefer light-roast coffee. However, I don't have a coffee maker at home, so I don't want to receive coffee unless it's a Starbucks GC.   Who has a birthday falling in this round? Not me!   For those of us who like chocolate, do you like anything /in/ your chocolate, like fruit, nuts, or for the more daring among us, chilies? I like cherries, chilis, and orange/orange peel in my chocolate. I really like unique chocolates with things like beets, bacon, and saffron in the chocolate. I only eat dark chocolate, and the more exotic, the better. Vosges is an excellent brand of chocolate.   Are there any childhood shows/movies/games/books/etc. that still hold a really special place in your heart? Books I'd love to read again: Beat the Turtle Drum, The Gammage Cup, Those Miller Girls, the entire Little House on the Prairie series Books I have read again: A Diamond in the Window, How the Red Fern Grows, The Bridge to Terabithia Movies from childhood that I love: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz   Super power? My first answer was that I want to be invisible. But really, I've been thinking about it and I want to be immortal. It drives me crazy that I won't get to see what the world's like in 100 years, 200 years, etc. I really want to stick around forever.   If I send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? Pre-ground spices. Please don't send coffee.   For the tea and coffee drinkers: Opinion on tea- and/or coffee-related accessories/etc? (Teaware, sugar crystals, infusers, tea chests, etc) Accessories sound like fun! Yes, please! Especially things like artisan rock sugars and honey sticks (I really want to try blackberry honey sticks, lavender-infused honey sticks, and other flavors of honey sticks. Mmmm!)   How do you take your coffee (or tea)? Black or with cream and/or sugar? I like my coffee like I like my men: white, sweet, and creamy. Ha ha ha ha ha!   Restaurants you'd like a gift certificate to on Restaurant.com? Bonefish Grill, Mimi's Cafe, P.F. Changs, Pei Wei   In your perfect world it is chocolate and...? In my perfect world, it's vanilla. It's chocolate only if there's no vanilla.   How do you scent your home: tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? Yes, all of the above. Nene's Kitchen Melts are the wax tarts I prefer. They're amazing! I love WoodWicks candles. I have yet to find a reed diffuser that works really well.   What's your favorite dessert treat? Ice cream? Cake? Pie? Fudge brownie cake with pie flavored ice cream on top? Cake. White cake with white frosting. LOTS of white frosting. I don't eat chocolate cake and I rarely eat brownies or fudge. Too chocolatey.   Do you believe we control our destiny, or does our destiny control us? Both.   What one thing that is missing from your life would you like to have above all else? Skinniness   What was your favouritest job ever, and why? The job where I've been working for the past 8 years. I love it because the work stays interesting, I'm continually challenged, I am respected, I have responsibility, I have a great boss, my coworkers are fun/intelligent/competent/capable and we're all friends, we've got a fully stocked kitchen for breakfast and lunch daily, and in highly profitable years they take us on fun trips to Mexico. What isn't there to love?   Which three albums would you take to your apocalypse bolt hole and how would you power the generator? Three albums: Hounds of Love by Kate Bush, Finally Woken by Jem, Us by Peter Gabriel (if I could take four, I'd bring The Joshua Tree by U2) Powering the generator: I'd rely on my husband to do it   What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? New Orleans   Any cooks? Could you use anything cooking related? Aprons? Cookbooks? Measuring Cups? Recipes? Herb/Spice containers? Fancy Spices? Dish Towels? Cocktail napkins? Amazing Beaded Pot Holders? (like from our very own Pottersville! ) Something else? I can always use the cookbooks I have on my amazon wishlist. I love holiday-themed dish towels and kitchen decorations. I love fancy spices!   Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? Yes. I'm reading all the time. I generally read about 2-3 books a week. I'm currently reading the Ender series by Scott Orson Card and loving it. Most recently, I read the Sookie Stackhouse books and loved them. I also am enjoying the Women of the Otherworld series. I love quality literature, but I also love trash fiction. I'm not snobby about literature. I have nothing to prove to anyone.   What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween? Runts.   What are your phobias? Oh, I have so many! I won't swim water where I can't see the bottom in case of shark or pirahna attack. Yes, seriously. I hate driving through tunnels or over bridges. I can't stand getting stuck in traffic beneath a bridge. I'm claustrophobic, especially in broken elevators and mazes of any kind.   What is your favourite flower (or plant)? I love all pretty flowers, but I'm particularly fond of the bleeding heart.   Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? I think they're very cool, but I don't want any.   An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. What do you do with the money? I buy a nice, fancy new purse and shoes. If there's any leftover, I'll go to lunch when I'm done shopping. Then I'll buy my dogs a new toy or two.   Who likes coloring books? Not me   Do you have a Good Reads profile? If so, make with the link! If you don't have one, go make one! http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/1349972   You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? Well, that's not been a problem in years. back when I was in college, I'd eat whatever I had and make something not-so-fabulous. Now, I'd just order delivery and put it on the credit card.   If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it? My basement family room. I don't know what I'd do, which is why we haven't done much. Now, if I could remodel any room, it would be our kitchen/dining room area because it's such a small area and we'd like to make it more functional.   Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for? I'm a rabid fan of the Puppy Bowl!   What's your favorite animal? (You can have more than one.) PUPPIES! KITTIES!!!   This is how the world ends... zombie apocalypse, robot uprising, alien invasion, return of the elder gods... which doomsday scenario do you prefer (or make your own!)? Alien invasion, of course. Or maybe some horrible disease. Or a giant meteor. I'm a huge fan of cheezy disaster movies (especially the cheeziest made-for-t.v. disaster movies), and kind of would love to see ALL of them happen at once: massive earthquakes, meteor destruction, supervolcano explosions, instant ice-age, and bugs that eat everything.   In the year 2525... if man is still alive... what sort of future do you imagine? (apologies to anyone who gets that song stuck in their head!) Let's see... I'll be 55, and life will be good because I will have FINALLY paid off my student loans!   Do you believe in magic (or magick, if you prefer)? What does it mean to you? I can't really answer this without a long essay, but yes, it's very important to me.   If you found the puzzle box from Hellraiser, what would you do with it? ( and would you be able to resist playing with it? ) I have no idea what this means.   Do you like pinup art/images? No. Definitely not.   What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? Was hoping to go to New Orleans to visit friends and party on Halloween (and go to the Anne Rice Vampire Ball!), but lack of vacation funds is keeping us home. I don't think we'll do much -- decorate the house, dress up, hand out candy.   Who are your BPAL forum buddies? You know, people I could conspire with to Witch you! alicia_stardust, moonminx, schackjj, honeycat, filigree_shadow, karen   What is your favorite color? I don't really discriminate. I love all colors. Currently, I'm a little partial to red -- dark, brick red. For clothing, I lean toward primary colors. For decorating, I like muted colors, neutrals and earthtones with a splash of red.   Any other steampunk fans/lovers? I'm so sick of steampunk   Describe your ideal picnic lunch. Where would you go? Who (if anyone, and yes there can be multiple people) would accompany you? What sort of food would you take? And, of course, if a picnic lunch sounds like a horrible idea, feel free to say so! I'd go to Chataqua Park in Boulder and bring my husband and dogs. Knowing us, we'd talk in advance of preparing a fun homemade picnic lunch, but in the end, we'd probably just drive through KFC and bring it with us.   Any Gamers here? What kind? Board games? RPG? Miniature? MMORPG? I'm not remotely a gamer and have no interest in becoming one.   Is anyone playing this round of SW into ABJ? (asian ball jointed dolls) I have no idea what this is and don't want to know.   What is your favorite Halloween icon? I don't have a favorite icon unless you're talking about avatar-icons, in which case, it's my batty bat! Oh, and two-headed babies.   Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose?I'd fill it up with photos. My family, friends, dogs, places I've traveled, etc. pretty much reveal who I am.   Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. Saving money for a trip for my 40th birthday next year.   Favorite kind or take out kinda burger? Whats your burger preference? Veggie, meat or ???? In-N-Out! If there's not an In-N-Out around, then Smashburger. Otherwise, I don't really eat burgers.   Whats your favorite childhood toy? Whatever I could find in the fields outside -- sticks, ladybugs, tadpoles, crickets. Or books. I tended to spend a lot of time reading books. And making mud pies.   If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? Beggin' Strips, Pupperoni, any sort of dog cookie, and fluffy, plush squeaky toys or rope toys for small/medium-sized dogs.   Do you Tweet? What is your Twitter name? n/a   Are you on Ravelry? What is your Ravelry name? n/a   What are everyone's favorite Halloween-y/Autumn-y/spooky movies? Honestly, I have no idea. Most spooky movies are pretty hokey. There aren't many I've found that are actually scary.   Are there any you don't own but would like to? I just finished reading "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and would love to see the film. I've never seen some of the classics like The Exorcist and Poltergeist and Halloween. I'd love to see those. I've also never seen any Stephen King movies except for Misery, so that's something I'd enjoy, too.   Are roasted pumpkin seeds and home made chex mix the best fall snack foods, or what? Don't like chex mix unless there is spicy chili, etc. involved, but I LOVE Trader Joe's Roasted Pepitas. They're the best things EVER!   Whats your favorite pie, my dear SW's? Coconut cream pie, rhubarb-strawberry, and that awesome peppermint mousse pie that Village Inn bakes during holiday season   What kinda socks ar you wearing tonight? I don't really wear socks unless I've just put a ton of lotion on my feet.   Do you like socks? Blankets? Wrist warmers? Arm warmers? Headband? Shawl? Or what kind of knitted thing would you love the most? I love blankets. LOVE 'EM. I don't like socks or arm/wrist warmers or headbands. I love shawls. I would love a knitted shawl or warm winter fingergless (or half-finger) gloves.   How do you feel about ghost stories? Do you like to tell the old tales around a campfire? Read true accounts on the web way past your bedtime? Do you like to pick up a good anthology of Poe stories on a blustery day? Or is all that too scary for you? I love ghost stories, but I find I don't have much time for them. I recently read Something Wicked This Way Comes and LOVED IT. So creepy!   Who here is LOVING Warehouse 13? What is this???   Nother question! Coffee or Tea? For gifts, neither really. Sorry. I'm just too picky about my tea and I don't have a coffee maker!   Interested in locally produced products? Food, skincare or both? Olive oil? Lavender oils or soaps? Yes, I love locally produced stuff. I don't like lavender scented items (unless it's food, like lavender-infused honey or chocolate). I love local food, skincare, b&b, etc.   Does anyone in here wear a lot of dangly earrings or collect pendants of all kinds?? How about hair clips or pony tail band things? I collect jewelry -- I have tons of earrings and pendants/necklaces. I prefer matching sets. I don't like other people to give me stuff for my hair b/c I'm too picky.   What is your favourite historical period? 1st century Palestine   What other hot beverages everyone likes for fall? Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte, FTW!!! Oregon Chai, marzipan cocoa (or any sort of gourmet cocoa)   Did you order anything from the most recent update? Yep, I couldn't run a decant group, so I got decants of everything I wanted. I'd already tried most of it and knew what I was to like/not like. Hideous Heart = YUM!   Vampires or Werewolves? Or some other monster? I like both, but prefer vampires, especially cheezy vampires   What sort of odd or regional foods do you crave? crawfish etouffe (NOLA), beignets (NOLA), ketchup chips (Canada), beet chips (TN?), fried cheese curds (MN/WI), It's-It (San Francisco), local honeys, local candies, anything from Mike's Pastries in Boston, and just about anything from other countries that you don't typically find in the U.S. Oh, also -- and this is IMPORTANT!!! I don't have a Trader Joe's in my state or any of the surrounding states! I know, it's a CRIME!!! If you have a TJ's near you, I would DIE for some vanilla Joe-Joe's. They are absolutely my #1 favorite cookie in the world. Whenever I travel, I make sure to stop at a TJ's and I make sure my luggage is big enough to bring 2-4 boxes home with me. Also, TJ's has this 500 mg peppermint-flavored melatonin. I love that stuff. I can't find anything less than 2-3 mg melatonin here, but TJ's 500 mg melatonin is all I need. So I stock up that, too, when I travel. I also like their dried fruit bars (like fruit roll-ups, but TJ's brand -- any flavor). I currently have 3 Joe-Joe's left (not boxes, but a total of 3 cookies, and they're stale. So this is something I would DEARLY love!   ETA: No, I do not have a Blu-Ray player, but if you want to buy me one, my husband would be so happy he might want to marry you.     I forgot to mention that one thing I love are foo dogs in small statue form (anything from really small to ~10" tall) or on stationary or foo dog stickers or foo dog patterned cloth or anything that has to do with the Chinese foo dog. My husband loves foo dogs, too. They remind us of our cute little spoiled little Shih Tzus. Actually, I would LOVE Foo Dog stationary or note cards.   I also love things that are wacky, goofy, and make people laugh. A good example would be this knitted chicken hat (http://alohamedia.net/otherweb/chicken-viking-hat.jpg). I have wanted one of these for several years, even though it would give me the worst hat-head. I'm dying for one of these!   Same with flavors -- I love to taste things that aren't typical -- like rose pastilles or violet mints or lavender chocolate. Those are all sweet things, but they give you an idea. I am one of those "I'll try anything once" people and if you sent me fried cicadas or chocolate-covered crickets, I'd probably try them because I just love to try novelty foods that are weird and wacky and sometimes, they're really delicious. Not that I WANT chocolate-covered insects...I'm just saying that to show how much I like trying novelty foods.   Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? Not really. I use a small tin or just let them float around in my purse or pocket. Or in a pinch, I tuck it into my bra. Then again, maybe a nicely-lined case would work better for me than the brassiere method.   As a witchee, would you prefer to have many little packages sent to you throughout the round with a not-so-big final package or fewer things throughout the round with one huge final package to seal the sweetness? Okay, I'd be happy with anything, but really, I think many little package would be great. That's what I love to do for my witchee, too...unless she prefers the one big package.   Perfect evening at home: My perfect evening at home would involve my husband going out with his friends (since I NEVER have "alone time"), and me curling up with the dogs, a good book, some Chinese delivery, and as long as I'm dreaming....a big white-on-white cake. It's the simple things in life!   How often do I update my bpal w/l? I update my BPAL wishlist semi-regularly. It is currently updated, though, as are my MUA wishlist (user name: edenssixthday), my bookmooch wishlist (user name: edenssixthday), and my amazon wishlist (email address srthatch at comcast dot net).   Favorite candy: My favorite candy is Runts. It's not exotic or exciting or unique, but I LOVE me some Runts! Pretty much anything that's sugary and fruity, like SweetTarts and Spree and Smarties. I don't eat them often, but I really love them. I also love really good quality chocolate truffles -- like you find at Moonstruck Chocolates (www.moonstruckchocolate.com). I just don't like anything with caramel.   Do you mind receiving used (in good condition, of course) CDs or DVDs? Not at all, as long as they work well and don't skip! I think it's best to buy used -- reuse and recycle and all that.   what's your stance on cranberries? Mmmm... I make the most awesome "drunken cranberries" recipe for Thanksgiving and Christmas (involving Grand Marnier...so yummy!). Anyway, I like cranberries when they're somehow involved with sugar. Non-sugary cranberries are too tart. I love the color cranberry, too. It's a lovely shade of red.   Do you have a crush on anyone famous? Do you have a crush on any literary characters? Would you like fanfiction or fan art based on this/these people? I do have crushes, but since I don't want fanfic or art or tchotchkes or anything based on them, I'm not going to divulge. Plus, a couple would be embarrassing. Except for Eric.... mmmm.... Eric Northman.   You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab? If I'm at home, I generally grab a Power Crunch Bar. If I'm out, I either go hungry, or I splurge. I have never been known to stop at the market and pick up a bag of carrots to get me through to the next meal. I'd rather get a bean burrito from Taco Bell. (I freaking LOVE those nasty little things -- with 3 packs of mild sauce) or I go to Starbucks and get a piadini or a piece of coffee cake. This inability to snack healthily is one of the reasons I have so much trouble losing weight.   Also, dear Witch, I have so far failed to mention that in addition to my absurd love for beets and sugar (and sugar beets), I loooove anything pumpkin. And this is the time of year for it. I was at Williams Sonoma the other day and they had this pumpkin pecan waffle mix. Stuff like that rocks my socks. Oddly enough, the only pumpkin thing I really truly dislike is pumpkin pie. I've never met a pumpkin pie I liked. Actually, now that I think of it, I may have failed to inform you of my absurd love for beets. I love beets. all types of beets and all thing beets. I have beet perfume from Demeter, beet-flavored lip balm, a lovely giant knitted beet a friend made as a get-well gift, another cute little felted beet-thingy another friend made, a beet wine-bottle charm, and more. I even went and got myself a beet tattoo on my ankle. Beets rock my world in so many ways. I love their color, their taste, their texture. Pickled beets are my favorite to eat, or a piece of flatbread with roasted beets and chevre, or carrot cake with shredded beets substituted for the carrots (and the batter is SUCH a pretty color before it bakes!) Beets FTW!!!

Massive list of SW questions, Part 1...

What was your favouritest job ever, and why? The movie theater. Why? It was great knowing when your busy time would be and when your slow time would be. It was easy to fulfill the desires and needs of the customers (see a movie, eat popcorn.) I worked with a fantastic group of people. It was a cool, art house kind of theater, a little funky and run-down, but better than any multiplex. Oh, and free movies and free popcorn. I liked it so much I worked there 3 different times in my life. I also really dig my current job, at a used bookstore.   Which three albums would you take to your apocalypse bolt hole and how would you power the generator? 3? Why not 5? 1. Cocteau Twins-Treasure 2. Dead Can Dance-Within The Realm of A Dying Sun 3. Brian Eno-Before and After Science 4. Aphex Twin-Ambient Works Vol. 2 5. St. Mark's Compline Choir-Feathers of Green and Gold   solar power?? oh no wait, I'm in a hole. I guess the thing you crank with your arm...   What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? Dorian   Any cooks? Could you use anything cooking related? Aprons? Cookbooks? Measuring Cups? Recipes? Herb/Spice containers? Fancy Spices? Dish Towels? Cocktail napkins? Amazing Beaded Pot Holders? (like from our very own Pottersville! ) Something else? I try to cook, though often disappointed in the results. But...I collect cookbooks. I don't necessarily use them. I like reading them (rolls eyes) I like kitchen gadgetry too, but right now space is at a premium in our place. Oh, and I like baking more than cooking. Somehow I have a higher success rate. Maybe because it's more precise?   Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? well yeah...books. yeah. I'm sorry, what was the question?(diverts self from re-sorting Goodreads shelves) You can take a look at Goodreads, but to be more helpful: I love the Sandman series, also Neverwhere...hmmm.. I'm getting too tired to think. From childhood I love the OZ series and Little House on the Prairie. I am a fan of Harry Potter. I mostly read fiction.   What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween? Although I usually try not to eat candy or anything with HFCS (oops, I may have failed to put that in my questionnaire...dear SW, dark chocolate is best, and I avoid high fructose corn syrup and trans fats whenever possible) ..mini 3 musketeers (and now they have Mint!! It's so good!) for some reason I like mini mr. goodbar. it makes me nostalgic. I don't think regular size mr. G would be the same. I eat my share of candy corn. What are your phobias? Heights, wasps, loud sudden noises (it's weird!) and hence, balloons. What is your favourite flower (or plant)? I love herbs that smell good-rosemary, lavender, etc. For flowers...I am fond of wildflowers and little ones that clamber up vines and grow all over everything. Lilac is divine. (I don't think I could wear it as a perfume, just to clarify. But I like smelling it.) Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? meh.   An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. What do you do with the money? well, I would give 1/2 of it to my husband. Well...or maybe a third. I'd spend the rest on books, clearing out some of my amazon wishlist (but buying them at local stores if I can!), things on etsy I am coveting, maybe some toy cameras and film...yeah, that money would be gone fast.     Who likes coloring books? i prefer to draw   Do you have a Good Reads profile? If so, make with the link! If you don't have one, go make one! http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2332220   You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? Take out, shamefully. Unless I feel energetic and inspired.   If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it? Our rooms are so small and cramped right now it's hard to imagine...If I could have the bedroom exactly as I wanted it, it would be a room ONLY for sleeping...no clutter or electronics...some candles, lots of statues and books and comfort things. Lots of draperies. Dim light. Christmas lights. (that I can do, when I get around to it) Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for? Not a big fan of organized sports in general...I used to be into baseball, and I still enjoy watching a game. I root for the Reservoir Dolls here in the Mad Rollin Dolls league of flat track derby!   What's your favorite animal? (You can have more than one.) cats, first. Wolves, red pandas, dolphins, whales, and giraffes. This is how the world ends... zombie apocalypse, robot uprising, alien invasion, return of the elder gods... which doomsday scenario do you prefer (or make your own!)? Peak oil? In the year 2525... if man is still alive... what sort of future do you imagine? (apologies to anyone who gets that song stuck in their head!) I think the Star Trek version would be ok except A. I would never join Starfleet and B. they need better clothes in the future. I could see it turning out more like Firefly. Really could. I would be scared. Do you believe in magic (or magick, if you prefer)? What does it mean to you? I believe in energy, and the importance of ritual, and the power of the mind (gah that sounds like cheesy self help drivel!) I think that these things can apply to both magick/wicca/paganism and to religion, at least the way I practice it. I used to practice magic more, but now I just reserve a space of respect and honor for it. If you found the puzzle box from Hellraiser, what would you do with it? ( and would you be able to resist playing with it? ) guess what, I has no idea what you is talking about!? Do you like pinup art/images? not so much...   What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? I have been tossing costume ideas around..no plans yet but I am sure, knowing this town and our friends, there will be more than one event to choose from...As for traditions. I have a few; Decorating the house with Halloween stuff. Playing Halloween music/adding new finds to the playlist/making CDs for friends. Reading the Halloween Tree, Poe and other selected ghost stories and such. Reading Scary Godmother comic books. Watching one or more of the following: Arsenic and Old Lace. Young Frankenstein. It's the Great Pumpkin. Sleepy Hollow. (it's against the Rules to watch Nightmare Before Xmas for Halloween because it violates the Pre-Thanksgiving Christmas Ban...The officially mandated acceptable times to watch this movie are between the day after Thanksgiving and the12th Day of Christmas (aka Ephiphany.) General fall traditions: Making mulled cider, uh...I kind of ran out of steam there. I tried to think of other fall traditions but they were already all covered in the Halloween ones. Baking cookies is good too.

more questions (already posted in thread)

Some other train whistle fans here, I see!   I thought of some other sounds I like: sleigh bells, owl hoots and frogs.   Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? I love home remedies! I already use some but would be happy to learn about new ones.   What is your favourite historical period? 1920s, turn of the century/Victorian, 1800s, Renaissance   Did you order anything from the most recent update? I'm in a decant circle for Cake Smash and Pumpkin Pie bath oil.   What kinda socks are you wearing tonight? I'm not wearing socks, it's too warm. When is summer over? I can haz fall plz?   Super power?I'm torn between invisibility (so as to take stealth photos), teleporting (though it might be hard to explain), and controlling the weather.   Restaurant.com question...I'm not actually familiar with that site. I'll go take a look here...Hmmm. Don't see much in the way of restaurants I already eat at...Africana sounds interesting, but other than that, I don't see anything I would go to. How does this site work/how is it you can get a $10 GC for $4??   What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why? Bonfire Night. I haven't really tried very hard to get it, but I think it's pretty rare. ETA: Ok...I had just pulled that off my wishlist but...I just realized I HAVE a decant of Bonfire Night! Someone frimped me and I forgot to take it off the list! I haven't even tested it yet. I think this is a case of Too Much BPAL...I can't even keep track of what I do have! So to answer the question differently, I guess the scent I've always wanted to try would be...Skadi, or Dark Chocolate and Cherry, which I somehow managed to completely miss-must have been when I was in the middle of moving..   I loved Snow Moon-an unexpected frimp-and since then have tried to get more of it, but it seems kind of scarce. Had success recently and got another decant, but I would still love more and maybe even a partial bottle (hey, I can dream...)     Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. Oh, I don't know...Sometimes in swaps people send me really junky candy like pixy stix, jolly rancher...bright fruity things. Those go to waste since I do not eat them. But it's not a big deal. I don't want alcohol based perfumes, since they tend to be too strong for me and give me headache. Sadly, this seems to include the BPTP room sprays. I tried many of them and couldn't understand why I was repelled by the smell. Then I found out they do have alcohol in them. So I don't think I can take a chance on any more of those.   I LOVE Alan Rickman. It's all about the VOICE.     wrapping: I do appreciate things that are decoratively wrapped, but I also worry about waste. If I get wrapping I try to reuse it. If they are in those little mesh bags then I can reuse those for imps, etc.   what are your favorite non-perfume smells? day in the life stuff? hmm. Onions and garlic sauteeing in olive oil. Freshly cut leeks. bread baking. lilac blossoms. Christmas trees. Snow. brand new kittens. Campfire smoke. dried eucalyptus leaves. darkroom chemicals. Hot popcorn. fresh ground coffee.

Massive list of SW questions, Part 2

Any Gamers here? What kind? Board games? RPG? Miniature? MMORPG? Never was much of a gamer, for some reason (I think I fit the, uh, profile in other ways...) I do enjoy board games sometimes. My favorite ones from childhood were Monopoly (I know...but we have the Star Wars version!), Clue, 221 B Baker St. (this is an awesome game, but hard to find...It's like Clue but more complex.)   Halloween icon? Bats, skulls, Jacks, crows, spiders.   Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose? A Holga (toy camera), a silver Celtic cross, ...hmm, this is difficult! a photo, probably. That I took. ok, a photo of my husband. A sprig of evergreen from Washington state and a shell from a beach in California. Fair trade chocolate. A packet of sunflower seeds. cinnamon sticks. (peeks in to see how much room is left) Pocketbook size copy of poems by Robert Frost. (I had to get a book in there somehow!) A compilation CD with what I consider to be the best music of my lifetime (of course, finders of time capsule will not have means to play obsolete music technology...but maybe they can admire it's shinyness.)   Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. To publish a book of photos is always in the back of my head. Which I could do. If I ever got around to it.   Favorite kind or take out kinda burger? Whats your burger preference? Veggie, meat or ???? Turkey or veggie. I like sauteed onions on mine.   Whats your favorite childhood toy? I called them "goingees"...They were those little plastic Fisher-Price people that you could put on your fingers. I keep meaning to look for some on ebay.   If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? I wish we had a cat, but alas.   Do you Tweet? What is your Twitter name? No twittering for me. I have enough time suckers   Are you on Ravelry? What is your Ravelry name? No   Do you like pinup art/images? already answered. no   What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? already got this one, previous entry.   Who are your BPAL forum buddies? You know, people I could conspire with to Witch you! I dunno how well they all know me, but I have friended most of the people I've Witched with in the past, plus some other folks I've met at MnS, etc.   What is your favorite color? Pretty sure I already answered this in the questionnaire. To wear: black, brown, gray, blue. To decorate: black, dark red, purple, pewter, silver   Any other steampunk fans/lovers? Yeah! I'm into it. The look, the genre. Haven't heard much of the music. would like to hear more.   Describe your ideal picnic lunch. Where would you go? Who (if anyone, and yes there can be multiple people) would accompany you? What sort of food would you take? And, of course, if a picnic lunch sounds like a horrible idea, feel free to say so! Myself and husband. Baguette and cheese, apples, wine, Hamburger helper (ok that's sort of an inside joke...on one of our first dates we had a picnic during his lunch break...I brought baguette and cheese and he had Hamburger Helper in a Tupperware.)

Switch Witch Questions/answers

Anything on my Amazon wishlist (even if it's been on there for a looong time, are things I have not purchased. I do not expect my witch to purchase anything on my wishlist, it just gives an idea of what I like (and keeps track of things I would one day like to order). http://amzn.com/w/3F0132MYIB7XS Sock Dreams wishlist: http://www.amazon.com/registry/wishlist/QBNELTIXAOD0/ref=cm_wl_rlist_go   I also just signed up for Pinterest. My name on there is MsFortuneTeller http://pinterest.com/msfortuneteller/     2011 Halloween Switch Witch Questions:   the Lab on eBay? I haven't even looked.   VApothecary? Graver Raver!   Lunacy Update? Beaver Moon and Loi Krathong sound amazing, but I don't want my witch to feel like I want her/him to order anything for me. Just sharing my excitement.   Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? Not really.   Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? No thank you. It sounded good until the frosty air and pumpkin.   You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? These socks. This awesome Doctor Who scarf. A skull & hibiscus flower coil bracelet from this shop.     How do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? It's fine. I like hemp anklets.   Possets update: Not big on Possets. Describe your sense of humor. Dark and dirty. Sometimes silly.   #occupywallstreet? Sounds absolutely wonderful!   Reveal? I would like my witch to reveal, but it's really up to him/her.   Like commercial socks? Of course.   Is anyone interested in reading The Night Circus? I'm on the waitlist for it at the library.   I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? No thank you, not really my thing.   Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? I do. I would like to get her tarot set one day.   Do you drink wine? Nope, don't drink.   Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? Yes, sadly.   If you were to go here and create your very own chocolate bar, what might it have in it?   Dark chocolate with crushed peppermint and ground coffee. Maybe with junior mints also. I am also very curious about what dark choc. and lavender would taste like. Maybe with some peppermint as well (I obviously like mint ).   Do you have any bedtime rituals? Is there any particular product you have to apply or a certain shirt you wear or an act you perform to get you in the "bedtime" mood? Not much. I wash my face, put my face lotion on, put on my Jack Black lavender lip balm, and try to read something fluffy (like a star trek book ) . I have sleep issues so it tends to take me forever to fall alseep, if I do at all.   What are you wearing right now? Let's see. Light orange and hot pink striped capris pj pants, a sesame street tshirt that says "All my homies are from the streets", and a glowing crystal cube necklace. Oh, and my glow in the dark, glittery skeleton hand barrettes.   I just got back from Busch Gardens HowlOScream and I couldn't wait to put on my comfy clothes. I am exhausted.   And I was so excited today! I have actually lost a bit of weight and today found out I could fit into 2 skirts I couldn't fit into last month. I still have a long way to go, but I have lost quite a bit already (compared to where I was a few years ago) so I'm getting there.   Is there anything you like or would like to try from Bath & Body Works? I'm not fond of most of their body stuff, but I do like their scented plug-ins. I can always use refills for the ones I have (nothing too foody, sweet, or pine scented, but I do like spice scents).   What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel, like this? Cute, though really not my style.   So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? (yup, geek question) Not my thing.   What is your favorite coffee blend at Starbucks? If you don't have one, what is your favorite roast of coffee? When I have a choice, I prefer not to get Starbucks. I'll drink it if there is no other choice (never been inside one though, they just have it at Busch Gardens).   Anyone doing anything cool for Mabon (or the start of fall, if you aren't pagan?) Sadly, not this year.   I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? Never tried Cocoa Pink before, but I'm open to trying new things. Nothing too foody. If they have a nice lily scent, I'd like to try it.   Question: Do you like tarts? tealights? jar candles votives? I do, but living so close to a Yankee Candle flagship store means we have a ton. I do like the refills for Bath and Body Works plug ins though and we can always use more.   Question: What's your favorite flavor? Sour, sweet, bitter, salty? Sweet and salty (sometimes together, sometimes not).   Would you be interested in getting a gently used BPAL tshirt from your Witch? Sure!   What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? Love them, though I knit my own and have gone a little nuts lately.   What's your favorite horror movie? Omg, I couldn't narrow it down. There are so many sub-genres. I love stuff like Army of Darkness, Evil Dead, Dead Alive, Ed and His Dead Mother, Jack Frost, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, etc. (aka: B & C horror/ horror comedies, though Evil Dead (both) and Army of Darkness are really in a class of their own). Also, Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, etc (aka: more well known horror/zombie comedies). Then there are the straight up zombie horror movies that I love: Dawn/Day/Land of the Dead, 28 Days/Weeks Later, etc. And can't forget the teen (or not) slasher/straight up blood/or just freaky as hell movies: Scream (all of them), Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, 2000 Maniacs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Urban Legend, Phantasm, Hellraiser, Wolf Creek (one of the few movies to give me the creeps), House on Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts... I could really go on and on, esp. when it comes to zombie movies (we even have a Support Zombies ribbon magnet on our car) but many of the ones we've seen are pretty out there. I think we've just about run out of zombie movies on netflix. lol   If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. Coffee (decaf and regular), tea (any, I use it for both hot and cold tea), Jack black lip balm (the lavender and lemon ones are my favorites), and then of course stuff like toothpaste and shampoo/conditioner.   Jane Austen? Eh.   Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting Nope, not planning on any orders.   Arcana Weenies? Reign in Hell and Hobbedy's Lantern Perfume Oil sound really interesting.   Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get.   May I kick in $10? Then I would get: La Calavera Catrina, Ghosts in Love, and Mictecacihuatl. If I had to pick 2, then Catrina and Mictecacihuatl.   Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea   1.I tried a coconut chai one time that I loved and can't find again. 2. Rooibos or Green Tea (any flavor but peach, though my favorite is mint) 3. Flowering tea (any)   2. Name your 3 favorite scents for candles Have a good week!   1. Cinnamon (or something along those lines) 2. Patchouli 3. Mint   Is there anyone here who likes toe socks? You know, those socks with a place for each toe? Not usually (the sensation of the fabric between my toes drives me up the wall).   Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. I'm good on makeup brushes.   Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? No thank you.   Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? Oh, definitely! I prefer the orginal series and TNG. I loooove me some Spock and Picard the best, as well as Bones (which happens to be my snake's name lol) and Kirk. But Spock is my favorite (Leonard Nimoy Spock). I do not like the newest movie though, even though I did like the cast.   Pumpkin scented things? Usually no. Many pumpkin scents make me queasy. If it's heavier on the spice though it might be ok.   Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? I love tshirts and live in them, though I'm really picky on fit. I tend to wear women's large or sometimes xl depending on the fit, but I am starting to lose weight so I'm between sizes.   Has anyone else heard of or does anyone else love Glamourkin? Kinda pretty, but not really my style. And I really don't like things made from cut up books, I'm sorry.   Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? I hate cooking. With a passion. Seriously. But dh likes to cook. We are probably set when it comes to cookbooks though and utensils.   How do you feel about maple syrup? It's ok but I never eat it.   I have a few things that I do every Switch Witch round, would you find that boring and unoriginal? NO! It would be fun to be part of the tradition. (:   Do you like beef jerkey? Um...no.   Anyone love Buffy/Angel? Like Buffy (at least, before she got whiney), love Angel. Not fangirl level though.   Do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work? Racy cards are welcome, just warn me so I don't open them in front of the kids.   Creepy threshhold? We prefer creepy over cute, gore is fine depending on what it is. Just no spiders because that is the one thing my youngest is scared of.   Piercings? I have stretched lobes (0g), an industrial, and both nostrils pierced (all my others have been retired). I am very picky with the jewelry for my industrial and nose, so nothing for those please. I can wear regular earrings in my earrings (though my earskins) as long as they are hook ones or hoops.   I have a question. I have a couple spare Doctor Who stickers. If my witchee is a fan, would they like a couple Doctor Who stickers in their package? Oh my, yes.   Star Wars? Star Wars-no (though I enjoy the original 3, the others sucks).   How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. Probably not since it's a hit or miss when we can actually do stuff due to dh's schedule and not having a sitter.   Do you want anything from lush? I haven't tried a whole lot from Lush so I can't say what I like and don't like, but I'm open to trying things.   Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? Sure, if it's paper. (:   Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? I don't blog.   When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? My soft fleece Halloween blanket, a comfy sweater/hoodie, some chocolate, mint tea, cold soda, a good book, and some horror movies, all while cuddling with dh on the couch.   What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) ? need to think about this.   What do you really NOT want? Food (candy is ok though), candles, scented lotion (have so much already), cooking stuff, makeup (I have quite a bit)...other than that, I can't really think of anything.   How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? No thank you, I don't drink.   What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) No thank you. I rarely eat that now as I'm trying very hard to lose weight again.   Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? I have no idea what it is...off to google....   Um, please no. If you knew me, you would understand.   Does anyone like kimchi? I don't think I've ever had it?   Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? I tried Birchbox and cancelled it (which was a nightmare), so probably not unless there was a yarn one.   Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? I've never tried anything from there, so sure!   Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes Dh is a lifelong Eagles fan and had converted me, but with the whole Vick thing I'm pissed. So I would say...no.   How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I don't have any real use for stationary and I have quite a few unused journals. I do like the notebooks that come with a pen and the color changes as you write. I think it's meant for kids, but I like it.   Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? I think I missed something, because I'm not sure what this question is about? BPTP update? I'm open to trying decants of anything. Not the hair glosses though since they contain silicones.   You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? BPTP: A pair or 2 (or all ) of the socks, Morocco bath oil, and another locket (either the Clocket or Goldfish). Lab: GRR, more Lustration, more Fit of Artistic Enthusiasm, more Snake Oil, and perhaps some Halloween bottles. TAL: Energy, Money, Bastet's Laughter, and Healing.   How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? Not usually, though there is a Spock stuffed toy and an Adipose plushie from Think Geek that I like. lol   Glitter? In nail polish, sure. Just random bits of glitter? No thank you.   How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? We have a ton, really.   How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? It has been years since I've had to dress up.   Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? Sure! If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc?   Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl Yes! #'s 4, 6, 12, 15   And omg, ellebelle! Her photos are gorgeous. I see so many I would love to have. These I think are a few of my favorites: http://www.flickr.co...157594259684629   http://www.flickr.co...157594259684629   http://www.flickr.com/photos/lissaphoto/5406565458/in/set-72157625949307636 http://www.flickr.co...157600215732275     Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? I have an Amazon Kindle application on my tablet so that I can read ebooks, but I usually still prefer physical books. I don't do beer though (nasty accident with it way before I was legal to drink it led to my distaste of it), I love ciders, and hard liquors, wine is hit and miss. I love a vodka with water and a slice of lime, spiced rum w pineapple juice, ceasars, margaritas, bellinins, baileys on the rocks, apple jacks, basically anything mixed. I am not too picky.   If I were your witch, and I wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? And, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? Or would you want it for a certain element? Or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? I need something that could help calm my life down. At the moment lots of stress and upheaval is in it, I would like to have that eased up. And, like alot of people, I could use a seat on the money train.   Stamps? I don't really do anything with stamps, I could send them along to a friend of mine who collects them for her church, I forget what they do with them, but its for some good cause I am sure.   cake or death? I am not sure if this is a movie quote of some sort, but uh, yeah, I choose cake, even though I am not a big cake eater, but its way easier than dying, and more filling too.   If you could describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be? The boychild is addicted to peanut butter- he would have it every day if I let him. Chocolate and caramel are all round crowd pleasers.   What are your thoughts on Halloween decorations? I believe this may have been already answered, but if not- bring on the decorations!!   What tarot card do you most identify with? Right now its the death card for me. Not because of dying and death but its the card I associate with change, old things ending, new things beginning. Maybe I am reading it wrong, which is entirely likely as I don't read tarot, but that is what I take from that card.   Do you like Celtic things? I do very very much, and its not really all that surprising, since I come from an Irish background.   Can you receive flowers at your address? Would you prefer food or a plant instead? I can, and any of the above mentioned things would be lovely.   Would you mind vintage clothes? I would love vintage clothes, that would be very fun.   What about 2010 Wall calenders? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject? Well wall calendars would be ok, I would need one with magnets on it with the tear away pages instead of flip because I keep my calendar on the fridge. I don't really need an appointment journal as I have a blackberry that carries all of that information fro me, but blank journals would be great.   do you use henna at all (hair or skin)? I love henna and use it on my skin occasionally, I don't think I have ever heannaed my hair.   Who collects ACEOs/ATCs? I don't collect them, but I bet they're beautiful.   Are there any languages other than English that you love? I adore purses, handbags, totes, cluthes, and all manner of purse-like things.   Are there any particular movies you want on DVD? I would love to own Ever After again- mine broke, and I would love to have The Ghost Whisperer Seasons.   What about stickers?? Bring them on! I like stickers alot.   Five sites I visit regularly? etsy.com ebay.ca lush.ca google.com/.ca (it counts- I google a retarded amount of things on an everyday basis) youtube.com   Suppose I have a bottle of something you (my witchee) really wants, and I want to share it with you. Would you like a rollerball bottle made from oil in my own bottle in it? Of course!   How many people dress for Halloween? And, what are you going to be this year? Do you need anything for it? I dress up every year without fail. I am a sewing fool come this season, as I make my own every year, and at least one of the kids too. this year I am going to be a Musketeer- and I need a sword, but I seriously DO NOT expect my witch to mail me one- I doubt you could get it though the mail to me lol.   scarves? Oh yes please... lovely...   Disney? I freaking love disney- all of it. i have never been to DisneyWorld, but am determined to get there someday...   fruitcake? Uh... no.   green tomato ketchup? Sure, why not?   What are your top 5 bath & beauty products that you "can't live without?" 1. Skin Scrubs 2. Shampoo and conditioner (does that count as two?) 3. bath melts 4. face wash 5. peppermint lip balm   Bacon? Hell yes! Here's my switch witch blog! Ok, I will try to give my witch some clues about my personality.   Today I went to my acupuncture appointment, then got my eyebrows waxed. I have to feel good and look good! I ate lunch at one of my favorite vegan restaurants, Blossoming Lotus, and I was disappointed to see that the ice cream flavor of the day was mint, because that's pretty much the only flavor I hate.   It's sunny and hot here today so I'm wearing 51. I also have on a shirt that shows off one of my 3 tattoos.   Love,   ducky   P.S. Sometimes I don't know what to write about myself! I'm trying.

Ideas for my Witch

Seriously, witch, I will be happy with whatever you bestow upon me! Don't feel obligated to listen to these lists. I just wanted to have something for you if you want help.   My Wishlist   Products I would like to try.   Other stuff I've been eyeing...   Any of the BPTP babydoll t-shirts in size small.   I love dangly earrings and necklaces/pendants. I also have size 0 stretched ears.   I would love a scent locket, and maybe someday I'll get a BPAL one! But I saw some pretty, more affordable lockets on Etsy. And they had bird designs, too!   I'm definitely intrigued by soy wax tarts. You guys are such enablers! Dream Tarts caught my eye because it looks like theirs are vegan. I don't have a warmer, though.   Something I don't have yet in BPAL-dom - imp or bottle storage. I would love any sort, be it travel or larger.   I could use a cute draining soap dish.   I love socks! Really, patterns, creatures...I like lively socks. Except wool. I like snuggly stuff, like blankets and scarves too.   I really do love birds of all sorts, especially waterfowl. I like sea/turquoise/aqua blue, and most shades of purple.   I love vegan lollipops, most are. I like to try new kinds & I'm a fruity flavor kinda girl.

Embalming Fluid

A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon.

in the bottle: Nice. Iced tea with lemons.

on wet: Lemon.

drydown: Lemon. There's an undertone of something that's probably the aloe (unless there are ingredients not listed).

one hour later: Lemon.

end of day: Gone.

compared to official description: I'm not sure how much the white musk contributes. I'd have to smell it as a single-note to determine where it fits into the whole. The green tea is definitely there, at least initially. But the lemon: my, my. Move over, lemon is here.

notes: Stayed very close to my skin and didn't last for more than a few hours. Barely a whiff after even an hour. The tea (and everything but the lemon) faded after application. Oddly, when I left the room and came back, I picked up a ghost of a tea smell where I had been, but I could never smell it on me (only lemon).

I actually like it, but the almost one-note lemon had me thinking of furniture polish before too long. It's probably a fine balance on others, but I seem to have blown the lemon out of proportion. Nice idea, but ... maybe a good room scent.

Do not need another expensive hobby. *What is your favorite Halloween icon? - Black cats. *Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose? - Oh, hard one. I'd say... a sci-fi/fantasy novel, some sort of autism awareness symbol, a gay pride symbol, the stencils I made of symbols of lots of different religions, a World of Warcraft game card, my least favorite M:tG deck, and one of my decks of Tarot cards. *Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. - Graduating! And getting into grad school. And moving the girl here. *Favorite kind or take out kinda burger? Whats your burger preference? Veggie, meat or ???? - Meat all the way. Backyard Burgers. *Whats your favorite childhood toy? - My childhood best friend and I did a lot of pretend play, so most of our toys were rigged together out of baling twine and sticks. *If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? - Her Highness approves of Feline Greenies, catnip, ponytail holders, and crinkly paper. *Do you Tweet? They're a classy brand of sexy. *What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? - I'm between traditions right now. I'll probably go to the pub crawl with whatever friends are planning on attending, and maybe help roomie dress her spawn up for his first Halloween if she wants to. *Who are your BPAL forum buddies? You know, people I could conspire with to Witch you! - The girlfriend is on the forum and actually doing SW... sirensea. Where would you go? Who (if anyone, and yes there can be multiple people) would accompany you? What sort of food would you take? And, of course, if a picnic lunch sounds like a horrible idea, feel free to say so! - If I had plenty of bugspray... I'd want to go to the really NICE park in Springfield (Nathanael Green for anyone who knows the area), with a bunch of finger foods, the Boy, the Girl, the roommate, and possibly a couple of other friends. *You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? - Um. Take out. I can barely make something fabulous when I have the recipe and all my ingredients. *If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it? - I choose our porch, because everything else has been decorated to our liking. What teams do you root for? - Sports and I tend to avoid each other. *What's your favorite animal? (apologies to anyone who gets that song stuck in their head!) - Oh, we're probably just closer to blowing ourselves up. *Do you believe in magic (or magick, if you prefer)? What does it mean to you? - I do. It's a very personal thing for me. *If you found the puzzle box from Hellraiser, what would you do with it? ( and would you be able to resist playing with it? ) - I would probably pick it up, shake it, try to figure it out, and then lose interest when I failed and leave it for some other poor soul to find. *Any cooks? Could you use anything cooking related? Aprons? Cookbooks? Measuring Cups? Recipes? Herb/Spice containers? Fancy Spices? Dish Towels? Cocktail napkins? Amazing Beaded Pot Holders? (like from our very own Pottersville! ) Something else? - I could really use cookbooks. Or simple recipes. I'm trying to learn my way around the kitchen a little better and something that isn't too intimidating would be nice. Potholders would be great, too, since we're always losing ours. *Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? - I read all the time. I have a three way tie on favorites... I love anything by Tanya Huff, Lynn Flewelling's Nightrunner series, and Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy pretty much evenly. *What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween? - Little miniature candy bars. *What are your phobias? - Spiders. And being closed in by people and not able to get to an exit. *What is your favourite flower (or plant)? - Honeysuckle. It used to grow right outside my window growing up, and I could smell it while I was sitting in my room reading. *Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? - They're not really my style. It takes a certain type of person to pull them off and I'm not it. *An anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. What do you do with the money? - First I would upgrade my graphics card and a couple of other things on my computer. Then I would hire someone to come in and clean the apartment for me. The rest would go to buying things for the classroom, we need more dress up clothes for the kids. *Who likes coloring books? - I used to, but I can't color for very long without my hands hurting now. *Do you have a Good Reads profile? If so, make with the link! If you don't have one, go make one! - I do not, but I find myself intrigued by this. *What was your favouritest job ever, and why? - The one I'm currently working at now is my favorite... I'm a paraprofessional in an early childhood classroom where we work mostly with kids on the autism spectrum. It's something I can relate to very personally, I seem to have a knack for connecting with the kids, and there's no other job in the world where you get so much joy out of such simple things as a kid pointing to make a choice. I feel like I'm making a real difference, and I really love these kids... and I could babble about my job all day, so I'm going to stop now. *Which three albums would you take to your apocalypse bolt hole and how would you power the generator? - Oh, man... going to have to say at least one Iron & Wine album, probably Around the Well since it's longer than Woman King... Skunk Anansie's Paranoid and Sunburnt... and since I can't pick just one Tori Amos album, I'm going to skip on that and say the soundtrack of Spring Awakening. *What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? - ...see my wish list. I'd say Blood, out of all of them, is the one I always think 'I'll get it later'. *Super power? - Telepathy. It would be really useful in my line of work. magtongue.gif *If I send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? - I can grind. I have the technology! *For the tea and coffee drinkers: Opinion on tea- and/or coffee-related accessories/etc? (Teaware, sugar crystals, infusers, tea chests, etc)How do you take your coffee (or tea)? Black or with cream and/or sugar? - Any kind of accessories would be welcomed! And I usually drink both with a little milk and sugar. Sometimes honey for the tea. *Restaurants you'd like a gift certificate to on Restaurant.com? - Gem of India is my faaaaavorite restaurant in the whole wide world. *In your perfect world it is chocolate and...? Alcohol. Mmmm Death By Chocolate margaritas. *How do you scent your home: tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? - Usually candles or incense. Sometimes I break out the oil burner, and I have a reed diffuser that never gets used. *What's your favorite dessert treat? Ice cream? Cake? Pie? Fudge brownie cake with pie flavored ice cream on top? - Chocolate cheesecake. All the way. *Do you believe we control our destiny, or does our destiny control us? - Genetics and the environment make us predisposed to react in certain ways to different stimuli, and thus most of our actions are predictable. However, we do have the free will to go against what we are most inclined to choose if we so wish, so I'd say it's both. (Sorry. We've been discussing this in one of my classes. magtongue.gif) *What one thing that is missing from your life would you like to have above all else? - I could use a few more hours in my day. In lieu of that, some relaxation. *Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? - Yes, definitely. Recipes and the actual product both. *If you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushins, jewelery making supplies, beads, etc.? - Not really into any crafts, but there are a couple I'm trying to dabble in... so... calligraphy supplies might help me practice my kanji for Japanese class more. And some strong cord to practice knotting. *What's your favorite pain-relief remedy or ritual? - Two extra-strength Tylenol and warm blanket. *Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? - Sounds either make me really happy or really on edge... I have near perfect pitch, and so anything out of tune grates on my nerves. I love the sound of wooden wind chimes, though, and rain on days when I can stay in... and the sound of a cat purring is one of the most soothing things in the world. *When you receive your SW packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? - I am happy with however you want to do it. However, crinkly paper makes my kitty very happy. *Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. - I doubt this will be an issue, but anything overtly Christian-themed. To each their own freedom of religion, but I've had some bad experiences growing up in a very old-fashioned Christian household and anything that talks about the religion too much makes me feel a little uncomfortable. *What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why? - My wishlist gives a pretty good account of this, but Blood is the one I always seem to just miss out on trying. And Black Lace is the one I will never get more of, lol. *I know we're all scent sensitive here. What are your favorite non-perfume smells? Day in the life stuff? - Rain on the concrete. Freshly brewed coffee. The kitchen right after it's been thoroughly cleaned. *Coffee drinkers, what types of beans to you like? Kona, Sumatra, Kenya..etc. How do you like them roasted? Do you like flavors, such as hazelnut, vanilla, etc. in your coffee? Any. And. All of the above. *Who has a birthday falling in this round? - Me! September 26th. I'll be 22. *For those of us who like chocolate, do you like anything /in/ your chocolate, like fruit, nuts, or for the more daring among us, chilies? - Yes please, to all of it! *Are there any childhood shows/movies/games/books/etc. that still hold a really special place in your heart? - Old school Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Magician as I mentioned above... Beauty and the Beast... Oh, Tamora Pierce books. Those and Robin McKinley's books were my favorite childhood reading that was actual... kids' books. *There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate? - Mmm, I'm a big fan of lollipops. Any kind. They're just so convenient. I'm not big on Jolly Ranchers (I know, I'm unAmerican), as they used to force feed those to us in elementary school whenever we got As on quizzes and such. Extrinsic motivators only work when you don't get them so often that you get burned out on them... *Do you have a Blu-Ray player? - No Blu-Ray here... but as soon as I find a used PS3 for sale somewhere... *Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? Is your internet connection fast enough for you to download large files like music easily? Are there any songs, albums, movies, or TV shows that you can't find/haven't been released that you want? - I have no objections to downloads (I'm of the mindset that if I like it well enough after listening I'll buy it to support the artist, and if not then I haven't wasted money, at least). My connection is fast enough, but the only thing I haven't been able to find is this old kids' series called The Magician that I used to LOVE. *What's something you're really looking forward to in the semi-near future? - I will join whoever else said birthday... my parents always come visit, and while that made going out to drink on my 21st difficult last year, it also means that they treat me to every single meal and buy me things. *Here goes my first attempt at a question: what fictional character do you most identify with and why? - I've been told that I'm a lot like Willow (BtVS). The first person to tell me this stated simply because I'd grown up in a religious household (though Christian, not Jewish) and then discovered I was really adept at witchy things... the girl concurs because (and I quote because I STILL haven't watched Buffy like I keep meaning to) "You just have the same... humor and goodness about that you that Willow has. You're good at puns. And you like blondes. And you're potentially evil." Take that as you will. *Could you use a 'travel' imp case? How many should it hold? - I could use one, yes... I'm using a travel container for soap right now! Usually something big enough for five or six would get me through a vacation. *As a witchee, would you prefer to have many little packages sent to you throughout the round with a not-so-big final package or fewer things throughout the round with one HUGE final package to seal the sweetness? - I'm fine with whichever suits my witch and his/her finances best. *What is your idea of the perfect evening at home? - Cat on my lap, girl on AIM, and guildies on WoW cracking jokes. *Are you on any social networks (MySpace, Twitter, LJ, Facebook, Bebo, etc)? If so, make with the links! Are you open to new friends? - I don't use my MySpace or Facebook a lot, but I'm Asafoetida on LJ as well, and I'm definitely open to some Switch Witchy friends. *How often do you update your wishlist? - Very irregularly. I just updated with the recent stuff, but I probably won't update it again until I have a reason. *May I help you fill out your costuming wardrobe (assuming you costume)? Are there articles you are seeking to enhance your a) Halloween costume, icon_cool.gif Renfest attire, c) Cosplay, d) Steampunk accouterment? - No real costume plans at the moment, but I wouldn't object to jewelry that fit Renfest attire or steampunk. *Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods? - Linda Bergkvist is my all time favorite artist, but I also like pretty much any fantasy art. *Do you mind receiving used (in good condition, of course) CDs or DVDs? (I know this question was on the questionnaire about books, but I didn't see one for DVDs or CDs.) - Used CDs and DVDs are great! *what's your stance on cranberries? - We avoid each other. *Do you have a crush on anyone famous? Do you have a crush on any literary characters? Would you like fanfiction or fan art based on this/these people? - I'll be honest... I've had a crush on Severus Snape since I was a tween reading the first Harry Potter book, even before Alan Rickman was cast. It says a lot about me. I also possibly have a thing for Summer Glau, both as herself and as River and Cameron. If my witch wants to gift me with fanfic or fanart, I wouldn't object! *You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab? - Whatever's in the kitchen and looks good at the moment. Or right beside me. Basically, I snack at convenience. Chocolate, however, will be sought. *Your one absolute favorite, BPAL: - Blood Kiss. All the notes blend perfectly with my chemistry in a way that leaves people sniffing me and asking what I'm wearing all day. *Do you have a favorite BPAL bottle art? - At the moment, The Illustrated Woman! *if this was for you - what kind of box would you want? - Oh, man, anything really. Triple moons would be good, or something relating to my astrological sign - I'm a Libra sun, Scorpio moon, can't recall my ascendant at the moment... something related to the Tarot card Justice - scales and sword maybe... and om is something that seems to pop up in my life a lot... or if you want to go really geeky, symbols for WoW-ish things, especially paladin class. If you do go the box route, you might want to talk to my girlfriend first as she is making me something that has to do with stains and stuff... not that I couldn't use more than one! *Is there ONE scent that you are just dying for from the Halloween update? - Hellgate of Ireland, OMFG. I am on edge waiting to get my 'Weenie decants. *Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? - Wishlist has been updated to include any that I haven't ordered decants of! And I will update again when I get and test the decants. *If you had the funds to comission an original painting for yourself, what would it be of? What would it be like- colors, size, style? - As I'm a dork, I'd probably have one done of one of my characters. Most likely the one who can change into a hyena, mid-shift. There'd be lots of browns and blacks, sand... and I'm not sure what to call the actual style, but something realistic. Something that looks like the cover of a fantasy novel. *What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it? - Humid. Lots of deciduous trees, so there are a lot of leaves on the ground.Very rainy. And... I hate the humidity. *What's your favorite product(s) at Trader Joe's? - I have never been to Trader Joe's, but I wouldn't object to sampling some of the wares. *If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? - Dollhouse. Or Eureka. *Any Amy Brown art fans? - Her stuff's pretty, but not really my style. *How do you feel about Halloween music? (mix CDs, what have you) - Yes please to any and all Halloween music. I have a spooky music playlist with things like Re: Your Brains on it, I love that kind of stuff. *Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland? - Oo, oo, me, me! *Is there a store that you love which does not have a location near you (but that has a physical presence somewhere, not just online? Why do you love it so much? - I love the little stores on the beach near where the Girl's aunt lives... just all sorts of neat stuff that I've never seen anywhere else. I can spend hours in those stores, especially the pagany ones. This probably doesn't help my witch much unless s/he lives in an area with a lot of stores like that, but! *Lolcats....yeah or nay? - Yay lolcats! They're a good mood booster. *What is your favorite creepy folk story or legend? - Mine is Tailypo, which no one else I've ever talked to has heard of so I think it's mostly told around the Southeast Missouri area. I won't tell what it's about here, but trust me when I say it is creepy as heck when told right... and I lived in a folksy enough area that there were people who were near professional storytellers. *If your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both? - If my witch is a writer/storyteller, I would be happy with any of the above, really. I do love having things to read, but nothing beats having a ghost story or a folk tale told aloud by someone who has a talent for it. *For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies? - I am not crafty, but I always love hand-crafted things if my witch is! (P.S. - dixiehellcat, my gloves were put to good use today in helping supply heat to my poor, aching, abused fingers!!!) *Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? - Okay, so, I have an ID case that I've been using for years and is now falling apart... so I could definitely use a hard one! Especially one that perhaps has a keyring attached... *Any songs you are desperately into at the moment? - I've been listening to Regina Spektor's "Poor Little Rich Boy" and a few of the songs from Spring Awakening - "My Junk", "The Dark I Know Well", and "The Bitch of Living". I would be listening to the whole Spring Awakening soundtrack if it had all made it onto my mp3 player. *Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? - I think I mentioned earlier that om/aum is one that seems to be popping up in my life a lot. The pentacle tattoo that I share with sirensea. The triple moon. Basically anything I mentioned for the box. *Are there any Gods, Goddess, or other mythological figures of whom you're particularly fond? - Shiva. Big time Shiva, a friend did a reading on me once that resulted in Shiva being very important to me. Kali. And after conversations with an old professor, I've fallen into not quite worship but more like belief in a more primative, prehistoric goddess, especially in her cthonian aspect. *Super villain or vigilante? Which would you like to be? Which would you like to receive? - I'm more like a vigilante, really... I tend toward idealism, but at the same time I can't stand seeing something wrong but not trying to fix it. As for what I'd rather have... can I add a third option? I've always had a weakness for antiheroes. :swoon: *What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with, and why? - I don't know if I'd say I IDENTIFY with them, but I've always been really drawn to dragons. I love the combination of intelligence and ability to step on you and crush you like a bug. And I've always really enjoyed the myths of dragons who transformed into humans, like Melusine - I'll admit, as a very strange little kid who never fit in at all, I had the occasional flight of fantasy that maybe I was a dragon and I just hadn't figured out how to change back. That actually has shown up in some of my writing, now that I think of it... *How do you feel about Dia de los Muertos? Are you interested in sugar skulls? Catrina (or other) skeleton figurines? - I don't feel that into Dia de los Muertos (not part of my cultural heritage so far as we know, though we wonder about my mom's dad sometimes...), but anything that includes sugar interests me. *Do you have a favorite poem or poet? - I've always liked Roethke, and my creative writing teacher for my poetry class introduced us to Kim Addonizio's "First Poem for You"... that one made a pretty deep impact on me. Oh, and there's one that I can't remember the poet's name, but I know the whole thing... "They say the Bible teaches fear of women, snakes,/And God, who killed his manchild for our sakes/and puts a mark beside our least mistakes/and beats us until our spirit breaks.//Must we believe his godly finger shakes/at Eve for every apple pie she bakes?/I'd rather take my chances with the snakes." Yeah. I wrote a huge paper on that poem, I love it so much. But I can't remember the poet. The poem is called Pro-Snake, I believe. *Are there any musicals you love? - What musicals don't I love? If I have to pick favorites, it'd be Repo!, Rent, Hairspray, Spring Awakening (just for the music and what I've read of the plot), and Cats. I just love musicals of all sorts, I blame it on the woman who gave me voice lessons being a Broadway nut and my mom for exposing me early. *Pirate or Ninja? - How can I chooooooose??? My Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster loyalties pull me toward pirates, but my love for the teenage mutant turtles says ninja. *Would you like to receive a Diva Box? - That or the Black Box thing would be good, I do like samples. *how broad is your musical taste? - Oh, boy... I like everything but country (classic or modern), rap, r&b, and most pop. I love hard rock/heavy metal, adult alternative, folk, some bluegrass, opera, Broadway, emo, indie, art songs, kids' music, Celtic, medieval, the occasional old gospel (Samson and Delilah, especially Shirley Manson's cover)... Witch, if you want to know more, let me know and I can try to put together some kind of playlist (or, heck, a Pandora station if you want to make an account with some anonymous email address) that's pretty representative. *Would a "gift" donation to one of the organizations/causes you support be a great gift, or a lame gift? - In a way... I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'd like a donation directly to Springfield Public Schools Early Childhood Special Education more than one to a bigger foundation, for sure, because some of the places that claim to be 'treating' autism are just bogus and it's kind of hard to know what's good unless you're kind of more aware of what's what. *I have seen a lot of Yankee Candles haters..... Personally I like Yankee Candle (some of them, anyway). Do you or don't you, and if not, what candles do you like? This assumes you like candles. Otherwise, what specific home fragrance do you use? - I am totally okay with Yankee Candles. No hate from me. I do like candles, and I'm not picky on scents at all. Fall scents would be nice for right now, though, pumpkin spice or something. Something orange and Halloweeny, or if they're already starting to put out the Christmassy scents... there will be First Halloween and First Christmas going on for my roommate's sprog. *Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? - I'm going to have to say wrath. I tend to bottle things up, and then when it gets to be too much I explode. Someday I'm going to hit the big explosion and say and do things I can't take back. *Who is musically inclined? What instruments (voice counts) do you play? Would you enjoy sheet music? - I play piano and flute well, and sing better. I'm currently (still) learning mountain dulcimer and guitar. I would definitely enjoy sheet music of any sort, flute most of all as I have a beautiful open hole flute with a gold lip plate and a low b footkey that doesn't get nearly enough use... Celtic or Renaissance music is my favorite now that I can play for fun, but anything would be great! *Would you want candles from this site, and if so, which scents interest you? http://www.darkcandles.com - The whole Halloween LE set looks gooood. Especially Chocolate bat. Of non-LEs, I like the looks of Leather, Bonfire, Clove, Forbidden Fruit, Dracula... it all looks good. *Are you into 80s movies (like i am ) if so, which are your favorites and who are your favorite characters? - I'm pretty fond of 80s horror, and some of the 'classics'... but as I was born in '87, I wasn't around for most of them, and I've been exposed to more 80s music than 80s movies. Do you like Villainess soaps? What are your favorite scents? - I am interested in Villainess soaps... haven't tried much Villainess, but as to what looks good? Byzantium, Embargo, Ennui (no fragrance? Perfect for when I want to make my perfume the center of attention.), Pyromania, Scintillating, Silk & Cyanide, and Villainess. *Do you mind artificial colors in your food? - I am a college student. Most of what I eat is made of grease. A little artificial coloring? Not an issue. *Who wants hair pretties?(headbands, barrettes, pony-o's, scrunchies, bobby pins, hair clips, etc) - They will have to be very strong. My hair is sort of insane. *If you were my witchee, would you like any of the scents/sizes that are available on clearance? - All of that looks good. idk I just like candles. *I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes. - Something like that would be wonderful. Phone charm is intriguing. *How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? Anti-fur, leather, shells, etc.? Does even faux wig you out? - I'm fine with any of that. I guess I'm what PETA would call the bad guy, idk. *How do you deal with stress? What's your favorite way to unwind? - I play World of Warcraft. Or rant to a room, empty or not. When that fails, I'll drink. *You're given the opportunity to apprentice at any trade (or craft) of your choosing for the period of one year. Your mentor may be any currently living person. Which field of study would you choose, and who would be your mentor? - I'm sort of doing that with my job at the moment since after hearing I want to be a behavior tech, the current techs are leaving tasks for me to practice with... but if I have to choose something else... I'd like to be a much better cook than I am, so I'm going to say cooking with Gordon Ramsey as my mentor because by god, if he was then I would come out of it the best cook ever. Not to mention he's a pleasure to listen to even when he's cussing up a storm. *If Beth made a perfume called "switch witch" what notes would be in it? - A cacaphony of perfumes, the scent of fresh baked goods, chocolate, and wool. *What is your favorite cookie type? - Anything that doesn't include oatmeal or raisins is good by me. I love chocolate chip, peanut butter, and snickerdoodles. *Anyone ready for the new Carnivale update? - I'll join the 'I'm ready but my wallet isn't' movement. *What are your favorite fruits? - I like pears, strawberries, and pomegranates. *so whats your totem/fetish? - This got me started looking at Celtic animal fetishes... from that tradition, I'd say that I could use the Adder, the Bear, and the Cat. If we're talking Native American totems, Coyote... and Wolf. Wolf has been a constant one for me. *What is one thing you constantly keep with you that you constantly lose? - My phone. It's always in my purse, but sometimes even when I hear it ringing I can't find it. Also my flash drive. *Lusting over anything from the Trading Post lately? - Not so much lusting. A BPAL notepad might be nice. Or a pouch. *Are you a Miyazaki fan? Do you have all the films you like, or is your collection missing one? Is there any merchandise you want? - I don't have any Miyazaki, but I do enjoy the films. So owning any of them would be good. *Do you wear lip gloss/lip balm? If so, what flavors/scents? - I do wear lip balm all the time. Right now I'm carrying Super Bad's vanilla peppermint lip balm with me... I like minty things that make my lips tingle, as well as dessert-flavored ones even if I do lick them off. I'd be happy with any kind of lip balm, as I honestly don't think I could get through the day without it. *Do you like to find out there's a package on the way or to receive a tracking number to stalk, or do you prefer surprise packages? - I'm pleased either way... though considering that my schedule is crazy it might be better to at least know that it's being sent so that I'll get around to checking the mail more often - sometimes I'm just too tired unless I know there's going to be more than bills. *Do you drink alcohol? Wine, beer or liquor? What is your favorite wine/beer/mixed drink? - As I said above, I will definitely drink alcohol. I used to hate wine, but now I like it IF it is sweet, not dry. I love dark beers... Guinness, Hobgoblin, Xingu... and as far as liquor goes, I'm currently making my way through a bottle of Black Velvet whiskey and some cheap vodka that I got when low on cash. Oh, and some Irish cream. My favorite mixed drinks, aside from chocolate flavored martinis and Fishbowls from my local watering hole... I like sours. Midori, amaretto, whiskey... if you can make it a sour I'll drink it. I will not, however, drink tequila. Ever. And I don't like the way gin affects me, I'll get clumsy and tipsy but my head's still clear enough to REALIZE it. *if i were your witch, and i wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? and, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? or would you want it for a certain element? or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? - I wouldn't object to a spell/mojo bag... right now I could use one for good health and possibly stress relief. *Anonymous postcards? - Sure! I would love it. My witch from last round sent me letters, and I really enjoyed it. *For you tea drinkers, are you partial to tea bags or loose tea? How about tea paraphernalia (and what exactly IS tea paraphernalia, cause I don't drink much tea, but my witchee may or may not be a tea fan)? - I am good with either, honestly, though I could definitely use some suppllies for loose tea - strainers, bags, what have you. *I was wondering how you feel about burned DVDs. And do you have/want Repo? - Totally okay with burned DVDs - again, my philosophy is that if I like it I will buy it and if not I'd be getting rid of it anyway. I already have Repo! *Do you collect new/used stamps? Will you like to get stamps on your mails? - I'm not too big on stamps. I never had the desire to collect them, though I did have a coin collection when I was younger... *Who collects ACEOs/ATCs? - Considering that I had to Google those to identify them... not a collector. *Switch Witches, which shoes do you own that are your favorite? What are your "daily drivers"? - Right now, I'm wearing these Roman style sandals quite a bit... cool and comfy, but stay on relatively well. When it gets colder, I have stompy boots that I wear all the time. *If you could describe yourself in 5 words, what would they be? - Sleep-deprived, overworked, caffeine addict student. *Any WKAP you're excited about? - Nope, none of it really looks like my style. *How do you feel about stationary? (pens, notepads, cards, pencils, etc.) - Pens and pencils are good, I'm always losing mine. I wouldn't mind having some nice stationery to write notes to witchees and swap partners on! *Do you use henna at all (hair or skin)? - Nope, had a sun henna'd on me once, but it didn't last long and it was because someone was doing it for free at the college. *What about 2010 Wall calenders? Or 2010 journals or appointment diaries? What subject? - I could actually use a nice 2010 calender. Preferably something with big spaces so we can write our appointments on it. Nature scenes would be great, as it'd go out in the kitchen. *What are your thoughts on Halloween decorations? - *bounce bounce squeeee* I get to carve my first pumpkin ever this year! We are going to decorate as much as we can on a budget for baby Trent's first Halloween. *What tarot card do you most identify with? - As I mentioned before, Justice is the big one, as that's the aspect of my sun sign I most identify with. As far as minor arcana, I'm caught somewhere between the Queen of Cups and the Queen of Swords. *Do you like Celtic things? (Clothes, jewelry, pictures, ect) - I love all things Celtic. And I would use all things Celtic. *Would you like more contact from your witch? (I'm talking particularly about email) - I do like contact, I put medium to close on my questionnaire, but however much my witch wants to give is fine. *Can you receive flowers at your address? - Most likely. Who is home kind of alternates around, but even if no one was there it would probably get delivered to my apartment manager's office, where I can guarantee it would be totally safe because my apartment manager is awesome.

Halloween 09 round q&a catchup!

There has been a lot of talk about chocolate, but none about Candy! What is your favorite Candy? What candy do you hate? I'm otherwise a vegetarian but sometimes give in to the temptation of eating candy (that contains gelatine - i.e. making it not vegetarian). I love candy corn and the pumpkins made out of the same stuff. I'm also quite partial to Jelly Babes and that kind of candies. I don't really like hard candies, and I dislike anything with aniseed or ginger.   Do you have a Blu-Ray player? No.   Do you have any objections to receiving downloads? Is your internet connection fast enough for you to download large files like music easily? Are there any songs, albums, movies, or TV shows that you can't find/haven't been released that you want? No objections. I don't really download TV shows or movies, though, mostly just music. Internet connection is fast enough to deal with them. Are you interested in things like home remedies for ailments, cleaning solutions, etc.? Sure! I'm interested in natural remedies, and try to buy ecological cleaning products etc. whenever possible. Everything needs to be safe to use around cats, though.   If you do any kind of craft, could you use supplies? What kind? knitting needles, yarn, amazing fabric, pinking shears, cool thimbles or pincushins, jewelery making supplies, beads, etc.? I already talked about this in my questionnaire but I love card making supplies! Especially clear stamps, embellishments of all kinds (especially Prima-style paper flowers), mica-based watercolours, pretty papers and cardstock etc. I also make jewellery but I have loads of beads and other supplies. Do sounds make you happy? What ambient noises make you smile? Music does. And the noises my cat makes, she's very talkative. When you receive your SW packages...do you like receiving things that are individually wrapped inside? or unwrapped? or both? I love when everything is individually wrapped. Unwrapped is absolutely fine, too, though!   Of course, we're all going to be grateful no matter what our witches give us, but for the record, what is your anti-present? Tell us something that you think your future witch might give you that you absolutely, unequivocally DO. NOT. WANT. Anything with meat/poultry or fur. And in b&b products, anything that smells of earth or dirt.   What BPAL scent have you never tried but always wanted to? What scent have you tried and LOVED, and haven't been able to get more of and why? Given this is a BPAL forum, this is probably strange but I'm kind of not that into BPAL anymore... I still love wearing the scents I have but I can't keep up with all the new scents that are coming out, and have never been into rares. Champagne & Roses is one I really liked when I got to sniff it so that would be one I guess. I know we're all scent sensitive here. What are your favorite non-perfume smells? Day in the life stuff? Cat's fur. Baking smells - mmm, pie! And I love the smell in the air after fireworks (although I wouldn't wear it as a perfume!).   Coffee drinkers, what types of beans to you like? I don't drink coffee.   Who has a birthday falling in this round? Not me, I'm an April baby. For those of us who like chocolate, do you like anything /in/ your chocolate, like fruit, nuts, or for the more daring among us, chilies? Yeap, all of the above. And also fondant-type centres in chocolates, like strawberry filling. Oh, and peanut butter. Are there any childhood shows/movies/games/books/etc. that still hold a really special place in your heart? The Very Hungry Caterpillar. If I send you whole spices or coffee beans, would you be able to grind them or would you prefer them preground for your convenience? I don't want coffee... but with spices, yes, would be able to grind them.   For the tea and coffee drinkers: Opinion on tea- and/or coffee-related accessories/etc? (Teaware, sugar crystals, infusers, tea chests, etc)How do you take your coffee (or tea)? Black or with cream and/or sugar? I have a lot of mugs already, infusers are welcome, though. And sugar crystals sound good. I drink black tea with milk and sugar and other varieties with just sugar or sweetener. Some kind of a storage jar for keeping my basic black tea bags might be nice.   Restaurants you'd like a gift certificate to on Restaurant.com? I don't think we have it in the UK...   How do you scent your home: tarts, reed diffusers, BPAL, candles? Tarts, mostly, but I think I want to explore reed diffusers because I'm a bit worried about open fire when I have a cat around.   What's your favorite dessert treat? Ice cream? Cake? Pie? Fudge brownie cake with pie flavored ice cream on top? Vanilla ice cream with toffee sauce. Heaven. And I love cake and pie and most desserts, really! Do you believe we control our destiny, or does our destiny control us? I believe we have some control over it, certainly... But there are things, like certain people coming into my life and I just know they're there for a reason, so that would be destiny bringing them to us. What one thing that is missing from your life would you like to have above all else? An extra room in my flat as a craft room/office space. I hate having to use my dinner table for everything. What was your favouritest job ever, and why? I loved working as a publicity & communications officer at a small charity. But hopefully my favourite jobs are still ahead of me as I'm about to start training to become a therapist.   What GC scent have you been putting off getting since it'll "always be there"? A bottle of Black Rose. And another back up of Hymn to Proserpine.   Any cooks? Could you use anything cooking related? Aprons? Cookbooks? Measuring Cups? Recipes? Herb/Spice containers? Fancy Spices? Dish Towels? Cocktail napkins? Amazing Beaded Pot Holders? (like from our very own Pottersville! ) Something else? My kitchen isn't huge so I can't fit in much new stuff to be honest. I do enjoy cooking so spices and things are definitely welcome, and smaller items.   Are you an avid reader? What's your favorite book/series? Yes, although for the past goddess knows how many years I've mainly been reading study related stuff... I love Alice Sebold's books, Gaiman's Neverwhere, Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta series (my guilty pleasure), autobiographical accounts of people's experiences in psychoanalysis/psychotherapy. What's your favorite candy to stock up on at Halloween? I don't get trick or treaters here so I don't stock up really, but I always keep chocolate for any chocolate related emergencies.   What are your phobias? I used to be phobic of spiders but I'm a lot better about it now. I still don't like anything spider related, though (although a picture of a small, cute spider on a Halloween card is absolutely fine!). I also have emetophobia - fear of vomiting/of others vomiting.   What is your favourite flower (or plant)? Roses.   Duct tape purses and wallets and things are pretty darned cool. Who else thinks so? They're not really very "me" at all, no. Some really good quality clothes for sure, and probably crafty items and probably a gift for my mum.   Who likes coloring books? Well, I like to colour in rubber stamped images with mica based watercolours... so maybe that counts. You're in the kitchen at the end of a pay period and groceries are pretty scarce. Do you take the five ingredients you find first and make something fabulous, or do you order take out? I usually have something homecooked in the freezer. Or I might get a take-away pizza, naughty naughty me... If you could decorate/redecorate any 1 room in your home, what would it be and how would you decorate it? I would definitely do up the bathroom with the walls and floor tiled with new tiles, a huge mirror and shelves, and some black/dark burgundy accessories and decorations.   Any rabid sports fans out there? What teams do you root for? Not a sports fan.   What's your favorite animal? (You can have more than one.) Cats for sure. I also love sheep.   Do you like pinup art/images? Not especially - I don't dislike them either, though.   What are your plans for Halloween? Have you made any yet? Do you have any traditions? No plans yet and no traditions, it's not really celebrated that much over here.   Who are your BPAL forum buddies? You know, people I could conspire with to Witch you! wikkidraven, Emma2403 and samarablackcat.   What is your favorite color? If I have to choose just one, then purple. Any other steampunk fans/lovers? I don't like the jewellery and otherwise, I'm not sure... not a huge fan anyway.   Is anyone playing this round of SW into ABJ? (asian ball jointed dolls) No, they kind of creep me out.   What is your favorite Halloween icon? Black cats. And witches.   Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose? A hardback copy of Sigmund Freud's The Interpretation of Dreams, a pair of dangly sterling silver and gemstone earrings, a bar of milk chocolate, a mix CD of my favourite music, a photo of my cat and a tissue with Body Shop White Musk perfume dabbed onto it to scent the whole thing.   Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? something like decorating your house or saving for a trip to the other end of the world, for example. The project of becoming me. No, seriously, becoming a good psychotherapist and working on myself in the process.   Favorite kind or take out kinda burger? Whats your burger preference? Veggie, meat or ???? A veggie cheese burger with a side of fries for me, please. Nom nom. If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? She's on a diet so healthy treats, she has a catnip habit... and little toys she can chase around the flat. Do you Tweet? What is your Twitter name? Yeap, http://twitter.com/witchlostintime (it comes from the same Tori Amos song as etienne does.)

9/13 Sw Random Questions

Oh hai Witchy! You are a saint for wading through all this self-indulgent prattle...   Who are your favorite artists/illustrators/art periods? I am a sucker for Japanese block prints, ukiyo-e - Hiroshige and Hokusai, anything involving the sea, snow or rain... I love botanical prints, and old advertising posters - especially Chicago/Columbian Exposition & railway travel posters like this.   My favorite painting, I think, is Breton's The Song of the Lark. When we lived in Chicago & had an Institute membership, I would go to the museum just to visit it. It's much bigger than the link really captures - big enough to get lost in. I love the light, the colors, that look of rapt attention, how the girl is completely transported, however briefly, away from work & hardship by the liquid twitter of the lark... I also adore the book, for what it's worth   Cranberries? Oh yes. In all shapes, sizes & formats!   Do you mind receiving used (in good condition, of course) CDs or DVDs? As long as it's playable, I actually prefer used - the bulk of our extensive collection of music & movies is second-hand.   Do you have a crush on anyone famous? Do you have a crush on any literary characters? Would you like fanfiction or fan art based on this/these people? Not a big fan fic/art person, thanks. But, since you asked, a Christian Bale/Clive Owen sandwich with a kilted Ewan McGregor on the side, plz.   You're at home, or out, and you want a snack. Something that will get you through to the next meal, or through to the end of school or what ever. What do you grab? Home: cheese, grapes, bread/crackers, or a bowl of pretzels & whatever dried fruit I have floating around... Out & about: drinkable yoghurts, Clif bars... Road tripping: Pizza-flavored Combos, peanut-butter M&Ms   Do you have a favorite BPAL bottle art? Chrysanthemum Moon has always been one of my favorites, and Tamamo-no-mae. I like the simplicity of the 2006 Yules, as well.   Is there ONE scent that you are just dying for from the Halloween update? TATTIE BOGLE. It may well smell like utter fail on me, but the association with my childhood is too strong to not at least try to find it...   Are there any decants from the Halloweenies, Literary Vampires, Gris Grimly, or Hellboy that you would be interested in receiving? I have a few Weenies on my wishlist, yes...   What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it? Autumn in PA is actually pretty nice - it's a long, slow slide into winter, unlike Chicago (2 weeks between tropical heat & bone-chilling cold). We live in a part of the state that does a lot of harvest festivals, corn mazes, pick-your-own apples, and the like. We're just on the edge of the Appalachian foothills, so there are lots of nice rolling hills that showcase the changing leaves - if we get a sudden cold snap, the colors really pop. The weather fluctuates a lot, so I'll have both my wooly socks and my floaty summer skirts in rotation for a while. I love when the nights get chilly - lots of folks have backyard firepits/chimenias around here, and there's nothing like the smell of maple wood smoke   Trader Joe's? I'm more of a Treasure Island kind of girl... anyone?   Any Amy Brown art fans? Cute, but ultimately not quite my style...   How do you feel about Halloween music? (mix CDs, what have you) Gads, no. I worked FAR too long in retail to enjoy seasonal music, as a whole.   Who else is reeeeeally looking forward to Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland? I am conflicted. The promo pictures look freakishly over-processed - I hope it's not that garishly CG... Now, Where the Wild Things Are, on the other hand...   Is there a store that you love which does not have a location near you (but that has a physical presence somewhere, not just online? Why do you love it so much? Cost Plus/World Market! Imported goodies, pick-your-own 6-packs, really interesting Christmas decorations, no-brainer last-minute gifts... Mitsuwa, Patel Brothers, all the great ethnic stores in Chicago...   If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? Very unlikely, but on the rare chance I get the TV to myself, it's very likely LotR - either the movie or the Making Of documentaries. Yeah. Dork Alert!   Lolcats....yeah or nay? Yay! Not a rabid fan, but they are a welcome laugh during the workday...   What is your favorite creepy folk story or legend?   If your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both?

SW Fall '09 questions part 4

@#^&%#$* emoticons......   Is there ONE scent that you are just dying for from the Halloween update? I'd say Boo but I'm in an awesome arrangement to get some sent my way. So, my answer is Lambs-Wool. I dismissed it originally but reading the reviews is making it look better and better. Also, I have a decant of Pumpkin V on its way to me but I'm expecting to love it and need a bottle.   Leftover Weenie decants? Sure! I'm pretty much anything on my wishlist. Lambs-Wool, Mircalla, Countess Karnstein, Pumpkin IV, Feeding The Dead, Falling Leaf Moon, Trevor Bruttenhelm... all things I'd love to get decants of.   any amy brown art fans? ME!   If you're caught in front of the tv, what are you watching? Probably the food network. I love shows like Top Chef (I know that's a Bravo show) or Chopped or those awesome cake challenges... I also like NCIS and CSI but I've watched those so much I can usually tell what episode it is in the first 30 seconds.   lolcats....yeah or nay? sure. They're funny and cute sometimes but I don't look at them everyday.   if your witch were to either write something for you or put together a collection of ghost stories, would you rather have it in writing, recorded as an oral telling, or both? either, both...   If this was for you - what kind of box would you want? Sort of medium sized or big, with cool symbols or an animal I like or some cool color combination or pattern on it.... yeah, I know that's not too specific, lol. I'm sure anything my witch thinks I'd like would be awesome.   What's autumn like in your neck of the woods? What do you love and/or hate about it? Well, here in MD we usually have a few weeks of nice, fall weather then it freezes. I love those beautiful, cool fall days where you can just look up at all the trees changing color and breathe in the fresh air. I like it cool enough for a sweatshirt, but not cold enough for a heavy coat.   What's your favorite product(s) at Trader Joe's? never been there.   For the crafty people out there: would you prefer something crafted or crafting supplies? either   Can you use pill boxes, a hard ID case, coin purse, etc? sure! I think there are some little coin case/pill box things on my etsy wishlist...   Does anyone have any symbols they consider to be personally significant or talismanic? phoenixes. And to a lesser extent, butterflies (the yellow and black ones you sometimes see.)   What mythical or fantastic race of creatures (dragons, unicorns, griffins, elves, dwarves, faeries, etc.) do you most identify with, and why? phoenixes, I don't really know why. there's just something about them.   Do you have a favorite poem or poet? I have a book of poetry by a Vietnamese woman who wrote poetry in a time very few women were educated. Those poems are so beautiful to me.   Favorite musicals? Avenue Q, Evita, The Phantom of the Opera   Which of the seven deadly sins is most likely to be your undoing? Hmmmm, I'd say lust but I don't think it really fits. Sloth maybe?   I have seen a lot of yankee candles haters..... personally i like yankee candle (some of them, anyway). do you or don't you, and if not, what candles do you like? this assumes you like candles. otherwise, what specific home fragrance do you use? I don't recall ever using a Yankee candle. I'd love to give them a try.   I am on an origami crane kick recently, so I wonder if anyone will be interested in origami crane earrings, origami crane in a glass vial (~1.2cm wide) phone charm/pendant or just a container filled with cranes of different sizes. sounds awesome!   Sock dreams? I've never ordered anything from them but I really want to!   Would you like to receive something of this nature from your witch? black box/diva boxes *shrug* I'm kind of indifferent about it.   Who wants hair pretties?(headbands, barrettes, pony-o's, scrunchies, bobby pins, hair clips, etc) I'd love some of those things. My hair is still pretty short right now (shoulder length) but I'm growing it out. Though my hair is very fine and thin so keep that in mind. Hair sticks have never worked for me (maybe I'm just doing it wrong?) And my hair just slides right out of a lot of clips and stuff.   Do you mind artificial colors in your food artificial colors are fine, no artificial sweeteners please.   How do you feel about clothing/accessories made from animals? fur and feathers kinda squick me. leather is okay though.   How do you deal with stress? What's your favorite way to unwind? Chilling out and watching something mindless with a good cup of coffee. Or reading the forum. Being on here always makes me feel good.   Alcohol: none for me thanks.   Favorite Cookie: cream cheese chocolate chip. But, in chocolate chip in general. Especially the soft chewy ones.   Tracking number?: yes please! I love to stalk! Buuuut, if my witch chooses not to give me one that's okay.   Lusting after BPTP stuff? That Pumpkin Pie Bath Oil looks awesome! and Knock-a-Dolly atmo. spray... I want a shirt. I particularly like the triple dagger one. If I was buying it for myself I'd get an XL babydoll. Also, the triple dagger yoga pants. Again, if I was buying it for myself I'd probably guess a large.   Do you wear lip gloss/lip balm? If so, what flavors/scents? YES! Love lip glass, lip balm, all that. The only flavor/scent I would not like is licorice. (Does licorice lip glass actually exist?) Everything else is okay.   Would you object to annonomous postcards (real ones) from your witch before the big reveal??? That would be super awesome!   If I were your witch, and I wanted to make you a spell or mojo bag, would you be into that? And, if you were, would you want it for something like love, prosperity or luck? Or would you want it for a certain element? Or would you want it for something more personal- and what might that be? Something for good luck I suppose. That's always good.   What is one thing you constantly keep with you that you constantly loose? I always keep my cell phone with me. As silly as that sounds. And I'm always loosing chapsticks.   What are your favorite fruits? Mmmmmm, fruit. I love me some fruit. Strawberries, oranges, apples (the tart green ones are best), pineapples, grapes (again the green ones are best), pears... the list goes on...   Do you like Villainess soaps? What are your favorite scents? YES! see my 'other companies" wishlist for scents...   Do you collect new/used stamps? Will you like to get stamps on your mails? I don't collect them but my grandmother does. Any pretty stamps sent my way will be admired by me then given to her.   For you tea drinkers, are you partial to tea bags or loose tea? How about tea paraphernalia? Tea isn't really my thing usually but when I do drink it it's just bags. I would be lost with anything else...   I was wondering how you feel about burned DVDs. And do you have/want Repo? Burned cds/dvds don't bother me. A lot of my friends have recommended Repo to me (actually, it was more like: ZOMFG! youhavetoseerepoomgitssogoodyoudloveit!!!!!!!! ) So, I'd give it a try, lol.   Talismans/familiars? Did I answer this one already? I don't think so. Snails and frogs!!!!

New round of Switchwitchery means new questions...

...and answers.   So here is the first round of Fall 09 questions I'm trying to catch up, well before the round even begins!   What are everyone's favorite Halloween-y/Autumn-y/spooky movies? Are there any you don't own but would like to? Hmmm...I don't know...I like spooky but not much real horror as it is usually too gory for me. I guess I'm pretty much covered on this.   Are roasted pumpkin seeds and home made chex mix the best fall snack foods, or what? I could eat the roasted pumpkin seeds, but chex mix (which is delicious) would send my blood sugar soaring, so, no thanks.   Whats your favorite pie, my dear SW's? I love pie, but it's another of the things diabetics (and people who are seriously close to being diabetic, like me) shouldn't really eat. That said, my favorites are coconut cream, raspberry or blackberry, and raspberry rhubarb. Oh, and lemon cream too. Oh there were so many. I find pie much preferable to cake.   What kinda socks are you wearing tonight? No socks...not cold enough yet. Actually, I pretty much only wear socks when I'm wearing boots, which would mean out of the house. Otherwise, wooly slippers do the trick. And wooly flip flops, which I'm wearing now.   Do you like socks? Blankets? Wrist warmers? Arm warmers? Headband? Shawl? Or what kind of knitted thing would you love the most? I love socks, though, see above, I only wear them when I'm out of the house. Don't let that stop you from thinking of them as a possibility though--I've been very very envious of those getting sock dream gifts or, even better, hand knit socks! But I'm even more interest in arm warmers. Or gloves. But really, if someone was hand knitting something for me I'd be delighted by anything.   How do you feel about ghost stories? Do you like to tell the old tales around a campfire? Read true accounts on the web way past your bedtime? Do you like to pick up a good anthology of Poe stories on a blustery day? Or is all that too scary for you? I LOVE ghost stories, esp. true ones. My last Witch was Kristana, the ghost hunter (ok, paranormal investigator) and she sent me her book, which I read straight through right away.   Who here is LOVING Warehouse 13? Haven't watched it yet, but maybe it is time.   Nother question! Coffee or Tea? Both, but at the moment, coffee would get more use. Love it. Dark roast. whole bean. Flavors? No nuts. But cinnamon or some other spice, or vanilla, or chocolate would be lovely.   Interested in locally produced products? Food, skincare or both? Sure!   Does anyone in here wear a lot of dangly earrings or collect pendants of all kinds? How about hair clips or pony tail band things? Pendants, yes. I love dangly earrings but can't remember the last time I wore earrings, so they probably wouldn't get much play.   What is your favourite historical period? This one. Hmmm....I'm not interested in historical periods per se, but history does interest me, esp. American history.   What other hot beverages everyone likes for fall? Cider is delish.   Did you order anything from the most recent update? Not yet. But I know there is stuff I want. I will probably order some weenies, but in case my witch is feeling flush and wants to send me some, I'll update my wishlist by indicating which ones I'm likely to order or have ordered.   Olive oil? Oh yeah. And flavored vinegar. Yum.   Lavender? No. Well, that means I don't like it in fragrance. I like it as a seasoning, and I love fresh lavender, like if my witch wanted to somehow miraculously send me a real lavender plant through the mail I would with great delight plant it in my herb garden. Dried lavender sprigs are saved for purpose magical and mundane. But I hate the way it smells in perfume.   Vampires or Werewolves? Or some other monster? Oh...zombies. One of these days I will buy the zombie survival guide (or won't--it may be one of those things I want but never buy). I like werewolves if they are really creatures that turn into wolves.   Any Gamers here? What kind? Board games? RPG? Miniature? MMORPG? I like board games. RPG and MMORPG are fun but I'm not playing any now unless unicreatures counts.   Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. Which items do you choose? A fox fetish and an owl fetish. a book of my poetry (it might bit folded, but...). Photos of my dogs. a black leather glove. Frankincense and copal resin. The Voodoo Tarot of New Orleans. Feathers. A mix CD. A bit of dirt from the Santuario at Chimayo NM.   Are you involved in any long-term, ambitious project? Too many. Since I'm a writer, there are so many on-going projects: a memoir. A collection of short stories. And this year I'm going to do nanowrimo since I have not one but two genre novels to try out. Also I'm learning to sew and play the djembe and paint with acrylics. My life is a work in progress!   Is anyone playing this round of SW into ABJ? I love looking at pics of them, and have to admit a desire to have one, but probably won't ever get one.   favorite kind or take out kinda burger? whats your burger preference? veggie, meat or ???? I love burgers. My fave are from a local bar, called the black and blue burger: blackened burger with blue cheese. I prefer gourmet burgers.   Whats your favorite childhood toy? stuffed animals, books, a simple bouncy rubber ball, and my bike.   If you have a pet, what kind of gifts would be good for them? My dogs would love gifts, but the German Shepherd shouldn't eat grains, though the other two can. Kai would love a bouncy ball. The shibas would love anything, but don't need anything, and will be seriously interested in any packages whether it includes anything for them or not.   Do you Tweet? What is your Twitter name? No. I think it would annoy me.   Are you on Ravelry? What is your Ravelry name? I don't knit.   Would any witches be interested in home-made sewn type crafts? If so, what type? (e.g. tote bags, pillowcases, laptop covers, etc..) I love homemade stuff, and anything my witch wanted to come up with would be mightly appreciated. I could use a couple more Tarot bags, probably.

more SW questions

More Fall SW questions:   any cooks? could you use anything cooking related? aprons? cookbooks? measuring cups? recipes? herb/spice containers? fancy spices? dish towels? cocktail napkins? amazing beaded pot holders? (like from our very own pottersville!) something else?   I'm eating low carb, so those kinds of recipes/cook books would be welcome. Spices are always great, and measuring devices are always in short supply around here. Dish towels too--I love those flower sack type. I am cooking a lot more since I have to.....     are you an avid reader? what's your favorite book/series?   I love to read, and can't think of favorites because there are so many. I'm still not happy that George RR Martin didn't finish the fire and ice series. One of my favorite literary series was Madison Smartt Bell's series on the history of Haiti (Master of the Crossroads et al).   an anonymous benefactor gives you $500 (or an equivalent amount of money in your currency of choice) with the following stipulations. You must spend all of it within a week: any money left unspent must be returned. You must spend at least half of the money on yourself. You may not use it to pay off debts or bills of any kind. what do you do with the money?   Of course I would have used it for bills, so good thing that stipulation was in there! I'd probably make a big BPAL order since I haven't ordered in the longest time. I'd take my boyfriend out to dinner and wouldn't let him pick where we'd go since he'd pick some place cheap. Or better yet, take the whole amount and go somewhere for the weekend? Now that sounds more fun.....
