Tzadikim Nistarim

Imp #23: Tzadikim Nistarim "Also called the Lamed Vev, two letters in the Hebrew alphabet that translate to the number thirty-six. In this violent, ugly, strife-riddled world of ours there are thirty-six men, the Hidden Just Men or Hidden Saints, who bear on their shoulders the burden of all our pain, sorrows and sins. The Tzadikim Nistarim move in obscurity, and are usually found among the poor, the downtrodden and the meekest among us, and are chosen for this task because of their righteousness, stalwart sense of genuine justice, and the true goodness of their souls. When one of these men dies, God chooses another to take his place. It is for their sake and for love of them that God does not destroy His imperfect creation. As long as the Lamed Vav serves humanity, the world will continue to plod on, but once one of them dies and God cannot find another worthy to take his place, the world will be destroyed. In Qabala, the thirty-six men of the Tzadikim Nistarim together combine to symbolize the seventy-two bridges, corresponding to the seventy-two names of God, that connect the concealed and revealed worlds of our universe. The scent is one of unadulterated spiritual purity, with a taste of the world's eternal pathos, and the joy of suffering with grace: frankincense, olive, spikenard, hyssop and galangal." I am not really familiar with any of the actual notes, except olive, so I am not surprised that I cannot pick them out. It does not strike me as olive On me: Barely sweet at all, more spicy, but sunny high notes rather than sultry low notes. I like this stage on me, and I think it would also be good on a man. 1 hour+ later: Stays fairly true to original drydown. Good throw. Sun shining down on softly glittering ancient sandstone buildings.

Summer SW Questions through 6/26

***6/25*** Are you interested in Tarot or Tarot art? Totally! Still hankering for the World Spirit Tarot, in particular... I would like to check out some of Mary K. Greer's writing on the subject, too. What would you think of soap samples/shampoo bar samples? (I believe the latter can be used as soap if you are not shampoo bar inclined). Or other sample sized bath/beauty products, for that matter? I like sample-size things! What about burnables as in candles, tarts and/or incense? I also like these things! Who knits? Do you also spin and dye? What supplies, that you wouldn't buy for yourself, would you just love to have for that activity? I knit! I'm not sure what in particular I might love that I wouldn't buy for myself, though. Pretty stitch markers, maybe? Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast? I do like coffee, but I'm often too lazy to make it for myself. I'm thinking, however, that I may just have to break down and buy myself a coffee maker with a timer on it, so I can wake up to coffee. Either whole bean or ground is good, and probably medium roast would be my preference. So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Are there any other knitted goods you might like? Lap blanket? Fingerless gloves? Arm warmers? Little knitted animals? Silk scarf? Head band? Wrist cuff? Dish clothes? Normally I knit for other people, rather than for myself, so anything someone felt like knitting for me would be super neat! ***6/26*** How are you doing for BPAL storage? Need any boxes? Imp storage would be welcome! Is there any place you've visited where you feel like you left your heart there? Hmm. San Francisco would be the obvious answer, but it's been 15 years since I was there. Bet I'd still love it, though. Paris, definitely. Laguna Beach, maybe, just a little? What one item would you just love to have that is made by a Switch Witch? Handmade stuff is love -- I don't know if I could pick just one thing! Is your abode a palace covered in fur, a disaster area ,or a neat freaks delight? It is both a palace covered in fur AND a disaster area! Now that my class is over I'm hoping to improve on that a little bit, however. Are there any phobias you have that you absolutely, positively, do NOT want anything from your witch referencing? I think clowns are creepy. Also, moths. Are you a good witch or a bad witch? Wouldn't YOU like to know? What kind of a car do you drive and would you want something you could use in your car? Rear view mirror charms, steering wheel covers (a new thinkg for the knitters ), car blessing medicine bags No car of my own, though I share my partner's Scion XA when the need arises. Don't think it needs anything, per se, but I wouldn't turn any such gifts away! Do you want to know when you have something coming in the mail, or would you rather it be a complete surprise? Perfectly content either way, though I'm going to be out of town some this month (7/17 to 7/20 and 7/25 to 8/1) so it would be nice to know if I need to give the housesitter a heads-up. What is your mailbox situation? Standard house mailbox; larger parcels get left on the front porch, under an overhang, so they won't get rained on or anything, but could potentially get hot if the timing is off (the Boy is usually home when the mail carrier comes, but not always).

***6/22*** Based on Prior Carnivale act prototypes...which one are you truly excited about? Hmm. Don't know that I'm "truly excited" about any of them, but certainly curious; I always love seeing what Beth comes up with! And the art looks awesome, as usual. Would it bother you if you are not the first person to receive the same gift? Imagine a Witch who always sends her favourite book, for example. Not at all -- I think that's neat. Pets: What do you have, and do they need/want anything? Two dogs and two cats. They don't NEED anything, of course. The kitties like catnip and little toys, and natural treats are always welcome for either canines or felines. Does anyone play video games? What platform(s)? Are there any new or vintage games you would like? I think I'm okay on this front for now. Twilight fans, would you be interested in any products from this Etsy seller? If so, add the items you like to your Etsy favorites and make sure your wishlist is posted somewhere for your witch. N/A. (In other words, not a Twilight fan. Not that I'm necessarily knocking it, given that I haven't read the books or seen the movie, but it just doesn't seem like my thing.) Are you in need of decanting supplies, wand caps, or other scent-related paraphernalia? Mostly no, but I think I might like to try a roller-bottle, if you have one handy. Nothing you need to make a special trip for or anything. ***6/23*** Anyone reading an amazing book right now? Sadly, no. Maybe soon? What socially respsonsible site would you recommend to ALL Witches? This seems like a good question to answer in-thread... if I had an answer. It's a great question though, and I will have to go check out what other people said! What is your favorite anime, or if you don't like that what is your favorite animated series? My favorite animes remain Ranma 1/2 and Escaflowne. Of course, I haven't actually watched them in ages (I've got them on disc, but it's a format I can only watch on my computer, and I just haven't had the inclination. My lap gets hot.). But, there you are. Do you like villians that are funny because they are meant to be, or are you like me and love the villian that just can't seem to get his evil schemes to work? I appreciate a good (or, you know, bad) villain, period. Heath Ledger's Joker, Wile E. Coyote, it's all good. Tea. How do you feel about it? I like it! If I'm able to be choosy, though, I would prefer sample-sizes, since my winter witch left me pretty well stocked, for the most part. Would my future witchee like to receive steampunk style jewelry? I... um... it depends? It's one of those things that I wouldn't necessarily seek out on my own, but I'd bet that if someone picked something out with me in mind, I'd like it. Does that make sense? Does your feline like catnip? Salt soap bars (soap made with a large quantity of salt, like salt-scrub-in-a-bar)? I definitely love the idea. I bought one of Magic Hands Workshop's Margarita bars that I haven't used yet but am looking forward to, and I would be pleased as punch to have more to try! How would you feel about homemade jelly/jam from home-grown berries? *DROOL.* Yes plz? Homemade dill pickles? Made from cukes, beans, snap peas, baby zucchini? OM NOM NOM! I like pickled things. Well, pickled veggie-type things, anyway. (Pickled pigs feet and pickled eggs and such kinda scare me.) ***6/24*** Are you obsessed with honey? If so, is there a particular kind you like best? Spun honey, flavored honeys, certain types of honey....etc. Obsessed, no. But I do enjoy honey. I haven't really branched out much from plain ol' clover honey, but I would be thoroughly tickled to be enabled! What are your favorite materials? Or material things? Some people like jewelry, some like woods, some plants... Err... huh. This is a neat question, but I don't really know how to answer it. I'm a fairly tactile person, so I like a pretty wide variety of materials/textures. As far as plants go, I would like to have another aloe plant someday, but before that point I should probably get back into the habit of caring for the plants (er... probably plant, singular, from the looks of it) I have, starting with figuring out what those damn white spots are... Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with? Hmm... another good question that I'm not sure how to answer. Guitar-playing tips are welcome, for sure. How to cook Indian food, maybe? Posters, yes or no? Hey, if you find one that you think is up my alley, then why not? What are your favorite animals? Or, what animals resonate strongly with you? Cats of all sizes, especially mountain lions of late. Coyotes and wolves. Crows and ravens. Horses, especially wild horses and big draft horses. Are there any historical figures you are particularly interested in - say, that you'd enjoy reading about, or movies, etc.? Stealing Cuervo's suggestion of Toussaint L'ouverture. Sojourner Truth. Gertrude Stein. Frida Kahlo. Probably others. What, if anything, are you earwormed with right now? Nothing right this second, thank goodness! What scent are you wearing right now, if any? Nothing at the moment. My most recent scent was 13 (Feb 09).

***7/3-5*** Do you play any musical instruments? Which ones? If not, are there any you'd like to learn? What styles of music do you play, and are you interested in learning any different styles? I have this quiet dull yearning to learn ocarina. Yes, because of Legend of Zelda. Are you partial to any kind of comedy? Dark comedy as can be found in Heathers and the like. Also absurdist comedy like from NewsRadio. What did you do for the 4th and/or the holiday weekend? I made hamburgers for the very first time and enjoyed a day off of work. Partials, samples, sniffies? Oh all the way! Have you read anything by China Mieville, Neil Gaiman or Charles de Lint? If so, what? Like/dislike...?? I don't like de Lint at all. Neil Gaiman I've read a couple of things, but I would like more. His newest stuff I haven't even touched yet. I am unfamiliar with China Mieville. Other than books/cds/dvds are there any "things" that you collect or symbols which you have an affinity for? I think I already covered this on my survey, but I collect wigs in unnatural colors and anything to do with the television series Firefly or its corresponding feature film Serenity. As far as a symbol? I'm still looking for one. Do you like musicals? What have you seen? What do you want to see? Any you'd like to own? I like Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Buffy's Once More With Feeling and Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog. I also wonder if I would like Sweeney Todd, but I've never seen it. What are your thoughts on J.R.R. Tolkein? Is that spelled correctly? Anyway, I'm a sucker for anyone who makes up their own languages. I've only read part of the Lord of the Rings series though. I did see all the films, which I liked well enough. If you answered that you would like recipes, are there any national or ethnic cuisines you prefer or don't prefer? No recipes please, as I really cannot cook, but I do like Spanish cooking. If you find some inexpensive, but natural saffron, I'll be your slave! What's your favorite summer activity? Nightswimming! But I rarely get a chance to do so anymore. My gym used to have a 24 hour pool, one that was open outdoors in the summer. Now it's just open until midnight, which is too early for me (night owl here). Would you like a recipe booklet (homemade) for homemade smoothies and shakes? Please no! It would only be ignored or if I decided to chance it, 'twould only result in a mess in my kitchen and some inedible byproduct. What's your favorite vacation spot? Costa de Sol, Spain and the Yuba River. Would you like anything nostalgic? Things you loved from their childhood or maybe things you've always loved that were from a time before your own? Nostalgic? Well, I sort of wear fairy wings and play with face paint and read children's books, so I'm kind of caught in nostalgia either way. I do miss slap bracelets.... ***7/2*** What styles of jewelry do you like? Bold and funky? Delicate and dainty? Short necklaces, long ones, chokers? Bracelets or anklets? I covered this in my survey, but to sum up: I like bold an funky and Kawaii-ish. Cutesy and brightly-coloured, and also elegant and dark and gothic. I like short necklaces or ones no longer than 18" (the chain at least). Chokers me likes. Bracelets and anklets, no! Does my witchee like hats, a floppy summer sun hat or something more stylish? Would you like a hand knit cap or hat? I love hats! Any kind except please no bonnet styles or a baseball caps. I already have a Jayne hat though. What kind of shopper are you? Do you make a budget? Planner, or compulsive? Do you like to buy what's new, special offers, only the usual? I can never do a budget, but I am trying to plan and prioritize more. TMI: I went for several years rotating the same two bras (one black, one white) because I kept putting off buying new ones and instead, spent the money on hair accessories, cosmetics, and bath products. Luckily, I had some money recently and Victoria's Secret had a sale, so I landed three new pretties! ***7/1*** Non-melting candies....what are your favorites? Butterscotch hard candies and sour patch kids (those don't melt much, right?). What are you happiest about (besides SW)? What makes you feel good this summer? Any summer? I'm happy to have a roof over my head and cheesy television playing in my bedroom, and a cupboard of indulgent products, and LOADS OF BOOKS! Nothing in particular makes me feel good this summer, but I don't feel down either. I'm not a fan of the humidity, but fortunately, we haven't had too many unbearable days yet this season. Do you like coffee and/or wine? Not really. I like the way coffee beans/grounds smell, however. What are your thought on World Market? Umm, the website? I like to browse it, sure. If you are a dog lover, or gigantic dog nerd like I am, would you like any breed-related items from this site? If so, which breed(s)? I like canines well enough, but have never known any very well. I would like one someday, but not in the near future. A witch wants to cheer you up. What are we cheering you up from? In other words, what are the most pressing problems you're facing right now? General feelings of inadequacy and occasional frustrations with financial matters. Also, things at work have been really rough lately, on both a personal and professional level. But I have a good support system and I keep training myself on how to deal with life's little curve balls. Nothing of terrible calamity has happened to me nor mine recently, so I really can't complain too much. Who out there is equally challenged and would appreciate icons/banners as witchy gifts? Ooo. I'd be game. Something to do with Firefly or Tamora Pierce, or just something you think of now getting to know me from my survey. I have enough icons right now though, so no pressure. Just if you feel inspired. Lip balm? Not in a jar, but otherwise, yum, yum. I'm into natural balms with nourishing ingredients. I already have a tart warmer, and plenty of tarts, so don't trouble yourself on that end. What is your favorite classic fairy tale or children's story ? Probably the Maid Maleen. Sorry there are no paragraphs in that one, but I believe it's verbatim and the version I liked. I don't know why I liked this tale. Perhaps because of what she accomplished with her handmaid without any help. It's not a hugely inspiring or distinctive tale, but I liked it nonetheless. Good Judy: Pickled Punk

Pickled Punk Category: Curio Shop Quantity: sample Description: PICKLED PUNK When two become one, what once was is now forever...only never to be. Ghastly to some. Fascinating to others. A medical marvel to all. This bicephalic form floats, peaceful, in a man-made womb with a view…perfectly preserved for your curiosity and pleasure. Tangerine, pink pepper, talc Review: In the bottle: A lovely, spicy tangerine. I doesn’t smell too fruity or too sweet, but not too spicy either; it’s well balanced. Wet: It’s orange on my skin! I should have thought about it, it was orange in the bottle. The tangerine is juicy and fruity, but it’s mixed with a spice, and I’m not even sure it’s pepper. In fact, it smells like clove on me. It reminds me of those Christmas ornaments made of whole oranges picked with clove. Dry: I finally get some of the talc, which separates the ingredients a little bit. Therefore, I can smell the pink pepper better, or at least for what it really is. However, there’s not enough tangerine left (at least in my opinion, and I love tangerine). Verdict: I can see there’s an interesting concept behind this one, and the smell of it is also very interesting; but unfortunately, it’s not enough to convince me. It works fine as a gender-neutral blend, but it doesn’t suit my skin type very well, and it doesn’t last very long. Too bad.

I don't wear a lot of nail polish. I could use an eyebrow/eyelash comb/brush thingie. What colors and brands do you like? ........Stila, Tarte, Sonia Kashuk, Bobbi Brown, MAC, Clinique, Becca, ...all different brands. I like neutral colors. Which flavors are you interested to try from the Chocolate Research Facility? Ooo, they have so many! I generally like chocolate with nuts and caramel, and especially marzipan. Do you wear makeup or nail polish? Need brushes, containers, storage, mani/pedi supplies? What colors and brands do you like? I don't wear makeup other than lip gloss, and my last SW stocked me up on that. I don't usually wear nail polish either since I have to wear gloves at work and wash my hands a million times a day... it doesn't hold up well. My hair doesn't really "do"... it's all slippery and doesn't like to stay in a style so the closest I get to an adornment is the occasional black elastic band holding it in a pony tail. Is there any infomercial product you're dying to try even though you know it probably sucks? Thankfully I've managed to avoid infomercials. I've also swapped knitting for other crafty skills and would be willing to do so again. Well I'm not all that easy to offend, but most of these things just aren't really my style. Profanity is ok in music if you think I'll love the music, otherwise it's best to avoid. Scantily dressed people of either gender don't really offend me, but they're also not my cup of tea. And crude/immature humor just isn't funny to me. In fact, most of the things that are supposed to be funny aren't to me. I think I just have a very odd / dry sense of humor. But certainly none of these on a t-shirt! What do you like to snack on? Kettle Korn, I'm obsessed. Other than that mostly beverages - I'm a big fan of coffee milk tea and Thai iced tea this time of year, and chai during the winter. Currently it's a fur-covered disaster area, but now that I have a new vacuum and will have weekends off work it should be getting better. I'd like to say I'm a bad witch, but I'm a total goody two shoes. What kind of a car do you drive and would you want something you could use in your car? Rear view mirror charms, steering wheel covers (a new thinkg for the knitters ), car blessing medicine bags I don't have a car, so no car things necessary. I don't really care much about surprises so if you want to warn me I'd be glad to know. What is your mailbox situation? I have a small locking mailbox but most packages won't fit in there - my mail carrier usually just leaves them outside my door. If the package is meltable and it's possible you might want to try to time it to arrive on a Saturday. Or I'm sure there's a way to mark it not to leave? Then I'll have to go retrieve it at the PO, but that's fine with me.

Imp #22: Delphi "The smoke of Sacred Incense of Apollo twined through laurel branches, bay, and honey wine." Note: Very end of cycle. Imp from littleone101701's sales. In the bottle: Laurel and bay with honey in the background. This is heady and a bit smokey. On me: The honey steps up a little, and the scent is less green. The notes are more blended. It is becoming more like what I hoped for, but less incense than I expected. I had expected this to be the dark cave of the oracle, but it is the bright day on the field of Olympic competition. 1 hour+ later: Smokier, but still bright. Not much change from initial dry down. I think this will be a good scent to wear to work, as it is not as sultry as Athens.

Athens

Imp #21: Athens "A reformulation and modernization of a true Classical Greek perfume, myrrhine: voluptuous myrrh, golden honey, red wine, and sweet flowers." Note: Very end of cycle. Imp from littleone101701's sales. In the bottle: Very sweet but also a tiny bit sour in a good way, like a Flemish sour, which happens to be one of my favorite styles of beer. There is something deep, but the honey jumps out at me, followed by the flowers, making this a bright scent. On me: Out comes that sour that I like - the wine? -- and especially a spiciness -- myrrh? 1 hour+ later: Still spicy with a light sweetness and light floral. The floral notes remind me of Sea of Glass, but here they are accompanied by a spicy red wine. To me, this scent is a summer evening drinking red wine in the temple gardens.

Salomé

Imp #20: Salomé "A scent that is both coquettish and sinister. Exotic and lush, brimming with grace and viciousness: almond with star jasmine, oakmoss, red sandalwood and Egyptian musk." Note: End of cycle. Imp from fruitycake's sales. In the bottle: The sandalwood and musk are strong, with an undercurrent of almond. It invokes a closed room with curtains drawn but fluttering and sandalwood burning in a brazier. On me: The almond and jasmine come forward, blended together to create one scent that is both and neither. They do not step far forward, and are anchored by the woodiness of the oakmoss & sandalwood and the musk, like a girl dancing in the flickering light and obscuring smoke of the brazier. 1 hour+ later: I really like this. It is what I was hoping for from Scherezade.

An hedgehog in my garden

Last night, a friend of mine came, we walked around, had an ice cream, and when she was supposed to go home, we stood in the parking area and talked a lot. We noticed an hedgehog wandering in my garden: so cute! It's not really a garden, it's really unkempt and almost wild: but in spring it's covered with violets, and sprinkled with primroses. There are tits feeding on fir cones, and goldfinches on maple seeds, and sometimes a squirrel.

Still more questions answered for my Witch!

Questions by my witch (who has been very busy!): Nail polish, yes or no? And if yes, what are your color preferences? Yes! Caramels and dusky pinks. Natural colours rather than bright ones, though. Who is your favorite book character from a book? Oh, this is a tough one - there are so many! Um... Okay, I'll narrow it down to three: 1. Phedre no Delaunay from Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel sextet: sexy, sub, and strong, with a thirst for knowledge and the wisdom to know when to use it. 2. Esmay Suiza from Elizabeth Moon's Serrano Legacy series: competent, conservative, and clever - I love that she grows into herself through the course of the last four books of the series. 3. Mara of the Acoma from Janny Wurtz/Raymond E Feist's Daughter of the Empire series: intelligent, political, and innovative - taking her House from the verge of extinction to the highest honour in the Empire. What is your biggest pet peeve? I have many. Uh, people who enter a debate, but don't bother running their posts through spellcheck. If you want people at a high standard to listen to your words, then you have to aim for their standard of writing and arguing. Someone might have an IQ of 163, but if they can't be bothered to use the basics of language and grammar in communication, then they might as well not be in the debate at all... And the general ones! Honey? Love it. All types and kinds. It would have to be vacuum-sealed though, and quite obviously clear, because I’m not sure if there are customs requirements that forbid honeys and stuff coming through to Australia. Coffee? I do love coffee, but it would have to be pre-ground; we don’t have a grinder, and short of tipping a whole bag of beans into the hopper at work, there’s no point in me getting smaller bags. Tarot art? Not really. The art might be interesting if it was in a style I liked - say, art nouveau - but divination is not my thing. Is your abode a palace covered in fur, a disaster area, or a neat freaks delight? A disaster area. The fur is incidental. My kitty, she is tabby and each individual fur is striped black and white and brown. No matter what I wear, I’m fairly certain to be doomed to have fur show up on it... Mailbox sitch? Uh, the way it works down here is that letters and most padded mailers go in the mailbox. If there’s a box that’s too big to fit in, then the local post office slips you a card to say, ‘come pick up your stuff’. If it’s a registered post, or something you have to sign for, then, again, the local post office slips you a card to say ‘come sign for your stuff’. BPAL storage? I could do with a box to keep my bottles in! The GC imps I keep in a partitioned toolbox by alphabetical name, with separate ones for the LEs and rares. It doesn’t look very elegant, but it’s functional and easy to carry along to M’nSs! I left my heart in... I've travelled a lot, but I've never left my heart anywhere. The cities of the world are great to visit and the wonders off the beaten track are beautiful to behold, but the only place that calls me back each time is home. I’m always travelling - I love being free! And so I keep leaving the sun and the sea. But my heart lies waiting over the foam... I still call Australia home!

Summer SW Questions 6/25

Are you interested in Tarot or Tarot art? I think some Tarot cards are pretty, but that's about it. What would you think of soap samples/shampoo bar samples? (I believe the latter can be used as soap if you are not shampoo bar inclined). Or other sample sized bath/beauty products, for that matter? I rarely use bar soap and I'm not really a fan of solid shampoo. What about burnables as in candles, tarts and/or incense? I am a fan of scented or beeswax candles, but I have quite a few. Who knits? Do you also spin and dye? What supplies, that you wouldn't buy for yourself, would you just love to have for that activity? I knit and spin and occasionally dye. I think I have all of the supplies I need - I've been a bit indulgent lately. But if my witch is dying to get me something knit-spin related I wouldn't mind a pretty orifice hool / WPI tool for spinning. Otherwise I'm really doing just fine. Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast? I only drink coffee-flavored beverages, like mochas and such, and I don't make coffee at home. So you have enough socks and wraps... (shush, VCW!) Are there any other knitted goods you might like? Lap blanket? Fingerless gloves? Arm warmers? Little knitted animals? Silk scarf? Head band? Wrist cuff? Dish clothes? I'd appreciate any knitting gift, though I think knitted dish cloths are just too pretty to use. Knitted animals would be cute! Are you obsessed with honey? Do you like villains that are funny because they are meant to be, or are you like me and love the villain that just can't seem to get his evil schemes to work? I don't watch anime and I don't really have a favorite animated series either. I like villains that are good at what they do, but I don't think they're funny. My favorite Disney character was Maleficent. Tea. How do you feel about it? I like it, but only some kinds. would my future witchee like to receive steampunk style jewelry? I suppose. I'm not super steampunk, but jewelry would be fine. Does your feline like catnip? Probably, but I try to keep them from it. Salt soap bars (soap made with a large quantity of salt, like salt-scrub-in-a-bar)? I'd give it a try. How would you feel about homemade jelly/jam from home-grown berries? Yes! Especially if it was blackberry! Homemade dill pickles? Made from cukes, beans, snap peas, baby zucchini? Sure. Based on Prior Carnivale act prototypes...which one are you truly excited about? Uh... prototypes? Well, I really like Zarita... Would it bother you if you are not the first person to receive the same gift? Imagine a Witch who always sends her favourite book, for example. That would be fine by me if it was something my witch thought I would like. Pets: What do you have, and do they need/want anything? I have two cats, and they're pretty well spoiled. They can't really eat treats because of dietary restrictions, but they'd probably appreciate toys. Does anyone play video games? What platform(s)? Are there any new or vintage games you would like? I don't. I'd like to get an Xbox 360 so I can watch instant Netflix and play RockBand with people I know in Boston, though... Twilight fans, would you be interested in any products from this Etsy seller? If so, add the items you like to your Etsy favorites and make sure your wishlist is posted somewhere for your witch. Not particularly, though I wouldn't mind trying it. Are you in need of decanting supplies, wand caps, or other scent-related paraphernalia? I'd love some wand caps, otherwise I'm doing pretty well.

Honey: well honey and i have a love hate thing. I really love sweet rich flower honeys liek cloer and apple. But they do weird thigns to my sugar. I do a seriously manic buzz then i colapse into an almsot coma state where i am Unable to wake up. It scares the hubby when even pinching me dosn't wake me, so i don't eat much honey. Is there anything you've been wanting to learn that your witch might be able to help you with? As i said i would lvoe to learn hand quilting and would be willigbn to TRY easy knitting. Do you like coffee? Whole bean or ground? Bold/Medium/Mild roast? ewwee, why coffe dosn't taste as good as it smells is such a mystery. So no coffe please. So you have enough socks and wraps... I am not so much as a material as a texture. I Love well doen wood work that is waxed and feels like satin. I LOVE the texture of silks and satins, it really a part of who i am. Part of which is because they were just in the card board box i got them in. I have always had the plain cards. Witch/Swap help!

For Witches, Sneaky Swap Fairies, and on the off-chance someone is looking for a gift for me! cosmetics, scents, creams, and unguents I am actually a very non-cosmetic person. BPAL is an addiction as much for the community and fun of it as it is for the lovely scents. That said, I do love scented/oiled bath bombs and will use them quite happily. Hand- and foot-creams likewise, but I always forget about body butters. My adored BPAL scents tend to be the expensive and rare ones, alas! However, some of my GC favourites include Persephone, Centzon Totochin, Bon Vivant, Salon II: Arrival At The Sabbath, and Whip. My Carnivale Diabolique favourites so far are Ashultum, Inez, Wulric Wolfman, and Priala The Human Phoenix. crafty things I would love knitted socks if you're a knitting kind of person. I would adore spun wool if you're a spinning kind of person. I do some quilting, mostly for friends and family - weddings and significant birthdays. I have a Dollfie, but she sits on the shelf and gets little-to-no love from me. I have a plethora of ponies (My Little Ponies) that I've always planned to do up, but have never actually worked on. Card-making, ATCs, and scrapbooking are things I enjoy doing, but don't actually do that much of. I ought to work more on it...in all the free time I don't have! books, reading, writing, art I do a fair amount of reading - mostly fantasy, sci-fi, and romance, although I’m also a sucker for a good mystery. I write a little - mostly fanfiction, although I've written some spec fic pieces before. If you write fanfiction, I would adore, pimp, and bless you for years for an action-adventure/drama Stargate Atlantis fic about John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagan. Art is a subjective thing, but I love a whole bunch of types and kinds, from the beautifully detailed paintings of the Romantics, to the fluid lines of Art Nouveau furniture and jewellery, to the lovely clean lines of cartoons, comics, and anime/manga. In the end, though, I'm reasonably 'mainstream' in my interests, so you shouldn't have trouble finding anything for me! I'm easy, honestly!

Summer SW questions through 6/21

***6/19*** For non-US witches: is there anything from the US you'd love that you can't get where you live now? N/A: US witchee. How many potential witchees have an iPod, or download MP3s? I have an iPod nano that’s nearly three years old, but still ticking (knock on wood)! Plus ridiculous amounts of music in iTunes. So, in short, yes to both. ***6/20-21*** Are there any single notes (likely non bpal) that anyone is dying to have/try? I’d be interested in sniffies of pretty much any single note, for purposes of educating my nose. For wearable purposes, I think I’d like incensy stuff (I adore the new Strawberry Moon, but I think I might like it even better with a hint of incense added), clove, and maybe carnation? net flick or the likes gift subscriptions? A month of Netflicks vs a DVD? I’ve already got Netflix, but I’m always game for suggestions of things I really must add to the queue, anything from episodes of MST3K I haven’t yet seen to documentaries I really need to check out. Adorable Japanese characters? Huh? I’ll have to go back and see what the context of this question was… on a shirt? Maybe. In doll form? Doubtful. My fiance sent me an early dvd rip of Coraline that he was given (pretty sure it's not been released yet, but I sometimes have a hard time keeping up) and I was wondering if anyone would like a copy of it? Hrm. I have some anxieties about the potential copyright violation aspect of this, but the fact of the matter is that I would still probably buy the DVD for the special features and pass the rip along to a friend who’s strapped for cash, so, in short, hey, sure, why not? Do you collect dolls or miniatures? What kind? Do you like to get new clothes or items for them? I’ve enjoyed looking at other peoples’ pictures of their dolls, but no, not a doll person myself. If you were to make a seasonal mix CD for this summer, what would you name it? It would depend on the songs; usually I pull a title from one of the lyrics, something that seems apropos. For example, for the mix I made the summer I moved from Connecticut to New Mexico for grad school, I used “Something Exciting About Leaving Everything Behind” from Butterfly Boucher’s “Another White Dash.” Would you like any recycle/upcycle supplies for your crafting? Sure! Is there a program you might have missed or show you love which is gone from the airwaves which might be found (or burned) for you by a Witch? The first season of Twin Peaks, which I only have on video; MST3K episodes (should my witch be curious, I’ll see if I can’t work up a list of the ones I’ve seen); Sheep in the Big City (which I wouldn’t have remembered had another SW not mentioned it in the thread, but that’s where I got two of my LJ icons from!)… Do you play any online games, like World of Warcraft? If so, what server do you play on, what's your character's name, etc.? Nope. Would anyone like bath bombs or bath melts scented with one of their favorite BPAL scents? I do these for myself sometimes and find them to be quite enjoyable. That would be awesome! Do be warned, however, that it is summer in Kansas, and while nothing should be sitting on my porch for too too long, things melt quickly out there. Would you like homemade cinnamon buns or sticky buns? Would I like them? For sure. Should you send them to me? Debatable, both because of the aforementioned heat, and then there’s the weight issue, which I won’t go into because I end up annoying even myself with it, but suffice it to say that if you feel inclined to bake for me I would love you for it, but if you could perhaps limit the quantity, I would appreciate that. Is there anyone here that likes Hello Kitty or any other Sanrio Characters? I like Tuxedo Sam (penguin!), though I don’t know if he’s around anymore, as well as Badtz Maru (grumpy penguin!) and her sister Hana Maru (sweet seal!). Any non NZ or Aus witchee that I get gets Tim Tams, OK? OK, then! But, um, again with the limiting quantity… thx…

SW, SW, SW!

Adding some questions for my SW's illumination (or overwhelmation....oh, shoot, that isn't a word! ) ***6/29*** Do you like coconut? yeah, but I like coconut milk/cream mostly, and probably am not crazy about coconut unless it is simply an ingredient in something else. Puddin' posts ebay sales of older stuff every now and then - what of the current lot are you dying for? Nuttin'. I've pretty much tried and passed on anything I would want from that list. Do you tweet? Nope What kind of mythology are you interested in? All kinds, but especially African, Celtic, Native American, Japanese. But really, it all intrigues me, except that while I'm not against Egyptian, I'm also not terribly compelled by it, and the same is true of Classic Greek/Roman....I mean, I know it fairly well, am conversant in how it shows up in literature, but it doesn't really speak to me. ***6/28*** Do you wear makeup or nail polish? Need brushes, containers, storage, mani/pedi supplies? What colors and brands do you like? I don't wear much makeup (but am still fascinated by mineral makeup esp. eyeshadow. I desperately need brushes. I LOVE nailpolish, though I mostly just do my toes, with occasional forays into fingernails. I like reds with blue undertones, purples, gold/bronze, black, sparkly stuff in all fun colors, though I tend to go for pink/red/orange on the toenails (I'm WAY more adventurous on the toenails....on the fingernails I pretty much stick to cool (ie winter/blue undertones) which I know will look ok with my skintone. Do you like shiney hanging porch decorations like windchimes or those things that spin and swirl in the wind? Oh my yes! Was absolutely craving windchimes recently (though I want them to sound good!). And those spinning things? Love 'em! Garden things or things to hang in trees fascinate me! Hair adornments? My hair is not conducive to this in its current layerd state. Is there any infomercial product you're dying to try even though you know it probably sucks? I don't watch enough tv to know.... What are your favorite websites (besides this one, and the online shops you listed in your questionnaire)? Oh! everyone has totally enabled me on this, but at the moment, right now, I'm mostly occupied by unicreatures. Do you tweet? I'm not listening! I'm not listening! I refused facebook for the longest time too, but really, I am NOT going to do Twitter. With all this talk of chocolate, do you prefer milk or dark? Some go better with some flavors, but generally I prefer milk. That said, if it is exotic and interesting, dark works ok. I don't like plain chocolate of either stripe, and since I'm not really a chocoholic, what appeals more is the the flavors it is mixed with. Exotic and interesting will get my attention. What of the summer update (Egyptian, Lawn Ornaments, etc.) appeals most to you? I am interested in sniffing the goat one and Laboris solis (which I am sure I misspelled) I got St. John's Eve and it is Do you have an electric stove, and would you like a bowl and tarts to use the residual heat (and for extra safety)? I don't really like flavored coffees except will drink vanilla/chocolate or cinnamon on occasion (and right now I am on a cinnamon kick which means putting a stick in the brew thingy) I like Indonesian (batak esp. which comes from Lake Toba which is a beautiful place I have very fond memories of) and Guatemalan esp (though the neither is that bold). I mostly drink french roast or italian roast though.
