Answers to witchy questions, part the first

I was asked to post some answers and I obey!   How big cage/perch does your pretty bird have/need? Macaw size/safe perches. He's a big bird! The cage itself is 24" across, both ways. A little bigger works because I can put it in at a diagonal. Also smaller if it only has the bolt at one end of it (the perch in that style is the only one still surviving, but that's concrete and he doesn't like sitting on it.) I want to get him manzanita wood, but I want to be able to pick them out myself to make sure that they didn't crack where the bolts were put in. The local petshop only has them up to the size for conures, which isn't nearly large enough for him. The pretty bird is, BTW, named Pistachio. He's a wonderfully talkative African Grey who wants to eat my fingers and adored my father.   Favorite Herbs? To cook with or smell or for ritual use?   Absolutely favorite die of squee food: Really really really sharp cheddar cheese. So sharp that it bites back. The sharper the better. The best I've ever had was aged for close to a decade and I considered crying when it was gone. I'm also a sucker for homemade baked cheesecake, made from scratch. Fresh from the fridge after it was fresh from the oven. Mmmmmmm.   Would you like things for your classroom? Children's books, stickers, corny teacher store decorations, good job rubber stamps, things like that? I could definitely use more borders. Those are one thing that wasn't left by the teacher I replaced! I picked up some at the dollar store but they don't have much of a selection. Maybe your dollar stores have better selections! Those little 'dot' stickers are good -- the ones that have hundreds and hundreds in a pack and each one is only about the size of a fingertip? I use a lot of those. Stamps ... I'm okay with. There are a couple I want to acquire, but those are very specific things. Books I'm actually pretty good on for the moment. I inherited a lot of things and I tend to stalk used booksales obsessively.   What is the circumference of Queenie's neck? I'll measure tomorrow, though really ... Queenie doesn't need any neck decor, but thank you. The only thing that she tolerates is the collar, and that barely -- she's determined to get rid of the jingling tags, somehow. It's actually kind of funny to watch -- but this is why the evil dog has a collar that snaps together rather than one that buckles. No ends for her to get ahold of, the imp.   ETA: Queenie's neck is an impressive 18 1/4" around. At least, that's the size her collar is set at, which is tight enough to stay on and not so tight that it drives her completely insane. I'm sad. The dollar tree doesn't have any more of the collars like the one she has on, which I love. I'd decided to pick up a couple and stash them away but they're all out.   Pets' favorite types of toys?   Queenie loves Nylabones -- the ones with the larger ends on them, though not the flavored because I'm not going to encourage her to eat them. She also likes mismatched socks and shreds them into little pieces quite happily. Stuffies that she can carry around and gnaw on are popular, too. Stuffies that squeak are less popular with mom, though! Balls are ever popular and she has this amusing ability to play soccer with larger balls. Not such a good indoor/winter toy/game, but very entertaining over the summer. She doesn't like Kongs. They seem to scare her, poor baby.   ETA: She really does love toys that squeak. And despite the 'driving me insane' factor, I keep getting them for her. The most recent acquisition is a rubber sandwich that looks like someone took a bite out of the side of it that I picked up at the dollar store. I had a hard time choosing between the sandwich, the pear, and the ear of corn! So cute!   The cats are overly fond of bouncy balls and my toes. Also things that are catnip scented and shoestrings. Little balls of paper and packing peanuts are also popular. Also barrettes, hair elastics and BPAL imps that they find and can knock onto the floor. Evil brats. Oh, and empty boxes are GREAT fun.   Stach likes anything he can chew apart and Tee loves baby toys -- seriously. The best toys for her that I've found are fun baby toys from yard sales. I tend to favor the large macaw toys for Stach because while he's only an African Grey, he's very smart and devious. One of his longest favorite toys is a long bolt with an assortment of nuts on it and an endnut soldered onto the end so he can't get it off and take off the nuts completely. He twists the nuts down and I turn them all back up and then he turns them down and around we go.   ETA: The chickens don't seem to be interested in toys. Though I have heard that you can hang up a head of cabbage like a pinata and it'll entertain them for hours in the winter when there's less foraging to do and when it's too cold to really be out and wandering around.   Glove/hand size: *holds a hand up* This big. I tend to end up mediums in women's gloves. If you want more specific, I can do some measuring. Wanna see the mittens I'm lusting at? They are so amazing.   What was your father's name? I'd like to do something in honor of him... Stephen Allen. He was a huge fan of trees and a supporter of the Arbor Day Foundation. The family joke was that he was trying to plant enough trees to solve global deforestation himself. He was endlessly designing and building and planning and creating. I came by it honest, if on a different scale. He was -fascinated- with my knitting and would sit and watch me knit.   I like to babble, sneaky GnomeWitch!

i stumbled on BPAL about a month ago while looking for something else. i have mainly been buying imps so i get an idea of what scents i would like. there are so many scents and many i like wish i had more money i'd probably buy them all. i bought my first bottle the scent i bought was AEAEA. i can't wait to get more . i have received over 20 imps so far and am expecting at least 30 more plus about 4 more bottles. i am so glad i found bpal. looking forward to being a long time pursuer of BPAL products.

New SW round

Okay as in previous entries my BPAL wish list is lost. If found someone please mail me the links so i can update it correctly.   So here is my current Want list of BPAL related things-   Vampire tears - bottle Snow glass Apple- ANY amount i can get of this one the Buggre Alle this bible- bottle HellHound on my Trail - ANY amount I thought it was a halloweenie went to order a bottle and found out it was a lunacy!!! THEN my hubby washed My IMP - it no longer is a happy thing. SO I WANTS MORE! queen mab -Imp White light- imp brass balls- imp STFU- imp GOP-imp Independent-imp Libertarian-imp   I was lucky enough to get green party and democrat with my election order. Now i want to stiff the others. I really wish the lab was doing bottles of Green party that Imp smells Soooo good.   As i put in my SW questions, I will try to keep a better wish list this time so that they have some idea what i am looking for as apparently that was one fo the problems my last witch had with me.

waiting for you witchy

As i wait for a witch of my own, I am trying to correct my last witches problem of not enough info. I may be over compensating but Hey this is getting fun in its own way. Today at work i saw something and though of something i have always wanted but never been able to find at a price i could afford. Ever seen the candles that when lit the wax doesn't get to hot so you can Play in he bed room with them. That may be TMi but really its something i have always wondered about so i thought i would throw it out there.   In the I am COLD vein of the last week. High today was freakin 28. I went to sockdreams again. Such a dangerous store (its all ursula's fault her and fabulous glove fetish work) I would KILL for some Large thigh high socks to prowl around my house in. As for color choices you can never go wrong with black and anything bright, if a bird of paradise might put it in his nest then in all likely hood i will love it.   really witch i am just trying to put out ideas, be aware that if you just think of me and talk to me you are in all likely hood going to have a very happy witch on your hands.

What kind of candy/sweet treat would you like to receive? I like sour gummies, reese cups and cherry stuff Would you personally rather get handmade jewelry or the beads to make something yourself? Made but please no sharp or pointy edges. I once had a small cross get impaled on my collar bone and it HURT 12/4 It seems like there are quite a few knitting witches, so I assume they are on the Ravelry forum as well. If so, what are your names on there so I can stalk you? Sorry not crafty Speaking of which, how many Browncoat witches do we have?? And if you are, would you be interested in getting a Kaylee parasol? If not, would you be interested in getting a paper parasol hand painted with your favorite colors? Is there any time during the holidays (or the rest of the round) when you'll be away from home for a significant period and it'd be best not to send anything by mail? Not that I am aware To make up for the fact that I probably won't be able to send my witchee homebaked goodies, will Tim Tams in any number of varieties be an acceptable replacement? Sure Hand beaded jewellery, yay or nay? YAY Which witches would like hair accessories: clips, scrunchies, hairsticks, headscarves, etc? I love scarfs and Long hair sticks. SW help

I just got my SW! I'm so excited. She's going to be easy to witch for, I think.   For my witch! I don't have any wishlists, but I'll work on putting one (or a couple) together. I'm in desperate need of an imp box, and someone to handcuff me away from the BPAL website and the sales section of the forum. I mighta gone a little crazy.   I'm also in need of earplugs. Seriously. Anything to drown out the whining/crying/screaming of my children. U CAN HAZ UPDAYT FOR TEH HALLOWEEN TIEMS.   How do you like your chocolate? White, milk, bittersweet, as dark as possible? Plain, with flavoring, with chunks of stuff in? Fairly traditional, or weird and experimental? While chocolate is tasty, it's not my first choice since I prefer a sweeter treat. This is why I am one of the few people who likes white "chocolate!" () I also eat milk chocolate and some semisweet -- generally nothing darker than 62% cacao. I am also pretty adventurous when it comes to my additions in chocolate. Last round (I'm pretty sure!), I received the most heavenly bar of white chocolate flavored with rose water... I cannot tell you how long I made that bar last, but it was divine and I savored every bit of it.   Favorite animals? Least favorite?I love cats (big and small), rabbits, horses, hawks, and snakes. My least favorite "animal" would be spiders.   So for all witches of the shimmying types- would you like tassel belts/jingle belts/ ect and if so, how big are your hips? Once I recover from my surgery, I am going to be seriously hitting the bellydance classes! So any hip-shakers are awesome.   What are 3 places that you'd like to visit, or re-visit? I would love to visit Savannah, GA on the domestic-travel side; and one day I hope to travel to Scotland (there are many countries in Europe I'd love to see someday) and maybe Japan.   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round? Oh wow, my wishlist needs updating! I'm still waiting on my Halloweenie decants (maybe today!), and so I don't know if anything there will strike my fancy. I grew up watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, My Little Pony (!!!), The Gummi Bears, Care Bears (!!!), Captain N: The Game Master (OMG I loved that show), Super Mario Brothers, and Ren & Stimpy (another OMG love show). I sometimes still pull out my season 1 & 2 R&S DVDs, and I currently watch Family Guy, American Dad (sometimes), Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Robot Chicken.   Do you read graphic novels/comics? I used to, but not anymore. I was a HUGE X-Men fan back in the day, and I also read Batman.   Boxes, baskets, etc.? I can always use more pretty storage.   What jewelry are you wearing now? What jewelry do you wear everyday-or do you change jewelry all the time?I'm currently just wearing my diamond piercing studs, two silver bands on one ring finger and my engagement ring on the other. I tend to change my jewelry every day depending on my outfit, but Teh Rock always stays on.   Do you like honey? Will you like to try creamy honey with black sesame or with cinnamon powder?I love honey! My grandfather actually keeps bees, so I get big jars of it from him, but I'd love to try some exotic stuff (especially after hearing so many good things about Meadowfoam Honey).   Do you like baskets, jars and other interesting containers? Filled or Empty?As above, I love pretty storage solutions, and interesting goodies in pretty jars work for me too (empty or full, either works)   Houseplants and/or things to put them in? The idea of houseplants is great, but I have a black thumb! I would like to have some fresh herb plants to tend do, but I'm just not sure how successful I'd be at keeping the things alive.   Oh, um, favorite musical. On stage or on film? Comedy or drama? On stage? Cabaret!! Though Spamalot is a close second. On film: Sweeny Todd, but probably only because I haven't seen a live production (and Johnny Depp is amazing).   On the same note...do you like Shakespeare? Which plays?YES! I prefer stage productions, but there are a couple that I enjoy watching on film as well. My favorites are A Midsummer Night's Dream (in fact, I played Helena in a stage production once -- one of my favorite roles), Much Ado About Nothing (which is a great film adaptation as someone mentioned in the SW Thread), Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet.

Winter Switch Witch Questions #4

Are there any witchy type supplies you're in need of, or would like to try etc.? Herbs, smudge sticks, resins, tarot/oracle cards, incense burners, pretty tools, stuff like that?   No resins/incense, please. I have enough incense to last me four lifetimes. At least. I collect tarot decks (and should post a list of the decks that I'm currently lusting for) so those are always good. Mostly because I've found that decks tend to become topic-specific in my hands and get definite preferences one way or another.   On nut intolerance - does it include things like almond/coconut oil bases and essential oils in perfume oils, skincare products, scented candles and the like?   I can't eat most nuts anymore due to some fun with my digestive system as I've gotten older. Some are still okay and I adore pistachios (not the dyed kind since I don't want to turn my fingers red that way) and cashews. I can't eat sunflowers at all or use sunflower oil because of a fun allergy. I also ADORE roasted almonds and miss the organic place that I used to buy them from and eat them like candy. Nom.   If you are a fan, who were your favorite Buffy and Angel characters?   Tara. Willow before she went evil/ultrapowerful and even after she went evil, in a very warped way. Vampire Willow. Dru, in a demented kind of way. Faith. Kennedy. Giles.   Do you like Shakespeare? Which plays?   I used to and then teaching Shakespeare to high school students made me decide that I loathed it. Give me a few years to recover and this answer will almost certainly change back to love.   Question for the Class: Favorite Musical?   Um. I don't have one? Musicals really aren't my thing. I love sharks and have a probably unhealthy fascination with them.   I'm not especially fond of spiders. Or millipedes. Way too many legs.   How do you feel about Heifer International? Or do you have other favorite charities not mentioned in your application?   Any charity that doesn't just hand people money but actually encourages them to make a better life is okay in my book. I tend to gravitiate toward the reading oriented charities, which probably isn't a surprise to anyone.   So for all witches of the shimmying types- would you like tassel belts/jingle belts/ ect and if so, how big are your hips?   I bellydance, badly, but I'm quite happy without any belts of the jingling variety. I'd rather have bracelets and anklets that jingle.

One of the latest questions was "What's something practical you need?"   I said a calendar, but today as I was packing up packages to send out, writing my name and address 50 times (exaggeration ) was annoying! So if my crafty witch could make or find me some cute address labels with my name and address on it, that would be a neat pressie.

Winter round Q&A - told ya I'd do it!

I am a chocolate snob who will sneer at anything less than 85% dark, and I've eaten (and enjoyed) 100% chocolate. Mind you, I may sneer at the less dark stuff but I'm not above eating it if given the chance! Would quite like to try vegan white chocolate (it does exist) just out of curiosity really. As for flavouring/chunks/traditional/experimental, I will eat pretty much anything if it's vegan and chocolate-y. Chunks of stuff sounds good. I approve of weird flavours. Good flavours would be: szechuan pepper, earl grey, chilli, fennel, green tea, raspberry, blueberry, peanut butter, coffee, cinnamon, chai spices, neroli... okay, I'm going to stop now - I'm hungry!   Favorite animals? Least favorite? Favourites: Platypus , octopus, snake, dragon (okay, so it's a fantasy animal, but still), stegosaurus, cat, bat, owl, wolf, fox (fennec fox = cute), scarab beetle, crocodile, ibis. Least favourite: Biting insects; things with stings. Silverfish. Millipedes.   How do you feel about Heifer International? Or do you have other favorite charities not mentioned in your application? I'm actually really picky about the charities I would donate to, for philosophical/ethical reasons. I would definitely support animal charities that do not put animals to sleep unnecessarily.   So for all witches of the shimmying types- would you like tassel belts/jingle belts/ ect and if so, how big are your hips? I don't shimmy, but I do want to make myself a set of hip chains in the good ol' Byzantine weave. This will require approximately a shedload of jump rings, which are way, way cheaper on my witch's side of the pond, and can be found *here* (I'm looking at 20ga, 7/64"ID, non-tarnish silver/bronze/gunmetal/amethyst etc.) My hips are currently 42inches (hence 'shedload', y'know?) but I'm expecting to lose another 15-20 pounds by the end of March, so that measurement may change. Hopefully.   What are 3 places that you'd like to visit, or re-visit? I want to re-visit New Orleans! I was there a year or two before Katrina, and I loved the place so much. Actually I want to spend a year touring around all 50 states in the US. (Quit that laughing - I can dream!) I'd quite like to go to Japan (not Tokyo, for the sake of my sanity - I've seen pics of it, and whoa, crowded!) And Machu Picchu. And the Amazon rainforest. And Israel, because I'm curious. And Jamaica. And Greece again.   Literary erotica. Who doesn't love it? Frankly, I prefer homoerotica. Male version preferred, but femmeslash is okay too. I'm suspicious of hetero stuff, but could possibly be converted if it involves vampires or other supernaturals. (And I mean the actual blood drinking vampires btw, not some sissy whining emo bitches. You know that to which I refer...)   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round? Planning to buy: Yules - Midnight Mass, Jacob's Ladder, Butter Rum Cookie, and possibly Gelt. Might buy: CD scents - Mme Moriarty, Priala. Won't buy: any GC scents, or any of my wishlisted LEs (except as mentioned above). Can't promise not to buy: Lunacies, Forum-only. Can promise I won't purchase anything from other etailers during the round (not for myself, anyhow).   Do you read graphic novels/comics? Which ones? I've read the entire Sandman, and Lucifer. I'm currently trying to read Hellblazer but am too mean to buy the graphic novels, so what I do is I sit in the Starbucks cafe inside Borders and read whatever they've got, and then don't buy it. I've probably spent enough on coffee that I could've bought the entire series, but let's not kid ourselves, I was going to have those gingerbread soy lattes anyway. The problem with my technique is that Borders has a really crappy graphic novel section and I can never find what I want. I also want to read Preacher, but the bloody Borders doesn't stock it, dammit.   Which witches would want Bpal boxes? Or imp cases? ME! My Bpal storage is disgraceful. I have imps all over the place and my bottle collection outgrew the priority mail box that the lab shipped in. Anything to rectify this would be totally squee-worthy   How about a short - or longer - piece of fanfic? Yes! I won't squick my poor witch by posting my preferences in public, but feel free to ask for details if you dare   What is the weirdest and/or most practical thing you are not buying for yourself right now? The thing that you probably should be buying, but have been putting off in lieu of something else? Weirdest: A PMC kit and a blowtorch, putting that off because I'm afraid of doing myself a mischief with it. Most practical: a new pair of shoes. I'm procrastinating because it's hard to find vegan shoes that will fit and aren't ugly. Also I want some BPTP yoga pants to wear for the indoor climbing course that I'm planning on doing in the new year, but I'm putting off ordering until I can actually afford it.   Would you like handmade piece of calligraphy as a gift? Yay, please!   What jewelry are you wearing now? What jewelry do you wear everyday-or do you change jewelry all the time? Right ear: one 14mm ear tunnel, one flat-back jewelled bar in my tragus. Left ear: two 16ga seamless rings (either s/steel or titanium, I forget), and one 3mm plug that I just noticed I lost the O-ring for. Again. Bugger. And I was wearing a 20ga drop earring, but I took it out for the night. That list is pretty much unchanging, but only because I don't own any other ear jewellery except a 14mm turquoise plug that sometimes switches places with the tunnel. As for pendants/necklaces, I've got rid of the cheap trashy ones I bought from Claire's Accessories as a teenager and am left with only 3 sterling silver ones, which get a lot of rotation. I've recently started beading, but haven't yet made any jewellery for myself, only to give as gifts!   Boxes, baskets, etc.? Maybe. If it can be used for Bpal storage. I might would break a basket, I'm afraid. I break most things that are breakable   Chia Pet, do you need one? Do not want! They give me the squicks! Creepy little freaks, go and live with the Hello Kitty on the island of deranged not-cute psycho freak things!   Houseplants and/or things to put them in: thoughts? Have mercy on the plants - don't let them in sight of me.   Do you like baskets, jars and other interesting containers? Filled or Empty? Questions Part 2

Who are your forum friends, person or people your witch can contact for ideas?   That would be bryghtrose, one of my very good IRL friends in Boston who was so nice as to get me into BPAL. Also HennaFairy, who I met online and IRL a few years back, she knows me pretty well too.   What cartoons did you grow up watching? Any animated shows you still watch?   I wasn't allowed to watch cartoons as a kid, so none. And I don't watch TV really, although I did like Fairly Odd Parents the few times I saw it.   Do you like honey? Will you like to try creamy honey with black sesame or with cinnamon powder?   I like honey pretty well. Cinnamon sounds yummy.   What is the biggest problem or sad thing in your life? Of course, I mean the saddest or worst thing you can confess here.   At the moment my life is sort of in limbo. I just left Boston and moved cross-country back "home" and I'm currently looking for a job. Once I find one I'll have to find an apartment in Seattle and then move my stuff, which is currently residing in my mom's garage in Oregon. So it's been pretty stressful and then there are the money issues that come with not having a job. But hopefully it will be resolved in the near future. And I need to find new friends since only a few of my friends are left in Seattle, and there's always the boy-drama...   What fashion item or style do you like, but never wear?   I'm very attracted to goth fashion (corsets, frilly lacy black things, the whole look in general) but I'm a very low-maintenance jeans and a T-shirt type of girl. Also jewelry - I adore jewelry but I rarely remember to put it on (the earrings stay on) - so once in a while I'll put on a ring or necklace and then wear it pretty much forever until I have to take it off for some reason and then I just go without.   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round?   Because of the current state of financial limbo, probably not. Once I get a job I'll be dealing with moving costs and all those little home things that didn't make the trek across the country.   Do you read graphic novels/comics? Which ones?   Nope.   Which witches would want Bpal boxes? Or imp cases?   *raises hand* I currently have one box that a lovely forumite sent me when I bought some BPAL from her that holds 4 bottles. I have more than 4. And my imps are currently residing in ziploc bags or scattered in a ceramic bowl on the dresser.   How about a short - or longer - piece of fanfic?   I'm not really into fanfic, I never saw any until recently when I attempted to read some Twilight stuff and it just didn't interest me.   What is the weirdest and/or most practical thing you are not buying for yourself right now? The thing that you probably should be buying, but have been putting off in lieu of something else?   Everything. Aside from falling down and buying some yarn and a new coat this week I haven't been buying anything!   Would you like handmade piece of calligraphy as a gift?   Sure! I'm a huge fan of wall-hangable art of any kind. I have a small collection from friends who paint, and a lovely one from GirlInDenial from the Pay It Forward thread! What jewelry are you wearing now? What jewelry do you wear everyday-or do you change jewelry all the time?   At the moment I'm wearing a little silver star on a chain, it has a little blue stone and my name on the back and was a birthday gift from a good friend. I'm wearing 4 pairs of earrings - from bottom to top: long spiraly metal ones (14g), light blue star studs, dark blue star studs, and fixed ball rings in the cartilage. I'm wearing a ring on my right hand - silver with stars on it and an inscription about stars inside, it was a graduation gift from my then-boyfriend. (You may have noticed a star theme...)   I don't change jewelry often, but when I get the desire to change I'll put something different on, and then it stays until I take it off for some reason.   Boxes, baskets, etc.?   I'm not really into containers for no reason, but I like boxes with stars on them (of course) and things for BPAL storage would always be appreciated.   Chia Pet, do you need one?   As tempting as that is, the cats would probably destroy it. So no, I don't think a Chia Pet will be necessary.   Houseplants and/or things to put them in: thoughts?   I used to have TONS of houseplants in college, and a few in Boston but of course none of them made the move... 6 days in the back of a hot UHaul in the summer? I just gave them to friends before I left. But the cats tend to uproot them so I don't think I'll bother getting any more.   Do you like baskets, jars and other interesting containers? Filled or Empty?   I suppose I do like interesting containers, especially if they're filled with something awesome!   How do you like your chocolate? White, milk, bittersweet, as dark as possible? Plain, with flavoring, with chunks of stuff in? Fairly traditional, or weird and experimental?   I like most chocolate - white isn't my fave but it's still ok. I'd rather have chocolate with fruit or nuts or caramel than plain, but I'll eat plain stuff too. I don't know what exactly "weird and experimental" chocolate would be, but I suppose I could find out...   Favorite animals? Least favorite?   I like the vast majority of animals. My favorite would have to be fish (colorful tropical and saltwater primarily), cats, and horses... I guess. Least favorite: mosquitoes - for obvious reasons, and monkeys. Monkeys just creep me out, I think it's because they look almost-but-not-quite human.   How do you feel about Heifer International? Or do you have other favorite charities not mentioned in your application?   I don't really know much about Heifer International. As far as charities go I usually go with local ones or Doctors without Borders.   So for all witches of the shimmying types- would you like tassel belts/jingle belts/ ect and if so, how big are your hips?   Not a shimmying type.   What are 3 places that you'd like to visit, or re-visit?   Norway - I was there in 2002 for a study abroad and I'd love to go back both to see more of the country - probably more of Scandinavia in general too - and to visit friends that I haven't seen since 2002!   London - I don't know why, but I really want to go to London. Maybe it's Dr. Who.   Australia - I want to see the Great Barrier Reef before it's gone.   Literary erotica. Who doesn't love it?   I don't love it. I'm kind of a prude.

All Things Switch Witch

When I completed my Switch Witch Questionnaire, it was like I had a brain freeze. (Or a brian fart!) After it was done I started thinking about things that I really do like, and then I found the Extra Questions, so I'm going to put them here, and link them in my sig. So dear Witch, this might make things easier all around.   (I also plan on posting my entire Questionnaire here, but I'm at work, and it's at home, so.... )   THE EXTRA QUESTIONS, now thru 12/25:   On the Keychain Issue: I already have a KeyRing Of Awesome Jingle.   Languages: I have never truly tried to learn a second one, so no, just English. *sighs* Shame on me, I know.   12/18 Question to all the knitters out there, what size knitting needles do you use the most? I... don't know yet! But I'll certainly need some!   12/17 Do you have a personal 'Good Luck' charm? Maybe you have a goddess figure to remind you of your Inner Goddess, or maybe you have a beautiful Cross to represent your faith...Or maybe you wear a Hand of Fatimah for protection....That kind of thing. I actually don't have one, but I would like to. I used to have this really amazing natural amethyst crystal that had been pierced on the end for a chain. I kept it in my car, but it's been gone for ages. So yeah, it would be nice.   If you were to attend Hogwarts, into which House would you be sorted? Odd as it might sound, I would WANT to be in Slythern. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm devious enough. And I'm certainly not gung-ho enough for Gryff. *lol* Therefore, probably Ravenclaw. I always did have a pretty high GPA.   Would you be interested in some knitted wire jewelry, like this? Oh hella yes! My wire skils absoluely suck for anything more than simple connector loops.   This is kind of a getting-to-know-you-type-thingie, but I always find it illuminating--what's on your computer desktop? Images? Color scheme? Well, I change it about every other day. Just checked and, and here at work I have 131 wallpapers that I did myself. *grins* The one presently is something I saw on Icanhazcheezburger.com and modified with my own typeface and colors. It's a black bg, with a huge, gorgeous leopard. He has snow on his face and a very serious gaze straight into the camera. The caption is: Snowball Fight Rule #1: Never hit anything that can run faster than you!"   12/15 What do you collect...besides BPAL? Um, unfinished boxes to decorate, specialty papers, especially Japanese ones, and handmade with bits 'o' stuff in them, and I have more beads than I can possibly ever use in one lifetime. Aaaaand, I think that's about it.   Do you want to try the Will Call only Champagne scents? Champagne and Roses, maybe. If they'd had a Champagine base and an offer to pick your own flavoring, Champagine and Apple, Pears or Peaches, ofr the win. *dies* Ayway, Rose Absolute goes totally insane on me, but I love florals. Not sure about the others, though maybe Champagne and Chocolate...   Do you play on-line games? I play time-waster online games at yahoo.com (Like Bejeweled. Silly) when I'm stuck on hold on the phone. (Which seems to be half my day.) But it's the no-download, easy to play, easy to hide, sinmle kind. I kinda suck at games.   Do you have traditional holiday movies you like to watch? I love ever single classic except "It's a Wonderful LIfe." and most of the new ones. Tim Allen is a hoot.   What are your "guilty pleasures" type movies? That you really secretly like but don't like to admit to it? OMG, dare I admit this? I"ll lose any hint of credibility I might ever have obtained here. I love cheesy sci-fi, whic isn't really the secret. The truth is that I will watch any movie with Vin Diesel in it, no matter how bad the writing, the acting, the direction, the whoe story line with plot holes you could drive a mack truck through..... you get the ida. In fact, I want Riccick/Jack Harkness fanfic. Yeah baby. *Lol* Who got carried awy? Not me!   12/14 Anyone a fan of Goddess art? I do like it, but I really don't think I'll be decorating with it. I absolutely want a white stone or plaster Buddah head though, for a tablescape I want to copy. I'll post a picutre of it somewhere... eventually.   Anyone else a Luis Royo fan? Yes, for years and years. But again, not in the home I'm trying to create now.   What are your favorite websites (i.e., the ones you visit every day, or almost every day)? I'm a little website dry these days. I come here, to the forum, check my LJ, order beads if I need to and then get back to work. My computer at home kinda sucks, and my log-on time at work is limited.   How do you feel about Lush? Anything you want to try? I was completely underwhelmed by Lush. In fact, Lush is the reason it took me nearly two years of hearing about how wonderful BPAL was from an LJ friend before I finally gave in and tried it. Should have tried BPAL first.   How do you feel about home made lip balm, salt or sugar scrubs, soap, bath salts, etc? That would actually ROCK. I so want to try salt or sugar scrubs, because I haven't used them. Anything for the shower would be good.   if you were to receive a hand-knitted item, what color(s) would you prefer AND are there any types of yarn that you just cannot handle (e.g. wool, llama, etc.) I'm good on pretty much all yarns, unless it's really OBVIOUSLY scratchy. Even then, if it's a hat, that's cool. I have some homespun yarn favorite colors on my Etsy favorites. To wear I usually like cool colors, blues, greens, purples, etc.   What is one REALLY expensive, completely outrageous thing you would LOVE to get but totally don't expect to ever get from anyone? I still haven't replaced my lost earrings, and need a new pair of diamond studs. I think I've picked out some on Overstock for about $275, but haven't bought them yet. They're just 1/2 kt total weight, which is all I need. The old ones were 1/4 kt tw, (tiny) and if I have to, I think I saw one of the big box retailers advertising that size really cheap. Like, under $100. I wanted to stop up, but we'll see.   Do you like coffee mugs? Travel or stay at home? How big? Do you like ones from Starbucks? I like mugs but I eat ice cream and soup out of them. So yeah, big enough for eating. I love those big fat mugs for soup and the tall ones they use for iced coffee for ice cream. Yum. Hungry now.   If you drink coffee, do you like whole bean coffee or prefer ground? What grind? What roast (mild, medium, bold, extra bold)? Do you like flavored coffee? No coffee for me. The closest thing I get to coffee is Baskin Robbins Jamoca Almond Fudge. (Yet another reason my mother wondered if I was adopted, even though she pushed me out. )   Do you like tea? What kinds of tea (green, red, white, black, decaf, herbal infusions)? Feel free to get specific on brands and tea types. Loose or bagged? Do you need any kind of tea accessories? Pots/cozys/presses/strainers? Honey, I'm from the south. I drink my tea on ice, with a ton of sugar and lemon. In fact, I like a little tea with my lemonade.   What is your favorite hot chocolate or drinking chocolate? Do you need Vegan or no? *gasp* Blasphemy! Choclate is for chewing, not for drinking!   Do you need any decanting supplies? Pipettes? Vials? How about any wand caps? Roller bottles? Some spray bottles (for oils mixed with alcohol?) No, I don't decant. Although I'm considering asking the mods if I can do bath oils since I ordered a couple. But I have access to stuff from our compounding pharmacy. I wonder what size I'd need, and if it should be pour or squeeze?   I wanted to ask a question: are there any rare (or even uber-rare) scents that you'd really like to try? You know, I've been so into checking out the BPALthat's available, I've not even had time to look at what's not. I can tell you that I love apples and pears, soft florals, golden musk and amber. If I've missed something with some of those notes, I'd love to give it a shot. I'd also kinda like to have some Sagittarius, since I am one. Also, since I got swap-lifted for my Willows, I really want "Nowhere in Particular, All That They Had Seem and All That They Had Lost, The Goaler's Daughter and Mole. I want bottles, but want to smell before the deadline. *sighs*   Does your forum name have a special significance? Refer to something or someone you admire? Reflect your interests? Come on, spill! Well.. it's a combo of things, really. There's a character in Stephen R. Donaldson's "Thomas Covenant" series called Cable Seadreamer, and I originally chose it as an online name because one of my best friends was another character from the same series, Pitchwife. But it's come to mean more of what it says, because I do absolutely adore the sea and everything about it. My dream life would be in a very simple sea-side cabana. I also named by jewelry biz that, and hope to eventually register the name Seadreamer Galleries. We'll see.   What's your favorite texture? That's actually really hard. But I have an answer! *lol* Heavy sueaded silk. YUM. I love to just run it thorugh my hands.   What's one luxury item you want to pamper yourself with but haven't yet? I want to go and have a facial, but I've never done it. I just need to pick a spa in the area and get it over with. Oh, and those damned earrings I keep yapping about. Do you prefer arm warmers to the wrist, to the base of the fingers, or half fingered? Herbs, smudge sticks, resins, tarot/oracle cards, incense burners, pretty tools, stuff like that? I'm not actually Pagan, but I actually love natural crystals, especially big chunks of crystaline structure in any natural stone.   On nut intolerance - does it include things like almond/coconut oil bases and essential oils in perfume oils, skincare products, scented candles and the like? Any animated shows you still watch? I was a huge anime fan for a long time. Last thing I watched was Full Metal Alchemist. Favorite anime of all time was the Tokyo Babylon / X1999 combo. That I SERIOUSLY need to move, and should be saving every penny for it, but since rent has gotten SO incredibly ridiculous here I can’t afford it. I mean, I wear what my body will take. It needs to be covered up unless I'm in the privacy of home. *nods firmly*   Do you like to cook? if so, what? Would you like things like spices, cookbooks, recipes, tips? I don’t really cook now, because my kitchen sucks, and kind of works, sometimes. (Told you I need to move) When I have a great kitchen, I love to cook. I just don’t know when that will be again.   Do any of you like puzzle books? I like COLORING books!!! And crayons!   I love Christmas music even though I'm pagany -- how about you? I like it the first 10 times I hear each song, then I get sick of it. Guess what? Oh yeah. Sick of it already.   Anyone else have a sudden and unexpected favorite BPAL lately? Yes, actually. La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente and OMG, The Mouse's Long and Sad Tale.   It's cold outside - what are your favorite drinks to keep yourself warm and cozy? My mother always said her children were crazy. None of the 4 of us drink ANYTHING hot.   Would my potential Witchee be up for some music stuff they'd never heard before if they couldn't understand the words? I quite like J-rock, like Gackt. Also Onitsuka Chihiro really rocks. And L’Arc n Ceil.. . so sure. Why not? You know what I really love? Acoustic guitar. No word issues there.   What kind of candy/sweet treat would you like to receive? I love cookies and chocolate covered nuts. Oh, and pralines. Yum.   Would you personally rather get handmade jewelry or the beads to make something yourself? You know, I’m just so damned picky when it comes to beads. But I do have a few glass artists on my Etsy lists that really rock.   Speaking of which, how many Browncoat witches do we have?? YAY, Serenity!!   And if you are, would you be interested in getting a Kaylee parasol? Ah, not for me, thanks.   If not, would you be interested in getting a paper parasol hand painted with your favorite colors? Now that would be AWESOME. Ocean colors FTW, Babeee!   Is there any time during the holidays (or the rest of the round) when you'll be away from home for a significant period and it'd be best not to send anything by mail? Nope. All home, all the time.   To make up for the fact that I probably won't be able to send my witchee homebaked goodies, will Tim Tams in any number of varieties be an acceptable replacement? After Googling and Wikipedia, Tim Tams would rock!   Hand beaded jewellery, yay or nay? Well, I make it so I have a bunch…   Which witches would like hair accessories: clips, scrunchies, hairsticks, headscarves, etc? I don’t have enough hair for that yet… *sighs* OK, strke that! I managed a pony tail today!! WHOOT! I'm up for hair goodies now. They just have to be able to grip really fine-textured hair. Like... baby-fine.   On a similar note, who likes yarn? *Lusts for yarn*   What kinds/colors/weights/fibers? All of the above!!   Handspun? YESYESYESYES!!!!!!   Glitter? Well… except glitter. Oooooooh!! Handknit socks FTW!! I wear a size 8 Reebok and love socks of every possible description. Or if not handmade, then Tabi socks really rock. Like HERE.   How does everyone feel about steampunk? Steampumk is tres cool! I’d love to have a Steampunk imp case. *yearns*   Since we're talking about warm winter wearables, who likes hats? Mittens? Arm warmers? Hats and mittens yay! (In fact, hats and/or mittens, PLEASE!) Not so much arm warmers.   If your witch were to send you cookies, what kind of cookies would you like? What are 3 places that you'd like to visit, or re-visit?   Excellent question. I adore Chincoteague, Virginia. I used to say that I wanted to visit the Pacific Northwest, but that was before I inherited this house, which I have no intention of giving up ever, so since the desire to visit was a precursor to thinking of moving there, not so much relevant now. I'd like to take the trip to Egypt that my mother never got to take. And I'd love to go back to Ireland without the psycho ex-husband along.   Literary erotica. Who doesn't love it?   *raises a hand* Me. I'm picky. There is some that I enjoy but most of it makes me roll my eyes a little bit.   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round?   Since my witchlist is woefully out of date (sorry, Witch!), I don't know. There are a couple Yules that I want to acquire, but I'll probably hold on them until the deadline is closer. There are also a couple CDs that I kinda want to hoard more of, but I'm not too worried about that since we still have a couple acts to go, so hopefully, they'll be around longer.     Do you read graphic novels/comics? What jewelry do you wear everyday-or do you change jewelry all the time?   Nothing, because I'm not really awake today. Normally, I wear a pendant, earrings, and at least one bracelet. When I wear skirts/dresses, I also tend to add an anklet. Often one of my belled anklets to annoy everyone as much as possible. The actual choices vary from day-to-day based on outfit and mood. I don't wear rings at all. Though if the boy ever gave me a ring, that might change.   Boxes, baskets, etc.?   Baskets are awesome. My mother's basket collection is largely hanging from the ceiling, though I keep pulling them down to use them for other things. Boxes are pretty but not always terribly useful -- Flat surfaces that aren't easily accessed by the critters are rare around here, so decorative boxes might be pretty but odds are good they'll end up put safely away because of the zoo.   Chia Pet, do you need one?   Probably not, though a catgrass/catnip garden or three might not be a bad idea.   Houseplants and/or things to put them in: thoughts?   I LOVE houseplants. I can't even guess how many I have but it's definitely a lot. I dream of acquiring those glass globes that you fill with water and put into the plant to water it automatically for awhile. Watering the plants is quite the production around here. Literally gallons of water a week! (Two large peace lilies, a large ficus tree, and a huge number of other smaller plants.)   Do you like baskets, jars and other interesting containers? Filled or Empty?   See above for baskets. Jars can also be a challenge. What I'm hunting for now is a nice set of plastic containers to store seeds for sprouting that are air-tight and pretty. Probably others who have joined my decant circles repeatedly or swapped with me, since I tend to be chatty.   What cartoons did you grow up watching? Any animated shows you still watch?   Looney Toons, Bugs Bunny, Johnny Quest, Speed Racer. I've dated myself, haven't I? Smurfs. Simpsons, of course. Animaniacs.   I still watch Simpsons. Also Fairly Oddparents. I loved Kim Possible.   Do you like honey? Will you like to try creamy honey with black sesame or with cinnamon powder?   I love honey. Though I tend to prefer the natural stuff, I'll try just about anything. Switch Witch wish list

Dear Witch, I would just like to let you know that I am happy with whatever you get me, but here are some suggestions of things I would like just in case: Non BPAL: I would like zipper pulls for my purse- it is a red leather-ish purse with three zippers, and two of the zipper tags (for pulling the zipper open) have fallen off. If you would like to get me something I could put on, I would love it. Maybe something like charms, beads, etc. Just an idea.   I like to receive postcards for my collection.   BPAL: Would like bottles of Cottonmouth and Coral Snake. Random Things I Probably Should Have Mentioned in My SW Application

I used to be an earth scientist -- mostly geophysics (my undergrad thesis was on mantle convection), but also some geochem and general geology and environmental science. I love cool rocks and geological features (glaciers, volcanos, chasms, deep sea trenchs, mountains, fjords, rivers and lakes, etc), and anything about geological processes and planetary geology. I also really like hydrology and fluid dynamics.   Random academic things I'm interested in (besides history and earth science, the obvious): linguistics (especially language change and etymology), archaeology, technology transfer and development, gender as a conceptual category, women's history, philosophy, mythology, social dynamics, psychology, sociology, political science, foreign policy, ideas of space and body, culture, identity, economics, temporality, contingency, war peace, survival strategies, marginality and those at the margins and borderlands, interstices, problems of categorization, problems with liberalism, ideology, emotions, intuition, context, multiplicity, complexity, paradox, subjectivity, polymers and material science, higher mathematics, systems, patterns, cycles... Oh so many things.   But please, please feel free to ignore all this academic stuff! It's just here in case you want it.

What are 3 places that you'd like to visit, or re-visit? I want to go back to DC and spends some time at the Smithsonian. I want to redo my previous beach vaction, doesn't have to be Viriginia Beach but it does have to lack my siblings. I would like to visit the UK someday.   Literary erotica. Who doesn't love it? I have some, not a lot. I really have to be in the mood for it. I generally prefer lots of story with some sex to sex with some story.   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round? I'm not going to purchase anything, but I may still swap. I will let you know though.   Do you read graphic novels/comics? Which ones? I mentioned Batman in my questionnaire. Other comics I've been reading are the Buffy/Angel ones. I'm subscribed to both After the Fall and Season 8. I've read one of the Firefly ones. Those Left Behind I think it is. I've also read Watchmen.   Which witches would want Bpal boxes? Or imp cases? Hmm. Currently I keep my bpal in a three layer colored rubbermaid container and I like its portability. However, it is getting rather heavy. A small imp case for my purse would be awesome.   How about a short - or longer - piece of fanfic? Would be awesome. I read Phantom of the Opera fanfic (Erik/Christine) which reminds me, I need to catch up on those. I also read Labyrinth fanfic (Jareth/Sarah) and Buffy Fanfic. Not denying that I'm a nerd, but I don't think so   How does everyone feel about steampunk?   Since we're talking about warm winter wearables, who likes hats? Mittens? Arm warmers? Hat! Armwarmers!   If your witch were to send you cookies, what kind of cookies would you like? Chocolate-y ones. Ginger snaps, yum.   Would you like to receive ATCs (artist trading cards) or would you prefer something more usable, like bookmarks or something? Bookmarks are welcome!   What witch would like a cloak? If it's shorter than floor-length (like... knee-length or something)   Favorite animals? Least favorite? Kitties, most definitely like the kitties of all varieties. Also like ravens and, um, rabbits.   How do you like your chocolate? White, milk, bittersweet, as dark as possible? Plain, with flavoring, with chunks of stuff in? Fairly traditional, or weird and experimental? Bittersweet, usually, though milk chocolate is also love. Almaretto Lindt truffles were my favorite before they were discontinued. Chocolate with dried cherries mixed in is good...         And... think that's it for now.

More answers!   Do you like honey? Will you like to try creamy honey with black sesame or with cinnamon powder? Well i like honey so much i make mead. not prone to using infused or creamed honey though. i prefer the gloppy stuff.   What cartoons did you grow up watching? Any animated shows you still watch? I grew up watching animaniacs, freakazoid, Pinky and the Brain, Gargoyles, Ninja Turtles, school house rock, i vaguely remember voltron, speed racer, and i think mario brothers. I still watch freakazoid (itunes has it for download) animaniacs (my roomie has 4 of the 5 seasons on DVD) school-house rock (my sis owns the DVD) and occasionaly i'll spot one of the others being played at a friend's house.   Who are your forum friends, person or people your witch can contact for ideas? i think the only person on the forum who has met me RL is gwyd.   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round? heck no. i'm in negative cash flow for the month as is. Which witches would want Bpal boxes? Or imp cases? well an imp case would be nice so i dont consistantly annoy my husband by stashing them where he can get ill from them. (very sensitive nose)   Houseplants and/or things to put them in: thoughts? My cat would love you forever if you sent cat-grass. Do you read graphic novels/comics? Which ones? not as much as i used to. But the shelf has JtHM, the firefly comic, maison ikkoku, CCS, MKR, and Utena. I also have some of the excalibur comics from the 80's, almost forgot my warrior nun aurelia collection   how about everyone else-what jewelry do you wear everyday-or do you change jewelry all the time? I prefer to not change my jewelry at all. i wear my wedding ring, a set of stud earrings, and a set of small hoop earings.
