Even more SW questions!

***9/24*** What sort of colors do you currently wear? Do you want to branch outside that? What would you like to try? I wear all sorts of colors, really. I do wear a lot of richer colors, and I do a lot of neutral stuff with bright accents like a scarf or something. If I look at my closet, there's a lot of black, but also a lot of blue, green, orange, and red. ***9/22*** About incense: do you like sticks or lose incense? Have you got one of those devices to burn lose incense over a bit of charcoal? I do sticks and cones right now. I've never burned loose incense, but it sounds cool. What's everyone's favorite fairytale and what are your favorite versions of it? I like the one in which the girl comes out of her house to find a toad sitting outside. The toad goes into his little hole and brings out jewels. When he's back in his hole, the girl steals the jewels. The toad comes back outside, sees that his treasures are missing, and starts banging his head against the wall. He, of course, dies of blunt head trauma. The last line is something like "Who knows what treasures the toad would have shared." Something like that. As I'm sure you've guessed, my telling lacks the charm of the original. So how many imps/decants is officially 'you have gone overboard and your Witchee is going to expire from scent overload'? There is no such number, I'm sure. Who needs a recipe box? I have one - photo box + index cards = instant recipe box! ANYONE ELSE want a home-made cookbook? Sure!

Chaos Theory IV - 1147

MCXLVII - 1147   In the bottle: My nose is instantly hit with strong, "dirty-rooty" patchouli. Loitering around the edges is something bitter, something muddy green. This scent seems really dark at first sniff.   On wet: Menthol, like Vick's Vaporub. The fresh, almost sour twang of newly fallen leaves emerges seconds later.   Drydown: The patchouli is finally rising back up with a tiny lick of dirty smoke alongside it. There's a smidge of lingering menthol, too, but this is primarily all patch, all the time.   Overall: I typically like my patchouli spruced up with some fruit or tobacco or musky-musk, but this is quite nice, too. It's simple, uncomplicated, not overly sweet, not too dark. I haven't received a CT in this category yet (non-perfumey/foody/floral) so it was a nice surprise!

Chaos Theory IV - 1171

MCLXXI - 1171   In the bottle: Caramel or dark sugar, something fruity and fresh.   On wet: Almost instantly, that drizzle of sugary caramel gives way to...uh, herbal bubblegum?? I *think* that's what I'm smelling, but damn, is it ever sharp and weird. And now it's going kinda chemical, like...burning bleach.   Drydown: I still don't know what I'm smelling, but thankfully there's some light caramel-fruit sweetness returning to the forefront. I'm still picking up on what I can only describe as bubblebum, but it's now a supporting note in this strange blend, and no longer horribly offensive. The longer it dries, the more intense the sweet, candied fruit becomes - I'm thinking it might be red plum.   Overall: Out of the 8 CTs that've come my way (4 this round, 4 last), this is the first and only bottle that I really, *really* didn't like. I even had a no-swap policy in place specifically for any CT purchases 'cause they were all unique and made for me, right? But in this case, I think I'll have to bend the rules a bit. This odd duck (odd with my chemistry, at any rate) will almost certainly never see the light of day, and that's no life for *any* BPAL fragrance. I'll have to find it a new home.

SW makeup list!

I said earlier in the SW list that I'd make a list of the About Face eyeshadows I liked from the Shespace, so here it is.   Here they are, in order as you look down her complete list on the site:   - Killer Bees (i'm covered in bees!) - Bright Outlook - Aphrodite Screams - Fire and Brimstone - Looked and Leaped - Acid Reign - Far too fabulous - Euphoric Madness - Pinch of Magic - Twisted Psychic - Firecracker - Powder Burn - Kitty Cat - Root of Evil - Art of Noise - Mesh and Lace - Tear Jerk - Reap and Sew - Moral Enemy   so, yeah. There it is! Loads of fun colors.

The Nothing

I feel devoid of self. There is this crushing emptiness that clings to me. I tried tea. I tried cocoa. I pondered mixing the two together but decided against it. I have concluded that it must be "The Nothing," of Neverending Story fame. That's the only thing I can think of that tea AND cocoa cannot combat.   This day sucks. Can I have a new one tomorrow?

SW questions through 9/16

***9/16***   Your thoughts on the update? I think I answered this in the SW thread, but if not, feel free to poke me, weenie witch!   How do you decide what to put in which package for your Witchee or how many packages to send? Impulse? Instinct? My gut? It all tends to come together relatively organically for me – it depends on what my witch is interested in/looking for, the season and any holidays that fall within the round, etc.   If you were my witchee, would you be terribly offended if I sent you a box containing project "experiments" or random miscellaneous pretty bits of brainstorming that I thought you might like/wear? I wouldn’t be offended at all! That sounds fun.     ***9/14-9/16***   Do you often drink take away coffee in paper mugs? Not often, but every now and then.   What would a perfume based on you smell like? Based on me in the literal sense? Sun-warmed cotton, gentle skin musk, creamy coffee, smeared ink, and a whiff of tar (from my T-Gel shampoo). Based on my personality? A sweet base with notes of spice and strength that might strike some sniffers as unexpected or unusual: bourbon vanilla, clove, frankincense, myrrh, lily of the valley, cactus blossom, a pinch of sugar, a dash of cumin, and a whiff of smoke.   Who here likes Wizard of Oz things? I have an appreciation for the movie, but I wouldn’t really say I like Wizard of Oz things.     ***9/13***   Do you like Mystery Science Theater 3000? Have you tried out (and if not, would you be interested in doing so) its weird little brother, RiffTrax? I LOVE MST3K. RiffTrax looks like it could be entertaining, but part of what I love about MST3K is the classic B movies they often use, whereas RiffTrax uses mostly recent movies – movies I’ve seen, even – and while many of those movies are no doubt ripe for mockery, it seems like it just wouldn’t be the same.     ***9/12***   What will you like from Singapore? Candies? Food? Asian crafts/toys? I don’t feel like I know enough about Singapore to have any idea of how to answer this question, but if you think I’ll like it, I’m game!   What is everyone's "luck" item? I don’t have one.   Do you like art deco/nouveau - style prints? Yup! Between the two, I prefer art nouveau.   What is one thing that, if you received it in the middle of all the hubbub, would make you smile and take your mind off of all you have to do for a bit? Anything! The package my lovely witch already sent me worked quite nicely in that respect.   How do you feel about Hello Kitty? I prefer her Sanrio brethren, specifically Tuxedo Sam (does he even exist anymore?) and Badtz Maru (and even more so Batdz Maru’s sibling (?) Hana Maru – the seal).

Another set of SW questions!

Taking a break from worky stuff to catch up!   How does everyone feel about really green gifties? I was thinking of giving my witchee some of my handy-dandy "paper" towels (hand-sized, washable muslin squares--kinda like ultra-cheapo cloth napkins) in a kitchen-friendly decorative box, but I didn't want to seem preachy ("Stop using paper towels, you environment destroyer!"). Would y'all use something like that? I would not only use stuff like that, but I would love stuff like that!! I am pretty good on reusable shopping bags (now if only I could remember to put them back into the car after unloading groceries!!), just to let you know in case you're thinking of taking a green direction! What craft (or crafts) have you been wanting to try but have no idea where to start? I probably shouldn't be starting anything new considering how many unfinished projects I have piled up! Would you appreciate some tunes in future packages? And if so, do you care if you get any CDs or mp3s you might have all ready? Or would you be able to find a way to post a list of things you're (a) looking for, or ( all ready have? I love getting new music. No worries on duplicating things I have. I have a looooot of music so it would be hard to list all of it! Polish goodies! Who wants them? Baked goods, candies, kielbasa, pirogies, magazines, you name it? Mmmmmmmmm ***9/18*** How do you avoid popping an item for yourself into an order you're placing for your witchie? That's impossible! Underpants? Do you like them? What's your style? Size? I'm like a 6 I guess. I like boy-style ones (like the classic boy style, not the longer boyshorts, as I feel like they just cut unattractively into my thighs). Bikini style is good, too. I sometimes do thongs, but only when I'm avoiding panty lines. What tea would you love to try but haven't because of price or difficulty to get? Nothing off the top of my head, though I do love tea! BPTP Room Sprays...your thoughts? I have only tried L'Autunno but would love to try others! Would you like to receive baked goods from your Witch? And if so, are there things you WOULDN'T like? I'm easy to please. ***9/16*** If you were my witchee, would you be terribly offended if I sent you a box containing project "experiments" or random miscellaneous pretty bits of brainstorming that I thought you might like/wear? Of course not! Experiment away! ***9/14-9/16*** Do you often drink take away coffe in paper mugs? Sometimes. Mostly I make tea and coffee at work and use a mug I bring from home. What would a perfume based on you smell like? Sweet and foody with spiciness. Some honey in there. Who here likes Wizard of Oz things? Not particularly. I mean, I don't dislike WofO but I'm not like Wooooo! ***9/13*** Do you like Mystery Science Theater 3000? Have you tried out (and if not, would you be interested in doing so) its weird little brother, RiffTrax? I like MST3K but haven't watched any in ages. Never heard of RiffTrax, but I'd check it out! ***9/12*** What will you like from Singapore? Candies? Food? Asian crafts/toys? Anything! What is everyone's "luck" item? I don't have one. Do you like art deco/nouveau - style prints? Yes What is one thing that, if you received it in the middle of all the hubbub, would make you smile and take your mind off of all you have to do for a bit? Any kind of mail/SW package pretty much has this effect on me. Even just a postcard. How do you feel about Hello Kitty? It's okay. 9/11*** Legwarmers? Armwarmers? Dude. Yes. What is your favorite category of the GC? I have loved scents in all of the categories. Can't really pick just one! ***9/10*** Stance on Joss Whedon and his enterprises? Definitely a fan!

SW questions through 9/11

***9/11***   Legwarmers? Armwarmers? Oh yes, quite.   What makes everyone stand out from the Switch Witch herd? Baa! I don’t think I really stand out. There are even other tuba players! I’m okay with not standing out, though.   If you are into the original Nintendo system, what 3 games would you want that you don't have? I don’t have Tetris! I don’t know what else...   What is your favorite category of the GC? I don’t know if I have a favorite category for wearing. Conceptually, I think I like Wanderlust and Excolo best.     ***9/10***   Stance on Joss Whedon and his enterprises? Love Firefly and Serenity, like Buffy (currently four episodes into season 5), have no interest in Angel, enjoyed Dr. Horrible. He seems a little full of himself, but I appreciate his feminist leanings.   Has anyone tried ice wine before? Do/did they enjoy it? I haven’t tried it. I’d be interested in tasting it, though I’m not entirely sure it would be my thing, since all you hear about it is how sweet it is...   What other perfume companies (besides bpal) have you been curious about? Most of them! I would love a good clove cigarette scent, and I think there’s a company out there with just that, but I can’t remember who...   Does anyone here do anything with grave rubbings? Nope.   Would you enjoy art based on original Graveyard photography? That’d be cool!   What's in your Netflix or Blockbuster queue, do you want any new Netflix/Blockbuster friends, if so how do we find you on there? I’m happy to have new friends on Netflix, but I have no idea what my username is. I bet you could find me via my e-mail address, though.     ***9/9***   Do you play a musical instrument? Tuba is my primary. I’ve also played the flute for… shit, I think 18 years now. I’ve also played trumpet, trombone, and baritone, and I play the bass and guitar, though am still learning.   What do you think of Irrelevant Disturbing and Surreal Crawdad Dream? Love it? Hate it? Kicking yourself for not getting a bottle? I was curious, but not so much that I had to have it or that I’m kicking myself now for not buying it. I’m still curious – but if it really is mostly berry, I’m not so sure that would be my thing.   How do you feel about trinkets? You know - tiny toys or doodads that serve no purpose than to be cute, take up space and make us smile. Love them or waste of money? I would make room for the perfect trinket, but mostly I’m good on that point.   Can melty things be shipped to you, or will they be in puddles by the time you open the package? I suspect we’ll have a last gasp of summer weather here before too long, but overall I think it’s probably safe to send melty things to me by now.   Who likes pirates? Yarrr, matey.   What are your feelings about Dia De Los Muertos? It’s an intriguing celebration, and I love the aesthetics of it.   What do you think about the Nightmare Before Christmas? I’ve always liked it, and I have it on VHS around here somewhere…   If candy is sent, would you prefer small amounts to a Halloween sized bag? Quality over quantity would be preferable for me.   Do you like notes in your soaps or bath stuff that you don't like in your perfumes? If so which? I think it’s about the same, with the exception that I seek out more lavender bath products than perfumes because I often take baths before bed and for relaxation, and lavender is good for that.   Do you like floral soaps or bath stuff? If so, what florals work and what don't? I like gardenia and other tropical-type flowers. Beyond that, if it’s in the “warm” spectrum of scents and isn’t too cloying, I’m happy to try it!

...

That's a great idea! I'm very sad to say that we go through a lot of paper towels. I hope to have easier access to a washer and dryer the next place we live so something like that would be fabulous.   What craft (or crafts) have you been wanting to try but have no idea where to start? We I'm intending to start knitting, but haven't picked up the supplies yet. What I really want to try is weaving & spinning. I have absolutely no idea now to get started on that.   Would you appreciate some tunes in future packages? And if so, do you care if you get any CDs or mp3s you might have all ready? Or would you be able to find a way to post a list of things you're (a) looking for, or ( b ) all ready have? I'd be happy to post something. We have a lot of music. Any suggestions on how to post it would be most welcome.   Polish goodies! Who wants them? Baked goods, candies, kielbasa, pirogies, magazines, you name it? Foodstuffs? Yes!! My ancestory is part polish (on my dad's side) so that would be great. Magazines? Not unless they're in English or German. I speaks no Polish!   How do you avoid popping an item for yourself into an order you're placing for your witchie? Well so far I haven't   Underpants? Do you like them? What's your style? Size? I wear a variety. Most of what I have is Victoria's Secret (probably because I haven't been enabled to anything better). I wear low-cut styles (any) in small. I love bright colors and designs (gee, how did you know?). I admit to sometimes going without when I wear loosefitting clothes and it's hot.   What is your favorite? What tea would you love to try but haven't because of price or difficulty to get? I'd love to try fruity, flowery, or spicy teas. I don't really like straight black tea. I haven't tried a lot though I live in an area where I have much access to tea. Sometimes I need to myself.   BPTP Room Sprays...your thoughts? I have the autumn and winter inquisition sprays and sample sizes of Down the Rabbit Hole, Cathouse, and Dungeon (which doesn't have much of a scent. I don't know why). I'd love to try the halloween ones!!   Would you like to receive baked goods from your Witch? And if so, are there things you WOULDN'T like? I LOVE baked goodies. No raisins (unless in some sort of spice cake. I don't like 'em in cookies) or anise (*gag*) please. Everything else is great! Bakeries are a weakness of mine for sure. I'm much rather have a piece of pie or croissant than chocolate most of the time.   So I also updated my wishlist here. And yes, I did receive your email and plan on responding!! I have a bunch of email to get to today that I haven't had time for earlier this week. Thursday after work and friend and I went to Chinatown. I had intended to look for some tea for my witchee, but I was overwhelmed. There are a lot of tourists here right now!! We did have a nice dinner together at a Chinese restaurant there. Last night I went to Chevy's (my first time there, apparently that is a surprise to many people, but there aren't any in Nebraska) with a different friend for her birthday. I had this mango margarita which was the Yum. We also had tacos but they weren't that great; the chips however were! The salsa was meh. Anyway. I don't have all that planned for this week, so I shouldn't get behind. I really need to get a package out to my witchee!! She needs some stress relief.

Imps galore

The generous Medvssa sent me a couple of imps and they arrived today. I HAVE TO TRY THEM ALL.   I started with Brisingamen because this was the scent I looked forward to the most. In the bottle it smells beautifully golden sweet, just so great. On my skin, though, it morphs into a really dry, perfumey powderey scent, and after it has dried - it's GONE! I mean, GONE. No! I know that my skin is prone to eat scents but that's really extreme.   Samhain 07 - in the imp, it smells GREAT. My nose only tells me yay or nay, nothing more distinct, though. Wet on the skin it's sweet pine. Pine with apples. Very fresh and very green. More apples than pine. Oy I love the apples! Now as it is slowly drying, the apples fade and something biting, sharp, comes out. It's gone now again. Again, all I can smell is apples. Sweet apples. Oy. Yum!   Seance - ugh wow that smells really... dusty. Interesting, I didn't know that a perfume could do that. I really don't want to smell like that but that's really interesting.   Rose Red 07 - that smells EXACTLY like the smell you get when entering a florist. This greenish smell of cut flowers. Exactly like that. Now I understand what the people mean when they say Rose Red smells like a "freshly cut rose". Emphasizing "freshly cut" and not "rose" here - because I don't get much rose, just a very faint hint of it. It's almost too sharp. Good throw.   Two, Five, Seven That smells almost like The Unicorn to me. Very fresh and green. The rose comes out as soon as it starts to dry. The green freshness is still in the background. Has almost no throw though, and starts to fade now.   Parlement of Foules 08 - It IS Rose and soft resins.I can smell exactly that although if I wouldn't know that there is rose in it I couldn't tell. Smells nice and sweet. If that is what white rose smells like, then I'm in love! It also has enough throw that I don't have to sniff only my wrist.   Whip - whoa! That reminds me of... something. It smells... manly. Like some men's shower gel. I'm guessing this is the leather? It smells really nice - I don't get any roses. It's not me, though. I can see this working nicely on a handsome guy.   Western Diamondback - wow that is a thick oil! Sniffing the imp, I can immediately pick up the medicinal note Snake Oil had on me before it was aged. Dark, sweet, spicy vanilla, NO, Marzipan hits me after I apply it to the skin. MARZIPAN. Whoa! That smells nice. I can almost imagine someone confusing bottles and not filling Western Diamondback ("Snake Oil with leather, tonka bean, red sandalwood, and sage") in there because it doesn't smell like the description at all. I get sweet vanilla marzipan almonds. I guess it's the tonka? Oh if I could just compare to Dana O'Shee - because this smells like my memory of Dana O'Shee is. Ah now the medicinical note comes through. Sigh. Ah, and there is the leather.

My Super Duper Long Switch Witch Random Question List 'O Doom

Where does everyone like shop for witching goodness? Well, this is my first go at witching, but I’ve done so many other swaps. Etsy, craft stores, Magical Omaha, the Soap Box Co., and bookstores. What is your favorite pumpkin goodness? Pie, bread, muffins, ice cream, candies. Ok, everything except beer. What's your favorite part about Fall? Seriously, the fact that it will soon be Halloween. The end of heat waves and leaves changing color. And how can I forget about scarves, hats, and mittens!!! Do you like office/school supplies? If so, what is your favorites? Even though I’m in college now, I still freak out a little bit at the beginning of each semester. The thought of ’school’ supply shopping makes me so excited. I love little notebooks, gel pens, crayons, sharpies…oh my… What's your favorite Halloween candy? Candy corn and Mary Janes. Will you be participating NaNoWriMo? If so, is there anything you'd like to have for that? Someday I will, but not this year. Are you right or left-handed? Right Any period of time that you love? Victorian and the 40s. I’m in with steam punk, too, if it counts. What is your favorite crafting supply? I love making jewelry and chain mail, so chains of any size, jump rings (silver or colors), funky beads, vintage buttons, and charms. Silver, brass, and copper - all antiqued, resin, and plastic are my favorites. I also knit, crochet, and spin, so yarn or roving is always great. I go through black snap on safety eyes like crazy. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle? I’m all over that. Since all the good thrift stores near me have closed, I’m having some serious cravings. Tattoos! Do you have em? Do you want em? Whatcha got or getting? I would love to get some, but in the end I’d be completely covered seeing that my interests change all the time. I’m definitely set on some kind of Alice in Wonderland tat. Either the Cheshire cat, Tea Party scene, or White Rabbit. And Gir…there has to be an Invader Zim one somewhere. Halloween scents? what ones are people loving? craving? have tried, want to try? , etc... or any Halloween-ish or autumn scents from other sites your dying for?? I have decants of half of the Halloween/Sleepy Hollow scents, plus bottles of Graveyard Dirt and Sticky Pillowcase pending. Those two bottles were the only ones that really called to me. I’m all over the sweets and ’nature’ (dirt, moss, wood) scents of this season, but not so much the burning leaves or spiciness notes. What is one item that you've wanted forever, could have afforded, but have never gotten and why (haven't you gotten it!)? The Old Hare Clock from Victorian Trading Co. I totally have the money, but there’s always something more practical to use it on. Who here prefers stylus and ink to ballpoint? I‘ve never used a stylus/ink pot, but have thought about trying it. Then I think about how nosey my cats are and the huge mess I’d probably make. I love me some brightly colored gel pens with the ergonomic finger grip thingies, though. Anyone invested time and effort into calligraphy or proper Victorian writing? In high school my art teacher had us learn calligraphy, using a marker not a stylus. I got really good, but stopped when I finished the assignment. Sometimes I wish I kept it up. What about stationery? Need some? What styles do you like? I’m more into postcards/note cards. Funny, vintage, scenic, etc. Although cutsie Japanese character stationary is always fun! How do people feel about receiving baked goods/kits to make said goods? Or other cooking items? Would you enjoy oil or vinegar flavored with herbs grown at home? Strange and exotic spices with recipes to try? Cookies made with carnation petals? Baked goodies and recipes are welcome. I don’t do much cooking, so oil, vinegar, and spices wouldn’t make much sense. Cookies made with carnation petals?!! Wooooah. What are your pet's names, and what are they named for? Cali (Lali, Nugget) is my mom’s cat named that because she’s a calico. Rufus (The Boy) is a Russian Blue mix named that because I just liked the name. Gizmo (Gizzy) is a Shih Tzu/Maltese mix named that because her coloring resembles that of the character. Who here is a complete, over the top, Alice In Wonderland fanatic? Completely in love with it. The movie is ok, but I like the old illustrations better. White rabbit, Cheshire cat, and the whole tea party are my favorite characters. Are you a Trekkie? If so, which series do you prefer? Do you have a favorite character? Never watched it. Do you have phobias? Clowns give me the heebie-jeebies. And the sound of Styrofoam rubbing together makes me nauseous. Speaking in public, too. How do you like your mix CDs? Random? Stuff you know you'll like? Random. I love new music. Would you rather get food or jewellery? Jewelry Do you like children's toys, such as jacks, those little things you tilt around to get the ball in the right hold (wtf are those called?), the aforementioned caplet dinosaurs, cap guns, etc?: I luff stickers. And little plastic figures (dinosaurs!) or stuffed animals English candy/tea/marmite or other stuff that you love and can't easily get outside of England? Kinder Eggs. Didn’t they ban the ones with toys in them over here? Fanfic as a gift* - yay or nay? Your fandom? Slash preferences?*well, a virtual gift obviously. You know what I mean. My fandoms are Good Omens and a lot of musicians…it’s not my fault that most of the bands I listen to are easy to slash! >.< Any beaders here? Need beading supplies? Yes and I answered that in the craft supply question. Do you like making up your SW packages around a theme, or prefer to mix it all up? The only swaps I’ve ever done are based on themes, but this time it depends on their answers. If there’s enough to center around a theme, sure. Band-aids: do you like the fun and funky ones? I am constantly getting hurt and use all different types of funky band-aids. Right now I have a Dora the Explorer one on. What's the scariest thing that's ever happened to you? I had a panic attack when I was by myself at a store. What is everyone's favorite Halloween song?! Halloween by the Misfits (and the cover by AFI). Monster Mash is fun too. How many of mah fellow witchies play video games? Platform? Do you like used games? My favorite platform of all time was the original Nintendo. Duck Hunter and Dr. Mario are my favorites. But I do like computer games - Zuma, Collapse, The Sims. What kind of music (genres, please) do you like? Rock, classics, old country, alternative, indie-ish, electro, dance, punk, some hardcore. I really don’t know how to define a lot of what I listen to. Have any of you ever received a book from a Witchy and loved it so much you ended up buying a copy for a later Witchee? I don’t think I’ve even received a book in a swap, but I do like gifting my favorites. What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? Sparkley - not frosted or glitter chunks - bright colored/neutrals. Urban Decay or Archetype. (Unfortunately Archetype’s TAT and CS are both crappy) Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? Lip balm is an essential. Nude, berry, or sheer red tint, or just plain are both good. I don’t use major brands - Blistex, Chapstick, etc. because they either don’t work well enough or burn. I’m now addicted to mylipstuff.com thanks to the SW thread. Oh, and I only like it in tubes. What are some of the SW gifts/finds from past rounds (or you can just name a gift in general that you found for someone if this is your first round!) that you are the most proud of in terms of your sleuthing skills? A friend of mine likes stuff that ’really shouldn’t exist’, and I found her a clutch in the shape of a hot dog - with all the fixings (and sequins!). And, secondly, what is something you've been searching for but just can't find? I’ve been looking for a 'I <Godzilla> Tokyo' shirt. Do you knit/crochet? Do you need any supplies? I do both. Notions are always needed - stitch markers (split and regular), tape measures, bobbins, row counters, small scissors. I’ve just learned knitting socks on two circulars. Who here has an etsy shop? Not anymore. What are your two favorite etsy shops? Knit Front and Back, and Pinky Noodles Are you active on any other boards/forums? If so please specify where and your username there. What is one (only one) object that you collect, that totally goes against your personality or beliefs? Hmmm…it’s not really a collection, but I’m interested in taxidermy. I kind of want a jack-alope, but think it would freak me out. Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? I can’t use bar soaps or gels, but I am a body wash addict. How do you scent yourself? Do you layer soaps, moisturizers, etc. or do you go straight to slathering your bod with BPAL? I’m a slatherer, but love all things scented. Do you/how do you scent your world? Candles, incense, diffusers, potpourri? None of the above? Room sprays only BPAL is such a scent-ual experience. What are your other tactile, aural, or olefactory pleasures? Olfactory - going outdoors when it’s just about to/has rained, freshly mowed lawns, dryer sheets. Tactile - walking barefoot outside, clean sheets, animal fur. I’m a very tactile person. If you could bring back any TV show from cancellation what would it be? The Golden Girls, Animaniacs, X-Files, Stark Raving Mad, Buffy, Rugrats, Special Unit 2, Six Feet Under, and Invader Zim. I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? Yes. I live in an old house and it gets quite cold. What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. The one that mixes cookie dough and brownie chunks. Or Nutella. Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? Probably not. The only money I have is going towards my witchee. And school…I kinda need to pay for that. Although, if a good LE or Lunacy is released, I may join a circle. Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? No more wrist watches for me. I’m usually wrist deep in clay, so I use clip-ons now. Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? It gets downright cold here. Anything warm and cuddly (and even a bit strange) is very useable. I really get a lot of use out of fingerless gloves. One of my classes this semester is held in a room with never ending AC. Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? No one. I’ve been more of a lurker up until a few months ago. My questionnaire is chock-a-block with ideas for Witching me on the cheap, and without sending "stuff for stuff's sake". And I just came up with another one--make me a Pandora, Finetune, or Last.fm station you think I might like! What manner of affordable Witchery might you covet? I never really listen to music on my comp. Handmade stuff, mixed cds, thrift store/antique goodness, leftover balls of yarn, hair clips/no-pull rubber bands, fun little toys to put in my car, I love the dollar sections at Michaels. Does your cell phone have a place to attach charms? It does. If you drink coffee (and make it yourself) do you use a French Press, regular filter basket coffee maker, Espresso Machine, Percolator? No coffee for me either. What movie soundtracks (or scores) do you love? Rocky Horror Picture Show, Sweeney Todd, Nightmare Before Christmas. It's a bit strange, cause I'm really not a musical type of person. Earrings? I have weird metal allergies in my lobes, but I wear studs and small hoops in my two cartilage piercing. Song on repeat? Smashing Pumpkins - 33 Coffee/tea/drinks with 3 people: Hugh Laurie, Neil Gaiman, Eddie Izzard What are some perfume companies besides bpal that you are curious about? Which have you already tried and know that you dislike? Curious about: Droplettes, Conjure Oils, Woobie. Arcana scents tend to work on me very well. I have enough Possets to know to be very picky about what I try. I’ve tried and can’t really see myself buying more Nocturne Alchemy - they use a lot of bad notes.

More Switch Witch questions 'O randomness

For witches who love Halloween and decorate for it, when do you start and when do you take it down? (Because your Witchy will need to make timing decisions!) I usually start early and take it down late, so all of October is game. I still have bat clings in my car windows from years ago. So, now I've gotta ask -- Does anyone have an iguana? Would he or she wear a sweater? (or an itty bitty kilt?) No, but I’d love to see a picture of one! Vanilla Creme Kisses? Yum What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? Well, I’ve been collecting as much Black Lace as I can. I only have 1.5 imps so far. And Glowing Vulva. I’m kicking myself for not buying that when I could. What's your favorite animal? Cats and dogs of all sizes, alpacas, llamas, goats, owls, squid, and octopi. I also love the animals that don’t get much lovin’: sloths, giant-eyed nocturnal critters, praying mantises, platypuses, narwhals, and those deep sea fish that have the little 'light' dangling in front of their mouths. How do you feel about burned copies of cd's or dvd's that your witch might have that you might enjoy? Burn away! How many of ya'll have tried Alternative Breeding tarts? Do you like 'em? What is your favorite scent if you have? What ones mightyou want to try? What *are* your favorite tart scents (if you are a tart... uh... person... uhm)? If you don't do tarts (uhm...), would you be interested in becoming a tart person? Why are you guys such enablers?! I’m not generally a tart/oil/candle/anything that burns person, but some of those scents sound delish. I’ve started dabbing oils on my light bulbs. Not sure how safe it is, but it smells good… Question, question (if asked before, please disregard!) I have to say, i finally tried the vosages chocolate with bacon and it's less exciting than i thought it would be. However, the chocolate with the chilis is teh yum! I'm wondering if my witchee would like to try these types of things (like the caramel with sea salts or chocolates with chilis/bacon/salt etc.)? I’m always up to trying new things…even bacony chocolate. It’s intriguing. Say, witches, I have a question about birthdays. do you expect/rely on other people to plans birthday outings and activities? If I happen to do anything for my birthday it’s going to a friend’s house in Chicago to go bar hopping. But, really, I just like to be lazy. Dealing with treats? If there’s a bag of goodies (even if they’re cheap ones), I’ll most likely binge. I love it when I get just a few little candies with swaps or decant circles. That’s how I became addicted to Japanese sweets. Ringtone? I have the Super Mario Bros. Theme song, the Invader Zim theme song, and the ‘Kidnap the Sandy Claws’ song from Nightmare Before Christmas. I just bought ‘Shut Me Up’ by Mindless Self Indulgence. That’s the one I’m using now. What do you think about receiving tea accessories and/or miscellany (like mugs, cups, saucers, strainers/filters, honey, natural sweeteners [like stevia])? I realize that I keep saying I don’t drink tea, but I just remembered this amazing jasmine tea we had at a Chinese restaurant once. Of course I put enough sugar in it to put myself into a coma. I don't think that answered the question... Munsters or Addams Family? Addams Family. I was never able to get into the Munsters. If you have pets, is there a SPECIFIC toy they like to play with; brand and size? Is there a treat/cookie they eat? What brand and size? Our female cat loves anything on a stick that you wave around and she will eat just about anything you put in front of her. On the other hand, the boy is very picky about toys and treats. Sometimes he goes for the catnip bubbles and crinkle balls, but mostly his favorite toy is whatever I happen to be knitting at the moment. The only thing besides his food he likes is chicken lunch meat. Our puppy loves her red loofah dog and anything squeaky/crinkley. She loves Greenies in the Teenie size (teenie greenies haha) and Zuke’s Mini Naturals in peanut butter. I’ve been looking into making her some treats too. What makes you stand out from the rest of the switchwitch herd? I guess one of the very few here that have never tried anything LUSH. I'm also great at mimicry. Legwarmers? Armwarmers? Legwarmers - not so much. Arm warmers - yes, please! What is your favorite category of the GC? Mad Tea Party and I'm sure when I try them, Steamworks. If you are into the original Nintendo system, what 3 games would you want that you don't have? I’m not sure what I have, but my favorite games were always puzzle types (like Yoshi or Dr. Mario). Actually, I don’t think I have Super Mario Bros. 2, so that. Stance on Joss Whedon and his enterprises? I loved Buffy, was into Angel for a while, but have never watched Firefly. Has anyone tried ice wine before? Do/did they enjoy it? I’m not much of a wine drinker, but I had to Wiki it, and it does sound interesting. What other perfume companies (besides bpal) have you been curious about? Woobie (have I mentioned them enough yet?), Droplettes, MoonaLisa, Cobalt Blends, Conjure Oils, Sidhe Creations. Does anyone here do anything with grave rubbings? It’s on my list of things to try. Would you enjoy art based on original Graveyard photography? I do graveyard photography myself, and would love other people’s art based on it. What's in your Netflix or Blockbuster queue, do you want any new Netflix/Blockbuster friends, if so how do we find you on there? I have Netflix. My queue. Do you play a musical instrument? Eight years of the flute. What do you think of Irrelevant Disturbing and Surreal Crawdad Dream? Love it? Hate it? Kicking yourself for not getting a bottle? I have a bottle and am kind of on the edge about it. I like the blueberries in Blue Fire, but these seem to be too real. How do you feel about trinkets? You know - tiny toys or doodads that serve no purpose than to be cute, take up space and make us smile. Love them or waste of money? Love them. I'm always able to find more space for cute little things. Can melty things be shipped to you, or will they be in puddles by the time you open the package? I think the hot weather is over, so yeah. Might be a good idea, though to wrap them separately. Who likes pirates? Me! What are your feelings about Dia De Los Muertos? I love the idea, decorations, and the colors...and sugar skulls! What do you think about the Nightmare Before Christmas? It’s one of my favorite movies! Tim Burton is a genius! If candy is sent, would you prefer small amounts to a Halloween sized bag? Small amounts of different kinds. How do you feel about Hello Kitty? Sanrio is the one thing that I’ve loved all my life. Hello Kitty, Dear Daniel, My Melody, Chococat, etc. How do y'all feel about honey and maple? And different flavored honey, not just the standard kind? Sure! What is your favorite thing to do on a cool fall day? I have to be outside! Walking through a forest preserve, going to cemetaries. Fall is the best time to take pictures.

OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Decanting

Here's where I'm at with the Halloweenie/Sleepy Hollow decanting:   all decants are labeled except for 2 scents...I'll have those done before I go to bed.   Then I need to sort and pack everything (decants, frimps, goodies) before I'm ready to mail.   For fun - here's pictures of my set up while I was labeling the decants. My computer has iTunes playing random picks and picture of my beau to keep my mind alert. As I decant, the unmarked vials go in plastic bags with the labels for each particular scent, then I take those one-by-one and tape the labels to the vials...and back into the baggie to wait for sorting time.     Here's my packing supplies ready and waiting for action - the lower two shelves, laden with treat baggies, treats (hidden from your view presently), frimps, bubblewrap and envelopes.   So I do have a method to my madness...I just thought you might like a peek at my process.

Why I may be somewhat withdrawn

As some of you might know, my sister decided to get a divorce this summer, a decision that floored me- but that I do support. She loves her kids and wouldn't do anything without a good reason. I've learned some of those reasons. They met in court yesterday to begin the proceedings- I don't know the precise terms, but they were supposed to present one another with papers or something. I had a therapy appointment yesterday. My husband was in the waiting room and my sister's husband walked into the building. He was carrying various folders and papers and whatnot, and greeted my husband, who probably wouldn't have noticed him otherwise. So therapy is hitting on some rough territory lately and I'm usually quite a wreck after them. We got into the car and my husband explains what he saw, suggesting that my sister's husband might've been meeting with a lawyer. I shook my head. He wasn't meeting with A lawyer. He was meeting with THE lawyer. I don't live in a huge metropolis, but if we had the equivalent of a hotshot media-whore sleazy big city lawyer, he would be it.   Last I heard, my sister was working with legal aid, or whoever does it for cheap, so I tried to get ahold of her all day to see if she knew. Last night, I finally did. She did know. It's ALL like something out of a soap opera. Apparently, she hadn't been aware that he'd had a lawyer until they both swept into court... because the lawyer wasn't even on the dockett. Huh? How does that even work? Is it legal to take a judge by surprise like that?   And I'm worried her lawyer isn't even competent.

Scents I Have Tried....

Here is a list of scents I have tried and have not agreed with me... Questions from the forum and more

Dear Witch, I'm breaking down and buying Samhain & Katrina von Tassel (the first for me and the second to share with my mom for her bday. If she loves it I'll give her the whole bottle). These are the two that I am anticipating loving the most and wearing most often out of the pack. I wouldn't mind an extra bottle of either if you already have it in hand! I'm also going to pick up Lilth Victoria. I want all those lovely forum only scents, but I have to prioritize, right?   Do you like Mystery Science Theater 3000? Have you tried out (and if not, would you be interested in doing so) its weird little brother, RiffTrax? I don't think I ever sat down and watched one of these. Never heard of RiffTrax.   Do you often drink take away coffe in paper mugs? Once every other week or so I might get some tea, but not often. I prefer to make my own at work. I would like to bring it from home but I don't have a travel mug! (It would have to me microwavable)   What would a perfume based on you smell like? Interesting question (I loved reading everyone's answers to this one!!). I think honey, exotic spices, and a light rose.   Who here likes Wizard of Oz things? I like the wizard of oz, but I don't *love* the wizard of oz. A funky fun piece would be nifty, but a whole box would be overwhelming   Your thoughts on the update? I mentioned this a bit earlier I believe. It was a relief that I'm not too interested in Blood Moon! I am somewhat intriged by the BPTP update ... the pancake scent sounds interesting, but I don't want to be craving them daily! I often wish I had a good friend that also loved bpal and was close so we could split bottles of things that we like but don't want to wear on a daily basis. (I admit that I don't know if I'll be able to finish a bottle of just about anything and I feel really wasteful!!)   How do you decide what to put in which package for your Witchee or how many packages to send? I thiiiiink I'm trying to do loose themes, but nothing specific. My goal right now is three packages, growing in size each time *cackles and rubs hands together*. I love plotting!   If you were my witchee, would you be terribly offended if I sent you a box containing project "experiments" or random miscellaneous pretty bits of brainstorming that I thought you might like/wear? No! Absolutely not; I'd love it! <3 <3 <3 homemade stuffs.   From Sept 12th How do you feel about Hello Kitty? Meh. I do have a bag that a Japanese friend bought me (long ago) with Miffy on it that I still like; but it isn't super cutsie. It's beige and orange which is great!   What is everyone's "luck" item? I don't have one. I have a couple pieces of jewelry that I really like, but I don't think that they are particularly "lucky".

Willcall sept 15

Ah, barely got to see the willcall. I brought a boi, as men are good for carrying things. He helped me lug all the canned foods (and brought some of his own). Due to the donation, I got an imp of Horn of Almathea. I barely got to sniff at a few prototypes & halloweenies before leaving. Ah well.   I sniffed gunpowder & it was nicely sweet. I revisited the pumpkins & decided the only one I liked was #1 & that it wasn't perfect for me. I'm really looking forward to the new CD act though. & I must snag another Agrat & candy butcher before the carnival leaves town (assuming the finances allow).

Planning the order

The order:   1. Katrina van Tassel 2. Fearful Pleasure or Samhain 3. Maybe a Snake? Cottonmouth? Western Diamondback? Asp Viper? Snake Oil? 4. Inez or Marianne?   Yules: 5. Snow White Rose Red if I like it   I'll have to see if I like Brisingamen. I really have to restrain myself concerning Lyonesse - buying a GC unsniffed is stupid. I pondered Snake Oil but since I'm going to get Lilith Victoria, which basically is a Snake Oil sibling, I don't think I need to. Uh. That's not much I want...? What's wrong?   Re: Fearful Pleasure vs. Samhain I lean strongly to Fearful Pleasure because of ivyandpeony's advice, but I'll see how I like last year's Samhain first. Oh okay since I love Samhain... maybe I just get both?   Cottonmouth vs. Western Diamondback vs. Asp Viper Cottonmouth seems similar to Antique Lace and has Linden, which I adore (-> The Unicorn). The ever so generous Medvssa is going to gift me a decant of Western Diamondback, so we'll see. Asp Viper has Almond and is supposed to be a child of Dana O'Shee+Queen of Sheba+Snake Oil. If that isn't enough to want it? I wonder, though - is Asp Viper very similar to Wester Diamondback then? I don't need a Dana O'Shee sibling. And I don't need a Antique Lace sibling either. Cottonmouth Snake Oil with linden blossom, calla lily, passion flower, and narcissus. Asp Viper Snake Oil with red mandarin, myrrh, and almond. All the Snakes that tempt me seem too similar to something one way or the other. Australian Copperhead has apples and cloves and stuff but I'm sure it'll be too similar to Fearful Pleasure to warrant buying. After all, I want Snake Oil minus the Patchouli and not something else.   Rose Red vs. Day of the Skulls The generous Medvssa is sending me imps of Rose Red and Parlement of Foules. Parlement of Foules apparently smells similar to Day of the Skulls so if I fall in love with it ... Of course one could question oneself why I need a FOURTH rose scent when I have Alice, Persephone and Katrina? I guess the answer this time actually is: I don't and I won't.

questions and answers

How do y'all feel about honey and maple? And different flavored honey, not just the standard kind? I love maple syrup, the darker the better! Strongly flavored honeys are good too.   What is your favorite thing to do on a cool fall day? Bake! It's been too hot all summer to bake bread, but I think it's about time to start a sourdough culture again.   If you have pets, is there a SPECIFIC toy they like to play with; brand and size? Is there a treat/cookie they eat? What brand and size? Maggie loves any kind of squeezy toy -- big, small, with or without squeakers -- I've ever made her toys by sewing a square of fabric together and stuffing it with polyfill. As noted in my profile, she can't have food treats due to allergies. The cats mostly scorn toys, but like catnip.   What's your ringtone? A cuckoo clock.   What think you about receiving tea accessories and/or miscellany (like mugs, cups, saucers, strainers/filters, honey, natural sweeteners [like stevia])? Tea is good! I don't use sweeteners in it, though, just straight-up tea.   How do you feel about copies of music or dvd's that your witch might have that you might enjoy? Not just mixes, but whole copies? I prefer not to receive entire copies of cds or dvds, especially if it's something by an independent artist. Mix cds are great, though.   Tarts? Yes/no? In moderation. I actually have a lot of tarts and scented candles right now.   I'm wondering if my witchee would like to try these types of things (like the caramel with sea salts or chocolates with chilis/bacon/salt etc.)? I love love love salt caramels -- I've even made them a few times. Spicy chocolate is tasty too, as long as it doesn't contain peppercorn. Kind of dubious about the bacon chocolate, but I'd be willing to try it once.   What's your favorite animal? Cats.   What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? The Illustrated Woman. I've been planning to order it, but the last few lunacies haven't grabbed me, so the order hasn't happened yet.   What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? Hagen Daaz chocolate ice cream.   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? Maybe. As mentioned above, I'm planning to order a bottle of Illustrated Woman the next time there's an update with something that appeals to me. And I may buy some socks and armwarmers, because it's starting to get chilly here.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? Nope. I have tattoos on both wrists, and watches look funny over them.

I've never even heard of ice wine before this, so I've never tried it   What other perfume companies (besides bpal) have you been curious about? none. I have enough problems with my BPAL obsession. I've gotten sample of various others before but haven't liked any of them and just pass them on to others.   Does anyone here do anything with grave rubbings? nope   Would you enjoy art based on original Graveyard photography? sure   What's in your Netflix or Blockbuster queue, do you want any new Netflix/Blockbuster friends, if so how do we find you on there? there's lots of things in my Netflix queue... but my membership is currently on hold due to lack of money and the fact that I work 2nd shift.   Do you play a musical instrument? nope   What do you think of Irrelevant Disturbing and Surreal Crawdad Dream? Love it? Hate it? Kicking yourself for not getting a bottle? I wasn't able to order it when it was live, even though I wanted to (it sounds lovely!)... I was supposed to be getting a bottle from a friend who did order and didn't like it, but she's not sent it to me yet

Bliss

A shot of pure, self-indulgent euphoria! A scent that is very, very wicked in its own way: the serotonin-slathered scent of pure milk chocolate.   Reviewed 09/14/2008   In the imp: Chocolate, and nothing but.   Wet: Melted chocolate. Yum.   Drydown: This is gobs of milk chocolate. Not the expensive dark chocolates of Candy Butcher or the sticky rich chocolate of Lump of Coal, but pure milk chocolate, like a handful of Hershey Kisses. There's not much throw, this is definitely one that you have to be close to sniff.
