More questions answered!

My dearest Witch,   I have started a new entry because that last one was so long! I hope this makes things easier for you!   Love, Your Witchee   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? No, I will not. I have a witchee to spoil! I did update my BPAL list, though.   I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? I love blankets! It may be too heavy to post overseas, though.   What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? I have discovered these things in the UK called Flapjacks. They are a buttery granola bar type thing, quite thick but soft, and the top part is dipped in Belgian Dark Chocolate. It is oh so bad for me but oh so good! Not too sweet. They are made fresh at our local grocery store and I have to speed by the bakery counter so I don't get one all the time.   If you could have dinner/drinks/coffee with any 3 living people that are not your family/friends already, who would they be?   Terry Jones of Monty Python fame. He is a medievalist, like me, and we could be very geeky together. Tori Amos because she is intelligent, quirky, and her music has had such a huge impact on my life. Margaret George, who is one of my favorite authors. I have read everything she has ever written and I would love to pick her brain about future novels.   If you could bring back any TV show from cancellation what would it be? I don't watch much TV, but, I did really like Six Feet Under. It came to a natural end, but, it was quite good.   What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? The new forum only baby celebration scent, Lady Lilith, and Ichabod Crane.   Favorite animals? Dogs, hedgehogs, owls   Funky chocolate? Yes, of course! The Pumpkin Spice chocolate sounds so good! Although, no bacon. Ick!   Tarts? Sounds good!   Say, witches, I have a question about birthdays: do you expect/rely on other people to plan birthday outings and activities? No. People have never planned a birthday party for me (other than my parents). I am just used to my birthday going quietly by.   What think you about receiving tea accessories and/or miscellany (like mugs, cups, saucers, strainers/filters, honey, natural sweeteners [like stevia])? A nice mug and filter would be lovely! Honey and stevia would also be fantastic! I use stevia with my detox tea.   Munsters or Addams Family, y'all? Addams Family! dadadada *snap, snap* dadadada *snap, snap*   What's your ringtone? Tori Amos Precious Things. For my husband, it is Brave Sir Robin from Spamalot (his name is Robin).   If you have pets, is there a SPECIFIC toy they like to play with; brand and size? Is there a treat/cookie they eat? What brand and size? Marley and Bailey adore their Planet Dog earth bouncy balls (the smallest ones). They are finally starting to fall to bits after 3-4 years of use (and that is because the big dog got a hold of them). I have been contemplating an order, but, they have to go to my mom first because the International Shipping is so high. Great products and they donate money to no-kill animal shelters. Buster loves his Planet Dog bone. It is the big one, but, he took it with him to the park and buried it. We have no idea where it is. Silly dog! I think they might be getting new toys for Christmas. Treats, well, they like pretty much anything. Greenies are their favorite, but, they are expensive, so, please don't shell out for them. My mom sends regular installments of Greenies and they finally showed up here. Otherwise, they adore biscuits. When I lived in the states, I would often make doggie biscuits myself, or, if I was short on time, I bought them from The Barkery, which was just two towns over. They loved the Cheese and Peanut Butter ones. Wow, I spoil my dogs, don't I? I should probably just start making my own again.   Burned CDs/ DVDs / &c. Sure!   What is your favorite thing to do on a cool fall day? Take a long walk in the woods or go apple picking. I love the outdoors in the fall. I will definitely miss my New England fall this year.   Honey? I love honey! Especially flavored honey. I remember getting these honey sticks in the fall. You snap the end off and eat the honey straight away. Mmmmm, tasty!   Pirates: Love the concept and the Pirates of the Carribean films. I like the skull and crossbones thing, too!   Dia de los Muertos: Love it! The art, concept, everything! I grew up celebrating it, so, I hold it pretty close.   Nightmare before Christmas: Jack rocks my world!   Sending melty stuff: That's fine. It is getting pretty cool here now, so, no too much danger of things melting beyond repair.   If candy is sent, would you prefer small amounts to a Halloween sized bag? Small amounts, please. A Halloween sized bag would make the postage too expensive (and it would make my husband too excitable-ha ha).   Do you like floral bath soaps, shower gels, etc? Some florals work really well on me, but, only when they are balanced with something spicy, it seems. I am still newish to this, so, I am sure there are some out there that might work. I do lean more toward citrus and green smells, though.   How do you feel about trinkets? Trinkets are fun!   What do you think of Irrelevant Disturbing and Surreal Crawdad Dream? Love it? Hate it? Kicking yourself for not getting a bottle? I have it and have tested it. It smells great, but, it always makes me want blueberry muffins or blueberry pancakes. Not good for the weight loss efforts.   Do you play a musical instrument? No. My husband plays classical guitar. I can plunk on the piano. I do sing, though. I was classically trained for 9 years.   Has anyone tried ice wine before? Do/did they enjoy it? It is really tasty! It is really expensive, though.   What other perfume companies (besides bpal) have you been curious about? A couple of the Possets are intriguing and some of the Arcanas. I do love my BPAL, though.   Does anyone here do anything with grave rubbings? If I could find big enough paper, I would have them matted and hanging all over the house. Nothing is cooler than medieval grave rubbings (or Victorian, Restoration, etc, etc).   Would you enjoy art based on original Graveyard photography? Yes, I would. I am morbid like that.   What's in your Netflix or Blockbuster queue, do you want any new Netflix/Blockbuster friends, if so how do we find you on there? We don't have those here in the UK.   What makes you stand out from the Switch Witch crowd? I don't really know. I'm not as interesting as all these fabulous people.   Legwarmers? Arm warmers? Leg warmers, no. Arm warmers, YES! I live in the land of being cold all Fall and Winter. It always seems to by my arms that are cold, too.

Switch witch ever expanding question list

OK, in kindness to my poor witch, here are answers to the Amazing Endless Question List:   Coffee or Tea: more tea than coffee. Loose or bagged is fine. Also have french press and one of those little individual drip things when I want coffee. Hot cocoa is good too. Food/Homemade Goodies/Kits/Specialty Cooking Stuff: homemade goodies would be happily accepted. Flavored oils herbs, and interesting or local favorite condiments are also good. Guilty Pleasure/Favorite Hard To Get Treat: I don't know if it counts, but I really miss real back east salt bagels, and being able to order bagels and lox in a restaurant. In other decadent food areas, dark chocolate, gummi worms, and Ben and Jerry's Peanutbutter Cup ice cream, good pizza, fresh bread w/butter and honey Hats/Scarves/Gloves/Sox/Slippers: I absolutely love scarves, especially long full ones! It doesn't really get too cold here, at least by my standards, but it is damp/chilly a lot of the time and a scarf around my neck will keep me warm without being too hot. I like hats, but don't know the size. Also I wear my hair up a lot which needs a larger size. I like old fashioned hatpins, the long pointy kind with a decorative end. Feet are size 9/10 depending on the cut of things. I like fuzzy wool sox in the winter, cause I refuse to wear shoes unless it is absolutely necessary. Blankets: oh yes, blankets are nice. My house isn't warm, and we have electric(read expensive) heat. Hair Toys: I wear a lot of hair toys. Small claw clips are a total gift from the gods. I like hair sticks, and the kind of elastics that don't have metal. Donation in my name: the ACLU, or Buzzflash would be great. Gently Used: excellent. This includes books, CDs, Movies, general neat stuff--I draw the line at used undies though. Favorite Artist/Style/Period: Impressionist and art nouveau. Arts and crafts. Lautrec, Van Gogh, Mackintosh Jewelery: don't wear much. Pierced ears. Silver is best, or hypoallergenic. No rings or bracelets. I like carnelian, garnet, jade, moonstone, lapis, rutilated quartz Music: various. No christian, rap, elvis, or baby voiced girly singers. I like what is usually called "classic rock," blues in the Leadbelly, Billie Holliday vein, I like folk and "protest" music. I like the Chieftains, Steeleye Span, Cherish the Ladies, but not generic "celtic" music. I like Bob Dylan, the Dead, Willie Nelson, David Bowie and Leonard Cohen. I like the Sex Pistols, the Kinks, The Clash, The Cure, Metallica, the Dixie Chicks, Pete Seeger, Johnny Cash, the Squirrel Nut Zippers, and Pink Martini. I don't listen to much of what is on mainstream radio right now. Movies/DVD: would not object to movies, used is just fine. I like Sci-Fi, adventure, and creepy crawlies, as long as they are clever and not just gore fests. Will I buy From My Wishlist During The Round: Probably not, as I don't have much $ and it is going to be used to spoil my witchee. If I do find something I can't turn down, it won't matter as the things I want tend to be rare and/or things I always want on hand. That said, I do not expect any BPAL from my witch, and will be perfectly glad to get whatever s/he feels is fun to send. Which BPAL would I most like to have/get more of: Punkie Night, as far as hard to gets, Frumious Bandersnatch, Poisoned Apple for GC. Lilith Victoria is the only one of the current LE set I mourn over not having. I keep trying to find a good strong citrus note that doesn't also come with stuff that doesn't work on me, but so far no luck. Same with mint, although Tokoyo Stomp is great and I love it, I would like a stronger, mintier, cooler mint that isn't softened with something. Favorite Notes: amber, incense, opium, citrus, ginger, vanilla, tobacco, tonka, mint, cocoa, black currant, rosewood Notes that don't work: neroli, rose, the dreaded "white florals" sweet or powdery notes, most of the things that say aquatic, or ozone, Other Perfumes/Bath,Body,Home Products: Don't use many. I have a Parrot, which limits the things I can have as scents tend to be hard on their lungs. I have never tried any of the lush or villianess stuff. I occasionally buy some Bath and Body showergels, but they keep discontinuing the scents I like. The only mainstream perfumes I use/like are Obsession from Calvin Klein, Opium, and Tabac Blonde from Caron. When I was in high school (forever ago)I used to wear Love's Fresh Lemon, which was a wonderful realistic, non-sweet lemon--sadly discontinued and I have never found anything comparable. It was great layered with patchouli too. Three People I Would Most Like to Have Tea With: Albert Einstein, Gertrude Stein, Mark Twain for dead people. David Soldner, Thom Hartman, Leonard Cohen for live people. Favorite Places: Museum of Natural History in NYC, Silver Falls State Park, Alfred University, Atlantic City Boardwalk, Oregon Coast. Favorite Fall Drink: hot spiced cider TV show I would most like to have back: pre-Serenity Firefly. Blackadder Forum Buddies: not so much so far. don't know any forumites in RL Favorite Animal: hedgehogs, racoons, foxes, dragons, general wild things Pets/Names: At this time I have two outdoor cats. One was originally owned by the people down the street, but adopted us. She is black with short hair. The other is a stray or abandoned siamese that just showed up and stayed. The black cat is Minus, because she used to hang out with a white cat and my partner called them Plus and Minus. The siamese is Brat. She deserves it. I also have a quaker parrot, which I adopted about a month ago, who still needs a name. The original name sux and the bird doesn't answer to it. If it wasn't already claimed by the cat, I would name the parrot Brat. Cell Phone Charms: don't have a cell phone Cell Phone or MP3 case/cover: don't have an MP3 Alice in Wonderland: I like the Alice stories, but I'm not a fanatic. Star Trek: I was a serious fan of original Trek--when it was first on--yes I'm old--and still like it well enough. I enjoyed Next Generation, but didn't follow any of the rest of the spinoffs. I like Picard, Data, and Spock, of course. Bandaids: Don't generally use them. Can't throw with them on. The funky ones are fun though. Beading, Knitting, Crochet Supplies: Don't actually need any, but interesting focal beads or fiber is always fun. Kilts: not on me, but guys in kilts...Yum! My partner in a kilt...Multiple YUM!!! (yes, he does have a kilt, and yes, he wears it) Puzzles,Crosswords, etc: not so much Comics: not particularly Watch: don't own one. I kill them. The electric ones batteries die w/in a month, and wind ups tend to meet with strange and fatal accidents, so I gave up. Reserved/Raunchy: I can go either way. Raunch for its own sake gets boring though, it needs to be clever also. Earth, Air, Fire, Water: Earth and Fire--there's a good reason I'm a potter Pen Types/Stationery/Calligraphy: I like ball point pens with the soft squooshy grips, cause they make it hurt less to write. I can actually do calligraphy, but rarely do it any more, and my regular handwriting looks like a spastic chicken walked across the page with ink on its feet. I like the idea of stationery, but rarely write letters. Bugs: usually I coexist fairly peacefully with bugs, but I am severely allergic to spider bites, and that is probably as close to a phobia as I have. I can look at them, or pictures of them, just fine--get one on me and you will be peeling me off the ceiling. Dragonflies, however are really cool! And I keep toying with the idea of keeping bees.   Wishlists elsewhere: not so far. I finally made a BPAL wishlist, but need to link it to my sig.   OK, that is a start at least. Now I have to go because my very patient partner wants to eat sometime this evening and we have to shop first

Hallowe'enie SW Whoozits

It's easier to keep these in one place, y0.   BPTP Room Sprays...your thoughts?: I never, ever thought I'd dig the BPTP room sprays, but hey! I was wrong. Ever since I discovered one can wear them as fragrance by spraying some felt and sticking it in a locket, or spraying one's clothes, I've been all over the Cathouse. I'm in a decant circle for the Hallowe'enies, and can't wait until they get here.   What would a perfume based on you smell like?: At the moment, I'd say pumpkin, cinnamon, mulled cider, a wee bit of lemon and orange, and a deep black vanilla base.   Who here likes Wizard of Oz things?: Definitely not me.   Stance on Joss Whedon and his enterprises?: I'm a huge Firefly/Serenity fan. Other than that, I don't dig anything he's done (including Buffy, gasp!).   What is your favorite pumpkin goodness? Anything. Everything. Pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin.   What Halloween scent are you most looking forward to? I have high hopes for Mictecacihuatl, Samhain '08, Sticky Pillowcase, Sugar Skull '08, and Pumpkin IV.   What incense scents do you prefer? Anything light -- heavy incense aggravates my sinus issues like you wouldn't believe. Mints, vanillas, and light fruity scents are always winners.   Do you decorate for Halloween? What sort of decorations? Dress up for Halloween? Of course I decorate! I turn my spare bedroom in a special, Samhain-y area, and do the rest of the house in secular Hallowe'en decorations. I usually go to secular Hallowe'en parties on the 30th, and I almost always dress up. I haven't decided what I'll be this year yet!   Bats, cats, skeletons, monsters, vampires, witches or what other ghoulies do you prefer? Bats, vampires, monsters, and skeletons have always been my favorites.   Do you like horror flicks? I'm a horror junkie -- of course I like horror flicks.   Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? I'm an Earth sign, but I've always been attracted to (not that way! ) and have had an affinity for fire.   Tea or Coffee in the morning? Coffee as a get-me-moving, tea as a keep-me-moving.   Bugs? Do you like 'em or not? In art and the like, love 'em. In the real world, not so much.   By nature are you a morning lark or a night owl? Night owl. I do like the very early morning, right before and after sunrise.   What is your favorite autumnal-seasonal drink? Mulled cider, anything pumpkin-y.   Are you a soap addict? Oh, my, yes.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? I've tried to wear watches; it just doesn't stick. I have my phone with me all the time, so I just check it when I need to know the time.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? Both! I bought an ingenuiTEA not long ago, so loose tea is no longer a hassle. (Even when it was a hassle, I still loved it!)   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? This is Michigan, so yes, it gets bitterly cold. It doesn't usually get scarf-hat-mittens cold until mid-November, though.   Does your cell phone have a place to attach charms? Alas, nope. I have an iPhone in silicone skin, so there's just no place for charms.   If you drink coffee (and make it yourself) do you use a French Press, regular filter basket coffee maker, Espresso Machine, Percolator? I'm lazy: I buy, not make, my coffee.   What movie soundtracks (or scores) do you love? I've never been big on soundtracks, but I love the Nightmare Before Christmas and Moulin Rouge! soundtracks.   How do you scent yourself? Do you layer soaps, moisturizers, etc. or do you go straight to slathering your bod with BPAL? I don't co-ordinate things, with one exception: if I know I'm going to put perfume on right after a shower, I'll use an unscented lotion/cream. I also tend to apply an unscented thick creme before applying roll-ons, since it seems to increase scent life.   Do you/how do you scent your world? Candles, incense, diffusers, potpourri? None of the above? All of the above! I tend to use potpourri in my kitchen, incense in my room, and diffusers, candles, and/or tarts in the other rooms.   Would you enjoy oil or vinegar flavored with herbs grown at home? Oy, yes. I love both olive oil and vinegar. On an unrelated note, French fries + white vinegar = LOVE.   Who here is a complete, over the top, Alice In Wonderland fanatic? ME. ME. ME.   What kind of music (genres, please) do you like? I'm a "the louder, the better" type of girl: heavy metal, hard rock; anything loud with guitars, really. I'm loving the new Metallica album (which I intend to buy when released!).   Have any of you ever received a book from a Witchy and loved it so much you ended up buying a copy for a later Witchee? Not a book, but several times a Witch has sent something so awesome I had to find another for a future Witchee.   What keywords do you use when searching for items for yourself on Etsy? "Dragon," "Steampunk," and "Alice" seem to be popular. I always forget to mention that I love dragons and dragonflies, and have a predilection for all things steampunk.   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? Probably not? I never know what I'll do re: BPAL from one moment to the next.

Question List of Doom

What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? Pickled imp. I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? No, thank you. I love cozy things, but have plenty of blankies.   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? I might, but I wouldn't buy anything that I would mind duplicates of.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? I don't wear one.   What is your favorite art movement and/or style? ie impressionist, surrealist, art nouveau, etc. Post-impressionism and pre-Raphaelite. I also like fine art photography. I don't care for modern art or Monet.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose. I don't drink tea, but I like my coffee whole bean and unflavored.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? Yes! I am cold all winter long, and love having warm things to wear. I don't really wear mittens, though. Gloves, hats and scarves get lots of love.   What manner of affordable Witchery might you covet? Burned music or online playlists or lists of recommended music. Baked goods. Whatever your craft may be. A Flickr set of pictures taken of great buildings or places around your town.   Does your cell phone have a place to attach charms? No.   How do people feel about receiving baked goods/kits to make said goods? Or other cooking items? Would you enjoy oil or vinegar flavored with herbs grown at home? Strange and exotic spices with recipes to try? Cookies made with carnation petals? Yes, yes and yes. Except if the spices are weird, please let me know what to do with them!   Who here is a complete, over the top, Alice In Wonderland fanatic? Not over the top, but I do collect Alice stuff.   Are you a Trekkie? If so, which series do you prefer? Do you have a favorite character? I don't like sci fi in general. Exceptions are the new Dr. Who and Torchwood and Farscape.   Do you have phobias? Falling. Heights (see: falling). Vomit. How do you like your mix CDs? Random? Stuff you know you'll like? I want what you think I'd like, or what you think I should be exposed to.   Would you rather get food or jewellery? Jewelry.   Do you like children's toys, such as jacks, those little things you tilt around to get the ball in the right hold (wtf are those called?), the aforementioned caplet dinosaurs, cap guns, etc?: I like them, but I don't necessarily want them.     English candy/tea/marmite or other stuff that you love and can't easily get outside of England? I've always wanted to try musk flavored candy, even though it scares me a little.     Fanfic as a gift* - yay or nay? Your fandom? Slash preferences?*well, a virtual gift obviously. You know what I mean. No, thank you.   Band-aids: do you like the fun and funky ones? I like the fun ones, except for the kind that look like bacon. Those freak me out.   play video games? Platform? Do you like used games? We have a Wii and PS2, but I only ever play Guitar Hero.     What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? Neutral shades that can last the workday. I've never tried MAC, but want to.   Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? I love it, but I usually go for gloss or sparkle without color.   Are you active on any other boards/forums? If so please specify where and your username there. Only on Ravelry. I'm autumnbriars there, too, but you have to be a member to access the site.   Where are a few of your favorite places? Anyplace with an ocean, or a historical urban area. Assateague Island. New Orleans.   Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? Yes! I've been wanting to try soap from Gothic Rosary, and Vampire's Garden from Nocturne Alchemy.   What size socks do you wear? How about hat size? Hats usually run towards smaller sizes, and socks should fit a woman's 6.5-7 foot.   Do you read comics? Which ones do you love and which can't you stand? I don't like most, but I've enjoyed Fell and Buffy.   Symbols that are meaningful to me? Hands. Spirals. Willow trees.   What's your favorite type of music to hear live, rather than recorded? I'd rather hear just about all music live than recorded, but singer-songwriter type folk is probably my favorite.   What is your favorite autumnal-seasonal drink? Pumpkin spice lattes.   Crossword puzzles? Other pencil puzzles? Can't stand them.   Favorite poet? Walt Whitman. Poe.   Halloween. Do you like it kooky or creepy? A little of both. Reserved or Raunchy? Pretty reserved.   Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? Earth.   Fruity snacks or chocolate? Chocolate. Dark chocolate.   Would you accept art? Sure.   Antiques or Brand New? Antiques.   What keywords do you use when searching for items for yourself on Etsy? yarn, handspun, steampunk, victorian   i haz no imp storage. do you? I'm pretty well set for storage.   What is your favorite pumpkin goodness? I love pumpkin everything!

Computer woes

As some of you know, my husband's hard drive died. He got a new one as his old one was under warranty... and after about six hours of working just fine (with all the updates and formatting) the computer shut off like it'd been doing before. He thinks this is indicative of an issue with overheating, but WHAT is overheating? Or it could be the power supply. If he tries to turn it back on, it goes into this loop of the boot screen, then loading windows, then a flash of blue and then wash, rinse, repeat. Add that to the fact that we're on an excruciatingly tight budget this month, and he is going to have to slog along with his old one- which is unstable as it is. So, yeah. This has attached to my depression in a big way. Fun stuff.

Tiki Queen

Oh wow, I love this! In the bottle it was a sweet, fruity, almost candy/bubblegum scent.   On my skin it blends into this beautiful, lush tropical scent. Finally, a blend where the ylang ylang doesn't take over! It isn't too floral, with just the right about of fruitiness, and as it dries something a bit green keeps this from going to sweet.   In my locket it is delicious, but in a completely different way. It is brighter and more fruity and just a bit more bubblegum smelling.   I absolutely LOVE it! Now I just need to track down more!

Some Gaiman scent reviews

Snow, Glass, ApplesShe said nothing. Her eyes were black as coal, black as her hair; her lips were redder than blood. She looked up at me and smiled. Her teeth seemed sharp, even then, in the lamplight.   "What are you doing away from your room?"   "I'm hungry," she said, like any child.   It was winter, when fresh food is a dream of warmth and sunlight; but I had strings of whole apples, cored and dried, hanging from the beams of my chamber, and I pulled an apple down for her.   "Here."   Autumn is the time of drying, of preserving, a time of picking apples, of rendering the goose fat. Winter is the time of hunger, of snow, and of death; and it is the time of the midwinter feast, when we rub the goose-fat into the skin of a whole pig, stuffed with that autumn's apples, then we roast it or spit it, and we prepare to feast upon the crackling.   She took the dried apple from me and began to chew it with her sharp yellow teeth.   "Is it good?"   She nodded. I had always been scared of the little princess, but at that moment I warmed to her and, with my fingers, gently, I stroked her cheek. She looked at me and smiled -- she smiled but rarely -- then she sank her teeth into the base of my thumb, the Mound of Venus, and she drew blood.   I began to shriek, from pain and from surprise; but she looked at me and I fell silent.     Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab is thrilled to present a numbered, limited edition chapbook of Neil Gaiman's acclaimed short story, Snow, Glass, Apples, beautifully illustrated by Julie Dillon. Each package includes a 5ml bottle of perfume, created by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, that was inspired by the tale. In Neil's words, 'It smells like green apples and like sex and vampires, all at the same time. (Actually, it smells like sexy vampire apples.)' This set is a limited run of 1000. 250 were sold by CBLDF at San Diego Comic Con 2008, and the remainder are available through the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab web site. Snow, Glass, Apples will be available on the BPAL site as long as supplies last. This is a charitable, not-for-profit venture: proceeds from every single set go to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, which works to preserve and protect the First Amendment rights of the comics community.   A million thanks and all our love to Neil, and to Charles Brownstein and his staff at the CBLDF! This is awesome. In the bottle, it smells like apples, mint and something else I can't really pin down. On wet, the mint is very strong. Dry, this is just great. Apples, a touch of mint, that elusive something, and cold. This is the first time I've tried one of the wintry scents, and it definitely smells cold. Very nice.   Mama-JiShadow saw the old woman, her dark face pinched with age and disapproval, but behind her he saw something huge, a naked woman with skin as black as a new leather jacket, and lips and tongue the bright red of arterial blood. Around her neck were skulls, and her many hands held knives, and swords, and severed heads.   Spices, cardamom, nutmeg, and flowers. In the bottle, I get lovely spices. The cardamom and nutmeg, maybe some cinnamon, not sure what else. On wet, still lovely spices. Unfortunately, when this dries, it turns to spices and baby powder on me. Bummer. It smelled so nice wet.   Mad Sweeney"Coin tricks is it?" asked Sweeney, his chin raising, his scruffy beard bristling. "Why, if it's coin tricks we're doing, watch this."   He took an empty glass from the table. Then he reached out and took a large coin, golden and shining, from the air. He dropped it into the glass. He took another gold coin from the air and tossed it into the glass, where it clinked against the first. He took a coin from the candle flame of a candle on the wall, another from his beard, a third from Shadow's empty left hand, and dropped them, one by one, into the glass. Then he curled his fingrs over the glass, and blew hard, and several more golden coins dropped into the glass from his hand. He tipped the glass of sticky coins into his jacket pocket, and then tapped the pocket to show, unmistakably, that it was empty.   "There," he said. "That's a coin trick for you."   Barrel-aged whiskey and oak. I love this! In the bottle and on wet, it smells very strongly of whiskey, with maybe a tiny bit of the oak. Once it dries, however, it's this lovely combination of whiskey, oak and smoky spices. To quote my hubby, "Ooh, it smells like a fireplace" (in the best possible way). Love it.   BilquisThe Queen of Sheba, half-demon, they said, on her father's side, witch woman, wise woman, and queen, who ruled Sheba when Sheba was the richest land there ever was, when its spices and its gems and scented woods were taken by boat and camel-back to the corners of the earth, who was worshipped even when she was alive, worshipped as a living goddess by the wisest of kings, stands on the sidewalk of Sunset Boulevard at 2:00 A.M. staring blankly out at traffic like a slutty plastic bride on a black-and-neon wedding cake. She stands as if she owns the sidewalk and the night that surrounds her.   Honey, myrrh, lily of the valley, rose otto, fig leaf, almond, ambrette, red apple, and warm musk.   In the bottle, this is spicy, with honey and almond. There's also a bit of green that I think may be the fig leaf, and something else. The ambrette? On wet, the myrrh comes out a bit, but not overwhelmingly so. It's still mostly a spicy/honey/almond scent. Dry, the rose comes out, but surprisingly, it's not bad. This is really nice. Definitely my thing.

Addiction hits home

Hah one hour into the forum and here I am already contemplating a BIG order. I have to say that none of my bottles got really empty during that year and ALL my imps have aged beautifully.   I have to get the two scents the Lab made for Ted's+Beth's baby - they just sound too wonderful not to get them. Sweet, powdery baby scents are right my thing. I hated Snake Oil because it turned into something awful on me, but my aged Imp smells beautiful. Then Alice, White Rabbit and Dana O'Shee tell me to finally buy them too. Persephone wants to come along as well. Am I stupid - 6 bottles? That would double my stash   Let's see and compare notes: The ones I have already:   Snow White A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers. Dragon Moon dragon's blood resin, tea leaf, bamboo reed, sandalwood and cherry blossom. Antique Lace A soft, wistful blend of dry flowers, aged linens, and the faint breath of long-faded perfumes. Dragon's Milk Dragon's blood resin and honeyed vanilla. Enraged Bunny Musk Soft cotton blossom, white musk, baby's breath, clover and pale powder notes. Hearth This is the scent of candied chestnuts, buttered, covered in brown sugar and honey, alongside the scent of cedar smoke and soft pine. I hate Hearth, it's sickly sweet and smokey.   My favorites of the bunch are Snow White and Dargon's Moon, so the list is going from favorite to hated. Bunny Musk is nice but the Musk is overpowering the whole scent, sadly. Musk tends to go very strong on me, apparently.   The ones I want: Alice Milk and honey with rose, carnation and bergamot. White Rabbit Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen. Dana O'Shee Offerings of milk, honey and sweet grains. Persephone Pomegranate and rose.   I think I originally didn't order those because they fade so fast on me. But having aged for two years, White Rabbit is almost overpowering me at the moment. Beautiful. I had Alice on my wrist yesterday evening, but it stayed very faint, sadly. I cannot find my imp of Dana O'Shee - I know I loved the smell but I also know that it always made me crave Marzipan. I don't like to smell like food too much. Persephone is going to be tried later. My problem with the scents is that they all smell very alike so if I want to use perfume and have to chose one they all seem the same to me. Except for Persephone, which is fruity. I don't like it as much as the other scents so if I was to eliminate one of them, it would be her - but she is so different that it would be stupid. At the moment, everytime I want something fresh, fruity for hot days, I take Dragon Moon.   Without having smelled them: LILITH VICTORIA Snake Oil blended with Dorian, plus soft vanilla flower, lily of the valley, lavender, and fennel. THE GLADDENER OF ALL HEARTS Honeyed milk, baby powder, lavender, orris root, sage, carnation, angelica, frankincense, and rose otto. I don't think we have to talk about them, I want to get both and I'm positive that I'm going to love them. Neither Dorian nor Snake Oil were favorites of mine - but mixing them seems a sure way to create a gorgeous perfume. Plus lavender? I'm sold. Additionally, the medicinical note I always got from Snake Oil is gone after aging, it smells REALLY nice now. I'm starting to sniffing my wrist more and more - wow, everytime I take a sniff I like it even more. Who knew aging could have such an effect?! Gladdener of hearts has all I love: Milk, Baby Powder, carnation, Rose - I need to have it! I does sound a bit like Alice - so maybe I should leave Alice out? I love Alice, but I tried her yesterday and she disappointed me a bit by being very faint.   I have Snake Oil and White Rabbit on my wrist since maybe 30 minutes now - and White Rabbit is almost gone, after starting out very strong. Ugh! Persephone is a nice rose. I think I'm definitely get her, even thought she is almost faded after 10 minutes as well. So, what about Alice, Dana and White Rabbit? White Rabbit is preferred to Alice - it was my very first BPAL and even thought it fades fast at least it's much stronger on first application than Alice. I can't remember anything about Dana... I calculated my total when I was ordering all of them, without leaving any of them out. The total is so high (gulp) that I wonder if the 15$ for one 5ml I could leave out isn't a drop into the sea anyway. Hmmm! Advice? I have Snake Oil scent mixed with White Rabbit and Persephone in my nose... yumm.

The very first entry

You know I thought that I had overcome my addiction. As you can see I'm already a member since 2005 but for the last two years I never even visited the BPAL homepage anymore. I still use my BPALs occasionally, but I didn't give it a second thought. I don't know why this is changing now, though?   For starters, here are the bottles I own (current list is here)   Regular scents: Dragon's Milk Antique Lace   Limited Editions - Yule 2005 Hearth Snow White April's Fool 2006: Enraged Bunny Musk   Lunacy 2006: Dragon's Moon   I have a stash of Imps here, that I never gave a second thought to. But now I wonder why I never bought my favorite scents but the ones listed above instead. I absolutely adore White Rabbit, Alice, Persephone and Dana O'Shee but never got around buying them. Why? I think I got distracted by all those LEs. I think I should mend that now. I'm sure there are other scents I love but never considered buying, I need to dig out my spreadsheet.   I've always had a problem with the scents fading too fast on me, which might be because of the kind of scents I like (the light, sweet, floral ones) - they don't have as much staying power as others do. I think that's sad because if I like a scent I want to smell it all the time without having to stick my nose to my wrist.   So - welcome back to the addiction, I guess.

Halloweenie Switch Witch random questions v3.0

Do you expect/rely on other people to plans birthday outings and activities? Absolutely not. I've learned that the key to not being disappointed on my birthday is to have very low expectations. I don't go out on my birthday. Even this past one when one of my coworkers (who has the same birthday) was going out and a large group of work people were supposed to be going, I didn't go. Every time I try to go out on my birthday it ends up with me in a bar drinking by myself. The only thing I expect on my birthday is a phone call from my mother.   What’s your ringtone? I've got 5 custom ringtones on my iPhone right now. They're all in use for various things. New Slang is my general ringtone and the others are specific to various people.   Gone For Good Muscle Museum New Slang Supermassive Black Hole The District Sleeps Alone   What's your favorite animal? I like cats. Big ones. Like tigers and panthers. I also like polar bears and penguins. I like them a lot. Birds are really good too. Especially the big ones and the brightly coloured ones. I'm also rather fond of bats.   What one (or two, if you really must) BPAL bottles are you most longing for? I would really love another bottle of Hellhound. More time appropriate, I would love a bottle of Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo and a bottle of Hell's Belle. I know they're general catalogue and I could order them at any time, and that's probably why I just don't. Most of my BPAL budget goes to Current LE's and Lunacies that I want when they're up, and old LE's/Lunacies that I want and/or love when they're available on the forum. But those are probably my 2 favourite GC blends and I usually only have a very small amount of them at any given time.   If you could have dinner/drinks/coffee with any 3 living people that are not your family/friends already, who would they be? Bill Maher, Tom Robbins, and Jensen Ackles (because he's sooo hot!) I'm sure Bill would keep the conversation alive, Tom was really great when I met him at a reading/book signing several years ago and I would love to talk with him again, and Jensen Ackles will be there for the purdy (not that I wouldn't enjoy talking to him, too... but Bill tends to dominate with talking).   If you could bring back any TV show from cancellation what would it be? I can only pick one? Seriously? I'd have to flip a coin to choose between Veronica Mars and Firefly (and that would have to be a pre-Serenity Firefly because otherwise I probably won't watch). *sigh* I really miss Gilmore/Mars Tuesdays.   I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? I love fleece throws! but they have to be plain edged, no fringe of any sort, my cat will eat them. Literally.   What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? kettle cooked potato chips, ohsogood!   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? If there is something on my wishlist that I'm able to swap for or purchase at reasonable cost, I probably won't pass it up. Most of my wishlist is likely to be outside the realm of my Witch (although I did just add a selection of GC Imps I want to try) I don't expect any bottles or rares and anything on my wishlist I'm likely to like and am not likely to be upset by having more of it. I am actually going to compile a larger list of BPAL I've tested or sniffed that I know I don't like, so pretty much anything that isn't on that list (and isn't vanilla or lavender) I mind being able to test and if I've already tested it and it isn't on that list it means I don't hate it. I really hope that made sense. It's been a long hard day and I've not been sleeping well.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? No. I used to wear Disney watches (nice one's with leather bands, not the kiddie style big plastic ones) but I haven't worn a watch in years. I always have my iPhone with me, and I use that for time knowing.   How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? Yes, that sounds awesome! Animal rescue or fine arts organizations would be preferred, but any non-profit that does good work is okay with me.   What is your favorite art movement and/or style? ie impressionist, surrealist, art nouveau, etc. I really love impressionist paintings, and also post impressionism, and most expressionist art, well, most art in general. Except Cezanne, I don't like his work at all.   Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I have an iPhone 3G, and it does need a case. I also have a Canon SD630 Digital Elph that does not currently have a case and is showing signs of wear from being left in my purse in an uncushioned manner.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? I like them both. Some teas are just more convenient bagged... peppermint, sweet dreams, chai, etc. but I do like my regular black, green, and white teas loose. My tea pot can be used for either, and it is used for both on a daily basis.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? Yes, it sure does. Last year, for instance, we got 100 inches of snow dumped on us. The set I used last year (hat, gloves, and scarf) is still in pretty good shape so I could use them again this year... but if my Witch was so inclined as to replace them... a bright colour that would contrast with my black coat would be lovely   Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? Moryssa and fireweaver are friends of mine IRL, and both could answer questions. In fact, fireweaver would be eager to ask me for answers to your questions for you. She's devilish sneaky.   Just to throw a silly question out there...Munsters or Addams Family, y'all? I liked them both. Addams' Family slightly more.   What think you about receiving tea accessories and/or miscellany (like mugs, cups, saucers, strainers/filters, honey, natural sweeteners [like stevia])? I really don't need any filters or strainers. I love the Quotable Mugs, I've got three and they're fantastic! I dropped one on my floor and it didn't break! I do like Stevia, I have a bottle of the liquid, but I don't like to sweeten my tea and it's not strong enough for coffee, the powder has lactose listed in the ingredients and I can't ever figure out why so I never use it. I do love honey and use it in my coffee, though I do prefer local honey.   How do you feel about copies of music or dvd's that your witch might have that you might enjoy? Not just mixes, but whole copies? I'm good with that   Tarts? Yes/no? sure   I'm wondering if my witchee would like to try these types of things (like the caramel with sea salts or chocolates with chilis/bacon/salt etc.)? yes please! I really like chocolate with chili and salty caramels are sooo good!   My questionnaire is chock-a-block with ideas for Witching me on the cheap, and without sending "stuff for stuff's sake". And I just came up with another one--make me a Pandora, Finetune, or Last.fm station you think I might like! What manner of affordable Witchery might you covet? Anything that's likely to be something I'd enjoy   Does your cell phone have a place to attach charms? nope

More from today

If you could bring back any TV show from cancellation what would it be? Oh gosh...JERICHO@#~!@~@~# What else? What was that show that was set in FL and - Invasion? I think. I'm sure there are others but those popped to mind quickly.   I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? Sure.   What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? Sweets. Lately, Ben & Jerry's. Have you read the label? Don't...   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? I'm not planning on it, but you never know. If I did I would be sure to update my wish list.   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? No, I don't wear a watch. They never fit (small wrist) and I find them annoying.   How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? I'm absolutely into that. I'd pick a local shelter (mine is http://ncal.com/) and/or chihuahua rescue group (http://www.yankeechihuahuas.org/). I avoid big groups (www.hsus.org/, www.redcross.org/) and really prefer something local. I feel more $$ gets where it needs to be that way.

Switch Witch Q&A: part the 5th

If you could bring back any TV show from cancellation what would it be? Brimstone, because the concept was really cool and I totally fancied John Glover as the Devil   I wonder if my witchee would like a blanket type thing. Would you? Yes I would, especially if it's a comfort blanket or travel rug type of thing.   What's your favorite "I know it's bad for me but I can't help myself" treat? Probably that fourth cup of coffee I know I really shouldn't be having. I'm addicted, I admit that. Otherwise, perhaps the occasional handful of vegan chocolate buttons   Very important question: Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL and/or other wishlists during the round? Good question My answer is: No, although I may well *add* to the Bpal wishlist when my Halloweenie decants will have arrived. But I'm trying to only buy for my witchee for now!   Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? I rarely remember to wear a watch. If I do, it's a solidly built men's watch with both a clock face (with second hand) and a digital display. It has alarm and stopwatch functions, which I do not know how to use. It's fairly heavy, so that I'm always aware that I'm wearing it.   How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? Honestly it's not something I would have thought of, since I actually prefer to support charities by buying goods from them rather than by donation. (Because I seriously disagree with the way certain charities allow their 'paid volunteers' to earn commission from the donations that they solicit!) Some charities I would be happy for a donation in my name to go to would be: women's refuge centres; animal rescue centres that do not put old/unwanted animals to death; charities promoting the study of Classical Latin; Catholic charities; Interfaith organisations. Personally, I would *not* want a donation to be made in my name to any charity that funds medical research, due to various ethical issues.   What is your favorite art movement and/or style? ie impressionist, surrealist, art nouveau, etc. It's more of a transitionary period in the history of art than a self-contained movement, but I love the early Italian Renaissance (especially Florentine). I like how the art of this period aims at blending idealism and realism like the art of Classical times, while still using the elegant stylised figures of the late Gothic style. It's unique and beautiful, and somehow completely authentic to the function of the art. In general, Renaissance and pre-Renaissance art fascinates me because so much symbolism is contained in the imagery of the paintings, sculpture, and architectural forms of the period. It amazes me how much information is in them, and I find it wonderful that back in the 14th/15th centuries, the people who looked at these paintings were able to 'read' the stories in them as easily as we would read a book today. *is a secret art history geek*   Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I don't have a case for my ipod. It's never especially occurred to me to want one, but actually it's a pretty good idea. If my witch wants to make/buy a case, I'd strongly prefer a knit/felt/fabric one. I choose not to have real leather/suede and I usually don't like the way the fake ones feel to the touch. I can't find my ipod right now to measure it, but I can tell you it's a (really old) 4GB ipod mini (the original mini version, not the 2nd generation mini).   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose If I'm feeling snobbish, I'll insist that loose is better. On the other hand, I hate picking tea leaves out of the pot or the mesh filter. I've started using those empty sachets that you put the loose tea into, and I love them! But I do also have ordinary bagged teas for everyday, anytime drinking.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? I live in England. We have some notorious seasonal weather changes. Right now we've got alternating warm and chilly days, and the rain we've been having is due to continue all the way through next week. Some parts of the country are flooded, but not where I am. Winters over here are indeed cold. January/February brings the worst freezing spells. And yes! I'd love any item with insulating properties (General note: I have short fingers, so can only wear fingerless gloves/mittens!)   Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? Don't really know anyone on the forum.

More SW questions!

It's roughly as hot as hell here and I'm not getting any work done at all... so... time for more SW questions!   ***9/5*** Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? Nope! My husband is a huge ol' watch nerd, so I have a couple of nice-ish watches, but I never ever think to wear them. Part of the issue is that I spend about 90% of my waking life in front of a computer (yay grad school), and I find it very distracting to have something noteworthy on my wrist while I type.   The only watch I've ever been able to wear consistently was a dopey pink Power Puff Girls watch that my mom loaned me for a period of several years. It stopped dead in the middle of the AP Physics exam just to spite me. Alas.   How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? This is a wonderful idea! There are so so so many good things to donate money to as well. Here're just a couple of places I stand way the hell behind: Planned Parenthood Project Bread (Massachusetts) SOS Children's Villages Doctors Without Borders Burners Without Borders (jeez, I hate borders!) Covenant House (I'z not a Christian, but I have huge respect for their work) Habitat for Humanity (likewise) Joseph's House (in DC. This is yet another Christian organization, but this one is extra special to me in that a friend of mine is a full time volunteer there. It's a long term hospice for otherwise homeless people dying of terminal illnesses.) Farm Sanctuary ASPCA   I'd be psyched to have you donate in my name if you wanted to, but if you do want to donate somewhere, I beg you NOT to donate to PETA. I really, really, really do not like PETA and believe that they are overall detrimental to the animal rights movement. Seriously.   ***9/4*** Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? I've got a teeny tiny ipod-- one of the nanos from back before they got all chunky and gross looking. (No offense to the zaftig ipod lovers out there.) It already has a variety of storage socks.   I don't have good cases for either of my two favorite cameras, but they are both pretty big (a Pentax K1000 film SLR and a Pentax K10D digital SLR) so I'm not sure how feasible making/finding a nice case for them would be.   For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? Loose, but I'll definitely drink bagged too. I'm not too choosy.   Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? YES. One of the most common misconceptions about California is that we have no weather here. We have weather in my part of the state! Winter is cold and rainy, and look... they don't call me coldandsleepy for nothin'. I am ALWAYS cold, even here... thus I'm totally receptive to warm weather gear. I'm particularly hot for hats and socks, but I'd never say no to scarves or mittens.   Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? strangemodegirl is definitely your best bet-- I know her IRLz, AND she knows my husband. Plus she's a kinda sneaky lady and I wouldn't be at all surprised if she agreed to snoop for you.   My witch from last round, cuervosueno, also has an EXCELLENT grasp on what I like... so I bet you could pick her brain too if needed.

Again with the Questions

***8/29*** What would you tell yourself 6 months in the past about 2008 so far? Float with the fish. Just float. (bonus points if you recognize the quote!)   If you had one minute of fame, what would you do/say in the spotlight? Freeze in terror, probably.   Robots versus zombies: who wins? The vampires of course!   What would zombie say? ???   Where are a few of your favorite places? Eureka Springs, AR (There are so many old hippies there that they've organized and taken the place over.) Venice Beach, CA (I spent 10 days in CA when I was 19 and have never stopped wanting to go back. The Venice boardwalk was the highlight of the trip.)   Out of curiosity, all the fall babies who are celebrating their birthdays during the round - who are you, and when is your bday? Not me.   What is one (only one) object that you collect, that totally goes against your personality or beliefs? Whose version of my personality is under discussion here?   Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? I love soaps that are really moisturizing. I appreciate advanced warning if the lather will be an odd color, but as long as I'm expecting it, it's totally fine. My scent preferences in soap are the same as for everything else. Make me smell like a hippy.   Do you like kilts and would you wear one? Yes, and yes.   BoiWitches? Question for you both.....Hath any of thou own a Kilt? not a boi   What's your favorite book? Um, see answer to "favorite poet"   What size socks do you wear? How about hat size? I like the smaller size ladies socks when I can find them, but most regular socks are just fine after a trip through the laundry. Some I do pass up because they look like they will always be too long. I have no idea about my hat size, but when I tried on crazy hats at the Halloween Express the other day, most seemed to fit fine.   Do you read comics? Which ones do you love and which can't you stand? Not normally, but I read the review of Polyglot & Spleen in the new Gothic Beauty and simply must have it. I suspect anything similar would be a hit as well.   Symbols that are meaningful to me? Spirals, gosh, I'm blank right now.   By nature are you a morning lark or a night owl? Neither, really. I take a while to wake up in the morning, and it's a real tribute to the people I'm with if I don't turn into a pumpkin at midnight or before.   What's your favorite type of music to hear live, rather than recorded? Trans-Siberian Orchestra. We see them every year.   What is your favorite autumnal-seasonal drink? apple cider, hot cocoa (preferably white chocolate)   ***8/30*** Do you knit/crochet? Do you need any supplies? No. If it involves yarn, I am made of fail.   Who here has an etsy shop? not I   What are your two favorite etsy shops? Hmmm.....I don't know.   Are you active on any other boards/forums? If so please specify where and your username there. About the time I was starting to feel at home in the Radish Room (Kris Radish fansite) I started getting an error message every time I tried to log in.   ***8/31*** What is everyone's favorite Halloween song?! How about a whole CD? Dead Man's Party by Oingo Boingo   How many of mah fellow witchies play video games? Platform? Do you like used games? I am severely button challenged. Once video games progressed beyond a joystick and a fire button, I was done. I would like to get Bejeweled for my Palm eventually.   What kind of music (genres, please) do you like? My taste is pretty diverse. I wish I could just give you a list of what's in my Windows Media Player, but I can't figure out a way to print or copy/paste or anything.   Have any of you ever received a book from a Witchy and loved it so much you ended up buying a copy for a later Witchee? Yup. Dracula's Diary.   What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? If my witchy is an eyeshadow addict, I would totally love some help with this.   Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? Any of the above. Just don't want the ZOMGZ LOOK AT HER LIPS look.   What are some of the SW gifts/finds from past rounds (or you can just name a gift in general that you found for someone if this is your first round!) that you are the most proud of in terms of your sleuthing skills? Hmmm....dunno about sleuthing skillz, but one gift I remember fondly was my first round -- Spring 07. For April Fools Day, the admins changed the forum skin to this pink sparkly candy coated confection that hurt everyone's eyes. to commemorate the event, I sent my witchee a bright pink unicorn My Little Pony.   And, secondly, what is something you've been searching for but just can't find? Batteries for my pedometer! Seriously, why do they make so many different sizes of those little flat ones? I think it's a conspiracy to get us to just get another gadget.

More SW random questions answered...

What would you tell yourself 6 months in the past about 2008 so far? It'll just get better and better, all the hard work and enduring the painful and difficult stuff will most definitely pay off!   If you had one minute of fame, what would you do/say in the spotlight? I would probably panic a little and say something strange.   Robots versus zombies: who wins? Zombies.   What would zombie say? Nothing, they would just stalk silently.   Where are a few of your favorite places? The little woods by the sea where I spent my childhood summers, Stockholm in the summer, Greenwich (in London), and my home because it's very "me" and I've made it into my own little sanctuary.   What is one (only one) object that you collect, that totally goes against your personality or beliefs? I don't know if it goes against my beliefs really but I really like sheep - little soft toy sheep, sheep mugs, sheep stickers...   Are you a soap addict? Anything you like to avoid in soaps (goat's milk, lye, dyes, etc...) or any particular scents you like or brands you want to try? I don't have a huge soap stash (nothing like my BPAL stash!) but I do love nice soaps. I don't avoid anything in them but prefer handmade stuff. Some of my favourites are Arcana's soaps and BPTP Snake Oil soap. Lush is good, too, except I don't really like their Honey I Washed The Kids, it just doesn't feel as nice as some others.   Do you like kilts and would you wear one? It wouldn't really be my style but I do have some other tartan skirts (kind of Vivianne Westwood style) that I wear and like.   What's your favorite book? There is no simple answer to this! I recently read Angela Carter's The Magical Toyshop and loved it, my guilty pleasure is Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta books, I also loved Harry Potter...   What size socks do you wear? How about hat size? Sock size is UK 4 or EUR 37, I'm afraid I don't know what that is in US sizes... Hat size - I think I have a fairly large head.   Do you read comics? Which ones do you love and which can't you stand? No, not really into them.   Symbols that are meaningful to me? I really love the Wiccan triple moon.   By nature are you a morning lark or a night owl? Night owl most definitely.   What's your favorite type of music to hear live, rather than recorded? Tori Amos is amazing both live and recorded.   What is your favorite autumnal-seasonal drink? Tea but I like that every season. Hot chocolate.   Crossword puzzles? Other pencil puzzles? Maybe... I'm not really into them but don't hate them, either.   Favorite artist? Gustav Klimt   Favorite poet? Sylvia Plath   Halloween. Do you like it kooky or creepy? Both but not too creepy. Bats, cats and skulls rather than blood.   Reserved or Raunchy? Usually reserved but there's definitely a raunchy side to me, too...   Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? Hopefully a healthy mixture of all.   Tea or Coffee in the morning? Never coffee. I don't usually have a hot drink in the morning, tea is for drinking during the day and in the evening. Mornings are for a nice glass of juice.   Fruity snacks or chocolate? Both. But I do really love chocolate, even though I'm trying to be good and not have so much...   Would you accept art? Absolutely.   Antiques or Brand New? Both are fine, depends in what context.   What keywords do you use when searching for items for yourself on Etsy? Lately: witch, wicca, pagan, perfume, soap, cat, fairy, goth.

SW random questions!

Are there any of y'all who are allergic/sensitive to having natural fibers on your skin? No allergies here. As long as it's not scratchy and itchy - like some fibers can be if worn next to skin.   What was your favorite ghost/scary/campfire story growing up? I don't remember any, although I remember watching a tv show where a bunch of kids would sit around a campfire and tell each other stories.   Bugs? Do you like 'em or not? Nooo! I'm really scared of spiders, and of most other bugs for that matter. I like bees, though, as images at least... I really want to get my next tattoo - a bee on my ankle.   i haz no imp storage. do you? I do, I do! I have 3 blue ammo cases (100 slots in each) - they're not all full, but one houses my GC imps, one has LE and other special decants, and one has other etailers' samples.   If you have a garden/planter box, what do you grow? I don't have a garden but I really want to start growing herbs (both for cooking and magick) on the kitchen window. I'm not sure autumn/winter is the best time for it, though.   Do you decorate for Halloween? What sort of decorations? Dress up for Halloween? I haven't decorated before but I'm really into Halloween this year and I finally have my own flat so I think this is a good year to start! I dressed up as a Witch last year.   Bats, cats, skeletons, monsters, vampires, witches or what other ghoulies do you prefer? Cats for sure, and bats, witches, skulls... it's all good in fact!   Do you like horror flicks? Not really, no.   Who here prefers stylus and ink to ballpoint? Anyone invested time and effort into calligraphy or proper Victorian writing? I love fountain pens but usually just go for felt tip or ballpoint for the convenience.   What about stationery? Need some? What styles do you like? I'm not a big letter writer but I like notepads I can use for writing notes to go with swaps etc. I also like notecards. Nothing overly cute or girly, please. Cats, fairies, dark roses - that sort of thing would be cool. There are some examples on my Etsy wishlist.   What is one item that you've wanted forever, could have afforded, but have never gotten and why (haven't you gotten it!)? I've been lusting after a red patchwork wall hanging for a long time (or a purple one, for that matter!) - it's not that I can't afford it as such but more that it seems so crazy to spend a lot of money on something that essentially is just going to hang on a wall when I could spend the money on shoes or perfume instead...   What Halloween scent are you most looking forward to? Katrina van Tassel, definitely. And I've never tried Samhain before, so that, although I suspect it might not work on me...   Tattoos! Do you have em? Do you want em? Whatcha got or getting? I have a simple star on my lower back. I really want to add to it somehow - perhaps a small star on the side, or add some shading. My plans for the next two are a bee on my ankle (from Tori Amos 'Sweet The Sting' lyrics that say "wisdom comes with the sting") and the Wiccan triple moon symbol either on my wrist or on my back. If my Witch is artistic, the most amazing gift you could give me would be the draw a bee I could get tattooed on me! Seriously. I want something fairly simple, not cutesy, black and white. I've planned that tattoo for years, I've just been waiting for the right image.   Reduce - REUSE - recycle. Do others feel the same? Absolutely. I buy a lot of clothes used and definitely recycle whatever I can. I also try to buy fairtrade, local and organic whenever possible. I do love fun little things and random Halloween things but please don't feel you should buy something like that for me - I'm trying to cut back on random clutter. I'd prefer something small from my Etsy wishlist over a mass produced plastic knick knack any day.   What is your favorite crafting supply? Beads! Glass, gemstone and wood beads. I will also always have a use for ribbons, lace and fabric flowers.   Any period of time that you love? Victorian. I dream of living in a Victorian house one day - that's quite a realistic goal considering there are loads of them in London!

Reviews of the new GCs

Some reviews of the new GCs...   from Doc Constantine's Pharmacopoeia   Slippery Poppy Tincture poppy flowers, acai berry and honey   Wet: Very 'green' and fresh floral - I think that's the poppies mixing with the acai berry as there's something a bit similar, sharp than in Australian Copperhead. I'm not really getting any honey out of this at all. Too 'fresh' and 'green' for me. The longer it sits on my skin, the more I'm actually starting to dislike it.     Stimulating Sassafras Strengthener sassafras, vanilla extract, oak, leaf, CO2 butter extract, and onycha   Something quite medicinal - almost like menthol, or the smell of a cough syrup! I get some of the sweetness of the vanilla mellowing it down, too. It's interesting but not something I would wear as a perfume at all. It's also quite masculine.   from Phoenix Steamworks   Galvanic Goggles Metallic notes with Indian musk, tobacco flower, and African balsam.   Pleasant - quite masculine - the metallic notes always translate to me as something quite fresh and manly. Not something I could imagine myself wearing but definitely a nice, pleasant scent.     No. 93 Engine Balm of Gilead, benzoin, frankincense, balsam of peru, beeswax, saffron, galbanum, calamus, hyssop, mastic, lemon balm, and white sage.   Deep, spicy. Reminds me a lot of some of the "God incense" we use at Wiccan rituals, I think it's the galbanum I'm picking up on? This is definitely a nice scent but again something that evokes quite a masculine image in my mind so I don't imagine I would wear this myself.     The Obsidian Widow Pinot noir, dark myrrh, red sandalwood, black patchouli, night-blooming jasmine, and attar of rose.   Definitely the red wine at first. I'm also noticing the jasmine because it's the note of doom... As it all settles, it's actually very pleasant and quite a 'classic perfume' smelling. Classy and sophisticated, not an every day scent but something for special occasions. So far my definite favourite out of these.     The Robotic Scarab Polished metallic notes, glossy leather, frankincense, star anise, and thin lubricating oils.   Once again the metallic notes scream 'masculine' to me. I don't get much of the leather but I sense it's there, as a base. Notes-wise not something I would pick up for myself but not unpleasant in any way.     Smokestack Creosote, coal, and industrial waste.   Oh yes, hello vetiver! I can't even skin test this. Bleurgh.     Violet Ray White mint, purple musk, violet, lilac, ylang ylang, lavender moss, and sandalwood.   Very floral - I think it's the violets and lilacs I'm getting so overpoweringly. Not me at all - just an average floral scent, not very pleasant. I seem to have a problem with 'fresh' smelling florals.

Answers to questions :)

Okies Switch Witch - the answers I promised     My kiddo loves anime/manga - Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Don't worry, I don't know them either. I remember when it was as easy as Bleach and Death Note (he's telling me he likes those ones still too). He plays WoW, Team Fortress 2, and has a Wii. He's very excited about buying Spore when it comes out next week.   The hubby loves Futurama, Jon Stewart (who ALWAYS makes him giggle), Dungeons and Dragons (and other rpgs) and hockey. He's a Montreal Canadians fan.   Hm as for me...I love to have things to hang on my walls - esp. art prints and photographs. Love interesting postcards. My walls are far far far too bare. I read Tarot cards - I use 3 decks - Brian Froud's Faery Oracle, The J Swiss and the Goddess Tarot. I also dowse. And I'm awful good at it I am very into figuring out home decorating right now - love HGTV   And dear Witchy - I feel badly writing all of those things down, because I absolutely don't want you think that I except ANY of this stuff! I'm always so torn about writing this stuff down because I don't ever want to seem greedy

'Weenie08 SW Random Q Answers

Hey, I’m just gonna skip any questions which I don’t find relevant (meaning they’d give no useful info to a Witch one way or the other) and anything that I feel was adequately covered elsewhere. Do feel free to ask if I’ve left out something that you would like to know!   Happy to get stuff from etailers I haven’t mentioned (assuming that it otherwise falls into the stuff-I-might-like category)! Perhaps I just haven’t heard of them yet!   Do you have an esty shop? Nope! What are your two favorite etsy shops? There’s too much awesome variety to pick. Do you knit/crochet? Do you need any supplies? I do not. I “know how” to knit, but haven’t the patience for more than a few rows. Do you like lip balm? If so, do you like tinted, glossy, sparkly, pearly or just plain lip balm? Love it all. I’m not always happy with the “flavors” because they can seem so juvenile, but it’s not enough to stop me buying/using/enjoying flavored glosses! Naturally, anything flavored with a flavor I don’t like – viz., coffee or watermelon – is out. Love glitter and shiny. What kinds of eye shadows do we all like? My favoravoravorite is Urban Decay. I would probably like MAC but haven’t tried any video games? platform? do you like used games? We have an XBox 360, but don’t play a heck of a lot. We have all the Guitar Heros and Rock Band 1; those are our favorites. We have a few other games (Marvel Alliance, The Order of the Phoenix, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, The Simpsons …). What we don’t have and would like to try are some of the hand-to-hand combat games. Used is great! Have any of you ever received a book from a Witchy and loved it so much you ended up buying a copy for a later Witchee? No, but I could see this happening. Love books, love to share them. Bandaids: do you like the fun and funky ones? Yes! English candy/tea/marmite or other stuff that you love and can't easily get outside of England? I don’t know of anything in particular, but I’ll try anything. Fanfic as a gift - yay or nay? Your fandom? Slash preferences? Sure! I’m not anti-slash, but I’m not big on romance of any kind being the main purpose of the story: I like action, danger, fighting, or some sort of mystical quest or event. Fandoms: Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes, Star Trek, any Joss Whedon, any Marvel Universe, Beastmaster, Tarzan, Are you a Trekkie? If so, which series do you prefer? Do you have a favorite character? Big fan (though not a convention-goer). I have to give the nod to The Next Generation for favorite. Favorite character is more of a challenge, but I’m going to go with Odo. Who here is a complete, over the top, Alice in Wonderland fanatic? Definitely not over-the-top. I enjoyed the books, and appreciate why there are over-the-top fans. Just hasn’t hit me that way. How do people feel about receiving baked goods/kits to make said goods? Or other cooking items? Would you enjoy oil or vinegar flavored with herbs grown at home? Strange and exotic spices with recipes to try? Cookies made with carnation petals? I don’t cook much. A kit might be fun. Also, don’t use a lot of oil. Carnation petal cookies, now – the best baklava I have ever had was made by a 17-year-old Armenian girl I worked with; she used carnation syrup instead of honey – made the syrup herself from carnation petals, wow. And I’ve never had or seen anything with carnation since. I’d love to try them. How do you scent yourself? Do you layer soaps, moisturizers, etc. or do you go straight to slathering your bod with BPAL? Even BPAL is mostly for going out. There are many scent-sensitives here at work (myself among them) so we try to keep aromas to a minimum. I’m not much for layering; If I’ve used a scented bath product or lotion, I usually let it wane rather than adding another scent. Do you/how do you scent your world? Candles, incense, diffusers, potpourri? None of the above? The occasional candle to set a romantic or festive mood. What movie soundtracks (or scores) do you love? Checking the iPod … I’ve got a Godzilla collection (comprising selections from six or seven movies); Hedwig and the Angry Inch (though I’m finding I don’t love just-the-soundtrack as much as I did the movie); Anastasia (the animated version); songs from The Jungle Book, Lady & The Tramp, The Little Mermaid; and TV shows, too: Rome, Dexter, The Tudors, Buffy, Sherlock Holmes, The Simpsons . . . Every once in a while I think about putting Camelot and Kismet on there, but haven’t gotten around to it. See, again with the broad taste! What manner of affordable Witchery might you covet? Anything homemade, used, regifted, a kind word, Leaving this whole statement in for context!! Also, a question. I [cyphersushi] make cellphone charms from glass beads and I was wondering if people would be interested to have them sent to their witches? I want to send one to my own and the only way I can be sneaky is if other withees are also getting small packages from sweden The way I hope it would work is of people send me money for shipping (not much since they are so small) and maybe a donation towards materials I make and send out danglies. I would put a limit of 10 or so to not be in over my head. Would this be interesting for people? Am I making sense? If this is something my Witch would like to get for me, I’d love one, and my phone can take it. I have a Skelanimals on there right now. Who are your forum buddies? People you know well enough online or IRL to help your Witch pick out stuff for you? GypsyRoseRed and SueDonym. Also, contact my husband (not a forumite) at campscott@earthlink.net if you want/need input or conspiracy from him! Does the weather change where you are, as in, does it get cold in the winter? Anyone need homegrown scarves, hats, mittens, etc? Not much change here in Los Angeles. It gets a little cooler, but can just as easily heat up again. 80s in October is not unusual. What is your favorite art movement and/or style? Love Pre-Raphaelites, “Flemish” (Van Dyke, Breugel, Bosch), Rembrandt and Dürer (especially etching or drawing, as opposed to painting) Do you have a case for your mp3 player/digital camera? If you would want one, what size is your digital device? My iPod is pretty well-dressed. However, if my Witch ran across a fun, interesting, or otherwise perfect-gift of a case, I would welcome it lovingly – the iPod’s a Video Classic. For tea drinkers, do you bag it or prefer loose? I enjoy both. Plenty of capability to use loose. How do you feel about having a donation made in your name to something? If you like that idea, what types of organizations/groups would you want the donation to go to? This is always welcome!! I mentioned a few of my favorite organizations on my questionnaire. Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue ( http://www.donkeyrescue.org/ ) is another. Your local wildlife rehabilitation center would also be a good choice. Do you wear a watch? If so, what kind/style? My day-to-day watch is a blue and silver Timex Expedition, and it desperately needs a new strap. If you could have dinner/drinks/coffee with any 3 living people that are not your family/friends already, who would they be? Um … Thich Nhat Hanh, Ivanka Trump, Temple Grandin. Oh! Re: office supplies, I should have mentioned that I love “mini” stuff – tiny staplers, pens, hole punch … they don’t last as long, but they sure are cute!! Tattoos! Do you have em? Do you want em? Whatcha got or getting? Three so far, more planned. Lizard on my ankle; sunburst (half Egyptian, half Modern) on my foot; wedding ring (no picture). Next, an Anpu (better known by the Greek name of Anubis) on my right outer high-ankle; eventually, I’ll get a Djehuty (better known by the Greek name of Thoth) on the inside. All my tattoos are my own design, with the artist having some artistic freedom. Might get the Anpu next week in Vegas, but I’ll probably be too busy. What about the halloween scents? What ones are people loving? Craving? Have tried, want to try? , etc... Or any Halloween-ish or autumn scents from other sites your dying for?? The pumpkin and apple scents don’t appeal, but there’s so much more variety this year! For sure I’ll be getting Graveyard Dirt 08, The Goblin Rider, The School-House, and The Witching Time of Night. I’m interested in Day of the Skulls, The Death of Autumn, Meditation in Autumn, but hope to sniff them before deciding (I have got to stop just ordering stuff !!) What is one item that you've wanted forever, could have afforded, but have never gotten and why (haven't you gotten it!)? Nothing specific comes to mind. I often talk myself out of something for one reason or another (often because I’m too lazy to go get it). This is a great question, though! Who here prefers stylus and ink to ballpoint? Anyone invested time and effort into calligraphy or proper Victorian writing? My father was a professional artist (draughtsman at the time I knew him, but he also did cartooning), and when I was little and he was teaching me, we used nib-pens and ink. So I’m fairly facile with them, but really prefer free-flowing barrel ink pens (mmm, Sakuras!). What about stationery? Need some? What styles do you like? I’m afraid I’m not much of a letter writer. Who doesn’t love pretty papers!?! But I don’t need any. Do you decorate for Halloween? At home, only if we’re having a party (and we’ve had some fun ones!). Actually, I take that back. I have been meaning to decorate my bathroom thematically – and thereby develop a discipline of storing the little items by holiday instead of stuck in this or that drawer or box. Maybe I’ll start with this Hallowe’en!! At work, I usually put up a plastic pumpkin or two and maybe a bat garland. For witches who love Halloween and decorate for it, when do you start and when do you take it down? I’m thinking to start on the 1st Oct and tear down on the 5th Nov. Bats, cats, skeletons, monsters, vampires, witches or what other ghoulies do you prefer? I love ‘em all! Soft spot for mummies, of course. And werewolves because they are just misunderstood doggies. And skeletons because I love bones. Do you dress up? I used to dress up every year, work or not, only person there in costume or not, but it gradually fell by the wayside (especially as laboratory-safe costumes can be tricky!) Hubby and I both love to do costumes, though, and will leap eagerly at any party invite. Do you like horror flicks? Yes. I’ve nothing against the slasher type, and there’ve been a few good ones, but in general I like best the Universal classics and the Hammer Films stuff. And all the Vincent Price stuff. If you have a garden/planter box, what do you grow? We have a patio, but it’s hard to keep stuff alive out there. Tricky combination of light and heat exposure. We’re planning to redo the patio with some statuary, rocks, maybe some cacti. What incense scents do you prefer? Not a big incense fan. How is your bottle/imp storage situation? Getting pretty tight. I have bottles in cardboard divider boxes which originally held glass vials here in the lab where I work; imps are in ammo boxes, with space to grow in each box, but I’m out of empties. Everything is in a couple of dresser drawers in the bedroom. What was your favorite ghost/scary/campfire story growing up? Of the make-em-jump variety, I didn’t really do those. Of scary/creepy stories in general, the onese I reread and reread as a child were: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, anything by Poe, So Once Was I by K.M. Peyton, and a short story called “God Grante That She Lye Stille” by Cynthia Asquith. Bugs? do you like 'em or not? Love insects and spiders of all varieties, especially spiders and scorpions. Fiber allergies/sensitivities? No. What keywords do you use when searching for items for yourself on Etsy? Hmm. Depends on what I’m looking for, and how much time I have to scroll through the results! Like when I was looking for a wallet, I typed in “wallet”; but for browsing, keywords such as “dog”, “raven”, “maille” … lots of results, but so much great stuff! Halloween. Do you like it kooky or creepy? I feel that the holiday ought to be creepy to honor its lineage, but some of the kooky is too fun to ignore. Reserved or Raunchy? Pretty raunchy. Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? Earth. Tea or Coffee in the morning? Black tea. I cannot stand the aroma or taste of coffee. Fruity snacks or chocolate? Fruity!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would you accept art? I’d love it. The original question requested a sample, but, gosh, I’m just not that picky! And I’m not even judgemental about how “good” something is : I love “folk art”; any heartfelt expression! I do have a particular fondness for pen-and-ink. Antiques or Brand New? Either; love the mystique of antique. Crossword puzzles? Other pencil puzzles? I love ‘em, the ones having to do with words. Numbers are ‘work’ for me and much less fun. Favorite artist? Rembrandt, Dürer, Breugel, Bosch - especially drawings and etchings. I also really like the Pre-Raphaelites in general. Favorite poet? Ernest Dowson What is your favourite autumnal-seasonal drink? I didn’t know there were seasonal drinks. Well, except for Egg Nog, but that’s Winter. Oh! You mean, like, hot mulled cider, right? I don’t hate it, but wouldn’t seek it out. Meaningful symbols Any of my animal totems (see my blog); Pharaonic Egyptian symbology; almost anything naturey Favorite Book I couldn’t possibly name one. What size socks do you wear? My shoe size ranges from ladies 9-10. I have beefy calves, so ladies knee socks generally don’t fit them; not that I wear them very often anyway. How about hat size? Will have to check. Do you read comics? Which ones do you love and which can't you stand? Hubby and I are both big comics readers. I can’t think of any that I can’t stand! We’ll pick up whatever looks interesting – Marvel, DC, Dark Horse … I’m kind of more a Marvel girl (ha! Pun!), but have a soft spot for Batman. My current subscription list at TFAW includes: all the Whedon stuff (Angel Season 6, Buffy Season 8, Serenity), The Incredible Hercules, Mouse Guard, Gargoyles … What's your favorite type of music to hear live, rather than recorded? Ooh, good question! I’m a lot less picky about live music than recorded (and I’m not very picky about recorded music, so … ). I love the immediacy of live music, the interaction with the audience. Also, I have this theory that music is actually a fourth dimension – and you really only get that when it’s performed live. Okay, to try to answer the question: jazz (as broad a “style” as that is). What is one (only one) object that you collect, that totally goes against your personality or beliefs? I love this question … but I don’t have a good answer. I think everything I have does reflect my personality and beliefs – a personality which is a mass of contrasts! I think nothing of watching a shoot-em-up action thriller after an afternoon of shamanic meditation. By nature are you a morning lark or a night owl? The short answer is night owl – but I have trouble staying up very late. My body wants me to go to sleep at 10pm, even if I’ve napped until 8pm. Sigh. Where are a few of your favorite places? London, Luxor, Wisconsin Are you active on any other boards/forums? Not lately. What would you tell yourself 6 months in the past about 2008 so far? Another fun question for which I don’t have a good answer. Maybe, “Get your plane ticket now so you don’t end up flaking and not seeing your Mom until the end of the year.” One minute of fame I’d sing. I love to sing, and have a good voice, but The Terror overtakes me and I freeze. Fall babies Not I – but didn’t we have fun wishing eachother Happies last round? I felt all glowy seeing my own Birthday thread keep popping up with new messages! *wipes tear* My girldog, Gracie, though is an early-Oct Libra; we celebrate on the first and you can be sure I’ll be doing it up big! Soap addict Not so much the soap – I’ve had to really think about new Villainess scents, because I use so little – but I am hoooooooked on Villainess scrubs, and go through them at quite a clip. Kilts Love em! Not really my style, though, so I’d feel awkward. I would love Hubby in one; I wonder if he’d try it?

Which ones do you love and which can't you stand? I love comics for adults. I read the Buffy season 8 one but fell behind since I was paying through the nose to get them delivered to me and they still came a month after they where released since they apperetly put them in a rowingboat across the atlantic with a sickly person rowing. I own up to nr 8 and have read up to 12 I think it is. I also love graphic novels, Sandman is great but i don't own the actual series - only Endless nights and Death: The high cost of living and Death: The time of her life. I also like manga. My SIL is an operasinger and I love listening to her.   What is your favorite autumnal-seasonal drink? I would say hot cocoa or hot tea. Well, I start them with good intent but I don't think I have ever finished one that was not a kiddie version.   Favorite artist? Hmm... hard one. I tend to like individual pieces more than artists. Also I am horrible with names so I don't always remember who made a certain piece I like...   Favorite poet? The one who stands out is The Bard - William Shakespear that is. I don't remember who else who said it but I like it stylish a la Burton as well. So kooky and creepy without the gore I guess...   Reserved or Raunchy? I probably come off as rather reserved in real life - up until I deliver some raunchy comment. In humor I am terribly reserved though - the plays I have written have had a strict "above the belt" policy so therefore I tend to be all chocked when I see below belt humor on stage. Also I think it is the way of easy laughs, but that is just a pet peeve of mine, pay no heed to it.   Earth, Wind, Fire or Water? Wind, definetly. Wind sign person who lives in a city where the air is rarely still (it was for three days the other week and it was freaky!) Not very sensitive as such but rough fabrics/fibres in general are not things I like on my skin.   What was your favorite ghost/scary/campfire story growing up? I was a scaredy cat so I didn't like them at all.   Bugs? Do you like 'em or not? I am not a big fan of them no. Especialy not in food.   i haz no imp storage. do you? I do but it is getting scarily full and the imps keep falling over. I would love to have that box for only bottles and an ammobox or two for the impies.   If you have a garden/planter box, what do you grow? I have a teeny tiny garden that is horribly grown over but I also have a big homebuilt planter box with herbs in it. I have an oilburner and an aromastone though.   Do you decorate for Halloween? What sort of decorations? Dress up for Halloween? Halloween is fairly new as a holiday here so the decorations are limited. I kind of have what I own out all year though I would love to dress up properly but time and money have been limitations in previous years.   Bats, cats, skeletons, monsters, vampires, witches or what other ghoulies do you prefer? I like bats, cats and witches best and a spider or two. And skulls. I have lots and lots of skull things in my home. ETA. And ghosts! Love them ghosties.   Do you like horror flicks? See the ghoststory question about being a scaredy cat as a kid. Nowadays I kinda like them but I am no horrorbuff.   Who here prefers stylus and ink to ballpoint? Anyone invested time and effort into calligraphy or proper Victorian writing? I would love a proper fountain pen. I had a cheap one that broke ages ago and have yet to find a new one. I wouldn't mind trying to write with inkpost and stylus as well. I tried learning calligraphy many years ago but never continued, I recently found teh book I was using though   What about stationery? Need some? What styles do you like? I love stationary and I can get so little here I love cute and gothic stuff but too bright colors can stay home   What is one item that you've wanted forever, could have afforded, but have never gotten and why (haven't you gotten it!)? Actaully this ties in with the tattoo question. I have wanted a tatto, or actually two, for ages but haven't gotten around to it. I want the japanese kanji for honou and nagare which means flame and stream. What I would like it for the kanji to be colored and enhanced with colors corresponding to the element. But I haven't gotten around to it... Also I am regretting not getting the latest inqusitions from the BPTP. I jsut couldn't motivate myself to pay the shipping. Same thing with most things from there really.   What Halloween scent are you most looking forward to? Well, I just got my cns (10 day TAT to europe, go labbies!) for harvest moon, hellhound, lune noir and SM and I have decants of 12 scents coming as well So right now Hellhound but it might change when I get to smell the decants.   Tattoos! Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt and also early 1900's.   Will you be participating NaNoWriMo? If so, is there anything you'd like to have for that? I am thinking of it, and I just got a nice empty lined book to write in so I should. More empty books and nice pens are always good   Favorite office supplies Thin felt-tip pens! The ones that are orange, shaped like pencils and come in lots of diffrent colors. Also pretty notebooks and post-its. I never have enough post-its. And gel pens... Oh I wish I was going to school this fall but alas it was not to be.   Favorite halloween candy Nothing especially halloweeny but chocolate is ALWAYS a favorite.   What is your favorite pumpkin goodness? Uhm, showing my nationality here but... I have never tried anything with pumpkin in it that wasn't a perfume. Pumpin pie sounds awesome though. And most other stuff too...   What is your favorite part about fall? That it is about new beginnings. For me spring is the closing and fall the start. Has to do with the school year I think. I am not IN school anymore but the feeling still remains. Also as an october baby I love fall in general - the pretty colors, the smells... mmm I am happy fall is coming.
