Switch Witch Spring 2016 - Help Post

2.29.16

Etsy Favorites: https://www.etsy.com/people/Izile/favorites?ref=si_fav (I'm making a Switch Witch board, which is especially less expensive items, feel free to look at the main board as an idea of my style, but didn't want to make it look like I was expecting anyone to spend that kind of money on me!! 0.o nope nope!) - needs a lil more work

Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/izile/ - progress...

Amazon Wishlist - http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/7KANCDM0KO7J/ref=cm_wl_sortbar_o_page_1 - updated

Sockdreams wishlist - http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/edc0bc670665758 - updated

BPAL Website wishlist: best to work with my forum one. http://www.bpal.org/topic/127-wishlist/page-61?p=1239783&do=findComment&comment=1239783 - updated

I'll be updating all these wishlist soon - they all need it!!

Do you like colouring? I've been really curious, but haven't bought a book yet - when I was really sick and couldn't leave the house for so long earlier this winter, but was starting to feel good enough to not be in bed all the time, I took to printing out coloring pages, and I really enjoyed it. So if there were some small books with those really detailed intricate designs like I see, that would be cool. I don't need pencils, though, I've got a 120 prismacolor pencil set - so I'm good. (though maybe a nice pencil sharpener could be handy if you go this way)

If you like Lush, are there any UK-only things you're desperate to get? I'm not that familiar with what's UK only, I'm a rather casual Lush user - but looking at the UK website and seeing what doesn't look familiar: Ladybird Bubble Bar, Dreamtime Bath Oil, Milky Bath, Lover Lamp Bomb, Frozen Bomb, Coconut Scrubby Roulade, Cherry on Top scrub bar, curious about the "showders" don't think we have those in the US??

Crochet goodies yes or no? If yes, what kind of goodies? I do not do this craft myself, but I appreciate this craft, and like things like arm warmers, and leg warmers and cute things like that.

Do you have any allergies to animals/smoke/food etc? Dear Witch, please check ingredients carefully! I cannot have carrageenan (the worst of the worst) or guar gum, I try and avoid anything with tara gum, locust bean gum, or any of the others, just because there are sooo many and I haven't had the chance/inclination to individually test each and every one to see if they hurt my guts or not. Gelatin is totally OK. I'm also allergic to cigarette smoke, but that's never come up before - just don't send me anything that came from a smoking home and we should be fine.

Graphic novels: love! Lil picky - don't know if any are currently on my Amazon wishlist. Just read Sandman Overture, but also enjoyed Maus and Pretty Deadly, and others...

Nail Polish? I've been teeter-tottering between 3 different pink nail polishes from BPTP, but am waiting on swatches... I seem to have a lot right now, I've been buying more than usual... but no specific brands.

Crafty? Used to make jewelry, in theory I still would, just time... I also like sculpy, but same time issue, same with painting/drawing or making just about anything else... (miss it!)
BPTP Products? I do like them, have a whole section about BPTP in my BPAL wishlist (sig) - I am also a huge fan of samples, so 1oz samples are frequently perfect for me.

Nail Wraps?? I just got into them in January, and it took me a few tries to get them to last more than 3-4 days - but now that I've figured it out and gotten the right top coat, I'm really interested - especially in Espionage Cosmetics nail wraps - I totally lust after the discontinued last unicorn ones, especially the ones where the unicorns are all coming out of the sea on the crest of the waves - but I'm not expecting my Witch to be a miracle worker - the perfectly normally priced in-stock tentacles, or baker street, or mermaid scales, or sheet music, or most ardently - any of those would be amazeballs awesome!

Teas/Spices/Spice Rubs/Specialty Ingredients from a local tea & spice shop?
I'm becoming a bit of a tea fiend, even blend my own through adagio sometimes. - As for loose vs. bags - I mostly keep loose, though I do occasionally use bags for convenience, especially if it's at home and not at work. As for spice blends, I get so overwhelmed in those shops - I want EVERYTHING. I've got a fairly good basic spice pantry, but there's always these custom blends unique to each shop which are always so tempting... just, easy on the heat - I'm a mild/low-tolerance person when it comes to heat!

Speaking of spices - where's your spicy/heat threshold? (scale of 1 - 10 - 1 being nothing more than black pepper, 10 being ghost pepper+)
I'm about 2-ish.

Preferred book format? Physical, PDF, Kindle, etc? normally physical, but there are some books I'd take as Kindle.
Would you be interested in any handmade critters? Stuffed animals, knit or crochet beasties, or anything remotely similar? If so, please give an example or five - like amigarumi stuff? I've seen a rare couple that I thought were neat, but I can't think of them, and mostly the answer is no.

Since this is the Spring Fools' round, is there anything that goes with the theme of April Fool's Day or spring that might be fun to add to your package? Flowers (seeds, real, or handmade) prank-related items, a court jester's cap? Feel free to be creative and crazy with this one! no so much april fools, but I'm getting psyched for garden stuff.

Geek paraphernalia! Almost everyone here has SOME sort of geek-love, whether it is Harry potter, Horror movies, graphic novels, science, etc. So would you be interested in any kind of items related to your geek-ish interests? I have a few nerdy interests, but few geek-out fixations. Science-y stuff probably tops the list. Though things like the lab set bar ware take up an awful lot of space - but stuff like that, or periodic table themes or like that artist who spells things in molecules
.
Any yarn, plastic, metal, or fabric sensitivities? I remember having some cheap jewelry as a kid that turned me green, but nothing since, otherwise, no sensitivities, though I do try and avoid poly/rayon/synthetics as much as possible.

Any places you would like gift cards from? Amazon is always useful, or etsy, or sephora - all good! (oh, and Home Depot, for the garden stuff - see below)

Do you wear make-up? Any brands you like? Color preferences? I do, I don't have any particular brand loyalty - right now I'm using E.L.F. CC cream for my daily foundation, and I have Kat Von D's foundation for special occasions or all-day events with lots of photography like cons and such. I'm super pale, but also very pink, which makes finding the right skin-tone a PitA - it's like they don't think people can be really pale without being really yellow - I am not yellow-tone, my skin is transparent and I am full of blood, therefore, pink. I am an absolute lippie fiend. I have 5 Lipstick Queen lipsticks (probably close as a "favorite brand" as I get - and all over the place, Medieval, Ice Queen, Hello Sailor, Saint Red, Saint Wine), and am always grabbing a new tinted lip balm or new lipstick or lip liner - coral/orange/beige/browns are the only colors I steer far far away from in lippie-land. I'm working on eye-makeup, have several stacks of estee international's pure mica mineral powders, and a few pencils, eyeliners and mini-mascaras - but would be very interested in fun colors. I like to play!

Junk food and candy? no thank you - it's just not my thing. It's taken me over a year to get through last year's Christmas candy. Nice dark chocolate bars are fun, and homemade treats are nice, but I'm just never drawn to candy - if anything, my one occasional junk food splurge is chips, like cheetos and doritos - terrible stuff, I know, and don't even eat them every year, but that's also because I can eat an entire large bag in one sitting if I do give in - hurk...
Witchee, regarding your fave TV shows, would you be interested in the associated DVDs? Fan books? probably not.

Do you need any items for your kitchen (linens, gadgets, cooking supplies, etc.)? The state of my oven mitts is a disgrace, seriously. I'm always up for fun kitchen stuff, though I just don't have a lot of space for gizmos and gadgets. Tiiiiiiiny NYC kitchen (I've seen boat gallies bigger). I'd like nicer hand towels, but it's also pointless, because my sister takes every single one I hang on the oven and moves it over to the couch to use as a napkin - seriously, I have hung 3 new kitchen towels on the oven door, and all 3 will be stuffed into the couch like a squirrel put them there by the end of the day - ALL THREE - it's insane, and she just won't stop. *sighs* - so, skip that. That's also how I feel about nice tea cups and good china - I would LOVE to have some nice plates or cute English tea cups - but they will be destroyed, if not by Shiva (sister), then by 1984 (clueless bro-dude, time-stuck roommate). I spend so much time wandering through the aisles of Home Goods, TJ Maxx, Fish's Eddy, Whisk... and just look at all the things I'd love to have but know my roommates will absolutely destroy. (some things I've started hording in my room - but then they never get used - and what's the point if they're just going to sit in a box on a shelf or under my bed? - this is obviously a big point of serious angst, dear witch, and I apologize for the novel here, but I do want you to understand.

Gardens/plants: I am dreaming of spring, dear witch: Do you like plants? Do you have any? Indoor potted plants? A balcony bed? A yard? Do you want/need anything?
(I've marked some gardening books on amazon, and one of those hanging pouch planter things, was looking through etsy for cute things, and in the aforementioned gift card question, Home Depot would also be an option)

If I were to make you something based on one or more interests mentioned in your Q'aire/blog, would you prefer something you could wear, something that hangs on a wall, or something that sits on a shelf (or couch or wherever)?
Probably wall hanging, though I'm running out of wall space, honestly, but my shelves are also getting crowded... what is a thing that could sit on a couch? like a pillow? Living room is pretty set for those...

Are you in need of BPAL storage? Not raw boxes, but I've been wanting some kind of imp-holding lattice thing to go in a box - like the ammo shell cases whatever that people talk about.

Do you like candles? Incense? Wax melts? candles, yes, but I'm pretty good on candles right now.

BAGS! Do you like/want/need any kind of bags? I'm getting to a point where I need to start thinking about a couple of needs in this department.. yes...

What style of bag from here (if any) would you like? You can easily narrow down the choices on the side menu - but I only want to know the style, not the pattern!
not really into any of the shapes they showed, they all seem very flat/square - which I get is good to show off the patterns, but normally not the shapes I go for in bags. I prefer things that have long straps that can either go over a shoulder like a backpack or a cross-body sling - I don't want to have to hold anything in my hand all the time. And my wallet/keys is a freakin' brick, so it doesn't tend to fit in slim-line or envelope style purses; so I normally go for mini-backpack style purses, or might go for what pinterest is calling a "bucket" style... (speaking of, Witch, just in case, I should try and updated my Pinterest "Crave" board to try and give visual aids, just in case)

Here's a question. I make handmade journals/albums/smashbooks/junk journals. Would you be interested in anything like that? Yes!

If you like Harry Potter stuff, what house do you belong in? If you like Game of Thrones, what family?
I'm a mild Potter fan - but enough so that I know I'm a Ravenclaw and think some Ravenclaw stuff might be cute! I'm much more into GoT and I am totally Dornish! Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken, baby!

What's your favorite animal/totem? Would you be interested in a small figurine of said animal from this etsy user?
Favorite animal is a horse, though unicorn/pegasus/dragon are also huge if we include fantasy animals. Totem is a ladybug, and I have an undefined connection to foxes. and yes, I think that etsy seller's creatures are adorable!!

Anything exciting to you in PBSW's Spring Collection?
Oh yes! I have plenty of bar soap, but I am getting low on lotions, and especially sample sizes of things, like sugar scrubs, are always welcome! The Sky Blue Sky sounds interesting, Bramble and Apple sounds really good!, and so does the April Fools one, too!

If you won a gift certificate for $100 (Or similar amount in your country) that could be used ANYWHERE what would you get? Oh, hard to say - right now, I might want to go on a spending spree at Home Depot to get all the things for the garden! I'm kind of fixated right now, and $100 could go a long way towards cement blocks, potting soil, fertilizers and some new hanging baskets and such...

Something that you look forward to each spring, or that when you see it (hear it/smell it/taste it, etc) you think "Yes! Spring is here!" or something along those lines! The first day I don't need to wear thermal underwear? LOL. Back home it was always Mom's row of daffodils popping up - lilac trees are a bit more common up here, them and the cherry blossoms - yeah, the first flowering trees in spring just make everything "spring-y" to me.

Witchee, how do you feel about this type of garment? What color & size would you like? (keep in-mind it does say it runs one size big!) no thank you.

Are there any mythical creatures that you're really into and that you would enjoy gifts relating to? All of them! No really, I'm obsessed with all types of mythology, have been since I was a kid. Unicorns are a favorite, followed quickly by dragons, and then fairies - I self-identify as "elfy" so while I like elven/elvish-items, I'm not much on statuary or art of elves themselves, and fairies/mermaids are about on the same footing - mer-other-things (like hypocampus or seahorses/seadragons, probably trump mermaids a bit), but I also have a special place for phoenixes of all cultures, (not as much on Asian unicorns/dragons, prefer western - but for phoenix it doesn't matter)

Do you have a green thumb, my Witchee? Would you be interested in bulbs, seeds or other gardening paraphernalia? Do you have a favorite flower?   Somewhat? My thumb is green compared to most people I know in my generation, but nothing like the thumbs of my mother, or her friends. I am interested in garden stuff! And dear Witch, and can get *explicit* with details about my garden if you need to know specifics! I haven't done bulbs before, not sure how well they'd I mostly grow vegetables and herbs, things that have kitchen uses, though I would be interested in any small annual flowers that have pest-repellent properties (I usually plant low marigolds), but if there are other things like that, I'd love that! I don't get a lot of full-sun space, though, so that's something to keep in mind. Gardening paraphenalia - yes! I have a soil tester that tests for moisture and pH, but I'd love a soil tester or a kit to test other factors - I'm pretty sure my soil needs some serious nitrogen fixing at this point. Also, would love some beneficial insects, ladybugs bugger off pretty quickly, and obviously it's too early for aphids here, but have been thinking about a mantis pod! Would love predatory mites (after having spider mite problems), but they tend to be expensive. Some pretty little yard art could also be cute! Oh, and there's those clay pots they're doing now where you fill them with water and bury them, and they leech water slowly into the soil? Been curious about those, especially if I'm building above-ground beds... and also been interested in those hanging planter things, they look like shoe organizers like you hang on a door, but you hang them on a wall outside and they have little pockets for strawberries or lettuces... and my favorite flower is probably a rose - can't really grow them in my yard, I tried a mini once, it only lasted two years... :-( - I also love lilacs, and they do well up here, but again, I don't have the space - I have thought about foxglove now and again, I do love them, they tolerate shade OK, and they're only biannuals.   Dear witch, seriously, could go on forever.

(Things from 2015 Blog that have NOT Changed)

Pumpkin: I don't like pumpkin or pumpkin-spice flavored/scented things, but I like things made with real pumpkin, like pumpkin bread! (YUM) - Oddly, I liked the pumpkin stuff in Japan, not pumpkin-spice, more like pumpkin-custard.
Alcohol: YES!! But I am a little picky in each area. I am the office lush, I am a big cocktail fan (of GOOD cocktails), my sister works for a local distillery and has her WSET-4 certificate. I love wine, beer, ciders, meads, spirits - LOVE ALL the big categories!

Wine: I prefer whites and roses over most reds, don't like heavy tanins, and do not like chardonnay! California wine is probably my least favorite area - like South American, and of course, French/Italian/Spanish. I don't tend to like sweet wine unless it's a dessert wine.

Beer: Would love to try homemade beer! I'm not a huge hop fan, don't do IPAs, but I love hefeweissens, porters, stouts, dubbles, triples, quads, barley wines, sours, lambics, and almost everything else! Just nothing tooo hoppy

Cider: LOVE ciders! I especially like dry sparkling ciders like the Foggy Ridge Serious Cider, lots of great ciders around NY! However, I am not a fan of ciders like Angry Orchard, Ace, and the overly sweet low ABV ones.

Mead: I get a little obsessive, even driving out of state to go on mead hunts, to host mead tasting parties (and write mead reviews on my blog sometimes) - again, I prefer the drier more complex modern meads, not so much the sticky sweet ren faire meads (I detest Carrol's and Chaucer's - so far I think HoneyMaker is my favorite meadery, but they're out of Maine and hard to track down sometimes! - but always looking for new ones!)

Spirits: sis works for a local craft distillery, and has really taught me a lot about the craft spirits movement, so I really get excited by new local spirits I've never heard of before, or don't get sold in my area. Vodka is my least favorite spirits, with Bourbon being my most favorite. I also love local cordials and liqueurs, and have a little obsession with running around trying to find good fruit eau de vie.

Sense of humor: weird? dry? british? lil dark? I'm not a fan of puns, but clever word play can be cute. My favorite comedians are Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey, Eddie Izzard... see, british... I like wacky (Monty Python) and somewhat surreal sometimes (Mighty Boosh), but it can go too far (Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy Hour).

Board Games: I do love games, but don't always have enough folks to play with. Currently most folks seem obsessed with the sith's bigger blacker box of Cards Against Humanity, and the new Exploding Kittens game. Wise & Otherwise is one of my favorite board games I never get to play (really need 5+ people to make it really fun! It's in the Balderdash family)

Is there anything that you specifically do NOT want to receive? Gloves, with my Reynaud's I have to have very particular gloves. Also bar soap - I can only use bar soap as hand soap, it's very harsh/drying on my skin.

Plain or fun socks? Fun socks! I have an extensive Sockdreams collection and wishlist - so I'm not hurting for socks in any way, but I'm kinda hooked on fun new socks.

Name one (or as many as you would like) thing you would like to learn more about?
I'm interested in learning more about all sorts of new things, DIY books, like silver clay books, is something I've always wanted to play with, but never took the leap. Or a better guide to polymer clay sculpting, or with resins.... I also love general sciencey lay-person books like "Stuff Matters" (great read) and Michio Kaku's just about everything (halfway through his brain book) loved Dr. Oliver Sach's Musicophila book, and I am fascinated by neuroscience. I'm also always up for learning more about stuff I've got a good foundation in, like specialty cookbooks, or gardening books (lots of this is on my Amazon wish list, though).

What one thing would you like to do more of?
I miss arting and crafting as much as I used to before the full-time day job.

What are some things that fascinate you? Or, What would you like to know more about? - I'm really all over the place, right now I'm fascinated by tiny houses, space saving tricks, and also doing a lot of reading on agricultural history and heirloom varietals

Would you like any cookie butter (just to be clear, store-bought, not home-made, and does contain wheat since it's, y'know, cookie butter)? No thank you, not my thing.

Is there any particular piece (or pieces) of art (painting, photograph, etc) that speaks to you in some way? I have a lot of aesthetic feels. I love Stephanie Pui-Mu Law (have her tarot deck, and some art), but classically I like impressionism and romanticism, but I can also get sucked in by modern art or the old masters. I also love really bizarre things, like Edward Gorey, S. Fischer Williams, etc.

Keep Putting Off: Sometimes buying small things in NYC is a pain in the butt, because you have to go to a specialty shop for anything, almost. I have a UtopiaArmory chainmail bikini top, and I somehow lost one of the black grosgrain ribbons that ties it together in the back (about an inch wide) - and I know it's a simple thing, but I just never get around to going and getting a new ribbon for my bikini top. Also, just got a new corset, and it's laces are basically just super long shoe laces, would love something nicer, like a black satin ribbon, strong enough for coresting, maybe 1/2" to 1" wide, and it doesn't have to be super crazy long because it's only a little cincher, but obviously long enough, and I do own scissors, so I can cut ribbon down) - but things like this, I never go to the fabric district, and they're such small things... ugh! That'd be great if my witch lives in a place with a Jo-Ann's or a Hancock Fabric, and could just run in and buy me a couple of yards or good ribbon.

Handmade vs store-bought: for me it really depends on the thing. Though I'd rather have homemade edibles than store-bought; but I don't know anyone who can make cool thigh-hi tights, or who makes their own tea bags - so things like that, obviously store-bought is perfectly OK.

Other Companies: for perfume oils, I'm pretty much just BPAL, though I do like my bottle of CB: I Hate Perfume, Just Breathe. Their stuff is pretty distinctive, and no itching/sneezing. I do love the gloss sprays and sugar scrubs and lip balms from Haunt, and I've only had a lip balm from Haus of Gloi, but it was great! Miss that one (used it alll up!) It seems a lot of my other favorite indie bath/body companies have shut down (Sideshow Soaps went to grad school, Latherati never got back up and running) - oh, and I am very curious about Villainess stuff, since I've liked what I've tried through BPTP, but I've only tried their BPTP stuff.. so.. unsure.

Digital/Analog: Both. I mean, I circle around the steampunk theme, though I don't belong to any groups, so I like that aesthetic and old stuff like that. However, I also have a zune for my mp3s, and I do like some podcasts, and would like to listen to more, have a kindle app on my ASUS tablet - though I tend to prefer paper books, some books are better as digital, especially if they're going to be train reading (or if they only come in digital download with no paper version available).

Kitchen Wants/Needs: I have a tiny kitchen so I don't have room for all the things I'd love to have. There's not a bare wall, or a place to even hang anything (very sad face), and also almost nil counter space (super duper sad face). And I think I've got a pretty comprehensive spice cabinet already.

Affinity for specific animals: lots of them, I have a ladybug totem, I have a very touching story about my grandmother that connects me to goldfinches, I have always been a horse-obsessed girl, and thus also unicorns and pegasi (to a slightly lesser extent) but fantasy also takes me into dragons, love love dragons, too - though in all these things, I tend not to like silly/cutesy/cartoony versions. (the last unicorn cartoon is a rare exception to the that, but so pretty!!) - I also have an inexplicable draw towards foxes, and I love cats. And phoenixes, forgot to mention phoenixes - bit of a personal symbol.

Scary Movie: I like the occasional scary movie when I'm in the mood, but it's nothing I get fan-girlish about, or can even really remember. If you count them, I guess the Evil Dead movies would be favorites, because they're one of the few movies I can watch repeatedly. I did really enjoy Crimson Peak - though it's not traditional horror, that's more my style of "horror" than say, Nightmare on Elmstreet.

Blu-Ray or DVD: DVD, would have to go to the sith's house to watch a blu-ray

Game Systems: we have a Wii (classic, not updated), and sis uses it mostly - me, rarely. Sith has an Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but both live with him and I barely ever touch them.

Talk to me about bags, what kinds do you like? Sizes and styles?
I'm also picky about purses. Half the time, I run around with an old beaten up black leather backpack that can and has take a beating. The other times are mostly split between two purses, one is a black leather mini backpack with lots of pockets, though the lining is shredding all through it, so it might not be long for this world ( :-( - ), it's a good daily purse, plain, external and internal pockets, big enough to hold my brick of a wallet and keys, and my tablet fits in it, except it peeks out the top a bit. I also have a dark red leather mini-backpack (a bit flatter where the black one is a proper satchel, just in miniature), but I don't use it that much, I do love it, just holds less than the black one, so I've been beating the hell out of it, instead of the red one. Oh, and an olive green mini backpack (I sense a theme) with brown leather straps that tends to be my con bag - it's really mini, holds my wallet and small things, but tablet won't fit, doesn't have many pockets, and just doesn't have much volume (I can fit amazing amounts of stuff in old blackie, as I have suddenly named it. Tablet, no problem. Bottle of wine? watch this! I'm going to miss it when it dies. . . . otherwise, I have a tiny vintage (40s?) beaded velvet hand clutch from the sith's Mom I've never used (my keys don't even fit), and a silvery-grey eel skin vintage envelope purse from my Mom (close as I have to a "nice" purse) - I think, sometimes, I should get a small, cute purse that would look nicer for nights out than just dragging old blackie everywhere, no matter how rough it's starting to look.

Fandoms: I have many fandoms, but I'm not especially fannish - I don't really collect much from any of my fandoms - I have a couple of pieces of Dark Tower art I love, and a small shelf dedicated to a tiny delegation of plastic ponies that represent the horde that lives at my parents house (3 breyers, 3 G1 MLP, 1 MLP FiM mini set + 1 found loosie + 1 gifted tiny sparkling Rarity ('cause she's my pony if I have to go FiM, though I honestly prefer G1) and 5 tokidoki unicorns. - I really should make a TokiDoki list or something, there are a couple I would LOVE to have, but not so much that I'll risk that many blind boxes, or pay the ebay prices. (mostly: I always wanted Fumo (to represent my sith), Sakura, Bambu, or Choccinella). Tchotchkies in general, smaller is better, and maybe some should live at the office with me... I do also have Welcome to Nightvale stuff, but I think I have everything I want that they make (girl scout badges, the weird at last poster, a couple of t-shirts. ..) and for the record, star wars is the sith's thing (thus his nickname), I'm a medium level fan (I have a custom lightsabre, but it was a gift, and I've dressed up as a night sister, but only to match him)

Colors: blues, greens, purples, reds, all sorts of shades and saturations. I don't like beige, beige is death, and don't like grey - NYC is grey enough. I only do brown occasionally when it's a very dark rich chocolate brown.

Mall: Not a mall person, generally - I tend to only go these days when I need new bras/panties, and I need an Aerie. Here the Sephoras are stand alone, I go in them all the time.

Subscription Boxes: I am curious about these, I only get Birchbox, and the sith gets Lootcrate (but I get first dibs on anything fun, but haven't seen anything interesting in the last 2-3). There was a crowdsourcing page I can't remember where/which one anymore, but it was trying to start up a new goth box service, the DIY goth and Steampunk goth boxes looked cute, and you could get a one off...

IKEA: I live near one, so don't need anything.

The questionnaire asked about gold & silver jewelry, but how do you feel about copper jewelry? Do you like colorful jewelry, or do you prefer to keep it neutral?
If it were something especially interesting, I think copper could be pretty - I do like rose gold colors, and they can sometimes be the same, and I love my copper rosebud hair sticks. I do prefer more colorful jewelry!

We asked about decorating style, but are you interested in receiving decorations for your home? Are you interested in things that go on the wall or things that go on shelves?
Size is a big issue, because of the tiny apartment and space, I have limited shelf space, and limited wall space. But, things that are especially awesome, I make room for.

Office supplies hound? Pens, pencils, journals, any preference, or favorites?
I already have an office supply hook-up, so I don't need anything in this department.

I live near a huuuuge candy store. What kind of candy do you like? Gummies? Caramel? Chocolate? Sour? Sugar-free?
I'm not a big candy store fan in general.

How do you feel about animal products? Not so much animal toys or food, but more like furs, paws, bones, etc.
I'm totally cool with just about everything, as long as it's legal, clean, and not super gross (not that I expect my witch to spend that kind of money on me... - however, if my witch is in a wooded, rural area, and just happens to find a shed antler, that is VERY AWESOME. I have a nice sheepskin I picked up from a green market in RI last summer, adore it, and I'm always looking in the leathers and pelts stall at the ren faire.

restaurant.com gift cards: never used it. Isn't it like g/cs for chains, though? I try not to eat at chain restaurants, so probably not. Opentable.com on the other hand...

"toys" like stuffed animals: I do like them, but I'm pretty much at capacity for stuffed animals - the sith is fond of squishables, and I keep getting more (thankfully just the minis) than I have room for.

Fanfic: no thanks

Height: I am 5'8" (don't know my arm span, but shouldn't it be just a bit shy of your height, if you go wrist to wrist? I only have a wooden ruler at my desk, but it seems like 24" from wrist to shoulder (if you count a high shoulder, like almost to the neck, like a ragland sleeve) )

How do you feel about the 4 elements? Or are you more of an Asian 5 elements person? Do you feel strongly about any of the elements, like a connection or a preference?
Personally, I jive more with the Western 4, and I'm more earth, with a big side of storm, then regular air, then fire, and water's last at the bottom.

How do you feel about online classes? Like, say, craftsy or creativebug? Or even lynda.com? I love them in concept, and would like to do more, but I am unsure if I have the free-time/personal discipline to use them adequately.

How do you feel about bento boxes? Is it something you would use if you were to get one? like the Japanese lunch boxes? I probably wouldn't use it.

Scarves, shawls or cowls? Mittens, gloves, fingerless mitts or wristlets? I could dig a cowl.. I mostly have scarves (shawls? I have a couple of pashminas?) - and I tend towards gloves, but with the Reynaud's I'm very particular, I tend not to go for mittens, unless they're the kind that flip back to reveal fingers. I love arm warmers, and have wanted some long gloves, never a great way to cover up the wrists in the brutal NYC winter!

If I were to make you some art, would you prefer a frame that hangs or one that sits? And what color/style would you prefer? I prefer hanging frames, and frames, I'm all over the place, I have a huge ornate reclaimed frame I repainted in a Night Circus theme, to simple white, black, and copper metal frames. Whatever jives with the art, I guess.

How do you feel about gourmet marshmallows? I'm generally not a marshmallow person, but homemade marshmallows are so good! I've occasionally made marshmallows with booze as flavoring, and they are sooo good in hot cocoa once the winter turns! If the gourmet ones were fresh (not stale in the store for months, like regular ones) I'd love some!

Are you a slatherer or a dabber? depends on mood and oil - some oils I love to slather, but I'm more often a dabber.

Talk to me, dear witchies, about tea. I know we've covered this a little, but I really need the nitty gritty here- not just companies you like and don't like (Teavana? Adagio? David's? Some tiny place?) but I also want to know the other stuff: top 3 flavors, loose or bagged, the kinds of tea accessories you use- or have always wanted. Be specific. Provide links if necessary.
I'm not fond of David's, they put a lot of artificial flavors and sweeteners in some of their flavored blends, and I try and avoid those. I try and avoid artificial flavors in general, but a I ABSOLUTELY avoid artificial sweeteners, because the sith is allergic, and if tea is going to be in the house, he's going to drink it - also, I just dislike the aftertaste of artificial sweeteners. Teavana is fine, Adagio is my go-to out of the big corps, and I like DryadTea on etsy. Top 3 flavors are chocolate mint (green or black), and like that in teabags, and l prefer tea bags for my cold brew iced tea, but normally do loose leaf for my hot brewed iced tea. I also do loose leaf a lot for my morning black teas, which I like a variety of somewhat flavored, have been drinking a lot of pomegranate/raspberry vanilla rose black tea - could use a bit of a mix up there - getting colder, would like a ginger tea - always wondered if there was a ginger/coconut black tea, sounds good to me... I also try and drink really light refreshing green teas in the afternoon, and sometimes fruity bright white teas. Sometimes I do red tea, but normally not straight, something with more flavors, and vanilla goes well with a lot of red tea. I have all the tea equipment I really need/want.

ThinkGeek: I used to like them, but they've left a bad taste in my mouth after a few too many blatant etsy rip-offs, and sometimes less than stellar responses addressing getting caught red handed.

Are there any flowers you especially like? Yes! Roses, especially. My Mother's nickname for me is her rose, and when I was in China, the school children named me Mei Gui. If you could have a plant totem, mine would be rose. I also just really like lilacs, childhood obsession.

Would you be interested in any cozies or cases (yarn o fabric, not hard cases) for tech stuff (phone, laptop' etc) or for cups/mugs/bottles or anything else similar. I don't need anything in that department.

Duct tape crafts? I'm not especially sure about this, but dear witch, if that is your thing, I'd be interested to see your craft-fu in that area.
Are there witchees who would like book related gifts like a booklight, bookmark, bookseat or something for your reading gadget, like a cover or a light for example. a book light might be interesting, as long as it didn't need a plug-in. And I always need more bookmarks.

I make handmade journals, mini albums and similar items. Would my witchee be interested in something like that? Yea, verily, yea!

Are you interested in leg warmers at all? no so much in the traditional sense, but the kind that are meant to stick out the top of tall boots look cute.

Portal board game: pass

The Martian movie: pass

Honey or beeswax products? Discuss. Oh yes, please! The sith consumes amazing amounts of honey - actually slightly worrisome - but I'm also a fan, especially of regional varietals (there's a man at the union sq market who sells 5-6 seasonal flavors of honey, depending on where his bees were parked - goldenrod has been one of my favorites the past few years, but when I first found him, he had raspberry rose honey! Yum! And the old man with the blackberry farm back home sold blackberry honey from his bees that he used to pollinate his huge fields. I also love beeswax products - beeswax candles are a favorite (rolled tapers and votives, mostly, though I also like some of the molded ones - like my last witch got me this lovely beeswax candle that looked like a bottle with a floral motif, it smells great, even though I haven't burned it because it's so pretty! So definitely yes to beeswax, too!

Phobias: spiders

Marmite: no thank you

Used nail polish: I wouldn't object to a BPTP bottle that had already been tried - as long as the texture hasn't started going off, and that it wasn't an obviously almost empty/half-empty bottle - but one you tried and didn't like? Totally fine with that.

Are there any DISCONTINUED (not LE) BPAL oils that you wish you had, or had a little more of? Prunella. I loved that one.

And all questions from the SW thread will be copied here too:

Do you like colouring?
I have colored pencils and books so I'm set on these
Can you list your wishlists please?
Above this!
If you like Lush, are there any UK-only things you're desperate to get?
I don't use Lush a whole lot, but I'd be willing to try anything (I can't currently use bath bombs though :c )
Crochet goodies yes or no? If yes, what kind of goodies?
I always appreciate anyone's crochet/knitting work even though I crochet myself! I also enjoy crochet crafting supplies! handmade crochet hooks, cute stitch markers, yarn bowls, crochet/knitting bags etc (Edit: I know it's almost summer and I live in a place that gets to 115° but if you knit SUPER fast and could make an oversized sweater, I would be indebted to you forever, I don't know if it's allowed, but I'd be comfortable waiting past deadline for that. I can't ever find oversized sweaters that fit me and I always want to pick up knitting to make my own and never have the patience for it. I'd be willing to pay for materials and the pattern too.)
Do you have any allergies to animals/smoke/food etc?
I'm only allergic to the penicillin-class of medication, so I am safe to send all sorts of things to from any kind of house!
Do you like comics or graphic novels?
I haven't read any, but my fiance tries to get me into them. There's one inspired by Jim Henson that looks super awesome (because Jim Henson) so I'd like to give that one a try!
Nail Polish! Do you have a specific brand you like? Do you like/want to try Indie brands? What colors of nail polish do you wear?
I have lots of OPI but I'll take any brand-name polish. I love indie brands! A few of my favorites are KBShimmer, BearPawlish, EchoesPolish, GirlyBits Polish, and Bootie Babe Polish. I will wear any color of polish, yes really. I tend to not buy as many copper-colors, but I will wear them!
Do you use BPTP products? If so, which do you like, not like, want to try? And if not, are you interested in trying some, and which ones (scents or item types or both) most appeal?
I haven't yet! I do have the Blueberry Cream Pie perfume oil which smells FANTASTIC, and I'd like to try the HG but I just haven't taken the plunge yet. I would be interested in their perfume oils and HG's because I can't take baths currently.
Nail Wraps??
I'm not sure if I'd use these because I really love to use my nail polishes? But Nail Vinyls yes please!!! Twinkled T has a large selection of fantastic nail vinyls and I don't think I'd be sour about any of them. They're pretty inexpensive and I've always wanted to try more, I've only used them once at sister-in-law's house.
Teas/Spices/Spice Rubs/Specialty Ingredients from a local tea & spice shop?
Yes. I love tea, I like oolongs and genmaicha the best but I will drink and try any and all teas. Also yes to spices etc because I like to do crockpotting and to get different flavor combinations from other places would be super cool, I'm an omnivore so any kind of meat rub would be acceptable!
In Regards to loose/bagged tea:
I normally prefer loose tea, but if there's a bagged tea you really like, please share with me!
Speaking of spices - where's your spicy/heat threshold?
Jalapenos/chili oil/spicy tuna is about the level of spice that I can handle. So on a scale of 1 - 10 I assume a 2 or 2.5?
Preferred book format? Physical, PDF, Kindle, etc?
I used to have a Kindle but it broke, so right now physical books would be ideal. It'll make convincing my husband we need a bookcase even better!
Would you be interested in any handmade critters? Stuffed animals, knit or crochet beasties, or anything remotely similar? If so, please give an example or five
Ohh yes! Stuffed or crocheted would be cool! It's probably the one thing I'm not good at is amigurumi. Five animal/beasties....Octopus/Cthulhu, Sharks, Giraffe, Owls, Dragons
Since this is the Spring Fools' round, is there anything that goes with the theme of April Fool's Day or spring that might be fun to add to your package? Flowers (seeds, real, or handmade) prank-related items, a court jester's cap? Feel free to be creative and crazy with this one!
I'm not sure if this counts, but I do use wax melt tarts, so any springy scents would be great. I normally buy from Yankee Candle, but if you know of a great person on Etsy, please show me someone who does it themselves by all means!
Pet owners - would you like any kind of toy or supply for your pet?
I feel like I'm always buying toys for my Beebs, but if you see something super adorable I won't say no! As for supplies, I could use some extra bowls for when I feed her wet food.
Geek paraphernalia! Almost everyone here has SOME sort of geek-love, whether it is Harry potter, Horror movies, graphic novels, science, etc. So would you be interested in any kind of items related to your geek-ish interests?
Pffffsh yes. I buy silly things all the time based solely on the fact that someone named it based on my interests! Interests a-hoy:
Star Trek:TNG
Doctor Who
Hannibal (tv series for things to buy but I liked the movies -obviously- ANTHONY HOPKINS UHYES)
Clue (Movie)
D&D
Sherlock
Lord of the Rings/Hobbit
(will add more when I remember 'cause I'm having brain farts)
Any yarn, plastic, metal, or fabric sensitivities?
Cheaper metals turn my skin green, and wool makes me a bit itchy like normal folks, but that's about it!
Would you like pretty stationery/note cards, etc, for writing snail mail?
I actually would like some pretty note cards! I've been fairy-ing a lot for the events and always forget to put in little notes, so this would help me to remember and fellow forumites would get pretty little notes in their packages!
If you could have any BPALs right now (GC, LE, HTF) what would they be? Give examples of at least a few of each category:
GC
Calico Jack
Cathode
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat
R'lyeh
Arkham

LE
Jareth
Ice
Rendezvous at the Bath
Mother Ghost
The Snow at Noon

HTF (at least for me they are!)
Thunder Moon
Avunculus
Aeaea
Kuang Shi
The Last Unicorn
Any places you would like gift cards from?
I'd really dig some Trader Joe's gift cards. I really love their sweets and their frozen tamales, and the tamales I know couldn't be sent through the mail, so a gift card would be amazing.
Do you wear make-up? Any brands you like? Color preferences?
I wear make-up on occasion but that doesn't mean I don't collect it! I like Geek Chic Cosmetics and NYX Cosmetics. Usually I wear black eye-liner and bright or dark red lipstick or dark purple lipstick. I also really dig chap stick/lip gloss/lip sticks. My lips are always dried out so any moisturizing lip product would be awesome. Eye shadows I'm not picky with color, I like them all.
Junk food and candy?
All of the yes. I'm always eating junk food or candy, no shame here. I'll eat anything sweet. Chocolate is fantastic, chocolate covered items are a plus, fudge is great, hard candy is awesome, gummies I like, sugar is my jam. I'd be totally stoked to get some local sweets or junk foods. I also love bacon. Oh and if you have any place that sells strange jerky ie: alligator, kangaroo, antelope etc I will take that too! (I won't eat candied bugs those please don't send me bugs ohgawnobugsplease D: )
Witchee, regarding your fave TV shows, would you be interested in the associated DVDs? Fan books?
My husband and I actually have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video so DVD's aren't exactly my thing. I think the only DVD's I actually have that get real use are my copies of Clue, Labyrinth, and One, Two, Three (with James Cagney it's an old movie). Oh and Eddie Izzard DVDs but otherwise I don't collect the DVD's because I'd never open them. I'm not sure about fan books, or how I'd feel about them.
Do you need any items for your kitchen (linens, gadgets, cooking supplies, etc.)?
Oh yes, I know a handful of things are wishlisted on Amazon, but I could always use more dishtowels. Green or teal colors preferred (or HALLOWEEN ONES OMG) but I'll take any colors really, I'm too lazy/eclectic to care
Gardens/plants: I am dreaming of spring, dear witch: Do you like plants? Do you have any? Indoor potted plants? A balcony bed? A yard? Do you want/need anything?
I do like plants but we don't have any yet. I have no outdoor room for plants so seeds wouldn't work. I'm really digging these succulents I keep seeing, and I have a handful of succulent planters on etsy I like (esp the dinosaur ones ahahaa) I get nervous about most plants though because I have my cat and she likes to nibble on -everything- so they would need to be cat-safe plants
If I were to make you something based on one or more interests mentioned in your Q'aire/blog, would you prefer something you could wear, something that hangs on a wall, or something that sits on a shelf (or couch or wherever) ?
All of these options? For example, I've purchased nail polish just because it was called Oubliette (terrible darrrrrk oubliette!) So if it's based off one of my interests I'll love it for sure
Are you in need of BPAL storage?
Good god yes! Right now I'm using a sewing storage kit and it's much too small so I can't use the lid and I'm just hiding them in my drawer. I'd like a real, proper storage solution to my beautiful smellies but I never know what to get. Show me the ways of good storage! I would love some storage from you for my BPAL!
Do you like candles? Incense? Wax melts?
I love candles and wax melts. Love them. The more I can make my house smell like pretty smells and less like boy smells the better. I love 'em but after working hard all day he smells like butt. lol!
BAGS! Do you like/want/need any kind of bags? Purses (big, small, medium), storage type bags, totes, re-usable grocery bags, make up or craft supply bags . . . anything? And if so, please give as much info as possible about type, color, use, fabric, etc
Purses would be cool, I normally like giganto ones, but small ones are nice too (My etsy favorites has purses by a lady I really like, her fabrics are too cute!) I also definitely need craft bags as I have so. much. yarn. I've linked to a pinterest which has a few from Look Human I like, and I think I have also favorited a few on etsy that are more traditional craft bags
What style of bag from here (if any) would you like? You can easily narrow down the choices on the side menu - but I only want to know the style, not the pattern!
http://eu.baba-store...bags-and-purses
The style from that specific site: Big Slouchy Messengers. I'll be returning to college here in the summer and could use a nice messenger bag for school supplies.
If you like Harry Potter stuff, what house do you belong in? If you like Game of Thrones, what family?
I've taken a few different tests and back in the day they kept coming out Gryffindor, now they come out Ravenclaw. I've always wanted slytherin though because I love green and I'm all dark and twisty
Here's a question. I make handmade journals/albums/smashbooks/junk journals. Would you be interested in anything like that?
I love handmade things because I make handmade things! I also think having a journal to log my medical stuff might be helpful so yes!
What's your favorite animal/totem? Would you be interested in a small figurine of said animal from this etsy user?
I love all animals and this etsy user makes such gorgeous little sculptures that I would be okay with any of them. That being said, snow leopards are my favorite animal and I'd be super happy to get that too.
Anything exciting to you in PBSW's Spring Collection?
Uhm, all of it? I've never used any of their product but it all looks super awesome.
Witchee, are you interested in this kind of music (it's one of my favorites)[Tartanic - uncivilized]?
I'm pretty open to all music, but I don't listen to music as much as I used to.
Oh dear Witchee, how do you feel about Sakura Matsuri? Do you like Green Tea and Sakura flavored desserts/treats? Decorations or jewelry with a cherry blossom theme?
I like green tea-tea but the flavor tastes weird. Sakura flavor is awesome, I also like plum wine flavor. Cherry blossom decorations/jewelry are totally awesome too
Hey, witchee! If I were to send you a garment, what size would I send?
Depends! My amazon wishlist has most of the sizing already put in, but if you've found something you think I'll really like somewhere else I'm a size 16 in pants and my bust is a 40D so probably the biggest girl size they have if it's a girl size (unless it's a super baggy item, then I can probably do Large) and if it's a guy's style garment then probably 2X or 3X just because I like to cut them up and make them into girlier shirts.
It's Hottie Friday, witches and witchees! Name a famous crush or five
I'm asexual, so for me I don't really crush on celebrities. I do have an appreciation for Benedict Cumberbatch for playing an asexual (I have fears that they'll change that and it makes me sad) But for example, my dream encounter with Bendyback Crumblecake would be to drink tea and have him read to me. lol

Also - what are the last 5 songs that appeared on your random or shuffle music list
Pine Woods - Korpiklaani
Tormilind - Metsatoll
Fly - Blind Guardian
Stardust - Xandria
Rasputin - Turisas
Oh Witchee, have you seen the kimono tops that are all the rage right now? Would you like one? I will sew you one if you do, just tell me if you're a fringe or lace edge or plain edge type of person- I have your color picks from your questionnaire, unless you'd like it in something different than those?
I'd definitely be up for one of these! Plain edge though, my cat might think the fancy trims are cat toys!
I was thinking about busting out the sculpy clay - I sometimes like to make cute little fantasy miniature sculpture, like fairy doors, or miniature garden gnomes for potted plants, or I've even made a couple of tiny smaug's based on this cartoon. If you were my witchee, how would you feel about receiving some tiny fantasy art for your home? Any preference between a fairy door, or a garden gnome, a tiny fairy box, or something like smaug?
Dragons, always dragons.
If you won a gift certificate for $100 (Or similar amount in your country) that could be used ANYWHERE what would you get?
Part of me wants to say "buy things for the house" because we still need things, but if it was a self-splurgy thing? New Clothes.
Something that you look forward to each spring, or that when you see it (hear it/smell it/taste it, etc) you think "Yes! Spring is here!" or something along those lines!
I live in Southern California so we don't have a traditional Fall/Winter here. The lowest it gets is 35 degrees sometimes. So for me fall/winter/spring are all one kind of season and then there's just unbearable summer lol. I think "spring" to me is hearing the birds in the morning/afternoon and the cherry blossom trees growing their flowers (we have one right outside and it's already started)

Do you like colouring?
I do! I have several adult coloring books already, and there is a whole section of additional ones I'd love on my Amazon wishlist.

If you like Lush, are there any UK-only things you're desperate to get?
I am not a fan of Lush, I have discovered. Sadly, their formulas and my skin do not get along.

Crochet goodies yes or no? If yes, what kind of goodies?
Not really my thing. I have cats that would claw anything crocheted.

Do you have any allergies to animals/smoke/food etc?
I'm allergic to tomatoes, incense (so no incense sticks or the like), and latex.

Edited 2/27

Comics/Graphic Novels?
I am getting into the Lucifer tradepaperbacks (I have the first two) and I want to get into reading Deadpool's stuff. But, I love graphic novels and comics!

Nail Polish! Do you have a specific brand you like? Do you like/want to try Indie brands? What colors of nail polish do you wear?
I like cheap, glittery, holo nail polish for crafting purposes.

Another question - do you use BPTP products? If so, which do you like, not like, want to try? And if not, are you interested in trying some, and which ones (scents or item types or both) most appeal?
I don't use the Post's body stuff as it causes me to break out or my hair to go nuts. I do love their atmo sprays, but I think I have all the ones I wanted... except a full side of the Peach Candyfloss.

Nail Wraps?
No, thank you!

Teas/Spices/Spice Rubs/Specialty Ingredients from a local tea & spice shop?
I love bagged, plain black teas. I also love to cook, so spice rubs are always welcome!

Speaking of spices - where's your spicy/heat threshold? (scale of 1 - 10 - 1 being nothing more than black pepper, 10 being ghost pepper+)
We're a low-spice family, like a 3 or below is best.

Preferred book format? Physical, PDF, Kindle, etc?
I prefer physical books, and used is absolutely fine!

Would you be interested in any handmade critters? Stuffed animals, knit or crochet beasties, or anything remotely similar?
No, thank you. My cats tend to get a hold of these types of things and tear them to shreds. I'd feel terrible!

Since this is the Spring Fools' round, is there anything that goes with the theme of April Fool's Day or spring that might be fun to add to your package? Flowers (seeds, real, or handmade), prank-related items, a court jester's cap?
Nothing comes to mind!

Pet owners - would you like any kind of toy or supply for your pet?
My cats LOVE catnip toys, and I never say no to more of them.

Geek paraphernalia! Almost everyone here has SOME sort of geek-love, whether it is Harry potter, horror movies, graphic novels, science, etc. So would you be interested in any kind of items related to your geek-ish interests?
I'm always open to more items of my geeky passions. My geeky loves include Sailor Moon (have loved it, the Outer Senshi--Haruka/Sailor Uranus and Michiru/Sailor Neptune--specifically, since I was 13), Lord of the Rings/Silmarillion (specifically Elven related items, though I do own all the books Tolkien and his son published in relation to Middle-Earth... and please, no Hobbit movie related merchandise as that movie trilogy gives me a tic... really... I hate those movies with a Tolkien purist's passion), Labyrinth, Angel Sanctuary, Death Note, Black Butler, Loveless, Dragon Age (specifically Fenris-centric >.>), The Crow, The Shining (though nothing Kubrick related as I don't like his interpretation of King's work), and Gaiman's Sandman (from the original run when Dream was all dark and brooding! -- love anything Endless).

Any yarn, plastic, metal, or fabric sensitivities?
Wool and non-silver or gold metals cause allergic reactions in me, so I avoid them when I can.

*****

Edited 3/2

Would you like pretty stationery/note cards, etc. for writing snail mail?
No, thank you. I almost never send out snail mail.

If you could have any BPALs right now (GC, LE, HTF) what would they be? Give examples of at least a few of each category:
GC:
Dorian (I can always use more Dorian!)
Absinthe
Embalming Fluid
Druid
Gobo

LE:
Mistletoe 2007
Shivering Boy 2007
Lydia
Shanghai Tunnel

HTF:
King of Diamonds
Queen of Diamonds
Poisoned Apple v2
Dorian v2

Any places you would like gift cards from?
Amazon, Walmart, Petsmart are the three I would use most.

Do you wear make-up? Any brands you like? Color preferences?
I use high end make-up and don't expect my Witch to buy that for me! I prefer MAC, Makeup Geek, and Urban Decay, and I wear warm colors mostly.

Junk food and candy?
I am a sucker for foreign candy and snack foods. I love Japanese candy and snacks. I'm also a big lover of gummy and sour things, especially sour gummy things.

Witchee, regarding your fave TV shows, would you be interested in the associated DVDs? Fan books?
We're in the process of switching to Bluray, so I'm very interested in getting movies and shows off my wishlist in Bluray.

Do you need any items for your kitchen (linens, gadgets, cooking supplies, etc.)?
I have stuff on my wishlist, but I am DYING for a spatter screen for my fry pan. I've wanted one for years, and I just never get around to buying one.

Gardens/plants: I am dreaming of spring, dear witch: Do you like plants? Do you have any? Indoor potted plants? A balcony bed? A yard? Do you want/need anything?
I have a brown thumb. I kill anything planty. >.> I also have pets so they tend to eat plants.

If I were to make you something based on one or more interests mentioned in your Q'aire/blog, would you prefer something you could wear, something that hangs on a wall, or something that sits on a shelf (or couch or wherever)?
Hang on the wall, definitely.

Are you in need of BPAL storage?
Yes! I love these boxes from Amazon and can always use more: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QSMU0Q8or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014Z8FNK4

Do you like candles? Incense? Wax melts?
Candles. I prefer Yankee Candles. I don't do incense or wax melts.

Do you like/want/need any kind of bags? Purses (big, small, medium), storage type bags, totes, re-usable grocery bags, make up or craft supply bags . . . anything?
Don't need a bag or purse, thank you!

If you like Harry Potter stuff, what house do you belong in? If you like Game of Thrones, what family?
Not into Harry Potter or Game of Thrones.

Here's a question. I make handmade journals/albums/smashbooks/junk journals. Would you be interested in anything like that?
Not in need of a journal or anything like that.

What's your favorite animal/totem? Would you be interested in a small figurine of said animal from this etsy user?
This sweet one called to me: https://www.etsy.com/listing/265023044/snow-fennec-fox-totem-figurine-sculpture

Spring Fool's Witch 2016

I'll start with links/info for my wishlists

I have links in my signature, but I noticed the amazon one doesn't work. My amazon list is called "Ever-Growing,Highly Eclectic" and is under Lisa Marie Almond. If you have trouble finding anything, just ask me via any sneaky means you can think of (Ask the SwitchWitch acct to ask me if you want - I won't know who sent the Q)

Do you like colouring?
Yes, but is not a big deal for me.
If you like Lush, are there any UK-only things you're desperate to get?
I have no idea. I never looked for UK only things.
Crochet goodies yes or no? If yes, what kind of goodies?
I always love hand made items! Scarfs, wraps, shawls, mittens, fingerless gloves, pretty much anything. ALthough i could particularly use a hat right now.

Do you have any allergies to animals/smoke/food etc?
Smoke sensitivity, but not an actual allergy.

Graphic novels: I have enjoyed X-men, Serenity, and Castle Waiting, among others

Nail Polish & Wraps: No thanks - although if you have an idea or product that might help me stop gnawing on my fingernails, that would be awesome

BPTP: bath oils, TKO atmo, anything that is mentioned on my wishlist or has notes I like.

Teas/Spices/Spice Rubs/Specialty Ingredients from a local tea & spice shop?

Since this is the Spring Fools' round, is there anything that goes with the theme of April Fool's Day or spring that might be fun to add to your package? I love plants, and as I said before, I would love to get some lavender in my yard, but with 2 young children I don't have much time out there right now. Maybe an indoor, easy to care for plant? Nothing that might be bad for the 3 year old to take a bite of, since she still does that sort of thing occasionally.

Scents I've Tried

I'm putting together a list of scents I own/have tried! Not necessarily from BPAL, but hopefully this will help me start to see a pattern in what notes I enjoy Highlighted/colored ones are the ones I feel very strongly about (in whatever category they may be in). Underlined are full bottles I own

BPAL Scents:

Liked: Jareth - BPAL - Masculine as heck, but still my favorite perfume. Nothing like getting whiffs of leather and musk throughout the day Ethereal lilac fougere and gleaming leather with ti leaf, tonka absolute, white musk, and oudh. Satyr - BPAL - Another super masculine scent I adore. I hear snake oil is more of a feminine version of it, so I'm thinking that might be buy #2 since this is maybe a little too masculine for me to wear normally. A ferociously masculine scent: sexual, vigorous, and truly wild. Florence- BPAL - For some reason, on first application this scent reminds me of... something! I have no idea what, but I KNOW it smells like somewhere I've been! I've never been to Florence, but it definitely smells like... maybe a candy I like. Kind of like those violet mints. Elegant iris, bright berreis, gilded amber and velvety spices. Snake Oil - BPAL - Like there was any doubt I wasn't going to love this The vanilla peeks through ~10 mins after applying and, mixed with the spiciness of it, is soooo good. Lady Lucille Sharp - Crimson Peak - BPAL - I want to smell like this FOREVER! It's the perfect gap between old lady rose perfume and young Victorian Woman rose perfume. While it does smell vaguely like my great grandmother, she also had great taste in perfumes (it's genetic, clearly). On my skin it's somewhat sour, in a good way, while wafting around me is the scent of lilies. It's truly a scent made for it's namesake. Faded red roses and a glimmer of garnet with black lily, ylang ylang, smoky plum musk and black amber. Ghosts - Crimson Peak - BPAL - This is extremely floral, and I'm surprised I like it! It remains floral from the time it goes on to well after dry down... definitely that chrysanthemum popping through. But it's not overpowering. I don't smell any of the incense, but that's OK because I find it usually seems to drown out everything on my skin! Chrysanthemum petals, crushed violet leaf and funeral incense. Blood Moon 2008 - BPAL - This is way sweeter than I expected but phew, is it delicious! The feral scent of the heat of the chase, deep woods, undulating musks, brushed by forest flora, swirled in the incense of the anointed cherub that covereth and touched by blood-dimmed lunar oils. Shoggoth - BPAL - Candy goodness! This smells like the perfect mix between my lemongrass tea and some hard candies I've had in the past. White amber, green coconut meat, iris, palmarosa, Chinese peony, water lily, snowdrop, muguet, lemongrass, osmathus, wisteria, glassy musk and hinoki. Envy - BPAL - This smells like when I would spend the whole day as a kid at the public pools, in a good way! Grass and water and suntan lotion all mixed into one. I thought I wasn't a "green" fan, but this is really SUCH a wonderful, summery scent! Green herbs slithering through mint, lime and lavender. White Rabbit - BPAL - Yummy!!!! Finally a foodie scent that I like!!!! Oh, it smells milky without being baby-powder-y. This is definitely all I ever wanted in a Wonderland scent! Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of lean linen. Dirty - BPAL - Mmmmm. I've always loved a good clean linen scent in my candles, and it seems to work well on my body, too! This smells like vacation at a fancy hotel. Brand new, high thread count sheets! <3 A fresh, crisp white linen scent: perfectly clean, perfectly breezy. Bordello - BPAL - I smell just like sugary homemade jam!! I love this!!!! I'm thinking plum might be one of my best scents so far- it's also in Lucille. While this is a very DIFFERENT plum, it's still amazing. Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant. Hymn - BPAL - Oh, this is definitely something I'd wear to church if I went to church. Maybe next time I'm visiting my Catholic friends on a weekend I'll bring this along. This would have been amazing for exploring the churches in Germany - would have really set the scene. The rose is held down from doing it's usual weird thing by the other scents, and the frankincense doesn't shove everything out of the way like it normally does!! Perfect rose absolute and Palestinian Lily of the Valley with olibanum, labdanum, frankincense and myrrh. Venus Verticordia - BPAL - DANDELIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fickle dandelion florets dancing through honey-drenched wildflowers. Ode on Melancholy - BPAL - A gorgeous mixed floral that's not overly sweet and powdery! Love the little bit of sandalwood in there. Lavender and wisteria, heart-wrenching pale rose, desolate white sandalwood and thin, tear-streaked white musk. Morocco - BPAL - Not something I'd wear, but I do like it. It reminds me of one of my grandmother's perfumes. Kinda coconutty? Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia. Zombi - BPAL - Ooh, now this is an interesting one. I do smell the rose above all else, but there's something there that tames it. Very earthy. Is it the moss or the earth I really like? Only way to know.. try more moss scents Dried roses, rose leaf, Spanish moss, oakmoss and deep brown earth. Chuparosa - BPAL - Okay, this I might have to give another go later because it seems to maybe be burning my hand??? Can't tell if it's just dry skin (most likely) or the perfume. But either way it smells really, really good!! It's a floral/clean linen-y scent. The Hummingbird of Love, the Rose Sucker. A potent, benevolent, merciful love blend. Nuclear Winter - BPAL - MMM. This totally smells like total atomic annihilation. A very "cold" scent... It's something I would wear when I'm breaking up with someone The ice, desolation, and barrenness of nuclear devastation shot through by a beam of radioactive mints. Cathode - BPAL - I'm always afraid mint is going to explode on me, but so far, it seems to be working well. This is a sweeter mint than I'm used to, it definitely smells "electrical". The longer I wear it, the more I keep sniffing my arm. I do really think this might go up into my favorites... Ambergris, spanish moss, oakmoss and three electric mints. Old Demons of the First Class - BPAL - Ooooohhhh this is so good. I don't actually know what any of the notes smell like individually, but the mix is amazing. Siberian musk, black clove, opoponax, tonka, black pepper and neroli. The Waltz - Crimson Peak - Champagne musk, ambergris accord, white rose, rosewood, and vanilla amber. Fairy Tales and Lies - Crimson Peak - Lilac water and rose petals swirled with a gleaming amber chypre and touch of Italian bergamot. Between Your Heart and Mine - Crimson Peak - Heartwood bois de rose and vanilla-touched rose. Courtney - ParaNorman - Tanning lotion and (very) pink bubblegum.

Neutral: Odin - BPAL - Good and spicy, but too masculine for me. I like the woody scent of it. His scent is dry elm bark, amaranth, warrior’s musk, and Odin’s Nine Herbs of Power Voodoo Lilly - BPAL - This was an instant no for me straight out of the bottle. The dry-down is actually pretty good, but I can't get over the initial smell in bottle and on my skin. A breathtakingly exotic, wild, and grossly erotic spicy gold, purple-black, and burgundy lily. Midnight Mass 2014 - BPAL - It smells just like incense, which I love, but not so much on me. Traditional Roman Catholic sacramental incense. Ossa Arida - BPAL - Once again, my skin explodes the incense and covers everything else up! Gah! Frankincense, golden amber, bourbon vanilla, gurjum balsam and Bulgarian rose. The Manuscript - Crimson Peak - BPAL - I desperately want to love this. DESPERATELY. Thank goodness for imps, I almost bought it blindly. It really smells like an old book, but there's something else that peeks out on my skin that gives me a headache. I WANT TO LIKE IT. BUT I CAN'T! Leather and paper and splotches of ink, with a hint of ghostly chill. Love Makes Monsters of Us All - Crimson Peak - BPAL - It's not awful, it's just not a scent for me. There is a sweet decay quality about it which is neat, but not something I want to wear. Soil and rot and the heat of rage, blood-smeared musk and sharp decay. Wicked - BPAL - A nice scent, but not something I can see myself really wearing. I struggled between "like" and "neutral" for this, but in the end, the rose starts to smell weird on me, as usual Rich myrrh and jasmine draped in the subtlest rose. Hades - BPAL - I don't really know how to describe this one? It's good, and fades into a sweet heat sort of scent, but there's a hint of something underneath it during the dry down I'm not a fan of. I need to try this again, though, on dry down it's starting to transform... Maybe when I have a fresh nose, haha. Black narcissus and cypress, stephanotis, opoponax, labdanum, onycha and ambergris. Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller - BPAL - I couldn't quite tell what was off when I put this on, but I saw someone describe it as "cherry lozenges" and that's definitely what I'm getting. I ordered this before I knew that patchouli doesn't agree with me, and there's just enough of that weird funk it releases plus the medicinal smell that I'm really not fond of. It's not BAD, just not great. Red musk, vanilla bean, pomegranate, black currant, patchouli leaf and wild plum. Quintessence of Dust - OLLA - BPAL - Something in this is good, but also not super desireable. The dust is REALLY strong. I'm still debating on whether or not to keep the bottle. Maybe it's the beeswax that I like/don't like at the same time. It is a very book-y scent, one that's better than the Manuscript, though! Beeswax and smoke, yellowed paper and well-worn leather books, droplets of spilled ink, faded incense, blood-tinged salty tears, and the metal of the knife that skewers that illiterate zombie philistine's portrait. Dracul - BPAL - Somehow I smell anise despite that not being a listed scent? It's a pretty good scent but not something I'd probably ever wear. The tobacco isn't quite what I want on my body. It's a bit too cabin-man-masculine for me- I think generally the "masculine" scents I like are dark leather. Like biker chick 8) Black musk, tobacco, fir, balsam of peru, cumin, bitter clove, crushed mint and orange blossom. Dragon's Hide - BPAL - It's a nice scent, just not overwhelmingly so. Dragon's blood, leather, and a hint of smoke. Machu Picchu - BPAL - Eh. It's soapy. That's about all there is No fruit, no amber, no nothin. (Okay, update: the fruit does eventually come out. But barely!) Sweet tropical fruits burst through deep, wet rainforest boughs, enormous steamy blossoms, over thin mountaintop breezes, mingled with the soft, rich golden scent of Peruvian amber. Endymion - BPAL - Oh! The pear is so lovely. But pear and rose are NOT playing nice on my skin. They're mingling into a weird, soapy scent. I definitely need to look into a pear scent that's not fighting with florals, I bet it would be amazing on my skin!! A sweet, wistful blend of d'Anjou pear, Lily of the Valley, bois du rose and white musk. The Sea Foams Blood - Blood rising through an ocean wave. Ghost Revelry - Damp mosses, fallen leaves, and soft woods siwrled with an ethereal mist of white sandalwood, lilac, orris root and moonflower. Adam - OLLA - This smells exactly like my grandfather used to, which is somewhat startling to be honest. Black leather, pale sandalwood, ambergris accord, Victorian fougere, guitar wood, bow rosin, musty wool, the plastic/metal/magnetic tape of his reel-to-reel, and the dust that permeates everything. Eve - OLLA - Irish moss, yarrow, hawthorn, honey, myrrh, calamus, frankincense, damask roses, white sandalwood, Moroccan saffron, rose water and a swirl of incense.

Disliked:
The Red Queen - BPAL - WAY too sugary sweet! Deep mahogany and rich, velvety woods lacquered with sweet, black-red cherries and currant. Tweedledum - BPAL - It's a Houdini scent! It totally disappeared a little after applying. If I really stick my nose to my skin I can catch it, but it's barely there! What little remains is great, but would need constant re-application. Green mango, fig, patchouli and green tea. Veritas - BPAL - Starts out as something AMAZING on my skin. The frankincense really shines through. Then, tragedy, as it fades into something ozone-y. I have no clue what makes it smell the way it does on dry-down but it's really upsetting because I thought for a while I had a winner! Frankincense, white carnation, angelica, chamomile and heliotrope. Poisoned Apple - BPAL - Starts off with an awesome apple scent, then fades into something powdery on my skin. It disappears fairly fast, too! Red apple, narcotic opium, oleander, hemlock. Black Moths - Crimson Peak - BPAL - Blech, something is off. I have no idea what half the scents are but it might be the vetiver or tonka, which haven't always agreed with me in the past. Maybe the patchouli? Wild plum and blackcurrant with aged black patchouli, vetiver, red rose petal, tonka absolute and opoponas. The Coiled Serpent - BPAL - All I can smell is patchouli. I like it on other things, just not on ME! This would be a great atmo if it is one, though. Or something to spray on my clothes, maybe. Lust - BPAL - In the bottle; ooh, I think I'm gonna like this! On my skin: GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF!!!!!!! I'm choking!!! Body, what are you DOING!! Red musk, patchouli, ylang ylang and myrrh. Golden Priapus - BPAL - Eugh. This smells like someone rolled around in pine needles with a bad cologne. And eventually it just becomes pine resin. Vanilla and amber with juniper, rosewood and white pine. Schrodinger's Cat - BPAL - How can such a cool sounding scent with notes I like go SO WRONG???? AUGH. I put this on, sniffed, and immediately coughed. My trust was betrayed! I blame the chocolate. Tangerine, sugared lime, pink grapefruit, oakmoss, lavender, zdravetz, and chocolate peppermint. Ouija - BPAL - First sniff: coughing. Second sniff: Smoke, like cigarette smoke. And something like a mean mint coming through. Not a good clean one like I enjoy. I thought I liked woody scents! What's happening! Rosewood, oak and teak notes with wispy blue lilac, tea rose, dried white rose and ethereal osmanthus. Kill-Devil - BPAL - I was worried I was going to love this and then regret not finishing my application for an internship at Kill Devil Hills. Thankfully, my "not-a-foodie" nature saved the day, I guess. I smell like a moldy cake. Always with the mold! It's so unfortunate. I can smell the sweetness under there. Sugar cane, molasses, oak wood and honey. Miskatonic University - Ugh, too foodie. Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls. Queen of Sheba - Golden honeyed almonds and a whisper of African and Middle Eastern spices.

Common Brimstone:

Liked: Court of the Fox Maiden - Common Brimstone - A mix of Court of the Dragon and Fox Maiden. Super spicy on me, I LOVE it! Benzoin, dragon's blood, violet, Chinese musk, mandarin, plum, and cherry blossom. She-Wolf- Common Brimstone - The cranberry is SUPER strong on me, while the apple comes out on my mom. I love that it's got a slightly sour, crisp feeling to it- a very wintry perfume! Red apple, pomegranate, mulberry, cranberry, pink pepper, autumn leaves, spice Paradise Regained - Common Brimstone - This is summer in a bottle! I can't believe it got discontinued. It's everything I ever wanted. Pomegranate and coconut are definitely top players. Pomegranate, pikaki, passion fruit, dragon's blood, cananga, coconut Strange Bright Fruit - Common Brimstone - I would own a full bottle of this, but it's a little too much like Paradise Regained to buy it until Paradise Regained runs out! A sweet, summery scent. Lime, watermelon, coconut milk, pink sugar, freesia Sun Catcher - Common Brimstone - I got a little carried away with the summer scents in the middle of winter. Another one that's similar to Paradise Regained, but there's just enough of a difference. I don't really know how to describe it. Fruit salad? Sweet? Aloe, cucumber, pineapple, raspberry, satsuma, honeydew melon

Neutral: Bastet - Common Brimstone - I originally really liked this until someone told me it smelled baby powdery. It started off as milky but now all I can smell is baby powder! Not awful, I just don't particularly feel like smelling like I'm near children all the time. Honey, shea butter, chai tea, saffron, rose, coconut milk Avalon - Common Brimstone - This is SUPER lavender-y smelling. That's not even a note listed in it but all I smell like is flowers. It's alright, I like flowers, but way more overwhelming than I expected. Apple blossom, grape, grass, storm, water, pear blossom Druid - Common Brimstone - This smelled great the first time I wore it. Then I bought a bottle and now all I can smell is soggy pencils. Which, to be fair, has it's charms on a rainy day. But only rainy days. Opoponax, labdanum, oakmoss, poppy, fig

Disliked: Unbirthday '15 - Common Brimstone - AUGH!!! NO!!! I smell like the worst cake! It's so good in the bottle, on me, it's moldy Green tea, buttercream, almond, hazelnut, white chocolate. Abhaile - Common Brimstone - Moldy cake once again! carrot cake, hot chocolate, cinnamon, chestnut, French vanilla Selkie - Common Brimstone - A little too ozone-y for me. lilac, lily, ocean, fresh water, air Odezia - Common Brimstone - It's not AWFUL. It's just not really something I like. blackberry, clove, amber, sweet pea and sage. Sphynx - Common Brimstone - A musk that doesn't agree with me! I feel betrayed! Egyptian musk, turmeric, cumin, pink lotus, nutmeg, orchid, lily, hibiscus Cybele - Common Brimstone - This smells somehow foodie to me? Not sure. The vetivert I think is what's throwing it off. smoky notes of vetivert and animalistic musk, softened with just a touch of vanilla and made bright and wild with lime and frangipani Petite Mort - Common Brimstone - I can't smell the leather, honey, or rose at all on me! caraway, cardamom, leather, honey, rose

Haus of Gloi:

Liked: Persephone's Descent - Haus of Gloi - Okay, I'm starting to notice a pomegranate trend here. And musk! It's just subtly fruity. EDIT: OH MY GOD I GOT THE OIL SAMPLE OF THIS AND I WILL KILL FOR IT. It smells SO much better on me as a straight perfume oil than the other products I was using!!! It's SO fruity!! Pomegranate, pale musk, narcissus blossom and black amber. Cozy Sweater - Haus of Gloi - It smells like all sweaters should smell like! The musk is soft and comes out well with the amber. Pale skin musk, faded perfume, Egyptian amber, softly burning nag champa incense and a fine aged vanilla. Imp - Haus of Gloi - My tropical obsession comes out again. I need to stop ordering scents in the winter. Peculiar passion fruit mingling with sun cured apricots, perfectly pink grapefruit juice and innocent whispers of wet mimosa blooms. Moon Dog - Haus of Gloi - I don't really have the vocab to describe this, but in the bottle it's mediocre, and after drying on my skin, it's FLAWLESS. A more water-y scent. Solar storms erupt: cracked coconut, dry sandalwood essence, heated with nutmeg and clove. Risque - Haus of Gloi - This is like the female Jareth! I love it! Leather for days! Red musk, leather, black vetiver and red rose. Depravity - Haus of Gloi - Ooh, this is pretty good. At first I thought I smelled chocolate, which I don't like on my skin, but that quickly vanished into something sensual and spicy. For some reason, it reminds me of a summer camp I used to work at. Maybe one of the other counselors wore something like it? I mean, it WAS a hippie camp, so everyone was wearing SOME type of oil, haha. Clove, nutmeg and coconut on a bed of rich golden amber, sandalwood, and spilled wine.

Neutral: Three Treasures- Haus of Gloi - It's a little too incense-y for me. Sacred gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold. Smoldering with warmth and brightened with a touch of mandarin rind. Old Cider Haus- Haus of Gloi - The notes kind of mish-mash together so they fight rather than harmonize. Apple and hay with a little vanilla is mostly what I can make out. Still pretty dang good, though. Old oak, sweet drying hay fields, crushed apple pulp and vanilla husks. Rose City - Haus of Gloi - I love the smell of "old rose" but it doesn't necessarily love me. Plus it's a little overwhelming on it's own. Red roses and the earthy wet scent of aged patchouli. Ruth - Fresh strawberry, green patchouli, rose geranium and crushed violet leaf.

Disliked: Picaroon - Haus of Gloi - I tried this scent because someone compared it to Salt Water from Firebird. Lies! It's fine in the bottle but does something funky on my skin. Sun scorched mahogany bough crusted with a crystalline sea spray. Faint plundered rare spices, lemongrass, coconuts, fine Mexican lime and Haitian bay rum. Peach Mama - Haus of Gloi - While peach usually seems to work on me, something in this one doesn't. Maybe it's the labdanum? Peach nectar and a host of resins: offertory frankincense, styrax, copaiba balsam and ambered labdanum absolute. Warmed with cassia and a barely audible breath of black patchouli. Who Needs Love - Haus of Gloi - Too chocolatey. A mahogany box filled with chocolaty orbs, coated in crystallized coffee, filled with a pomegranate and raspberry filling. Absinthe - Haus of Gloi - I desperately want to like this! However it's maybe a little too... green?... for me. Wormwood and anise swim in a creamy green sea of lemon balm and soft glowing mints. A hefty lump of sugar and the tiniest drop of suggestive deep green moss. Insalata Nocturna - Haus of Gloi - I'm starting to think "green" isn't my scent. In the night garden, green Bolivian lemon, rubbed tomato leaf, olive leaf absolute, black fig syrup and basil.

Firebird Bath and Body:

Liked: Saltwater - Firebird Bath and Body - You can smell the salt! An aquatic scent that actually works on me!!! A non-floral, non-tropical ocean scent consisting of marine notes, cedar and myrtle, that softens and mellows on the skin and becomes ethereal and almost haunting. Gingerale - Firebird Bath and Body - You can SMELL the fizz! This is basically ginger ale, I ADORE it! Bright Citrus, Fresh Ginger, Fizz Woodland - Firebird Bath and Body - I'm so sad this was discontinued before I bought a whole bottle! It smells just like the woods, or the memory of the woods. Galbanum, moss, evergreen. Sugar Maple - Firebird Bath and Body - Another one that's discontinued! This is a smokey maple. Maple is one of my favorite things in the whole world!

Disliked: Woodsmoke and Vanilla - Firebird Bath and Body - Too smokey for me, but the title doesn't lie! Firewood, Fir Needle, Vanilla

Arcana:

Liked: Breakfast in Hollywood - Juicy pink grapefruit shimmies up against a bevy of California citrus fruits, sparkling champagne and ripe strawberries. The indulgent essence of breakfast with a screen goddess.

Neutral: Bawd - Bright red cherry, brassy tobacco, Anjou pear, and white amber.

OHWTO:

Liked: Message in a Bottle - Salt water magnolia, sweetgrass, tempered by a hint of black agar and amber and brightened with a splash of citrus sweetness. Dandelion Wine - Sweet green grass, Dandelions, Tobacco, a hint of Smoke, Atlas Cedarwood, Heliotrope, and a wee touch of Patchouli to ground it.

Disliked: Sea Legs - Briny air, a steady Ocean breeze, salt-encrusted Wooden masts, and barrels of precious Ambergris collected from the lacy surface of the waves.

Possets:

Disliked: Virginia (Rev 1) - ???? Honeysuckle??? Oh man does it smell like rotten honeysuckle though!!! (((

Others:

Liked: Lust - Lush - Jasmine! And nothing but. Love it. Yellow Diamond - Versace - I have the roll on after smelling it in a little mail-in ad and falling in LOVE. I call this my "rich, successful business lady" perfume Like a burst of light, the fragrance gleams and glistens as it opens with notes of bright citron, a fresh pear sorbet, sparkling bergamot, and an accent of neroli. As its heart emerges, the rare elegance of orange blossom shines through the light of freesia and mimosa with the natural transparency of nymphea. The lingering base notes add a fascinating sense of sensuality with ambery woods, the sunny and vibrant character of palo santo wood, and the refined presence of musk.

Disliked: Holly Jolly Christmas - Debauchery Bath - ?????

Scents I really enjoy or work well with my chemistry

BPAL
Perversion - Smoky rum and black tobacco with a whisper of steamy leather with a splash of crystalline chardonnay, layered over a sensual, sweet, and deceptively magnetic base of tonka.
Snow Glass Apples - green apples, mint
Mouse Circus - pink cotton candy noses, vanilla spun sugar fur, scattered kernels of popcorn, and a touch of polished golden wood.
Yemaya - melons and grapes, strewn with the petals of the flowers of motherhood, draped with sea mosses.
Snow White- A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers

Lavanila
Vanilla Blackberry - Top notes are blackberry and raspberry; middle note is iris; base note is vanilla.

Solstice Scents
Cardamom Rose Sugar - Brown Sugar, Cardamom EO, Moroccan Rose and Bulgarian Rose
Kitchen - Pumpkin, Sugar Cookies, Peach Preserves, Spice Breads, Danishes, Caramel, Vanilla & Sweet Wood Smoke
Midnight Oil - Cocoa Absolute, Blood Orange EO, Yellow Mandarin EO, Aged Patchouli EO, Labdanum Absolute, Coffee EO & Mushroom
Violet Mallow - Marshmallow Cream, Violet Flowers, Vanilla Bean, White Musk

Nocturne Alchemy
Black Raven - Perfume of sweet Black Frankincense. Tendrils of Patchouli and Aged Black Musk. Wisps of Incense. Amber Musk. With a ghost kiss of White Fig essential oil. Black Sugar, Black Amber, Crimson Red Musk and Black Crystal.

Philosophy
Amazing Grace - Top notes are mandarin orange, grapefruit and bergamot; middle notes are freesia, jasmine and rose; base note is musk.

Bvlgari
Rouge - Roiboos, a South African variety, which gives off its warm and gentle woody character, while Yunnan, a Chinese one, offers its intense and voloptous aroma to the composition. Eau Parfumee au The Rouge opens with the notes of pink pepper, orange and bergamot followed by red tea and fig, while the trail is sensual and warm; harmonizing the notes of walnut and musk. The nose behind this perfume is Olivier Polge.

Green Jade - fresh aromas of green mandarin and spring water, adding white peony, pear blossom and jasmine in the heart. Base notes incorporate pistachio, blond wood and musk.

Ralph Lauren
Ralph Wild - Top: Watermelon, strawberry. Middle: Red Rose, Jasmine, Cherry Blossom. Base: Sandalwood, Musk
Ralph Hot - spices, lime, amber, fig leaf, mandarin orange, musk, orchid, almond blossom, vanilla, jasmine, lemon, sandalwood and geranium.
Blue - It opens with notes of lotus, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley, pink peony and gardenia. The middle notes wrap with accords of rose de Mai, tuberose and orange blossom, and the base adds a sensuous warm trail of sandalwood, musk, ambrette seed vetiver and oakmoss.

Calvin Klein
Obsession - top notes are green notes, mandarin orange, vanilla, peach, basil, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are spices, coriander, sandalwood, orange blossom, jasmine, oakmoss, cedar and rose; base notes are amber, musk, civet, vanilla, vetiver and incense.

Miss Dior
Cherie - The top notes are wild strawberry leaves and green tangerine. The heart features caramel pop corns surrounded by violets, wild strawberry, so strong and seductive and pink jasmine. The base is created of fresh patchouli leaves and crystalline musk.

February 3rd 2016 More Bpal in the mail

Lady Death and Ian arrived today. Lady Death was lovely straight way (very musky and maybe a touch of vanilla) but Ian well.. Wasn't bad but had a note in it that was very strong. Note that is familiar to me but I can't place it and I do smell of the leather in the background. I think Ian would age well so I'm going to let him set and sniff him later.   I also received imps of Nosferatu and The Sea Foams Blood. I have not sniffed them yet. I will report on them later.   (Revised) To report on Ian, I smell butterscotch schnapps and leather. When I first received it I even thought I smelled motor oil but it has settled I don't smell it that strong anymore.

I have so many books that it's going to be impossible to finish them all before... well, you know. I would need to live for at least another 150 years to get all of these read, especially at the rate of one per week. Baby steps, kiddo, baby steps.

Yule 2015 breakdown

THE BEAR PRINCE
Shaggy fur, snow-flecked and rose-touched.
I am interested, but I will have to read some reviews first. Bit of a wild card.
CHANUKKIYAH
Olive oil, beeswax, glowing amber, sweet sufganiyot, pomegranate, and fig.
Nah, never had an interest in this one.

THE CROSS OF SNOW
Cypress, Spanish moss, and clove bud with labdanum, Italian bergamot, and white tobacco flower.
This sounds nice until I get to white tobacco flower - I have a feeling that will be soapy on me. I'll read reviews.

DED MOROZ
Light, darkness, kindness, and malice: golden amber, white amber, redwood, teak, bois du rose, sage, tree moss, and snow.
1 bottle is enough. I do like this one.

DIABLE EN BOÎTE
A strangely sinister, unnerving holiday scent: redwood, bitter clove, tonka, hemp accord, and tobacco with peach blossom, black currant, and red musk.
I haven't been interested in the past, I will read some reviews but for some reason the peach blossom turns me off. It doesn't sound like it goes with those other notes. Perhaps I am wrong.

EL DIA DE LOS REYES
Hot cocoa with cinnamon, coffee, and brown sugar.
I had a decant once upon a time, wasn't crazy about it. Too gritty or something.

FAUNALIA
The scent of a thick, starlit, unspoiled forest, with a burst of wild musk, opobalsamum, black bryony, mandragora, and hemlock.
Sounds good, but I already have a decant somewhere, tried it and it didn't work all that well for me at the time. Maybe I'll dig it up and try again (if I still have it, which I'm not sure of).

FRAU HOLLE
Snow-covered pines, witches herbs, bestial musk, flax, and ethereal flowers that represent both birth and death.
Pretty much same as what I wrote for Faunalia above.
GELT
A bounty of chocolate coins! Dry cocoa and golden amber!
Nah - not interested in this one. It smells good on my friend Moonarcana, though.
IN WINTER IN MY ROOM
Pink, lank, and warm: grapefruit, yuzu, tuberose, peony, violet leaf, pikaki, Indian frankincense, and tonka.
Hmm, I'd try this if it was in front of me but I'm not going to pursue it. Just not grabbing me.

KRAMPUS
Sinister red musk, black leather, dusty rags, and wooden switches.
Yes! I want a bottle. I have a decant from a few years ago and I've always liked it.

LA BEFANA
Candy charcoal, winter lilies, parma violet, a sprig of cypress, a poof of chimney dust, and holiday sweets.
Again - I have a decant somewhere, wasn't crazy about it. Maybe will try it again but not really on my radar.

La Cloche fêlée
- - -
Bitter and sweet it is on these long winter nights
To sit before the fire and watch the smoking log
Beat like a heart; and hear our lost, our mute delights
Call with the carillons that ring out in the fog.
What certitude, what health, sounds from that brazen throat,
In spite of age and rust, alert! O happy bell,
Sending into the dark your clear religious note,
Like an old soldier crying through the night, "All's well!"
I am not thus; my soul is cracked across by care;
Its voice, that once could clang upon this icy air,
Has lost the power, it seems, - comes faintly forth, instead,
As from the rattling throat of a hurt man who lies
Beside a lake of blood, under a heap of dead,
And cannot stir, and in prodigious struggling dies.
- Charles Baudelaire, translation by Edna St. Vincent Millay
A new interpretation, inspired by Millay's translation-
A soul, cracked across by care: blood and ruin, smoke and sorrow, incense and ice.
This sounds promising and interesting. Maybe worth tracking down a decant or partial, and I'll certainly be watching for reviews.

Père Noël
Bright Sicilian oranges and sweet tangerines with a clink of lavender candy and a drop of anise.
Hmm, this sounds bright and pretty. Maybe too candy-sweet? I will watch for reviews.

MIDNIGHT MASS
This perfume is a traditional Roman Catholic sacramental incense, most often used during a Solemn Mass.
I have a bottle and some decants, I have always liked Midnight Mass, but I don't think I need any more right now, unless it's different this time. Some of my decants are different, so I'll be watching reviews.

NOW WINTER NIGHTS ENLARGE
Shorten those tedious nights with a surge of body heat: vanilla-infused red musk, champaca, petitgrain, ylang ylang, patchouli, nutmeg, honey, galbanum, and traces of caramel.
This sounds not quite for me. I don't like very many scents with honey or caramel. Both together = probably not for me.

NUCLEAR WINTER
Annihilation. The ice, desolation and barrenness of nuclear devastation shot through by a beam of radioactive mints.
Never really had an interest in this one.

PAYSAGE
The pale moon pouring magic: Tunisian opium and mugwort with blackened bourbon vanilla, tuberose, glittering white musk, datura accord, wild plum, and tobacco absolute.
Hmmm.....this has potential but I usually don't like opium in scents. I'll watch reviews but will probably pass on this one.

THE PEACOCK QUEEN
In dramatic contrast to the soft innocence of Snow White and the dew-kissed freshness of her sister, Rose Red, this is a blood red, voluptuous rose, velvet-petaled, at the height of bloom.
My one decant of this is enough, although I will try it again to be sure.

POOR MONKEY
cold first winter rain
poor monkey, you too could use
a woven straw cape
Compassion: pink lotus root and fig milk with ylang ylang, bourbon vanilla, soft myrrh, fir, khus, and sandalwood incense.
Ok I love the concept and list of notes, although it's a little sweet and cuddly for me, this time I'm looking at the name, concept and description as a whole, and really have my eye on this one. Possible bottle and I'll be watching reviews for sure. Kind of reminds me of the notes in Chintamanhi Dhupa (which I don't wear that much).

ROSE RED
The perfected winter rose, dew covered and freshly cut.
Same as Peacock Queen but I do like this one a little better and actually wear it from time to time. Not enough to want a bottle.

THE SEASON OF GHOSTS
A scent created to burn away sorrow: bergamot, frankincense, rose geranium, ginger, lemongrass, and blood orange.
Well, I do like citrus but bpal's citrus has a way of smelling like candy on me, for some reason. I'll watch reviews.

THE SNOW-SHOWER
Flake after flake - All lost in the dark and silent lake: a snowflake dissolving into an indigo pool of blue jasmine incense and violet leaf.
This sounds really nice. It would be hard to pass up something with blue jasmine incense. I enjoy jasmine and that sounds especially good. I'll watch some reviews first, I have a feeling some people will get jasmine single note from this.

SNOW WHITE
A chilly, bright perfume: flurries of virgin snow, crisp winter wind and the faintest breath of night-blooming flowers.
Once again, my decant is enough. I like how it smells but I rarely ever wear it.

++ THE YULE LADS
Askasleikir
Favorite pastime: skulking under dining tables, waiting to abscond with unsupervised food bowls. Don't blame the dog!
Dregs of cinnamon and cocoa.
I love cinnamon, but not cocoa. Probably pass on this.
Bjúgnakrækir
Favorite pastime: hiding in the rafters, ogling your smoked sausage. Eyes up here, mister!
Sweaty pear and honey with leather, coconut meat, tonka bean, and castoreum accord.
I will pass for now because of honey, but I'll be watching reviews because Quincey Morris has: "tobacco, vanilla, white pear, cedar, rugged musk and saddle leather". Sounds at least a little close to me and I love Quincey Morris.

Gáttaþefur
Favorite pastime: sniffing doorways. Everyone needs a hobby!
Baked bread, apricot, mandarin amber, and CO2 of butter.
Sounds interesting, warm and sweet, but maybe not really my thing.

Giljagaur
Favorite pastime: creeping around gullies until the opportunity to steal milk appears. You do you, buddy.
Coconut cream, sheep's milk accord, and a drop of Ceylon cinnamon.
I don't really go for bpal's cream or milk notes. This isn't calling my name.

Gluggagægir
Favorite pastime: peeping in yer windows. What a creeper!
Spiced rum leather, frankincense, black cedar, sweet tobacco, and honey-gold sandalwood.
On my first pass-through this one stuck out to me, but I'm not completely sure. I'll have to read some reviews.

Hurðaskellir
Favorite pastime: slamming doors. What a drama queen!
Booming carnation, iced mint, white fir, and itchy patchouli loudly disrupting a dreamy bed of lavender.
Not calling my name. This combination of notes sounds a little strange to me.

Kertasníkir
Favorite pastime: stealing candles from children. Such a scamp!
Beeswax, strawberries, and bits of hard candy.
Never been interested in bpal's strawberry note. I shall pass.

Ketkrókur
Favorite pastime: collecting meat hooks, sharpening meat hooks, polishing meat hooks. Sleep with one eye open?
Labdanum, patchouli, dragon's blood resin, and clove.
Not into dragon's blood these days. Once upon a time I would have been really into this.

Skyrgámur
Favorite pastime: indulging his yogurt fetish. Whatever floats your boat!
Berries, skyr, and oats.
Really don't want to smell like oats and I have a feeling skyr might be a yogurt note? Or cream? I will pass.

Stekkjarstaur
Favorite pastime: harassing sheep. Nobody's perfect.
Wooly sugared marshmallow root.
Don't really care about marshmallow.

Stúfur
Favorite pastime: stealing crusty bits from used frying pans. It takes all kinds.
Chunks of sweet carrots and dates mushed with nuts, topped with crumbles from a pie-like spelt and barley crust.
This is a big 'No' for me, definitely pass.

Þvörusleikir
Favorite pastime: licking spoons and ladles. There's no accounting for taste.
The scent of well-worn wooden utensils, lightly fondled, and a wisp of kitchen herbs.
So wood and herbs? Sounds ok but not really calling me, I will read reviews though.

Pottaskefill
Favorite pastime: eating the scrapings from unwashed pots. Waste not, want not?
Salt licorice, birch tar, black pepper, and leather.
Sounds good, but I'll read reviews first. Licorice sounds good but often doesn't work for me, but I do like the combination of these notes. I'll have an eye on this one.

++ YULE SINGLE NOTES
Ah, the scents of the season! Mix and match to create the perfect perfume to accompany any awkward family gatherings!
FAKE BAYBERRY CANDLE
Not really
IRRESPONSIBLY UNWATERED CHRISTMAS TREE
Not into fir like I used to be
UNSUCCESSFUL CRANBERRY GARLAND
Don't really like cranberry or berry scents
DAY-OLD HAM
Doesn't sound appealing in the slightest
FIREPLACE CINDERS
Probably not but there was a time I would've been all over this. I'll watch reviews
DUSTY ACCUMULATED MENORAH WAX
Nah, I'll pass
RAPIDLY DISINTIGRATING POMANDER
I like the pomander smell but disintigrating sounds dry and powdery, I'll watch reviews
DRUNK UNCLE
??? Not really? but I'll watch reviews
UNMANAGEABLE SNOWDRIFT
Nah, not really into snow notes any more.....

++ SNOW FALLING FAINTLY
THE SNOW AT DAWN
Snow afire with the morning's first rays of orange blossom, neroli, and rose gardenia.
Nah

THE SNOW AT NOON
Blinding white in the noonday sun: white mint, eucalyptus, glittering elemi, white tea, silver fir, and camphor.
No

THE SNOW AT DUSK
Swirled grey and purple in the gloaming: snowdrifts shadowed with opium tar, wild plum, Siamese benzoin, champaca resinoid, muguet, and carnation.
Nah

THE SNOW AT MIDNIGHT
Silence: frozen blackcurrant bud, myrrh, ciste absolute, frankincense, and oudh.
No.

SO........Krampus and Poor Monkey? And a lot of review-watching!

Smelling all the things! or; the Newbie Tester

After a quick accumulation of imps (and some decants), I'm starting to test them all -- one per day. My daughter has claimed the option to test as well if she likes it on me. Our method: she reaches into the box of imps without looking and pulls one out. We sniff it, and unless it's rejected right away I try it on my skin. Then, if she likes it on me, she puts some on as well. I'm keeping my notes here because I'm seriously unqualified to write actual scent reviews!

Here are our test results in order:

1 - Tweedledum: we both rejected it, I think it's the patchouli coming through. Re-pull! Final verdict: ✗
later that night I went to sniff it again and managed to get it on myself. we realized it was like the slightly medicinal but very sweet fruit candies they give us at the asian market. we like them at first but then no.
2 - Thalia: iffy; on me seemed soapy at first. She refused to try it. After several hours it got more floral but still eh. Like a nice hotel soap. Might try again. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
3 - Blood: in the imp we weren't sure, but I put it on first and we liked it; so she put it on too. We both loved it on. After a few hours, we both still love it. Spicier on me, fruitier on her. Final verdict: ✓
4 - Cheshire Cat: liked it in the imp, but at first after putting it on it was just all weird. Kind of like....a papery old lady. But it mellowed out and I began to really like it after a bit. A keeper for me (but not the child), but might not make the ultimate cut. Final verdict: ✓
5 - Grave Pig: rejected in the imp. Daughter said it smelled like IKEA in a bad way. Re-pull! Final verdict: ✗
6 - Harlot's House: Iffy in imp , soapy at first. On me it went sweeter and more floral. Final verdict: ✓
Added bonus! Harlot's House came with a side of conversation about western culture's shaming language about female sexuality. +1 for learning opportunities.
7 - Bonfire: in the imp we liked it. On me, the kid said "no, don't put that on me, it smells like someone put something weird on that fire". After it started drying, the smoke smell got more prominent and either because I'm allergic to something in it or out of sheer psychological suggestion, my eyes started burning! Scrubbed until my wrists were magenta. Final verdict: ✗
8 - Baba Yaga: Couldn't quite get a handle on it in the imp or wet, but dry it was just gorgeous. More herbal on the kid so she didn't like it as much. Final verdict: ✓
9 - Jiggery Pokery: on me only as it was just a drop or two left. I liked the cotton candy note at first, but it dried and went all overly sweet creamsicle on me. I still like the smell but not on me. UPDATE: a second half-imp allowed the girl to test it and she adored it! On her it was a lovely orange-tinted cloud of cotton candy. Final verdict: ✓
10 - Alice: again, just a few drops so a solo test by the kid. On her the milk & honey stayed prominent. I thought it was a bit odd on her but she loved it and wants more. Final verdict: ✓
11 - Cleric: sadly, Cleric was the first bpal that gave me cologne headache. Bad. AND I got it on my sweater. ON the upside, I didn't really like how it smelled anyway (like, well, a basic cologne), so no big loss. Final verdict: ✗
12 - Calaveras: on me only, from an aged bottle. I noticed that in recent reviews this was getting a definite baked goods smell for some people, and that was my experience. Sort of a smoky, chocolatey spice cake, but with something slightly off -- in a good way. Really liked it, not sure how much I would use it though. Final verdict: ✓
Lucky 13 - Bordello: on me only, the kid rejected it right away saying "I feel like if I smell that I will get dizzy". This might be the first one that smelled on me 100% the way it's described. A heady, rich winey fruit-and-nuts smell. Lasted FOREVER. Final verdict: ✓
14 - Debauchery: Total head shop smell. Despite that, liked it, but not really for me. It smelled too much like guy, I think. Smelled lighter and fresher on the kid -- on me things definitely go slightly smokier. Not giving up on it yet though. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
15 - Bliss: kid only and this was not the chocolate she was hoping for. Instead of a milk chocolate, it was a dry and slightly burnt smelling cocoa powder. Very much like the way a scratch'n'sniff chocolate sticker smells. She's keeping it anyway, bc CHOCOLATE. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
16 - R'Lyeh: Me only, and I was really not sure about it at first. It was very vegetable-ish at first, almost like a cucumber/grapefruit salad. But it dried very different, to a clean, salty smell with a hint of something.....incensey? Final verdict: ✓
17 - Sticky Eyeballs and Floppy Entrails: kid only, and a huge hit. It smelled exactly like we thought it would, which is a slightly more natural version of her favorite candies, Hello Kitty Strawberry Marshmallows. Plus she loves the name. Will be getting her a bottle! Final verdict: ✓
18 - Phantasm: Mama only. I was worried at the strong lemon peel smell both in the imp and wet, but it dried to a really pretty sweet/sour jasmine. Unfortunately then it just up and vanished after maybe an hour. I may try again in the spring. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
19 - The Deep Ones: pretty disappointing to us both, pleasant but just really dull. Kid described it as smelling like "we washed our hands with some method soap called Ocean". We actually washed it off and did a re-pull. Final verdict: ✗
20 - Euphrosyne: scary lemon oil smell at first, but it faded quickly, drying to a really lovely deep vanilla/gardenia. Will probably put away until Spring. Final verdict: ✓
21 - Obatala: So fresh smelling! Went on like coconut candies, turned milky and sweet. Very pretty though. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
22 - Bess: mama only; very herbal in the imp, but flowers came up once it was on. Dry it was roses with a bit of citrus and rosemary -- lovely but a fast fader on me. Final verdict: ✓
23 - Dana O'Shee: wet my daughter said it smelled like spice cake, which she thought was fantastic. It dried down to a lovely honey cake smell on her, but on me there was an almond note that wouldn't go away. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
24 - Elf: in the imp it smelled like a tiny bottle of the forest! notes came and went as it dried but it always smelled lovely. Final verdict: ✓
25 - Nyarlathotep: Well it wasn't as chaotic as we thought it might be, but it was nice. Dried to a resinous but slightly citrusy scent, which is -- I think -- the frankinscence coming up strong? A bit masculine but we liked it. Final verdict: ✓
26 - Aeval: it was an herby floral in the imp but just went all soapy. Kid rated it "seriously meh" and we scrubbed it. Final verdict: ✗
27 - Good: it started out kind of sweet and floral but just went all powdery and again, "serious meh". Scrubbed.Final verdict: ✗
28 - Jezebel: Mama only, kid was not interested (which surprised me because she loves roses and they love her right back). Started off sweetened roses, then dried to a dusty antique rose. Very slowly went slightly powdery as the sandalwood lasted longer than anything. At the 9 hour mark this was still going strong! Not sure I'd wear it again though. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
29 - Darkness: In the imp it was all sweet, heavy and spicy, but as it dried it went all animal on me. And not in a good way, in a feral-cat-got-into-the-garden way. Scrubbed it SO HARD. Final verdict: ✗
30 - Pontarlier: from start to finish this was a lovely sunny cottage garden. Saving it for spring! Final verdict: ✓
31 - Vasilissa: It took a weird journey from berries in the imp, candied incense on, to a warm, comforting, ember-like scent dry. A new love for sure! Since Baba Yaga is already in my top list I thought that was pretty cool. Also makes me want to try the whole Vasilissa series! Final verdict: ✓
32 - Roses, Pearls and Diamonds: This yummy rosy scent was another that was very different on us. On me it vacillated between roses and musks and literally alternated between wonderful and meh. But on the daughter it was yummy milky roses all the way. Final verdict: ✓
33 - Blood Amber: well since so far ambers and dragon's blood are two of my best notes this was a no-brainer, and it didn't disappoint. Warm and delicious. Did not even share with my child, I'll be hoarding this imp! Final verdict: ✓
34 - Tweedledee: Mama only -- I should have known not to put it on my skin as it was all orange candies in the imp. But I did it anyway, and while at first the sweetness seemed to lessen, the strong artificial orange candy smell was just too much for me. My daughter will try it, I think it'll be up her alley. UPDATE: no shocker, on the girl it was an amazing gourmet candy. Final verdict: ✓
35 - Battle Fairy in Training: Girl only -- pretty much exactly as described! She's basically a walking cloud of sugar. And my girl loves to be a walking cloud of sugar, so she wears this with Boo in her hair. And a dab of Sticky Eyeballs alongside. She's my little living candy shop! (note: I think it's lovely, but the sugar smells are really not for me, so the candy smells are 100% girl testers now) Final verdict: ✓
36 - Morgause: Mama only (we are often split testing now) -- wet it was floral and fruity, but as it dried the incense came up wonderfully. A definite keeper. Final verdict: ✓
37 - Siren: Mama only -- heavy jasmine was slowly taken over by woody foody smells. Not a new love, but a keeper. Final verdict: ✓
38 - Comparison of Celebrated Beauties: Mama only -- I'm always a little nervous about LE scents, who wants to fall for something that'll be hard to get? Not a problem here, this started off like a weird cream soda and suddenly went all overpowering industrail almond on me. An actual scrubber. Final verdict: ✗
39 - Eat Me: tested together! A fresh, spicy cake, with fruit that shows up during drydown. Went a but odd on me but delicious on the kid. Final verdict: ✓
40 - Temple of Dreams: We both liked this, but not as a wearable scent. I'm going to mix up a pillow spray from it to try instead. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
41 - Wrath: Mama only. I thought I would love this based on the description, those are all notes I love. But something rootlike and medicinal came up immediately and it dried like a plastic bandaid. Weird. Final verdict: ✗
42 - Shub-Niggurath: we both loved this tasty ginger cookie of a scent. On me the cinnamon went a little Red Hots but it still smelled great. Final verdict: ✓
43 - Chimera: After the previous day's cinnamon success I was excited to try this but I think the cinnamon was too strong for me -- the smell was overwhelming and my skin started to itch so off it went! Final verdict: ✗

NOTE: at this point our testing begins to diverge a bit as the girl-child develops definite preferences and has actually accumulated her own set of imps to test without me! She still smells and comments on everything she declines to test herself though.

44 - Skadi: Mama only - this one evolved a lot; from fresh minty berries, to a blizzard of minty snow, to a cool dry wintry pine forest. Lovely, but to be honest the chill factor with this one is real and I pretty much hate being cold. Special occasion only. Final verdict: ✓
UPDATE: Well, when your Yule in the North ends up being 70°, a chilly feeling might be what I need! Wore Skadi for our surprisingly warm Xmas and it was perfect. Highly recommended for anyone having a winter celebration in a warm climate.
45 - The Lion: Mama only - ah, the perfect antidote for chilly Skadi; this warm spice ambery lion was just gorgeous. Like your best fuzzy sweater. I smelled so lovely the child regretted her choice of Battle Fairy for the day. Final verdict: ✓
46 - Ladon: Mama only (the child was overdosing on layers of sugar) - started off pure fresh apple but dried down and everything else came out. The combination was beautiful but it was a bit of a fast fade on me. Love it but may have to carry it with me to refresh it if I wear it. Final verdict: ✓
47 - The Little Wooden Doll (Mama): Finally I got to try another Vasilissa scent! Sadly, the Little Wooden Doll didn't bring me much comfort. Sandalwood and amber in the imp; dried all dusty sandalwood. No roses at all. Either this is the rose note dying on me or an aged imp that lost its rosiness. I may try a fresher imp someday! Final verdict: ✗
48 - Wicked (Mama): started out all jasmine then went suddenly and horribly wrong like a cheap baby powder. Final verdict: ✗
49 - Dirty (tested together): We were worried about a hint of soap at the beginning, but it ended up like freshly washed fruit. Saving for Spring. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
50 - Hellcat (Mama): the honeyed nuts in the imp went all sweet and spicy-smoky. I worried about the almond as it can be nasty on me but here it just went delicious. Final verdict: ✓
51 - Aelopile (Mama): we both liked this a lot but it seemed too masculine for me - started off glorious ambers and then a cedary citrus came on board. I'll keep it but probably won't wear it. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
52 - The Great Sword of War (Mama): A nice scent but way too gritty for me. Final verdict: ✗
53 - Aglaea (Mama): This wet musky amber had no peach to it as reviews say - it was definitely an older imp though, so maybe it had just faded. I like ambers but it did nothing for me. Final verdict: ✗
54 - Muddy Puddles (girl-child): never made it onto her wrist, she dislikes the chocolate/cocoa note in here intensely. After sniffs on a few different days I started a box for bottles we won't be keeping. Final verdict: ✗
55 - Little Lady Macbeth (girl-child): started off with a whiff of something rose-like, then went a bit spice-cake. But once dry it mainly smelled like she had sprayed extra Boo on her hair! Final verdict: ✓
56 - Muse of Fire (girl-child): a sweetly floral scent in the bottle which really did explode into a bundle of flowers dusted with sugar! Final verdict: ✓
57 - Redoul Honey (girl-child): an artisanal honey that slowly got heavier and more floral, but always smelled strongly of honey. She loved it, personally I think I prefer the sugars on her to honey, but it's her arm! Final verdict: ✓
58 - Dragon's Milk: delicious, sweet and cherry-like in the imp; dried to a lighter and sweeter version of our beloved Blood. Final verdict: ✓
59 - Baobhan Sith (Mama): wet all apples and grapefruit; dry it smelled like the most delicious tea ever. But it was a very fast fader. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
60 - Old Demons of the First Class (Mama): wet spiciness gave way to a bundle of cloves and pepper. Not bad but not for me. Final verdict: ✗
61 - Ode On Melancholy (Mama): the floral sandalwood scent came right out of the imp, settling to sadly faded flowers on. But then as it dried the flowers seemed to revive, weirdly, before doing a slow fade. Very pretty, but I recently saw a rec for this as a sleep scent and may repurpose it for that. Final verdict: ✓
62 - The Antikythera Mechanism (Mama): we really liked this one at first, the girl-child saying "it smells like a ship at sea!" But as it dried the tobacco came on strong and I couldn't handle it. Final verdict: ✗
63 - 13 (Nov 2015) (girl-child): I got this to give her as a birthday surprise, thinking all that honey and sugar would be right up her alley. But that was before I knew that the Lab's chocolate was like death on her. It dried to what I thought was a lovely powdery donut, but she disliked it. Heartbreaking! Final verdict: ✗
64 - Cockaigne (girl-child): this one was a hit though, because the Lab's milky notes are a thing of beauty on this kid. A sweet milky smell dried to a delcious cake. Final verdict: ✓
65 - Isidore's Phoenix (Mama): too fruity, on me it went all high-end soapy. Violets, plums and incense didn't play together well on my wrist. Final verdict: ✗
66 - Le Clerc's Phoenix (Mama): in the imp it smelled like a beloved old box; and it dried nicely at first but then the woods became overwhelming. Final verdict: ✗
67 - Statius' Phoenix (Mama): sweet incense with a nice but of old polished cedar. In some ways seemed like a weaker version of Philostratus' Phoenix though. Final verdict: ✓
68 - Philostratus' Phoenix (Mama): the girl-child thought it smelled like sunlit Blood. Spicy and incensy with a sweet comforting note. I am considering a bottle of this one before the deadline. Final verdict: ✓
69 - Tamora: this one was pretty consistent on the two of us, with a slightly nicer finish on me. A flowery amber went vanilla spice; more vanilla on the girl-child, more snuggly spice on me. Final verdict: ✓
70 - Black Pearl (Mama): as it dries the white musk comes whooshing up through the faint coconut. Super-delicious, will probably be great on the girl-child. Final verdict: ✓
71 - Dorian (Mama): I was super-excited to get this frimped; it's delicious in the vial but slowly went a bit play-doh on me. I might try a fresher sample or a later test. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
72 - O: really lovely but the edge went to the girl-child; on me the honey went a little odd but on her it became this very warm vanilla honey. Final verdict: ✓
73 - Faustus (Mama): On paper it sounded great, but it went rank on me. I think violet is not a good note for me. Scrubbed. Final verdict: ✗
74 - Dragon's Blood (Mama): Very spicy cherry! We liked the smell, but not as much as the dragon's blood blends we already love. Will keep for playing with. Final verdict: 2nd chance box
75 - Fresh and Blooming As A Rose (girl-child): I'll try this eventually but she's the Rose Princess so she wanted to try it right away. There was a bit of greenery along with the roses at first, then the green smell faded as a snuggly amber note came up. Lovely at every stage. Final verdict: ✓
76 - The Rose (girl-child): speaking of roses, we never took notes on this one, but it was a success! Very much like her Rose Red HG, a lovely red rose with its leaves and stem. Final verdict: ✓
77 - Whip (girl-child): more roses for the Rose Princess. We both loved Whip on her, it works as a less girly rose. Final verdict: ✓
78 - Hollywood Babylon (Mama): wet it was rich and fruity, almost wine-y; dry it was a vanilla amber with a touch of cherry. Really liked it but I kept thinking it smelled like something I already have. Final verdict: ✓
79 - Season of Ghosts (Mama): It's citrusy goodness warmed up and went incensy, but then it did a fast fade. Liked it, wouldn't get more. Final verdict: ✓
80 - Stage Blood (Mama): A thick, rich cherry version of Blood, we liked it but not as much as other Blood-y blends we have. Final verdict: ✓
81 - Ivory Vulva (girl-child): Ugh, why did I ever let her try on an LE I may never get more of? She loved it and it was delicious -- sort of like if you scraped frosting off of a spice cake, picking up the faintest hints of sweet spices mixed in with the creamy sweet vanilla. All I can do is hope and pray it comes back around some day! Final verdict: ✓
82 - Dormouse (girl-child): starts off a yummy tea, then on the skin the peony blooms! Faint but very pretty. Final verdict: ✓
83 - Anubis (Mama): We were (pleasantly_ surprised by the fresh greenness of the herbs once this hit my skin! We both thought the herbs would be dry and dusty. And the incense notes worked, as always, for me. Final verdict: ✓

To revisit: Thalia, Debauchery, Bliss, Phantasm, Obatala, Dana O'Shee, Jezebel, Dirty, Aelopile, Baobhan Sith, Dorian, Dragon's Blood

BONUS TEST: we did some experimentation with dilution in carrier oils, details are here but the tl;dr - clear jojoba vs fractionated coconut came out basically a tie with a very slight edge to coconut. Other parents have done 1:3 scent to oil, I'm thinking 1:2 will work best for my kid.

12 Days of Christmas 2015

What are some of your favorite stocking stuffers?
Candy, nuts, lip balms (tinted and regular), little tubes of hand lotion, socks and tights, tea, small kitchen items (like measuring spoons, silicone baking spatulas, spices and fancy salts, etc.), bath indulgences, tiny liquor bottles, tiny hair ties, and inexpensive jewelry.

Is there anything in particular from another country that you can't get in your own country you'd like to get? What's most important to me: anything in particular from The Netherlands you'd like to get?
In general, I love to try candy (especially chocolate), teas, spices, packaged cookies, and dried fruit/nut/snack mixes from other countries. I'm more a fan of consumable items than of knickknacks. I’m not sure what is from the Netherlands in particular though!

Have you tried licorice candy before and do you like it?
I like black and salty black licorice, but am not a fan of red licorice. (Also not a fan of gummy candies.)

If you were to receive Christmas/Holiday ornaments or other decorations, do you care *when* you receive them in the swap?
Early would stand more chance of getting put on the tree this year. We usually put it up mid-December and leave it up until sometime between the 26th of December and the first of January depending on how lazy we are being and how quickly the needles are shedding.

Anyone like popcorn and what kinds?
I do like popcorn, although I will admit that we mostly cook the microwave stuff because we don’t have an air or stove popper anymore. I like butter + salt and pepper and cheese toppings. There is a place near us that does things like truffle salt and butter or Sri Racha Lime butter and it is amazing. For pre-bagged already popped stuff, salt, pepper, and cheese are best. Caramel sticks in my teeth…but gets eaten anyway.

Anyone a fan of http://www.cthulhulives.org/solstice/
I had never heard of it, but it looks entertaining. However, sheet music is not for me, and I don’t currently have a working CD player.

is there any kind of photo you'd like to have? Landscape, critter, flowers, other? If so, what size would be good for your environment? Or would you like a set of notecards instead of a print?
I am actually starting to run out of useable wall space in my house for art, which is a very odd problem to have! That said, notecards would be lovely. I like landscapes, foxes, flowers, really almost anything.

Would you be interested in anything from this site?
Maybe the disappearing Klingon mug? But really, my mug cupboard is already so full I've started having to stack things!

Would you be interested in receiving cards against humanity's "holiday bullshit"?
Maybe? I've never played Cards Against Humanity, but in theory is sounds fun. I don't have enough friends????

Would you be happy or annoyed or anything in between to receive a tentacle kitty?
They are very cute. If one came to me, it would immediately be claimed by my niece. She has already taken over my Nagini, which I don't mind because watching a 2 year old walk in the front door and shriek "My Nagini! Mine!" and hug the snot out of a stuff snake is pretty much unbeatable for cute.)

Switch Witch Ketchup #5 - worst witchee ever

How does everyone feel about duct tape crafts? Any favorite patterns?
I fear it would be something to collect dust and take up excessive space in my house. No, thanks.   Are there any flowers you especially like?
When I was 10, I was told that poppy was my birthday flower, and I've had a fondness ever since.   Would you be interested in any cozies or cases (yarn o fabric, not hard cases) for tech stuff (phone, laptop' etc) or for cups/mugs/bottles or anything else similar.
I tend to make my own covers and cases for tech, so no, thanks.   Would you like Halloween or Day of the Dead themed ornaments or a "bunting"?
No thanks.   Are there witchees who would like book related gifts like a booklight, bookmark, bookseat or something for your reading gadget, like a cover or a light for example.
Ooh, I'd love these, but I fear my witch is already spending crazily on postage!   I make handmade journals, mini albums and similar items. Would my witchee be interested in something like that?
Interested, yes. However, I have an excess of journals already, so probably not a good idea!   What songs/music/artists/CD's do you like to listen to around Halloween?
Same ones as I listen to the rest of the year? But if you have anything you think I'd like, make me a playlist on a thumb drive or something!   Are you interested in leg warmers at all?
not really.

Is your Halloween style scary, cutesy, folksy, grotesque . . .?
None of the above? I was really hoping to do a Halloween theme to our house, but I fear that won't be possible given that my stepbrother/stepsis-in-law's birthdays dinner is scheduled for that night. And I was really quite looking forward to the kids trick-or-treating...   I bought the Portal board game last week & it came with a Portal 2 steam free download code. I already have the game on another console & it's one of my favorite series of all time. Soooo, would you want it?
Don't play.
Have you read The Martian? Or do you plan on watching the movie?
So many of my friends loved it that I feel I should go see it. My interest was 'meh' before it hit the screens, though.   NaNoWriMo - Pertaining to that, how does everyone feel about such things? Will anyone be participating? How about NaNo swag, is there any you want?
Yes, I'm participating. Thanks, but no swag. (I'm so sorry I'm an awful swap participant.)   Honey or beeswax products? Discuss.
LOVE. Not sure it would make it through customs, though, and I have an awful lot of 'specialised' honey in jars that isn't being eaten at home.   How do you feel about bumper stickers and car magnets? What do you like--cute, pretty, snarky, geeky/fandomy?
Not big on them. I never know what to do with stickers - my mother's dislike of stickers on anything being transmitted across the thirty years since childhood.   Do you have any phobia's that your Witch should be aware of?
Tryptophobia, sort of. (the one with holes) It gives me creeps.   Trading Post Weenies are live! Anything calling to you?   I think I'd like to try one of the Hair Glosses: but probably not one of the Weenies, because I don't do dirt, leaves, blood, or pumpkin scents... Sorry!   Speaking of nail things, it that time of year and I am doing my jamberry order, Would you want some Lovely Jamberry's for your nails?
Thank you, but no.   Do you like or want to try Marmite?   No, we do Vegemite here in Aus, and it's quite good enough, thanks.

Some folks have already said they do not want used nail polish. If you haven't already chimed in about that... would you be interested in a bottle of BPTP claw polish (in this case, either Event Horizon or Baku) that has been used for one manicure?
Not bothered.   Are there any DISCONTINUED (not LE) BPAL oils that you wish you had, or had a little more of?
No.

Is there anything fairly basic that you're always running out of and need to buy more of?
No.   Anything interest you from the recent Blooddrop update?   No.   How to you feel about foreign spices/flavorings?
Love them.
Dearest Witchee, can I get you anything from Shiro Cosmetics? I'm going to place an order soon and perhaps you are interested in some of their goodies? https://shirocosmetics.com(https://shirocosmetics.com)
I am sincerely the boringest witchee that ever got witched. No, it's fine!

SwitchWitch2015 Questions

Blu-ray or DVD? Neither do not have a player

Game systems - console or computer? Mac/PC? Which console? I wish I had time

Are you dressing up for Halloween and if so do you need any accessories for if? I am but am not sure as what and only cause work forces us to

Talk to me about bags, what kinds do you like? Sizes and styles? I am a quirky type of girl so love quirky kinds of bags mostly crossbody.

What are your favorite fandoms and do you want to receive anything related to such? I love Doctor Who, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones. I am not sure I need fandom stuff. I like desk things that are fandom. My house though I am doing it very quirky, just not fandom quirky.

What are you planning to order from the Weenies update?
I think I already answered this in an earlier question if not let me know and I will figure it out.

Do you like comics or graphic novels? Any issues or collections you want to read?
I would like to read beyond the first Walking Dead and whatever series the movie Pacific Rim was based on.

Do you like fanfic? Would you like a story written for you as part of your gift? What characters/fandoms/pairings etc do you like?
Never read fanfic.

Where do you have wishlists at? If you could please link to them or to a post that links to them. (Amazon, Etsy, Think Geek, Pinterest, Sephora, Lush, BPAL/BPTP, Soap Box Company, everywhere and anywhere!)
I have my Pinterest and etsy wish lists in my signature

Let's say you have indicated interest in receiving a hand knitted item. What colors, exactly, do you like? If you could provide color swatches here or to pinterest (or something visual), that would help out a lot.
I have things and colors in my etsy wish list. My etsy list is a guide to what I like.

Would you rather receive a bunch of little packages through the round, a couple of medium packages, or one big package at the end?
I am happy any way.

Would Witchees like something from IKEA? (Or any other not always accessible by everyone store?)
Love IKEA or at least their website.

If/when you go to the mall, for which store(s) do you beeline?
I like Sephora (I never wear makeup, but I buy it), Lush if nothing more than to huff the store, Earthbound where I could easily spend a ton of money.
Do you receive any subscription boxes (julep, lootcrate, ipsy, birchbox, etc.)?
Freshly
Do you like tarts/candles/incense? If so, what type of scents?
Tarts, I love incense, but alas no holder, I do not like fruity or florals. I prefer what would be traditionally fall scents spicy, woodsy types no perfume or men’s cologne scents. The one scent I look for every year at this time is Bayberry, it reminds of childhood Christmases.

Is there anything you wish you could have picked up from the Dragon*Con exclusives?
No

Is there a GC you've been dying to try but haven't got around to yet?
I had a tester of thieves rosin and lovedddddddddd it.

Yes
Office supplies hound? Pens, pencils, journals, any preference, or favorites?
I have more then I need

How do you feel about "toys" - stuffed animals and the like?
I like them, but my Great Pyrenees feels it is her mission to destuff anything and everything with stuffing.

Blood moon no, love things like eclipses and meteor showers.

I am 5 ft tall about 45”

What do we want from Paintbox Soapworks?
A lot I think I pinned a few

If I were to make you some art, would you prefer a frame that hangs or one that sits? And what color/style would you prefer?
Either and artists choice
How do you feel about gourmet marshmallows?
The same you feel about breathing LOVE IT
Are you a slatherer or a dabber?
Depends on the scent
Talk to me, dear witchies, about tea. I know we've covered this a little, but I really need the nitty gritty here- not just companies you like and don't like (Teavana? Adagio? David's? Some tiny place?) but I also want to know the other stuff: top 3 flavors, loose or bagged, the kinds of tea accessories you use- or have always wanted. Be specific. Provide links if necessary.
New Mexico Tea Company and Tea Trekker
Horjicha and Roasted Kukicha tea’s are my favorite. I also love their ginger. I like a good full bodied Oolong with a hearty flavor and a deep green tea is never amiss. I do not flavored teas unless they are well done and natural. Had a wonderful tangerine, black tea once. Prefer loose teas as well.
Villainess is putting out brand new stuff for the first time in a while (as opposed to bringing back former lines). Sooo.... who wants it?

How does everyone feel about duct tape crafts? Any favorite patterns?
Not sure
Are there any flowers you especially like?
Sunflowers, wild flowers, cherry blossoms
Would you be interested in any cozies or cases (yarn o fabric, not hard cases) for tech stuff (phone, laptop' etc) or for cups/mugs/bottles or anything else similar.
No I lose stuff like that ALOT
Would you like Halloween or Day of the Dead themed ornaments or a "bunting"?
Halloween is just me at home so decorations are not usually out.
Are there witchees who would like book related gifts like a booklight, bookmark, bookseat or something for your reading gadget, like a cover or a light for example.
Would love a booklight or a book seat.
I make handmade journals, mini albums and similar items. Would my witchee be interested in something like that?
Yes
Are you interested in leg warmers at all?
Fat short legs just look fatter and shorter in leg warmers, kind of like knit sausages.

I bought the Portal board game last week & it came with a Portal 2 steam free download code. I already have the game on another console & it's one of my favorite series of all time. Soooo, would you want it?
I do not play video games.
Have you read The Martian? Or do you plan on watching the movie?
No and if I have time
Pertaining to that, how does everyone feel about such things? Will anyone be participating? How about NaNo swag, is there any you want? Not sure what that is

Honey or beeswax products? Discuss.
Love anything honey that goes in or on my body.
How do you feel about bumper stickers and car magnets? What do you like--cute, pretty, snarky, geeky/fandomy?
This I will do if they come off. I would love any about womens rights or co-existing. Doctor Who is also cool.

Blooddrop is a thing I should havn't looked at

So I looked at the Blood Drop update. never having been to that site I was a little like a kid in the candy story but I think i tamed it back. As with anything these would be the things that i liked and was interested in please dont think you have to do anything.

So first thing i saw were the bath truffles. Apple wood and rum sound so nice. Ghostly and Late Summer were also nice

Then i hit bathing oils a personal love of mine. Apple Cider doughnut, Jord, Sjofn

Bubble bars well Appple cider doughnut, Rubies and Emeralds, Soft Falling, Nightly

the perfumes I want to have a sample of were Eerie Dearie, My other Car is a broom, Santa meurte.

Now Chamber sprays sound particularly delicious apples and Bees (okay this sounds good enough to Roll in), Skol and Hato

her hair oils sound very rich so Aragon and macadamia, Cider Doughnut, and Apples and bees

that is about all i found well beside some of the corsets that i wanted to bring home.

As always witch of mine be happy!!
