13 Nights of Halloween Answers

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I don't knit, and wool makes me itch. If someone really wanted to knit me something with plant-based fibers ... socks, or a scarf, or even a trivet would be awesome. For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? Shower only for the moment. I still use bath oils in the shower, though. Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? I want to be more active and in better shape; anything you can think of to help me have fun doing so is welcome. Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I'm sort of a music nerd - it's my job and my hobby too. I get into trivia games, serious analysis, weird tangents, etc. (I don't know if this is "fandom", but it's as close as I get, I suppose.) Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I don't, and can't have one. Would you like loose, fancy tea? Sure, or bagged, fancy tea. I like strong black teas plain or with bergamot or with chai spices. I also like tisanes like peppermint, hibiscus or spice blends. Just no chamomile or other daisy family plants. Incense, y/n? Not for me thanks. One of my cats is sensitive to incense, candles and wax/oil burner stuff. What is your favorite fall activity? It's my favorite time of the year to cook, when there's an abundance of fresh local vegetables and fruits, and it's not too hot in the kitchen. I also like road-tripping to see the changing leaves, playing indoor gigs, getting to know my new students, and doing more writing in the colder months. I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? I'd like to try Sakuma Drops. And I like Japanese street fashion, anything quirky that's comfy. Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I might like a pretty stone or a re-purposed curiosity on a long silk/satin cord. I don't do well with beads or metal clasps. I only wear jewelry for special occasions. I think I said this in my questionnaire ... I find that most jewelry gets in my way. Medium/large earrings, hoops or dangly, could work. I have pierced ears, one regular size piercing each. I do like accessories to put up my (now butt-length) hair, if that counts. What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? I like fancy hot chocolate, and I love malt flavors. If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? As long as there's decent variety overall and you have fun finding stuff you think I'd like, do whatever ratio works! How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? A few maybe if they are fun. Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Sure, maybe some brainy comedy or something Bollywood? Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? Something off my goodreads list. Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? Surprise or not according to *your* fancy. I have a slight preference for specifically numbered packages, but won't be disappointed if you prefer not to number them. Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Yes to solid perfume. I love those little Pacifica tins; otherwise I'm not all that familiar with what's out there these days. I think I have all the lip balm I can use for awhile. There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? My day-job persona is casual and subtly dressed. (I teach private piano lessons to people of all ages and walks of life.) My performing persona is more playful and dressed-up. Oh, and I should mention that in one of my bands I always wear Hawaiian shirts/dresses. If you can find anything that combines Hawaiian with goth style or Halloween themes, my hat is off to you! I'm going to Rose City Comic Con during the shopping window. Any exhibitors/vendors/comics/etc. you're particularly interested in? OMG THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE A GOONIES "NEVER SAY DIE" T-SHIRT! I AM TOTALLY GETTING THAT! Ahem. Yes. I mean... There are things! Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? I've been out of the loop for awhile when it comes to comics and the surrounding culture -- totally open to being surprised, though. Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? I attended a party last year where I saw some amazing makeup and costumes. I'd also be into atole, pan de muerto, etc (just no alcohol). Does anything from this shop catch your eye? I'd be into any of these perfume samples: Autumnal Equinox, Autumn Heirloom, Ichabod Crane, Beguiling Violet, Doll Parts, Aloha'oe, Paniola. Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? As far as what's likely to come up in a Halloween swap, I had mentioned bats. Most insects don't bother me, with the exception of anything that stings. How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? I'm open to it, especially if it's something I can't get locally. Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Blue and copper or anything along those lines. How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I can use stickers in my job. I'm a piano teacher and sometimes give stickers to my younger students to reward good efforts.   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? Yes, but I'm very sensitive to anything itchy -- cotton, bamboo, hemp and/or silk are definitely okay. A scarf in fall colors would be lovely. What makes you feel pampered? Silk things, soft socks, good coffee brewing, hot showers, hair care, brunch with a Sunday paper, vacations.   We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? I love cats most of all. I'm also fond of horses, deer, butterflies, and blue herons.   Canadian stuff: I'd be into some maple syrup, or possibly some tzatziki flavored potato chips. Paintbox Soapworks: The Nihilist coconut-free soap looks good, as does the Whiskers solid scent balm.   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) Ooh, I like the Refresh. And the Wild Sweet Orange -- do they still make that? How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) The Maharajah Chai looks good. How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? I'm okay for beans. How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Maybe a regular iced coffee for one of my busy days. Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? I don't use these. Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? I'm set for these. Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? I could actually use a tea steeper. Or a one-cup tea ball. Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? Maybe a hot chocolate mix?   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? Sure. Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? I'm a non-drinker, but stuff to cook with is okay (e.g. sherry, marsala, etc.) CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? Nay. Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. Glitter. I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container, never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? Decanting is okay, but I don't use the loose powder eyeshadow. For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have sensitive skin but am not allergic. Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? A lot of the gourmet minis look like fun. Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? Wooden stirring spoons? Dearest Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other? Doesn't matter, as long as it's a mix of things you think I'd like. Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you? Lots of teen and YA books, ABC Nashville, BBC Eastenders. Piano sheet music (or uke tab or bass lines) for just about anything - could be boy bands or hair metal or whatever.   And now, a new question: to sort of piggy-back onto the question about small kitchen items, do you like to bake or cook, and if yes, are there any special ingredients, spices, or decorations for baked goods (like sprinkles in seasonal shapes or those decorative picks you put on top of cupcakes, for instance) that you would like? I like too cook, and would welcome just about anything for cooking. I don't like to bake. Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? Love 'em! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? Very long. I like spin pins, flexi-8s, silk hair ties, scarves, buffs ....   If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you wanted some dehydrated apple rings??? I have too many apples as it is. new question from me! how do you feel about music? would you like some? if so, what would you be interested in & in what format (do you still have somewhere to play CDs, or would a flash drive be better, etc)? I feel good about music! If it's stuff you love and want to share with me, I'm all for it. I like lots of different stuff as long as it's not super-loud and abrasive. I think a flash drive works best for me. If you have an Etsy favorites list, are all of the things on the list things you'd be happy to get, or are some of them gift ideas for other people, or stuff that you've already bought and loved but don't need more of, or for any reason not something you'd want to get in this swap? It's all things I'd be happy to get. Are there any scents from the Lilith update you would like ? Any other you are looking for ? I haven't even gotten decants, anticipating wanting lots of stuff from the Halloween update. The Lilith scents I'm interested in are Blueberry Picking, Lily Witch, Mermaids, The Hierophant and the Empress, and Very Pink Surprise Cake. Do you like Hello Kitty? It's not my usual thing, but if you find something you think would make me giggle ....

13 Nights of Halloween 2014 questions and answers

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I would have no use for yarn, but I always appreciate getting handmade things!   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? Both, and I shower and bathe about equally.   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? Hmmm, since it’s that time of year, I guess that I don’t really like the smell of pumpkin.   Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I’m not following quite as closely now as I did in the past, but Pet Shop of Horrors, Library Wars, Black Butler, Hellsing, Real Ghostbusters, and Supernatural. Right now my fannish attentions are more devoted to delving into old movies (silent era through the 1940’s, but particularly the 1930’s and pre-Code stuff). I’m especially interested in movies featuring George Raft or Warren William.   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) Yes, I have a wax burner, but I almost never use it. I prefer candles.   Would you like loose, fancy tea? Sure!   Incense, y/n? Maybe? I already have a lot, and I rarely burn it. Maybe something spicy or strongly vanilla-y?   What is your favorite fall activity? I don’t really have a favorite fall activity, but I enjoy going apple picking with my family, watching horror movies, enjoying all the Halloween decorations and the cooler weather, and browsing through all the cool Halloween stuff that shows up in all the stores.   I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Ohhh, just about anything! I do have a Japanese grocery near me, so I probably don’t need any food items (except vanilla pocky! they’re not carrying it anymore, and it was yummy!). Other than food, though, pretty much anything from Japan would be super exciting! I have a small maneki neko collection, so a new maneki neko to add to it would be lovely. I love a lot of anime and manga, so anything from one of my favourites (Library Wars, Pet Shop of Horrors, Hellsing, Black Butler, Ouran High School Host Club, Maid Sama!) would be great too.   Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I love chainmaille, or a simple Halloween-themed pendant would be nice.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? Hot chocolate definitely yes; I don’t know about malt drinks, but I’d be willing to give it a try!   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? I’d be fine with having multiples spread out over a couple of days. Really, whatever works best for you is fine with me!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? I was much more attracted to the Halloween aspect and not really into the day themeing, but if you find something for a theme day that you think would be up my alley, then bring it on!   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Sure! I’d totally be up for some horror movies (just no torture porn type stuff or demonic possessions, please)! I’ve also gotten into old movies lately – mostly from the mid-1930’s back to the silent era. If you know of any really good ones, I’d love to check them out!   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? Either way! Favorite Halloween anthologies and spooky stories would be great!   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? I’m totally flexible either way, so I’ll leave it up to you!   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Yes to both!   There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I work from home, so I don’t have to worry about suitability. Nothing really caught my eye, but if you see anything while you’re there that looks like my type of thing, I’m totally open to being surprised!   Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? Sure! Prettily decorated skulls and skeleton figures are pretty much always cool.   Does anything from this shop catch your eye? Black Cat bubbling scrub; Marshmallow Woods bubbling scrub or whipped soap samples; Mad Hatter Tea Cakes bubbling scrub; Chocolate Orange Truffle lip balm; Pumpkin Cupcakes lip balm; Cherry Limeade lip balm; Lime Sugar lip balm; Lemon Drop lip balm; and Cotton Candy lip balm.   Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? Very strong aversion to scorpions, cockroaches, centipedes, and earwigs. Honeybees and bumblebees are wonderful, but I really dislike/find scary pretty much every other stinging insect (wasps, hornets, yellowjackets, etc.).   How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? I love the idea, but I almost never use jam or jelly, and I’m terribly particular about pickles, so I’m afraid it would be wasted on me. Canned fruits would be about the only canned thing I would probably eat.   Do you have a favourite colour scheme? I like red with black, and sometimes lime green and magenta. Purple/blue/green and red/orange/yellow combos are generally nice, too.   How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I always welcome more stickers and stationery!   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? I would absolutely LOVE crafted critters!!! I really don’t need another scarf, but if you made me one with a Halloweenie motif/border (especially bats) I would totally wear it so much!   What makes you feel pampered? My favourite (and most frequent) self-pamper is actually to sleep in late or nap during the day. Other things that would make me feel pampered would be a manicure, going out to eat, Fannie May chocolate, and getting a new book or DVD, or something cool from Etsy, or a new nail polish, makeup item, or bar of scented soap. My wild pie-in-the-sky fantasies of pampering include someone cooking for me, mowing the lawn, and cleaning the house while I read a book, watch a movie, or cross-stitch. New Question! We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? Gerbils, bats, bunnies, and mice are my favourites, but I like most small to medium size furry critters in general, from kangeroo rats to squirrels to oppossums and skunks to raccoons. I also really like honeybees and bumblebees. Bird-wise, I like owls and sea gulls best. I also like lake and sea monsters.     A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye? Mandinka hot process soap or sorbetto sample; Punkie Night hot process soap or sorbetto sample; Gingermilk sorbetto sample.   Is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? I love maple sugar candy and Aero bars!   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) I wouldn’t mind trying the Refresh Mint, organic Earl Grey Blanc, or Passion.   How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) I haven’t been in a Teavana store since my friend and I had to slink out in shame upon reaching the register (after waiting forever in a huge line) and discovering that you couldn’t buy just one ounce of tea at a time like you can at other tea stores – so sadly, no Monkey Picked Oolong for my friend, who only wanted one ounce, no more. But I took a look at their website, and I’d love to try the Dragonfruit Devotion herbal or the Marshmallow Macaron herbal. I wouldn’t mind trying the Snow Geisha white, Moroccan Mint green, Samurai chai mate, or Limeade Twist herbal either.   How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? No thank you, I don't drink coffee.   How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? No thanks!   Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? Nope.   Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? I’m kind of way overstocked on both already.   Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? No thanks.   Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? The Teavana rock sugar would be lovely.   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? I'm fine with gently used, but if it requires two players, I'd probably hardly ever get to use it, unfortunately. Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? Yay! I’ll try pretty much anything alcoholic once. My favorites tend to be flavored vodkas, craft beers (especially porters or stouts), and wine.   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? Ummm, sure? The regular stuff is good once in a while. If it’s the caramel apple candy corn, then YAY!   New Question! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. I couldn’t really think of anything until I read Usagi’s answer – definitely no taxidermy for me either, please! I'm totally ok with that!   Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? It's been a while since I've been to the one in my area, but it looks like it's about time for me to go back! Yay for Halloween stuff! I particularly like the cats & bats gel clings, the Gingerdead Man cookie cutter, the bleeding taper and pillar candles, and the vintage postcard Halloween wood clips.   Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? Not really. I barely use any in the first place, and despite that, my utensil drawer is crammed full. I don't know that I have room for anything else!   Dearest Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other? Hmmmm, probably a bit heavier on the non-edible items, but of course the final decision is yours! I'm sure I'll be happy either way!   Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you? I try not to feel guilty about any of my pleasures, but I do feel a tinge of embarrassment sometimes about all the fanfiction I read. Oh, and it's also rather embarrassing to have to go into the Teen room at the library to get the manga books I love to read, so I guess I should feel guilty about reading things intended for people much younger than I am. I suppose the same should be true about going to concerts where much of the crowd is at least 20 years younger than me, but hey, I like what I like. Still, there's nothing quite like being nearly 40 and listening to the girl next to you lament to her friend that she was getting sooooo old, since she'd be turning 19 soon! Or having the people in line behind you get all excited by the fact that you're actually old enough to get a wristband and be able to buy alcohol inside!!!     Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I like them, but already have a bunch that I never end up wearing.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? I have long hair right now, but getting a hair cut soon is high of my list of priorities. Once I finally get it done, it will probably be just below my chin. The only hair accessories I use are the elastic bands to put it in a ponytail, and I already have more of those than I need. My hair is too fine for pretty much anything else - pins, barrettes, etc., just slide right out.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves? Autumn themed soap would be nice, especially something autumn themed that includes a tried and true note like cinnamon or clove.   Is there something that catches your eye from this shop? If you like something, but are opposed to the colors, or like a piece of something, like a piece in general if it were bigger/smaller etc. please don't hesitate to say so. I think my favorite design shape-wise is the Swirls, but I'd prefer it with more less blue and more gold. I also like the Dot and Drape designs, and the Triple Bar bracelet in the blue and gold coloring of the Single Bar bracelet that's pictured would be fantastic. They're all very impressive, though!   If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you want some dehydrated apple rings??? Sure!

I have a ton more of these questions here at this blog link http://www.bpal.org/blog/353-syrenemysts-blog/

I would totally hide around corners and shoot peope with it. I love doing silly things like that.

- What animal do you feel like the most? a groundhog

a clown, but one who works the side of the rings, not a main ring performer. I like to be funny and make people laugh, but I don't always like to be the focal point of the situation. Plus, I could hide behind the clown makeup, since I am sometime ashamed of what I look like.

- Imagine that you're given a shoebox-sized time capsule, and you are asked to put any number of items in the box that symbolize who you are. The items can be may be anything you can imagine, and money is no object, but they must fit within the box. What do you choose? My smartphone, with recorded messages and videos and pics of things , people and places that I loved, my iPod, tons of regular pictures of my family and my life.

- Do you need storage boxes? not really, but if my witch wanted to make me one, I would love it!

- The world has given you the day off. You hear that, no chores, responsibilities, or budget you have to follow. What would you do in those 24 hours? honestly, sleep. Maybe buy lots of frivilous things, redecorate my house.

Switch Witch 2014 - Help Post

OK, I've never done one of these before, so here goes:   Etsy Favorites: https://www.etsy.com/people/Izile/favorites?ref=si_fav   Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/izile/   Amazon Wishlist - which is WAAY outdated - hopefully I can update it, *eep* - http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/7KANCDM0KO7J/ref=cm_wl_sortbar_o_page_1   Sockdreams wishlist - http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/edc0bc670665758   My favorites on DeviantArt - nothing for sale - just to give you an idea of what I think is pretty - http://izile.deviantart.com/favourites/   BPAL Website wishlist: http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/my-lists/view-a-list/?wlid=4737 and secondary: http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com/my-lists/view-a-list/?wlid=4730   More as I think of it...   ah, things I might have forgotten that might be important:   I do not own a smart phone, a tablet, a laptop or anything like that. I have a desktop PC and a dumb phone (flip, only does txt/calls) - this is an intentional choice to be less "plugged in", so "apps" or similar content aren't going to work.   Other answers from the SW thread to consolidate info:   "I've been trying to drink coffee again, but I'm so picky, and I only drink it at the office, so best to skip in in favor of teas. Teas, however, I'm becoming a bit of a fiend. I like white, green, black, herbals - I like to experiment with flavors - both hot and iced. I do really seriously dislike anise notes in tea, though - but otherwise, most fruity or slightly floral blends are good. My current fav is from DryadTea on etsy (I have a big stash of it!) is her Persephone blend, which is black tea with notes of vanilla, pomegranate and rose (reminded me of BPAL Persephone oil) - but I also love my Adagio green tea chocolate mint tea bags! So I'm all over the place with office teas!" ---------------- "Pumpkin: I am generally not a fan of anything flavored/scented with "pumpkin" That said, *some* pumpkin baked goods are very tasty, but I have to be in a very particular mood, and am still not over fond of them - I'd rather have apple spice baked goods than pumpkin spice. My idea of decorating with pumpkins might be, if I found a really funky looking, interesting colored, real gourd... but nothing "in the shape/style/look" of a pumpkin. I tend not to be a fan of anything scented particularly foodie, though, as well. I used to have this caramel corn lotion back when I first moved to NYC that I loved, and then one day, I took my a.m. break to the ladies' and caught a whiff of myself and was really hungry and knew it was over 2 hours til lunch break - since them, I just can't handle foodie scents - and I tend to find foodie candles too cloying. My favs are natural, no artificial scent added, beeswax. ---------------- "Re: Companies I avoid - I try and stay away from most big industrial mega-corp companies as much as possible. If someone shared their favorite small etsy crafter something with me that I'd never heard of before, that'd be preferable to anything from Bath & Body Works (even though I like their co-opted C.O. Bigelow line). " ------------------ Re: Cooking/Kitchen: I am an avid cook - I love to cook and bake (and cocktail!)! - and yes, kitchen fun would be appreciated! My kitchen isn't very big, and I don't have a lot of space, but it's still one of my favorite places to be, and as it starts to get cooler, I'll be more willing to spend more time over a hot oven (and as it gets COLD, I'll be spending as much time as possible over a hot oven). - I should make sure to add kitchen stuff to my wishlists linked in my blog ... little things that I just never manage to pick up (like a knife honer/sharpener... )   ---------------------------   Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing? Yes! I have a subscription to Games magazine, and a crossword magazine, I tend to go in waves, and like having the little grey cells put up to the challenge. (I very nearly got a Lumosity account....) If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions? digital, last album I got was Beth Patterson's that she sold on a USB bracelet. What’s a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you haven’t had time to address it? Lots of little small things I never think about until they smack me in the face... I won't remember them until the next time something comes up. How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? I.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin… I don't tend to carry that kind of stuff with me, but tiny trinkets tend to collect on a special shelf by my bed. The weirder, more uncommon, and storied, the better.   -----------------------   22. Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason – bad associations? Not really - but I'm still dealing with rampant arachnophobia, so no spider-y stuff, and had a bad-ex who wore High John the Conqueror oil (not BPAL) all the time, and read Ayn Rand - so I now want all such things kept as far away from me as possible. Also, I find doll-stuff creepy as hell. On the other hand, I have a really special family story that makes gold finches a somewhat superstitious but good/positive talisman.   ------------------------------------   Question while my head's there (as I don't remember it in the questionnaire)   Do you have any fabric or skin-contact aversions? For example: I find pure wool, especially felted wool, itchy as hell and it drives me mad if it's against my skin, but I don't have the same problem with merino or cashmere, or blended fabrics that are only part wool. Also, I try and avoid rayon and acrylic due for environmental conservation reasons.   --------------------------------------------- Do you enjoy poetry? Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like?
To an extent? I can enjoy it now and again when I'm in the mood. Had the usual(?) teenage obsession with Poe. I used to love seeing Taylor Mead before he died. He was hilarious. But I don't often seek out poetry much. Would you enjoy receiving something related to a favorite Disney character?
No. No Disney (or Hello Kitty) or anything in that broader family. How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? (Example: Would you enjoy this stationary- or do you prefer elegant/creepy/neutral stuff?)
I've been given stuff like that, I never use it. Not into kawaii/anime/manga/cutesy. I do like odd bits, but I guess I would go call them elegant, eclectic, nature-oriented, and what I call "elfy" - or sometime fairy - but NOT tinkerbell kinda fairy, like Celtic mythology fae - more elves of Middle Earth, and things you'd find in an Irish goblin market than Disney in style. What is something you'd really like to recieve from your witch? Please be as specific as possible - no, "Oh whatever she thinks is fine!"
I would like some long arm warmers. I've been marking lots of them on etsy and sock dreams to serve as a stylistic range/guide. I'm always so cold in fall/winter, and I have to be very particular about gloves because of my Reynaud's, so getting me gloves is rather moot, because the only gloves I've ever found that work for me are fur-lined leather (expensive!); but my gloves can go over/under any number of arm warmers layered over thermals and other sleeves.   ------------------ Tarot cards/rune stones: No for me, I have the Stephanie Pui-Mun Law deck, and it's lovely, but haven't taken it out of its bag in a few years. Don't really do divination or anything like that; but that once, aesthetics trumped.   Go to your music source of choice - on random or shuffle setting if possible - & share with us the 10 most recent songs/artists: (my zune set to random)   Dream Theater - Wither Lacuna Coil - My Wings Amanda Palmer - Do It With a Rockstar Abney Park - Throw Them Overboard Blackmore's Night - Written in the Stars Tom Waits - The One That Got Away Alice in Chains - Got me Wrong Conjure One - Extraordinary Way Shawn Colvin - These Four Walls Beth Patterson - Steer by the Stars     yes, I'm really that all over the place. -----------------------------------------   No crushes (celebrity or otherwise)   I love glitter!   Q: If there was another time period other than now that described your style/aesthetics, what would it be? (19th century Victoriana? swinging 20's? Mad Men 50's? Groovy 60's? Disco 70's? Bold 80's? .. or any other time...)   I think I'm mostly 20's with 40's as a close runner up - and I'd rather wear full ren-faire garb than bell bottoms or tie-dye.   ---------------------------------   If you are ok with receiving t-shirts, what size are you, do you prefer tissue tees, normal crew tees, babydoll etc? babydolls are OK, and I do like tissue tees, normally XS or S - though I have sooo many black and white t-shirts, I'd rather only get t-shirts if they are a color.   ThinkGeek: I do - but almost nothing on that list is in stock because I haven't touched it in a couple of years - I've kind of gone off think geek a bit. :-/ Profanity: Not really bothered as long as it doesn't get gross or incredibly XXX NC-17 rated. Not into "adult/racy" stuff (see: grey-asexual) Hairsticks - Yes, LARPing - No make up: short answer is YES! I'm always interested in new face masks, samples of treatments (I go for sensitive skin, moisturizing, and anti-aging) - I love to play with color so colorful eye makeup, eyeliners, shimmer/glitter are all good! I have 5 big stacks of True Colors shimmering mica stacks that I LOVE (I have the black diamonds, the blues, the greens, the purples, and the silvers that came out for the millennium - hey! Mica never goes bad!), and I LOOOVE lippies! Haunt lippies are fab, as are House of Gloi, but I also like tinted and full pigment, and pencils, and just about everything! So, skin care, eyes and lips, lots of color, not so much a drug store girl, but indie companies, even ones I don't know, are fine! - Oh, an I have terrible nails, so unless you can suggest a really great strengthener or vitamin fortifier or something... it's kind of pointless. Tiny stubby brittle nails that break all the time.   --------------------------------------   Zombies: No!   Arm warmers: Yes! over the elbow or full sleeve are preferred - THESE are my absolute favorites that I already have in red/black.   In person? Most likely creeped out.   Ravelry: No   Paintbox has a discount code! SWITCH10 is 10% off! Anyone have any paintbox loves? I was gifted an awesome rose slip lotion from them a few years ago. Don't think I've seen it since...   Animals? horses, unicorns, dragons, those are the big three, though I also like cats and foxes and gold finches as runners up.   ---------------------------------   Knitting: yes! I like knit stuff. I prefer natural fibers, love those multicolored recycled sari yarns! Also, I love red, but I seem to already have a LOT of red.. not a lot of greens/browns.. some blues, more teals though than really great true blue, or a fav color is kind of gunmetal blue? it's half way between royal blue and navy, but with a dose of grey to tone down the saturation. Hex color code: #545E9C is pretty close.   Incense: no. I have lots of scent allergies (BPAL was the first smelly stuff I could use without rash or sneezing)   Raw Milk: Fine by me! I'd drink unpasteurized milk straight if I could find it!   Spices: I have a pretty well stocked spice cabinet - but if you know some place that has good quality neat stuff, or hard to find/exotic spices, I'd be interested!   Stationary: I don't really use stationary, but a quill pen might be cool. I borrowed some calligraphy nibs from a friend for an art project, thought they were kinda cool...   ---------------------------------------   I like apple things - not so much for decorating, but I like the smell of apple (not too much cinnamon), and I like apple flavored things, especially baked goods (can have cinnamon). LUSH - I like a lot of their bath stuff, I can't do their bar soap, though. Most of the bubble bars, bath bombs and bath melts are all big hits with me. Favs are You've Been Mangoed, The Comforter, and Amandapondo - and I haven't tried any of the new bath macaroons, but they all look good! Space girl, blackberry, and butterball are my fav bombs. Though, I'm up to trying new stuff! It's been ages since I've been in a LUSH. You snap the whip is also a repeat fav, though I normally use it in summer after gardening, so that season's just about over. And if there's anything you adore in the body care/foot care line, I'm always curious! *Snacks/Candies from other countries/states - if it's something really local that I wouldn't have had or find in NYC, I'd love to try something really different, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head as far as foreign stuff goes. I know every spring I try and run down sakura flavored stuff (with minimal success), but wrong season... as stated above, not a huge fan of candies. I do like snackies, I keep a graze box subscription because I get snacky at the office, and I like having a little assortment of crackers, nuts, dried fruits, and surprising whatevers to snack on in small quantities. *Canned Goods - my Mom keeps us pretty well stocked in canned goods, honestly. I don't normally eat salsa. I do like homemade dill pickles (not sweet or spicy), and homemade jams. Spicy: low spice/heat tolerance.   ------------------------------------------------------   Gadget cases: none for me, I just have a ratty little flip phone. I do have a Zune of some sort with a ratty old case with a clip on it, but I don't really *care* about tech much, as long as it functions, so I'm fine. Beauty Accessories: make up brushes! Talk about something I always forget about, always think "you should invest in some actual decent/new brushes" and then never do for I don't even know why. I have 2 kabuki brushes, one retractable and one just regular, and they're both so ratty and old that I have to pick hairs off my face when I'm done. This is a brilliant question that I never would have thought about! I really like retractable/travel style makeup brushes.   --------------------------------------------------------   Stores are putting out their halloween PJs and undies! Would you be happy to get any in a package? And if so, what size? For PJ pants, do you like cotton or flannel?   My Mom buys me new pajamas every year as a Christmas tradition, so I am awash in pajamas already. I think it's been answered, can't remember, but in general (in case of other issues) I generally take a Small in the bottoms and an XS in the top. If it's numbers, it really depends on the brand, but is normally about a 2, sometimes a 4, but if it's numbers, not XS, S, M, L, I'd generally suggest avoiding it.   --------------------------------------------   Lilith's I'm curious about:   Amicitia, Avunculus, The Hierophant and the Empress (I'm already buying Blueberry Picking 'cause it's perfect, story and all)   ---------------------------------------------- Music subscriptions: nope Sugar skulls: Not really my thing.   Skin Care Routine: Olay Daily Moisturizer, I forget which one, but it's 30 SPF and anti aging, normally followed by a CC Cream for the office - I keep changing up brands on that. At night, Olay reginerist wash with the tiny beads, and Roc night moisurizer with Retin-A. Periodic use of various masks for cleansing, toning, firming, soothing for sensitive skin... I do love to pamper myself with a really nice face mask now and again. No toners. I use serums and eye creams when I get free samples, don't know enough/haven't found the right one to really warrant the expense. I love body moisturizers of all sorts, but am also swimming in them! And, yes, I love lippies. I had an insane amount of them, but as they're always disappearing into various pockets, coats and purses, and it's not like they're normally very expensive, I use that as justification to keep getting more... I LOVE Haunt's Lip lusts, and House of Gloi's.   --------------------------------------------------------------   Spiders (as in cute knit kind) yes or no? no - I'm better about my arachnophobia these days, but best avoid all spider-y things, even "cute" ones. Pillows (the mostly decorative type)? I don't really have the space, though I admit I'm always attracted to them when I'm at Home Goods, especially when they're really great colors/fabrics. Any kind of bags - big, small, medium, purse, grocery, etc? I'm good with reusable grocery totes - maybe small bags? maybe? guess it depends, never been much of a purse person, and as we get into coat weather, I'm going to try and shove everything in my pockets rather than carry a bag - unless it's impossible, in which case I fall back on my leather backpack. Anything special upcoming? Not for me, but the sith is turning 49 at the end of October.     --------------------------------------------------------   *New Question:* If you had to choose one currently available book (used-but-obtainable counts if you do used) costing $20 or under for your Witch to buy for you, what would it be? umm, I think all 3 of the new Neil Gaiman Sandman comics would be under $20 altogether. Though, part of me wants to wait and just get the trade paperback when the whole series is done. Normally, I'd ask for one of my wishlist cookbooks - man I adore those - but it looks like the only one that's out now and has a used option under $20 is PokPok - which would be cool, but I honestly don't know how much thai cooking I would do in reality... Not a very helpful answer. --------------------------------------------------------   'Weenies: I'm pretty much safe from this update. I'd be somewhat interested in decants (even testable sniffies) of this year's Suck It (I liked first year, second year was cough syrup, this year??), Autumn Overlooked my Knitting (I love red currant, but the rest??), Visions of Autumn III (normally not my style at all, but neither was Peach VI... will probably just test this one at NYCC and file the results in the brain for later), and Pumpkin I (I normally skip pumpkin, but black tea, cardamom, spice, and ginger milk? might need a decant...)   --------------------------------------------------   Chocolate: I don't really care for standard hershey bars and the like, but I do love chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate - though I prefer if it's not just straight white chocolate, that's a bit cloying and much for me, but the white chocolate coconut bar Lindt makes is lovely. Dark and milk chocolate are the safest bets - and which I prefer varies by mood, and type. I love trying new/weird combos - just no banana, or raisin, I really detest both.   Turkish Delights - no please, my sister brought some home from the UK years ago, and while the lemon was OK, the rose was like someone poured chemical perfume into my sinus via my mouth - TERRIBLE experience!   -------------------------------------------   Holiday LUSH: So White Shower Gel Hot Toddy Shower Gel First Snow Dusting Powder Star Light Star Bright   Dried fruits: I don't need any - I get Graze boxes at the office, and they're always at least half dried fruit (and I've got a back log because it'll be another week before I can eat any of that)   Do you need any travel mugs, coffee mugs, tea makers, rock sugar, coffee or tea syrups, etc? the rock sugar in flavors I saw someone mention sounded interesting, otherwise I have lots of mugs for tea.

Coyotes and crows because of personal reasons...anything YOU personally want to give me for a reason you give.   22. Are you superstitious about anything? What is something you'd really like to recieve from your witch? Please be as specific as possible - no, "Oh whatever she thinks is fine!" M.C.A. Hogarth's Jokka Coloring Book. o.o I don't care if I end up buying it myself because I can't wait, I'll still want another. I'm hoping to own two of them in any case, one for coloring and one to just stare at. 33. Tarot cards/rune stones: So much yay! I have no rune stones of any kind, despite wanting them. I have the shadowscapes deck, the H.P. Lovecraft tarot deck (That really rare one), and the Deviant Moon Tarot Deck. Oh, and an old Rider-Waite, but I prefer decks that are more...like shadowscapes I guess? I am -dying- to get my hands on the homestuck tarot deck from whatpumpkin.com...but they appear to be out of stock? *sobs* . o.o But yes, a pendulum would be cool too...I should make a divination wishlist! 34. Go to your music source of choice - on random or shuffle setting if possible - & share with us the 10 most recent songs/artists:   Spotify ahoy! Migraine - Twenty-One Pilots Seven Devils - Sadistik Joan - Heather Dale Jenny, you're barely alive - Rilo Kiley Teenagers - My Chemical Romance Disloyal Order of Water Buffalos - Fall Out Boy Hermit the Frog - Marina and the Diamonds Satin in a Coffin - Modest Mouse The Awkward Song - Cheese on Bread Shalott - Emilie Autumn

Weenie Switch Witch - 2014 Help!

Switch Witch Help, 2014 edition!   My past help blogs are still up, but keep in mind stuff might have changed - I'm still in the middle of some pretty major life changes, and it's changed my outlook on some stuff, and my priorities and whatnot. Most of it's probably still accurate, but you might want to double check stuff just in case!!   Amazon Wishlist: http://amzn.com/w/SQH5WXN77PBP (There are notes for some of the items - please look!) Etsy Favorites: https://www.etsy.com...e/?ref=col_list Pinterest: http://pinterest.com/ladywench Think Geet wishlist: https://www.thinkgeek.com/brain/gimme.cgi?wid=8208a60fd Sock Dreams wishlist: http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/6be97a38273a4fd Soul Flower wishlist: http://soul-flower.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=DISPREG&regid=83494   General Stuff -   Clothing is odd for me. I love graphic tees, but have a huge problem finding ones that are fitted properly, but are also long enough. Depending on the brand and style, I can be anywhere from an XL to a XXXL. Pants are also tricky - I can be either a 16 or an 18. Skirts I can usually do okay in an XL - I prefer fold over waistbands (like on some maxi skirts) as opposed to elastic ones. Also, my wishlists are HUGE, lol. I don't get to buy a lot for myself right now - I've recently quit my job to stay at home with my 1 year old daughter, and whenever I have extra money I just want to buy her all the things! So I keep wishlists as my 'someday' lists, which explains the randomness and size of them   QUESTIONS! Newest ones will be on the bottom.   - Pumpkins?   Eh, they're okay.   - Canned goods?   Eh. I can't think of anything I'd be super interested in.   - Trading Post wants?   Triple Dagger bracelet, Carnaval Diabolique scent locket, 'A Little Lunacy' ID case   - retailers?   I'm not always huge on stuff from Mary K or Avon type places, but if you think I'd love it I don't mind   - Coffee/tea?   NO NO NO, lol. Not a fan at all.   - Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy?   I do cook, some! I'm mostly still learning. I wouldn't mind kitchen accessories   - What culture or country (doesn’t have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you?   I don't really know...right now I'm interested in Norse stuff, though.   - Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)?   Not at the moment, I have so much art that I have to frame and put up as it is! I'm always open to more, but not anything specifically commissioned!   - What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests?   In my free time I play video games, and read. I LOVE to read (which is why I'm trying to start a career as a writer!). I love Blizzard games - WoW (though I can't afford a subscription at the moment), Diablo, Hearthstone. I also love my 3DS, though I haven't been able to get a whole lot of games for it lately.   - Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for?   We've been known to play some games, we like 7 Wonders, Munchkin, that kind of stuff. We've been longing for Small World (I want the Underworld edition (I think that's what it's called, anyway). Accessories? Boxes to hold loose cards would be good, we have a bunch of card type games we've lost (or the dog we used to have ate) the original boxes for. - DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands?   I'd LOVE the Harry Potter collection of movies. I also have a bunch of Disney movies on my amazon list, I'd love a collection to show to my daughter when she's a little older! As for games...I'm REALLY interested in Doomtown which just came (back) out, that's about the only one right now I think. Small World would be cool, but Doomtown is higher on the list, lol.   - created creations?   Of course! I'll be making as much as I can for my witchee, so I'm more than happy to receive homemade goodies   - What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try? I can't think of anything specific at the moment. Well, maybe ketchup chips. Those seem to be really hard to find in Florida, and I used to get them all the time up north. I LOVE ketchup chips! - Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? Please note whether you are willing to add BPALers as friends. Eh....I'm at a point right now where I'm not adding people unless I talk to them a lot on the forums. Trying to cut down on the FB stuffs a bit. So I'll have to think about it. I *will* however try to be a bit more active on the forums, and I'm more than willing to answer any questions Also, Venneh, nekogrrl, lioness, skyelyric, Coldie, OctoberGwen... those are all good people to ask for facebook stalking help Also I'm pretty active on Pinterest, linked above! - Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom? Groot! Also World of Warcraft, Sailor Moon. Those are my big ones right now. And Star Trek. And of course witch kitsch, being halloween and all Ooooh, and She-ra. LOOOVE She-ra.   - Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing?   They are fun - I do have a HUGE puzzle book right now that I'm slowly working on though (Maze of Games). Though I do love Logic Puzzles and sure wouldn't complain about getting more of those!   - If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions?   Either is fine - What’s a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you haven’t had time to address it?   I need to clean my house in a big way. That's about it, lol. - How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? I.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin…   I love that idea!   - Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason--bad associations?   Not that I can think of.   - Apple?   While I'm 'meh' on pumpkin, I LOVE apple! Apple type smells are my favorite in the fall, and dried apples are my go-to snack, I have a dehydrator and make them all the time   - Christmas/Yule ornaments?   If you like I'm not even thinking about that kind of thing yet, I like to celebrate one holiday before moving on to the next, lol!   - Do you enjoy poetry? Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like?   Not huge on poetry.   - Would you enjoy receiving something related to a favorite Disney character?   I love Disney! I do live right behind Disney World though, lol. Favorite characters are Meg, Kida, Merida, Stitch (and the other experiments). I like a lot of the Pixie Hollow/Peter Pan stuff, love Haunted Mansion stuff (I have the hourglass!), Pirates (ride not movies), Jungle Cruise, pretty much anything Adventureland related (I worked there for 2 years, lol), Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch...okay I like a lot of Disney stuff!   - How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? (Example: Would you enjoy this stationary - or do you prefer elegant/creepy/neutral stuff?)   I love creepy stuff. Cute is okay, especially if it's monsters. Or Sailor Moon.   - What is something you'd really like to recieve from your witch? Please be as specific as possible - no, "Oh whatever she thinks is fine!"   I feel weird asking for something specific. To me SW isn't about getting something you want, it's about gifting someone else, and getting to know your witch/witchee. BUT, since the question was asked, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE this wallet. Or this necklace.   - Tarot/rune/divination?   Yes! I actually finally found 'my' tarot deck not too long ago (Book of Shadows part 2 - So Below), but I still like to collect them for fun. I'd love to try rune stones - I'm big into Norse mythology right now.   - Playlist?   Here's what came up on shuffle!   An Ancient Enemy - Hobbit Soundtrack Trashin' the Camp - Tarzan Soundtrack Madness - Muse Pale Watchers - Bastion Soundtrack Brown Sugar - Rolling Stones Perfect - Alanis Morissette A Man's Gotta Do - Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog Cecilia - Simon and Garfunkel re: Your Brains- Jonathan Coulton Tapestry of Nations - WDW soundtrack Can't Get Her Out - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers   - Celeb crush? Or belly dancing.   - Do you prefer physical books? CD books? eBooks? If eBooks do you have preferred format, kindle/nook/kobo/PDF/ePub/ect? eAudio?   Books in pretty much any form are awesome. I don't do audio books so much, but physical books or kindle books are AWESOME. New, used, whatever!   - Smut?   No thanks.   - If your witch were to take a photograph (or paint or whatever) of something just for you, what would it be? Landscape? Flower? Critter? Specific preferences (color, finish, product, brand, etc.)?   Love makeup! I have SO MUCH though, lol. But I am a sucker for REALLY holo nailpolishes. Nothing actual glitter - that stuff is a bitch to get off!   - How do you feel about profanity and off-color humor?   I don't mind it, but it's not really my thing. I mean, I swear on occasion, and it depends on the humor, but that's about it.   - I make hairsticks...would you like/use them?   I would love to...but my hair is MUCH too short right now. Thrilled? Annoyed? Completely creeped out?   Eh...I'd be a bit creeped out (unless it was Luna2119, lol, cause she's one of my best irl friends!). I'm at home alone with my daughter most of the time, and usually don't answer the door unless it's the mail guy. - Do you have a ravelry account? Tell me about your yarn obsessions.   I do not. I do like funky yarn though, for the rare occasion that I still make monster dolls. - Sock Dreams, yay or nay?   YES, and wishlist is at the top, lol! - Knitted items like scarves, shawls, dishclothes....yay or nay? Favorite fibers? Favorite colors?   Sure! I love turquoise, black, purple, green, and anything soft. And it's somewhat broken down into categories, too! - If you were to receive handmade caramels, would it matter if they were made with raw cream (unpasteurized)?   No? - Would you enjoy getting a sampling of quality incense taken from various sources? Are there types of incense you know you don't like? Pumpkin : I eat a lot of squashes, but only in savoury things. I don't tend to get on with pumpkin scents as they usually have burny cinnamony stuff in there so i tend to just avoid.   2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).   3. Trading Post wants? On my wishlist   4. What direct sellers do you not like and would prefer not to get things from? And also feel free to list any retail brands you really don't like. Avon would be a no for me, most of the other companies I don't even recognise!   5. How about y'alls coffee and tea preferences? black flavoured tea or herbal 'mint/ginger plus something' teas. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)? Switch Witch Fall 2014

Hi, Witch! The questionnaire said we should not include wish list links in it due to issues with links not translating, so I'm going to put them here, followed by answers to questions posted in the thread, so everything will be in one convenient spot.   Wish lists: BPAL BPTP Amazon Etsy (probably not super up-to-date, but useful for ideas maybe) Pinterest wish list board   Q&A   1. I wonder what a potential witchee would think about being bombarded with PUMPKINS in various formats. Because my current obsession just may last long enough to be of use in spoiling.....but I know wouldn't be appreciated by everyone. Would you appreciate it?!?   I pumpkin in all forms.   2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).   Sure! That would be awesome.   3. Trading Post wants?   I love the Miskatonic U candle. Right now, waiting for Halloweenie update!   4. What direct sellers do you not like and would prefer not to get things from? And also feel free to list any retail brands you really don't like.   Not crazy about Mary Kay or Avon, or any food company.   5. How about y'alls coffee and tea preferences?   I love coffee and tea. I am anti-Keurig.   6. Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy?   Not much. My hubby does most of the cooking. I bake (cookies, banana bread, that sort of thing) and have a few dishes that I'm very good at making.   THAT SAID... my mom just bought us a food dehydrator, so I'm interested in learning about drying stuff.   7. How do people feel about creative endeavours? Would you like to receive one? Or supplies to make your own? What do you like? Drawings, stories, poems?   Of course! I would love any sort of creative endeavor my witch sent.   8. What culture or country (doesnt have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you?   I love Italy. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there (and he'd visited before). We weren't in an especially touristy area, and we really loved the lifestyle. Lots of small local shops, lots of walking and taking trains. We love the old buildings too (whereas here people seem to have this throwaway attitude; things aren't built to last). It was wonderful.   9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)?   I would love to have my cat, Simon, in a format suitable for a tattoo.   10. What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests?   Reading and gaming are my primary downtime activities (and I read A LOT). Currently, I'm way into Final Fantasy XIV, gaming-wise. I like yoga. Sometimes I like making jewelry. I used to go to the gym (our local YMCA) a lot, but due to finances this year, I don't have a current membership. I hope I can renew soon.   11. Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for?   I desperately wish we had a local D&D group. Right now we don't, so we don't have anything.   12. DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands? Can they be used, through Amazon?   We have blu-ray, and also an Apple TV. Used is just fine. Movie wishes: anything Alfred Hitchcock, Beauty and the Beast (Disney), The Cat Returns (anime), The Wind Rises (anime), Howl's Moving Castle (anime).   13. What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try?   I'm open to anything that fits within my likes/dislikes from questionnaire. Other info that I forgot to include: I don't like marzipan, and I only like coconut in savory things (like curry) or those little doughnuts with toasted coconut on top. I really don't like, for example, Mounds-style candies.   14. Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom?   I don't think I could pick a favorite fandom if I tried!   15. Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? Please note whether you are willing to add BPALers as friends.   I think I put them in my questionnaire. Yes, I'm happy to add BPALers as friends.   16. Anybody interested in something from RCCC, whether it's con-exclusive merch or from a particular exhibitor or artist?   Nothing specific, but if my witch saw something she thought I'd like, go for it!   17. How important to you is regular contact / chatter with your witch?   I like to be in contact with my witch, and chattiness is great! But I also understand that my witch could be busy, shy, etc. so if you get me and that's you don't feel pressured! If you *are* chatty, by all means, email away.   18. Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing?   Yes!   19. If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions?   I've digitized pretty much all my music at this point, but if my witch sent a CD, I could always rip it, so no big deal.   20. Whats a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you havent had time to address it?   I'd have to think about this one. Nothing comes immediately to mind.   21. How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? i.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin   That would be cool.   22. Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason bad associations?   Nothing that I can think of that a witch would remotely send.   23. For the vegetarians and vegans: How do you feel about things (say, marshmallows or gummy candy) made with vegan gelatin or other typically-animal-derived-but-not-in-this-instance products?   NA for me, but I now that you mention gummies... I love Haribo gummy bears. I understand that they have other gummies too, but the traditional bears are the only ones we can get in our area.   24. Ok, so we've covered pumpkin. How do you feel about the other fall classic – apples?   Personally, I love them. I may have more apple scents than pumpkin ones, in fact, and of course, yum! Apples, apple cider, apple pie (not that a pie would ship well!)... On the other hand, I'm not fond of "green apple" flavored things (think: Skittles, Jolly Rancher, etc.), although I love actual Granny Smiths. Favorite apple: winesap.   25. Do you have any fabric or skin-contact aversions?   I think this was in my questionnaire.   26. How do you feel about Christmas/Yule ornaments?   Not quite ready for them yet.   27. How do you feel about Hello Kitty, and Hello Kitty accessories (including mugs, cups, etc)?   I love Hello Kitty (who is a cat; don't be ridiculous, Sanrio) and also Chococat, although not as much as Tokidoki cats.   28. If you had a week free where you could learn anything, with no financial restrictions, what would you want to study?   I'm a huge wine nerd, and I would love to take a serious wine course, like a week-long workshop or something. I'd also really love to take another course like the ones offered here (I took her Witchcraft 101 course online and really enjoyed it).   29. Do you enjoy poetry? Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like?   Yes. I'll have to come back to this. I worked really hard on this question last night (before my hubby closed the browser tab I left open, ARGH!) and I'll have to start over again.   30. Would you enjoy receiving something related to a favorite Disney character?   Sure. I like the cats!   31. How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? (Example: Would you enjoy this stationery - or do you prefer elegant/creepy/neutral stuff?)   Sure, I would like that (but I probably wouldn't use stationery much; I'd prefer something more along the lines of cards or notepads).   32. What is something you'd really like to receive from your witch? Please be as specific as possible - no, "Oh whatever she thinks is fine!"   Getting to know my witch is always my favorite part. I love it when my witch sends something she's made, or things she loves from where she lives (for example, one witch sent me coffee roasted in her hometown).   33. Go to your music source of choice - on random or shuffle setting if possible - & share with us the 10 most recent songs/artists.   Amanda Palmer - Bottomfeeder REM - Leave U2 - Raised by Wolves Nero - Innocence Beats Antique - Egyptic Bad Religion - American Jesus AFI - Malleus Maleficarum David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust Bauhaus - She's in Parties Boysetsfire - High Wire Escape Artist   Wow, iTunes. Way to get random.   34. Tarot cards, rune stones and/or other divination tools yay or nay?   Yay!   35. Do you have a Celeb crush? or someone who you just can't get enough of....other than your SO   Tom Hiddleston   36. Glitter? are you okay with it, or hate it like the plague?   All that glitters is not Who gives a shit? Ooh, sparkly!   37. If there was another time period other than now that described your style/aesthetics, what would it be?   38. If you had to pick one or two quotes to live by, what would it be and why?   "Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls." – Joseph Campbell This one keeps me going when running my own business gets discouraging.   "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." – Robert A. Heinlein I think the why here is pretty obvious.   39. Do you prefer physical books? CD books? eBooks? If eBooks do you have preferred format, kindle/nook/kobo/PDF/ePub/ect? eAudio?   I prefer eBooks (Kindle, Nook, ePub, whatever). I LOVE audiobooks (and I do have an audible account, the email on the account is the one in my questionnaire).   40. Smut! Yes or no? If yes, what kink, er, kind?   I do enjoy some smut. I love Mei Lin's work. I also tend toward MM romance of the sort written by and for women.   41. Ebooks! Yes or no?   Yay!   42. If you were to get a custom bottle from House of Gloi made for you what notes would create your perfect blend?   Ooooh. I love Haus of Gloi (Ghost Puffs! Must have all the Ghost Puffs!). A perfect blend for me: Leather, tobacco, woodsmoke, vanilla.   43. If your witch were to take a photograph (or paint or whatever) of something just for you, what would it be? Landscape? Flower? Critter? Something to illustrate a favorite quote?   Something with a cat, or a beautiful fall landscape, with colorful leaves.   44. What is your favorite Halloween animal or other symbol/decoration?   Black cats, bats & witches are my favorites.   45. Makeup, especially of the indie variety. Nail polish, nail wraps, eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, etc. Y/N? Specific preferences (color, finish, product, brand, etc.)?   Favorite brands: Urban Decay, Benefit. I'm starting to get into Nyx. Indie-wise, I like Meow Cosmetics, and I'm open to trying others too, particularly ones that have bright, high quality pigments. I love eye shadows and nail polish with that cool color shift effect.   I would love to try Enchanted Polish.   46. How do you feel about profanity and off-color humor?   I have no problem with that.   47. I make hairsticks...would you like/use them?   My hair is only chin length, so it would probably be too short.   48. Does anyone here LARP? If so, what kind of LARP? And what kind of character do you play?   I wish, but sadly no. No one much to LARP with in our area.   49. Would you completely freak out if I sent you a chocolate covered scorpion or some other food oddity? This includes things like 'bacon powder' from thinkgeek.com.   I wouldn't freak out. I'm pretty adventurous. (I don't know if I'd eat a chocolate covered scorpion, though.)   50. This has kind of been covered, but, are you ok with receiving canned jam (from a veteran jammer!) and if so, what flavors would you like and not like?   Sure. Things I wouldn't like: carrot, celery (not sure if either of those would even be an option), pineapple. Something I would love: some kind of yummy tomato jam, strawberry jalapeno jam (someone made some this summer and it was crazy good), something along the lines of a blackberry ginger jam. Hope that's helpful!   51. Let's talk nail polish. What colors do you love? Hate? Which brands are you dying to try? Have you ever used indies? Do you like glitter? Any textures to avoid (glitter, sand, etc)?   Brands I'd love to try: Enchanted Polish, A England, Butter London. Have no texture issues. Colors to avoid: yellow (ugh) and blue (I WANT to use this but it always makes me look like I have corpse hands). Colors I love: Purple (of course), red (particularly deep reds), pink, nudes with a pink or purple base. I love shimmery/color shift polish. I love bright and interesting colors (in makeup also) and have no need to be concerned about "office colors" (that's why I'm the bitch in charge).   52. How do you feel about getting a special Halloween plushie?   I would love it.   53. I'm in Japan, anything specific you might want from the land of the rising sun?   Sadly, I'm guessing you can't ship sushi direct to my door? Hehe. Anyway, let's see... Kit Kats in crazy flavors, Studio Ghibli stuff, cool chopsticks (mine are getting pretty worn out), Maneki Nekos, wasabi or other spicy, crunchy snacks, stickers.   54. Are there any GC scents that you know you love, but for whatever reason, keep putting off buying bottles of?   Not that I can think of off the top of my head, but check my BPAL wish list.   55. I know not everyone likes Lush products, but if you do, which Lush items would you like to get from your Witch?   Lush wishes & faves: D'Fluff (dying to try it), Jackie Oates, Ocean Salt, Dream Cream, It's Raining Men. I'd like to try their makeup too.   56. Is there anywhere (in the US) that you are dying to get away to? Also when would you be able to get away. Would this even be something you were interested in? If so, go look at the Southwest sale for routes and dates and times.   Right now we're really focused on saving for a trip to Brussels (hopefully) later this fall. My hubby has been invited to speak at a seminar.   57. If you are ok with receiving t-shirts, what size are you, do you prefer tissue tees, normal crew tees, babydoll etc?   Size L. I prefer tissue tees.   58. THINKGEEK! Who loves it - do you have a wishlist on there?? What are some things you are jonesing for on there for under $20?   Love it! Blind box Tokidoki cactus kitty (everything else on my wish list is t-shirts and stuff)   59. Zombies, yes or no? Yes   60. Would you like arm warmers/fingerless gloves? If so, what length? just beyond the wrist, almost to the elbow, full sleeves?   Love them! I wear them all fall and winter. I like them just-past-the-wrist style the best (and only have a gray pair of those, so I'd love more colors).   61. Do you feel a particular affinity for a specific animal/s?   I think by now my witch knows the answer to this one.   62. Anyone have any Paintbox Soapworks loves?   Yes! Right now, I'd like some Punkie Night and Indian Summer (are there more Halloweenie ones coming out soon?). What I really, really love is Hayley's new sensitive skin facial scrub (I got to be a tester!) but I don't think it's available yet. I love it, and desperately need more.   63. How would you feel if your witch or a minion of your witch showed up in person at your house with goodies? Thrilled? Annoyed? Completely creeped out?   That would be cool with me, but probably not as cool with my dogs. I have a german shepherd who's super protective, and a Catahoula mix who just follows along with him. So... probably better to let me know in advance!   64. Do you have a ravelry account? Tell me about your yarn obsessions. I'm still learning.   65. Sock Dreams, yay or nay? Yay! Very much yay.   66. Knitted items like scarves, shawls, dishclothes....yay or nay? Favorite fibers? Favorite colors?   I would love that (although not dishclothes, since we use sponges). Natural fibers, and fave colors are in my questionnaire.   67. Is your Amazon WL up-to-date? Pretty much, yeah. I don't think there's anything on there I've already bought.   68. If you were to receive handmade caramels, would it matter if they were made with raw cream (unpasteurized)?   That would be excellent.   69. Would you enjoy getting a sampling of quality incense taken from various sources? Are there types of incense you know you don't like? Would you want a burner for loose incense and a few charcoals to get you started with that, or would you rather stick to simpler types?   I'd love that, and I would like a burner for loose incense and some charcoals. I don't have a very good burner (I'm actually just using a flat candle holder), and I'm almost out of charcoal.   70. I know we already had a question about needed kitchen accessories, but what about spices?   Sure! That would be great.   71. Would you like handmade stationary or cards? How about a quill pen?   Handmade cards would be lovely. I'm not sure about a quill pen. Are they hard to use?   72. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "gimme that ghost pepper!" and 1 being "oh, that's a bit too much black pepper for me" Where is your heat tolerance?   I would say a 10, although I'm actually not that crazy about the flavor of ghost peppers.   73. What is your favorite type of Halloween candy?   If we're talking "things you mostly only see at Halloween," I'd have to go with Mary Janes (those yummy peanut butter candies in orange and black wrappers).   74. Do you need or want any cosy footwear, like fluffy slippers, or slipper socks etc?   When someone asked about Thinkgeek and I went to check my wish list, I sort of fell in love with these, although usually I like the kind that are like a cross between a fuzzy sock and a Mary Jane (shoe, not candy).   75. What do you most look forward to each Fall? Basically everything about it.   76. What gadgets do you use in your everyday life and would you like a cool case for them - with your favourite fandom or artwork or saying?   I'm hoping to pick up an iPhone 6 this week or next, and I'd need a case for it, but you know how that goes. Usually it takes awhile for companies to make cool cases.   77. Are there any beauty accessories you need or would like? For example make-up brushes, facial brushes or eyelash curlers.   I can always use more eye shadow brushes.   78. Would you be disappointed to get one big box, or would you prefer a bunch of little ones? And would you be disappointed if your witch actually had it together early and sent it to you sooner than later?   Either is fine with me.   79. Stores are putting out their halloween PJs and undies! Would you be happy to get any in a package? And if so, what size? For PJ pants, do you like cotton or flannel?   Um... how to put this... I'm not really a PJs kind of girl. Ahem.   80. Do you like M&Ms? Yes!   81. How about wax melts? Also yes!   82. Would you like a subscription for Spotify? I prefer Pandora (but I will mention that our Pandora subscription just expired and we haven't yet renewed it).   83. What scents from the Lillith update would you like to try? Lilly Witch sounds pretty great. (And I won't be ordering, because Weenies.)   84. Would you be interested in receiving a box of sugar cube skulls? Those are pretty cute.   85. Skin care routine? Fave cleanser? Toner? Moisturizer? What about body lotions? Any particular brand or scent? Lip balms? Yay or nay?   Now here's a question I can answer in detail! My routine: In the morning: I typically use a gentle scrub (my new fave is the upcoming Paintbox one for sensitive/dry skin, although I'm out of my sample and right now using the St. Ives apricot kind) with my Clarisonic. Then a Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel pad, followed by Urban Decay b6 prep spray, Clinque Laser Focus, Laser Focus eye cream, Josie Maran Argan Milk, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense, Urban Decay Illuminating beauty balm, and foundation primer (still trying to pick a favorite; I have like three deluxe-size samples I keep waffling between). Then makeup. At night: I use an oil-based cleanser (usually Josie Maran argan oil cleanser, but right now I have some of the Julep kind) and Burt's Bees peach makeup remover cloths (helps with eye makeup), then moisturize.   I realize this is a lot of crap. I might be a tiny bit obsessive on this point.   86. Is there anything you would like from Salem MA (mugs, keychains, postcards, etc.or witchy supplies like incense, candles, books)?   I would love Salem goodies! Mugs and postcards would be lovely, as would witchy supplies. I have a lot of incense, but I'm always looking for unscented candles in various colors, and books. I believe all the books in my witchy library are in my Goodreads for reference.   87. Would you be interested in any of the items in LisaNut's etsy shop? Her scarves are very pretty.   88. Spiders (as in cute knit kind) yes or no? Um... maybe? As long as we're talking cute and knit. I wouldn't be into anything at all realistic, but cute & knit would be just fine.   89. Pillows (the mostly decorative type)? I don't need any at the moment.   90. Any kind of bags - big, small, medium, purse, grocery, etc? I'm pretty well covered there.   91. Is there anything special coming up in your life?   Yes! Hopefully (finances willing) my husband and I are going to Brussels later this fall (think end of November - mid December). He's been invited to speak at a seminar. Also, October 13 is our wedding anniversary.   92. Which one scent would you want from each of the following updates: Metamorphosis, Lilith and GC?   Metamorphosis: Question Mark Lilith: Lily Witch GC:   93. Are you interested in anything from NYCC?   Anything my witch thinks might interest me would be cool.   94. Would something from the Tokyo Game Show (e.g. postcards, fans) possibly interest you?   Sure!   95. Would you enjoy any of these couple rings? Or anything from the same store's Halloween collection?   The floating lockets are cute!   96. If you imbibe at all ... preference between: wine/beer/cocktails and then glassware and/or bar-ware? cocktail gadgetry? Books on the subject/recipes? would you want sample bottles of local/regional/small batch craft spirits if they were home decanted and labeled?   Wine & cider are my favorites. I would love samples of local/regional/small batch craft spirits.   97. Would you like some chai, lemon, rose water or other flavored sugar cubes?   Sure! I've never had any, but they sound fun for tea.   98. Jamberry nail wraps?   I've never tried them, but they look cool!   99. If you had to choose one currently available book (used-but-obtainable counts if you do used) costing $20 or under for your Witch to buy for you, what would it be?   This. I don't think it's still in print, and I've tried to find it and had no luck.   100. Are there five things under $25 at Birchbox you would like?   1. Benefit Lollibalm (I bought one of these over the summer, loved it, then lost it on a weekend trip. ) 2. TokyoMilk Dark Lip Elixir in Salted Caramel (my absolute favorite lip balm) 3. Japonesque Complete Lash Kit 4. Jane Tran Basic Bobby Pins 5. C.O. Bigelow Lemon Body Cream   101. Do you want anything from the Fatherhood update at the Post?   I'd love to try A Stroll Through the Quarter, Mornings in New Orleans, Pralines & Powdered Sugar.   102. Street art! Into it? Not into it? Meh? Love it!   103. If you could only pick one note that you love (e.g. Vanilla, Orange, Lavender, Rose) & you could only wear/have perfume, etc in that note, what would it be?   Ooh, that's tough. Either vanilla or apple.   104. What are you interested in from the NYCC exclusive list?   Oh my. Apples! Lips of Flame and Heart of Stone, The Gas Lamps' Flare, The Bear in the Cellar, either of the Eve's Big Apple Hair Glosses.   105. Most anticipated "Weenie blends?   Oh my. I would love to try: Bonfire, Last Year’s Stale Candy Corn, Pile of Fallen Leaves, Pumpkin I, Pumpkin II, Pumpkin Spice Everything, Visions of Autumn III, Tattie Bogle (actually I have tried this one; I had an imp and liked it). I haven't ordered anything yet. Have to wait for funds to make themselves available.   106. Caffeine or no? And is this a health or preference?   Caffeine is fine. I don't like energy drinks, though. They're just... gross, usually.   107. Are you interested in anything from the MAC Rocky Horror or the e.l.f. Disney Princess make up collections?   Sadly, the Rocky Horror colors don't look like ones I could wear. I don't know about the e.l.f. ones. I've never tried e.l.f.   108. I pass this shop every day, If you were my witchee would you like a custom chocolate bar? What would you choose? Plain, white or milk and with what? 109. Would you like to try chocolate covered Turkish Delight or flower flavoured things (Rose and Violet chocolates)?   Yum! Praline & sea salt. Rose and violet look great too. I love to try new/unusual things.   110. For those of you who like Fantasy or play Dungeons and Dragons... would you be interested in a custom painted miniature? If so, what gender, race and class? Any preferences for a theme, color scheme, preferred weapons/armor, etc? Specific character description you would want me to try to hit?   Female half-elf mage, chaotic neutral, is my usual jam.   111. Are there any local or national charities that are close to your heart that you know would appreciate a donation in your name?   Locally, my favorite is MBM Spay/Neuter Clinic. Nationally, I love love love Big Cat Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society.   112. I have two partial (Backup) bottles of some scents on your wishlist, Witchee. However, the labels aren't perfect, due to a tragic imp explosion. Would you still be ok with getting them?   I am not a label perfectionist. It's what's inside that I love!

13 Days 2014 questions

Fandoms: Harry Potter, Dr. Who, Rick Riordan's Olympus books (not quite as much with the Egyptian ones), Firefly, to an extent World of Warcraft. Oh, and I adore Minions and Minion Mashups (I have a Firefly, a Star Wars, and The Minions have the Tardis on t-shirts already) , old school Final Fantasy stuff (like pre FFX) Fandoms in which I have *no* interest: MLP, Supernatural, Walking Dead, True Blood, Frozen Wax/oil burner — I have…3 wax warmers? So stuff for them would be welcome…more on the clean/woodsy/citrusy spectrums of things, please. I live with very picky noses. Loose fancy tea: Always. I love most tea, flavored or otherwise; black teas are favorites, oolong, green, white, and herbals are also loved. I'm not a fan of rooibos, and I don't care for anise/licorice flavors in tea. I'm also totally happy with tea bags since they're really handy for work. Incense: Sadly no, the sensitive noses again. I have to sit outside and burn incense on the back patio if I want to use it, so needless to say, I don't do this often. Autumn activities: Garden harvesting and cleanup, spending early mornings outside with a hot drink and a shawl, going to hike up in the park when the elk come down and the leaves start turning, drinking an ungodly amount of fresh cider, carving a pumpkin. New Question! I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? I love pretty stationery. I tend to lean toward minimalist and elegant when it comes to designs, but something small and cute would be awesome, too.   New Question: Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I am open to most anything, just no superlong stuff. I think a 24" chain is as long as I would want, otherwise I get hung up on stuff. I mostly wear silver tones, but I also like copper, occasionally some brass or mixed metals. I wear earrings, bracelets, and anklets as well. Oh, I could actually use a cool lanyard since I have an ID badge around my neck for work and right now it's on a boring old company lanyard. New question: What about hot chocolate/malted drinks like ovaltine? Never actually had Ovaltine, but I like chocolate malts and malt balls, so I imagine I'd enjoy it. I do like hot chocolate.   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? Whatever works best for my swapper!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? Entirely up to my dear swapper. If you think something sounds fun to do, go for it, I'm sure I'll get a kick out of it, too.   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Sure, but I'd have no idea what. I will say I don't like horror at all. I don't mind suspense, or classically bad cheese like Army of Darkness, but normal horror ends up either boring or sickening in my experience.   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? As with movies, nothing too horrific. I can handle a little dark and creepy…for example a couple vampire books I love: Let the Right One In and Robin McKinley's Sunshine. Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? I'm fine with whatever on both counts, reveal when you'd like, be ninja, make me guess, whatever. =) And packages, again, whatever. All numbered, some numbered, some free day, all free day, whatever you'd like to do. Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Solid perfume sounds fun in theory—I wanted to buy one of the Pink Sand scent balms from Paintbox this summer, but I was too slow. I like the idea of lightly scented balms I can use on my nails/cuticles because everything cracks in the cooler weather. Lip balms are awesome and always welcome. I have no fewer than 3 in rotation at a time. There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I don't know about specifically halloween themed since that limits wearability (I do have a nifty t-shirt I was given last year decorated with a skull entirely made of sewing notions—safety pins and thread bobbins, and that's kind of awesome). In general I would prefer something that could be worn all season, fall-themed, or I dunno, something with a raven on it, stuff like that. I'm a college student and my job is super casual, so as long as there's no profanity on anything, it's all good.   I'm going to Rose City Comic Con during the shopping window. Any exhibitors/vendors/comics/etc. you're particularly interested in? No flipping clue, but it sounds awesome. I like small bits of things a lot—postcard sized prints, buttons I can stick on my backpack, stuff like that. Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos stuff: Love it. Does anything from this shop catch your eye (https://www.etsy.com/shop/DebaucherousBathBody)? body/perfume scents: Spider Silk!, Big Bad Wolf, Debaucheorus Amber, Hedonistic, Mr. Hyde, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, The Queen Bee, Moonshine, Black Honey, Prince Charming, Buttermilk Nectar lip balm: sweet nectar, blossom, gyokuro imperial, lucinda, cherry limeade, orxata, opuntia, yasmin   Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? Not a huge fan of centipede-y type stuff, but I like most other insects, bees, wasps, and moths are probably my favorite creepy crawlies. I would appreciate not getting anything rattlesnakee-ish, since we deal with enough live ones out here, but I don't have a phobia or anything. How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? sure! jams, jellies, pickled veggies, fruit butters, any of the above would be welcome Do you have a favourite colour scheme? I do a lot with browns and blues together, and I like neutral color schemes with jewel tones as accents, stuff like that? I just generally love rich, deep colors. How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? Stickers are great in theory but I forget to use them. I love stationery, plain pretty paper or something with a simple design on it   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? I'd be happy with anything along those lines. More subtle on a halloween theme so I could wear it more than a couple days a year though would be better.   What makes you feel pampered? I don't do pampered very well. I like savoring occasional indulgent things (I can make a really good chocolate bar last for a week, and I'm known to eat desserts in mousebites). I love making a cup of really nice loose leaf tea on a chilly day and taking it outside in the garden while wearing my baby alpaca lace shawl, that to me is totally self-pampering: nice soft fuzzy stuff, delicious tea... We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? dragonflies, moths, bees, dogs, foxes, coyotes, birds, bobcats, wolves....hell, I love most critters, but there are a few specifics I'm totally fine with Halloweenie critters like bats and spiders and cats as well. =)   Is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? I like maple candy, no idea about weird chip flavors, honestly. I'm always curious about area-specific stuff.     Does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye? love her stuff. Bookkeepers butter is the best nail/knuckle/cuticle stuff ever, but it also lasts forever so I don't need anymore right now. =) Scents: Blackbird, The Englishman, Bees Lament sounds incredible, Gooseberry Beach, Aquae Sulis, High in the 70s Stuff: Soaps ( just nothing with glitter on it), Sorbetto, scent balm, wax melts in Gooseberry or Aqua   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) Passion is an old favorite, the apricot vanilla white sounds kind of interesting, too How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) Yunnan Golden Pu-Erh, maybe the Earl Grey Creme, a plain Oolong, sangria punch black, Fig Rose, Dragonfruit Devotion, I'm kind of curious about the Tomato Lime Cocktail. How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? no thank you. How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? no thanks Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? nowhere to use them Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? I love mugs. Probably ok on travel mugs (I have a coffee tumbler and a tea/water tumbler, because coffee flavors everything), but I could use a ceramic mug for work. I realized I'd like to make chai and bring it with me, but my travel mugs are not microwave safe. Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? I could use a spare tea steeper that would hold enough tea for a 16 oz mug, so I don't have to bring my tea ball from home for work. Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? I honestly wouldn't know what. I like honey in my tea/coffee occasionally, or a little flavoring in my coffee, I don't know if they make tiny bottles of syrups, but I occasionally like vanilla, hazelnut, or whatever the cinnamon dolce stuff is.   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? sure! i can wrangle someone into playing with me.     Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? don't do anything that you're worried will get you in trouble. hard liquor-wise I tend to stay on the whiskey and scotch side of things.   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? yay. not sure about all the wild flavors coming out, pumpkin spice I would probably pass on, but i think I saw a caramel apple one that I'd try? I do actually like normal candy corn, I just have to figure out how to humidify it out here in the high plains.     Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. anything particularly gory. Totally cool with that.   For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have no allergies, but scratchy stuff near the skin is not my best plan, I will scratch the hell out of myself if even a clothing tag makes me itch.

13 Nights of Halloween 2014

A roundup of the in-thread questions with answers!   Fandoms. I have many. A partial list:       I'm constantly looking for another universe to fall into, especially if the entire series is on Netflix Instant. Caveat: I feel like the only person in the world utterly uninterested in Sailor Moon, Lord of the Rings, or My Little Pony. ETA: Or Nightmare Before Christmas. I *knew* I was forgetting something crucial for this swap. It's *okay*, and I feel like I *should* like it because the director lives here (or at least he did around the time he made Coraline because this is where Laika lives), but it just doesn't grab me as a must-see Halloween movie like Donnie Darko does.   Wax/oil burner — Yes! I have one! It’s *adorable*! A mama turtle with a baby turtle on her back! The baby turtle is a LID so I can COVER THE MELTED WAX so curious kitties don't dip their paws in it!   Loose fancy tea: Ooh, yes! I used to live in Seattle and developed a severe fondness for Dammann Freres (ugh, SO EXPENSIVE) Jardin Bleu and Earl Grey Gout Russe, and I haven't found anything close to those two flavors. I love berry-scented black and Earl Grey variations! And Adagio! I used to get their Forest Berries and Cream teas and mix them together for iced tea. I haven't thought about that in ages! I got an Earl Grey Cream from somewhere that was fantastic, but I can't remember where. If decaf is an option, I do prefer that so I can drink it later in the day! So... Uh. Yeah. Love tea!   Incense: Love it. Always forget how much I love it until I stumble across the remains of a long-forgotten pack that has lost its scent! I think my only limit is no resin incense, only because I don't have a resin burner.   Autumn activities: Um... Cleaning my apartment because it's finally not a steambox and changing my makeup rotation box to earthier colors? Does that count? I love holing up for the weekend with tea and books. Month-of-October festivities always mean even more horror movies than usual. I used to go to San Francisco for a long weekend at the beginning of November to rest up for the rest of the year when I had a job with a nasty year-end crunchtime, but I don't work there anymore, so I haven't gone to SF since, like, 2007. It's funny how much I love autumn but don't really have any rituals to celebrate the season other than breaking out the Weenies (once that year's update hits) and Yules (after Dia de los Muertos)!   New Question! I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Hmm... I love yogurt-flavored candy!   New Question: Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? Not a jewelry person, alas. At all. I bought a bunch of long necklaces last year because I thought I would wear them ALL OF THE TIME. And... Not so much.   New question: What about hot chocolate/malted drinks like ovaltine? Love hot chocolate! I haven't had Ovaltine in probably thirty years, but i remember loving that stuff as well!   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? I don't really have a preference!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? I love themes, but I love *fun* themes! If it's boring, don't do it!   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Love movies. There are several on my amazon wishlist, but if it's a recent movie (released in the past five years or so), I probably don't have it, whether it's on my list or not (I think the only movies I've bought that have come out in the past five years are Veronica Mars and Inception). I'm a hardcore horror fan. This is not restricted to Halloween! Dark, black, psychologically twisted, disturbing stuff -- love it. I'm also realizing I'm a huge science fiction fan but never quite realized it until recently. Not sure how I missed *that* all these years! I also love good mysteries and thrillers. I'm *not* a romcom fan *at all*. Comedies are okay, but they're not my go-to like horror (honestly, I think the reason I like Halloween so much is because it gives me a reason to binge on horror flicks). (I do prefer plot in my horror movie, though. A splatterfest with no story is just a boring special effects reel as far as I'm concerned.)   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? When it comes to big-name authors (Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman, Neal Stephenson, Chelsea Cain, Stephen King, Joe Hill, Philip K. Dick, probably more I can't think of off the top of my head, but, basically, the heavy hitters), please stick to my wishlist because I do have some of their work (in some cases, more than others!). For less-known authors, the most likely reason they're not on my list is because I don't know about them, so if you have a favorite, I would love to curl up with it! I love scary, disturbing stuff!   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? Hmm... Good question. I want to know *eventually*, but I don't have a preference whether it's right away or at the end. I don't have a preference for sequentially or not, either. Whatever is more fun for you!   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Solid perfume: Not particularly. I always *think* I want some, and then I get some, and then I don't wear it. I have three of them that I never wear in my bag right now! Lip balm, on the other hand, is *always* within four feet of me. I'm always on the lookout for more no matter how much I already have!   There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? Scarves/shawls/wraps and ankle-length socks, sure. Goth/Halloween-themed tops/skirts/vests/etc. aren't my style. [This was a question I asked. I'm leaving it in here for people who might be checking this entry out to grab all of the questions!]   Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos stuff: Yes! Love it! (Really, I think it boils down to this for me: If there's a skull involved, I dig it. _Hamlet_, pirates, Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, Dan Aykroyd's vodka: All fantabulous. I draw the line at _Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull_, though.)   Does anything from this shop catch your eye? Body/perfume stuff: Rockabilly, Black Cat, Beguiling Violette, The Red Queens Rage Corpse Bride, Dead Corsage, Alice's Nightmare in Wonderland, Cheshire's Grin, Sweet Jezebel, Zombie Girl, Mad Hatter Tea Cakes, Beware of the Kraken, Stanko. Lip balm: Lemon Drop, Pin Up Babe, Blossom, Sweet Nectar, Blackberry Honey, Cherry Limeade, Yasmin.   Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? I'm pretty sure I covered this in my survey, but NO SPIDERS. Or bugs. Or anything with more appendages than your average mammal. I'm not a huge fan of snakes or worms, but that's more like "eh, they exist" than anything else. Bugs, spiders, cockroaches, insects, etc.: No no no no no. And no. (Bats to me are just flying rats. I say this as someone who has had pet rats in the past and doesn't really understand _Willard_ because it's like watching a horde of rampaging kittens. All of that is to say that bats are awesome. Also: Fruit bats and flying foxes belong to a family of bat called megabat. I cannot dislike anything with the prefix "mega.") (And owls fall in somewhere in between. My tendency to avoid them is more because owl stuff is omnipresent, like like deer stuff was a few years ago.)   How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? They're lovely!   Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Not particularly. I tend to go for browns and greens for my living room since the carpet and walls are brown (brown + green = trees!), but when it comes to everything else, I think my preferred color schemes are Bollywood combinations. Aqua and purple, tangerine and fuchsia (I normally hate orange, but in combination with something like fuchsia, it's great), tangerine and aqua, purple and green, etc. I also tend to gravitate towards hot pink and fuchsia for some reason.   How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I tend to lose those sorts of things, although if it was a neat waterproof sticker, I could put it on my waterbottle!   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? As long as it's not wool (allergies) or itchy, it's great! Skulls, bats, and cats, oh my! Ahem. Yeah. I love Halloween motif-y things. When it comes to clothes and accessories, I tend to not wear many autumnal colors except dark greens and purples.   What makes you feel pampered? A clean apartment coupled with supplies to hide from the world for the weekend. A book, some tea, snacks -- that sort of thing. I'm not big on at-home spa days, but I love being a hermit every once in a while.   New Question! We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? In a word, mammals! Otters, monkeys, wolves, pandas, giraffes, squirrels, beavers, bats, dogs, deer, cats, IT'S TOO EARLY AND I CAN'T THINK OF ANY MORE. Ahem. Yes. I'm a sucker for mammals of pretty much all varieties. Also hummingbirds (my grandmother *loved* them, and we like to say that anytime we see a hummingbird, it's her coming back to visit us).   I have a dumb question! I know it's a big joke that we get everything five years later than everyone else in the world, but is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? A random thing that I used to get *every single time* I went to BC: There was this popcorn place called, uh, Kernels, maybe, in Eaton Centre (I think), and they had this butter toffee popcorn that was *amazing*. Double Double, maybe? I'm not a fan of caramel corn because I don't like molasses, but I love butter toffee popcorn! Also, Maynard's candy. Swedish berries, Juicy Squirts, wine gums. Potato chips: Fries'n'gravy, maybe? (I used to go to BC and buy ten different flavors of chips just to try them all, but I think fries'n'gravy came around after the passport laws changed, so I missed out on those.) And I have to toss a fondness for Tylenol 1s in there as well. Sometimes I just need codeine to fully stomp out those headaches. And is Dentyne Ice gum in Midnight Mint still around? That's another thing I used to buy in bulk, which is weird because I normally *hate* the taste of licorice, but there was something about that gum that I loved. Yeesh, I miss being able to get up at 6am, drive up to Canada, and get back home by midnight!   A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye? Lots of stuff! Clean Slate facial scrub. Bookkeeper's Butter Intense Hand Salve. Scrubs/creams/lotions only (that is, no bar soap): The Bees' Lament, Punkie Night, Guy Fawkes, Indian Summer, Miss Ada (eee! My girlkitty was named Ada, and I frequently called her Miss Ada! I miss her), Sweet Cheeks, Blackbird, Mandinka. I didn't see any wax tarts that really caught my attention.   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) Anything without licorice or rose hips (I used to work in a place where I drank my way through a *lot* of Tazo, and I realized that I loved everything without those two things)! I’m also curious about the Oprah Chai (love chai!).   How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) Earl Grey Creme, Sevenberry Sangria Rooibos, Opus Rouge Rooibos, any of the rooibos chais, Javavana mate, Pumpkin Spice Brûlée Oolong, Earl Grey White.   How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? Yes! Whole bean, please. I do pourover, so I have to do Turkish grind, and that’s not something you want to do even a day in advance.   How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Nothing with sugar. Aside from that, not really picky.   Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? K-cups would be awesome! We have a Keurig at work and occasionally run out of decent K-cups, so I like to have my secret emergency stash for such tragedies.   Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? I love mugs, whether ceramic home or travel! (In fact, I recall TwilightEyes sending me a travel mug ages ago for fairying Snow Glass Apples. Yes, I can remember the specific reason she sent it. I lost it at some point and still mourn its absence from my life!) (And I am particularly coveting anything from the Siren collection!   Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? Tea steeper! Even though I have one, it's one of those things that it would be awesome to have a spare of.   Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? Sugar-free syrups are awesome! I use SF hazelnut and vanilla in my coffee already, and I'm curious about the SF caramel and cinnamon dolce syrups! How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? No, thank you. It’s not the gently-used thing. It’s the I’m-a-hermit-who-doesn’t-play-games-with-other-people thing! The cats swear they will play games just as soon as they develop opposable thumbs. They are seriously falling down on the job.   Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay (mostly I'm thinking minis, tho I did get a full bottle of liqueur in a Switch Witch years ago!)-- if yay, what kind? Yay! Halloween-time is when I remember that I love stuff that will go nicely in hot cocoa. I’m also curious about apple liqueurs (maybe pear or cherry as well) because it seems like they would be wonderful in apple cider.   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? Yay! And all of the variations, and those pumpkin things, too, and that mix with candy corn/pumpkins/etc. I always forget how much I love this stuff until I get a bag and discover it mysteriously empty a short time later! (Weird candy corn product I found last year that I’m going to have to recreate on my own if I can’t find it pre-mixed: Salted peanuts and candy corn. I love that salt-and-sweet combination.) And candy corn scented/flavored stuff, like shower gel/lotion or lip balm? LOVE.   New Question! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. Hmm... Wool or scratchy fibers! I'm allergic to wool, and I just DO NOT LIKE scratchy! Also itty bitty decorative confetti-type or glitter things as part of the packaging. My kitties tend to "help" me unwrap my packages, and they have been known to chew on the packing materials. I love glitter in my makeup. I do not like it in my kitties!   does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? Cost Plus is one of my big danger stores, so I haven't gone there in a while just because I'm scared of how much money I will spend there. After a quick glance through their website EEE! SO MUCH COOL STUFF! Skull stuff, bat stuff, Dia de los Muertos stuff, so much awesome! Ooh, they even have cat luminaries that use LED tealights instead of real candles with flames! Those look cool, although I'm not sure how long they would last in my apartment with the monsters since they're made out of paper. (And aside from Halloween stuff, I'm always a sucker for Buddha iconography.   does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? Define "need"! I love those things, especially if they're holiday- or seasonally-oriented. I have no *need* for, say, a or leaf-shaped pancake turner or a spatula with ghosts on it. I have a huge *want*, though!   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I could have sworn I already answered this one. Love them! Target used to put some out in the men's section every Halloween, and I would buy them in pretty much every design, but they haven't had any in several years. If I'm at home, I'm usually wearing them (even though they're, like, ten years old!). Knit ones are best, in men's XL.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? Medium-long? It's down past my shoulders and almost to my bra band, and it's getting longer due to my apathy towards haircuts. I tend to put it up in an elastic ribbon hairtie that I make (one part twistbands are ridiculously expensive for what they are, one part they're too small for my mass of hair anyway, but I would love other accessories for putting it up, like hair sticks/forks or something to cover a knot/bun.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves? I tend to go for fruity hand soaps, preferably apple or pear when it comes to autumnal scents. I sleep with my hands next to my face, and I get strangely weirded out if my hands don't smell like fruit! (I'm not a big fan of pomegranate, but OTOH, it's more of a winter fruit than autumn anyway, and I hate banana, full stop.)   If you have an Etsy favorites list, are all of the things on the list things you'd be happy to get, or are some of them gift ideas for other people, or stuff that you've already bought and loved but don't need more of, or for any reason not something you'd want to get in this swap? They're all things I've been eying for myself! It's basically one of my "I'm bored and killing time until the bus gets here/my lunch is ready/it's my turn at the cash register/etc." things: Pull out the phone, fire up the etsy app, and window shop.   what are your favorite animals/any aversion to animals or insects? Monkeys. Absolute favorite. Also: Black cats, bats, otters. Really, mammals in general. Aversion: Spiders, worms, bugs, centipedes, etc. Hate hate hate.   are there any scents from the Lilith update you would like ? Any other you are looking for ? As far as Liliths go, Hearts for Ghost Friends and Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha. Others are in my wishlist. Last night, I realized that I missed pretty much an entire year of updates!

13 Nights of Halloween swap questions

2015 questions:   No disappointments with or without Halloween things.   Would you be interested in gently used BPAL tees going back several years and/or 80s/90s goth-industrial-generally morbid tees all in crew neck/Men's style, size M - L, all black or dark gray? Sure, but I'm more of an XL   How do you feel about superheroes? Love   How do you feel about Star Wars, especially extension universe comics? I don't know about the extension universe, but I love Star Wars.   How extensively have you sampled the Lab's Weenie wares? Any past releases you are dying to get your hands on? Years you missed? Weenies are sometimes hit or miss for me. I LOVE the idea of them. I have a tester of smut, which I love.   GC & easily found desires: TKO 51 Shanghai Zombi   Oh, and I have a question: In books, movies, art, etc., are there any common horror themes (demonic possession, clowns, serial killers, spooky/evil children, zombies, insect infestations, mutilation, etc.) that you really don't want to see? I am not a fan of torture or rape. I don't like the saw movies. I love horror movies, but honestly I prefer psychological thrillers over boo gotcha or slasher flicks.   Wishbones? I don't have a preference either way as long as it's not a real wishbone.     I love to cook. I don't bake often. I love Halloween everything.     What I look forward to for fall: Cool weather! Renaissance festival Halloween Decorating for Halloween Halloween party Soups   Do you collect anything? Art Vinyl toys Indie nail polish Bpal Stickers (mostly artist made or printed, local businesses, or bands) Cacti   I LOVE pistachios.   Do you like Japanese/Korean snackies? If so do you prefer sweet/savory or both? Yessiree. I like both sweet & savory, but am also in the not meat camp.   Do you prefer light lotions or thick butters and do you like scented or unscented? I'm good with both. I use them at different times.   Do you like small crossbody bags? Yes, as long as they are minimally patterned.     favorite stuff: Bob's Burgers, IT Crowd, Dr. Who, Portal, Bioshock, pugs, owls, monsters (of any sort), The Dead Kennedy's, The Buzzcocks, The Ramones, Kathleen Hannah, tattoos, torches, & vintage oddities.   coffee: I'm good with ground or beans & I also have a keurig dealie, so those work too. I like all kinds of coffee except blonde.   soap: I'm mostly a soap person, but I take shower gel when I travel, which is often. I'm not a huge fan of glycerine soap, but if it looks cool enough or smells amazing, then I tend to make an exception.   Is there an item that you would like but you never seem to buy for yourself as other things often take preference (darn those bills)? My wish lists are filled with the things that I put in my shopping cart & move over to the wish lists instead of pushing the "checkout" button.   If you listed you like books: what kind of books? What are your favorites? Do you also like the "English classics"? Are there any books or writers that you really don't like? I like most books. My favorites are those with philosophical or psychological undertones. I'm good with fiction or non-fiction. I like English classics; I own a lot of them, though. I don't prefer cheesy romances, westerns, or military/war themed books.   What are your favorite musicians, favorite singers or bands? Anything or anyone you really don't like? I covered a huge range of genre's in my survey, but my favorite artists are The Dead Kennedy's, The Buzzcocks, & The Ramones. I'm not a fan of pop, country, rap, or modern radio rock. There are exceptions to most of those rules though.     Tea: I like all tea except for jasmine tea. My go to is David's tea, but I'm certainly open to trying anything you have in mind     Dearest swappee, have you seen the launch of this year's Yankee Candle Boney Bunch line as well as other Halloween items from there? Are there any you'd particularly like to get? The adorbs tart warmer? The taper candle holder, perhaps? I had not seen it, but wow those are stinking cute, like all of them. I am bad at remembering to burn candles, but fabulous about switching on a wax warmer. I love the wax melt/warmer related items.   If you have any Chaos Theory bottles on your wishlists, would you mind getting bottles on several days of this swap? If you listed wearables - what sizes? Are your forearms skinny or bulky? Nope I'm good with multi-day bottles. I wear xl clothing & size US 6 feet. I think my forearms are fairly average. I'm definitely curvy & not skinny     What kind of items would you like to get that are not available in your country? I'd appreciate anything really. Of course snacks.   Yarn wearables: I'm good with yarn as long as it's not too warm. I live in a HOT city.   How do you feel about home baked cookies? Is there anything that should be left out (nuts, milk, eggs, gluten, etc)? How do you feel about recieving pens? If you like them, do you have a prefered stroke size (ie: do you prefer a thick or fine stroke)? Any prefered colors (assume the sky is the limit here)? I love home baked cookies. I'm not a huge fan of oatmeal, but everything else is fair game. I can always use pens, but I'm not super particular about them.   2014 questions:   Thoughts on yarn & yarns things I am completely inadequate in regards to making something with yarn, but I appreciate the wonderful things OTHER people make out of it.   for bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? Both   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I have one, but the way my house is laid out I would not be opposed to another. I almost never turn mine off.   would you like loose, fancy tea? I love tea in any form. I actually have a designated tea shelf in my pantry.   Incense y/n? Not for me, thanks.   New Question: Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I make jewelry for a living, so I'm almost always wearing my own necklaces. Earrings are also out for me. I tend to like understated bracelets of all kinds.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? Hot chocolate is fun in the fall! I like cold malts (like a shake), but I've never had a hot malted drink. Sounds interesting!   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? I love the idea of solid perfume, but unfortunately the scent doesn't stick on me. I have a gorgeous smelling Tokyo milk one, that stays for like 15 minutes. I love lip balm and am always interested.     There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? Yep. That all sounds fabulous. Suitable is irrelevant for me. I have no dress code to adhere to.     Rose City Comic Con? These are the people that specifically strike my fancy, but I'm down for surprises & ps I love stickers... Devon Devereaux, Imps and Monsters, Every single artist at Screaming Sky, nail art deals at espionage, the gorgonist, & tinplate studios.     Day of the dead? big yes!   Does anything from this shop catch your eye? https://www.etsy.com/shop/DebaucherousBathBody?section_id=10332462&page=3 The scents that sound immediately intriguing are: beguiling violet, lychee bubble tea, Indian summer, spider silk, & chocolade. Any of the forms are great with me.   Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? For example, I had a coworker who found owls creepy. I'm not a fan of cockroaches, but I'm fine with spiders, snakes, owls, and bats. Just worms & caterpillars. They're horrible, Snakes are ok.   How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those? I'm not generally a fan.   Do you have a favourite colour scheme? I like all colors. My favorite color is teal, but I'm not married to it.   How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I love stickers! stickers stickers stickers... I like stationary too, but it tends to get a little less use.   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? I live in TX, so knitted wearables get use for about 2 weeks out of the year. I love them though, & I love skulls. I friggin' love crafted critters. It's a weakness.   What makes you feel pampered? I'm a bad pamperer. I don't generally take the time, but I do enjoy a nice cup of tea & smelling yummy.   New Question! We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? Pretty much ALL of them. I have a special affinity towards pugs, owls, birds, & monsters (cute and/or scary).   Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay (mostly I'm thinking minis, tho I did get a full bottle of liqueur in a Switch Witch years ago!)-- if yay, what kind? Yes please. (= I like everything other than gin.   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? Big nay. Blech.   does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world Market? I almost always love their Halloween collections. Also, always curly whirlys, & toffee crunch cadbury cookies.   does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? I don't have many gadgets, so I'm open to whatever you think is cool. I'm ok with decanted pigments, but I'm a strictly neutral girl.   For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have no allergies that I'm aware of, but I do live in Houston where it gets below 50 for like 2 weeks a year. I'm not the most fabulous baker, but will certainly experiment with anything you deem worthy to send along.   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I am pro comfy pants. My studio is the bottom floor of my house, so I wear them whenever I'm not leaving my house, which is a little too often. I'm also in the big, comfy XL club.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? I have longish hair. The only thing I usually put in my hair other than bobby pins is a bandana or a scarfy thing.   If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you wanted some dehydrated apple rings??? Yes.   new question from me! how do you feel about music? would you like some? if so, what would you be interested in & in what format (do you still have somewhere to play CDs, or would a flash drive be better, etc)? yes. Any format is fine.   If you have an Etsy favorites list, are all of the things on the list things you'd be happy to get, or are some of them gift ideas for other people, or stuff that you've already bought and loved but don't need more of, or for any reason not something you'd want to get in this swap? It's all things I'd be happy to get.   Do you like Hello Kitty? Not particularly.

13 Nights of Halloween Questions 2014

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things?   Handmade anything is awesome and love and fabulous. But despite many many attempts at yarncraft I have come to the conclusion that I shall never be adept at things involving anything larger than an embroidery needle and floss.   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower?   I can do either with pretty much anything. All the bath and shower things!   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey?   Nothing I can think of at the moment.   Are there any particular fandoms that you follow?   Fandoms (by which I mainly mean things I would be happy to receive swag about): Harry Potter (Ravenclaw here), Doctor Who, Muppets, Nightmare Before Christmas, StarWars (especially Yoda or Princess Leia or droids), Game of Thrones, Sandman, Firefly, Lego, Princess Bride   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) Incense, y/n?   Oil/Wax/Incense/Candles:Scented candles in nommy autumnal scents are cool, no incense, wax melts/tarts or burning oils, please.   Would you like loose, fancy tea?   All the chocolatey, autumnal flavored tea.I also love a good Earl Gray.   What is your favorite fall activity?   Favorite activities - I have to go to a pumpkin patch with the kids. And then we have to carve crazy-ass jack o lanterns. October is probably my favorite month of the year - the weather here is fabulous - cool and crisp, but not cold yet. I love having whatever giant creature my husband and son come up with in our yard, and our skelemingos and other silly-creepy things. I love prepping for our Halloween party and then Halloween itself - filling the big candy bowl and getting the first wee trick-or-treaters...I really can't pick just one thing, but if I absolutely had to, it would probably be the pumpkin patch.   I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want?   Cute Halloweenie Sanrio stuffs would be fun, or other similar items. Probably not much in the way of sweets or snacks.   Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear?   What I really seriously kind of sort of need, to the extent that it is possible for me to actually *need* jewelry at this point in my life, is a bracelet in purples/blues. I particularly like loose bracelets with a single charm. I don't like what I think of as hippy-quasi-Indian flowery fittings between beeds. I would also love Halloweenie themed bracelets or earrings (I have a necklace that I love and can only wear this time of year already).   In terms of necklaces, something purple and/or red would be cool. I have a lot of blues and plain silver and oranges and even a couple of green tone ones, but purple in particular is missing, despite being my favorite color. I have been particularly drawn to long drapey multi-strand things lately, but really, I just love big bold colorful statement jewelry that leans modern (as opposed to Victorian or hippy costume beads), although I also love art deco/nouveau.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks?   I kind of have more hot chocolate than I will ever be able to use and most of the time I am too lazy to actually heat milk, etc unless I'm making Hershey's for the kids. That said, if you have a line on amazing pumpkin spice hot chocolate where you just add water, I'm all in. As for malt drinks, assuming you mean like Ovaltine or something, I'm not strictly opposed, but it's not something I seek out and I'd probably prefer my carbs elsewhere.     If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages?   Personally, while I wouldn't want, say 4 days of books and 5 days of DVDs and just 4 of other goodies, I would be cool with receiving 2-3 days of books if they are things you think I would really love.   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all?   I would probably be more into general Halloweenie/Autumnal theming than say bologna or mincemeat. If it helps my treater out of a bind or if zie really can have a lot of fun with it, have at.   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort?   Anything on my Amazon wishlist is fair game, if not terribly thematic. I don't have a whole lot of time to watch tv, period, unless it's at least 11 year old friendly, but I would love to see "Let the Right One In" and I have a fondness for old Steven King movies.   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads?   Personally, books are love. I would particularly love a new thematic anthology (I have Halloween by Paula Guran and send it to everyone in these things...which means I'll have to make that last this time if I repeat it) or something kind of scary or otherwise autumnal, but really anything you think I'd love would be fabulous. My next project still in progress on goodreads is shelving my "want to read" books into "have them/don't have them", since right now it's a mix, but it should give you some ideas at the very least.   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy?   I definitely want to know who you are. I don't feel super strongly about when I find out, although tradition leans toward the end. In terms of numbering, both a free for all and specific numbering are fun, so whatever strikes you as most appropriate.     Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm?   I'm very much a BPAL only girl, so no on solid perfume. Lip balm forever, though, especially if it has SPF.     There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable?   I could probably get away with a costume more than actual club-wear and since I never actually get to wear any of the club wear I already own (and in fact might be raiding my stash of jewelry from my hardcore goth days for this swap, I'm a no on the gothy clothes question. I would love Halloweenie socks, accessories, fingerless gloves/armwarmers, t-shirts and other accessories (I'd lean more toward black/purple/spiders/bats than orange and pumpkins for anything other than socks or maybe jewelry). For that matter, a long wig could be fun - I actually borrowed a long black and purple wig and wore it to a work lunch for Halloween last year.   Rose City Comicon - Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? I didn't see anything that jumps out at me in the vendor list, but my inner 12-year-old will fight your inner 12-year-old for Goonies. Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? I go back and forth on DDLM stuffs (as opposed to my much hoarded stash of the 2004 DDLM oil. I would love some sugar skull earrings, otherwise, I'm pretty particular. Question for all you knitters, crocheters and people who like yarn and yarnie things; can you give somebody just one or two balls of yarn? Can you make something out of that? Is it useful? This is definitely not directed at me, but no, I would get absolutely no use out of yarn, unless you made it into something for me. Does anything from this shop catch your eye? I have a lotion in some sort of vanilla from Debauchery that I really love and I'm a sucker for bubbling scrubs, so I'd be happy to try those - in terms of scents, the Black Honey and Buttermilk Nectar both look fabulous and every single one of the autumn scents I looked at looked promising. Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? Centipedes/millipedes, wasps, cockroaches. I would not want anything with them on. Otherwise, there's not much that freaks me out. How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? They are love! Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Black/gray, jewel tones and dark, almost black versions of same. How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? Stickers and cute note cards are fine. Pretty papers are not likely to get used. How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? We think that any of these are amazeballs, particularly in halloweenie themes. What makes you feel pampered? A long hot bath with some sort of scented product (bath oll, bomb, something), with a cup of hot tea and a good book. OR a really luxe massage or a pedicure. New Question! We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? Bats, owls, ravens, spiders, lizards, gargoyles, pegasi, DRAGONS!   I have a dumb question! I know it's a big joke that we get everything five years later than everyone else in the world, but is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? Totally not a dumb question! I want maple everything and maple sugar candy is one of my favorite things in the world. Also, cheap Canadian chocolate is infinitely superior to cheap USian chocolate and I am happy to try any creepy chip flavors that do not include any of my blackout items (so no salmon dill blue cheese crisps). A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye?   My answer - the afore mentioned Rice Pudding soap, also sorbetto, soaps (I prefer the hot process to glycerin, but both are fabulous) or lotion in any of the following (in order of preference): The Bees Lament, Indian Summer, Avast, Little Paper Umbrellas, Candy Floss, Guy Falkes, Pink Salt, Beet It   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) Cocoa Mint Mate looks yum, as does the Bushberry Black Iced.   How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) I love their toasted mates. Also, anything fruity/chocolaty. How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? Whole bean, all the way. How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Pumpkin Spice Latte!!!!!!!!!! Nothing else there I'm willing to take the carbs for, though. Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? No thanks. Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? Travel mugs would be fabulous. Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? A tea steeper would be cool. Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? I always love honey. How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? Oh, absolutely. Especially if it is pre-moody teen friendly. Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay (mostly I'm thinking minis, tho I did get a full bottle of liqueur in a Switch Witch years ago!)-- if yay, what kind? Total yay! I love whiskeys of pretty much all sorts, flavored vodkas, gin, weird artisan brews. Really there's not much I won't drink. CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? Nay for me.   New question! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package.   Totally cribbing from someone else's answer and saying Spongebob stuff.   I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container, never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with costmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched?   That is totally cool with me. Bring on the bright sparkles!   ETA: For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? No fiber allergies here, so no worries. Just nothing too scratchy.   does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market?   I love World Market with an unholy passion. In fact, I should probably swing by there this weekend for my pumpkin, but the short answer is yes, that is a very safe place to shop for me.   does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils?   Need is such a strong word. I would love measuring cups in weird sizes - 2 cup, 2/3, 3/4 sorts of things. I can always use more spatulas and measuring spoons, especially if they are colorful and/or seasonal. Also, wooden spoons or other non-stick pan friendly spoony things. And baking stuff - cupcake liners, sanding sugars, that sort of thing, are always grand.   Dearist Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other?   Probably more on the non-edible side. I'd be happy to have some edible/drinkables, though.   Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you? Gray's Anatomy is probably the closest thing. I love baking and would definitely love Halloweenie accessories, especially early on in the swap where I could incorporate things into our party.   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? Sounds great. I probably need an XL.   Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use?   Very very short is my hair. I make it kind of spiky with pomade and that's about it. My daughter has super long hair and will adopt any styling related goodies, hair oils, etc.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves?   I would love something autumnal, but not pumpkin (I have a Punkie Night lotion from Paintbox, so I'm good there). Maybe a spicy apple cidery scent or something? I tend toward more foody in my body products.     Pumpkin: Is there something that catches your eye from this shop?   I love love love the overall style, but I never wear gold. Very occassionally I'll wear copper, but in general, I prefer my jewelry silvertone, so assume that all of my lusting is imagining silver. To the extent that is possible, the Games necklace is amazeballs and now I want one in silvertone. I also like Rough Diamond, Circle Bib, Lightning Cloud, any of the Feathers and all the bracelets.   If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you wanted some dehydrated apple rings??? Late to this party, but sure!   If you have an Etsy favorites list, are all of the things on the list things you'd be happy to get, or are some of them gift ideas for other people, or stuff that you've already bought and loved but don't need more of, or for any reason not something you'd want to get in this swap? Everything on there is for MEMEMEME. Mostly it's sort of a general idea list, or a way for me to sort out the items I want to seriously consider from an update, but generally speaking, if you got me anything from there, I would be thrilled.   New question from me! how do you feel about music? would you like some? if so, what would you be interested in & in what format (do you still have somewhere to play CDs, or would a flash drive be better, etc)? Music would be cool, probably best as a burned CD. I don't have much of anything from the last 4-5 years or so, so indie/alt-country/rock in that vein would be fun.   Lilith Update?   I am interested in decants of Goofballs, Mermaid, Venustas, Very Pink Surprise Cake

13 Nights Plain text

Welcome to 13 Nights of Halloween, Year 2! Your co-hosts this round will be Meaganola and Usagi.   In this swap, you will have the opportunity to gather 13 treats for another forumite, while someone else does the same for you. Then, on October 21st, all participants will begin the party, opening one gift per day until the grand finale, on November 2nd. As an added bonus, and for inspiration, we are offering the option of following themed October Days ideas (a la the amazing Wacky Days swap). Check them out! Sound like fun? Then jump in!   Technical details:   *Signups will be open until August 24th, or when the sixty slots are full-- whichever comes first. *This is a one-on-one, mystery match swap; you send a package to someone, someone sends a package to you. Note: you will probably not be receiving from the person you are sending to. *matches will go out within 48 hours of signups closing. *The mailing deadline is September 30th. Opening of packages will begin on October 21st, and end on November 2nd. *There will be a question about homemade food items. If you are intending to make such for your partner, you might want to include a small 'placeholder' gift for whichever day you want the food to be and mail the food a little closer to the actual opening deadline. This applies to perishables, like cookies and such, and not necessarily to things like jams or pickles, which should be fine for the waiting period.   Rules:   *Please only sign up for this if you are able to commit the time, resources, and/or funds necessary to this swap. *if the unforeseeable occurs--and you are unable to complete the swap, let me know ASAP, so that arrangements can be made and your swapper isn't left in the lurch. *Swaplifters will be reported. *Due to international shipping constraints, there is a firm mailing deadline of September 30th. We want everyone to be able to start opening their goodies on the same day-- that’s kind of the point of the swap. *please be prepared to gather a minimum of $30 worth of goodies, before shipping. This does not mean that you actually have to hand over $30 to a cashier somewhere. There are a some seriously crafty people and thrifty shoppers on this forum. Use your judgement as to value, I know it's good. *Shipping within the US is required to include tracking. If you are shipping international, please hang on to your receipt. *Starting on October 21st, you are responsible for reporting into this thread every day to squee about your goodies for the duration of the 13 Days.   If that sounds manageable, then please fill out the very long questionnaire below and PM it to Usagi.   Forum Name: Real Name: Mailing Address: Email Address:   Allergies, dietary, and lifestyle restrictions: For matching purposes, are there any common allergens in your environment, that might affect matching (pets, smoke, live in a field of ragweed)? Is there anything(that you know of) which it is illegal to mail to you, or that might cause Customs to become upset and hang on to your package?   Do you celebrate any fall holidays? Please feel free to place as much info/context as you wish: Are there certain things for these holidays--or your general love of fall-- that you would particularly appreciate receiving? If you celebrate Halloween, are you dressing up? *What as? *Would you like costume additions or accessories? Suggestion scents?

Okay so I am sitting here watching catching fire, and then I think, they should make the hunger games, divergent, and mortal instrument series oils. its a suggestion, and I didn't know where else to get anyone else's opinion on the matter, so I posted it here. I hope I don't get in trouble for this either because I am still new and don't know where to post suggestions yet.   I'm a big fan of the three series, and I just thought it would be cool if they could experiment with making oils based off of those.   So what do you guys think? yay or nay??

13 Days of Halloween Help 2014

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I love handmade yarny things and yarn!   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I have a bath, but I never use it because it's ugh. I love non-commercial soap and scrubs though! Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? Yes! Homestuck, Ava's Demon, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Umineko no Naku Koro ni, Attack on Titan (just getting into it), Harry Potter (I'm a ravenclaw!), Farscape, Battlestar Galactica (the reboot), My Little Pony Friendship is Magic (but I don't consider myself a brony, kinda don't like the fandom), Adventure Time, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Yu Yu Hakusho, Mass Effect, Pokemon, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, trying to get into Evagelion, The Elder Scrolls (but not the MMO lore), Star Wars: The Old Republic...I -think- that's it? Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I don't! And yes! I would! So much!   Would you like loose, fancy tea? Yes yes yes yes! I'm out of teabags though...so even just teabags without the tea would be yay.   Incense, y/n? Only Japanese incense or cone incense, as I can't stand dipped incense.   Favorite fall activities? Cider. Just Cider.

13 Days of Halloween! 2014

Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? I don't think so. Maybe that I am not picky at all! Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I'm not a hardcore fandomy sort. But here is a list of things I like: Supernatural, Lord of the Rings, Resident Evil (the movies), Firefly/serenity, cookbooks (I know, I'm a weirdo, I read them for fun), Calvin and Hobbes, Foxtrot, Fraggle Rock, Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, nail polish, puzzles, Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I used to have one, but I got rid of it. I just didn't like it as much as candles. I love candles. Nice one, cheap ones, they're all my favorites.   What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? YAY! I can crochet, and I do a lot of it. But, the only things I've ever made for myself are some blankets. So, while I can do it, I never do it for myself, so anything made for me would be greatly appreaciated! I do get hives from wools, even the nice wool blends. I could manage a hat, since I have a lot of hair, it wouldn't touch my skin...but I wouldn't be able to wear a scarf or mittens made out of wool. Anything else goes though! For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I have both!   Incense, y/n? Incense and I do not get along at all. Would you like loose, fancy tea? Yum! I like everything, almost! I do not like jasmine teas, or roobios, or anything that's heavy on hibiscus, and licorice flavoring is icky. My favorites are spicy things, different chai type mixes, I also really like the white tea fruity flavors. And nut flavors. And chocolate ones. And green teas with flavors, black teas with fruity goodness, anything fall flavored (as in spices, and pumkins...not like dirt and dead leaves and rotting things). And ALL THE TEAS!!! What is your favorite fall activity? Leaves changing colors! The crisp air smells! The apple orchards! Pumpkin patches! The wee little kidlets coming to my door asking for candy! This is my first Halloween with doggies, and they WILL be wearing costumes! I hope to find a pretty tutu for BooBear, because she is a princess (and she has a homely little face, with a big underbite, so it'll be extra funny). And a hot dog bun costume for Bandit, since he's half weiner dog. Ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Bandit willing wears little sweaters when its super cold out and Boo had to wear a diaper after she got fixed in rescue (poor old girl was in heat when she was fixed and was a bit of a mess, my sister-in-law was her foster-mom, so we got all her information from fostering time), she didn't mind her diaper. So I think they'll both be ok with costumes. I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Japanese stuff! YAY! Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? Halloweeny themed would be fun! I do tend to wear bold necklace more often than dainty little ones. But I am equal opportunity! What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? I don't know what a malt drink is, other than beer type stuff. If that's what is meant...Yum! If not, I am curious and want to try!   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? yes! I like to open presents! Ha ha ha ha ha!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? a present every day for me! Wheeeee!   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? I like to watch movies! And eat popcorn with them! I have lots of popcorn kernels in my freezer! I put lots of butter on the popcorn. Butter is delicious! (I have a few movies in my amazon wishlist, we have quite a few movies here at home. Mostly I like actiony kinds.)   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? That sounds fun! I don't have any Halloween anthology. I have lots of christmas romance ones. Halloween one sounds awesome! Spooky/scary is good too! And so is stuff off my wishlist. My goodreads is very out of date. Amazon list has books I want. But I love books, so it doesn't have to be off my list either. Yay books! (I'm not much of a fan of inspirational or drama-rama stuff.)   Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? Reveal. Don't reveal. Its all good! Numbers, no numbers, both super fun! Present, present every day! yAY!   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Sure!   There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I can wear what I want...as long as I have close toed shoes on and my clothes won't get caught in machines. I'm sure there are plenty of things I would like! I'm not sure what off the top of my head! I like things! Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? Sure! I have a lovely sugar skull that I got in a previous swap. (Mr. Boy REALLY wanted to taste it.) Does anything from this shop catch your eye? Yes! It looks nice! I use lotion less than anything else, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at lotion! Any sort of fall pumpkin/spicy/fall scents. Not a fan of florals or aquatics. Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? No live animals/insects please! Ha ha ha ha! Anything that is fake or dead is fine by me! How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? LOVE THEM!!! I adore jams, jelly, and butters. For pickled things, I like dill pickles (hot one and non hot ones) and pickled jalapenos. Not much of a fan of other pickled veggies. Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Colors are so pretty! How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? Yay stickers! I have a fair amount of stationery already, but like always, I don't mind getting more! How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? YAYAYAYAYAYAY! What makes you feel pampered? Fancy candy and a bath! I have a dumb question! I know it's a big joke that we get everything five years later than everyone else in the world, but is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? I'm intrigued by the thought of the coffee crisps that other people mentioned. And bring on the creepy chips! If I don't like it, Mr. Boy will eat! I love trying new things!   A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything fromPaintbox Soapworks catch your eye? Ooooh! I love Paintbox! The sorbettos are my favorite sugar scrubs, and the soap! So good!   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) no roobios, or anything floral or jasmine. Everything else is awesome!   How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) Same as above!   How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? I'm not a fan of Starbucks coffee beans. I like their fancy froo-froo drinks, but not the plain coffee.   How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Oooh! Flavored! Pumpkin spice latte sounds yummy. And fruits! and caramel and vanilla! (Mr. Boy likes the regular plain via, so if you send some, he would be a happy boy.)   Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? No maker for them!   Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? tea travel mug!   Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? I've been trying to find an electric percolator coffee pot. So far, the goodwills by me haven't had one.   Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? Whatever! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! I don't usually sweeten my tea or use syrups, but if they come in a small little airplane liquor sized, they'd be fun to try.   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? Yes! Even less gently-used are ok by me! Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? Yummy! I am not a fan of bourbon. Or wine, I get migranes from wine. CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? YAY! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. Live scorpions. I wouldn't mind some taxidermy. Gimme! For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? As long as its not touching my wrists or face, I should be ok! I'm not sure about other fibers like alpaca. I know wool bothers me, even the nice wool blends.   Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? I'm sure that I want everything from them both! I really am easy and I like getting things! YAY!   Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? I don't "need" any. But I certainly would welcome some! YAY! Cute things are my favorites. (I have quite a few of the Animal House kitchen stuff.)   Dearest Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other? I like presents! I like things to eat and drink and things to not eat and drink. My package can be heavy on either side or right down the middle. Its all good to me!   Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you? I have no shame. I like lots of crap! Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Oh my! Yes! All of them! I like to bake and cook! I have many Christmas sprinkles and quite a few halloweenie ones. I should have more! And everyday ones! And spices and everything! The only thing I wouldn't know what to do with would be flavored vinegars. I don't care for vinegar. But if you already picked one out for me, just give me an idea of what to do with it and I will use it!   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I like them! I would need an 2X size. I am festively shaped....like a pumpkin!   Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? Yes! I have shoulder length hair right now. I go between all the lengths pretty regularily, so even if its not something I could use right now, I will be able to use later! I can get my hair in ponytails right now.

13 Nights of Halloween Round 2 Q's

What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things? I love handmade yarny things (and handmade in general); I also love yarn, but don't send any (unless you handdye something special) - my stash is overflowing.   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I haved both, but only use the shower, since I don't actually trust my bathtub to take a bath.   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? I'd like to be introduced to different comics, especially independent ones.   Are there any particular fandoms that you follow? I'm really only into Sailor Moon at the moment (I want all the merchandise), but I also really like Marvel and video games in general.   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) I don't, and it's been on my 'to buy' list for years.   Would you like loose, fancy tea? I love loose, fancy teas. Fruity, black teas are my preference.   Incense, y/n? I'm going to pass this time   What is your favorite fall activity? I love when the weather starts to change and that 'fall' feeling arrives - the sun is still nice and bright but there's a definite nip in the air. I love going on walks in the later afternoon, early evening while.   I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Anything from traditional to 'kawaii'. Merchandise for Kill la Kill, Madoka, and Sailor Moon would be fantastic. I'm a big fan of the brand SWIMMER.   Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I like all types of jewelry. For necklaces, I tend to buy a lot of pendant type pieces.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks? not really into hot chocolate and I don't believe I've tried a malt drink before If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? I'm a big book lover and wouldn't be unhappy with multiple books, but 13 distinct packages would be great as well   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? I wouldn't mind a few themed days   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort?     Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? Wishlist would be good. I would love to get a Halloween anthology, maybe that's not totally horror focused   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? As long as I know who treated me at some point, I'll be happy. For packages, I don't have a preference.   Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? I've only ever tried one solid perfume, so I wouldn't mind trying more. Yes to lip balm.   There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts, etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I sadly can't wear casual clothes at work, but wouldn't mind getting that sort of thing. Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? Yes

(If no, would you like one?)     Would you like loose, fancy tea?     Incense, y/n?     What is your favorite fall activity?     I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want?     Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear?     What about hot chocolate/malt drinks?     If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages?   How into the day theming mentioned in the first post are you? Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff?     Does anything from this shop catch your eye?     Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects?     How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? Do you have a favourite colour scheme? How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)?     How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border?     What makes you feel pampered?     We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined?     Is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours?     Does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye?     Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) How about any Teavana tea? (loose leaf) How about Starbucks coffee beans? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever?   How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games?     Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind?   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY?     Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca?     Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market?   Does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils?     Dearest Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Would you prefer your package heavier on one side or the other?     Any guilty pleasures? TV show you're embarassed to admit you like? Musical group/preference that seems out-of-place for you?     And now, a new question: to sort of piggy-back onto the question about small kitchen items, do you like to bake or cook, and if yes, are there any special ingredients, spices, or decorations for baked goods (like sprinkles in seasonal shapes or those decorative picks you put on top of cupcakes, for instance) that you would like?     Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants?     Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use?     If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you wanted some dehydrated apple rings??? new question from me! how do you feel about music? would you like some? if so, what would you be interested in & in what format (do you still have somewhere to play CDs, or would a flash drive be better, etc)?   If you have an Etsy favorites list, are all of the things on the list things you'd be happy to get, or are some of them gift ideas for other people, or stuff that you've already bought and loved but don't need more of, or for any reason not something you'd want to get in this swap?     Are there any scents from the Lilith update you would like ? Any other you are looking for ?   Do you like Hello Kitty?

Frimp from the lab. I absolutely love Midsummer Night's Dream and have always wanted to try this. Unfortunately, it was rather disastrous.     In the imp: Faint sweet floral with a harsh chemical undertone.   Wet: YO, something went terribly wrong immediately. I don't know if it was the green note (?) or the pansy or the carnation (which hates me) or what, but I got almost no floral and a kind of awful wet swampy chemical smell. Husband said it was like bathroom air freshener from the eighties! Thankfully it didn't cause a headache, but this is really unpleasant.   Drydown: After a while it seems to get a little sweeter, but that awful chemical note remains, and I can't tell whether the perfume is sweetening or just fading. Weirdly, it also wears off very quickly but the nasty note hangs on and on and is really difficult to wash off. It smells something like floral hairspray.   Verdict: NO NO NO NO NO cat. Like someone else said, I wish I knew what notes were in this so I could avoid them forever, because something in this really doesn't go with my skin. I think it's probably a green note, beause those really really don't work on me, but usually they don't smell like some kind of awful spray.   Source: Love-In-Idleness
