Weenie Switch Witch - 2014 Help!

Switch Witch Help, 2014 edition!   My past help blogs are still up, but keep in mind stuff might have changed - I'm still in the middle of some pretty major life changes, and it's changed my outlook on some stuff, and my priorities and whatnot. I love graphic tees, but have a huge problem finding ones that are fitted properly, but are also long enough. Depending on the brand and style, I can be anywhere from an XL to a XXXL. Pants are also tricky - I can be either a 16 or an 18. Skirts I can usually do okay in an XL - I prefer fold over waistbands (like on some maxi skirts) as opposed to elastic ones. Also, my wishlists are HUGE, lol. I don't get to buy a lot for myself right now - I've recently quit my job to stay at home with my 1 year old daughter, and whenever I have extra money I just want to buy her all the things! So I keep wishlists as my 'someday' lists, which explains the randomness and size of them   QUESTIONS! Newest ones will be on the bottom.   - Pumpkins?   Eh, they're okay.   - Canned goods?   Eh. I can't think of anything I'd be super interested in.   - Trading Post wants?   Triple Dagger bracelet, Carnaval Diabolique scent locket, 'A Little Lunacy' ID case   - retailers?   I'm not always huge on stuff from Mary K or Avon type places, but if you think I'd love it I don't mind   - Coffee/tea?   NO NO NO, lol. Not a fan at all.   - Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy?   I do cook, some! I'm mostly still learning. I wouldn't mind kitchen accessories   - What culture or country (doesn’t have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you?   I don't really know...right now I'm interested in Norse stuff, though.   - Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)?   Not at the moment, I have so much art that I have to frame and put up as it is! I'm always open to more, but not anything specifically commissioned!   - What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests?   In my free time I play video games, and read. I LOVE to read (which is why I'm trying to start a career as a writer!). I love Blizzard games - WoW (though I can't afford a subscription at the moment), Diablo, Hearthstone. I also love my 3DS, though I haven't been able to get a whole lot of games for it lately.   - Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for?   We've been known to play some games, we like 7 Wonders, Munchkin, that kind of stuff. We've been longing for Small World (I want the Underworld edition (I think that's what it's called, anyway). Accessories? Boxes to hold loose cards would be good, we have a bunch of card type games we've lost (or the dog we used to have ate) the original boxes for. - DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands?   I'd LOVE the Harry Potter collection of movies. I also have a bunch of Disney movies on my amazon list, I'd love a collection to show to my daughter when she's a little older! As for games...I'm REALLY interested in Doomtown which just came (back) out, that's about the only one right now I think. Small World would be cool, but Doomtown is higher on the list, lol.   - created creations?   Of course! I'll be making as much as I can for my witchee, so I'm more than happy to receive homemade goodies   - What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try? I can't think of anything specific at the moment. Well, maybe ketchup chips. Those seem to be really hard to find in Florida, and I used to get them all the time up north. I LOVE ketchup chips! - Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? Please note whether you are willing to add BPALers as friends. Eh....I'm at a point right now where I'm not adding people unless I talk to them a lot on the forums. Trying to cut down on the FB stuffs a bit. So I'll have to think about it. I *will* however try to be a bit more active on the forums, and I'm more than willing to answer any questions Also, Venneh, nekogrrl, lioness, skyelyric, Coldie, OctoberGwen... those are all good people to ask for facebook stalking help Also I'm pretty active on Pinterest, linked above! - Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom? Groot! Also World of Warcraft, Sailor Moon. Those are my big ones right now. And Star Trek. And of course witch kitsch, being halloween and all Ooooh, and She-ra. LOOOVE She-ra.   - Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing?   They are fun - I do have a HUGE puzzle book right now that I'm slowly working on though (Maze of Games). Though I do love Logic Puzzles and sure wouldn't complain about getting more of those!   - If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions?   Either is fine - What’s a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you haven’t had time to address it?   I need to clean my house in a big way. That's about it, lol. - How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? I.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin…   I love that idea!   - Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason--bad associations?   Not that I can think of.   - Apple?   While I'm 'meh' on pumpkin, I LOVE apple! Apple type smells are my favorite in the fall, and dried apples are my go-to snack, I have a dehydrator and make them all the time   - Christmas/Yule ornaments?   If you like I'm not even thinking about that kind of thing yet, I like to celebrate one holiday before moving on to the next, lol!   - Do you enjoy poetry? Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like?   Not huge on poetry.   - Would you enjoy receiving something related to a favorite Disney character?   I love Disney! I do live right behind Disney World though, lol. Favorite characters are Meg, Kida, Merida, Stitch (and the other experiments). I like a lot of the Pixie Hollow/Peter Pan stuff, love Haunted Mansion stuff (I have the hourglass!), Pirates (ride not movies), Jungle Cruise, pretty much anything Adventureland related (I worked there for 2 years, lol), Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch...okay I like a lot of Disney stuff!   - How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? (Example: Would you enjoy this stationary - or do you prefer elegant/creepy/neutral stuff?)   I love creepy stuff. Cute is okay, especially if it's monsters. To me SW isn't about getting something you want, it's about gifting someone else, and getting to know your witch/witchee. BUT, since the question was asked, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE this wallet. Or this necklace.   - Tarot/rune/divination?   Yes! I actually finally found 'my' tarot deck not too long ago (Book of Shadows part 2 - So Below), but I still like to collect them for fun. Hi, Witch! The questionnaire said we should not include wish list links in it due to issues with links not translating, so I'm going to put them here, followed by answers to questions posted in the thread, so everything will be in one convenient spot.   Wish lists: BPAL BPTP Amazon Etsy (probably not super up-to-date, but useful for ideas maybe) Pinterest wish list board   Q&A   1. I wonder what a potential witchee would think about being bombarded with PUMPKINS in various formats. Because my current obsession just may last long enough to be of use in spoiling.....but I know wouldn't be appreciated by everyone. Would you appreciate it?!?   I pumpkin in all forms.   2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).   Sure! That would be awesome.   3. Trading Post wants?   I love the Miskatonic U candle. Right now, waiting for Halloweenie update!   4. What direct sellers do you not like and would prefer not to get things from? And also feel free to list any retail brands you really don't like.   Not crazy about Mary Kay or Avon, or any food company.   5. How about y'alls coffee and tea preferences?   I love coffee and tea. I am anti-Keurig.   6. Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy?   Not much. My hubby does most of the cooking. I bake (cookies, banana bread, that sort of thing) and have a few dishes that I'm very good at making.   THAT SAID... my mom just bought us a food dehydrator, so I'm interested in learning about drying stuff.   7. How do people feel about creative endeavours? Would you like to receive one? Or supplies to make your own? What do you like? Drawings, stories, poems?   Of course! I would love any sort of creative endeavor my witch sent.   8. What culture or country (doesnt have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you?   I love Italy. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there (and he'd visited before). We weren't in an especially touristy area, and we really loved the lifestyle. Lots of small local shops, lots of walking and taking trains. We love the old buildings too (whereas here people seem to have this throwaway attitude; things aren't built to last). It was wonderful.   9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)?   I would love to have my cat, Simon, in a format suitable for a tattoo.   10. What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests?   Reading and gaming are my primary downtime activities (and I read A LOT). Currently, I'm way into Final Fantasy XIV, gaming-wise. I like yoga. Sometimes I like making jewelry. I used to go to the gym (our local YMCA) a lot, but due to finances this year, I don't have a current membership. I hope I can renew soon.   11. Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for?   I desperately wish we had a local D&D group. Right now we don't, so we don't have anything.   12. DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands? Can they be used, through Amazon?   We have blu-ray, and also an Apple TV. Used is just fine. What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try?   I'm open to anything that fits within my likes/dislikes from questionnaire. Other info that I forgot to include: I don't like marzipan, and I only like coconut in savory things (like curry) or those little doughnuts with toasted coconut on top. How important to you is regular contact / chatter with your witch?   I like to be in contact with my witch, and chattiness is great! But I also understand that my witch could be busy, shy, etc. so if you get me and that's you don't feel pressured! If you *are* chatty, by all means, email away.   18. Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing?   Yes!   19. If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions?   I've digitized pretty much all my music at this point, but if my witch sent a CD, I could always rip it, so no big deal.   20. Whats a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you havent had time to address it?   I'd have to think about this one. Nothing comes immediately to mind.   21. Any things you can't have in your house for that reason bad associations?   Nothing that I can think of that a witch would remotely send.   23. For the vegetarians and vegans: How do you feel about things (say, marshmallows or gummy candy) made with vegan gelatin or other typically-animal-derived-but-not-in-this-instance products?   NA for me, but I now that you mention gummies... I love Haribo gummy bears. I understand that they have other gummies too, but the traditional bears are the only ones we can get in our area.   24. Ok, so we've covered pumpkin. How do you feel about the other fall classic – apples?   Personally, I love them. I may have more apple scents than pumpkin ones, in fact, and of course, yum! Apples, apple cider, apple pie (not that a pie would ship well!)... My routine: In the morning: I typically use a gentle scrub (my new fave is the upcoming Paintbox one for sensitive/dry skin, although I'm out of my sample and right now using the St. Ives apricot kind) with my Clarisonic. Then a Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel pad, followed by Urban Decay b6 prep spray, Clinque Laser Focus, Laser Focus eye cream, Josie Maran Argan Milk, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense, Urban Decay Illuminating beauty balm, and foundation primer (still trying to pick a favorite; I have like three deluxe-size samples I keep waffling between). Then makeup. At night: I use an oil-based cleanser (usually Josie Maran argan oil cleanser, but right now I have some of the Julep kind) and Burt's Bees peach makeup remover cloths (helps with eye makeup), then moisturize.   I realize this is a lot of crap. I might be a tiny bit obsessive on this point.   86. Is there anything you would like from Salem MA (mugs, keychains, postcards, etc.or witchy supplies like incense, candles, books)?   I would love Salem goodies! 13 Days 2014 questions

Fandoms: Harry Potter, Dr. Who, Rick Riordan's Olympus books (not quite as much with the Egyptian ones), Firefly, to an extent World of Warcraft. Oh, and I adore Minions and Minion Mashups (I have a Firefly, a Star Wars, and The Minions have the Tardis on t-shirts already) , old school Final Fantasy stuff (like pre FFX) Fandoms in which I have *no* interest: MLP, Supernatural, Walking Dead, True Blood, Frozen Wax/oil burner — I have…3 wax warmers? So stuff for them would be welcome…more on the clean/woodsy/citrusy spectrums of things, please. I live with very picky noses. Loose fancy tea: Always. I love most tea, flavored or otherwise; black teas are favorites, oolong, green, white, and herbals are also loved. I'm not a fan of rooibos, and I don't care for anise/licorice flavors in tea. I'm also totally happy with tea bags since they're really handy for work. Incense: Sadly no, the sensitive noses again. I have to sit outside and burn incense on the back patio if I want to use it, so needless to say, I don't do this often. Autumn activities: Garden harvesting and cleanup, spending early mornings outside with a hot drink and a shawl, going to hike up in the park when the elk come down and the leaves start turning, drinking an ungodly amount of fresh cider, carving a pumpkin. New Question! I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? I love pretty stationery. I tend to lean toward minimalist and elegant when it comes to designs, but something small and cute would be awesome, too.   New Question: Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? I am open to most anything, just no superlong stuff. I think a 24" chain is as long as I would want, otherwise I get hung up on stuff. I mostly wear silver tones, but I also like copper, occasionally some brass or mixed metals. I wear earrings, bracelets, and anklets as well. Oh, I could actually use a cool lanyard since I have an ID badge around my neck for work and right now it's on a boring old company lanyard. New question: What about hot chocolate/malted drinks like ovaltine? Never actually had Ovaltine, but I like chocolate malts and malt balls, so I imagine I'd enjoy it. I do like hot chocolate.   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? Whatever works best for my swapper!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? Entirely up to my dear swapper. If you think something sounds fun to do, go for it, I'm sure I'll get a kick out of it, too.   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Sure, but I'd have no idea what. I will say I don't like horror at all. I don't mind suspense, or classically bad cheese like Army of Darkness, but normal horror ends up either boring or sickening in my experience.   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? As with movies, nothing too horrific. I can handle a little dark and creepy…for example a couple vampire books I love: Let the Right One In and Robin McKinley's Sunshine. Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? I'm fine with whatever on both counts, reveal when you'd like, be ninja, make me guess, whatever. =) And packages, again, whatever. All numbered, some numbered, some free day, all free day, whatever you'd like to do. Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm? Solid perfume sounds fun in theory—I wanted to buy one of the Pink Sand scent balms from Paintbox this summer, but I was too slow. I like the idea of lightly scented balms I can use on my nails/cuticles because everything cracks in the cooler weather. Lip balms are awesome and always welcome. I have no fewer than 3 in rotation at a time. There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts,etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable? I don't know about specifically halloween themed since that limits wearability (I do have a nifty t-shirt I was given last year decorated with a skull entirely made of sewing notions—safety pins and thread bobbins, and that's kind of awesome). In general I would prefer something that could be worn all season, fall-themed, or I dunno, something with a raven on it, stuff like that. I'm a college student and my job is super casual, so as long as there's no profanity on anything, it's all good.   I'm going to Rose City Comic Con during the shopping window. Any exhibitors/vendors/comics/etc. you're particularly interested in? No flipping clue, but it sounds awesome. I like small bits of things a lot—postcard sized prints, buttons I can stick on my backpack, stuff like that. Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos stuff: Love it. How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? Stickers are great in theory but I forget to use them. More subtle on a halloween theme so I could wear it more than a couple days a year though would be better.   What makes you feel pampered? I don't do pampered very well. I like savoring occasional indulgent things (I can make a really good chocolate bar last for a week, and I'm known to eat desserts in mousebites). I love making a cup of really nice loose leaf tea on a chilly day and taking it outside in the garden while wearing my baby alpaca lace shawl, that to me is totally self-pampering: nice soft fuzzy stuff, delicious tea... I realized I'd like to make chai and bring it with me, but my travel mugs are not microwave safe. Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? I could use a spare tea steeper that would hold enough tea for a 16 oz mug, so I don't have to bring my tea ball from home for work. Anything else from Starbucks/Teavana? Syrups, honey, whatever? I honestly wouldn't know what. For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? sure! i can wrangle someone into playing with me.     Alcoholic beverages in your goodies-- yay or nay-- if yay, what kind? don't do anything that you're worried will get you in trouble. hard liquor-wise I tend to stay on the whiskey and scotch side of things.   CANDY CORN--- YAY OR NAY? yay. not sure about all the wild flavors coming out, pumpkin spice I would probably pass on, but i think I saw a caramel apple one that I'd try? I do actually like normal candy corn, I just have to figure out how to humidify it out here in the high plains.     Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. anything particularly gory.     I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container,never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? Totally cool with that.   For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have no allergies, but scratchy stuff near the skin is not my best plan, I will scratch the hell out of myself if even a clothing tag makes me itch.

A roundup of the in-thread questions with answers!   Fandoms. I have many. A partial list:       I'm constantly looking for another universe to fall into, especially if the entire series is on Netflix Instant. Caveat: I feel like the only person in the world utterly uninterested in Sailor Moon, Lord of the Rings, or My Little Pony. ETA: Or Nightmare Before Christmas. I *knew* I was forgetting something crucial for this swap. It's *okay*, and I feel like I *should* like it because the director lives here (or at least he did around the time he made Coraline because this is where Laika lives), but it just doesn't grab me as a must-see Halloween movie like Donnie Darko does.   Wax/oil burner — Yes! I have one! It’s *adorable*! A mama turtle with a baby turtle on her back! The baby turtle is a LID so I can COVER THE MELTED WAX so curious kitties don't dip their paws in it!   Loose fancy tea: Ooh, yes! I used to live in Seattle and developed a severe fondness for Dammann Freres (ugh, SO EXPENSIVE) Jardin Bleu and Earl Grey Gout Russe, and I haven't found anything close to those two flavors. I love berry-scented black and Earl Grey variations! And Adagio! I used to get their Forest Berries and Cream teas and mix them together for iced tea. I haven't thought about that in ages! I got an Earl Grey Cream from somewhere that was fantastic, but I can't remember where. If decaf is an option, I do prefer that so I can drink it later in the day! So... Uh. Yeah. Love tea!   Incense: Love it. Always forget how much I love it until I stumble across the remains of a long-forgotten pack that has lost its scent! I think my only limit is no resin incense, only because I don't have a resin burner.   Autumn activities: Um... Cleaning my apartment because it's finally not a steambox and changing my makeup rotation box to earthier colors? Does that count? I love holing up for the weekend with tea and books. Month-of-October festivities always mean even more horror movies than usual. I used to go to San Francisco for a long weekend at the beginning of November to rest up for the rest of the year when I had a job with a nasty year-end crunchtime, but I don't work there anymore, so I haven't gone to SF since, like, 2007. It's funny how much I love autumn but don't really have any rituals to celebrate the season other than breaking out the Weenies (once that year's update hits) and Yules (after Dia de los Muertos)!   New Question! I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want? Hmm... I love yogurt-flavored candy!   New Question: Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear? Not a jewelry person, alas. At all. I bought a bunch of long necklaces last year because I thought I would wear them ALL OF THE TIME. And... Not so much.   New question: What about hot chocolate/malted drinks like ovaltine? Love hot chocolate! I haven't had Ovaltine in probably thirty years, but i remember loving that stuff as well!   If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages? I don't really have a preference!   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all? I love themes, but I love *fun* themes! If it's boring, don't do it!   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort? Love movies. There are several on my amazon wishlist, but if it's a recent movie (released in the past five years or so), I probably don't have it, whether it's on my list or not (I think the only movies I've bought that have come out in the past five years are Veronica Mars and Inception). I'm a hardcore horror fan. This is not restricted to Halloween! Dark, black, psychologically twisted, disturbing stuff -- love it. I'm also realizing I'm a huge science fiction fan but never quite realized it until recently. Not sure how I missed *that* all these years! I also love good mysteries and thrillers. I'm *not* a romcom fan *at all*. Comedies are okay, but they're not my go-to like horror (honestly, I think the reason I like Halloween so much is because it gives me a reason to binge on horror flicks). (I do prefer plot in my horror movie, though. A splatterfest with no story is just a boring special effects reel as far as I'm concerned.)   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads? When it comes to big-name authors (Chuck Palahniuk, Neil Gaiman, Neal Stephenson, Chelsea Cain, Stephen King, Joe Hill, Philip K. Dick, probably more I can't think of off the top of my head, but, basically, the heavy hitters), please stick to my wishlist because I do have some of their work (in some cases, more than others!). For less-known authors, the most likely reason they're not on my list is because I don't know about them, so if you have a favorite, I would love to curl up with it! I love scary, disturbing stuff!   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy? Hmm... Good question. I always *think* I want some, and then I get some, and then I don't wear it. I have three of them that I never wear in my bag right now! I'm pretty sure I covered this in my survey, but NO SPIDERS. Or bugs. Or anything with more appendages than your average mammal. I'm not a huge fan of snakes or worms, but that's more like "eh, they exist" than anything else. Bugs, spiders, cockroaches, insects, etc.: No no no no no. And no. (Bats to me are just flying rats. I say this as someone who has had pet rats in the past and doesn't really understand _Willard_ because it's like watching a horde of rampaging kittens. All of that is to say that bats are awesome. Also: Fruit bats and flying foxes belong to a family of bat called megabat. I cannot dislike anything with the prefix "mega.") (And owls fall in somewhere in between. My tendency to avoid them is more because owl stuff is omnipresent, like like deer stuff was a few years ago.)   How do you feel about canned foods like jams and things along those lines? They're lovely!   Do you have a favourite colour scheme? Not particularly. I tend to go for browns and greens for my living room since the carpet and walls are brown (brown + green = trees!), but when it comes to everything else, I think my preferred color schemes are Bollywood combinations. Aqua and purple, tangerine and fuchsia (I normally hate orange, but in combination with something like fuchsia, it's great), tangerine and aqua, purple and green, etc. I also tend to gravitate towards hot pink and fuchsia for some reason.   How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? I tend to lose those sorts of things, although if it was a neat waterproof sticker, I could put it on my waterbottle!   How do we feel about fibercrafting (knit, crochet, etc.)? wearables? crafted critters? If you would like a scarf or something similar, would you like it to be themed, like fall colors, or have a skull or other halloweenie motif/border? As long as it's not wool (allergies) or itchy, it's great! Skulls, bats, and cats, oh my! Ahem. Yeah. I love Halloween motif-y things. When it comes to clothes and accessories, I tend to not wear many autumnal colors except dark greens and purples.   What makes you feel pampered? A clean apartment coupled with supplies to hide from the world for the weekend. A book, some tea, snacks -- that sort of thing. I'm not big on at-home spa days, but I love being a hermit every once in a while.   New Question! We've covered what critters you don't like, but what about the critters that you DO like? What are your favorite animals/creatures, real or imagined? In a word, mammals! Otters, monkeys, wolves, pandas, giraffes, squirrels, beavers, bats, dogs, deer, cats, IT'S TOO EARLY AND I CAN'T THINK OF ANY MORE. Ahem. Yes. I'm a sucker for mammals of pretty much all varieties. Also hummingbirds (my grandmother *loved* them, and we like to say that anytime we see a hummingbird, it's her coming back to visit us).   I have a dumb question! I know it's a big joke that we get everything five years later than everyone else in the world, but is there anything specifically Canadian you'd like? Maple things, chocolate bars, or any of our creepy chip flavours? A random thing that I used to get *every single time* I went to BC: There was this popcorn place called, uh, Kernels, maybe, in Eaton Centre (I think), and they had this butter toffee popcorn that was *amazing*. Double Double, maybe? I'm not a fan of caramel corn because I don't like molasses, but I love butter toffee popcorn! Also, Maynard's candy. Swedish berries, Juicy Squirts, wine gums. Potato chips: Fries'n'gravy, maybe? (I used to go to BC and buy ten different flavors of chips just to try them all, but I think fries'n'gravy came around after the passport laws changed, so I missed out on those.) And I have to toss a fondness for Tylenol 1s in there as well. Sometimes I just need codeine to fully stomp out those headaches. And is Dentyne Ice gum in Midnight Mint still around? That's another thing I used to buy in bulk, which is weird because I normally *hate* the taste of licorice, but there was something about that gum that I loved. Yeesh, I miss being able to get up at 6am, drive up to Canada, and get back home by midnight!   A new question from me: While I am stalking the restock of the Rice Pudding hot process soap, does anything from Paintbox Soapworks catch your eye? Scrubs/creams/lotions only (that is, no bar soap): The Bees' Lament, Punkie Night, Guy Fawkes, Indian Summer, Miss Ada (eee! My girlkitty was named Ada, and I frequently called her Miss Ada! I miss her), Sweet Cheeks, Blackbird, Mandinka. I didn't see any wax tarts that really caught my attention.   Is there is any TAZO tea you have a hankering for? Zen, Awake, Passion, China Green Tips, Vanilla Roibois, Calm, Refresh? (tea bags in a tin) Anything without licorice or rose hips (I used to work in a place where I drank my way through a *lot* of Tazo, and I realized that I loved everything without those two things)! I’m also curious about the Oprah Chai (love chai!).   How about any Teavana tea? If so, ground (and for what kind of filter) or whole bean? Yes! Whole bean, please. I do pourover, so I have to do Turkish grind, and that’s not something you want to do even a day in advance.   How about Starbucks coffee via (italian, columbia, anniversary, vanilla latte?) or Iced coffee via (caramel or regular?) Fruit flavored via (berry hisbiscus, cool lime, strawberry lemonade?) Pumpkin Spice Latte via? Nothing with sugar. Aside from that, not really picky.   Starbucks K-cups or Verismo pods? K-cups would be awesome! We have a Keurig at work and occasionally run out of decent K-cups, so I like to have my secret emergency stash for such tragedies.   Coffee/tea travel mugs or ceramic home mugs? I love mugs, whether ceramic home or travel! (In fact, I recall TwilightEyes sending me a travel mug ages ago for fairying Snow Glass Apples. Yes, I can remember the specific reason she sent it. I lost it at some point and still mourn its absence from my life!) (And I am particularly coveting anything from the Siren collection!   Coffee maker (french press) or tea steeper? Tea steeper! I use SF hazelnut and vanilla in my coffee already, and I'm curious about the SF caramel and cinnamon dolce syrups! How would you feel about a gently-used card game? For example, something I may have purchased several years ago and maybe played with my daughter *twice* before she became a moody teenager, and too cool for card and/or board games? No, thank you. And all of the variations, and those pumpkin things, too, and that mix with candy corn/pumpkins/etc. I always forget how much I love this stuff until I get a bag and discover it mysteriously empty a short time later! (Weird candy corn product I found last year that I’m going to have to recreate on my own if I can’t find it pre-mixed: Salted peanuts and candy corn. I love that salt-and-sweet combination.) And candy corn scented/flavored stuff, like shower gel/lotion or lip balm? LOVE.   New Question! Name at least one thing that you really wouldn't like to receive in your package. Hmm... Wool or scratchy fibers! I'm allergic to wool, and I just DO NOT LIKE scratchy! Also itty bitty decorative confetti-type or glitter things as part of the packaging. My kitties tend to "help" me unwrap my packages, and they have been known to chew on the packing materials. I love glitter in my makeup. I do not like it in my kitties!   does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? Cost Plus is one of my big danger stores, so I haven't gone there in a while just because I'm scared of how much money I will spend there. After a quick glance through their website EEE! I have a huge *want*, though!   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I could have sworn I already answered this one. Love them! Target used to put some out in the men's section every Halloween, and I would buy them in pretty much every design, but they haven't had any in several years. If I'm at home, I'm usually wearing them (even though they're, like, ten years old!). Knit ones are best, in men's XL.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? Medium-long? It's down past my shoulders and almost to my bra band, and it's getting longer due to my apathy towards haircuts. I tend to put it up in an elastic ribbon hairtie that I make (one part twistbands are ridiculously expensive for what they are, one part they're too small for my mass of hair anyway, but I would love other accessories for putting it up, like hair sticks/forks or something to cover a knot/bun.   If you could have a lotion/soap scented just for you, what are some notes you'd like to see? Autumn themed? or tried and true loves? I tend to go for fruity hand soaps, preferably apple or pear when it comes to autumnal scents. I sleep with my hands next to my face, and I get strangely weirded out if my hands don't smell like fruit! 2015 questions:   No disappointments with or without Halloween things.   Would you be interested in gently used BPAL tees going back several years and/or 80s/90s goth-industrial-generally morbid tees all in crew neck/Men's style, size M - L, all black or dark gray? Sure, but I'm more of an XL   How do you feel about superheroes? Love   How do you feel about Star Wars, especially extension universe comics? I don't know about the extension universe, but I love Star Wars.   How extensively have you sampled the Lab's Weenie wares? Any past releases you are dying to get your hands on? Years you missed? Weenies are sometimes hit or miss for me. I LOVE the idea of them. I live in TX, so knitted wearables get use for about 2 weeks out of the year. I love them though, & I love skulls. I friggin' love crafted critters. It's a weakness.   What makes you feel pampered? I almost always love their Halloween collections. Also, always curly whirlys, & toffee crunch cadbury cookies.   does anyone need any small kitchen items or utensils? I don't have many gadgets, so I'm open to whatever you think is cool.   I have eyeshadow pigments which have been decanted from--as in the powder tapped out into another container,never used directly. (I don't use very much makeup, though I love it, so I keep shadow pigments clean so I can safely share.) Would a jar of pigment handled thus bother you or are you ok with cosmetic-type stuff that has not been directly touched? I'm ok with decanted pigments, but I'm a strictly neutral girl.   For those with fiber allergies, is it ok if you get, say, an ornament/amigur-whatsit yarn thing that has wool in the blend, as long as it's not something to be worn? Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? I have no allergies that I'm aware of, but I do live in Houston where it gets below 50 for like 2 weeks a year.   And now, a new question: to sort of piggy-back onto the question about small kitchen items, do you like to bake or cook, and if yes, are there any special ingredients, spices, or decorations for baked goods (like sprinkles in seasonal shapes or those decorative picks you put on top of cupcakes, for instance) that you would like? I'm not the most fabulous baker, but will certainly experiment with anything you deem worthy to send along.   Hey, Pumpkin! How do you feel about lounge pants/pajama pants? I am pro comfy pants. My studio is the bottom floor of my house, so I wear them whenever I'm not leaving my house, which is a little too often. I'm also in the big, comfy XL club.   Another question! Do you have long, medium, or short hair? What kids of hair accessories do you like to use? I have longish hair. The only thing I usually put in my hair other than bobby pins is a bandana or a scarfy thing.   If I were going to the mountains tomorrow, for the apple harvest, would you wanted some dehydrated apple rings??? What are your thoughts on yarn and handmade yarny things?   Handmade anything is awesome and love and fabulous. But despite many many attempts at yarncraft I have come to the conclusion that I shall never be adept at things involving anything larger than an embroidery needle and floss.   For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower?   I can do either with pretty much anything. All the bath and shower things!   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey?   Nothing I can think of at the moment.   Are there any particular fandoms that you follow?   Fandoms (by which I mainly mean things I would be happy to receive swag about): Harry Potter (Ravenclaw here), Doctor Who, Muppets, Nightmare Before Christmas, StarWars (especially Yoda or Princess Leia or droids), Game of Thrones, Sandman, Firefly, Lego, Princess Bride   Do you own a wax/oil burner? (If no, would you like one?) Incense, y/n?   Oil/Wax/Incense/Candles:Scented candles in nommy autumnal scents are cool, no incense, wax melts/tarts or burning oils, please.   Would you like loose, fancy tea?   All the chocolatey, autumnal flavored tea.I also love a good Earl Gray.   What is your favorite fall activity?   Favorite activities - I have to go to a pumpkin patch with the kids. And then we have to carve crazy-ass jack o lanterns. October is probably my favorite month of the year - the weather here is fabulous - cool and crisp, but not cold yet. I love having whatever giant creature my husband and son come up with in our yard, and our skelemingos and other silly-creepy things. I love prepping for our Halloween party and then Halloween itself - filling the big candy bowl and getting the first wee trick-or-treaters...I really can't pick just one thing, but if I absolutely had to, it would probably be the pumpkin patch.   I'm in Japan, anything specifically Japanese-y you want?   Cute Halloweenie Sanrio stuffs would be fun, or other similar items. Probably not much in the way of sweets or snacks.   Please briefly describe (color, style, preferred type of beads) or provide a picture of (if it is suitable), the type of necklace (if any) you would be interested in getting. If you do not like necklaces, what kinds of jewelry (if any) would you want to wear?   What I really seriously kind of sort of need, to the extent that it is possible for me to actually *need* jewelry at this point in my life, is a bracelet in purples/blues. I particularly like loose bracelets with a single charm. I don't like what I think of as hippy-quasi-Indian flowery fittings between beeds. I would also love Halloweenie themed bracelets or earrings (I have a necklace that I love and can only wear this time of year already).   In terms of necklaces, something purple and/or red would be cool. I have a lot of blues and plain silver and oranges and even a couple of green tone ones, but purple in particular is missing, despite being my favorite color. I have been particularly drawn to long drapey multi-strand things lately, but really, I just love big bold colorful statement jewelry that leans modern (as opposed to Victorian or hippy costume beads), although I also love art deco/nouveau.   What about hot chocolate/malt drinks?   I kind of have more hot chocolate than I will ever be able to use and most of the time I am too lazy to actually heat milk, etc unless I'm making Hershey's for the kids. That said, if you have a line on amazing pumpkin spice hot chocolate where you just add water, I'm all in. As for malt drinks, assuming you mean like Ovaltine or something, I'm not strictly opposed, but it's not something I seek out and I'd probably prefer my carbs elsewhere.     If you said that you are interested in books (or DVDs or any relatively big standalone sort of item), would you be okay with having multiples of such items spread over a couple of days, or would you prefer 13 distinct themish packages?   Personally, while I wouldn't want, say 4 days of books and 5 days of DVDs and just 4 of other goodies, I would be cool with receiving 2-3 days of books if they are things you think I would really love.   How into the day themeing mentioned in the first post are you? All themed? A few maybe if they are fun? Not at all?   I would probably be more into general Halloweenie/Autumnal theming than say bologna or mincemeat. If it helps my treater out of a bind or if zie really can have a lot of fun with it, have at.   Speaking of DVDs - are you interested in receiving movies and if so, what sort?   Anything on my Amazon wishlist is fair game, if not terribly thematic. I don't have a whole lot of time to watch tv, period, unless it's at least 11 year old friendly, but I would love to see "Let the Right One In" and I have a fondness for old Steven King movies.   Back to the books - if you said you would like books, would you prefer I send you, say, my favorite Halloween anthology or something else spooky/scary, or something off your wishlist/want-to-read on goodreads?   Personally, books are love. I would particularly love a new thematic anthology (I have Halloween by Paula Guran and send it to everyone in these things...which means I'll have to make that last this time if I repeat it) or something kind of scary or otherwise autumnal, but really anything you think I'd love would be fabulous. My next project still in progress on goodreads is shelving my "want to read" books into "have them/don't have them", since right now it's a mix, but it should give you some ideas at the very least.   Process question: Do you want to know who is sending to you right away, or would you prefer to be surprised on the last day, to the extent possible? Likewise, do you have a preference for specifically numbered packages or for reach in and grab according to your fancy?   I definitely want to know who you are. I don't feel super strongly about when I find out, although tradition leans toward the end. In terms of numbering, both a free for all and specific numbering are fun, so whatever strikes you as most appropriate.     Would you be interested in solid perfume? What about lip balm?   I'm very much a BPAL only girl, so no on solid perfume. Lip balm forever, though, especially if it has SPF.     There was a lot of mention of not wearing costumes/not being allowed to at workplaces. Would you be interested in goth style or Halloween-themed(pumpkins, ghosts,etc.) normal clothes to wear instead, and what would be suitable?   I could probably get away with a costume more than actual club-wear and since I never actually get to wear any of the club wear I already own (and in fact might be raiding my stash of jewelry from my hardcore goth days for this swap, I'm a no on the gothy clothes question. I would love Halloweenie socks, accessories, fingerless gloves/armwarmers, t-shirts and other accessories (I'd lean more toward black/purple/spiders/bats than orange and pumpkins for anything other than socks or maybe jewelry). For that matter, a long wig could be fun - I actually borrowed a long black and purple wig and wore it to a work lunch for Halloween last year.   Rose City Comicon - Are any of them particularly appealing to you and/or your inner twelve-year-old (mine is calling dibs on the Goonies stuff)? I didn't see anything that jumps out at me in the vendor list, but my inner 12-year-old will fight your inner 12-year-old for Goonies. Day of the dead/ Dia de los Muertos stuff? I go back and forth on DDLM stuffs (as opposed to my much hoarded stash of the 2004 DDLM oil. I would love some sugar skull earrings, otherwise, I'm pretty particular. Question for all you knitters,crocheters and people who like yarn and yarnie things; can you give somebody just one or two balls of yarn? Can you make something out of that? Is it useful? This is definitely not directed at me, but no, I would get absolutely no use out of yarn, unless you made it into something for me. Does anything from this shop catch your eye? I have a lotion in some sort of vanilla from Debauchery that I really love and I'm a sucker for bubbling scrubs, so I'd be happy to try those - in terms of scents, the Black Honey and Buttermilk Nectar both look fabulous and every single one of the autumn scents I looked at looked promising. Dear Pumpkin: Do you have aversions to any animals or insects? Centipedes/millipedes, wasps, cockroaches. I would not want anything with them on. Otherwise, there's not much that freaks me out. How do you feel about stickers (and stationery in general)? Stickers and cute note cards are fine. Pretty papers are not likely to get used. I would love measuring cups in weird sizes - 2 cup, 2/3, 3/4 sorts of things. I can always use more spatulas and measuring spoons, especially if they are colorful and/or seasonal. Also, wooden spoons or other non-stick pan friendly spoony things. And baking stuff - cupcake liners, sanding sugars, that sort of thing, are always grand.   Dearist Pumpkin- do you have a preference of edible/drinkable vs. non edible items in your package? Welcome to 13 Nights of Halloween, Year 2! Your co-hosts this round will be Meaganola and Usagi.   In this swap, you will have the opportunity to gather 13 treats for another forumite, while someone else does the same for you. Then, on October 21st, all participants will begin the party, opening one gift per day until the grand finale, on November 2nd. Suggestion scents?

Okay so I am sitting here watching catching fire, and then I think, they should make the hunger games, divergent, and mortal instrument series oils. its a suggestion, and I didn't know where else to get anyone else's opinion on the matter, so I posted it here. I hope I don't get in trouble for this either because I am still new and don't know where to post suggestions yet.   I'm a big fan of the three series, and I just thought it would be cool if they could experiment with making oils based off of those.   So what do you guys think? yay or nay??

But, the only things I've ever made for myself are some blankets. So, while I can do it, I never do it for myself, so anything made for me would be greatly appreaciated! I do get hives from wools, even the nice wool blends. I could manage a hat, since I have a lot of hair, it wouldn't touch my skin...but I wouldn't be able to wear a scarf or mittens made out of wool. Anything else goes though! For bath and body products: do you have a bathtub or shower? I have both!   Incense, y/n? Incense and I do not get along at all. Would you like loose, fancy tea? Yum! I like everything, almost! I do not like jasmine teas, or roobios, or anything that's heavy on hibiscus, and licorice flavoring is icky. My favorites are spicy things, different chai type mixes, I also really like the white tea fruity flavors. And nut flavors. And chocolate ones. And green teas with flavors, black teas with fruity goodness, anything fall flavored (as in spices, and pumkins...not like dirt and dead leaves and rotting things). And ALL THE TEAS!!! What is your favorite fall activity? Leaves changing colors! The crisp air smells! The apple orchards! Pumpkin patches! The wee little kidlets coming to my door asking for candy! This is my first Halloween with doggies, and they WILL be wearing costumes! Also, because I don't know, do people with wool allergies generally also have sensitivity to other fibers like alpaca? As long as its not touching my wrists or face, I should be ok! I'm not sure about other fibers like alpaca. I know wool bothers me, even the nice wool blends.   Does anyone especially like or want anything from cost plus/world market? I haved both, but only use the shower, since I don't actually trust my bathtub to take a bath.   Dear Swappee: is there anything you might have forgotten to put on your survey? Frimp from the lab. I absolutely love Midsummer Night's Dream and have always wanted to try this. Unfortunately, it was rather disastrous.     In the imp: Faint sweet floral with a harsh chemical undertone.   Wet: YO, something went terribly wrong immediately. I don't know if it was the green note (?) or the pansy or the carnation (which hates me) or what, but I got almost no floral and a kind of awful wet swampy chemical smell. Husband said it was like bathroom air freshener from the eighties! Thankfully it didn't cause a headache, but this is really unpleasant.   Drydown: After a while it seems to get a little sweeter, but that awful chemical note remains, and I can't tell whether the perfume is sweetening or just fading. Weirdly, it also wears off very quickly but the nasty note hangs on and on and is really difficult to wash off. It smells something like floral hairspray.   Verdict: NO NO NO NO NO cat. Like someone else said, I wish I knew what notes were in this so I could avoid them forever, because something in this really doesn't go with my skin. I think it's probably a green note, beause those really really don't work on me, but usually they don't smell like some kind of awful spray.   Source: Love-In-Idleness

Spring Cleaning Swap Questions

So how do people feel about spare garden seeds? If it's herbs I would love 'em! I'm (hopefully) going to have a garden bed dedicated for herbs this summer and need some seeds for filling it!   Would you be interested in receiving fiber art supplies (like yarn, spinning fiber, etc)? Yarn probably not. Spare fabric would be loved however. I do a tea of the day post on instagram every day and like to have different fabrics for backgrounds each day.   Would you be interested in receiving beads and/or stones? (The stones are for wire wrapping...or just for looking pretty.) One can never have enough beading supplies I say.   Jewelry Please! I usually only wear stud earrings. Dangly stuff is ok as long as it is on a stud, not a hook.   Tea? YES! I know I should drink down more of what I have before getting more but being gifted with it doesn't count. Right? I love black, oolong, and pu'erh but am willing to try some whites and greens. Loose leaf is preferred but bags are ok too since they're easier to use at work.   Talismans and charms: No thank you   Do your pets need anything? I have two cats that would love small toys to bat around!   How about (unused) hair accessories (barrettes, fancy bobby pins, headbands, etc.)? I love flower clips   What about stickers, paper, paper, pens ect? Yesssssssss   Nail polish? If so, any particular colors? Triple yes! I can never get enough orange nail polish. Matte polish or topcoat is always usefull, holo is LOVED in any color, and I have a weakness for the new textured polish trend as well. I do enjoy indie brands but I'm not much of a glitter fan.   Would you want BPAL/BPTP stuff??? Do you have a wishlist? Or are you already so well-stocked with BPAL that getting more in a spring cleaning swap would be overkill? Overkill? What's that? Wishlist is in my sig as is my DISO. Scarves, shawls, tote bags...? stuffed toys for kids or pets? I love scarves and plushies (dragons, otters, red pandas, Ty beanies) and so do my kids   Do you dress-up/cosplay - if so, are there any items you need right now for fabrication? Any special accessories or fabric, supplies, etc? I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism which does Medieval recreation. Wooden plates and bowls as well as wood-handled or horn-handled utensils would be great. Linen or wool fabrics and medieval-style trim are always welcome. If you need any more ideas I have an SCA category in my Etsy wishlist. What I would most love are simple lampwork beads for the Viking garb I am putting together <3   Do you have an e-reader/tablet and would you be interested in e-books/games if I can figure out how to gift already purchased ones from my Kindle? Circular swap questions and answers

So it has come to my attention that I don't have one of these lists! Time to fix that. This post is a mishmash of questions pulled from various places and questionnaires.   Describe three things decorating your bed room/living space Bookcases, cat toys, and IKEA Helmers. Decorating is more than a little beyond me.   How do you feel about nail polish? Funny you should mention nail polish. The aforementioned Helmers? Are specifically for nail polish! Love it as long as it's a non-traditional color/finish like blue, green, glitter, holo, duochrome, etc. I don't wear pinks, reds, corals, nudes, or pretty much any other traditional, safe colors, and I'm not big on creams. I *loved* Urban Decay's early stuff!   Do you have any crafty hobbies where you might be able to use little related goodies? (beads, yarn, etc.) I occasionally (like once every two or three years) crochet scarves. I would love to learn how to knit, but other than that, I stopped doing my crafty hobbies a few years ago when my wrists were having problems even though they're doing better nowadays.   Collections? Black cats, bats, skulls, and rats. These are all year-round and everything (notepads, coffee mugs, stickers, whatever) loves. I'm also starting to collect robot magnets so I can have a ROBOT MAGNET ARMY on my fridge. So far, I have one.   Candles! Yea? Nay? Tarts? Neither. Open flames + my monsters = SINGED KITTY FACES. And smelling like burning.   Who's up for baking? No, thank you. I have a weird Thing with baked goods: Whether they're homemade or store-bought, they just sit there and never get eaten unless I take them to work and give them to coworkers. I have unopened Girl Scout cookies from last year.   Books! Physical or ebook, and anything in particular that you're looking for? Either! I don't have a Nook/Kindle, but I have an iPhone with a Kindle reader. I love left-leaning political books (Matt Taiibi! *swoon*), mysteries (I keep meaning to pick up some Chelsea Cain), and cookbooks. Oh, and Neal Stephenson (I only have _Snowcrash_ and _Zodiac_) and Neil Gaiman. And I would love to get more into graphic novels and comics that aren't Marvel or DC (current favorites: Irredeemable, Incorruptible, Chew, and A Voice in the Dark. I loved _Red Son_ because of the alternate take on the Superman mythos, but I'm really tired of the big universes in comics, so I'm looking more towards indies nowadays).   Any small things you could use? Hair claws. I have a *lot* of hair and have plenty of hair *ties*, but I'm now working on claws. I have *one*. Also office supplies: Things like fun pens, Post-Its, binder clips. I have a weird obsession with office supplies in general and pens in particular.   Do any of you also have a fondness for vintage bits and bobs? I like them, but they almost inevitably end up in storage.   Do you have an eReader? I have an iPhone with a Kindle app. Is that close enough?   How do you feel about other perfume etailers? As long as it's oil-based and not alcohol-based, it's fantastic! I have some stay-away notes, though: Vetiver, anything with the word "white," banana, aquatics, anything described as "airy" or "ethereal," civet, opium, anything evergreen-y, wood, benzoin, honey. Things I love: Red musk, black musk, citrus, violet, carnation, dragon's blood, fruit blossoms of pretty much every variety (but especially orange blossom and neroli!), non-white sandalwood, champaca, resiny stuff. I'm starting to love gardenia and jasmine, but it's slow going.   Other than fragrance oils/perfumes what is your number one (or a tie between 2-3) favorite type of toiletry or scenty item? Lotion (body butter and hand cream also get lumped into this) and bath oils that can be used in place of lotion. Dry skin like whoa over here. I can't use bar soap, though. So itchy!   Pirates or ninjas? Both! I live in an area with a rather legendary piratical past.   Zombies – love, hate, obsessed, don't care, think they're coming for us any day now, other immediate/passionate thoughts? Longstanding fascination but not anywhere near as obsessed as my brother. My favorite movie during the early '80s (until I saw _A Nightmare on Elm Street_ in high school) was _Night of the Living Dead_ (and yes, I'm still a horror fan!).   Favorite Disney villain? I'm not sure I have one. Maybe the Red Queen? I'm actually not a huge Disney fan in general, but I'm obsessed with all things _Alice in Wonderland_. I just don't *love* it.)   Is there any BPAL oil that you are dying to get your hands on? It doesn't have to be a rare, just something you really want to try? Not really. I have a bit of a take-it-as-it-comes stance on BPAL nowadays: I'll try whatever comes my way, but I've tried so many that I think I've tried all of the GC stuff I desperately wanted to try, and I haven't really been paying attention to the new stuff lately because I have tons of stuff I love already! (And then there's the part where the last several times there was a BPAL oil I wanted, it turned out I already had it in my collection.)   Do you want to see things in your box for your significant other/spouse/kids/fish/whatever? Or do you want to keep it allll about you? No spouse and no kids. Two kitties, though. Edgar is happy if something is sent in a box regardless of what it is or whether it's for him. He loves biting -- but not chewing -- the edges of boxes. Oscar loves mesh bags of stuff that he can flip around. He's currently playing with a random mesh drawstring bag with dried rose petals that he dug out of a box somewhere. He's been at it for about an hour. I will clearly be vacuuming once he finishes disemboweling it!   We've had a lot of questions about coffee and tea - how do you feel about other things? Not really. I have both, but they're pretty much abandoned at this point. I don't think I've even *looked* at Pinterest in at least six months, and I have no clue how to use Tumblr.   Favorite candles, companies and/or candle scents? Candles are a no-go. I tend to go for BPAL Atmos sprays and incense when I want to scent my living space.   Favorite kinds of tea (flavors, companies) Pretty much all kinds, especially herbal, berry, and Earl Grey variations. Loose or bags, doesn't matter. Decaf preferred just so I can drink it ALL DAY. I'm not sure I have favorite brands because I tend to be able to find something I like from every brand! I drink a ton of Stash mainly because I have easy access to their company stores and can get every flavor they make year-round.   Any of the Villainess autumn or winter soaps appeal? Another soap company you'd like more? Bar soap and I do not get along. Shower gels are my thing. I would love to try pretty much any indie shower gel because that's where I want to start sending my bath products money!   Do you like knitted items? If so, any fiber sensitivities/allergies? What kinds of items would you like? Yes! And I seem to have outgrown my wool allergy! Hats, gloves, scarves, whatever!   Words, Numbers or Spatial manipulation? Words. Valentine's Day: I just like the color hot hot pink/fuchsia. I'm not sure there's a symbol for it that I gravitate towards. St. Patrick's Day: Everything. I make an exception for my hatred of the color orange once a year for this day. Easter: Bunnies! Halloween: Black cats, bats, rats, and skulls (I love Halloween!). Winter holidays: Snowflakes. It seems like things get glittery in the winter, and I love glittery stuff, too.   Bulk-Foods Section Goodies: Yea or Nay? Let's assume they're all individually packaged, and clearly labeled with what they are. Yay! I love the bulk section.   Would a mixed CD be something you would enjoy? If so, who are some favorite artists, what style of music do you enjoy, and/or would you prefer a valentine/romantic theme or general mix? Yes! I'm very much removed from the current music scene, although that's not for any particular reason. I've been listening to a lot of Billy Bragg, Thermals, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, and Against Me! lately. I'm looking forward to March because that's when I break out ALL OF THE POGUES. I will listen to any style -- punk, rock, mid-20th century jazz (Charlie Parker! Dizzy Gillespie! Chet Baker! Dave Brubeck!), country (I tend to go for older stuff, like Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, and Willie Nelson), rap (especially lefty political stuff like Public Enemy, Boogie Down Productions, and The Coup), folk music (my kind of punk owes its soul to Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie)... I'll listen to just about everything once. I'm not big on soft, romantic music. Or reggae.   Do you like incense? Yes! I currently use stick and cone. Resin kind of confuses me, although I would love to give it a shot if I had good instructions. I used to have a really neat powder incense burner -- Sweet Rock? Something like that -- and it would be neat to have one again, although I have no idea where I got it in the first place.   if I were to find a small bottle of alcohol, would you be interested, and if yes, of what? Sure! I'm not really particular on type of alcohol because I love to try new things, but local anything is fantstic (not just alcohol! Tea, incense, paper, magnets -- you name it, I'm interested!).   Dear Valentine, I will hopefully be going to Portland this weekend for the Rose Garden Arena Monster Jam (I'm having to work 7 days in a row at 14 hours each in order to get the weekend off specifically to go there) -- is there anything Portland related that you desire? ambrette seed

the seeds have a sweet, flowery, heavy fragrance similar to that of musk.

cistus
Cistus essential oil is distilled from the rock rose plant, which is native to the Mediterranean region. It is more woody and herbaceous with a less-amber like aroma than labdanum, which is produced from the same plant. Cistus is used often in oriental and chypre fragrances.

elemi
Canarium luzonicum, commonly known as elemi, is a tree native to the Philippines, and an oleoresin harvested from it. Elemi resin is a pale yellow substance, of honey-like consistency. Aromatic elemi oil is steam distilled from the resin. It is a fragrant resin with a sharp pine and lemon-like scent.
