Fall Switch Witch 2013 Q&A

Collection of answers to Qs in the Switch Witch Halloween 2013 thread and stuff.   Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers?
All of the above! Pulling out the scarves and arm warmers is one of my favourite parts of cooler weather.

Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike?
I'm always down for candy! I used to say "except candy corn, because that stuff is nasty," but I have recently seemed to change my mind about it. Tasty stuff, candy corn. Re: decorations, I've decorated my little lawn (townhouse, so it's basically some grass, sidewalk, my two trees, and my porch and windows!) a lot already, but I can never say no to Halloween related stuff. As for costume supplies, I'm not really dressing up this year (work and school), alas.

WHAT traditions to you partake in for Halloween? Knowing what you do our how you decorate or how you celebrate? Yeah that can help me plot a box of goodness...or Doom
Depends on the year and my schedule! I do decorate (cobwebby stuff on the trees, decals in the windows, pumpkins on the porch, skeleton-y things on the bushes, bat-themed lights along the walkway), and sometimes I go to a costume party or two. I usually go to my Aunt's to pass out candy (there's little T&T in my neighbourhood because of stupid rules re: the hours one can do it), which is always fun.

Are you a fan of anything that you would like a tshirt of? If so, what size would you wear?
Anything horror-y, anything related to any TV show I like (SOA, Walking Dead, etc) or any band I like (I s'pose you could find that out by my LastFM thingie), certainly. Size-wise, XL is usually a safe bet (thanks, huge boobs!).

Do you love, hate, or are indifferent to.....pumpkin flavored things?
I'll just let this emoticon sum up my feelings on pumpkin: . So, yes, I love pumpkin flavoured and scented things, both by itself and in Pumpkin Cheesecake, Spice, Eggnog, Latte, etc form.

Dear future Witchee, did you get anything from the Beaver Moon or Weenie updates that I need to know about, so I don't accidentally repeat anything?
Not yet, but I have my eye on Ooky for a possible future purchase.

Name some DVDs you wouldnt mind receiving, or are they on an Amazon list?
I'm really not really much of a DVD-keeper. If there's something I want to see, I usually rent it at a local video store or from my library's network.

Do you want anything from Starbucks or Teavana? Tea, tea makers, rock sugar, tea tins, coffee, via, via refreshers, mugs, tazo tea...?
I can always use tea accessories like rock sugar, tins, mugs, etc, and I'm always looking to try to kinds of tea.

Say your witch works at a used bookstore. what kinds of things might you like from there? cool old pulp fiction paperbacks? tarot cards? (we have those.) a dr who pen? books about haunted cemeteries in seattle? you may have all of these things:) oh, and also movies. and cds.
All of the above! Okay, maybe not the haunted cemeteries of Seattle... though haunted cemeteries/places of Michigan would be awesome! I love used books (except obviously moudly and/or smoke-damaged ones; those like to try to kill me).

I've got some canned goods put up -- mostly jams/jellies, some apple butter, some applesauce. Want some? If so, what kind(s)?
Love me some jams and jellies. And butters. And applesauce. Anything but grape.

How feel you about lip balms, glosses, and lipsticks? Any particular favourite scents/flavours? Any favourite makers/sellers?
Huge fan of balms and glosses, but not so much lipsticks. Given the season, I'm big into pumpkiny, cinnamony, and minty flavours/scents. Texture-wise, I prefer balms to lip butters; the latter always feel too greasy for me. No particular favourite sellers, and I'm always open to new ones!

Table Games - do you play them? If so, which ones, and which versions, and are there any goodies you might like related to them?
Alas, not so much. I've always been interested in them, but I never have the time to devote to learning/playing.

Witchee, are you in need of any particular spices?
I don't believe so! I keep everything pretty well-stocked and fresh (ew stale spices), and I don't think I'm running low/out of/in need of anything in particular.

Are there any craft project/s you are working on now that you need supplies for? Or rather, is there a craft project you've been wanting to do but need stuff to start?
I'm always working on something or other. At the moment I'm researching and acquiring stuff to dabble in making lotion, sugar scrub, lip balm and possibly whipped soap/foaming lotion (just for my own use and maybe for family, etc), but I have pretty much everything I need already on order or in transit. The only thing I haven't ordered yet is fragrance oils, because I haven't had the time to sort through reviews to see who sells crap and who sells good stuff.

Would you rather have something fun or practical?
Either-or!

If you were this mystery witch's witchee, would you be interested in Spoonfudge or any other such "ordered online" sweet?
I would be totally cool with any sort of food any sort of way. At all.

Also - Double checking everyone's baked goods status. Home-made baked goods or other food stuffs OK?
Most assuredly yes.

Are you okay with semi-spicy foods right now? I'm thinking like curry or chipotle? If you were to choose a chili powder would you go Hot, Medium, or Mild?
Totally depends on the spice. In general, though, anything hotter than, say, RedHot (which I adore) is too hot for me. I like tangy-hot, not "tastes like burning" hot.

If I were your witch and were to paint you something, what would you absolutely love, what would you feel ambivalent toward, and what would you not like to see or receive?
I've said this before, but I'm pretty art-stupid, so... I have no idea. I'd dig anything with bright colours, really.

Is there anything you'd like from Lush, witchee?
Oy, I haven't ordered anything from LUSH in years, so I wouldn't know where to start. Nothing against 'em, mind, I've just been happily occupied with smaller-scale shops/sites/sellers. That said (and I did forget to mention this in my Q), anything but shampoo/conditioner (I usually have unnaturally-coloured hair [silver-blue at the moment], so I have to stick with "special" [and awful-smelling] stuff) would be cool!

Do you have any upcoming away time I should be aware of, for shipping purposes?
Nope! None planned, anyway!

Would you like anything from Sock Dreams?
Oof, it's all so lovely. Anything stripey or colourful re: socks or gloves/arm warmers would be cool.

Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends.
I love Adagio! I've tried about half of their teas, and aside from a bad batch of Gunpowder, it's all been fantastic. My favourites so far have been Birthday Cake (a blend), Honeybush Vanilla, Rooibos Earl Grey, and Earl Grey Bravo.

Do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library?
I do play, but mostly only adventure- and horror (mostly psychological, some survival), and even then, I'm pretty picky. Besides, I don't have much time to play anymore.

Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of
Hungry Ghost Moon (either year), Snow White (any year), Snake Charmer.

Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer?
I have not, but it looks lovely. Their emulsified scrubs and body butters look especially intriguing, and Big in Japan and Halcyon sound like they'd smell fantastic (though, so do a lot of others!)

Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow?
Not where I live, but I keep a garden at my Aunt's (who lives less than a mile away) in return for splitting the results (which, since it's a pretty big garden, is not a problem! ). I usually grow beans, cabbage (when the rabbits let me!), green peppers, tomatoes, squash (varies by year), sweet banana peppers, green onions, yellow onions, leeks, lettuce (variety varies by year), and a lot of herbs.

Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for?
Usually yay! The only GCs I ever say "nay" to are for places I'd never, ever be in, like the Babys R Us one I got recently (subtle hint, maybe?),

Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself?
Honestly, if I could remember them, I'd have most likely picked them up.

Is there anything from a farmer's market you might like?
Depends on the market! I went a little crazy at the last FM of the season in my city and bought so much fresh corn and gorgeous tomatoes I might drown in them.

How do you feel about nail polish? If you like it, are there any brands or colors in which you are interested?
LOVE. IT. I can only wear it on weekends (stupid hospital rules) but slapping on some pretty varnish Friday nights has become like a ritual with me. I don't have a favourite brand, really; anything bright (I've been trying and failing to find a really bright neon yellow-green [kind of somewhere near #B0FF05] lately) or sparkly is always a safe bet.

What about makeup? What brands do you prefer and which products would you most enjoy receiving?
Love, and I tend to love it all! I'm only really (really) picky about foundation (being that I'm so pale I'm nearly translucent, and it's hard to find a foundation that doesn't make me look like I've just bathed in spray tanner). I'm fairly simple as makeup goes: concealer, foundation, black eyeliner, coloured eyeshadow, mascara, lip stain/gloss and done. Re: eyeshadow, I've been a fan of mid- to dark-ish greens and smokey grays lately. Re: lip glosses/stains, I've been gravitating toward plums and berry shades.

How do you feel about robots?
Robots are awesome.

If I made fairy, dragon or butterfly wing earrings, would you wear them? If so, which would you prefer?
Certainly! I love both, but I collect dragon-related things, so between the two, dragon!

Do you prefer to receive whole coffee beans or ground? Also, if you like flavoured blends, what sort of flavours? (caramels, nuts, chocolate, etc.)
Either's fine! I do love flavoured coffee, though I'm not a fan of bitter flavours (super dark chocolate, etc). Caramel, nuts, and non-dark-as-hades chocolate are awesome, though.

I like snickers, m&ms, twix, butterfingers. If its chocolate, its good. Oh and lollipops! I have three costumes already planned (day of the dead, 1920s flapper and Marie from Breaking Bad). I have everything I need for the Marie costume. However, if my witch wants to add anything to the other two costumes, then that will be great!   I don't really decorate for Halloween. Shameful I know

SW Fall 2013 help!

I just want to say first off that I am so excited to be playing this again! Thank you to my dear Witch for scoping me out. I always feel a bit weird asking for things, so I will just post things I really like!   I absolutely love Yankee Candle's Sugared Apple! Bordering on obsession actually. The problem is that it has been 'discontinued' but whenever I ask about it in stores, there is always a small supply on the "throwback" shelf, and there is always a bunch at the factory in MA. I'm not sure why they say it's discontinued when they still technically produce it. Anyway I am down to my last jar, and there's less than half left so I would shriek with joy to be gifted with ANYTHING Sugared Apple. seriously.   That was the only thing I could think of for now, but I am sure I will think of more later!

Switch O'Ween Questions

Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers? I am down for all of the above. I have a Sockdreams wishlist here. I wear arm warmers regularly at work, because my office is kept at refrigerator-like temperatures. I like dark colors, and soft textures, though vivid jewel colors, and color combinations reminiscent of flames and peacocks are also a fast way to my heart.   Uh, yay for knit caps - cables are awesome! - and fuzzy scarves. Lots of love.   Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike? Candy: I like Halloween candy - small portions are easier for me to handle. Uh, dark chocolate is good, Twix, Milky Ways, York Patties - I like interesting regional candy, if you have any. Sour gummies are always a favorite. Please no pink-flavored bubble gum, candy corn, or black licorice.   Decorations: I like cute things, such as grinning pumpkins, cute bats, leaf patterns, etc, etc. Obscure book references are also good - I'll be making an Elder Sign out of EL-wire. Gross/macabre stuff isn't really my thing.   Costumes: I tend to go for elegant, highly detailed costumes. I don't want to look like X. I want to pass for X completely. Steampunk corsets, full kimonos, researched medieval garb: I take my costumes seriously.   Pumpking flavored things? Yes. All of the pumpkin flavored, pumpkin scented things. All of them.   Are you a fan of anything that you would like a tshirt of? If so, what size would you wear? I wear an XS-S, depending on the sizing. Uh, I'm a fan of XKCD, Game of Thrones, math jokes, pumpkins, Transformers, Celtic knots, foxes and Japanese dragons.   What traditions do you partake in for Halloween? I run a tabletop board game for a group of my friends, I go to my parent's neighborhood block party, and this year, I finally have my own place, so I'll be handing out candy. Oh, and I'll be dressing up for work.     Dear future Witchee, did you get anything from the Beaver Moon or Weenie updates that I need to know about, so I don't accidentally repeat anything? I ordered Goblin Market and Ookie, but I would be delighted to get Beaver Moon I. From the Halloweenies, I'd like to get my hands on Dark Pumpkin Mead, Morrocan in the Garden, and Snakes in the Garden.   Name some DVDs you wouldn't mind receiving, or are they on an Amazon list? Disney films - I don't have enough cartoons. The Lion King, Mulan, Emperor's New Groove, the Great Mouse Detective would be welcome. I love Studio Ghibli films, and still need to get hard copies of Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle.   I like action/martial arts movies - you know the kind, where the hero spends most of the movie shirtless? Yeah, those.   On a more Halloweeny note, I really like real life forensic shows. The A&E show Cold Case Files, or Solved, the First 48, etc, etc. I'm a sucker for MurderTV.   I'll try to update my Amazon wishlist this weekend.   Do you want anything from Starbucks or Teavana? Tea, tea makers, rock sugar, tea tins, coffee, via, via refreshers, mugs, tazo tea...? I don't frequent Starbucks all that often, but I would quite cheerfully sell a controlling interest in my soul, in exchange for more of Teavana's tea.   Would be much beloved: Marasala Chai Black Tea Maharaja Chai Oolong Tea Dosha Chai Rooibos Tea Pumpkin Spice Brulee Oolong Tea Citrus Lavender Sage Strawberry Lemonade Herbal Tea Pineapple Kona Pop Herbal Tea Sweet Fruit Garden Herbal Tea Rock sugar   Cute mugs, or double-walls glass cups would be lovely.   (I like their white honey, but there's a local store that sells it for less than Teavana does.)   Pinterest - here   Say your witch works at a used bookstore. what kinds of things might you like from there? cool old pulp fiction paperbacks? tarot cards? (we have those.) A Dr. Who pen? Books about haunted cemeteries in Seattle? You may have all of these things:) Oh, and also movies and CDs. Booooooks! So, uh, I like books. I have more books than I have bookshelves, and I'm okay with that. I like true crime, urban fantasy, smutty romance, and books of historical nonfiction. Tarot decks are always more than welcome! Oh, books about stuff, in the literal sense - my dad has a book about screwdrivers, and the history of tools that was fascinating.   I tend to use mechanical pencils, not pens (I make a lot of typos, and I cringe whenever I have to scribble out my mistakes.)   Witchee, the Haunt Halloween update goes live tomorrow! When it does, please post right away and let me know your dreams and wishes! General Catalogue -Cinnamon Girl and Orange Blossom Tea both sound lovely. Perfume Oils - Claw & Cobblestone, Coffee Feind, Gathering, Golden Pumpkin, Incantare, Winchester And all of the lipbalms. Srsly.   Table Games - do you play them? If so, which ones, and which versions, and are there any goodies you might like related to them? Yes! I run New World of Darkness every weekend, and more ten-sided dice are more than welcome. The same goes for dice bags, mechanical pencils and nifty folders/clipboards. The publishing company is White Wolf, if that helps.   Witchee, are you in need of any particular spices? I burn through basil and red chili pepper at an incredible clip, and more of those spices are always welcome.     What do you think of hair sticks? Would you like a set? Yes, yes I very much would. I have very long hair, and I use hair sticks whenever I'm dressing nicely. My only request is that they be sturdy - I have a couple of delicate little pieces that I'm afraid to use.   Are there any craft project/s you are working on now that you need supplies for? Or rather, is there a craft project you've been wanting to do but need stuff to start? String! Yarn! Fiber! *ahem* So, I knit, and lately, I've been making kumihimo lately. Yarn, knitting needles, stitch markers, and kumihimo weights are all awesome. (I will update my Amazon and Etsy wishlist with examples, if that helps.)   For specifics - I am a sucker for soft fibers. Silk, bamboo, treated cotton, etc, etc. I like vivid colors, (and black. Much of my yarn is black), and minimal halo. Variegated yarn can be fun, particularly when it's a slow shift, such as the Twisted Fiber Art Evolutions.   Is there anything you'd really like to have/try from Trader Joe's, or any other popular-but-not-available-everywhere store? I love fruit butters, and salsas. If there are any interesting local foods, I'm more than happy to try them.   Would you rather have something fun or practical? There is a question. I'm down for both, really. Uh, I feel bad about liking knick-knacks, as I have limited space, but sufficient cuteness will overcome that.   Cards Against Humanity? Sure! Also, Munchkin, Apples to Apples, or Magic. Games, I play them. (Have you ever tried mixing Apples to Apples and Cards Against Humanity? Silliness ensues.)   Are you okay with semi-spicy foods right now? I'm thinking like curry or chipotle? If you were to choose a chili powder would you go Hot, Medium, or Mild? Feel the burn! I love me some spicy foods. So far as I'm concerned, chili powder is measured in full teaspoons, not 1/8 teaspoons. Curry or chipotle would both be welcome, and my preference for both is 'blindingly spicy'.   If you were this mystery witch's witchee, would you be interested in Spoonfudge or any other such "ordered online" sweet? Excuse me, I have to clean drool off of my keyboard. *ahem* Yes, I'd be delighted. As for Spoonfudge - Chocolate Cherry, Cinnamon (That's How We) Roll, Chocolate Orange, Pumpkin Cheesecake, and Chocolate Raspberry. Also, mochi is a speedy way to my heart.   Also - Double checking everyone's baked goods status. Home-made baked goods or other food stuffs OK? I'm more than happy to take delicious baked goods off of your hands. If you baked it yourself, I'd love the recipe, as well.     Is there anything you'd like from Lush, witchee? Indeed! I have enough solid and liquid soap to keep my happy for a while, and I have a couple tins of their solid shampoo and conditioner. That said, I'd be delighted to my hands on - The Pumpkin Bath Bomb (so cute!), along with any of their glittery bath bombs. Any of the facial cleansers or masks Any of the body butters, or massage bars Lip balms! I love them.   If you like earrings, what kind? Dangly earrings, hoops, studs - what kind do you like? How long do you like your necklaces? Or would you prefer to just get a pendent, so you chain yourself? I have 13 ear piercings, so more surgical steel captive bead rings are always welcome. I wear necklaces regularly, and I prefer shorter chains. (I, uh, have proportionally large boobs, so longer chains tend to look less professional.) I can dig pendents, and my Etsy should have a listing of the kind of thing I like. As for stones - lapis lazuli, malachite, mystic or London blue topaz, amethyst and tourmaline are all awesome.   If I were your witch and were to paint you something, what would you absolutely love, what would you feel ambivalent toward, and what would you not like to see or receive? I play a lot of table-top games, and I collect character art. I'm including the information on that below, but I'm stuffing it behind a cut, because it's huge and boring, unless you're into character art.       Other than crazy-detailed character art, I like foxes! Cute foxes, foxes getting up to stuff, etc, etc. I like calligraphy, kitsune, morning glories and cute stuff of cats. For example - http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/FoxandCookie_zps0684ffaa.png http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g148/aquagirl1300/Purrito_zps31a66fb2.png   Also this sigil is significant to me, and I treasure the art I have of it.   Dear Witchee: Do you have any upcoming away time I should be aware of, for shipping purposes? Nope. I should be in town.   Prancing Pony Etsy Shop? Not really my style.   Miskatonic Valley Philharmonic To my disappointment, the musks and patchouli has devoured everything that might work for me.   Would you like anything from Sock Dreams? My wishlist, let me show it to you! http://www.sockdreams.com/_users/wishlists/2719cc458f0dded   Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. I haven't tried any of their teas, specifically, but I am a sucker for chai teas, and for fruity teas (preferably herbals, but fruity black teas are also nice.)   Do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? My Pokemons, let me show them to you! I play video games either on my computer, or on handheld devices, but I borrowed a friend's PS3 to play Ni no Kuni (it's a game partially designed by Studio Ghibli.)   I play Civilization, Puzzle Pirates and Pokemon, all maniacally.   Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. General Catalog - Carnal, Kill-Devil, Kumiho Limited - Autumn Moon of the Mirror Stand, Giant Vulva, Halloween: Las Vegas   Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? I'd like to try their scrubs, and the following scents sound lovely: Big In Japan, The Queen is Dead Heima Halcyon Gingermilk Sweet Cheeks Lavendar Truffle   Also, these look cook: Pink Grapefruit - Shaving Soap Mandinka Shaving Soap   Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I have a window box and a rear balcony. I'm not growing anything at the moment, but I'd like to try growing herbs.   Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Yay! Jamba Juice tends to be my favorite.   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Specialty dice, mostly. I keep my Etsy updated with all of the shiny things I find.   Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? Uh, I need a new stick of mascara. I'm running low on thin hair ties, scarves and lotion. Oh, cute cell phone dongles are always fun.   Is there anything from a farmer's market you might like? Fruit butters! Also, jams and jellies.   How do you feel about nail polish? If you like it, are there any brands or colors in which you are interested? I don't have any preference on brand, but I like *deep*, vivid reds, glittery colors and metallics. I don't care for pinks, or pastels.   What about makeup? What brands do you prefer and which products would you most enjoy receiving? Urban Decay does good things, as does NARS (admittedly, their stuff is expensive), but I use a wide variety of brands. I like glittery shadows (so much glitter!), eyeliners in all colors, and brown mascara. I am a sucker for tinted lip balms. Honestly, toss glitter at me and I will be a very happy camper.   Are you interested in anything from the Haus of Gloi yule update on November 3rd? Which products and which scents? Scrubs - Potter's Breakfast, Eggnoggin, Rosy Cheeked Perfume Oil - Glogg, Hearth, Parkin Butterbombs - Sugar Plum and Holiday Citrus The lipbalms - yes. I'll take any of them. I'm a sucker.   Do you prefer to receive whole coffee beans or ground? Also, if you like flavoured blends, what sort of flavours? (caramels, nuts, chocolate, etc.) I'm not really a coffee person, I'm afraid.   If I made fairy, dragon or butterfly wing earrings, would you wear them? If so, which would you prefer? Good lord, yes. Preference for butterfly wings, then dragon. Yeeesssss....   Is there anything you would like from the Blooddrop Halloween update? Fragrances Halloween Not Ever Again. Chai Tea (oh, god, if you get any of them, get this.) Candied Yams Autumn Delights A Coffin Built for Two 8:30 AM   Whipped Body Cream Vanilla and Ginger Apple Pumpkin and Honey   How do you feel about robots? I, for one, welcome our robot overlords! (Also, the boyfriend does a lot of programming. Robots are fun.)   Do you want to be an early accepter or would you prefer your reveal later in the swap, say maybe closer to the deadline? I don't have much of a preference. I tend to be a sekret-ninja-witch, and typically only reveal myself in a note in the final package, but if my witch wants to unmask, I'm fine with that.   Are there any GC scents that you love, but for whatever reason, you keep putting off buying bottles of? Hellfire, Fox Fires on New Year's Eve (III), Kitsune-Tsuki, Kiyohime Changes from a Serpent (III), Kumiho, La Vague, War, The Fox-Woman Kuzuncha Leaving Her Child (I), O, Velvet   I'd love to get my hands on White Rabbit.   If your Witch were to create a cookbook of recipes she thought you'd like, would you be interested in that sort of thing? And if so, what sort of recipes would you be interested in? Hell yeah! Holiday recipes, soups, meatloaves and cookies are all more than welcome. If you happen to have a favorite recipes for bread, or for eat-this-to-feel-better, that'd be awesome.   Also witch do you like use candles? I do! I have a number of small Moroccan lanterns, so I go through tealights at a good clip. I also like the scented candles that come in glass jars - they're self-contained, tidy and difficult to knock over. These are important attributes. I don't have any preference on color, but I like pumpkin-y and sweet scents.   Would you be interested in getting a kit of sorts to learn how to do a craft or make something, with some basic starter materials and instructions? And if yes, what sorts of things would you be interested in learning? Crochet would be cool - I have the yarn and needles, but instructions would be awesome. (Also, erm, books on weightlifting for newbies would be cool.)

Not sure. I'm ok with it but dh is wierded out by it. So probably not. Cards Against Humanity? I'm not sure when I'd play it but it looks like fun. Is there anything you'd really like to have/try from Trader Joe's, or any other popular-but-not-available-everywhere store? Nope, we have 2 within 15-20 minutes from us.   Would you rather have something fun or practical? I lean towards fun, but really either. Is there any craft project/s you are working on now that you need supplies for? Or rather, is there a craft project you've been wanting to do but need stuff to start? Nope, though I will never say no to a fun/unique project bag.   Hair Sticks? I'm bald so...no. Table Games? Not really, but maybe something not too complicated that my 6 and 11 year can play with us.   Spices? I don't cook, but maybe some popcorn seasoning?   Haunt? Coffee Fiend sugar scrub, Tell the Bees anything, Incantare perfume, glossing oil, or sugar scrub. If you were my witchee, would you be interested in anything from my store or something similar? (Nut-made by LisaNut on etsy.) I knit so probably not. Say your witch works at a used bookstore. what kinds of things might you like from there? cool old pulp fiction paperbacks? tarot cards? (we have those.) a dr who pen? books about haunted cemeteries in seattle? you may have all of these things:) oh, and also movies. and cds. Books about haunted cemeteries you say? Sure, especially a Doctor Who pen or tarot cards.   Lipbalms, glosses, etc? No thank you. I have enough to last several people several lifetimes.   Jams, jellies, applebutter, etc? I don't really like them, but someone in the house will eat them. Dear future Witchee, did you get anything from the Beaver Moon or Weenie updates that I need to know about, so I don't accidentally repeat anything? Nope.   Do you want anything from Starbucks or Teavana? Tea, tea makers, rock sugar, tea tins, coffee, via, via refreshers, mugs, tazo tea...? Any of the mate teas and I really need another one of their iced tea pitcher things. Do you love, hate, or are indifferent to.....pumpkin flavored things? Not a fan of pumpkin, sorry! WHAT traditions to you partake in for Halloween? Knowing what you do our how you decorate or how you celebrate? Yeah that can help me plot a box of goodness...or Doom We don't do a lot other than the usual trick or treating and birthday cake/presents (it's my youngest daughter's birthday). We do like to decorate (in fact, much of it stays up year round lol). Lots of skeletons/skulls, ravens, etc. in all styles. I really love DDLM and we usually try to do a little something for it. Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike?I love candy corn (Brachs) and pumpkins! Also, pixie stix, fun size 3 Musketeers, Candy Apple Mars, and Snickers. I really dislike the chocolate flavored candy corn. Decoration wise, anything that can be hung up (we have run out of shelf, mantle, etc space). Nothing for costumes please.   Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers? I'm a knitter so I am overrun with knitted arm warmers, but wouldn't mind a non-knitted pair. I usually don't like scarves but after many years dh found me one I love so that's pretty much all I wear. A hat would be good (I shave my head so please something soft and stretchy) and maybe socks (knee high or above).

My Switch O'Ween Q&A

SWITCH WITCH HELP <--- clickie   Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers? Socks and wrist warmers. I only wear page boy type hats and I have like 500 scarves so PLEASE GOD NO SCARVES. (Unless they're silk or can be used as a table runner or something.) Wraps, yes. Love wraps. As far as knitted items go be aware that my skin is really uber sensitive (probably from wearing so much perfume; I get contact dermatitis at the drop of a hat) so please only buttery soft merino, silk, cashmere, or a combo. No acrylic or scratchy wool. My feet aren't as sensitive so bfl or merino are both fine (some nylon content in socks is excellent.)   Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike? Decorations yes! But no ghosts, pumpkins, or witches... I love bats, gargoyles, ravens, skulls and I decorate all year round with those.   I'm super picky about my chocolate and candy... but maybe reese's peanut butter cups would be ok. I've been craving chocolate and peanut butter lately. (I'd really prefer Newman's peanut butter cups but I don't think they make halloween bags of candy? I try to stick to organic/fair trade.)   As far as costume supplies, I'd love a nice weeping angel mask and wings... and something to make my skin weeping angel color. I saw that Hot Topic had nasty plastic weeping angel masks but I'd love a full head one. In case you're crafty and know how to make masks.   WHAT traditions to you partake in for Halloween? Knowing what you do our how you decorate or how you celebrate? We usually dress up in our (normal to us) fetish type gear and go out. It's the only night of the year that the other half feels comfortable being in "public" while dressed up like a pony. Yeah, probably TMI, but you asked.   Are you a fan of anything that you would like a tshirt of? If so, what size would you wear? I usually only wear babydoll type shirts in XXXL or XXL if they're stretchy. I love Nightmare Before Christmas, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, etc. and I would wear shirts for all of the above. I have a lot of shirts on my Amazon and Think Geek wishlists. Edit: and Firefly, but I don't like brown (which sucks!) so no brown shirts. I prefer black, grey, or dark purple.   Do you love, hate, or are indifferent to.....pumpkin flavored things? Usually I'm not super crazy about pumpkin flavored things in general, but I LOVE pumpkin bread and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I've been known to have the occasional Pumpkin Spice Latte but I don't HAVE to have one. And right now Teavana has an oolong tea that is FANTASTIC -- Pumpkin Spice Brulee. I bought some last week and I've already emptied the bag. But I get 30% off at Teavana so unless you also get a discount then it would make more sense to send me a GC instead of buying me something.   Name some DVDs you wouldnt mind receiving, or are they on an Amazon list? I think my Amazon DVD list is private because I don't usually buy DVD's new... And I'd like to get a PS3 / blu-ray player, our dvd player upstairs just died so now we have to watch dvd's downstairs. Our tv's are ancient so they don't work with most blu-ray players. And a new tv just isn't in our budget or a priority right now because the dishwasher ALSO stopped working (it's been a bad month, everything electrical is breaking except for (knock on wood) our computers, and ...yeah. The other half is leaving for Argentina a week from today and won't be back until late December. So his pay for doing shows in Argentina won't be home until he comes home. He's supposed to get a partial advance soon and I have to budget all of the bills from it and my future pay checks, so things are going to be lean around here. I might have to sell a bunch of bpal and yarn in order to buy new fun bpal and bptp things. Sorry, ketchup burst there. Things that I would like that I don't have yet * Much Ado About Nothing (Joss Whedon version) * The Year Without a Santa Claus / Nestor, The Long-Eared Christmas Donkey / Rudolph's Shiny New Year * The Original Television Christmas Classics (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer/Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town/Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns/The Little Drummer Boy/Cricket on the Hearth) * Joe Versus the Volcano * Donnie Darko: The Director's Cut (Two-Disc Special Edition)   Dear future Witchee, did you get anything from the Beaver Moon or Weenie updates that I need to know about, so I don't accidentally repeat anything? Not yet!! We're totally broke and I think my credit card doesn't have any room on it for anything else. gulp. But I *WANT* both of the BM's (AHAHAHA, what, I'm 12) and the single note. So I will probably attempt to find some way to order them. Even if it means I have to pimp out the other half. And I already have everything from the Halloweenie update because I do decant circles. I DON'T have anything from the BPTP update yet but I plan on getting everything I want... someday... edit: I am also doing a BPTP circle so I have everything now. and I also ordered both Beaver Moons and the new single note. And I'm doing a Philharmonic circle, so I have all of those too. I hope the Yule and Inquisition are small..   If you were my witchee, would you be interested in anything from my store or something similar? (Nut-made by LisaNut on etsy.) You have all kinds of awesome things but nothing that is really my style.   Say your witch works at a used bookstore. what kinds of things might you like from there? cool old pulp fiction paperbacks? tarot cards? (we have those.) a dr who pen? books about haunted cemeteries in seattle? you may have all of these things:) oh, and also movies. and cds. Yes yes yes. dr who pen, sci-fi/fantasy, movies, cds. My amazon list is pretty extensive except for the cd's and movies. I wish LibraryThing would document movies and albums along with books.   Witchee, the Haunt Halloween update goes live tomorrow! When it does, please post right away and let me know your dreams and wishes! I saw some entries for Halloween things when I was updating my amazon wish list (because I still have wishes for Haunt Lip Lust!) I'd be interested in any yummy lip lust, shower scrubs, perfume, or body glossing that sounds like it would be up my alley. Usually she has too much fruit, floral, or chocolate but every once in a while there is something I MUST HAVE. I love lavender, honey, vanilla, spices, amber, patch, woods, incense. Gloaming is a favorite but I'm set there for perfume and body scrub but I could use more body gloss of that and I'm almost out of my other one too... Roma? I'll have to look.   Ok, update is up!!   I'm interested in...   Lip lust in: cask, pumpkin cake, caramel apple Skin glossing oil in: incantare! Winchester, gloomy Sunday, hobgoblin, claw & cobblestone Sugar polish in: incantare, Winchester, tell the bees, hobgoblin, claw & cobblestone Perfume in: incantare, gloomy Sunday, Winchester   I've got some canned goods put up -- mostly jams/jellies, some apple butter, some applesauce. Want some? If so, what kind(s)? Apple butter, applesauce, jams/jellies -- all are good!!   How feel you about lip balms, glosses, and lipsticks? Any particular favourite scents/flavours? Any favourite makers/sellers? I like lip balm and I have a bunch of my amazon wish list under the bath and beauty section. Haunt, Better Botanicals, and I'd like to try some Tokyomilk Dark Lip Elixirs.   Since wishlist links never seem to work in forum mail, won't you please re-post your wishlist links here, so they're readable? Mine are all in the "SW Help" link in my signature. I have links to Amazon, Etsy, The Loopy Ewe, Think Geek, Soapbox Company, Scent Addict (THEY STILL HAVE STUFF LEFT. IT'S ALL HALF PRICE.) And a couple other things. My Amazon wishlist has TONS of stuff on it added with the Universal Wishlist adder, so for things like Haunt, Lush, etc. - they're all there!   Table Games - do you play them? If so, which ones, and which versions, and are there any goodies you might like related to them? Meh. I would love playing games if I had people to play with. My games are all packed up and out in a shed with the majority of my stuff (books, gargoyles, bearistas, mugs, depression glass, candles & holders, candle and soap making equipment, unicorn collectibles... someday I'll get to unpack!) long story short (too late), no, not right now.   Witchee, are you in need of any particular spices? I would like some pumpkin pie spices and I could use some pure vanilla. Any spices I need are in my amazon wish list in either edibles or kitchen & cooking. Honest, my wishlists are EXTENSIVE! Mostly so I don't forget what I need because I have a horrible memory. I would never say no to fancy salts and a new salt grinder. I'm out of everything except pink and normal.   Are there any craft project/s you are working on now that you need supplies for? Or rather, is there a craft project you've been wanting to do but need stuff to start? I always always always need more knitting needles (I am waiting to start two knitting projects but I had to order more needles first; I already ordered them though - from The Loopy Ewe. I have a knitting needle selection on my wishlist there that specifies sizes and brands/types. My favorites are Hiya Hiya SHARP and ChiaoGoo Red Lace. I usually use 24" - 32" for cable length. You can buy them almost anywhere - Amazon, etsy, most knitting places. I just bought from The Loopy Ewe because I have some credit there so I didn't have to spend any money, not necessarily because they were the best price.   I'd also love some really cool fabric -- especially Nightmare Before Christmas, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, etc. - to make knitting project bags. A yard would probably make about three or four bags.   What do you think of hair sticks? Would you like a set? No, I would have no idea how to use them but more importantly my hair is normally shaved on the sides/back. (it's "long" right now, meaning that it has about 3" of grow out from sides/back and 10" or so from top of the head. Not really long enough for even a pony tail. Maybe a dork knob if I used a lot of gel.)   Is there anything you'd really like to have/try from Trader Joe's, or any other popular-but-not-available-everywhere store? I live by a Trader Joes so I'm good there.   The thing that I have been wanting ever since I moved away from Texas (I was only there about five months before fleeing) are more Cannon's Sweet Hots (mild) - haven't been able to find them anywhere locally for purchase - no one on Amazon even sells them. The mild are not hot, they're mostly sweet. They're really good on hot dogs and burgers.   Don't mistake my unholy love for the Cannon's as a love of hot peppers. I don't really like hot spicy things, my favorite Tobasco for instance is the green - which is more tangy than hot. I like pepperoncini and jalapenos on my sandwiches and pizza but these are usually pickled. Fresh jalapeno really varies in heat too, I prefer the mild ones. Garlic on the other hand, one can never have enough of.   I'm a huge fan of savory food. I also love garlic, dill pickles & dill relish, garlic stuffed green olives, peppadews, cornichons, kalamata olives, most salami/summer sausage, KRAVE jerky, beef jerky in general, CHEESE!, mead, tawny port, ice wine, rosemary/garlic crostini type crackers, crusty bread (especially baked with kalamatas or rosemary), fresh apples/pears/grapes, dried cherries and cranberries, almonds, pecans, jams/jellies that are odd flavors like rose, lavender, jasmine, pepper (habanero raspberry or jalapeno jelly or whatever), etc. I also go through a ton of honey. How is this all relevant to this question? Well, I don't know what kind of popular but not available everywhere stores are out there unless they are local to me, so if you have a store that has these kinds of things as a specialty -- then yes, nom nom nom. (I can buy everything I listed locally except the Cannons but it's fun to have local pickles/jams/honey/jerky/etc. from other places.)   Would you rather have something fun or practical? I'm a virgo. Fun and practical are the SAME THING.   Witchee, would you like a set of Cards Against Humanity? um, I have no idea what this is but if it's fun I suppose so? Maybe I could convince the other half to play games with me at some point?   Are you okay with semi-spicy foods right now? I'm thinking like curry or chipotle? If you were to choose a chili powder would you go Hot, Medium, or Mild? We used the hottest possible chili powders for making our muscle rub (it's kind of like Icy Hot, but all natural ingredients and made in tune with the lunar cycle) but as far as me eating it, I am a huge wimp right now and only put teeny amounts of chili powder in with my mashed avocados (along with salt, garlic, and cumin. NOM NOM NOM.) But I don't like peppers in my chocolate or sweet things (except savory jams and still like those on the milder side...) and mild. I like milder peppers.   If you were this mystery witch's witchee, would you be interested in Spoonfudge (http://www.spoonfudge.com/) or any other such "ordered online" sweet? I haven't ever had their chocolate and I am kind of a chocolate snob, so I don't know? I used to like Milka bars but even those taste waxy and nasty now. Although the drug store had a special on Moonstruck chocolate and I bought a couple of those (they're from Portland) and it was GOOD. Seattle Chocolates isn't the highest quality but they're ok. Vosges Naga is one of my favorites and I love Dolfin.   Also - Double checking everyone's baked goods status. Home-made baked goods or other food stuffs OK? As long as you're super anal about being clean and sanitized... I get squicked out if I find hair in my food.   Is there anything you'd like from Lush, witchee? This is pretty thoroughly covered under the bath/beauty wishlist on Amazon. I need SO MUCH but unfortunately most of the stuff I want is UK only (gentle lentil shampoo, fairy sugar scrub, never too busy to b beautiful, see my Amazon wishlist!) but there is stuff available locally that I want too.   If you like earrings, what kind? Dangly earrings, hoops, studs - what kind do you like? How long do you like your necklaces? Or would you prefer to just get a pendent, so you can size the chain yourself? This is somewhat covered under the original questions and under the wearable wishlist on Amazon. I usually only wear studs (but I have thick lobes so they have to have long posts) or body piercing spirals/half circles/whatever is cute (not hoops because I suck at getting the bead in), I'm allergic to everything except sterling, surgical steel, titanium. My neck size is what.. 16", so I need necklaces that are at least 21-22" and if the clasps aren't silver, I'll break out from the clasp itself let alone the rest of the necklace. I don't need any pendants unless they are on my wishlist, I usually only wear my scent locket. I could use more silver chains.   If I were your witch and were to paint you something, what would you absolutely love, what would you feel ambivalent toward, and what would you not like to see or receive? Love: Gargoyles, ravens, bats, my dogs, friesians, dark purple/blue swirly things (anything you see on my Pinterest or etsy favorites..) Ambivalent or not like: er, oranges, yellows, browns? I would need to look at something specifically really because my whims can vary greatly.   Is there anything in the Miskatonic Valley Philharmonic update that you're interested in? I'm doing a decant circle so I'm all set!   Is there anything my mom's etsy shop that you're interested in? I LOVE the shopping bags and project bags but since it's my mom, I just get them from her of course. I keep hinting that she needs to make me a werewolf hat, but I have the pattern.. I suppose I could just make one for myself.   Do you have any upcoming away time I should be aware of, for shipping purposes? Possibly for Thanksgiving week (Mon-Fri), maybe longer. Maybe not at all since the other half freaked out about leaving the house unattended.   Would you like anything from Sock Dreams? They sometimes have cute things that I like. I usually wear capri & sandals (no socks) during the summer and BDU's with black socks and fluevogs/converse/docs during the fall/winter/spring. Sometimes I wear my handknit socks. But I rarely wear shoes that show off socks... I need to get some cute mary janes.   Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. I was gifted little tins of four of the Doctor Who teas last round. And while I will drink them, none really grabbed me and made me drink them every day like the Pumpkin Spice Brulee from Teavana or the Butterscotch tea from Mariage Freres (on my amazon edibles wishlist), the latter of which I'm hoarding for special occasions because it is SO GOOD. I need to contact my friend in Germany and have her send me some more Anise tea too. She sent me a HUGE BOX of tea and I dutifully tried them one by one, and the Anise was the only one I was totally crazy about. I prefer black tea as the base and I love rose, chocolate/fruit (chocolate raspberry, chocolate orange, chocolate strawberry, etc.), pumpkin spice, butterscotch, anise.... for herbal teas I'm totally in love with licorice mint and Aveda's "tea" (which has basil, licorice, and mint.)   Do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? I have a wii (that isn't working very well, I need to upgrade to a wii u), an xbox 360 (which is mostly used for netflix/hbo go right now) and I'd like a ps3 but mostly to watch blu-ray. Most of the games I play are on the PC, which I should change because right now it hurts to sit at the computer but not to sit at the couch. On the PC I have Skyrim (with Dawn Guard), Diablo III, Ultima Online, and a ton of old games that I play with DOS BOX. I loved Infocom Text Adventure games growing up, as well as the Ultima series and then the Sierra On-Line series like King's Quest, Space Quest, Quest for Glory, Gabriel Knight, etc. I love the Zelda games on the wii.. I wish those would come out faster. Once I've finished the game then I don't really want to play again, although I finished Twilight Princess three times I think. Oh! There are a bunch of cool games for the ipad that I'd like -- but I have to upgrade to a better ipad first since I have the original one. pout.   Name three BPAL scents you have tried, but are dying to get more of. Lady of Pain, Brom Bones, The Traveler.   Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? Yes! I'd like the large size of the Honey/Lavender body butter. Everything else is in it's own category on my etsy favorites. I prefer the scrubs over everything else but I would like to try one of the slips in a sample size. Please don't send me soap; I make soap and I have more than I can use.   Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I wish! I used to have 50+ rose bushes that I knew all of the names of, 12 varieties of lavender, multiple varieties of rosemary, thyme, basil, etc. I mostly grow edible things that are also ornamental but I'd like a vegetable garden as well. I'd love to do a knot garden.   Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Yay! Ummm amazon is always awesome. Paintbox Soapworks is always awesome.   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Sadly, no, the winning lottery ticket has not been in my pocket yet.   Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? That's kind of the problem ... if I can't think to get them for myself, then I can't think of them now! er, I could use some salad greens, avocado, pomegranate vinegar, salt grinders (wish I could find my mortar/pestle, it's packed up in the shed somewhere), other salad goodies... but other than the grinders and vinegar, they probably wouldn't travel well. I picked up a bunch of pomegranate seeds (all ready to eat) at costco so I was thinking of making salad with them. I should just snack on them too. Er, um, I'm hungry so I'm thinking of food, um.. three more things.. I can't think of anything that would travel well. bath mats, towel sets, etc. are kind of big and spendy. a BPTP coffee mug? BPTP pens? oh, new ipad/iphone usb cords and a wall plug in charger!   Is there anything from a farmer's market you might like? local honey, dill pickles, rose/lavender/tasty jams or chutneys, umm things that would travel well. Locally I get cheese curds, veggies, fruit, spiced blackberry wine, salad greens, fish, baked things, juice, vinegar, etc.   How do you feel about nail polish? If you like it, are there any brands or colors in which you are interested? I don't wear nail polish although I do wear toenail polish occasionally. Any nail polish would most likely be absconded with by my son or my other half (what? goth boys wear nail polish!) Any polish I get needs to be 3F free (or whatever the new term for it is.)   What about makeup? What brands do you prefer and which products would you most enjoy receiving? I usually only wear prescriptives base/powder so I have to order it online which is a pain. I could use some more eyebrow powder (I apply with a brush) and I could always use new fun eye shadows. I had a whole list on my Amazon site from evilshades but it looks like they went out of business. I like greys, silvers, blacks, dark purples, burgundy. I like them sparkly and shimmery, not matte. (again, I'm 12.)   Are you interested in anything from the Haus of Gloi yule update on November 3rd? Which products and which scents? Me me, pick me! Here's my wish list:   Bubbling Scrub, Emulsifying Scrub, or maybe Pumpkin Butter in: - Snow Wolf - Three Treasures   BUTTERBOMBS: Sugar Cookie Silver Fir Sugar Plum Holy Incense   LIP BALMS: Gingerbread Peppermint Sugar Cookie Brown Sugar & Pear Hot Toddy   If I made fairy, dragon or butterfly wing earrings, would you wear them? If so, which would you prefer? Are they studs? As stated multiple times, I only wear studs or body piercing jewelry. And I only wear sterling, surgical steel, or titanium. I would totally wear dragon stud earrings though.   Is there anything you would like from the Blooddrop Halloween update? dang enablers.   Chai Tea Cold Leather Library Long Black Veil (hopefully the vetiver isn't overpowering) Tabac Wild Myrrh   Lavender Honey flutter Pumpkin & Honey flutter   Roses & Shadows sugar polish   Do you prefer to receive whole coffee beans or ground? Also, if you like flavoured blends, what sort of flavours? (caramels, nuts, chocolate, etc.) I prefer whole beans since you should REALLY use ground beans within a week and you should never ever freeze coffee. But I mostly use my Verismo coffee maker. I do have a coffee grinder and a french press though if you have an absolute FAVORITE coffee that cannot be missed. I do like flavored coffee, I am a HEATHEN. But it must be from a good roaster, none of that mass produced grocery store stuff. I like cinnamon/hazelnut, chocolate, irish cream, chocolate with fruit (chocolate orange, chocolate cherry, chocolate raspberry, etc.), ummm things like that. The best flavored coffee I ever had was in a little hole in the wall coffee shop across from my hotel somewhere in upstate New York when I had to fly there from Denver to train SysOps at our call center. The little cities there were deserted; I swear I was the only person staying in the HUGE awesome hotel. I had a huge suite - like bigger than apartments I've rented - with a kitchen, living room, HUGE freaking bedroom with walk in closed, huge two part bathroom, dining room, reading room. It was freaking cheap too. What is up with places in upstate new york where no one lives anymore? I wanted to move there; there were so many cute shops and awesome fall scenery. Sorry, off on a tangent there.   How do you feel about robots? I'm totally not into robots or automatons. Even if I have read some steampunk.   Do you want to be an early accepter or would you prefer your reveal later in the swap, say maybe closer to the deadline? Whatever works best for my witch is fine!   Are there any GC scents that you love, but for whatever reason, you keep putting off buying bottles of? Well, I keep putting off buying bottles of Druid, Bard, Mr. Prenderghast, Witchblade, Sara Pezzini, Crowley, Aziraphale, The Ifrit, Rat Speakers, Marquis de Carabas, tons more Neil Gaiman scents, more Rogue, Robotic Scarab, London, Spellbound, Hellfire, imps of Vial of Holy Water and Thieves' Rosin .. and that's all I can think of. Plus whatever is on my wishlist.   If your Witch were to create a cookbook of recipes she thought you'd like, would you be interested in that sort of thing? And if so, what sort of recipes would you be interested in? I don't actually cook a lot. I do have a collection of recipes that I absolutely love but.. yeah, rarely do I cook them. The other half asks for my chicken tacos and that's about it. Otherwise he likes grilled meat. I would be interested in really yummy recipes that don't require a ton of prep. And maybe garlic soup.   Would you be interested in getting a kit of sorts to learn how to do a craft or make something, with some basic starter materials and instructions? And if yes, what sorts of things would you be interested in learning? How to do origami, or glass etching, or cross-stitching, or card making, or knitting, or crocheting, or cheese-making, or mushroom growing, or whatever? yes, cross stitch!

Switch Witch Fall 2013 Help #1

Here are some links from my original questionnaire since I know that the long ones can get cut off when copied and pasted.

BPAL wishlist
$10-ish item that I mentioned wanting (15ml bottle of Rainbow Honey's Mare of the Moon nail polish) *EDIT* Oh, and I thought of another thing, that might even be under $10 depending... some good (unpopped/non-microwave) popcorn! I used to have some of the Renaissance-Festival type stuff that pops up really huge and puffy, but ran out of it over the summer and bought a small jar at TJ Maxx or something which was okay, but I'll probably be out of it fairly soon as well. So if you have the hookup for some good popcorn, that'd be great!
I think the amazon wishlist link is actually short enough but here it is anyway
Not going to link to my blog since you're obviously already here.

Warm Pumpkins and Fall Leaves

Favorite colors for something crafted/knitted: Black and jewel tones – dark red and dark green in particular   Colors you absolutely do not want for something crafted/knitted: Pink or pastel colors.   Which fall holiday do you celebrate if any? Halloween, and any other holiday that lets me dress up and mooch candy.   Favorite scent notes: Pumpkin, ginger, citrus, sweet foody scents   Scent notes that you absolutely do not want: Dirt, vetiver   Any food or other allergies? Pets, cigarettes, etc? Pomegranates   Vegan/Vegetarian? Nope   Links to wishlists (amazon, bpal, thinkgeek, etsy, whatever!): http://www.etsy.com/people/DominiquedelMer/favorites/items-i-love/ http://amzn.com/w/1GHCOWHMZDTFH http://tinyurl.com/DomsBPALwishlist   Favorite material types (yarn or other): Silk and cashmere – the very soft, snuggly stuff. Anything that feels soft when nuzzled.   Materials you will never ever want to touch (acrylic yarn, leather, velvet, whatever you have an aversion to.): *shrug* No particular dislikes.   Do you like fingerless mitts? Color? Length? I do! Black is always a good color, as all of my jackets are black. Mid forearm to elbow is a good length. I have several pairs of these that see regular use.   How 'bout scarves and hats? Plain or fancy? Lacey? Color/width/length? Yay for hats and scarves! I like fancy scarves and denser hats - cables and fancy stitches are delightful, so long as the hat is warm. Jewel colors - blood red, evergreen, royal purple and deep blue - and black are always welcome. I like loooooong scarves, but that's a purely stylistic preference.   Can you wear (very soft, fine) wool? Do you prefer not to (for whatever reason)? I can, and do. Very fine wool is lovely.   Top three favorite hot beverages? Be as specific as you like (ie not all hot cocoas are created equal!) My boyfriend makes chai, using spiced black tea as a base. Loose leaf black tea blended with spices, like this are ideal. Part of the fun is seeing how different spice mixtures affect the chai, so if there is a teashop close to you, I'd love a sample of a local blend.   Sweet fruity herbal teas, preferably loose leaf. Berry and citrus notes are always lovely, as are pumpkiny tea.   Flavored cocoa, with a preference for minty or raspberry flavors. If there's a brand that you know is good, I'd love to try some. Glass pendants: Flame colors - reds, oranges and yellows, and vivid blues and greens.   Tell me about one thing you have trouble finding for your favorite fall holiday. Pumpkin jewelry, like this, and fitted black t-shirts with pumpkins, black cats, etc. A while back, I found a black Hello Kitty shirt with the kitty next to a pumpkin, and I haven't been able to find it since.   Any fandoms or favorite shows/movies (even if you're not overly-obsessed)? I like Game of Thrones (the books in particular, but the TV show is fun), Supernatural, Burn Notice and the Avengers. I read a lot, and am fond of Pratchett, Sharon Shinn and the Bolo series started by Keith Laumer. Also, uh, historical nonfiction - big, fat books that go into great detail about European history are awesome.   Are you religious and if so does it influence stuff you like/collect? I'm the boring kind of nondenominational Protestant, but I like Catholic saint medals and rosaries, and collect them when I can.   Commercial candy (premade)? Types, amounts, any other preferences I can't think of? Uh, I'm always a fan of interesting local stuff, and of what you could call novelty chocolate/ Chili-pepper chocolate? Bring it on. Ginger and sesame seed dark chocolate? I want to try some. A while back, I found some cinnamon chocolate that was *amazing*.   Other sorts of commercially-available treats (seasonal or otherwise)? Uh - dried fruit, like dates, or nuts (walnuts! pecans!) always go over well. I bake a lot of bread, so interesting goodies that I can add to bread are welcome. I'm a sucker for truffles, I will admit.   Do you have gift wishlists (Amazon, Etsy, Kaboodle, etc.) that aren't in your signature or profile? I have a profile on Amazon and Etsy that's included in my questionnaire. My blog has all of my questions from my last Switch Witch, so if you have any questions, please, look at my blog.   If your Warmer Upper sent you a tiny bottle of booze, would you report them to the cops or would you high five yourself and drink it? What kind of 'hot' drinks do you like? I don't drink, but flavor extracts, like vanilla, would be cool.   Candles- love'em hate'em what kind do you like? Full Beeswax? scented? If scented what kind? Bring on the fire! I have a number of little lanterns in my bedroom, so scented tea lights would see regular use. If not tea candles, I tend to like the kind that come in little glass jars/containers (I have very, very long hair, so open flame is not my friend.) I love scented candles - pumpkin candles are one of my favorite things about this year. Also, vanilla, or spiced blends. Mmmmm.   How do you feel about pictures, such as photographs you might hang on your wall? If I sent one, would you display it? If it was cool, there's an excellent chance it would go up on my walls. I tend to make great big collages of pictures pulled from National Geographic, well as art I've gotten online. I like vivid colors, Japanese and Chinese calligraphy and traditional art, art noveau, angels and foxes. Lots and lots of love if it's something with kitsune.   Some examples of stuff I like - The Grand Canal by Joseph Turner Adventurers by Norman Rockwell The Accolade by Edmund Blair Leighton My favorite's list, on DeviantArt and just about everything by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law.   Jewelry Prefs? Earrings? Necklaces? Bracelets? Good Lord, yes. I tend towards necklaces - I wear one just about every day. Bracelets and earrings get less use, as I tend towards long sleeves and although I have thirteen ear piercings, I tend to keep the same captive bead rings in and not mess with them. Necklaces and hairsticks see the most use.   Speaking of - hey, Pumpkin, how do you feel about books? Is there any book, series, or genre that you've been reading lately? Booooooks! I've been getting back into Stephen King (appropriate for the upcoming holiday) and I read a lot, mostly fiction, but also with a fondness for historical nonfiction, particularly on medieval Europe through the late Renaissance.   Not just do you like/want books, but oh Punkin, do you have an e-reader/would you like e-books? I have a Nook, and I use the Kindle platform on my cell phone and laptop. Yay for ebooks!   Would you like spooky/thematic books? I'd enjoy them. (Also, I dig cookbooks, so a Halloween/pumpkin cookbook totally counts.) Bring on the horror, the pumpkins and the murder mysteries.   Favorite tree?! Leaf shape! I like peach trees, and citrus in most varieties. Both peach and citrus are similarly shaped, oval with a slight point.   Do you garden? I don't, but my apartment has a balcony and a windowbox, and I've been meaning to start growing some herbs. I have the pots, and the dirt, but no seeds. If you happen to have, oh, basil, or mint or something tasty and difficult to kill, I'd be delighted at the challenge. (Also, I'd send you pictures of the stuff as it grows.)   Hey, Pumpkin - the days are cooling off, do you have a preference for tea/cocoa/arm-warmers/candles? Arm warmers, oh my god. My office is painfully overcooled, so my hands are typically cold. That said, winter is coming, and I like to have a good supply of tea stockpiled for the inevitable February Hacking Cough. Sweet, fruity herbals teas tend to be helpful.   How do you feel about bath products such as soaps, scrubs, shower gels, lotions, etc.? Any preferences (bar soap over liquid soap or shower gels; sugar scrubs over salt scrubs, etc.)? Anything you're trying to avoid? I'm fully stocked with soap at the moment - I have several big bottles of liquid soap, and a ziplock bag full of little soap samples. Scrubs are fun, and I'm running low on lotion at the moment. I have a mild preference for sugar over salt scrub, but it's nothing significant. Mostly, I need lotion at the moment. Villainess has some lovely stuff, and I'm mad about all things pumpkin and sweet smelling.   Let's talk socks. Tall? Short? Fuzzy? Wool? Whimsical? Colors? Any special fit issues? OMG, socks! I am very much a fan of socks. (Regardless of my current weight, or body image, socks are love.) As for what kind of socks I like, the answer is 'yes.' I like thigh-highs, and ankle-highs and knees highs, stripes and pictures and fat fuzzy fluffballs. Also, here's my SockDreams wishlist.   What's your Fall holiday decorating/accessories style? Cute little ghosties, baby witches, and happy faced pumpkins? Natural, with cornucopias and arrangements of gourds, pumpkins, corn, etc.? Sort of rustic or country? Classic bats and ghosts and skeletons and monsters? Total kitsch? Blood and gore and prop dismembered limbs? I like vivid colors and cute things. I don't have any window-clings, but they'd be awesome, and I can put them in the bathroom, and in the windowbox. Cute pumpkins, leaves, maybe a couple of really adorable bats. I tell horror stories, but I don't tend toward creepy decorations.   Would you, my dear little pumpkin, like something from the Mütter Museum? Their book selection - particularly on forensics and pathology - looks fascinating!   Do you like real maple syrup? How would you feel about real homemade maple syrup made from trees mere feet from my front door? That would be delicious. I'd love to try some.

From: Harvest Moon 2013

Oh dear, I should have learned my lesson about this kind of blend from Two, Five and Seven, but what with the gorgeous artwork and lovely poem and me being a rose fiend, I was smitten. This just didn't work on me, and it's due to my amping green notes and turning them into bitter bitterness. SIGH.   (I know we don't buy the bottles for the labels but seriously this is just one beautiful design, down to the lettering.)   In the bottle: A very sharp green sort of chemical smell. Uh-oh.   Wet: A very very GREEN note. Husband said I smelled like celery. Husband was invited to revise his opinion. Repeatedly. He never did. I didn't smell celery myself, and thought at first the smell was a bit pretty, but on me it's definitely some kind of tangy green leaf with a sweet undertone. No red, no dry leaves, not really even any rose, other than a mild sweetness.   Drydown: The celery? note died down a bit (Husband: "Some") and the blend got sweeter, but more like generic flowery perfume, not red roses. After a while it was sweet powder underneath a green note. It's pretty strong and has a lot of throw, and lasted a long while, but on me this was not a good thing.   Verdict: I'm going to let this one age a while in the hope the dry leaf will come out and the green subside, at least a little bit. I love autumn, and roses, and this sounds like such a beautiful scent (on people whose skin doesn't hate grass. Damn).   Source: Harvest Moon 2013

2013 Fall Swap

1. Do you like fingerless mitts? Color? Length? Not really. My fingers are usually what's coldest, so if I'm wearing mittens or gloves, I want my fingers covered. I have someawesomely warm, flexible gloves that work with smartphone screens, too, so I don't really need anything new for my hands.     2. How 'bout scarves and hats? Plain or fancy? Lacey? Color/width/length? I do, however, LOVE scarves and hats. Plain works fine. If there's a fringe, I like fringe better on scarves than on hats. Unsure about lacey. I kinda like the look of infinity scarves, but I haven't tried wearing one myself, so I don't know how they'd do for me. Colors: I usually prefer jewel tones, but honestly, just about anything except neon shades of any color. I like blues, purples, greens, reds, earth tones, darker oranges, warm yellows, rosy pinks...as long as it doesn't glow in the dark, I'll probably love it.     3. Can you wear (very soft, fine) wool? Do you prefer not to (for whatever reason)? As far as I know, I can wear wool, but I can't remember if I actually HAVE worn wool in anything before (surely I have...), so I'm a little uncertain. But soft, fine wool sounds just fine, and I'd happily try it on and hope for the best.     4. Top three favorite hot beverages? Be as specific as you like (ie not all hot cocoas are created equal!) Spicy hot chocolate is the best hot beverage ever. Spicy as in cinnamon, not chili peppers. When all I have is Swiss Miss, I'll sprinkle in some of our good cinnamon. That makes it so much better. I like the individual serving packets of (can't remember the brand!) hot cocoa, too, and usually get chocolate caramel or mint chocolate from those. I've tried making cocoa from scratch and just can't make it taste good (yes, I'm pitiful like that ). I also drink coffee and have a Keurig. I don't expect you to send a box of K-cups, though, so if you do something coffee-related, maybe a non-refrigerated seasonally flavored creamer or syrup to go in it? Or a gift card for a coffee shop. I like chai tea lattes. I'm not crazy about tea in general, but I like the spices of chai.     5. Tell me about one thing you have trouble finding for your favorite fall holiday. Uhhhh. I don't know. Affordable decorations? Most of what I see are way more expensive than I'm willing to pay, especially since when I do break down and buy them anyway, they break during the first season of use. When I pulled out my Halloween stuff this year, I realized that I hardly have anything I can really use. Most of what I have left are fragile candle holders that I don't want sitting around with two crazy kids throwing balls and blocks all over the house.   Glass pendants: I don't wear much jewelry, and I tend to be rough on what I do wear. A glass pendant would be treasured but rarely worn for fear of breaking it.   Any fandoms or favourite shows/movies (even if you're not overly-obsessed)? Stargate SG1, Doctor Who, Firefly, Teen Titans, Full Metal Alchemist, The Avengers, Harry Potter (go Ravenclaw!), The Big Bang Theory, Eureka, Jane Eyre (Charlotte Gainsborough version is favorite, others are acceptable), Scooby Doo   Religious?   I've grown up in the Presbyterian Church, so I do consider myself Christian, but it doesn't affect stuff I collect beyond the point of no "I heart Satan" types of things.   Commercial candy? Commercial treats?   Snickers, anything with chocolate & peanut butter, Almond Joy, Newman's Own Organics mocha milk chocolate bars, Sconza Lemoncello Almonds, Brookside Dark Chocolate Pomegranate   Wishlists?   Linked in my signature. The top post of my wishlist blog has links to my Amazon and Think Geek wishlists.   Booze?   BOOZE ME UP, SCOTTY. I mean, that'd be lovely, thank you.   Candles?   Love 'em, but I tend not to burn them often because my kids are very devious about using long-sticked cleaning tools to reach way up high and knock stuff over. Tarts/wax melts are safer and get used more often. I don't particularly care if it's full beeswax, soy, whatever. I tend to prefer more foody stuff for home scents.   Random scent preference note: I forgot to include honeysuckle in my ?aire. LOVE the smell of honeysuckle. It's not really seasonally appropriate, but I though I'd mention it just in case.   Jewelry: no earrings. Bracelets would be OK. I'm most likely to wear a necklace. Silver/white gold is strongly preferred, although bronze can be beautiful as well. I mainly just don't wear yellow gold.   Pictures for my wall: I have pictures, paintings, and photographs galore stuffed in a closet that I've been wanting to hang up since we moved into this house. That was SIX YEARS AGO. So as much as I'd love a photograph from you, it probably won't get displayed in my house for at least another six years.   Speaking of - hey, Pumpkin, how do you feel about books? Is there any book, series, or genre that you've been reading lately? LOVE BOOKS. I'm currently reading the second in the Rai-Kirah trilogy by Carol Berg. I usually read fantasy, especially urban fantasy/paranormal, but I also like science fiction and...umm...well, other varieties of fantasy, such as historical fantasy/alternate timeline "what if this had happened like this instead" type books. I also greatly love cookbooks, so something with Halloween recipes or pumpkin recipes would be lovely and suitable.     Not just do you like/want books, but oh Punkin, do you have an e-reader/would you like e-books? I have a Kindle and frequently use it or the Kindle app on my phone to read e-books. E-books are usually easier for me to deal with than physical books, so I slightly prefer them, but I'd be delighted with a physical book, too.     Would you like spooky/thematic books? Sure!   Favorite tree?! Leaf shape! I love birch trees. No particular favorite leaf shape.     Do you garden? No. I kill all living things that can't make noise to remind me to feed/water them.   Hey, Pumpkin - the days are cooling off, do you have a preference for tea/cocoa/arm-warmers/candles? Cocoa over tea for sure, candles or tarts would be fabulous, indifferent to arm-warmers.   How do you feel about bath products such as soaps, scrubs, shower gels, lotions, etc.? Any preferences (bar soap over liquid soap or shower gels; sugar scrubs over salt scrubs, etc.)? Anything you're trying to avoid?   I love bar soaps that aren't Dial, Irish Spring, etc. I like shower gels. I have quite a bit of both bar soaps and shower gels that I'm trying to work through, but I DEFINITELY wouldn't say no to getting more! I love sugar scrubs, especially Wylde Ivy's. It's been a long time since I've tried Villainess, but I don't remember loving whatever ones I tried. Bath & Body Works's sugar scrubs are way too oily. That's about all I can think of sugar scrub-wise to give you an idea of what I like texture-wise. Salt scrubs are okay, and coffee scrubs are not good in my bathtub's drain. As for lotions, I tend to prefer rich, thick body creams over thinner lotions, but if it moisturizes well I'll try it. I have pretty dry skin that is already getting worse with the cooler weather, so lotion (HAND CREAM!) is good.   Socks: My calves don't like tall socks, as much as I wish they would. I usually wear ankle height but would be happy with other heights, just, y'know, not up to or past my knees unless they're specially made for big calves. Other than that, anything goes. I like my socks in all colors, patterns, levels of fuzziness, and fabrics. I like toe socks and regular socks. I like solid color socks, and I like polka dot socks with words on them, and I like character design socks, and I like...well. Pretty much, I like socks. I seem to go cutesy more than scary. No blood or gore, please. Not terribly interested in cornucopias, but gourds and fall leaves are certainly nice enough and can usually stay out all autumn instead of being put away immediately following Halloween. Rustic or country decorations are just fine. Currently I have a bunch of ceramic jack-o-lanterns with varying facial expressions, some cute witches and black cats, some cute witchy boots that are supposed to hold long candle tapers, some wooden witchy signs outside, and some window clings featuring classic Halloween bats, cats, and ghosts, and Scooby Doo window clings. You know what I'd love? Some cutesy owl stuff. Every time I go shopping, I see more and more adorable owl stuff, and the Halloween owls I've seen are so freaking cute it kills me. I just haven't bought any of them yet. I need to start an owl collection. Would an owly thing count as the leaf item, what with owls perching in trees where there just happen to be leaves...?

Warm Pumpkins & Fall Leaves swap answers

Do you like fingerless mitts? Color? Length? I would love fingerless mitts or gloves! My hands are always freezing at work. I've been so desperate in the past that I just cut the fingertips off of an ordinary pair of black gloves, but they're unraveling badly by now, so I don't think they'll last much longer. Colour-wise, black is always good, but I'm up for most other colours as well. Length-wise, maybe to the wrist or a little bit past - when it's cold I wear long sleeves, so no need for mitts to go much past the wrist.   How 'bout scarves and hats? Plain or fancy? Lacey? Color/width/length? I actually already have a bunch of scarves that I've gotten as gifts, and I hardly ever wear scarves. I never wear hats.   Can you wear (very soft, fine) wool? Do you prefer not to (for whatever reason)? I don't see any reason why not, although I can't remember ever trying.   Top three favorite hot beverages? Be as specific as you like (ie not all hot cocoas are created equal!) 1. Hot chocolate, especially cinnamon or spicy. Mint is good too, and lately I've been liking white chocolate. I'll try any, from the Land o' Lakes single serve packets to "fancy" make with milk (instead of water) blends. 2. Tea. My three favourites are Republic of Tea's Cardamon Cinnamon; Stash's Mojito Mint green tea; and ginger tea - either Triple Leaf Tea's Ginger with 100% ginger root or Lipton's Ginger Twist, depending on my mood. 3. Hot spiced cider. I have some Aseltines apple cider spices for hot mulled cider in tea bags that I love, but sadly haven't been able to find any more in the past few years.   Tell me about one thing you have trouble finding for your favorite fall holiday. Nothing! I have the opposite problem - I find way too much! I love bats, so this time of year the stores are filled with temptation.   Glass pendants - any particular themes? Something Halloween-y would be nice. I'm a sucker for anything with bats, especially. I also like dichroic glass.   Any fandoms or favourite shows/movies (even if you're not overly-obsessed)? Since I cancelled my DirecTV a couple of years ago and never replaced it with anything, I've sort of lost track of what's currently on. I just re-watched season 7 of Supernatural after getting it from the library, and I'm on the waitlist for season 8. As long as they keep Dean around, I expect that I'll keep watching to the bitter end. Eternal favourites are Mystery Science Theater 3000 and the Real Ghostbusters (yep, a puppet show and a cartoon - I'm so sophisticated! ). Music-wise, I worship Marc Almond. I also love Leonard Cohen, Gene Pitney, Senses Fail, and Motion City Soundtrack, among many others. Favourite movies are The Unbelievable Truth, Trust, and Amateur, all by Hal Hartley, and I also have a fondness for old horror movies (Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, etc.).   Are you religious and if so does it influence stuff you like/collect? No, I'm not, and I tend to avoid the standard Christian imagery. I probably wouldn't have a problem with stuff from other religions outside of my own background, but I was raised Catholic, and I'd rather not have Christian symbols and such around me any more.   Commercial candy (premade)? Types, amounts, any other preferences I can't think of? My Halloween favourites are the Reese's peanut butter pumpkins and the Brach's (I think) caramel apple candy corn. I'm also a big fan of Smarties and SweeTarts and such. One thing I love that I haven't been able to find in stores around here are the C. Howard's spearmint candies. I also love Fannie May candy, but they don't have any stores in this state anymore, so I'd be excited to get one of their candy bars or some Halloween chocolate.   Other sorts of commercially-available treats (seasonal or otherwise)? I seem to be eating a lot of popcorn lately, so a flavored popcorn (white cheddar, kettle corn, cinnamon sugar, chocolate-covered, etc.) would be quite nice.   Do you have gift wishlists (Amazon, Etsy, Kaboodle, etc.) that aren't in your signature or profile? They're all in my sig.   If your Warmer Upper sent you a tiny bottle of booze, would you report them to the cops or would you high five yourself and drink it? What kind of 'hot' drinks do you like? High five! I'd be very happy to get booze! Aside from beer and wine, I mostly drink flavoured vodkas and schnapps and such, including spearmint schnapps, ginger brandy, cinnamon infused vodka, Kinky, etc., but I'll try anything!   Not sure if this has been asked BUT candles - love'em hate'em what kind do you like? Full Beeswax? scented? if scented what flavor? I like beeswax best, but if it's a nice scent, I'll take any kind. Favourite candle scents include cinnamon, clove, and mulberry - I also love Bath & Body Works' Marshmallow Fireside, but I'm pretty well stocked up on that one, so I include it just to give you an idea of what I like.   How do you feel about pictures, such as photographs you might hang on your wall? If I sent one, would you display it? I love pictures, to the point where I have scads of unhung pictures and posters stored or even just spread out on my library floor because I've run out of places to hang them. So, regrettably, if you sent one, I'd enjoy it, but I probably wouldn't have a place to display it.   Jewelry Prefs? Earrings? Necklaces? Bracelets? Necklaces, mostly. I don't wear earrings at all, and although I like bracelets, I seldom wear them, because they get in the way of my typing at work.   Speaking of - hey, Pumpkin, how do you feel about books? Is there any book, series, or genre that you've been reading lately? Love books! Lately I've been reading almost entirely manga. My latest obsession is the series Adekan, which I've been reading in unauthorized translation at MangaPark (http://www.mangapark.com/manga/Adekan/). It's not been officially published in English, so I've actually gone ahead and bought the German translations instead. My German isn't good enough anymore to just sit down and read them, so I'm sure it will be slow going, but at least I can enjoy the art while I'm slowly working my way through the words! (Now if only I could find some English fanfiction for it! I'm so used to hitting up fanfiction.net to see other people's takes on the characters if I really like a series, but the only fanfiction I could find for this series was in French! Or was it Italian? I don't even remember - all I remember is the disappointment. ) I'm also currently reading Library Wars, Oresama Teacher, Kamisama Kiss, and His Favorite, to name a few series, and I'm always on the lookout for more. And now that we're into October, I'm also looking to pick up some more seasonal things - my thoughts are turning to spooky stories!   Not just do you like/want books, but oh Punkin, do you have an e-reader/would you like e-books? I don't have an e-reader.   Would you like spooky/thematic books? Absolutely!   Favorite tree?! Leaf shape! I've never actually given it much thought. I wouldn't even know where to start on leaf shapes - almost all of them are pretty this time of year with all the beautiful colours!   Do you garden? No, unfortunately I have a black thumb. The only things growing in my yard other than the weeds are plants that have survived through sheer force of will. I wish I were the kind of person who could grow a fabulous garden, but I'm just not.   Hey, Pumpkin - the days are cooling off, do you have a preference for tea/cocoa/arm-warmers/candles? Cocoa over tea, for starters. Maybe not so much arm-warmers as fingerless gloves - the latter would be fantastic! Candles are wonderful, but I have so many already that they're not as much of a priority, although I certainly wouldn't be unhappy at all to get more!   How do you feel about bath products such as soaps, scrubs, shower gels, lotions, etc.? Any preferences (bar soap over liquid soap or shower gels; sugar scrubs over salt scrubs, etc.)? Anything you're trying to avoid? I can never get enough bar soap, although I tend to avoid the glycerin ones. Shower gels are nice, and I like the less oily scrubs - Villainess' Smacks are about the perfect consistency for me. I almost never use lotions. And I know it's the seasonal thing, but I really don't like strong pumpkin scents.   Let's talk socks. Tall? Short? Fuzzy? Wool? Whimsical? Colors? Any special fit issues? Socks are great! Crew length are probably my most worn, but I'm good with knee highs and ankle socks as well. I love bamboo blend socks in particular, but pretty much any kind of sock works for me. Patterns are fun, pretty much any color is fun, Halloween socks are extra fun, and Halloween socks that have either bats or Hello Kitty on them are extra super duper fun! I'm sort of everyday goth-light, in that I tend to buy "Halloween" things that I then use all year round. Halloween purchases that have taken up year-round residence in my home include an orange and black doormat with bats, a black feather wreath, shot glasses with ravens and skulls and such, a small vulture figure that perches above my tv, black candleholders with webs and dangling spider, Skelanimals clings on my windows, etc. When it comes to decorating for the holiday, I love most classic Halloween themes: ghosts, skeletons and skulls, jack o' lanterns, witches (more the elegant than the ugly), ravens and crows, and bats, always bats! Cute spiders or spider shapes are fine, but I don't really like realistic spiders, and no scorpions or other creepy crawlers!

Chilly/white/creamy/snow/flower scents usually aren't my thing, but I got this as part of a Yule set last year. 2012 version.   In the bottle: YO peppermint and vanilla. Smells a bit like a milkshake.   Wet: oh my God, the dread Play-Do smell, and I get a whiff of cat pee undertone - husband didn't smell it, though.   Drydown: The Play-Do smell receded, and I got a little bit of fake coconut and pineapple, but then the Play-Do came back again. A really synthetic, doughy, sorta-sweet chemical smell.   Verdict: Total miss.   Source: Snow White

Roman apple festival! I love BPAL apple notes, I love Rome. 2012 version.   In the bottle: Artificial fruit candy. Woe.   Wet: Artifical fruity candy smell with chemical undertones. Woe squared. Husband: "You smell like cherry-orange-lemon Lifesavers in the pack." No berries, juices, blossoms or nuts, either, unless the nuts are causing the chemical smell. I don't get the nail-polish acetone smell, just something really....candied and fake. To me it smells like air freshener.   Drydown: Candy-scented air freshener with a chemical aftertaste. Ack! This also fades very quickly, which might be a good thing for me.   Source: Pomona

I had a small imp of this for a while which I wore sparingly, was really sad I didn't snag a bottle before it was discontinued, and finally got my muddy little paws on one recently, years after first trying it. It was a bit surprising in the bottle!   In the bottle: Chemical sweet cherry medicinal kiddie cough syrup. Yargh.   Wet: A sweet, yet musky, fruit smell -- with a little bit of spice. No idea what that's from. I don't actually smell pomegranate, which my skin amps like it's my job. Definitely dark fruits: plums, berries, maybe blackberries, cherries? dark grapes? Maybe cranberries and raspberries. A lot more spicy and musky than I was expecting.   Drydown: What the hell, I keep smelling something like PEPPER. Husband said he didn't think it was peppery but could see how I thought it was (what?) - more "spicy." Maybe this has cloves in it, because whenever I wear the BPAL clove note I turn into a kitchen cupboard. The musky amber/incense is really a nice combination with the fruit, though.   Hours later: I don't get the amber-to-powder, thank goodness. The scent gets a lot sweeter, the peppery note disappears (HUZZAH). Still a bit incensey. This really is a sort of dark, sweet, smokey autumnal smell -- if it were a colour it'd be a sort of deep glowing burgundy, like wine in a glass. It does fade fairly quickly, but it's really nice. As someone else said, this is the Iron Queen, not the flower-gathering girl. The resin/sandalwood/incense/musk/whateveritis (so not a perfume buff) gives it real maturity and depth. It's not quite sad - it reminds me of the last stanza of Keats' "To Autumn": Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they? Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,— While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day, And touch the stubble plains with rosy hue; Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn Among the river sallows, borne aloft Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies; And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn; Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft; And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.   Source: Hymn to Proserpine

Bought a bottle of this at the late, beloved, lost BedlamBedlam (GOD I miss that store, it was like two blocks away from my house).   In the bottle: A very weird sort of chemical cherry cough syrup. Eek....   Wet: Blast of honey at first! Thankfully, that settles down. Also, a bit of licorice, which on me is probably the clove. I don't get much wine, or vanilla. I do smell a bit of the musk. This is a sweet, dark blend with bite -- maybe that's the vetiver, which ordinarily I don't like, but I think the wine and honey and vanilla and other sweet notes are stomping it down. This perfume is very mature, subtle, rich but not overpowering -- it seems very well-blended, or at least it's behaving that way on my skin. It's a kind of date-and-dinner-out, winter evening, grown woman perfume. Maybe a little more dark and musky, and less fruity, than I usually like, but it's good. It would go great with FMP and an LBD. I feel underdressed wearing it in jeans and a sweatshirt!   Drydown: Wow, this has real staying power....hours later, and after a walk during which I got rained on, it's still pretty strong, and hasn't morphed a lot. Maybe it's gotten a little sweeter. Not quite my thing, but it's a really interesting mix of sweet and musky with a little edge.   Source: Blood Kiss

Still searching for my perfect BPAL lavender (my favourite scent) and yeah, this ain't it (I have TKO, but haven't tried it yet, LOVE Erebos - if only it came in oil form!).   Diabolus: A classic Victorian men's cologne: a lavender fougere, with hints of lilac, lime, and citrus musk. In the imp: Very faint overall, and a very faint lavender smell, muted by some sort-of flowery, clean, fresh, watery smells. This smells very fresh and springlike to me, not villainous, but not that girlish, either. It's sort of neutral.   Wet: Lavender, but again, it's kind of masked by the other notes -- I'm guessing the lime and citrus, because I amp those like crazy. Apparently a fougére is kind of woodsy, or herbal? I'm definitely getting that here, although it's not very green. It doesn't smell much like men's cologne to me, either. Almost soapy, but not quite.   Drydown: I'm not getting the shaving cream feel some other people did, but it's close; there's definitely that sharp, clean, just-washed-your-hands toiletries smell. The lavender is struggling through a bit more, but it's more like lather from soap which contains lavender, or something. It's not one of the high white sharp aquatic/florals that gives me a headache, but this is so not for me.   Verdict: Keeping the frimp (thanks Lab!), but really not for me. It also wore off very quickly.     Husbandly opinion: "It smells nice. Kind of powdery. No, not really sweet. Not flowery, not fruity. I can see how some people might think it would smell like shaving cream or soap."   Source: Villain

Halloween Book Swap

Do you journal? Do you need a journal? Would you like a Halloween or Autumn themed journal? I don't journal, but I love pretty notebooks and would love to have a Halloween/Autumn one.   Would you use a cookbook? if so, what themes? I would! I would love to get one focused on japanese or chinese food, and I also really enjoy baking.   Are there any thematically appropriate books/writers/genres that you've been looking to explore that have not made it into your answers yet? How about new releases you're looking forward to? I just found a book that I would really love to read - The Price of Fear: The Film Career of Vincent Price, In His Own Words by Joel Eisner.   Weenies? I signed up for some decants, but some scents that I'm not getting but am still interested in trying are: Alice in the Pumpkin Patch Achluphobia Ooky Haunted Houses Autumn Fancies   Free e-books? I don't have a reader, but if I'm able to read it on my computer, sure!   How do you feel about...   Used books? - As long as the book is in good condition, I'm happy Books in a series? - I'm always looking for a new series to start Graphic novels? - I'm actually looking for Witchblade Short story anthologies? - Yes Poetry, plays, things that aren't novels? I actually am interested in reading more poetry; I also really enjoy a lot of non-fiction that usually focuses on the social sciences

13 Nights of Halloween Q&A

Are there any animals, birds or bugs that you don't like, scare you, or just plain freak you out? I don't mind fake spiders but anything with more than eight legs is definitely out. Actually, come to think on it anything with more than four legs other than spiders, scorpions, and butterflies is right out for me     Who likes to write with fountain pens? Do you have a preferred type of pen? I looooove pens. Actually I'm pretty sure I have three bottles full of fountain pen cartridges and no pen to use them with.     As for cell phone stuff, I'm pretty well set. I got a new phone this summer and the first thing I did was buy a bunch of stuff for it     Edit: What kind of tea do you like? Loose leaf is the best! I love black, oolong, and pu'erh. No Earl Grey however     Do you have any favorite Halloween/fall-theme animals? Ravens and cats, definitely.       ^ This. Totally this ^   New (Weird) Question: I do a lot of resin work, specifically, insects in resin. Would receiving one be horrifying? Okay? Interesting? It would depend entirely upon the insect. I'm ok with butterflies/moths and some beetles have gorgeous colors.     Are there any other perfume, or bath & body companies that you would like to try? Any that you have tried & would like more of? Or any you have tried, but don't want more of? Villainess. I love her ampule-shaped bottles     Are there food items that you adore, or have tried once, that you can't get where you are now, but would love to eat again? none that I can think of.     I know we had a question about mix cds in the q'aire, but if you answered yes to a homemade cd, would you be interested in a themed mix? Such as Halloween classics, or dark and stormy classical, etc. and so forth? Oooooo! That would be fun!     How sick a sense of humour can you cope with? Not my thing     If I were going to make you a polymer figurine-or-pendant-or-earrings-or-..., is there any particular thing you'd like more than other things(ex: a tiny 'you', or witch's hat earrings, or a ghost pendant, etc.)? Dragons, fairies, otters, mini TEA POTS/CUPS     Would you be interested in a handwritten journal that had stuff for and about you(no, not stalker notations); for example, things about your astrological sign, or birthday, or year you were born or recipes or poetry or pictures? Like, a book that you could read, that was assembled just for you(in my sort of sloppy, lefthanded writing[i will write in print, not cursive, so you can still read it]) It's a lovely idea, but probably not something I'd use often.     Are there any candies in particular you'd like to try? Or that you just can't get enough of? Quality chocolate bars with bits of/flavored like raspberry, strawberry, orange, spices, tea     Are there any candies you can't stand, and don't want to see in your box? black licorice, caramel (though my husband would love it ), anything with nuts or coconut.     List 5 or 6 TV shows/Movies that you enjoy watching (and possible villains, if you can think of any): Disney's Alice in Wonderland, the live version. Hello Dolly! 1776 Howl's Moving Castle Ever After The Three Musketeers - I like just about every version Red The Hunt for Red October   Villains: Cardinal Richelieu from The Three Musketeers     Decorations: can you have them at your desk at work (assuming you have a desk at work) and would you like some? My job is seasonal and we close before Halloween so decorations wouldn't do any good     Are there any books or short stories (or poems) you especially associate with this time of year or always want to reread in autumn? Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven. Actually, just about anything by Poe. I've always meant to read some of Lovecraft's stories as well.     How do you feel about skulls? I have no problems with skulls. I find bird skulls to be especially beautiful.     Do you like plushies? Yeeeeeessss   Lip balm: tin or tube? Either   Do you or would you burn incense? What kind? Nope   How about scented (or unscented) candles? We only use candles during power outages   Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else? Physical is preferred, definitely   Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics? I love manga, not really into American style comics though.     Jewelry: Gold or Silver? Anything as long as there is no nickel and no copper for rings.     Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there). Sure!     Would you like some home...made(?) fall pictures or photos to frame or put in a photobook? I will stalk the toads in my yard for you! Any particular things you'd enjoy photos of? I love photos of dew-covered spiderwebs.     Are there any things (characters, bad guys, halloween-related-things, fandoms, etc) you absolutely can not stand or don't want in your goodies? Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey, sports teams, and items of that ilk. I don't watch Dr Who so don't bother with items from that either, not because I don't like them, just because I wouldn't understand or appreciate them as they deserve.     Anything from the update strike your fancy? Butterflies, Flowers, and Jewels Attending; Little Pythia; and Lilith's Feel Better Flowers     Is there anyone else in your household that would appreciate a little extra included for them(pets, children, spouse, SO, house spirits, etc.)? This is also known as 'Do I need to send two bags of caramel apple Milky way; one for you and one for you...to share with other people?' Also, this would be considered an extra, and not necessarily part of the 13 gifts. I have two kids (one girl, one boy) who are horrible moochers of candies, treats, and stickers.     Do the mp3 player/radio station thing!(optional, just because I always like this question ) How about I just tell you the last few CD's I've listened to instead - Abney Park, Brave Soundtrack, Steampowered Giraffe, Trans-Siberian Orchestra     I know we had a question about getting into new hobbies/crafts already, but is there anything else you've always meant or wanted to learn about/learn more about but haven't got around to getting a book on or watching a show about it? I actually just joined the SCA and am planning on starting medieval soap-making >.>     Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Yay! Etsy is always a good choice     Are there hot drinks that you like this time of year? If so, what would you like? Tea (mostly loose-leaf), and I start drinking more spiced apple cider also.     Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Zoya Pixie Dust polishes     How about homemade infused vodkas? We have quite the alcohol collection right now already since we started making wines this year     Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? Round cotton pads for makeup/polish removal, super glue, fun bandaids (mustache designs and such),     If you are my trick or treater, would you be delighted by some cool Halloween fabric or would you wonder if I'd lost my mind? I love fabric but I have so many fabric projects that I've had sitting around (some for years) that I've never even touched, I doubt I'd actually be able to do anything with it.     What ONE non-discontinued GC scent do you absolutely love, but for whatever reason, haven't yet purchased a bottle for yourself? Obsidian Widow     Decorative box (not bigger than say, a cigar type box) - yea or nay? Ooooooo, yes please! Especially if it looks vintage     On a scale from horrified to enraptured, how do you feel about this fabric? (ETA: if it were to be, say, a bag? >.> ) No thank you     Kitchen stuff? Say spatulas with skulls on or an apron with a Halloween theme I live in the same house as my mother in law, that wouldn't go over very well I think     A Game of Thrones: are you a fan of the TV series? Have you read the books or would you want to? (Me, I've read some of the books, own them, and am not really interested in the show.)   Would you like any home made jams? I can guarantee they are very yummy. (And we have a ton of our own so I don't really need any more . . . unless it's raspberry something, or tea jelly, I still haven't gotten around to making a tea jelly)

This is HALLOWEEN...BOOK SWAP Questions

What's the one book you've always wanted but have never been able to find? Mine is an unrevised edition (meaning pre 1977, I believe) of John Fowles' The Magus. It's probably my favourite book ever, and I've always wanted to read the unrevised edition to make a comparison between the two, plus it would give me the opportunity to say that I've read it.   Do you have any wishlists you'd like to link to (Goodreads "To Read" shelf, Etsy, Amazon, etc.)? I have an etsy wishlist (it's in my sig) but no other ones. I love books in general and will pretty much read anything. One thing that I've been thinking about it Stephen King and Lovecraft. I've never read much horro, but I'm open to it and those authors both have such a large catalogue I don't even know where to start.   Coffee? Hot chocolate? Tea? Hate coffee, but LOVE tea and hot chocolate. I mainly stick with black and chai teas recently but I do love a good green as well. I love flavoured tea, both fruits and other sweet flavours.   Do you collect anything in particular? Other than books - I collect Doctor Who things and other nerdy elements as I'm going to move out of my parents house next year for grad school so I get to decorate my place in the nerdiest way possible.     What's your fall/Halloween decorating style? Non-existent. I since I live with my parents and my mother hates holidays (particularly Halloween) we don't really decorate.   What's your fall holiday of choice? My birthday!!!! Just kidding (well mostly), but I actually love Halloween! And I have a particular fondness for Thanksgiving (in October for us Canadians) because that means we get to have a bunch of family friends over for dinner and a great time!   I have another question: would you welcome books written in languages other than English? If so, which languages?   I'm a heathen and only speak english with a grade 12 level of french, but much prefer english please.   Do you have a Halloween costume that you need anything for? No plans for dressing up this year. It's not allowed at work nor do I usually go out. I usually end up staying home watching something like Rocky Horror or Carrie.   Is there anything traditionally associated with Autumn/Halloween that you absolutely DO NOT LOVE? (A scent, a flavor, a symbol, etc) Spiders - hate them. Actually more like terrified of them, but only realistic ones. Cartoony ones I just don't really enjoy.   Do you journal? Do you need a journal? Would you like a Halloween or Autumn themed journal? I love journaling, well not love necessarily, but I use it to process things and work through depression. Autumn themed would be preferable to halloween, because Autumn is my favourite season (night time autumn with a full moon would be especially awesome).   would you use a cookbook? if so, what themes? I would. Nerdy themed ones are always good. My dad is celiac so anything gluten free is also fantastic. I don't cook that much myself, but I love to bake so those are usually more in my wheelhouse.   Are there any thematically appropriate books/writers/genres that you've been looking to explore that have not made it into your answers yet? How about new releases you're looking forward to? I mentioned venturing into horror earlier, but other than that I don't have another specific genre I would like to explore. I'm open to most things.   New releases I'm excited about - Alligent by Veronica Roth and the new Bridget Jones (although I'll borrow that from work as I don't need to own it).   First off...YAY BOOKWORM!!!!! You are awesome!!!!   Weenies: I didn't wait - I knew what I wanted and made an order this morning. I haven't made a lab order in more than a year, so I felt now was the time since the Anne of Green Gables (my sister in literature - seriously one of the greatest connections I've had to a character ever) scent was released. I'm good with weenies now between A world with Octobers and Mictecacihuatl - and I tacked on bottles of Little Pythia, which sounds FANTASTIC, R'yleh, which I've been meaning to pick up for ages, Harvest Moon 2010, which sounds amazing, Lyonesse, which I've never tried and Jareth which I've also never tried.   Free e-books? I'd love them, I only have a few e-books (seriously less than 10) so any new ones are good with me   Used books? - Bring em on! Books in a series? - Feel free to start me on a new series, or continue me on one I am working on. If it is a new series, book one please! (this is stolen from vanillabean, but fits me perfectly) Graphic novels? - I quite like them. I have all the serenity ones, and a new star wars omnibus. I'm definitely open to more - literary graphic novels are apparently fantastic so I'm nerdy enough that I'm down for that. Short story anthologies? - Sure! Poetry, plays, things that aren't novels? - I do not get along well with poetry unless it is set to music so I definitely prefer novels and graphic novels.   Edward Gorey? I'm not terribly familiar.   Holiday craft related books? I don't really make my crafts holiday themed so not particularly useful.   Halloweenie or fall jewelry? Yes, no, what kind, preferred themes? (note: or if not Halloween or fall, maybe related to your collections or wishlists?) I like autumn themed things like leaves or feathers. Lots of elements and artifacts items are something I would wear for a point of inspiration. I don't really do bracelets on the whole and I can't wear earrings because my ears swell, but rings and necklaces are fine by me   What is a book or series that you can re-read over and over again? I've already mentioned the Magus, but I'll add Anne of Green Gables, Harry Potter and the Mists of Avalon.   Favourite Halloween/Horror Movies and/or Characters? Are you a Freddy Kreuger fan? Jason? Michael Meyers? Amityville Horror? I'm not a huge horror fan, but I love Rocky Horror, Carrie, the Nightmare Before Christmas, Buffy, and Practical Magic.   No to all the listed characters.   Bath and Body Works? I'm ambivalent to most BBW. I love the lavender vanilla sleep line (I've got lots of the pillow spray though) and the energy line as well.

13 Nights of Halloween Help!

Do you or would you burn incense? What kind? Nope. Incense=church     How about scented (or unscented) candles? YAY! I take all kinds of candles!     Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else? Physical books are best. I don't have an e-reader and I'm not willing to sit at the computer to read.     Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics? I am! I haven't read many of them, I have most of Sandman, and I have the Wash comic from Firefly.     Jewelry: Gold or Silver? I do tend to grab more silvers, but I wouldn't mind getting a bit more gold stuff. I don't have much of it, and sometimes gold is more matching, if I'm feeling matchy.     Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there). Sure! I don't usually wear the nail wraps-I tend to chip the polish within two days of putting it on. Sometimes even the same day. My work is very hard on my nails. But, I would use the wraps for special occasions-where I have a few days off, so maybe festive?     Would you like some home...made(?) fall pictures or photos to frame or put in a photobook? I will stalk the toads in my yard for you! Any particular things you'd enjoy photos of? Yard toads! YAY! I like pictures of things!       Are there any things (characters, bad guys, halloween-related-things, fandoms, etc) you absolutely can not stand or don't want in your goodies? I don't really like the idea of a Twilight or 50 shades for me. (I think its fantastic that they exist, and seem to draw in people that don't normally read and that sort of stuff, but they just aren't for me.)   Do the mp3 player/radio station thing!(optional, just because I always like this question ) Will do later, my computer is really really really full, and itunes takes a while to load up. I should go to bed.     Anything from the [Lilith's Birthday] update strike your fancy? Not enough to want a decant   I know we had a question about getting into new hobbies/crafts already, but is there anything else you've always meant or wanted to learn about/learn more about but haven't got around to getting a book on or watching a show about it? sure! Ha ha ha ha ha! I am not helpful! Good thing I'm easy!   Both Sihaya Designs and Elements and Artifacts did updates this week - anything that interests you? Didn't look-but yes!     I have a pretty massive farmer's market by me - is there anything that you would like from there? Yes!   Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? yes     Are there hot drinks that you like this time of year? If so, what would you like? yes!   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? There were guinea fowl close to the cabin we vacationed at. When we'd go to town, they'd be out in the owner's yard. If you opened the car window and asked them a question, they (all three of them) would run away as fast as they could, while squawking. It was HILARIOUS!     How about homemade infused vodkas? Sounds interesting!     Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? HA HA HA HA HA HA HA !!! If I thought of them, I would have boughten them! (I give myself a small present when I go to the store and it sucks. I hate going to the store, so I bribe myself. It might be a candy, or a nailpolish, or a cooking magazine.)   If you are my trick or treater, would you be delighted by some cool Halloween fabric or would you wonder if I'd lost my mind? Yes! Ha ha ha ha! I would be delighted, and also a little confused. I do not sew, though I do have a machine in a lovely little fold-away cabinet. I would find something to do with it! (I can make pot-holders!)     What ONE non-discontinued GC scent do you absolutely love, but for whatever reason, haven't yet purchased a bottle for yourself? I am a bad bad girl and have bought the gc that I've tried and liked.     Decorative box (not bigger than say, a cigar type box) - yea or nay? Mine are all full up. So I could use more!   On a scale from horrified to enraptured, how do you feel about this fabric? (ETA: if it were to be, say, a bag? >.> ) I didn't see the fabric, but I can say that I would be enraptured!   Kitchen stuff? Say spatulas with skulls on or an apron with a Halloween theme AIEEEEE!!!! I do not let myself buy any, we don't really have cupboard space for them. But if its a gift....well, that's different! Ha ha ha ha!     A Game of Thrones: are you a fan of the TV series? Have you read the books or would you want to? I've been meaning to try the first book. I used to love those long epic fantasy novels, I sort of lost my taste for them (Wheel of Time and those Richard/Kahlan books, anyone?). I'm willing to give it a try.     Would you like any home made jams? I can guarantee they are very yummy. Yes!     What is your favorite Halloween/Trick-or-Treat candy and would you like to have it included? People have favorites? Have you ever seen Fraggle Rock, when the Fraggles are eating Doozer built structures. That's what I am like with trick-and-treats.     How much edible stuff do you want/would you expect? A little something in every package? A couple of treats along the way? Sure! Edible is nice, I like to eat things. I won't cry if there is no snackables. I also won't cry if it is all snackables. Really, I am insanely excited about this swap, and I will love whatever you give me!     Assuming that I have a budget of X, would you mind if there were one big package that is 1/2X with the rest significantly smaller, but still fun, or would you prefer a more 1/13X breakdown? I like presents! One big present, many little presents! If I have something to open up everyday, I am happy! It could be a funny comic you cut out of a newspaper. Anything, really.     Reveal - would you prefer it in the first package so we can chatter about things as you open, at the very end so you can drag out the surprise, or dealer's choice? I am easy!   If you've noted that you like coffee/tea/hot cocoa or anything of the sort, can you elaborate? Do you like/not like flavored varieties? Would you prefer whole bean/ground/bagged/looseleaf/instant/have-to-heat-it-in-a-pan-with-milk? Do you feel like you've answered this question over and over again? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!   [is there anything you would like to try from the]WEENIES?!?! I am a naughty girl and already signed up for decants of ones I thought might be nice on me.   Are there any animals, birds or bugs that you don't like, scare you, or just plain freak you out? I think I'm ok, unless you start mailing live animals. So, please no live animals.     Who likes to write with fountain pens? I'm not allowed to paint inside stuff anymore. And can barely be trusted with outside stuff (I fling paint everywhere). I imagine I would do the same with a fountain pen. I don't think I should have one.     Do you have a preferred type of pen? The free kinds? Mr. Boy frequently comes home with a pen in his pocket from work because he forgot to take it out of his pocket. Every so often he brings a big stack of them back. We still have pens everywhere.     What type of cellphone/mobile, music player, reader, tablet, or other gadgets are your babies? What are your opinions on accessories for them? Hard/soft cases, decals, danglies, carriers, etc? AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! My ipod is a generation 2 nano, with a screen that doesn't work anymore (you can sort of puzzle out something, if its at the top of the screen). My phone, is just new enough to work with the sync on my car. Barely. So, nothing needed there!     What kind of tea do you like? The kind that goes in my mouth! I like everything, except roobios, jasmines, and anything heavily licorice or floral.     Do you have any favorite Halloween/fall-theme animals? bats?     New (Weird) Question: I do a lot of resin work, specifically, insects in resin. Would receiving one be horrifying? Okay? Interesting? That would be very cool! I would maybe have to fight Mr. Boy for it. (He took all my other cool animal things for his Man Cave. I said he could, but it was hard to let him have them-a couple of grouse and pheasant tails, and skulls.) Resin bug would stay mine!     Do you enjoy real, old fashioned scary? Not the new-fangled psychological scary...Im thinking dracula, frankenstein, ghosts, mummies, goblins, the disembodied hand...etc... I do not like the torture porn. I do like the old stuff! And the slightly less old stuff.     Are there any other perfume, or bath & body companies that you would like to try? Any that you have tried & would like more of? Or any you have tried, but don't want more of? Yes please! I try all things!     Are there food items that you adore, or have tried once, that you can't get where you are now, but would love to eat again? If you happen to be in Australia, the cadbury bar with the popping candies and jelly beans and chocolate was really good. But so are the koala candies, and marizpan from germany. AND ALL THE CANDIES!! Also, I like things to eat that aren't candies!     I know we had a question about mix cds in the q'aire, but if you answered yes to a homemade cd, would you be interested in a themed mix? Such as Halloween classics, or dark and stormy classical, etc. and so forth? Oooh! That sounds lovely! And random mixes are fun too. I tend to play my ipod on shuffle a lot. So I'll get a song, a section from an audio book, then a funny joke, and something else. I try to be little less mixed up when other people are listening though.   How sick a sense of humour can you cope with? I'm with Ahania...werewolf eating a baby-hilarious! Werewolf raping a baby-not funny at all     If I were going to make you a polymer figurine-or-pendant-or-earrings-or-..., is there any particular thing you'd like more than other things(ex: a tiny 'you', or witch's hat earrings, or a ghost pendant, etc.)? I like things!     Would you be interested in a handwritten journal that had stuff for and about you(no, not stalker notations); for example, things about your astrological sign, or birthday, or year you were born or recipes or poetry or pictures? Like, a book that you could read, that was assembled just for you(in my sort of sloppy, lefthanded writing[i will write in print, not cursive, so you can still read it]) Yes! Probably not big into the poetry though, unless its short pieces. I have a hard time paying attention to them. (Short things like a lot of Emily Dickenson's stuff is ok though!)     Are there any candies in particular you'd like to try? Or that you just can't get enough of? I like eating candies!     Are there any candies you can't stand, and don't want to see in your box? Candies that are green and fruit flavored should be lime. Green apple is not a flavor! Down with Green Apple!     List 5 or 6 TV shows/Movies that you enjoy watching (and possible villains, if you can think of any): The earlier seasons of Supernatural I like Maleficent from Disney-I have one little toy of her-its super-cute (I always wanted her to win, even as a child...she was just so awesome) Firefly/Serenity Powerpuff Girls (my favorite villains there are Fuzzy Lumpkins and Sedusa, but I like them all) I like the Resident Evil Movies Hocus Pocus (I tried picking more halloweenie things, or things that might work for having villains. I like all these lots!)     Decorations: can you have them at your desk at work (assuming you have a desk at work) and would you like some? I have a desk at home! And I could use some small things!     Are there any books or short stories (or poems) you especially associate with this time of year or always want to reread in autumn? I gave away my hardcover copy of Graveyard Book, I could use a paperback!     How do you feel about skulls? Yay skulls!     Do you like plushies? One that's small and possibly handmade? Absolutely! I generally only get or display ones that are better than the average store plushie.     Lip balm: tin or tube? Tube please.
