13 Nights of Halloween Questions List

Are there any animals, birds or bugs that you don't like, scare you, or just plain freak you out?     Who likes to write with fountain pens?     Do you have a preferred type of pen?     What type of cellphone/mobile, music player, reader, tablet, or other gadgets are your babies? What are your opinions on accessories for them? Hard/soft cases, decals, danglies, carriers, etc?     What kind of tea do you like?     Do you have any favorite Halloween/fall-theme animals?     New (Weird) Question: I do a lot of resin work, specifically, insects in resin. Would receiving one be horrifying? Okay? Interesting?     Do you enjoy real, old fashioned scary? Not the new-fangled psychological scary...Im thinking dracula, frankenstein, ghosts, mummies, goblins, the disembodied hand...etc...     Are there any other perfume, or bath & body companies that you would like to try? Any that you have tried & would like more of? Or any you have tried, but don't want more of?     Are there food items that you adore, or have tried once, that you can't get where you are now, but would love to eat again?     I know we had a question about mix cds in the q'aire, but if you answered yes to a homemade cd, would you be interested in a themed mix? Such as Halloween classics, or dark and stormy classical, etc. and so forth?     How sick a sense of humour can you cope with?     If I were going to make you a polymer figurine-or-pendant-or-earrings-or-..., is there any particular thing you'd like more than other things(ex: a tiny 'you', or witch's hat earrings, or a ghost pendant, etc.)?     Would you be interested in a handwritten journal that had stuff for and about you(no, not stalker notations); for example, things about your astrological sign, or birthday, or year you were born or recipes or poetry or pictures? Like, a book that you could read, that was assembled just for you(in my sort of sloppy, lefthanded writing[i will write in print, not cursive, so you can still read it])     Are there any candies in particular you'd like to try? Or that you just can't get enough of?     Are there any candies you can't stand, and don't want to see in your box?     List 5 or 6 TV shows/Movies that you enjoy watching (and possible villains, if you can think of any):     Decorations: can you have them at your desk at work (assuming you have a desk at work) and would you like some?     Are there any books or short stories (or poems) you especially associate with this time of year or always want to reread in autumn?     How do you feel about skulls?     Do you like plushies?     Lip balm: tin or tube?     Do you or would you burn incense? What kind?     How about scented (or unscented) candles?     Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else?     Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics?     Jewelry: Gold or Silver?     Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there).     Would you like some home...made(?) fall pictures or photos to frame or put in a photobook? I will stalk the toads in my yard for you! Any particular things you'd enjoy photos of?     Are there any things (characters, bad guys, halloween-related-things, fandoms, etc) you absolutely can not stand or don't want in your goodies?     Is there anyone else in your household that would appreciate a little extra included for them(pets, children, spouse, SO, house spirits, etc.)? This is also known as 'Do I need to send two bags of caramel apple Milky way; one for you and one for you...to share with other people?' Also, this would be considered an extra, and not necessarily part of the 13 gifts.     Do the mp3 player/radio station thing!(optional, just because I always like this question )     Anything from the [Lilith's Birthday] update strike your fancy?     I know we had a question about getting into new hobbies/crafts already, but is there anything else you've always meant or wanted to learn about/learn more about but haven't got around to getting a book on or watching a show about it?     Both Sihaya Designs and Elements and Artifacts did updates this week - anything that interests you?     I have a pretty massive farmer's market by me - is there anything that you would like from there?     Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? (ETA: if it were to be, say, a bag? >.> )     Kitchen stuff? Say spatulas with skulls on or an apron with a Halloween theme     A Game of Thrones: are you a fan of the TV series? Have you read the books or would you want to?     Would you like any home made jams? I can guarantee they are very yummy.     What is your favorite Halloween/Trick-or-Treat candy and would you like to have it included?     How much edible stuff do you want/would you expect? A little something in every package? A couple of treats along the way?     Assuming that I have a budget of X, would you mind if there were one big package that is 1/2X with the rest significantly smaller, but still fun, or would you prefer a more 1/13X breakdown?     Reveal - would you prefer it in the first package so we can chatter about things as you open, at the very end so you can drag out the surprise, or dealer's choice?     If you've noted that you like coffee/tea/hot cocoa or anything of the sort, can you elaborate? Do you like/not like flavored varieties? Would you prefer whole bean/ground/bagged/looseleaf/instant/have-to-heat-it-in-a-pan-with-milk? Any that you are looking for swappee?     Homemade fudge, anyone?

13 Nights of Halloween swap help

--What is your favorite Halloween/Trick-or-Treat candy and would you like to have it included? Candy Corn (has to be Brachs though, I'm a candy corn snob) and 3 Musketeers. Sure, but not too much.   --How much edible stuff do you want/would you expect? A little something in every package? A couple of treats along the way? Not too much edible stuff as I've put back on a few lbs lately. Need to cut back on the sugar a bit.   --Assuming that I have a budget of X, would you mind if there were one big package that is 1/2X with the rest significantly smaller, but still fun, or would you prefer a more 1/13X breakdown? I lean towards the first option, but really whatever is fine with me.   --Reveal - would you prefer it in the first package so we can chatter about things as you open, at the very end so you can drag out the surprise, or dealer's choice? Dealer's choice.   --If you've noted that you like coffee/tea/hot cocoa or anything of the sort, can you elaborate? Do you like/not like flavored varieties? Would you prefer whole bean/ground/bagged/looseleaf/instant/have-to-heat-it-in-a-pan-with-milk? Do you feel like you've answered this question over and over again? I slightly prefer ground, but whole bean is cool (we have a grinder). Love flavored, no preference as to loose or bagged, instant is cool. I'm pretty easy as long as it's yummy. Kitchen stuff? Say spatulas with skulls on or an apron with a Halloween theme (not that I'm fantasizing about making myself one from something like, say, this or anything) I don't cook and prefer to stay out of the kitchen.   A Game of Thrones: are you a fan of the TV series? Have you read the books or would you want to? Tried the books and just couldn't get into them. Watched one episode a couple months ago and thought it was funny (I was told it's not supposed to be that funny lol). Might try it again but I'm not in any hurry.   Would you like any home made jams? I can guarantee they are very yummy. I am not a jam person but dh and the kids like it. Decorative box? Probably not. We have a ton already, but if it's something unique or really fun, sure.   On a scale from horrified to enraptured, how do you feel about this fabric? (ETA: if it were to be, say, a bag? >.> ) I like it! I think it would make a fun bag. -Both Sihaya Designs and Elements and Artifacts did updates this week - anything that interests you? From Sihaya, and of the wing earrings. They are all gorgeous. From Elements, I love the Open Grave necklace and the DDLM earrings.   -I have a pretty massive farmer's market by me - is there anything that you would like from there? Maybe some honey?   -Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? BodyArtForms.com, amazon, Etsy   -Are there hot drinks that you like this time of year? If so, what would you like? Flavored coffees.   -Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Yes, but all very expensive. lol   -How about homemade infused vodkas? Nope, don't drink.   -Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? One of those cups you stick in the freezer then put your drink in instead of using ice (am I making sense? lol), popcorn seasonings, not sure what else. I'll think about it. Jewelry: Gold or Silver? Either, though I like copper more than gold.   Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there). No. I don't like stuff on my fingernails and I have enough for my toes.   Would you like some home...made(?) fall pictures or photos to frame or put in a photobook? I will stalk the toads in my yard for you! Any particular things you'd enjoy photos of? Spooky trees, toads are cool, neat looking moths, stuff like that. Do you like plushies? Maybe. I would love an Alien/facehugger type one, but not sure what else.   Lip balm: tin or tube? Neither please.   Do you or would you burn incense? What kind? How about scented (or unscented) candlesWe can't burn incense anymore due to asthma and migraine issues.   Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else? Either would be fine. I have a kindle. I do have a lot of of kindle books like Lovecraft, Poe, etc.   Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics? Sure, though I prefer the really twisted kind and horror ones. Skulls? Yes please! I collect skulls, skeletons, etc. Any and all. If I were going to make you a polymer figurine-or-pendant-or-earrings-or-..., is there any particular thing you'd like more than other things(ex: a tiny 'you', or witch's hat earrings, or a ghost pendant, etc.)? Not earrings since I don't really wear traditional earrings. Maybe a pendant? Something like a hatchet or body part? More gruesome than cute? lol   Are there any books or short stories (or poems) you especially associate with this time of year or always want to reread in autumn? Not really   Speaking of wishlists, and here is another question... could everyone please link to their various wishlists? http://amzn.com/w/3F0132MYIB7XS List 5 or 6 TV shows/Movies that you enjoy watching (and possible villains, if you can think of any): My list: Doctor Who (Weeping Angels, the Silence) Firefly Supernatural Alien series (love these, in fact I'm getting a xenomorph tattoo next year). Star Trek (not the new movies though ) Twin Peaks The Walking Dead I love movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Evil Dead, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Hellraiser, etc).   Hated Candies? Black licorice, taffy, twizzlers, anything really chewy (like caramels). How sick a sense of humour can you cope with? I have a truly sick and twisted sense of humor. I highly doubt anything would go too far. Food items I would love to eat again? Not that I can think of. I'll give it some more thought though. Mixed cd? Sure.   Bath and body companies? I'm open to trying whatever. Just no hair stuff (check out my avatar for explanation lol). Also, no face products please (my piercings can get irritated by certain things). What kind of tea do you like? Mate teas are just about the only ones I drink anymore.   Vintage scary? Yes!   Do you have any favorite Halloween/fall-theme animals? Bats.   I do a lot of resin work, specifically, insects in resin. Would receiving one be horrifying? Okay? Interesting? Sure! Sounds cool. (just not roaches please)   What type of cellphone/mobile, music player, reader, tablet, or other gadgets are your babies? What are your opinions on accessories for them? Hard/soft cases, decals, danglies, carriers, etc? I have a Samsung Note 2 but I don't need anything for it (not that they even make much for my phone).   Fountain pens? Nope.   Are there any animals, birds or bugs that you don't like, scare you, or just plain freak you out? For example, I had a co-worker who thought owls were creepy, and personally, I'm not a huge fan of cockroaches.   There aren't any that scare me. though I found crickets, cockroaches and palmetto bugs disgusting, cicadas both weird me out and intrigue me (there are some kick ass cicada ear weights I'm saving up for), and spiders don't really bother me too much. Oh, and I hate possums. As for little plastic critters, no thank you. My animals have not been graced with much intelligence so they will try to eat them.

13 Nights of Halloween Q's

Are there any animals, birds or bugs that you don't like, scare you, or just plain freak you out? I freak out pretty bad with flying bugs (even if they're harmless like ladybugs or moths). I do not like things that can fly in my face. I'm also not the biggest fan of crickets and similar critters. Thankfully, cockroaches aren't a thing I have to worry about in the Pacific NW (they're more disgusting than scarey). I have no issues with spiders.   Who likes to write with fountain pens? Do you have a preferred type of pen? I love fountain pens - there's just so much variety when it comes to them. I also really like felt tip pens. And the finer the point, the better (I have a set of Uni-ball Signo Bit pens that are .18)   What type of cellphone/mobile, music player, reader, tablet, or other gadgets are your babies? What are your opinions on accessories for them? Hard/soft cases, decals, danglies, carriers, etc? Danglies are amazing. I actually need new ones since the ones on my phone are pretty much about to fall off (I still have a flip phone).   What kind of tea do you like? I tend to go for fruity teas. I really enjoy going to the Queen Mary Tea Room and really like their White Peach Blossom tea. I really don't have a preference over the type of tea (like black, white, etc), though I don't often go for green. I tend to drink it straight (no cream or sugar, though sampling the Cameronian Black at Queen Mary probably would have tasted much better with sugar). I also really like loose leaf teas.   I do a lot of resin work, specifically, insects in resin. Would receiving one be horrifying? Okay? Interesting? Resin work is really neat, and some insect jewelry is really beautiful. So, I wouldn't mind getting something like that.   Are there any other perfume, or bath & body companies that you would like to try? Any that you have tried & would like more of? Or any you have tried, but don't want more of? I'm always looking out for new companies. I would love to try out Arcana's soaps and facial masks. I have one Posset's oil (from a swap) and wouldn't mind trying out more from them. I haven't gotten to try any Nocturne Alchemy scents yet (Seance: SHEN LE). I haven't been able to get any Haunt items since she went to the seasonal releases (I'd love to get my hands on a bar of Goblin soap and Witch-Wife skin glossing oil).   Do you enjoy real, old fashioned scary? Not the new-fangled psychological scary...Im thinking dracula, frankenstein, ghosts, mummies, goblins, the disembodied hand...etc... I do - I grew up looking forward to watching the classics every year (and I'm really annoyed that slasher films are the only things shown). I actually don't have any of the classics on dvd and the one I would like the most is my favorite, The Wolf Man (with Lon Chaney, Jr.; I refuse to watch the remake). But I also really enjoy the psychological stuff (asian horror is really good at that).   I know we had a question about mix cds in the q'aire, but if you answered yes to a homemade cd, would you be interested in a themed mix? Such as Halloween classics, or dark and stormy classical, etc. and so forth? Yes please! I actually don't have much in the way of 'Halloween' themed music, so this would be wonderful.   How sick a sense of humour can you cope with? The only humour I'm really not a fan of is potty humour.   If I were going to make you a polymer figurine-or-pendant-or-earrings-or-..., is there any particular thing you'd like more than other things(ex: a tiny 'you', or witch's hat earrings, or a ghost pendant, etc.)? Figurine-wise: fairies and/or dragons; pendant/earrings: anything goes   Would you be interested in a handwritten journal that had stuff for and about you(no, not stalker notations); for example, things about your astrological sign, or birthday, or year you were born or recipes or poetry or pictures? Like, a book that you could read, that was assembled just for you(in my sort of sloppy, lefthanded writing[i will write in print, not cursive, so you can still read it]) That would be beyond amazing.   Are there any candies you can't stand, and don't want to see in your box? I don't do black licorice, and while I do enjoy a good dark chocolate, it's not something I go for often   Decorations: can you have them at your desk at work (assuming you have a desk at work) and would you like some? No desk   Are there any books or short stories (or poems) you especially associate with this time of year or always want to reread in autumn? I read Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury last year around Halloween and will associate it with the season, but I don't really have anything that I want to reread each year (I'm determined to read Dracula for the first time in honor of the season this year).   How do you feel about skulls? Personally, I love skulls and skull motifs on items.   Do you like plushies? Love them   Lip balm: tin or tube? I'm fine with either one   Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else? Physical books   Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics? I read manga and am a Marvel fan; I would like to know what Wonder Woman storyline is a good one to start with.   Jewelry: Gold or Silver? Either one - I still can't decide which one I like best   Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there). Not really - I much prefer polish (though some of the Jamberry designs are cute)   Do you or would you burn incense? What kind? How about scented (or unscented) candles? I've been wanting to try out incense. I love candles of all kinds.   Are there any things (characters, bad guys, halloween-related-things, fandoms, etc) you absolutely can not stand or don't want in your goodies? The only thing that comes to mind is Twilight (or anything else she's written) and similar storylines; and 50 Shades (the book was going around at work and so I subjected myself to it to see how bad it was; I got through chapter 9 and couldn't read anymore. Have people never read good smut? Considering it's a Twilight fanfiction with changes to make it legal to publish, it's not a big surprise).   Wishlists: I do have a ThinkGeek wishlist (just use my name, city/state to find it on the site)

From: Sic Erit

Yeah, this is just about what happened to me, sadly. I was a little heartbroken, because the musk and amber and woods and even the patch note sounded great.     In the bottle: A lot sweeter than I expected, plus a sharp edge.   Wet: A strong, sharp, UNPLEASANT weirdly sweet scent. It is just about like bad department store men's cologne. Total ugh.   Drydown: A couple of hours later, the 'bourbon geranium' (what the heck) dies down some, and the scent becomes sweeter and less sharp. It's still kind of spicy. I like the aged patchouli -- normally a death note I hate -- but it's pretty buried. Ditto the bark and cedar. The benzoin comes out a bit, not much. I think the musk is tamping things down, but there's a definite Old Spice vibe here for me. The longer it's on, the better it gets, except it also gets more faint (not necessarily a bad thing there!).   Verdict: This has been aging since Feb. and the sweet/sharp/spice effect is still there. Not much complexity or depth at all. Maybe in another year or so....I bought all these bottles together as a set, so I don't want to sell it off, but I am going to let this age for a very long while to see if the geranium/spice at least softens.   Source: Sic Erit

tastes change over time- retesting and paring down

a running diary of impressions of scents i haven't tried in a long time, to see how much i really want to keep them. kept here for my own reference.

8-13-13: our lady of pain: do like the orchid in this, like it better when smelled close up, but wafting around me it's mostly patchouli. swap.

8-14-13: kaidan: nice, but a bit too fruity and unremarkable on me. swap.

8-15-13: sybil: nice dusky, rosy scent, that turns very floral-oriental, but i have a lot of these. undecided.

8-18-13: dysopes tenius: a recent LE i recently tested, but i liked it better the first time. this time it's too aquatic or sweet for my tastes. i am kind of tempted to keep it because i originally liked it, but now i'm not feeling it... swap.

8-19-13: the loosening of the obi: still love this one. it's perfect for spring or summer, it smells beautiful. the rice wine isn't too sweet and the notes blend seamlessly into a beautiful pale white blend. keep.

8-20-13: peacock queen: pure beautiful rose. this smells great on me. rose, especially this rose, seems to love my skin chemistry. reminiscent of a soft tea rose once it's been on for a few hours. keep.

8-21-13: thoos: this becomes almost pure white musk on me, with a hint of cypress. only a hint of tangerine at the beginning. i like it, but it's kind of simple, at least on my skin. i'd prefer something with more elements...i tend to like my white musks mixed with florals, like pele. swap.

8-26-13: sapphics: still love this one as much as i ever did! close to the skin and  so pretty in a soft, warm enveloping way. keep.

9-11-13: l'essence de l'ardeur: when i first put this on, i was kind of 'meh' about it-it was a bit too foody for me, mostly chocolate, pomegranate and nutmeg, but now that i't's been on my skin for about 2 hours, it's much less foody and more sexy, mostly vanilla and champaca. i like this, but i'm not sure if it's remarkable enough to keep. swap.

9-30-13: waltz of the flowers: another pale white floral scent. i have really come to love these. this is mostly white musk, madonna lily and vanilla, i think. really nice and soft and a bit comforting. keep.

12-5-13: motley 2009: well it's been awhile since i've done the pare down. i've been doing LEs because i have tons of LE decants, as compared to GCs. i should do some GCs too though. anyway, yeah this one can be swapped. it's kind of nice, but not remarkable or anything-kind of a soft fruity musk. swap.

12-18-13: nevar: a recent LE acquisition, but i remain very undecided whether i should keep this or swap it so i am re-trying it once more in order to make a decision. i thought about this and it is VERY nice and i very much want to keep it, but i have Too Much Perfume and more interesting scents in the same vein. swap.

12-30-13: haloes: mmm what a lovely scent. i haven't even looked at the notes yet, but this is one of those nice, close to the skin vanilla-musk scents that i love. i checked the notes and this has quite a few, (Oak, tonka, vanilla, white sandalwood, lily of the valley, white ginger, amber, and apricot.) but it's mostly vanilla, ginger and amber on me. keep.

1-29-14: a wonderful light: this scent and it's name completely slipped my mind, when i reached in the LE imp box and took it out. it's nice, a warm musky scent that ends up with a bit of plasticness after about an hour that i associate with foody scents. it's very pretty, but i have similar scents that honestly work better on me. swap.

8-2-14: yay the forum is back up and now i've been going through my small collection of GC imps and i've found i have a few discontinued scents.
queen: i used to really like this but now i find it semi interesting but not really anything i would wear much anymore. swap.
oya: there's something a bit sharp backing the sweetness of the plum in this. it almost gives me a headache. it's very strong and my skin is amping that sweetness so high. way too strong for me, and then the plum goes plasticky, as usual. swap.
thalia: strong, sweet and fruity. my skin seems to amp up plumeria to insane degrees. much too sweet for me. swap.
antony: soft lemony herbal and resiny scent. my memory may be failing me, but it makes me think of jean nate. maybe it's a more masculine jean nate? kind of nice but i'd never wear this. it goes pretty soapy. swap.

8-3-14
bensiabel: got a frimp with a recent lab purchase and thought i'd try it again. it's all lilac and leather, with the lilac strongest. the lilac note is often too strong and not my cup of tea. swap.
the dormouse: i've got 2 very aged imps of this scent. it's light and pretty then after it dries gets a bit more depth. it's soooo nice revisiting these GCs because a lot of them were my first brushes with bpal i do like this but won't wear it much, so it would do better to pass it along. swap.
whip: this is one of those scents that i always wanted to work on me but it never seemed to work. (wanda worked better than whip for some reason.) i am re-trying an aged imp though, to see if things have changed at all. it hasn't changed but it is a confusing scent for me. one minute the rose gets a sourness (which sometimes happens with me and rose sometimes) and then it smells just fine. i think this is one where i just have to go through a sour period to get to the good stuff. but it does continue to go back and forth between sour and not. swap the new one, keep the aged one.

8-4-14
shoggoth: an old summer favorite. similar to tarot: the star (which i have a bottle of) i prefer the star, but don't wear these types of scents often anyway. i have just an aged partial imp left and it's nice on a warm day. keep.

8-7-14
delight and consternation: yep still really like this. soft and slightly creamy, it's almost banana-y and i hate bananas but i like this. like banana creme brulee. i looked up the notes and i guess it's chocolate custard and rose/lemon. what do i know?! i don't wear a lot of foody scents. this is nice though, so keep.

8-11-14
penis admiration: this scent is so soft that my skin eats it up but it's basically a slightly sweet and woody vanilla lilac. very pretty, but just so subtle and fades fast. only have less than an imp left, so keep.

9-7-14
flowering chrysanthemums: starts out all pretty amber and mums. later on it gets a slightly plasticky thing but it's so subtle that it's not much of an issue. turns into a chrysanthemum incense scent. so pretty. keep.

9-8-14
blossoms in springtime: such a beautiful scent. i could see myself wearing this more often...maybe i need to get more (?) keep.

9-19-14
shub-niggurath: starts out fall-like and foody. not extremely foody, but still too foody for me. swap.

10-17-14
mrs. grose: i wore this today and spilled some on my dress so it was really strong. i love carnation-rose scents, but at first i kept thinking "this is too candle-y smelling for me, but then later in the day it was gooorgeous and i decided i couldn't give it up. keep for now. i should re-try maiden, klara, mrs. grose, etc all at once as i am really trying to pare down.
sarah: too aquatic. kind of a novelty for me but it's headache inducing and not something i would wear more than once every 3-5 years. swap.
opuhi: i should probaaably get rid of this because it's nice but not amazing. but it is a comfort scent, which i tend to like.  swap.

10-22-14
chrysanthemum moon: i haven't worn this in ages. i remember loving it but i rarely wear it and my tastes have changed over time. it's a pretty and kind of ...dusty, for lack of a better word chrysanthemum, with maybe some tea? i like this but i don't love it, but it's so unique too. undecided.

2-3-15
vasilissa- a nice, soft slightly cakey/sweet scent. nice but not wonderful on me so swap.
jareth- i tried this again recently and at first it was kinda masculine, but the type of masculine that i like to wear and then it turned beautiful and convinced me that i still do need a bottle of this! keep.

7-28-15:
l'heure verte- i dipped into my LE decant box which is overflowing and needs to be pared down. i like this one, it smells like a soft sugary rose and incense. it is not overly anise-y, which is nice. i like anise sometimes, but prefer this kind of absinthe, i think. i am wearing this on a warm day...nice scent for a warm day, and luckily the lilac is behaving. keep and finish it off, not much left.

8-12-15:
the governess- this is a yule scent, but i am wearing it on a warm summer day. it's perfect for spring or summer, and has the same feel as the mouse's long and sad tale. that soft tea and powderiness in the scent. i have less than an imp left. keep.

8-14-15:
ashultum- i still love this one! so pretty and nice in all seasons. keep.

8-18-15: on the balcony- i'd completely forgotten about this one but when i sniffed it i thought of lucy, kissed so i re-tried that too, which i actually have a bottle of. on the balcony is pretty and of the few somewhat-aquatics i can wear. i saw somewhat because it's not really that aquatic...it's more of that cool marble note the lab uses. anyway, lucy kissed is deeper, darker and woodier but they kind of have a similar feel in a way. i still prefer lucy, kissed though. swap.

1-9-16:
a companion of the same nature- i like this even better than the first time. it's a sophisticated amber-mum-rose and i love it. it reminds me a lot of some commercial perfumes i like...may even have to get a bottle. keep.
black taffeta- this smells kind of dry, smoky and slightly head-shop at first. i guess that's the patchouli? i didn't seem to have that impression last time either. there's something almost chocolaty in this. i dunno, it's not really wowing me this time. it's ok but i have so much perfume. swap.
tombeur- one of those "sexy red musk" blends that i love (but have so many of.) it's one of the lighter, cleaner red musks starting out. it has lavender and florals but it's mostly red musk. i dont think i need to keep this one. swap.
cicuta- smoky rose. loving it already...yep. it dries down to a smoky, rosy candlewax. very me. keep.
o love and time of sin- rose with red musk and something softly earthy-musky. i like this, but it's wowing me less then when i first tried it so far. swap.
unseelie- smells like soft herbs, very soft florals and something herbal, almost minty, but less strong. there's something underlying that's a bit medicinal too. this is ok but it's so soft i can hardly smell it. swap.
perchta- starts off snowy. then i get the florals. it's iris-y or orris rooty and soft for the most part. it's a pretty snowy floral but i just won't wear it much and have other similar scents i'd wear more. swap.
albedo v5- i remember liking this. ok it's a coconut-lemon, in the same vein of tarot: the star but with lemon instead of lime and it's softer. then some florals come out. it's soft and tropical. very pretty but not sure i need to keep this. swap.
1-10-16:
day of the skulls- hmm this is alright. it's a watery cocoa-y floral. i probably will like the drydown but this is one where the opening is just too much of something i dislike-it's cloying on me, just too sweet i think. after awhile it is less sweet but something on this is just turning bad on me. swap.
tattered lace- starts off smelling very classic- dry opium i think. there is definitely a wetness to this, but not aquatic (tea, etc). it's pretty subtle, i have to really get close and i can still hardly smell it. it does bloom after this though and it's a nice scent. it gets more vanilla-y and now i love it. keep.
o daughter and death of priapus- incensy orchid. this is nice and the type of scent i like but i have others that i like better. swap.
the tears of lilith- cloying wine and honey. not liking this one too much. yeah it just smells like bubblegum. swap.
three gorgons- starts off with soft spice and amber. it's pretty at the beginning. i love amber scents so this is doing it for me so far. after a few minutes i smell vetiver very slightly and it's even better now there's a hint of the tobacco and orange but not much. this is a wonderful amber... keep.
wolf spider- starts off dry coconut/patchouli with tobacco. reminds me of petrichor with coconut! it's earthy, but has a lightness from the white musk and coconut. the white musk is a prominent backing note. though that settles down and becomes mostly patchouli-coconut. it's nice but not really something i would wear much. swap.
the raptures and roses of vice- starts off as a mixed up floral scent, maybe mostly magnolia at this stage? (also the scent description is wrong on my decant.) after a few minutes, i think im getting roses, musk and coconut. honestly, i'm not really feeling this. i love rose scents, have a lot of them but this one just isn't wowing me in this combination. it does have a vintage/classic feel so i am sort of intrigued with it, but i think it's just too strong for me in a way. swap.
spawn of the she-demon- one of those red musk scents but it's lighter and fruitier. smells like cough syrup for a bit, then gets better, but i'm not really feeling it. swap.

1-12-16:
spirit board- i think i'm getting woods and bois de rose at first. it's nice. then the lilac and tea are getting more prominent, still nice, but at this point i'm not so sure about this being one i'd wear a lot. i think i'm clinging to the love of the imagery...at least at this point. it does get even better, more warm but i just don't know if i need this. have so many similar/better scents. swap.

1-20-16:
klara- i wanted a soft comforting type scent today so i tried klara, which i haven't worn in awhile. i actually have a bottle of this, wasn't expecting to reconsider keeping it, but i am. i do really like it, but i have a lot of carnation scents and it lacks some oomph. i think perhaps it can be swapped because i still have maiden, pink moon 07. etc. swap.

4-30-16:
oisin- white musk and soft flowers (like wildflowers) like the description says, but somehow more. i just like this more than i should. my imp is almost gone, so i shall finish it off soon. keep.
raven moon 2012- this is smoky patchouli and vanilla with a bright blue musk type of thing. it's pretty but not amazing on me and i don't need more scents like this. swap.
antique- a woody and watery scent. it's just ok and i am not really feeling this at all. though it does get much nicer later, i don't need to keep it as i have other similar scents. swap.
honey moon (i think original, but don't know what year that was, 2005?)- i smell a herbal ginger-y honey. alright so far, a bit sweet and kind of syrupy. i get a slight pencil shaving thing not sure why...but this is underwhelming, swap.
contemplating the moon through an open window- whoa this is fruity and soapy at first, like dishwashing soap kind of! not the usual kind of soapy but soapy nonetheless. it turns to powdery soapy, it's very odd and not that great on me, though i like it more with the tuberose, it's just kind of odd. swap.
usher- light, white musky tea and citrussy. has that underlying wateriness of some older bpals which come to mind- the unicorn and some of the older tea scents. it's alright but i don't need it. swap.

5-1-16:
unveil the grace in thine eyes- a pretty, soft amber and soft musk with ambergris. i love all these notes, keep.
witch dance- red musky and autumnal, kind has that fruity candle smell i'm not that fond of...or it smells like cider. this is so red musky but it's just too halloween-y for me. swap.
dolly kei- it starts with tobacco which smells watery, i don't know how or why but recent bpal's with tobacco all do this on me, so there you have it. i think i get some myrrh too. it's kind of dusty yet wet, hard to explain. it becomes sort of...toasty. not feeling it. swap.
miss ida- ahh starts off with beeeeautiful creamy gardenia and some jasmine. mostly gardenia. if it stays like this it's a keeper. similar to fracas, which i wore today, coincidentally. it's like fracas with vanilla and no tuberose, but truly is reminiscent with that creamy thing! it's a perfect summer scent, and in fact i should probably get a bottle someday...ends up smelling just.like.fracas. keep.
calligraphy practice- it starts off herbal + woody i think. kinda soapy in an astringent/irish spring way but not that strong. it gets more herbaceous and leafy. just too herbal/meh on me. swap.
illustrated woman- astringent and green at first...even more irish spring than recent previous mention. it's like masculine shaving cream actually and it stays that way for the most part. eta: it gets better later but probably still not very "me". swap.
buck moon 2005- the "herbs and air" are apparent first- light like wildflowers and grass. then i get that animalic thing that i remember so cleary back when i tried this...i think it's similar to what became the mushroom note (?) then it gets quite musky! i do like this but would rarely wear it so swap. drydown is actually so pretty keep.
haute macabre- (i keep retrying this and cannot make up my mind on it!) here we go again...smells like a nice oaky vanilla at first, pretty. the leather comes in and is nice too, and it's a new, more masculine leather. more green patchouli later on, still nice. don't love it as much as the other HM scents i have but it is nice. it smells very similar to one of them, if i am remembering correctly. keep. drydown actually turns to sour woods. swap.

5-2-16-
the grindhouse- oh wow, this is amazing at first. forgot how good this is. it's been a long time. a creamy tropical floral, kind of like the recently retested miss ida, but with the addition of red musk. intoxicating. keep.
anactoria- starts out more soapy than i recall. it's a kush-y musk. it's alright but i don't like it as much as i used to. swap.
i loved you at first: but afterwards your love- a nice floral but not amazing at first. blooms to a nice rose-tuberose, notes which i love but in this it seems like just too much. swap.
alma venus- hay like and floral and light. no idea what notes are here. ah yes, neroli/orange blossom and a bunch of ambery honey goodness, and beeswax. keep.
feed me and fill me with pleasure- ambery stuff with a hint of dirtiness from patchouli. it gets dirtier and slightly less pleasant. this should be better than it is, somehow but patchouli is hit or miss so swap.
giallo- i used to have a bottle of this! this is a decant. on first application it smells like elmer's glue, wtf. then i get some florals, ok, not so bad. it's a nice floral scent now, not what i think of when i think of giallo but that's ok. i'm probably just attached to the scent for psychological reasons. it's kind of shampoo-y, then it gets sort of woody-foody? i think there are just too many notes here or something. swap.
the vampire bride- i think i had a bottle of this once. it's cold and icy at first, yep. with violet leaf. fresh. wow this isn't how i remembered at all, yet again. kinda purple yet cold <--- great description i know. ok so this is pretty and nice but it's not really amazing on my skin and i am paring down greatly so swap.

5-4-16-
king cobra (original)- it does that snake oil powdery thing and i can't smell much else though it does work better than snake oil on me. it's nice but i have so many like this, i don't need this one too. swap.
question mark- it's pretty and orangey and a little bit foody-spicy. guess that's cinnamon. it's a bit masculine. i dunno, it's not wowing me and i am paring down so swap.
blacker than the raven wings of midnight- this is starting weird. something sort of hay like and sour. also some florals i think? then i get mostly black tea which almost smells plummy but not quite. a nice tea scent but nothing i need. swap.
mircalla, countess karnstein- it's been ages since i tried this. it starts off smoky and a slight weird burnt smell, almost like burning food of some sort?! combined with a cooler musk. it's red musk with a coolness now. it's warm and cold. i don't like it as much as i used to, tastes do change! swap.
a moment in time- oh i remember really loving this one, as a comforting scent. the lavender and vanilla is gorgeous right off. the woodiness here is gorgeous too. ah yes a total keeper, i can tell already. keep.
hope and fear set free- i sold my bottle of this because i loved the drydown but the first 20 minutes are just weird due to my skin's hatred of bpal's frankincense note. yep it's weird and pencil-shavy. i do love the bourbon vanilla note though, which is why i opted to keep this decant, but not sure it's worth the beginning just for that. swap.
in templum dei- another frankincense scent. it's just kind of gold and resiny with a bit of a cola thing. again, the frankincense is just too much for me. swap.

9-22-16:
cabaret goth- still amazing. last time i wore this i wasn't so sure about it, but it's a warm september day and it smells a m a z i n g. keep.

10-26-15:
death and life completed- trying this for the first time in a looong time. it's a perfumy green amber. it starts with florals and greenery then some carnation, adding a bit of spice, along with amber to ground it. it actually gets very floral-with daisy being pretty prominent. i think my tastes as well as my sense of notes has changed in all the years i've tried this, back when i really loved it. possibly my skin chemistry too, but this is not how i remember it. it's much more bright/floral than ambery as my memory served. i do like this but not nearly as much as i thought i did. swap.

1-8-17
the infernal lover (non-red musk version): i get that slightly milky note this time, don't remember ever getting that before. it's either me or my skin chemistry. i am not as wowed by this as i used to be... swap. (swapped this and found out i had some watered-down version! i had no idea because i had only had this bottle. i did like the scent but am wondering what i missed out on now.)
the girl: soft woody vanilla with soft floral and spicy hints. still beautiful. keep.

2-21-18:
re trying tattered lace: still very pretty like i said above, but not sure i really need to keep it at this point, waffling for now. decided to swap, since not absolute love.

2-22-18:
embracing komachi: oh i love this more than i remembered, it's just SO subtle. added to bottle wishlist anyhow. keep.

2-23-18:
bestla: very very nice. the oudh is a bit weird at first but not too bad. the drydown is gorgeous (tempted to add to bottle wishlist but i think i have other scents that are similar.) will keep my decant though.

2-27-18:
the bride: this one is ok but it's kind of underwhelming and gets mildly plasticky. i do like the magnolia, just not sure about wearing this because it's very soft and seems like mostly base notes. swap.

2-28-18:
against idleness and mischief: got a frimp, so figured i'd re-try it. a dusty honey scent with a hint of green. i think the dusty/green part is chamomile. i used to not be able to wear bpal's honey note, but i am finding more scents that i love with it. in this scent the honey note works, but the chamomile seems a bit medicinal. swap

3-6-18:
kneel down fair love and fill thyself with tears- this smells very floral and classic, a bit understated yet a sweeter floral. i like this but it's not a love-don't think i need to keep this one. eta: later on i began to like it more and realized it smells like natori perfume and also is reminiscent of juliet has a gun- citizen queen. i have a bottle of natori and a sample of citizen queen, but this would be a nice more understated option. still, i think i'll swap

3-11-18:
the lady of shallott- received as a frimp and it's been years since i tried it. i tend to not like aquatics, but i kind of like this scent-it's sweet, subtle and clean. it would be rare for me to rare this, but i might on occasion. reminds me of acqua di gio which i wore in HS or college. also shampoo-y nice but probably best to swap.

hollywood babylon- same as above, with a frimp and hadn't tried for years! it's sweet cherry candy at first. then vanilla comes out within 5 minutes. this is very sweet-far more sweet and fruity than scents i usually wear. i get strawberry and heliotrope next. i'm liking it more as the cherry calms down. still, just too sweet for me. swap.

3-12-18:
received a frimp of hellfire...curious to try it again. it's kind of dank and spicy at first. i think i am mostly getting the musk? maybe some ambergris, because there is something slightly watery but not in an aquatic way at all. i think i get tobacco and that's it. swap.

4-13-18:
laura belle mcdaniel- way smoky in the beginning, for at least 20-30 minutes. it is a really nice scent and i like it a lot but not sure i really need to keep my bottle, because i have similar scents i like better and it seems to fade fast. swap.

7-10-18:
i've been going through my GC imp box, which i tend not to wear as my bottles and LEs for some reason in order to pare down/re-try. several days are listed here.
prunella (discontinued): ok, and one of the few plum scents that works on me, but i'm definitely not going to wear this much. swap.
eclipse: i thought i remember really liking this when i re-tried it in the past year, but i'm not liking it now. it gets a sort of funereal powdery thing happening on the drydown (which sounds good) but which i'm not too fond of. swap.
tamora: i wanted to keep one peach scent that i semi-liked and this was it. however i re-tried and it's not compelling enough to me. swap.
zephyr: eh, it's alright, i tend to not like it at first. the drydown is gorgeous, but i don't know that i need to keep it. swap.
pele: way more white musk than i can handle. pele was one of my first BPAL loves, but alas tastes and skin chemistry have changed. swap.
othello: ok, out of this whole bunch, this was the winner. it's so much more complex than the descrption. an absolutely beautiful rose scent...i may need a bottle someday. keep.
the butterfly: a pretty scent, very nice drydown but the drydown is so similar to others, i don't need to keep it. swap.

7.11.18:
ya te vo (discontinued): pretty herbal. a bit spicy. not terrible, but won't wear it. swap.

7.12.18:
Tenochtitlan: kind of nice, but underwhelming and far too subtle. ok, my thoughts changed a bit on this throughout the day. this bloomed on my skin and got to be very pretty actually! still, i feel like i have similar scents. swap.

7.13.18:
Love Lies Bleeding: i must say, i'm pretty underwhelmed by this and it's too sweet for me. swap.

7.16.18:
hymn to proserpine: one of the few fruity scents i like. it's very unisex. just has no sillage. swap.   2.8.19 couple consulting an enpon: i smell mostly blackberry and some amber. this is ok but kind of gets like plasticky cough syrup. swap. a thousand thoughts, and hopes and joys: very soft. the freesia and vanilla are pretty. i do love bpal's carnation note a lot. after awhile it just gets so sweet. swap. the sick rose: it has that earthy vetiver quite strong at first, then mellows out to an opium/labdanum rose. i like it a lot for a 'dirty'/deep rose scent. keep.   2.9.19 gemini 07: mostly lavender. my old review for this was inconclusive. there's a hint of orchid which gets stronger over time. it's very soft but pretty, but not sure i need it. swap. two loves: a pretty musky floral. i do like this but i haven't picked it up in years. swap. mars ultor: at first almost aquatic with foodiness. definitely leans more masculine. it's a nice scent but a bit underwhelming. swap.   2.10.19 le miroir de la coquetterie: it smells woody/earthy at first, kind of damp and dank. ends up smelling kind of like habanita, very powdery. it's ok but not necessary to keep. swap. phallus parade: smoky and clean yet dusky. it's interesting at first. it turns into more of a clean masculine scent. i like it, but not as much as i thought i originally did. swap. alma venus (2nd retry): it's a primarily beeswax scent with neroli. nice, but it smells too much like a candle to me now. swap.    2.11.19 dorian CXLVI: i have no idea where i got this, and a search doesn't yield much. it smells like dorian and resins. maybe rosewood vanilla and rose? smells powdery classic + dorian. i do kind of like this. keep.   2.12.19 delightful visitor among the haystacks: smells like hay a bit. shortly thereafter i get the mildly fruity-floral of the lab's chrysanthemum note. yeah this is a keeper. keep. disastrous twilight: smells weird at first-kind of like smoky baby powder. it's got that 'classic' feel. dries down to a powdery ylang ylang, which i like a lot. keep.   2.13.19 philostratus' phoenix: smells like red musk at first. then citruses...very bright red/orange/flaming scent. the honeyed incense is very pretty, but it tends to get a candle-like smell on the drydown.    2.16.19 a kiss amongst discarded tissues: I smell the berries and something weird in the back.  it's very soft, underwhelming. swap. king of diamonds: smells nutty and creamy. it's very subtle. i like it but my skin seems to eat it up  and it's almost gone... swap. embracing komachi: lovely violet scent to start...still pretty, nice for spring. but i don't need a bottle like i thought i did. keep.  loosening of the obi:  it smells kind of like shampoo at first-fresh and a bit fruity. it's a very pretty, soft scent, i just know i likely won't wear it much. swap.   2.17.19 the devil's pet baits: almond and patchouli to start. it's a melange of spiciness and muskiness. alright but not amazing. swap. nasty woman: I remember feeling a bit mixed on this one, and have only tried it once. i am really just trying to keep absolute loves now. it's patchouli with fig. kind of foody-patchouli and yeah i guess underwhelming for me. swap. flickering lantern: powdery and a bit soapy at first, but has that creamy/sugary-floral thing i enjoy. it reminds me of hope but is more cloying and soapy. swap.   2.18.19 snaky hair'd moirai many formed- smells rubbery at first, not sure why. then i get a chewy tobacco. it's mostly tobacco, not really feeling it. swap. haloes: starts as a pretty woody floral scent. turns to a sweetish creamy apricot, verging on mildly plasticky. i find it too sweet, and not for me. swap.   2.21.19 streets of detroit: headshoppy with something that smells a bit yellow and zingy...not sure how else to describe it. swap. a nocturnal reverie: fruity musky lavender. kind of nice. i remember really liking this one , yet not wanting a bottle knowing i wouldn't wear it much but thinking it'd be interesting occasionally. pretty underwhelmed now. swap. tissue: light and pretty and floral. oh yeah i probably love this (i think?) a pretty gardenia, perfect for summer and spring. keep.   2.22.19 paysage: florals and a hint of tobacco. i really used to like this one but now it's underwhelming me. swap. the top: smells pretty musty at first, but i remember really liking this one. yes a keeper-a pretty musky rose. keep.   2.26.19 standing female nude: so far a rich red rose with resins and musk. i love it during its rose stage, but after the drydown it's just a melange of resins. ok. but swap. vivid enjoyment of the memory of rupture: starts foody and toasty then becomes a tea scent. it's very pretty but fades so much and then is a bit underwhelming. swap.   2.27.19 three gorgons: spicy amber citrus. warm...not too intrigued by it anymore. swap.  unveil the grace in thine eyes: mostly amber and ambergris to start. it's pretty but so subtle. swap.   8.6.19: going through my bottles. 13 october 06: still like this in a way but i just dont wear foody scents much anymore. swap. ecstasy of passion: never thought i'd get rid of this one way back when i bought it but it's just underwhelming to me now. kinda musky and less nuanced then i remember. maybe my skin chemistry has changed, i dunno. swap. okayaki: purchased from the lab's etsy. i tested this and it sadly did not much the old decant i had so guess i must've been given the wrong scent swap. sapphics: a pretty scent but *so* soft and dries down similar to others. swap. amber and lace: a pretty amber....keeping for now. keep. paysage: just mostly tobacco. dont seem to get as much tuberose as before. swap. venus genetrix: this *is* pretty. i'm kind of on the fence but think it's best if it goes because i hardly wear it. swap. so below: way too woody on me now... swap.   8.7.19: more bottles. tissue: pretty but underwhelming and a bit too sweet. swap.  lamia: woody peach....a lot of the notes just don't seem to be there. seems much simpler than i recall. still pretty in a way but too sweet for me now. swap. bakeneko: this seems more masculine than i remember. i smell musk and a hit of orange. i can no longer smell the 'fur'. which i cant believe so maybe i need to retry this later, maybe when the weather is warm. keep (for now.)   8.8.19: more bottles. delight and consternation: this one was a major love for me for a time. i still do love it but it's so  soft, i can hardly smell it, but i have 2 bottles so. swap one of them.   8.9.19: more bottles. lucy, kissed: out of all my red musk blends i've re-tried lately, this one is the best...though there may still be more to try. it's very floral...a red musk floral oriental. also i really like this because it projects well. so many i've been re-trying are so subtle and just drydown notes. this is not underwhelming. keep. blossoms in springtime: starts foody and a bit floral. it's nice but another that's a bit subtle. while pretty it seems like mostly base notes. swap.   11.21.19 djinn: i haven't tried this in years! i have a very aged imp from around the time i first got into BPAL...so it is at least 10 years old but likely more. it still smells the same. it's got that burning thing but a cleanness to it too. i also get a candle-y scent after awhile which isn't my favorite thing. i think it's safe to say i can let this one go. swap. edith cushing: this is really pretty but it's so soft and i have similar scents i like better. swap. the girl: in the same vein as edith cushing but still a major love. keep.   12.15.19 storyboard: julius caesar: very resiny at first- myrrh/frankincense is strong, then i get some iris, and late the rose which is a bit sharp/sour. the rose dissipates and i do like this but can't see myself wearing it much. swap.   4.11.20 spider witch: really nutty at first, with red musk. not a fan of nuttiness/foodiness so i don't like the beginning but never have. it gets really pretty after about 10 minutes, mostly amber, vanilla and red musk, i believe. it is quite gorgeous, but i am trying to pare down scents! i need to get out all my red musks and narrow down, but this seems like a really good one that i should maybe keep. and it gets better over time. just gorgeous. keep. fulvous snow: light and almost lemony at first. it seems different than i remember. after about 20 mins it's very baby powdwery. i feel like this was more rich/vanilla and woody before but now that's not how it seems. did my perceptions change or my tastes? always a question in these situations. maybe a bit of both? swap.   7.27.20: going through the very small collection of GC imps. arachne of lydia: not sure what really possessed me to keep this in the first place? it's very subtle, can barely smell it and it smells weirdly metallic on me. swap.   7.28.20 deadly nightshade honey:  really pretty honey with a hint of grassiness and florals. really beautiful scent, honestly, and i might want more some day. keep. dragon's musk: this is a nice musk, and the only ars draconis scent i like, however it's not amazing and i have plenty of musks. swap.   7.29.20 el dorado: this smells surprisingly clean at first. it's very traditionally masculine. an ok scent but do not need it. swap. famine: smells oddly foody at first (just a little) and not like any of the notes listed. i guess i liked this when i tried it before but now i find it underwhelming-it's mostly just a subtle white musk. swap. shadow witch orchid: once upon a time, in the beginning of my bpal obsession, this was one of my favorites. the beginning smells fruity and herbal. it turns to the dark purple floral i remember, a similar feeling to dior's poison. i still like it but don't love it anymore. still it's nice, if a bit sweet. keep. the rose: pure rose with something herbally sweet. a white rose i think, not my favorite, goes a bit sour. something in this is weirdly cloying. i like rose but am not enjoying this. swap.   7.30.20 anteros: i smell unmistakable red musk. it's very red. must be the red currant as well, because there is a fruitiness in the background. this is pretty strong too. a lot that i've been retrying lately have had very little lasting power, but not this one. dries down to smell like obsession perfume, i think the men's. not my cup of tea. swap. psyche: man, is this decant oooold and stained. it has been years since i tried this. this smells like a resiny floral. it's so subtle. and nice but underwhelming. swap.   7.31.20 the black rider: leather and amber and resins. nice. really liking this, even though i always forget to try layering, i think this would layer nicely. keep.   8.1.20 coyote: i remember thinking this isn't something i'd wear much, years ago when i tried it, but loved how evocative it was. this fades fast on me, dries down to a soft musk with something like hints of honey. i think i'll keep this one to wear to bed. keep. penny dreadful: another extremely oooold decant. i can't even remember this scent at all. smells like earth and sweetness. then i get something more like vanilla, i think. i actually like this and should wear it more! keep. king of hearts: this one is ok, sharp lavender then turns to soft musky cherry. it's kind of nice but i'm not sure i'd reach for it. swap. deep in earth: mossy dirt. like this and it's evocative but if i'm real honest i just don't wear dirt scents (tho i'm keeping my original bpal love zombi.) swap. la mort qui danse: smells woody and peppery. i get slight florals after a few minutes. it's really subtle but it gets better over time, so pretty. keep.   8.3.20 goblin: this is the last scent in my tiny GC imp collection. patchouli and coconut. definitely has that revenant rhythm type of thing. kind of hippieish. not my cup of tea. swap.   2.5.21
entertaining the heian court maiden: this smells kind of odd at first...it is definitely not the bpal's black oudh note. this seems almost bordering on fruity. it's ok but not amazing. swap.   11.23.22 the light of men's lives: creamy beeswax. i think i prefer BPAL's more complex honey scents even though this is nice. swap.   7.22.23 vain sorceress: i really thought this was a love for me but i haven't worn it much and retried it and i like it but not sure how much anymore...tried again, full on wear test and i still love it. smells vintage 80s to me. keep. dolce stil nuovo: the weather is probably too warm to try this right now because it smells almost savory. need to try again in cooler weather. undecided.   3.21.24 woman practicing calligraphy on her lover's erect member this one is pretty, i like the rose. the beginning is a bit rough with the ink/moss combo. goes a bit weirdly sour then balances out and dries down to a vintagey powdery rose. undecided.

J's natal chart (jarvenpa June 2008)

kakiphony's J was born November 15, 1972 at 8:59 in the morn in Sturgis MI (and we all deserve treats!)   J is a Scorpio with Sagittarius rising and Moon in Pisces.   His chart is strongly left sided, with a singleton Saturn in Gemini in the 7th house (singleton by virtue of being the only righthand planet in the chart). The Sun is in the 12th house, the moon in the 3rd house.   The Pisces Moon is at a vital point in the chart, focus of a t square; squaring Saturn and Mercury (and we'll babble more about that eventually).   Okay, this is so wrong, I think, but I look at this chart and the feeling I have is "oooh! This is fun!! yay!!!" Not, mind you, that the reading is fun--though these are for me--but I get this feeling of pure and kind of childish glee, and I can't really explain that. It's like "oh, goodie! this is fun, and I'm going to run away to the circus and feed circus ponies and eat candy cotton all day" That is, I must say, a very odd feeling to have about the chart of a guy I don't know. It would be odd about a guy I do know, for that matter. And it puzzles me (being egocentric I'm figuring--must be something in my chart being jogged by this chart? I mean--okay, I have a thing for Pisces, and there's a Pisces moon, but I tell you, the normal reaction of my soul to Pisces is not "yay, circus!! fun!!" Really strange. Well, there it is, I will try to read like a real grown up here.)   Sagittarius rising does give a very nice initial impression: something of a daredevil, yet intellectual, very fun, very much interested and interesting. J has his Mercury in Sagittarius right at the ascendant, so there is a feeling of "oh, wonderful, he is a story teller and a communicator, I could stay up all night chatting with this person"; there is a feeling of adventure (maybe that's part of what I'm picking up? but odd, I see lots of Sagittarius rising charts and I've never felt this).   (oh, okay--maybe it is that his Sun is at my Jupiter, or very close to that. But still not enough)   Mercury in Sagittarius is the seeker and questioner and communicator. Can be very blunt, asking the questions everyone else shuts up about, not satisfied with the easy answer, wants to know the truth and wants also the good story. Can like travel; doesn't want to be pinned down.   Someone with Mercury at the rising degree may come across as a wit, a very intelligent and fun person (given Sagittarius). Sag rising takes risks, sometimes takes risks no one else will (moms of Sagittarian rising children, like moms of Sunsign or moon sign Sagittarians, usually spend a lot of their time running, catching, and at the ER--the kid doesn't know much about "oh, that would be dangerous"; it is all about "yay, let me try this, and that, and this ..."). Wants to exceed the limits. Indeed, often Sagittarius doesn't know there are limits until someone clues him in "wait, I wasn't supposed to ask? I wasn't supposed to go there? Why not?"   Why not is a big thing for the Sagittarian Mercury; these people keep pressing, intellectually for sure, and often physically.   So he comes across as fun, and bright, and maybe not terribly tactful. (Mercury in Sagittarius tends to blurt things).   However the square from that very sensitive Pisces moon may mitigate a bit of the bluntness; so will the opposition from Saturn, which can trip one up. Usually half sentence, halfway through the bright question--realizes "wait, I...maybe I shouldn't ask this in public?" There is the ability to structure thoughts and communication, the ability to take words fairly seriously.   He has Jupiter (the ruler of Sagittarius) in the first house, but towards the end and in the sign of Capricorn. Jupiter in the first is supposed to make for a "big" person, but I believe it gives presence, whether of physique or of spirit. Jupiter in Capricorn excels at making something of the enthusiastic dreams and visions of the heart, of taking hopeful fancies and turning them into...something very real. This is the spins gold from straw position: can take very little and make it something amazing.   Capricorn is the sign on the house of what he most treasures, what is worthwhile for him, what matters, where he gains his self worth (and also the old time "house of money", 2nd house). His north node of the moon is here, which places the south in Cancer in the 8th house. Someone with a Capricorn/Cancer node structure is dealing with questions of compassion and structure, of tenderness and discipline; someone with a 2/8 node structure is dealing with the questions of values that are received, teachings that have been handed on to him, possibly material wealth that has been granted through others--and his need to claim his own values, to make his own way in the world based on his experiences, while understanding where he came from, what he draws from. The emotion and compassion of Cancer is very easy to him, he is a caring soul. He is reaching for the ability to gain distance (or discernment) and to stand on his own without surrendering the poetry of his heart.   So, the house of siblings, communication (very key to someone with Mercury at his ascendant) and those who feel as if they should be our kin somehow; our people--the 3rd house in J's chart has Aquarius as the cusp sign. And contains the beautiful Pisces moon. An Aquarian 3rd house is not going to communicate in...expected ways, and not going to have boring siblings (of blood or of choice). Big interest in big ideas, in new ways, in the odd, the eccentric, and the shocking. Very open minded. When one's moon is in the 3rd house one feels kind of emotionally compelled to communicate. To tell the story, to tell one's story, to make contact with the world as if the world were indeed just full of your brothers and sisters. The Pisces moon is one of the more romantic, poetic, sensitive, tender moonsigns one could have. These are souls washed with rainbows and moonlight. These are people who walk into a room and feel the vibes; who can pick up emotions from those around them, who do not like to be responsible for harm to others--even hurt feelings. They can be incredibly kind souls, beyond what other people think at all reasonable (one of my Libra friends just walked by--Libra sun, Gemini rising, Pisces moon. He recently adopted a stray dog I had on my hands because the friend who was taking the dog home temporarily "looked as if she were going to cry, and I couldn't bear that". Young Floristan (friend loves opera) is happily settled with Solita (a pup from a rescue litter of mine) and Hudson (a huge bear of a dog his rich brother's wife thought too unfashionable). That response of the heart--and instant action on it--is quite Pisces moon.)   People with the moon in Pisces may be deeply drawn to fairy-tale beauty, to idealistic visions that other people say are impossible or improbable--and yet the Pisces moon person will somehow make that impossiblilty quite possible. These can be the enchanters of the world, and when the Pisces moon is in the 3rd house there is a good chance the person is involved in writing, literature, maybe dance (since Pisces rules the feet). Imagination is greatly increased when you have a 3rd house moon (whatever the sign). Moon in Pisces people may feel emotionally better when they can be near the ocean, or at least near water of some sort; when they are feeling under seige and in trouble, just getting into a shower or going for a swim might momentarily gain them a little strength to get through things.   The t square here completes in the 9th house, in Virgo. So part of the way the challenge of the squares from Mercury and Saturn to the moon may resolve for J is if he takes his imagination out, to the public, to higher learning, to spiritual search, to publication---or to travel (all those being 9th house things) and if he does so in a way that structures and grounds the flights of fancy into something actual, "objective" and tangible. Or something with the Virgo feel for authenticity: Here's the holy grail of goodness, let me show you it!   (okay, I've obviously been possessed for this reading by someone about 14 years old, sorry gang.)   The 4th house has Pisces as the cusp edge sign and then a bunch of Aries (which will then edge the 5th house). So the imaginative qualities of the moon, the emotional sensitivity and sentimentality and romanticism of heart that we find in Pisces are strongly manifest and nurtured "at home", wherever that may be. And this is a guy who stands on rainbows (or walks on water? nah, probably not)--that is, the imagination, compassion, and intuition are where he is grounded. And again, he will feel best near the water. It is, however, a mere shadow or sliver of Pisces that cusps the 4th house, and there is a hell of a lot of Aries here, including Chiron in Aries. So--when Chiron falls in the 4th house (oho, spotted a Mystic Rectangle!) (just wait)--there may be issues around the home, in the early life, particularly with --usually--the father. And there can be this sense of being a wanderer, being an exile in this life. "where is my true home?" no matter where or how one has found living space. The issues around the father (rarely the mother, sometimes another key nurturing person) are generally like those of a 4th house Saturn placement: the father was absent, was ill, was too busy to interact with the child, was too harsh...things like that. But the exile feeling--that sense of nostalgia for a home that one can just barely touch in one's dreams--this tends to be pretty life long for the 4th house Chiron. As they work through their sense of instability and whatever else drives that poignancy they may work to see that others have home, that no one is uncared for, that no one is lost. This will be particularly strong for J, who has Chiron trine his Mercury. People who have this speak for those who have no ability to speak for themselves; can be humans, can be critters, can be causes--but these people are crusaders with strong hearts.   Chiron in Aries is a fascinating Chiron, because the issues, the sense of loss or bewilderment, focus on the very identity of the person who has this. Who am I? How do I know I really exist as an independent entity? And yet these are the people who most encourage others; who lend to them a strong sense of "of course you can do anything you want; you are great".   Chiron is opposite Pallas. Again, I think this is about making clear the story; understanding and helping others understand: what's life about? What makes sense? What is the story here? Pallas is in Libra, so there is an artistic understanding, and also a sense of mutuality--but we'll get to all that when we reach the extremely crowded 10th house.   The Mystic Rectangle here is the two oppositions: Chiron/Pallas and Mercury/Saturn. (if you looked at the chart and drew lines between these points you would find...yippee, a rectangle). The thing about this pattern (it sounds really nice, doesn't it?) is that people who have it have an innate gift in reconciling and understanding opposites; in taking understanding to a higher level, a kind of unexpected place. The elements that J works with here are Air and Fire, despite his double water Sun and Moon (Scorpio and Pisces). So with lightness of thought and action. With sparkle.   The 5th house has an edge of Aries, no planets. (a lot of Taurus here too). This is the house of children, romance, fun and games, what brings delight, creative self expression. Aries would give the ability and tendency to just rush right in "hi, you're cute, let's go..." or "hey, I think I want to paint now *grabs brush and starts*" Very independent, very much Do It!! But with all this Taurus here as well, he is likely really wanting also some security and endurance; not a bunch of one night stands or fun that just--vanishes.   The 6th house, Taurus cusped, tells us that when need be he will work hard and he will work long, and that his health is basically very good, sturdy. No planets here (all the planets are hiding in the 10th 11th and 12th houses, mostly). Gives maybe skills with his hands in the work place, artistic ability, sensory sensitivity (like has a good color sense, etc).   The 7th house, house of marriage and partnership, has Gemini as its sign. Vesta is here, and Saturn.   Gemini as a 7th house sign...well, these people need to have a lot of variety and a lot going on with their partnerships, of whatever sort. Intellectual connection is key. Communication is vital. And being...free to move about, to not feel constraint or chains--this is crucial. And maybe even more vital to someone with Vesta in the 7th house, because these people just need to get the hell out of partnerships from time to time. No, that doesn't mean that they will not come back and be happy, but they need breaks from all the togetherness, they need the opportunity to act, live, and breathe on their own (and this for an Aries Chiron might be particularly important, because of the fears around being able to be whole and independent). Saturn in Gemini does not want to have many demands placed on him, needs to always feel the door is open, that he can leave at any time, that his schedule is on his terms, that he is not obligated. This doesn't mean that a Saturn in Gemini person won't be responsible or follow through on promises or stay in long term partnerships--but that he must do it of his own free will, that he must do it because it means something to him. He cannot be compelled. Communication is big for a Saturn in Gemini person, must feel free to move, free to say what he likes, free to be heard, free to experience all he desires.   The old truism for a 7th house Saturn is that these folks shouldn't marry before they go through their Saturn return. (a variant of that, which is kind of "fate dictates that..." is that 7th house Saturn people find barriers in the way of early marriage). (I'm still waiting to hear from a 7th house Saturn person who listened to early warnings).] The concept is that since we undergo testing and change in our Saturn return period, and that testing and challenge and change hits in the subjects or concerns of our Saturn's house, since the 7th house is about marriage and partnerships--well, marriage and partnerships are in for rocky times come the return. It is true--no matter where Saturn is--that some long term partnerships end during the Saturn return. And some start; it is not unusual to feel "must get married" or "must get serious about all this" during that time. (and it is also not unusual to have a child during or immediately after the Saturn return; happened to me, with my first house Saturn. Nothing like motherhood to change one's persona, eh?).   Saturn in the 7th house often brings older mentors, sometimes older partners, including but not limited to marriage partners.   So, the 8th house here has Cancer as the sign. And the south node, in Cancer, is here. This is the realm of mystery, of sexuality, of death, of rebirth and regeneration and remaking, of inheritance and connection to traditions, of what we gain through others. With Cancer as the sign, it may be that particularly through women's influence or through maternal gifts, J has benefited. And he is keyed it well to nurturing and tenderness, to compassion, to personalized affection. It is as if he is in some way one of the blessed ones of the mother, if that makes any sense whatsoever, and under stress he can rest in that feeling, in that knowledge. But he does have kind of a--quest laid on his soul--to discover his own truth, and to make that manifest. Materially as well as in the mind or in pretty words or whatever.   The 9th house is Leo cusped. (and holds a bunch of Virgo too). Affinity with drama, with learning that has a dramatic edge, with being admired for his mad skills as a student/teacher/storyteller. The Virgo here will give some attention to details and to putting things in order, but the heart is where there is a lot of flash, a lot of nobility; education, spiritual search, travel of any sort--needs to be done on a wide screen, or with big brush strokes; doesn't take to being all confined or restricted to the bare facts and numbers.   Yet, with a certain paradoxic quality, Virgo is his Midheaven sign and the cusp of the house of career, calling, public image. So he's seen as a devoted, careful, meticulous person who knows what's good and wants to do what's good. Sometimes a Virgo midheaven can give a public image that is kind of untouchable--sexy, but untouchable. The knight in shining armor, the dedicated but ever so attractive young monk (not that Virgo is not sexualized; it is simply that there is this quality of "I hold myself apart a bit" or "I am whole within myself"). But his 10th house is packed with Libra energy and with some pretty heavy planets at that: Pluto, Pallas, Venus, and Uranus in Libra. Venus and Uranus are conjunct, one degree separating them. Pallas is part of the Mystic Rectangle. Pluto makes a sextile to Neptune and a square to Jupiter. whew.   So, to tease this out: Pluto near the midheaven is often associated with healers (not necessarily doctors of medicine; healers of the spirit) and with a lot of transformative energy in the public realm. Pluto in Libra has a new vision of beauty, partnership, harmony, justice--all the Libra obsessions. Pluto sextile Neptune brings in imagination and intuition in a big way to the public life, and it may be a question of "I heal through showing you a new vision". Pluto square Jupiter...well, this one is full of transformative energies, but the challenge is...how do I control this? And there is a sense in which the ideas in the life are real and vital and important. Other people can be all "oh, maybe I believe this, or that, hey, what's the difference?" Someone with Pluto and Jupiter working together (even if they are struggling in a square aspect) is very--well, ideas and beliefs are key. They take them very seriously. And often there is a tendency to change from whatever belief structure the person was brought up with. These people tend to be catalysts for change in other people as well, and should be aware of that.   Pallas in the 10th house--these people are thought by those they meet in public to have the answers. To everything. "where's the best place to get bread?" "what is the meaning of the universe?" "should I marry her?" Strangers will come to them for guidance, and in their career they are the problem solvers (again, at all levels). Pallas in Libra is very artistic, or at least has a sense of good aesthetics, appreciates and understands line and structure and harmony and color and such. For J this skill/perception is increased, because Pallas is so close to Venus (4 degrees) in Libra, and then again it is kind of tweaked, because Uranus with all that originality, eccentricity, verve and delight and change--comes into the picture as well. (I have to tell you I am still wondering about the circus ponies and jugglers; still not sure what is going on with this chart in that way)   (and I should know by now; true, I have a lot of Libra energy and all this Libra energy is kind of dancing with mine, but that isn't enough to explain the sense of glee).   Venus in Libra is elegant. So charming, so adept at the right gesture, the perfect gift. So appreciative when someone else is as perceptive and charming. Everyone thinks Libra is sooo romantic, and--well, Libra doesn't mind the pretty things, but Venus in Libra actually has a kind of intellectual appreciation. Good taste (maybe not so good as a Virgo Venus, but still good--the thing with Libra Venus is that sometimes she gets swayed but surface prettiness and elegance and charm; can be dazzled by the pretty surfaces). A guy with a Libra Venus is going to be a sucker for beauty and charm (sorry, of course J will also have great discernment, and so on--and I'm pretty sure kaki is pretty, so no harm). Venus in the 10th house grants the gift of looking great in public. The public just falls in love with a Venus in the 10th house person; they can't help it. Art or something "artistic" is often the career of choice for a 10th house Venus (but this 10th house is so crowded J has a bunch of choices going on).   Uranus in Libra sees beauty in the oddest places and strangest things. Takes a very open and unusual approach to partnerships, to marriage, to harmony, to justice. Quite eccentric. Can be artistic and at a kind of genius level. When Uranus is in the 10th house the career has big changes in it (and this is reinforced by Pluto here--we are talking changes maybe outside the personal will and effort--like the place one works suddenly gets swallowed by an earthquake. Sounds odd, but...yeah, like that.) (doesn't have to be all loss and destruction though--could also be "and I was walking and I bumped into this person and he owned this place and he said 'hey, you are wonderful, I'll give you a million to come do interesting things in the park with the circus ponies' watching" (I want circus ponies, sorry).   Uranus in the 10th house looks unusual in public. "You are so strange" "You are a genius" Sometimes a career that involves electronics, new tech, etc can be indicated. Also sudden fame.   Venus and Uranus are only a degree apart. (Liz Taylor has this conjunction in her 7th house I think, in Aries. ahem.) So, when Venus/Uranus are living together there can be a tendency to love the strange and the unusual and the eccentric, both as an intellectual matter ("the court poetry of the 14th century is so fascinating") and as a preference in lovers. Relationships and people who are too...ordinary, calm, secure, unchanging --are paradoxically unlikely to endure, and when they end they end suddenly. What endures is sort of a dance. A partner who can keep up with the dance--well, that will endure. But it is likely going to take a very unusual person (and I'm waiting to check out kaki and see--I remember she had an unusual chart herself, which bodes quite well). Now, since this is the 10th house, this could all be more about the public image and the career than about tender intimacies, but wherever Venus is, intimacies are kind of implied or promised. The pair is trine the 7th house Saturn, so--if the communication Gemini Saturn needs is there, then there are likely strong partnerships, and they help the career tremendously. Saturn will tend to stabilize the scattered energy that we'd otherwise expect from this pair.   Libra is the sign, barely, on the 11th house--house of wishes, house of groups and friendships and those barely whispered life goals we hope don't haunt us at the end (deathbed scene: "I always really meant to be an artist". So much better to do it now.)   So--omigod. How did I not see that? *gathers self together*. What a chart. Okay, the Scorpio Sun, which we are going to be meeting soon, in the 12th house, is unaspected. Well, la la la, I don't see that right now, we'll deal with it tomorrow. Or, um, later.   Back to the 11th house. Libra as a cusp sign is going to give, you betcha, charming friends. Mars in Libra leads off the 11th house, quickly followed by Ceres in Scorpio and much later by Juno in Scorpio (lots of Scorpio in the 11th house, Libra is only the sugar coating and the engine of power here.) Mars in Libra is a strategic thinker, a debater. Sees all the possiblities. Actually, Mars/Uranus/Venus (working backwards there) are kind of a triad of energy. Let me see..yeah, maybe. We might be dealing with some of that interesting charms birdies out of trees and makes people just fall at his feet energy of Venus/Mars. It is complicated by the wildness of Uranus in the middle; this is--I don't know, I keep getting this odd flashes of something--the magician, the enchanter. Energy with an air sign Mars tends to be used mostly in intellectual ways (though also in moving about a bunch; there can be restlessness, physical restlessness while the mind is working). Mars in Libra is generally pretty sweet; people think "oh, not a confrontational person"; if there is even a hint of injustice happening those same people will be amazed, because Mars in Libra is a warrior when injustice is happening. Especially, here, to his friends, to those under his protection (very protective energy here). The conjunct to Uranus might give a temper that, although usually held well in control, can snap instantly (again, in the face of injustice, unfairness).   He is well nurtured in groups, when he is in touch with those goals of his, when he is with friends. (Ceres in the 11th house). Ceres in Scorpio is well nurtured by mysteries and sexuality and power, and he is likely to encounter all those nice things in the context of groups, friends. He draws natural allies from within his groups of friends, or in the context of his goals, and they are likely either actual Scorpios or people who have a very strong Pluto (and/or Mars) in their charts; people who aren't afraid of the depths, of passion, of authentic connection, of power. (Juno in Scorpio, 11th house).   Okay, 12th house. Scorpio cusp. Scorpio is a pretty comfortable sign on the 12th house, given the fact that this is the house of secrets, the hidden, the denied, the repressed--and Scorpio would love to uncover all those things. When the sun falls in the 12th house we usually discover that the person has a need to find out--needs to understand more than the surface, really feels uncomfortable if his intuition says "something is hidden from me". And that will be true no matter what the sign, but will be kind of increased by a Scorpio Sun. However, this is an unaspected Sun. People with the Sun unaspected (and the other Scorpio who immediately comes to mind with an unaspected Sun is Hillary Clinton--in her case I think the sun is in the 4th house, but I seem to recall there being controversies about her actual time of birth)--unaspected Sun people sometimes have this...need to really prove themselves. In conjunction with an Aries in Chiron this would come out in terms of who am I? And perhaps, being a 12th house sun, in terms of "aha, I will fool everyone and not be fooled; I am the one behind the mask" (very--Scarlet Pimpernel or something like that, if you know the old story). Sometimes the energy of an unaspected planet just floods the rest of the chart; with the Sun there could be an abundance of energy and "hey, I'm here!!" and yet perhaps a lack of focus. The Scorpio (or Pluto colored) allies would help with this, quite a lot.   J's inner "female" energy is quite Scorpio as well, with the Black Moon Lilith here--so there is an abundance of sexual energy, passionate commitment, emotional authenticity--and possibly a slowness to trust--that he can tap into within his inner soul as well as in that elusive "self" that he keeps thinking he...maybe gets, and then changes. Neptune is here as well, though in Sagittarius and quite close to the ascendant. In fact, Neptune is conjunct Mercury, those the rising degree comes between them; the mind is quite fanciful and mobile, very intuitive. Yet the imagination and intuition is...focused quite deeply, into dreams, into other realms (sometimes 12th house Neptune people are actually psychic).   The Lilith in Scorpio placement gives an ease with--well, an ease with death and life; this is a very courageous sort of Kali energy. Guys who have it can cope well with extremely strong women who scare a lot of people; they enjoy that strength and honesty and passion.   Neptune in Sagittarius is of course the draw to animals, lost souls, kittens, wild critters from the woods, lost children, anyone. (I just had another Neptune in Sagittarius customer today; yep--all the kitties appeared as if summoned and my rescued pitbull fell on her feet (across the customer's feet--a method of claiming and controling. Some find it charming. I try to discourage it, but laughing and asking someone's birthdate isn't the best dog training). (maybe I should post a sign: If you were born between this date and this date, please note: animals within will love you a lot; proceed with caution. Dog cookies optional.)   Because Neptune aspects the rising degree, J may have some of that mobility, that chameonlike quality and glamour that Neptune gives. Probably not the "oh, you will do everything I want you to" that a first house Neptune gets--but an ability to shapeshift in someway. (this reading is downright odd, I must say.). (and I'll be back in a bit, if not tonight, then hopefully tomorrow. transits, comparisions, more bits and pieces.)   *****   (heh, terrible of me--here I am with an impatient Aries moon requesting patience from others. But I appreciate kaki not bursting into the middle of the reading going "no way!" or "how did you know?")   So--I have kakiphony's chart (I looked at it 2 years ago, how time flies) and her J's chart together all cozily for the purpose of seeing where the two energies intersect; what is driving the relationship.   Remember, he's a Scorpio Sun, Sagittarius Rising, Pisces Moon person She is a Leo Sun, Aquarian Moon, Gemini Rising person   She's--in those three areas--Fire and Air; he's Water and Fire. (but of course both charts are more complicated than that).   Now, remember that J. has that strong t square to his Pisces moon, probably the major aspect pattern in his chart (well, the Mystic Rectangle is pretty major too).   When we put the two charts on top of each other, we find another major t square happening. And this one is made of his Pisces Moon opposite her Virgo Mercury (and remember I said that the completion point for his natal t square is there in Virgo? Her mind, her discernment, in essence shows the way for that completion) and both of those points squaring his Mercury at the ascendant--which is conjunct her Neptune. In Sagittarius     Where would this t square find a completion point to work out all that energy--which is energy of mystery, intuition, imagination, fantasy? Within Gemini. The sign that is his 7th house sign of partnership, and her own sign of persona.   This bodes well for a relationship that is based somehow in intuitive sympathy and communication, both between the two of them, and in the outer world.   When we throw Chiron into the mix I can see a Grand Trine between the charts, which is very flowing energy, and it is a Grand Fire Trine: J's Chiron in Aries, kaki's Leo Sun, and the Neptune/Mercury Sagittarian aspect (plus his ascendant). The relationship is likely to be based in action (and fun action at that) and in healing; her Leo nature is embraced by his innate healing and nurturing instincts, and her presence in his life helps him work through any of those Chiron insecurities; it is as if they are both saying to each other "sure, I see you, and what I see is pretty great".   They have a Uranus/Mars conjunction (her Uranus, his Mars). This is very much a "omigod, I just fell in love" sort of energy between two people; it feels extremely hot, extremely compelling; it is the stuff the great romances are made of. Whether the great romance endures beyond the "let's leave everything and everyone and run away together" impulse depends on other things in the chart; you need stabilizing influences to have a Uranus relationship keep going. But kaki has an Aquarian moon (Uranus being the Aquarian ruler) so understands the Uranus energy in her heart. And this conjunction falls very close to her north node of the moon; it is as if it is fated; "something to help me understand my path in life" (which is through Scorpio energies; and J certainly has his fair share of Scorpio happening).   (I had an unsupported Uranus/Mars relationship once--that is, I had that lightning-bolt through the heart. I've been in and out of love many times in my long life, but I must say nothing felt like that one. And it was unsuitable in a dozen ways. It was, however, very vitalizing at all sorts of levels. Had I happened on this relationship earlier in my life I probably would have given up a lot to pursue it; as it was I was a little too wise and experienced to go for it--and the guy in question was much younger, with kids (as was I). The pangs of that, however, endured until, thank the goddess, the person left my area. *sigh*. Very instructive in what Uranus can do to an otherwise rational soul. Of course, the dude was a double Pisces.)   Probably a lot of crushes are Uranus or Neptune based.   But in this couple, the Uranus energy is simply part of a bigger picture, with many connections. That point of the Uranus/Mars conjunct is also opposite kaki's Chiron/Black Moon in Taurus; this relationship may help her claim or reclaim her very lusty and abundant and sensory center (on the surface she may appear kind of intellectually driven, but she has a lot of, um, juice and passion there beneath the surface). And it will certainly engage his power and sympathy (Ceres for him is also here close to Mars)   Her Aquarian Moon is trine his Libra Pluto (in the 10th house) which may give support to his career, or at any rate emotional understanding and by in and an open mind.   His Saturn is close to her ascendant. It may seem strange to think that Saturn connections are desireable in a love relationship, but they are, they help give long lasting relationships. We learn from our lovers and mates, and when we have Saturn working for us we learn well. (it isn't always fun, I must say, but it is good).   Her Juno is at his midheaven; he may (in his public guise) seem like her ideal partner; or she may foster his career with all his heart.   I haven't much knowledge or experience of the Davidson relationship chart concept, but hey, it's available on astro.com (the concept has something to do with creating the relationship's chart based on some mathematical relationship between the elements of the two charts). So I did it (or the computer did it) and the relationship chart thus produced looks pretty nice: a lot of concentration in the house of marriage, Juno and Ceres conjunct at the ascendant (your relationship, if you care, kaki, is, according to Davidson, a Libra with an Aquarian moon and Aquarius rising; full of intellectual delights and pleasures. The Libra sun, conjunct Venus and Pluto, falls in the 7th house.     So, what about J's current transits?   Well, the current Mercury retrograde is just across from his risingsign Mercury; so it is likely hitting him fairly hard. Could be great for "I have suddenly achieved intuitive understanding of my partnerships in life and of myself, this is great". Or it could be "where did I put my keys?"   Venus is also in transit through the 7th house, so it is a good time in partnerships in general, a lot of potential sweetness.   Jupiter is in the 2nd house conjunct his north node; good for expanding what is valued in the life, good for "I must really work on what I really care about and my true path in life".   Neptune and Uranus are both in the 3rd house (at the start and end) so there could be--well, original and sympathetic communication, and/or the people around him, particularly those "like siblings" are needful and eccentric (could work both ways for sure).   Saturn is in the 9th house. J. may have been experiencing some delays or disappointments involving long range travel, higher education, spiritual search...breaking beyond the boundaries of his life. And they are likely to continue for a while; this is a period of completion of one phase of his life; when Saturn hits his midheaven at the end of Virgo will be a harvest time--new responsiblities and possible success, or "okay, let's reconsider it all". (in a moment I'll see if I can see when that crossover into the 10th house is going to be happening--not for quite a while I think, Saturn doesn't sprint.) Looks like late October,2009.   Right now the Moon is conjunct Venus. Just for a moment. Pretty romantic.   (Kaki, by the way, is looking great these days, with Venus in her first house. Pluto is in J's first house, so he has a lot of power as people meet him and is garnering strong first impressions--can be negative sometimes, but I doubt it; mostly people should simply be charmed by the guy). Kaki has Jupiter in her 8th house currently, enhancing 8th house matters (sexuality, inheritance, joint opportunities, etc). Uranus is floating still in her 10th house (changes in career and in the public image); Neptune in the 9th house (good for intuitive studies) Mars is currently conjunct her Sun--lots of energy there. And Pluto is in her house of partnerships--well, could bring some strong people, some transformations. Trine her own Venus (that is good, and kind of sexy, actually). Saturn in the 4th: must pay attention to the home, the foundation, family, one's roots (this Saturn in Virgo period will be hitting a number of her planets in the 4th house; look to it as an opportunity for building for the future, kaki, don't let it get you into a state of "why can't I always do what I want?"--then you'll be fine.   Great charts. (I still haven't figured out why J's makes me smile; soooo strange.).

my natal chart (jarvenpa May 2006)

And hello, kakiphony, whose foxy avi is awesome, welcome, my dear, to your Saturn return. Have you been feeling it?   Kakiphony's Saturn is in Leo conjunct her Sun in the 3rd house, opposing her 9th house moon in Aquarius, and if I am reading charts correctly she is just about exactly at the exact Saturn return point (the effect, though, goes on for some time on either side of the exact aspect).   Third house themes (and 9th house themes) would be where we'd expect to see kakiphony being nudged into a new status; actualizing communication skills? education? (relationships with siblings, those who are like siblings?). Figuring out where the network really is? Sometimes during the return things/people/places that were very important to us lose their central importance to make room for the new. This is not without grief and struggle, unless of course you are all wise and ascended and stuff (I wasn't). Ceres is also in the 3rd house, between Saturn and the Sun; she may have a gift for nuturing communications; she may have taken care of siblings or neighbors (or have been cared for herself by neighbors/siblings). As Saturn reconnects with Ceres any early lacks she may have felt (like "hey, there wasn't really ANY nuturing going on, often", or "well, that was needless sentimentality") is going to be tweaked a bit. Good thought for this period is "yes, I deserve admiration and care, and I can give admiration and care"   Since kakiphony has Saturn conjunct her sun, however, she may go through these changes with more ease than some (it feels familiar to her nature, or at least her conscious sense of who she is).   Okay, it might just be because writing is part of my soul, and I have the sun/moon opposition across the 3rd and 9th houses, so I could be projecting something here--but I must blurt out that when I looked at this chart the first thing I thought was "she's a writer".   There's that Uranus conjunct the north node in Scorpio in the 5th house. Okay, doesn't have to be writing, but for goodness sakes, something with the 5th ("it is your nature to go forth and gamble wildly!!") (nah. I think something more creative, but playful--which will be interesting for your Leo self and your Gemini rising and your Aquarian moon). Midheaven is in Aquarius. Come on now, surely things of the mind matter to you a lot, yes? Maybe???   With a Saturn/Sun 3rd house conjunct though, it may be that you had early doubts about your ability to communicate (3rd house) or even that the full shine of a dramatic Leo sun soul was shaded by demands (from parents, from life) for control, discipline, early responsiblity (for siblings, perhaps, given that this is the 3rd house). If this was so, the return of Saturn to his original place may, once it passes, leave you more certain of yourself in this arena. Saturn is one of the points of a T square (Uranus is the central point, squaring both moon and saturn and interestingly--well, actually you have a grand square, because Chiron makes the fourth point, in early Taurus, in the 11th house (wishes, and associations with friends/acquaintances).   (I can't believe how many forumites have Chiron in the 11th. Good grief. Early trauma in groups...I guess the brilliant, geeky kids have all flocked now to the BPAL forum and found comfort) (I'm frankly surprised my own Chiron is not in the 11th, actually)   Home ground, your roots, your traditional values, your refuge--4th house--is very intimately important in your chart, with Leo on the cusp (drama, generousity in the home) and lots of elegant Virgo going on (Venus, Mercury, Mars; Venus and Mercury are conjunct; you have a taste for the truly good in literature--this doesn't mean, by the way, that you can't enjoy trash, but that you really know authentically beautiful things, books, and so on--and have a home in which that sense of discernment is apparent). You may feel freest to express yourself in your home, or on your homeground, in your own territory (although with a 9th house moon you could certainly benefit from travel and widening your horizons in all ways). And you may have an elegance of discourse, or a tenderness (Venus conjunct Mercury), as well as the ability to take action. (mars in the 4th) on behalf of your roots or your home.   And you've got transformative and demanding Pluto in the 5th, in Libra (plus the Uranus/north node)(in Scorpio)...creativity (or love affairs, or children, or...) may be very much all or nothing affairs for you--there is the tendency to really go into something, and then...pause a long while--and then restart. (it's okay, really, creative flow--or love affairs--don't have to be all steady and boring, do they?)   Neptune in Sag in the 6th is super responsive to the environment (at a trivial level, you may have allergies and so on, at a more deep or metaphoric level, you need to have as little stress as you can manage--no, do not stress about this). This imaginative Neptune is in relation to practically everything else in your chart; when chosing (assuming you have a choice) work for pay (as opposed to career, which is Aquarian, and hey, you should be out there publishing something, I think...or, okay, traveling or teaching or thinking higher thoughts)--needs to use your imagination and/or be something in which you tangibly feel you are helping some poor unfortunates (of any species or anything: it can be saving paper clips from being thrown out, could be anything at all--the importance is how you perceive it. You must perceive that your tasks are imaginative and engaging or helpful and preferably all of those things. Or you will be miserable, and your health will show it.   Jupiter in the 12th is a real ace in the hole (it's in Taurus): this is kind of the last minute rescue, the fairy godperson who drops in when needed. Oddly, you may not be overtly cheerful (particularly with the Saturn/Sun conjunct) (and with the hopefulness of Jupiter kind of hidden from you) but there is this wonderful sort of second wind effect: all may seem over...and then, by golly, yes, I think she can do it! Jupiter very helpfully is trine to your Aquarian moon and to mars (inner self and action thereby facilitated), square to Venus (okay, a little bit of the brakes on--or, conversely, flashes of overenthusiasm) (Jupiter in Taurus might expand things like your taste for music)   Actually, rethink that comment on cheerfulness. A Gemini ascendant will at least appear very cheerful (and often younger than her years--an effect that can last well into your life).   kakiphony, if you are not a writer, kindly consider at least starting to keep a journal or something. During a Saturn return (in the 3rd house no less) would be an excellent time to do something like this in any case--and in your case I think particularly apt.

More SW Questions

Anything from Villainess that strikes your fancy, either from their update or from the GC? A lot of the scents seem interesting, but I don't use bar soap much, and their perfume oils tend to smell a little off on me. Bath stuff is great. Don't use sorbetto stuff much.   If I wanted to include something for your fluffball, what would be good, and what should I stay away from? No hard treats or toys. I have a dog that likes soft squeaky things.   Would homemade treats be something you'd like for your dog/cat? No thank you   If you get a long weekend this weekend... what are you doing with it? Staying in? Going out? Family? Friends? If you don't get a long weekend, are you OK with that, or a little sad? (If you are Canadian, apply this to last weekend). It was mine and my husband's one year wedding anniversary, so we celebrated that more than Canada day.   Would you be interested in getting a kombucha starter and instructions on how to use it to easily make your own fermented, probiotic tea drink? Maybe? It really depends on how it tastes and if it can be sent to Canada. I am not a fan of beer... so if it tastes anything like that (or in any way bitter or sour) then no thanks.   Anything interesting from the new Paintbox Soapworks update for you? I think anything from them that I want is on my Etsy W/L   Would you like to received a couple of french regional specialities like Crème de marrons (basically sweet chesnut purée with a hint of vanilla aroma - can be eaten as a spread or with yoghurt, used in pastries - although I demolish the stuff with a spoon, because I freaking love it), other preserves/sweet things, tapenade/rouille/aioli/dried tomato caviar/other kinds of savoury spreads and condiments? Sure! The puree sounds especially nommy.   What one item would make your kitchen feel 'complete'? It can be anything - gadget, ingredient, art piece, furniture, etc. Hmm, though it is too much for SW, a stand mixer would be a huge step towards a complete kitchen. Also, more cookbooks or recipes and spices.

From: Summer 2013 Switch Witch...

Thursday July 4/13 If I wanted to include something for your fluffball, what would be good, and what should I stay away from? My dog is really picky. She would love a new pretty collar or bandana, but she doesn't like a lot of treats. If you made something homemade, we don't do wheat but we do other grains. She loves peanut butter. Would homemade treats be something you'd like for your dog/cat? It would depend on the treat. Pika likes peanut butter.   If you get a long weekend this weekend... what are you doing with it? Staying in? Going out? Family? Friends? If you don't get a long weekend, are you OK with that, or a little sad? (If you are Canadian, apply this to last weekend). I'm already off for the summer, so it doesn't matter to me. Would you be interested in getting a kombucha starter and instructions on how to use it to easily make your own fermented, probiotic tea drink? Sorry, no.   Wednesday July 3/13   Anything interesting from the new Paintbox Soapworks update for you? nothing specific but I love soap in general.   What about recycled sari silk yarn, witches and witchees? Only if you make me something from it. I have no skills. Sooo, the Blooddrop update (Aviary and Summer Simplicities). Anything you'd like from there? Chinese Nightingale, Kea, Kestrel (American), Rose-Breasted Cockatoo None of these are must haves but I'd take someone's castaways for sure! Tuesday July 2/13 Every package has to have something blue in it. Blue can also be used to describe more risque humor...how would you rate your general sense of humor? Are you strictly PG-13, R-rated, NC-17? I'm probably R rated.   Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? Yes. All the puzzles are belong to me.   Source: Summer 2013 Switch Witch...

SW Summer 2013 Help Part 2, Take 2!

Oops, went to edit and it deleted itself...   Knitted things - love or hate? Scarves and/or washclothes are quick and easy.....would you want one of these? If so, what color(s)? Are you allergic to any fiber? Don't have an opinion of knitted either way. Though I have a cat who eats random natural fibers, so synthetic might be better.   Canned goods? It's been so sticky here, everything fresh has been going bad, so I literally cannot fit any more onto our canned good shelves.   Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? Oh, this could get hard...as mentioned before, I love and could use more Thai Chai and Cara's Draco Blend. After that though... I'd actually love to have the HP or Firefly sampler tin sets. I'd also like to try any of the Masters teas. After that, I have no idea...there's too much to love! I will say I don't tend to like the herbal fruit blends by themselves (though in blends it's fine), nor do I like actual chocolate in my tea (by which I mean, chips no, but the Chocolate Chai was great).   Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? Apart from reading as much as possible? No. Can't even say my family has a certain place we visit, because we prefer to go new places as much as possible.   What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? Sting (Please Don't Buy This) Sober Tea Pot Jamie, Arya, or Cersei I have no idea why I want this, but I do   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Oddly, no. Though I've really been eyeing the expansions to Arkham Horror recently. ETA: OMG! How did I forget about The Tower of Orthanc LEGO Set?!?!?! I was never directly given LEGO sets as a child (I was the only girl, so I only got girly things), but I was always jealous of my brother's larger LEGO sets...which he would loose and break pieces of. So as a grown woman, I can have a few sets, right?!, and OMG! The Tower is TWO FEET TALL! AND it has TREEBEARD! AND it woud look amazing with my Hobbit Hole set.   Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? Unless the voice acting is amazing, I'm not that interested in them. Though if there is an awesome one out there, it would find a good home!   Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Love! Apart from white, pretty much anything but Hershey's is good! Though I do love Ghiridelli's, especially the peppermint bark.   Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? I had seen some other one's I wouldn't wear, but those are cute! I'd just be afraid of killing the poor plant, but I think most of their looking pretty hardy!   I know the question about personal style was included in the questionnaire, but is there anything that could give your witch a better sense of your style/fashion or decoration preferences? Like tumblrs, pictures you like, websites, stores (or brands) you like or would like to be able to shop at and so forth? My Tumblrs tend to be all funny gifs...oops. Though, in general, my favorite place to shop (being plus sized) is Torrid. I really do like most of their stuff, from some of the more frilly girly stuff to the t-shirts to the style of their under things (though I'm LB bra girl, so comfy and supportive!).   Do you like/wear makeup? If so what brands/colors/types? I tend to only to really wear eye shadow and liner, and lipstick. Brand wise, I don't really care, though I recently fell in love with a Stella eye shadow set I bought. For eyes: purples, grays, nudes, occasionally blues. For lips: tend towards plum and berry type colors, though I can pull off some darker reds and pinks. Rimmel London's Metallic Seduction is my current daily go to.   Is there anything special I could get you from New York City? I'd love something cool from the Cloisters...they are towards the top of my favorite museums list, and I've been to far too many museums.   Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? I recently got my first Moleskin (the Hobbit unlined one) and love it even if it is very small! Some good paper quality journals would be loved and filled with drawings if you sent me any Witch!   How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? Umm...glitter on stuff is okay! Glitter bombs...nope. I still find glitter places from past crafting accidents, I don't need to add more!   Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? Not really, though every now and again I do enjoy playing with a 3D puzzle (though I don't own any).   If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Ummmm, so many choices! Eep! Green Tea, Apricot, White Oak, and Sweet Cream sounds like a nice combo.   Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? Love the idea, never got around to backing anything. There was this cool lamp that was book shaped and folded down to look like one that I think might still be up...hmmm...   If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? I don't, sorry!   If you're a spinner and have any fiber wishes, what would you like? Dyed or natural? Do you need dye? colors? brand? Not a spinner in the fiber sense.   Sooo, the Blooddrop update (Aviary and Summer Simplicities). Anything you'd like from there? Ones that sound like I'd like them: Black Heron, Chinese Nightingale, Magpie, Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, and White Peahen.   What about recycled sari silk yarn, witches and witchees? I wouldn't know what to do with it, but it sounds amazing, and I might have someone who could make me something.   Do you have anything that you use on a daily basis that you would always welcome more of? Peppermint oil lotion on the feet...and that's it. I'm not very consistent day to day.   Anything from Villainess that strikes your fancy, either from their update or from the GC? Scents that strike my fancy from their site: Blood, Crushed, Ginger Snapped, Killer Beez, Paradise Misplaced, Scintilating, and Ahna.   Hogwarts House? I lean towards Ravenclaw or Slytherin. I did join Pottermore, three times over, taking note of what questions I got and what i answered each time, and despite answering the same questions with the same answers, I was placed in Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin in that order. Make of that what you will.

"You go back to her and I go back to black"

Hi Witch!   I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? Both sound fabulous, actually!   If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. http://www.hausofglo...er-single-notes Beeswax, honey, gardenia, and and white amber!   Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? Meh. I'm not crazy about Kickstarter.   If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration. This for my Macbook. This because it's just beautiful. This because I love pepper. This because I love lotuses and need jewelry holders desperately. And this because I love pomegranates.   Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists. Sure!   How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? Please no glitter   Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? I can always used lined journals!   Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? This is definitely not something I would be into   Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? I love popcorn, but I don't think I'm adventurous enough to have bacon cheeseburger popcorn.   Question: I make my own hair gloss, would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. Sure! I'd love that.

I love that gif so much. satay sauce:   Monday July 1/13 I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? I don't like ketchup, but I love odd flavoured chips. We have both ketchup and dill pickle chips in Wisconsin, though.   If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. This is too overwhelming for me right now. I love red musk, black tea, beeswax and honey, cake, fig, sweet cream, vanilla sugar, and amber. You could work from that, right?   QUESTION! Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? Maybe. I haven't really done it. I am a teacher so I tend to do donor's choose.   QUESTION! If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration. 1. beanforest magnets; 2. this ring: http://www.etsy.com/listing/82708420/hydrangea-stacking-ring-green-peridot?ref=col_view&atr_uid=5585810 3. this dress for my two year old: http://www.etsy.com/listing/79309984/pearl-silk-tie-back-top-willow?ref=col_view&atr_uid=5585810 4. this concept, if not this exact ring: http://www.etsy.com/listing/71229400/vintage-sterling-silver-flip-ring?ref=col_view 5. this dress: http://www.etsy.com/listing/48823165/mossy-garden-hand-dyed-ragdoll-party?ref=col_view 6. this hat: http://www.etsy.com/listing/30383188/oversized-beehive-beret-hat-in?ref=col_view   How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? love it Do you want/need/like/collect journals? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? Yes, yes, not, nothing oniony, weird is good but yummy is better.   Question: I make my own hair gloss, would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. This is my question, but I want all the hair glosses.   Source: Summer 2013 Switch Witch...

Switch Witch Summer 2013 Help, Part 3

Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? The triple (Newgrange) spiral.   When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? Chocolate. A nice meal out if I have the time.   Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type (Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored, etc...)? I can't think of any that I want so much as to justify the expense of shipping.   If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I don't knit or crochet.   What styles of artwork do you like? Usually Impressionist or abstract.   If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? Maybe (but I'd have to start cooking again).   Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? I'm really leery of Mexican vanilla's history of adulteration, and I don't really need any more jewelry (I fear I wouldn't wear any of these).   Is there anything from the [Conjure Oils] Oddment Emporium you would like? I already placed my order with Conjure Oils, thanks.   What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? The only one that comes immediately to mind is the recent King Mandarin single note LE.   What is your favorite color? Yellow. Nice, bright, sunflower yellow.   What is your favorite season? Autumn   If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? Central Paris, probably the 1re or 6me arrondissement. Or Vancouver, BC.   Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? Yes, but that is such a common occurrence that I have my routine. So no, thank you. I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you? Since I haven't looked it up, I have no idea if there's anything that would interest me. Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? A car bra for my brand new car. (Of course, the front end had a thorough coating of bugs by the time I got it home from the dealer, so it's already a little late for that.)   Would any witchee be interested in this comic? or any of her three comics? Sorry, I'm not into comics or manga or graphic novels.   Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? No, not really.   I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? Maybe, but I can check the grocery stores myself.   What do you love about summer (even if it's your least-favorite season)? Fresh fruits & produce.   For those of you who are big readers: Are there any books that just came out (like within the last two months) or are about to come out during this round that you're really looking forward to? Not necessarily "really looking forward to", but the new Gaiman sounds like it might be interesting.   I know there's been a question about favorite quotes but this is specific: Do you have a quote that's not more than, say, a dozen words long that you would like in a cross-stitch? Both of the quotes I provided earlier would fit.   Dear Witchee: If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? No.   So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? Maybe a bar of the soap.   Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? I don't have any, and I wouldn't say that I love them. Most of them I just don't care for the subject matter.   TAL update on etsy. Is there anything you want/need? I took very good care of myself already, thank you.   I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? ALL THE DARK ROCA ARE BELONG TO ME!!!!!   I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? I'm not that fond of Oberto products.   How do you feel about home-canned goods? A bit leery, although pickles might be OK.   Do you like BPTP clothing? Not that fond of it. What size do you wear of: Baby-doll T's I don't wear them; they don't come in large-enough sizes. Regular T's size XL in the Trading Post crewneck t-shirts yoga pants again, I don't wear these because they don't come in large-enough sizes   Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? I usually don't wear the BPTP t-shirts that I do have. The only one that I come close to regretting that I didn't buy is this year's Moon of the Terrible t-shirt (crewneck, size XL). Or other clothes from BPTP? none   What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? nothing, really (unless you come across a Goldfish Pool or Forbidden Brides scent locket, but again, I probably wouldn't get around to actually wearing it)   Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I almost never watch movies. I definitely am not interested in horror, action movies, or anything that might induce nightmares or even raise my pulse rate. Preferred format would be DVD.   Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? I don't have a tea wishlist, and I'm too lazy to come up with one.   Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? Not really, unless making every attempt to stay in air-conditioned environments counts.   What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? Again, I don't have a Think Geek wishlist. I haven't even really dared to look at their website since I caved and bought myself the Death Star tea infuser.   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Himalayan monastery Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) No. I cannot concentrate on them. My attention wanders.   Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Love! Primarily dark chocolate. Also like chocolate and fruit(-flavor) combinations, although I'm wary of items that have little fruit seeds in them – there's a story behind that about a Godiva dark chocolate and raspberry bar, and years of follow-up dental work.   Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? Neither one. But I probably wouldn't wear it & it would die of neglect.   Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon Cheeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? Those all sound interesting, but I often regret eating popcorn as I struggle to get the hulls out from between my teeth and under my gums (not to mention the risks of biting down hard on unpopped kernels).   Would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. No, thank you. I don't use hair glosses or detanglers.   I know the question about personal style was included in the questionnaire, but is there anything that could give your witch a better sense of your style/fashion or decoration preferences? Like tumblrs, pictures you like, websites, stores (or brands) you like or would like to be able to shop at and so forth? Sorry, I don't have any tumblrs or Pinterest boards or suchlike. I tried to provide enough help in my questionnaire; that includes some websites that I like.   Do you like/wear makeup? If so what brands/colors/types? I don't really wear make-up (thank you, Florida heat & humidity!). So I don't really need any more.   Is there anything special I could get you from New York City? The Morgan Library. Oh, you say it isn't available?   Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? I like journals so much that I already have quite a collection of unused journals just waiting for their chance (all unlined, by the way).   Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. Any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists? Something along those lines might be cute. I have a weakness for Renaissance Faires, and I've already mentioned my liking for local crafts & such. How do you feel about glitter? Does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? My skin is crawling just thinking of the clean-up effort, and the pain of stepping on missed, pointy glitter stars, and getting glitter on the bottom of my feet inside my pantyhose, and so on and so forth.   Do you like Kickstarter? I am far too fond of Kickstarter. It's addictive. Are there any projects up that you really like? I have backed projects in all but one category, although a lot of them seem to be food. Right now I'm backing two projects that are still underway: Wood & Wine, and Hot Winter: an all Organic, Heirloom Chile Sauce.   If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration.   1) handmade moccasin boots 2) lacy leather mask 3) fairy tale print 4) I already bought this bead 5) ring with raw diamonds and, standing in for a multitude of similar items, candle If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. I do not even dare to look.   Dear witchee, I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? Probably yes. Ketchup does not sound terribly interesting, and I know that I do not care for salt & vinegar, but I am fond of jalapeno flavored chips and of Kettle Chips' Thai Spice.   Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? For the most part, yet, although I don't really take the time to do such things now (and I would have to clear enough space to assemble a jigsaw puzzle). I don't do Sudoku, though.   Every package has to have something blue in it. Blue can also be used to describe more risque humor...how would you rate your general sense of humor? Are you strictly PG-13, R-rated, NC-17? Not against blue, per se, but would prefer that it be kept fairly mild, somewhere between PG-13 and R-rated. As I've said before, I don't like humor where the entire point of the joke is that it's dirty. I adore the humor in Bodyscapes. The problem is that although I own four of them, I don't have the courage to display them!   DEAR FIBER AND YARN PEOPLE: I am going back to Paradise Fibers today. They have like almost every type of fiber roving and dye and stuff available. If you're a spinner and have any fiber wishes, what would you like? Dyed or natural? Do you need dye? colors? brand? Right now, I have no use for such things, although taking a spinning class is on my list of things to do. I already have a lovely Gotland fleece from New Zealand waiting for me to take that class!   Do you have anything that you use on a daily basis that you would always welcome more of? Nothing in particular comes to mind (that I haven't already stocked up on, or that wouldn't keep).   Sooo, the Blooddrop update (Aviary and Summer Simplicities). Anything you'd like from there? Another "I don't dare to look!"   What about recycled sari silk yarn, witches and witchees? I don't think I would have a use for it right now.

I got the most awesome Marvel moleskine type journals. Those really are the best, compact and I can put all the things inside.   Do you like/wear makeup? If so what brands/colors/types? Urban Decay is my go to brand, I'm trying to branch out into more but I tend to stick with UD, Illamasqua, Tarte & Makeup Forever.   Is there anything special I could get you from New York City? Something from the public library, or leave something in a book there. Like a positive message/fun fortune. Okay this might be weird but I really want to see if their toilet paper has adds on it lol!   I know the question about personal style was included in the questionnaire, but is there anything that could give your witch a better sense of your style/fashion or decoration preferences? Like tumblrs, pictures you like, websites, stores (or brands) you like or would like to be able to shop at and so forth?   Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends?   Knitted things - love or hate? Scarves are one of the only things I can knit >.<   Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? Stars, the constellations Orion & Cassiopeia are important to me. But stars in general hold a special place. Dragonflies & rainbows.   I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound?I am game for anything! I'm from michigan so I remember the first time I got my hands on Dill Pickle chips...It is still a love affair I hold dear to my heart. And I still dip my regular chips in ketchup. >.<   If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? I'm more along the lines of r & NC-17. I curse like a fucking sailor, part of that is I have always had jobs that frown upon bad language, even in staff areas. So I find myself outside of work with friends dropping f-bombs and saying socially inappropriate things...constantly. It's just what I do. :-D   Do you like puzzles? What kind? Jigsaw, word, etc? Love me Sudoku! and those nifty 3D puzzles are fun too, but there are kitties that like to play with things and I like to keep things away from them that I don't want destroyed, partially to keep the peace between me and the roommates.   Do you have anything that you use on a daily basis that you would always welcome more of? As much as I would love to do this...It really isn't something I have money and time to sink into right now.   Anything from Villainess that strikes your fancy, either from their update or from the GC? quick or dead?, byzantium , extrait sampler, jai mahal   If I wanted to include something for your fluffball, what would be good, and what should I stay away from? Would homemade treats be something you'd like for your dog/cat? I have no little fluffy ones running around right now so all the treats are MINE!!   If you get a long weekend this weekend... what are you doing with it? Staying in? Going out? Family? Friends? If you don't get a long weekend, are you OK with that, or a little sad? (If you are Canadian, apply this to last weekend) I can usually only handle 2 days off in a row. I start to get a little stir crazy, and anxious about what I'm missing out on at work. I'm better to tell you what I do on my days off now, than think of what I would do. Right now I get 3 days off a week, one day is relax & sleep in. Another day I get to spend at a theme park and make sure that I get in a few miles of walking, and the last day off a week I try to catch up and do something social, game night at a friends place, ice skating, walk the mall or catch a movie.   Would you be interested in getting a kombucha starter and instructions on how to use it to easily make your own fermented, probiotic tea drink? This is a drink that I look at everytime I'm at whole foods, but never actually get. I'm curious, but I don't know i feel about making my own.   Hogwarts House? Slytherin

Doyou have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? Trees, Oak and Beech trees in particular When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? I like to be with friends I can have a good bitch/cry or laugh with depending on the kind of day.On my own a cup of tea, bath and book will do. Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type(Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored,etc...)? If it was the packet that you add to water maybe. one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digitalstuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? Whatever suits my witch. Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most?(amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiberallergies? Favorite color for knitted items? Anything my witch makes would be received with love, as a unskilled person with no time I am in awe of crafty talented persons. My favourite knitted colours are blue, green, purples.Socks, gloves, scarf, wrist warmers would be used most.

Swiiitchery!

I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? For nut-haters, they have nutless Roca For the no-sugar folks they have sugar-free as well. No fanks, what is almond roca?   I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? If you want to make my boyfriend very happy you could include dried meats. He is a dried meats fanatic. like, crazily enthused fan of dried meats.   How do you feel about home-canned goods? I think i feel great about it! I am a big supporter of citrus marmalades, blackberry jam, pickles....what else goes in cans? Wait those are all in jars.   Do you like BPTP clothing? What size do you wear of:   Baby-doll T's Regular T's yoga pants Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? Or other clothes from BPTP?   Nah - no need for BPTP clothes here!   What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? Hair gloss? I've never tried any of their stuff!   Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I loove errrything, fantasy and scifi for kicks - preferred format would be in the cloud though.   -Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? I love strong black tea, jasmine, random green tea, barley tea. I dunno. nothing with fruit or too much sugary types stuff.   -Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? Um yeah every summer I plan all these amazing things to do in the city and then it gets too hot and we all just ending up drinking haha. No for real, one of my favorite things to do in the summer is go to museums ! ALSO movies in the park       -Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? I want some kind of awesome thumb ring. is this random? yes it is!     Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) Yes I love em! I have audible its great for my 1.5 hour subway commute to wash heighs!   Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Love! Anything but white - and I love toffee/salted caramel/ etc.         Wednesday June 26/13   Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? I always need things to occupy myself! I love fashion mags I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you?Did you say food?? Whats this? I want all the food.   Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? A seriously sturdy hair clip that can hold all this stupid hair i've got. I have to use 2 or 3 of these lame flimsy ones to keep my hair together. A little watering can for my window plants and terrarium! Polaroid film ! I love my polaroid camera but film is so expensivo that I never feel like the moment is worth using up my film!!! HOW sad is that.   Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? Not really!   I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? Wow no but I do love oreos, I ain't mad.   What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? Elegba/Goblin Lick it..../peacock queen bansheeeeee :(     If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? I'm not so much in like "fandoms" (my little sister on the otherhand is like running these things on the internet i don't even know) but I am still known to be slightly obsesssive. I love Buffy (my original "fandom") LotR, Harry Potter, Star wars, star trek, game of thrones, and just now starting to get into dr. who.   So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? whats this?no idea!   Has anyone asked about tattoos? "It doesn't matter if you want it back/you've given it away"

Hi Witch Dear! Thank you so so so much for the socks! I love them!   I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? For nut-haters, they have nutless Roca For the no-sugar folks they have sugar-free as well. No sweets for me, thank you!   I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? But I will gladly be taking all the jerky (beef, pork, turkey, whatever kind you have!)   How do you feel about home-canned goods? Love em! Please send them my way   Do you like BPTP clothing? Yes! My lovely mother bought me the Honey Moon baby doll shirt and I love it! Baby-doll T's XXL Regular T's XL yoga pants XL; a pair of these in the belladonna has been on my wish list forever.   Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? Or other clothes from BPTP? I love the Cold Moon 2010 shirt and the Pink Moon 2012 shirt.   What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? All the things Seriously, I love the Post. I'd like to try The Twilight Where Virtues are Vices candle, the Erebos and The Queen's Croquet Ground atmo sprays in goblin squirt form. I've also been meaning to replace my nearly empty bottles of Gertrude Dix and Down the Rabbit Hole atmo sprays.   Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I love fantasy, musicals, and dramas. I'm really not into romantic comedies. As for format, I can do either DVD or Blu-Ray, whatever works best for you Witch Dear   Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? I'm not into tea enough to know But if you have favorite teas, I'd love to try yours!   Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? I light candles on midsummer each year, and since my birthday falls in the summer (July 13, so soon!) I do a special birthday candle lighting/meditation on the previous year ritual.   What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? The Dune apron here, these panties in XL, but other than that I have no idea   Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? The Man of Steel movie! I know that's not what this question is asking, but I loved it so much. I haven't been this into a movie since The Hobbit.   Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) I have a real problem following audio books actually, so this would be wasted on me.   Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Love it, but it's not on the "ok foods to eat" list.   Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? Nope!   I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you? No thanks!   Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? A nail file for my purse, a scented thing for my car, and a dish for my stud earrings.   Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? No thank you.   I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? Oreos happen to be my most favorite cookie but as tempting as watermelon flavored Oreos are, please no cookies!   If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? Ah My fandoms are The Hobbit, Hannibal, The Vampire Diaries, Sherlock, and Dr. Who. I love items related to these fandoms from t-shirts to mugs and everything in between! As for actors, I've got a slight infatuation with Benedict Cumberbatch going on (I think it's the voice because he is surely a strange looking man).   So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? Not for me, thank you!   Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? I used to want a tattoo quite badly, but then when my brother got his done I saw how painful it was. I've got a low pain tolerance, so I don't think I'll wind up with one. I love how they look on other people, particularly the meaningful ones.

About Me

Astrological Sign: SCORPIO Chinese Zodiac: (Fire) Dragon Spirit Animal: Manatee (and Pinkie Pie from My Little Pony) Personality Type: ENFP Politics: Very Liberal   If I were a fictional character: Miss Piggy. Smart and sassy. Nerdy, cute and chubby. Independent, but likes to be pampered.   I am passionate about just about everything I do. I am “all or nothing.” I am never lukewarm.   I am full of contradictions. I am a jaded old soul with an innocent heart. A gregarious introvert, or a socially anxious and awkward extravert. Down-to-earth but a bit of a diva, optimistic but depressed, smart but silly. Confident but insecure. I am open-minded, but can be quick to judge. "Champagne tastes on a beer budget."   I laugh too loud, I cry too easy, I talk too much, I drive too fast, I love too hard. Some people may think I am too intense, too loud, too much. I would not change any of these things.   I have my fair share of opinions and tend to share them. Life is too short to bite your tongue when you really need to use your voice.   WHAT I DO I am a (mostly) Stay at Home mom - but that does not mean I do not work. I have plenty of jobs, projects and activities.   I Read and Write. Poetry. Essays. I also have several incomplete and currently stalled book projects - fiction, erotica, non-fiction, and memoir/confessional.   I Dance I enjoy dancing of almost all kinds, but as a hobby and form of expression, I am a burlesque dancer.   I “Model” I enjoy working with photographers to make art. I have fun with it - it's like playing dress-up as an adult.   I Travel I have been to France, Ireland, England, Singapore, St. Lucia, Bahamas, Canada and Australia. I have not been to Mexico yet, despite my current proximity to it.   I Drink A variety of brewed beverages: tea, coffee, beer. And wine. I know wine is not brewed, but still. And when I absolutely need it, I drink a Red Bull here and there.   WHAT PEOPLE USUALLY NOTICE ABOUT ME My laugh It is very loud and unique. It has made performers drop their lines and has been used to locate me in a crowded amusement park. My vocabulary I absolutely love words, wordplay, and the history and lives of words and phrases. My height or lack thereof. My boobs. Or my butt. It depends which of them knocks your drink over first.   WHAT I AM VERY GOOD AT: napping - I am an EXCELLENT napper hugging - I give great ones. singing alone in my car or in the shower. laughing loudly being very clumsy - so NOT running or biking or climbing. I only run if someone with a weapon or an animal with big sharp teeth is chasing me. And even then...meh. I like to bike, but have a tendency to fall.   "I'm an excellent scathing letter-writer."   FAVORITE READS The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Buddha of Suburbia, Madame Bovary, The Awakening, Feed, A Wrinkle in Time, American Gods, Revolutionary Road, Einstein's Dreams, The Harry Potter Series, The Lemony Snicket Series, The Spiderwick Chronicles series, She’s Come Undone, A Prayer for Owen Meany, Fables, Love & Rockets, Sandman, erotica and erotic comics.   FAVORITE TUNES Wild Flag, Dum Dum Girls, Girl in a Coma, Alabama Shakes, Zola Jesus, Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, Melissa Ethridge, The Breeders, Dar Williams, Nina Simone, Joan Armatrading, KT Tunstall, Kate Nash, Regina Spektor, Tegan and Sara, Erin McKeown, Katie Melua, Norah Jones (and The Little Willies), Eva Cassidy, Joss Stone, Miss Li, Poe, Antje Duvekot, A Fine Frenzy, Erin McCarley, Ingrid Michaelson, Kat Edmonson, Rachael Sage, Cat Power, Florence + the Machine, Brandi Carlisle, Lykke Li, Robyn, Adele, Lily Allen, Eliza Doolittle,   And yes, I do happen to like some male musicians as well: Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Barenaked Ladies, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, City and Colour, Queen, Prince, Talking Heads   FAVORITE TV TV SHOWS (in no special order) The entire Whedon and Whedon-inspired oeuvre (The Guild is awesome), Sherlock (BBC), Portlandia, Archer, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Raising Hope, Downton Abbey, I, Game of Thrones, The United States of Tara, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, The Office, The Office (British Version), My Name is Earl, Lost, Scrubs, West Wing, Friends, House   I watch I, Claudius at least once a year.   FAVORITE GAMES Fluxx, Munchkin, Apples to Apples, Cranium, TransAmerica, Yahtzee, Uno, Wii Sports, Animal Crossing, World of Warcraft, and your good old bouts of Truth or Dare.   FAVORITE WORDS (that’s right, I have favorite words.
