Winter Holiday swap answers

I'm joining in with everyone else       so...someone has gifted you a $20 gift card from walgreens to ONLY use on things for yourself. no necessities here. what do you buy?   Hmmm...having no Walgreens here, I have to go google this, and I would probably go for... some Burt's bees lip balm some Reese's Peanut Butter Cups some m&m's...the peanut butter ones, the pretzel ones and the dark chocolate ones, because we can't get them here very easily. Poppycock and crackerjack both look intriguing the nail polish looks like fun, but my nails are chewed down so far it's pointless to even consider them a penguin plush, though would be fun!   I live near a brick and morter location for a really, really good spice store. would you use cooking spices and if you would, what would you need? (it's penzey's if you want to google it).   Spices would be lovely, but sadly AQIS (Australian Customs) tend to take a dim view of things like that, and there's a better than average chance that they would be confiscated     Do you like knitted goods? If so, what would you like, what colors, and do you have any sensitivites or preference when it comes to type of yarn (ex: wool: yay or nay? do you prefer machine washable materials? do you not care?)?   I love knitted goods - I normally knit for other people, so getting something knitted would be wonderful! My favourite colours are usually deep dark ones, especially black, charcoal, burgundy, deep cherry red or claret, midnight blue, deep green etc. I'm not allergic to any yarn, but I do tend to prefer natural fibres, and I have no issue with handwashing, in fact anything made specially for me would be handwashed no matter what     hey swap partner...could you use a new mug?   Always!!! Especially big mugs for coffee, or little delicate ones for tea.     Is there any sort of regional food/drink/treat you miss or have always wanted to try?   Some of the regional-ish stuff I've mentioned in my questionaire, and further up the thread. Though my sister lived in the USA for a while and used to send me Trader Joe's care packages...and some of their nibbly stuff was amazing.   Do you do a Christmas tree? If yes is it themed or specially colored or do you just have all different ornaments and such?   Probably not this year...between travelling, and a cat that thinks that everything is a climbing challenge it's not going to work out.   Would you like a special ornament?   I would LOVE a special ornament! Even if the tree doesn't make it up because we're travelling, I always make sure there is some kind of decorating going on.   If you were my fox, would you like to receive some homemade goodies, or would you prefer that your goodies came from the store?   I would LOVE homemade goodies, but I have a sneaking suspicion that, as with spices, AQIS would confiscate anything like that.     Would any Bunny like to receive Holiday serving bowls, trays, platters etc...? Winter/Christmas or Thanksgiving/Fall themed?   Serving bowls etc are wonderful, but limited kitchem space means that non-themed ones that I can use all year would work better. Though on further thought, they would be too big and heavy to send overseas.   My lovely fluffy Snow Bunny, would you like a bodyscrub made by me? If so, what scent(s) would you like, if you had to think along the lines of essential oils? And would you prefer sugar or salt? A dryer scrub or one that's more oily/moist?   Body scrubs are always awesome! Sugar is better than salt...I've found sugar is a little bit more gentle than salt. I love my scrubs more on the oily side. As for scents...vanilla, rose, jasmine, citrus oils or else something spicy and warming. I don't like lavender on it's own, but lavender with a bit of lemon to lighten it up would be wonderful.   Dear snow bunny, do you like candles? if yes, then what kind? scented (what scents), unscented, what colors, do you like them plain/painted on the outside/with decorations attached to the surface/sculpted?   I love candles. Any style. I can always find spots for tapers, pillars, tealights and jarred candles. I prefer them undecorated, because they mostly wind up in holders of one kind or another, As for scents, I have no preference. Foody scented ones for the holidays are always good, and holiday colours are always good too.   Also what do you think of little soaps? I know most people don't use soaps nowadays but I love the chocolate/vanilla/cocoa/butter/sugar combo scents that I see at beauty stores   I love little soaps...I have no problems admitting that I have an addiction to soap.   Socks! Slippers! Do you love them or not really wear them? If you love them, do you also love Sock Dreams?   I am a sock fiend. To be honest, I've never ordered from Sock Dreams...but I have eyed off a lot of things, most recently the Chat Noir Knee Highs, I just haven't gotten around to buying anything yet.   Would you wear something like this if your Fox were to knit you one? Drip, french press, keurig? BRING ON THE TEA?   Mmmm...coffee. Whole bean or ground are both fine. Flavoured is always fun, especially holiday type flavours. Caffeine please! I have a little espresso pot, so anything preground needs to be fine ground. As for favourite roasters, I would love to be surprised...though if possible, I prefer fair trade coffee/tea/chocolate.   Of course, I'm equally obsessed with tea. Any tea or coffee would have to be manufacturer sealed though - again, Customs get grumpy.   Who else here loves or would like to try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics? If so, what would you like?   I've never tried any, but the Vintage, Stalker and Strumpet Lip Tars look amazing.   Have you tried anything from Cocoa Pink and if so, what products and scents do you like or would like to try?   I've never tried any Cocoa Pink. The Whipped soap looks interesting though. As for scents; Bendel Vanilla Bean, Bourbon Vanilla, Confederate Jasmine, and Spiritueuse Double Vanilla all sounds good.   Anybody into nail polish? My sister sent me some salted caramel that was full of win...I'm a total sucker sor sweet-spicy, and sweet-salty nibbly things, so anything along those lines would be wonderful. Winter Holiday Fun Swap Questions & Answers (2011)

1. So... someone has gifted you a $20 gift card from Walgreen's to ONLY use on things for yourself. No necessities here. What do you buy? Depends on whether I'm pmsing or not. If yes, probably chocolate. (My Walgreen's has Green & Blacks dark cocoa and I keep 'em in my desk drawer and eat 1-2 squares a day after lunch. I also love those Lindt squares and the orange and pepper chocolate bars.) If I'm not pmsing, I might actually buy makeup. Maybe an eyeliner or two. I've been occasionally practicing lining my upper lid lately and all I have is a Revlon Timeliner in a sort of neutral brown shade (it's ooooold and probably discontinued). I like that it's soft and not pokey, but I could probably use a different color or two. Either that, or I'd buy more foundation wedges or foundation (Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer in Light to Neutral).     2. I am another one who totally loves Penzy's. I love a lot of their blends like Zatar, Rogan Josh, Balti and Garam Masala. I also use a lot of the Adobo, ground chipotle and the smoked Paprika. Do you not care?)? Yes. Yes I do quite like them. The most useful colors for my wardrobe are probably black, scarlet, kelly green, emerald green and turquoise. But I also love all blues, fierce orange, gray and purple. I love all fibers except those that shed (no angora, please!)   4. Hey swap partner... could you use a new mug? I can always use mugs, and also aluminum water bottles. For some reason my husband leaves those all over the country-side.   5. I can't think of anything in particular, but in general I love regional foods and things that are local to my witch. It's like a vacation in a box!   6. Do you do a Christmas tree? I don't use them super often, but I do go to holiday parties and occasionally have one of my own. It never hurts to have some nice serving items in the cupboard. I like a slightly looser/more oily scrub (think Smooch rather than Smack). I like lavender and orange essential oils and even a little rose. I also like woody/resinous scents.     12. Scented (what scents), unscented, what colors, do you like them plain/painted on the outside/with decorations attached to the surface/sculpted? Pasted from the candle relevant questions from my Hallowe'en round questions: I like the ease of the self contained candle, so I would vote for a jar. Color would matter less to me than scent. I'm imagining something with lavender and lemon which would make my bathroom smell clean and fresh. Maybe some sweet grass or sage thrown in there as well. I really love the Luna scent from Archipelago Botanicals. It's lemon verbena, lavender and thyme -- very clean and fresh. I also love the Stonehenge scent from the same company - smoked cedarwood, bermot and amber. It is very comforting and warm without being cloying. For the Christmas season I also like AB's Black Forest candles which are douglas fir, ebony wood and black currant. From Yankee, I like the Sage Citrus which is also really clean and fresh.   13. Also what do you think of little soaps? I know most people don't use soaps nowadays but I love the chocolate/vanilla/cocoa/butter/sugar combo scents that I see at beauty stores.... I use a TON of bar soap. You can never go wrong sending me soap.   14. Socks! Slippers! Do you love them or not really wear them? If you love them, do you also love Sock Dreams? I have a ridiculous pair of multi-colored crocheted slippers my brother bought for me in a Native village in Alaska. They aren't really warm enough and I often layer then with socks. Slippers and socks are LOVE. And SockDreams is like Planet Love Fest. I covet, covet, covet a lot of their tights (usually the fairly plain black, grey and plain colored ones since I wear them to work. But the subtle patterns of the bamboo ones are just my new favorite thing. And someday I will own wool tights. Yes I will. The preeeeeeecccccciiiiiioooooooouuuuuussssssssssssss.)   15. Would you wear something like this if your Fox were to knit you one? If so, what color? Yes. See the color preferences in answer to #3. I try to keep my wardrobe fairly blendy.     16. There is only J, and he'll totally just take whatever he wants anyway. (Food items and bar soap get shared between us automatically.)   26. How do you feel about honey/beeswax? Would you like any? Hmm...interesting honey would be appreciated, but I'm not sure what I'd do with beeswax.   27. Are you a Trader Joe's fan, who either doesn't have a store nearby or just loves their stuff and has a wishlist? I miss TJs. I became addicted in law school and have been essentially without for YEARS. We usually make at least one four hour car trip a year just because we can. I especially love and miss: the nuts! (Thai Lime Chili Cashews and sesame honey cashews are freaking amazing. The plain Wasabi Almonds and plain Tamari are also good, but the Wasabi Tamari are out of this world.) I also adore a lot of their sauces (Moroccan Tangine, Thai Peanut, Punjab Spinach, all three colors of Thai sauce and Tahini rock my socks). Lots of the wine is more than drinkable for the price (dry, dry, DRY wine). The cheese and frozen stuff is also fantastic, but much less shippable.   28. The Paintbox Soapworks Yules are up, or at least round one is (updates coming throughout the week). Interested in anything? I think Yuletide Mariner sounds pretty fab and Snoggin sounds nice and comforting. I've actually never tried her stuff, so I have no preferences for soap vs. scrub etc. except to say that washy things like soaps and scrubs get used more than pampering things like lotions or creams.     29. I have knitted 2 scarves in the past 2 years and they tend to be under appreciated (thankfully mine weren't ^^) because no one thinks about how long it actually takes you to knit the damn thing. :| Colors that I like are black and red mostly. Dark purple rocks and I am fine with white. I despise pink (sorry pink, it just doesn't work out between the two of us) and prefer dark colors. No sensitivities here, yay for wool (although I would be hesitant about taking it out in the rain ) and I don't care much about washing machinery because most knitted stuff gets hand washed anyway.   4.Hey swap partner...could you use a new mug? I have some cute mugs with chubby animals in them, and I never use them because they are too cute. @_@ (I do use my Will Coyote one though ) So, I don't need one, but if I got one, it would be welcome.   5.Is there any sort of regional food/drink/treat you miss or have always wanted to try? Yes... Pretty much anything non Greek. I have eaten Indian once in my life (this summer when I visited a friend in Finland of all places) and it was awesome. I want to do it again. In general I love trying out new flavors, so eating new stuff makes me happy (unless they are alive and wiggling.. in which case I will probably pass >>). Also, as I mentioned in another comment, maple syrup! It is impossible to find it here and I have never tried it (and I want to make pancakes and slather them in it dammit).   6.Dear Snow Bunnies: Do you do a Christmas tree? If yes is it themed or specially colored or do you just have all different ornaments and such? Would you like a special ornament? Yes, we do one every year, and it is sad that I am the only one in the family that wants it and actually enjoys decorating it (as long as I have company). We use red and gold colors (and a couple of transparent glass-like ornaments) on a green tree and it is pretty. There are various ornaments including balls, transparent angels, little mushrooms (hohoho >>) ... I am proud about the fact that I have gotten the prettiest of them as a small gift to the family. Special ornament? I like the sound of that. ^^ 7.I know some people are squicked out at the idea of eating things that other people make, or the thought of deep fried cookies sends them into cardiac arrest. If you were my fox, would you like to receive some homemade goodies, or would you prefer that your goodies came from the store? I have no problem with home baked goodies at all. ♥ However, I live in Greece, so if my fox lives in the US, by the time they get here they might... not be in the best condition. So, only if they are something that doesn't spoil in 2-3 weeks (Or my fox is from Europe and they arrive faster. I tried it last year with cake from an English friend. When I got it it was all crumbs, but it was still delicious and not spoiled. ).   8.Would any Bunny like to receive Holiday serving bowls, trays, platters etc...? Winter/Christmas or Thanksgiving/Fall themed? I never thought about that. I don't have a special shortage of bowls (I have a couple that I usually eat my cereal in), although I wouldn't say no to a pretty tray or platter. Winter, Fall, Christmas, sure. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Greece though, so that one would be kind of odd.   9.My lovely fluffy Snow Bunny, would you like a bodyscrub made by me? If so, what scent(s) would you like, if you had to think along the lines of essential oils? And would you prefer sugar or salt? A dryer scrub or one that's more oily/moist? Oh goodness, body scrubs are such a luxury I don't get any. @_@ (I really should indulge myself more) I would probably prefer sugar since I have this horrible sweet tooth (I know they are not edible, but still... ^^) and I would prefer a more oily scrub even though my skin itself is oily because they feel so decadent on it. ♥ As for scents, I also like warm winter scents (like cinnamon/orange/cloves and nice spicy stuff), but I also like scents that smell of woods (green). Or a simple nice relaxing lavender one can always do wonders.   10.Dear snow bunny, do you like candles? if yes, then what kind? scented (what scents), unscented, what colors, do you like them plain/painted on the outside/with decorations attached to the surface/sculpted? For candles, I prefer them scented ( same scents as in the oil question, also chocolate!111 ♥ ). I have no problem with the color, although I notice that the ones with decorations on the outside are a bugger to actually burn (to be honest I have a couple and have yet to light them up because of that; I am afraid the glitter will fall in the candle and start up sparks if it gets close to the flame and something bad might happen).   11.Also what do you think of little soaps? I know most people don't use soaps nowadays but I love the chocolate/vanilla/cocoa/butter/sugar combo scents that I see at beauty stores I think I answered my own soap question..   12.Tim Tams. Nope. No kids and no pets (I will get a puppy one day though dammit).   25.How do you feel about honey/beeswax? Would you like any? Beeswax is possibly my favorite smell on earth and I love trying out new and unusual honeys. (Saw Palmetto honey is A++ guys, take my word for it.) Honey is good. My mother buys a couple of kilos every year (enough to last us through the winter) from a coworker who has his own beehives and only makes enough for his family and a few others and we know that it is organic (and delicious!). I have seen some combinations in supermarkets like "honey with sour cherry" or "honey with something" but I haven't actually tried them. I would be curious to do so one day and see what they're about.   26.Are you a Trader Joe's fan, who either doesn't have a store nearby or just loves their stuff and has a wishlist? As I have never been to the US, I haven't tried any of their stuff. I do have an adventurous palate though, so any exciting new food prospect makes my taste buds tingle. I only tolerate it in small amounts in racy underwear (like black and pink), but other than that I don't wear it. Though I prefer gloves over mittens, because I can actually move my fingers - even with limited mobility. We tend to flavour a couple of things with anise in Greece (ouzo, which is booze springs immediately to mind) and it is nice and refreshing. I don't remember what cardamom tastes like, but feel free to try me.   60.Do you like artisan oils and vinegars? Are artisan oils oils that have herbs in them? If that is the case, I have seen them around but never tried them. I am willing to give them a try though, as long as they come with serving suggestions. As far as vinegars are concerned, I love balsamic vinegar and add it to my food whenever I can get away with it. I am neutral about normal vinegar and don't use the apple cider one much, but balsamic is something I fangirl over. Someone has gifted you a $20 gift card from Walgreens to ONLY use on things for yourself. No necessities here. What do you buy? About Walgreens, we don't have a Walgreens here, which is a shame! I had a good search through the website, and these are some things I could pick: EOS lipbalm in Strawberry Sorbet, Haribo peaches, Home Scent Home gell fill candle in Mixed Berries, Jelly Belly beans Ice Cream Parlor mix, Yes to Cucumbers facial towelettes, two Wallgreens votives in Spiced Apple and a Old Williamsburgh Country Creams scented candle in Apple Cinnamon.   I live near a brick and morter location for a really, really good spice store. Would you use cooking spices and if you would, what would you need (it's Penzey's if you want to google it)? I would love more spices for in my kitschen, I don't have many. Things that sound nice to me are the Grill & Broil mini gift box, Baker's assortment 4 jar, Cocoa Lover's and Some Like it Hot . For the loose spices, I would like the smallest amounts just to try them out, because I am not really experianced in the kitschen but I would love to play around with them. I'd like to put them over here, but if I write down every one I would like to try, it would be a huge list, so I'll leave that up to you. But I can tell a bit what I like to make. I love to make Indian chicken dishes, hamburgers, I like to bake (should do that a lot mote often) and I like to drink hot cacao. I also like HOT food! I also heard someone about a catalogue, now I know that there aren't any Penzey's right here, and I know they have one in PDF, but I'd lust love a catalogue in paper just to go through and get idea's!   Do you like knitted goods? As for essential oils, I like orange, cedar, vanilla, cinnamon (but that one can be a bit difficult to use as it may be irritating), that kind of scents, warming scents especially. My favorite colours for them would be white, silver, red, orange and gold. As said, my experiance is also that candles with decorations on the outside tend to burn, so.. I do not have issues with anything used, as long as it's still in a nice condition. I am also not afraid of the bedbug, so clothes are also welcome!   Bunnies, how do you feel about lemon-flavored items, like lemon marmalade, lemon curd, lemon pound cake, or lemon cookies? Lemon curd!!! Lemon marmalade woul be a no, and I generally go for other flavours in cake or cookies than lemon, but lemon curd is just... pure love.   Pink? If you are my Fox, really, I like pink pretty much! I could imagine a scarf in pink as a statement piece!   What are your opinions on traditional holiday cookie flavorings? I'm thinking anise and cardamom in particular. I don't know what cookies taste like with those flavourings, but I'd love to try some!   Do you like artisan oils and vinegars? I don't really use oils and vinegars. I don't make dressings or sauces of my own (well, only one to dip my Pringles in lol), so I am afraid that they'd just be standing around here. Although I totally love the look of those chique tall bottles with some fruits or twigs in it with the oil. They are so lovely as decoration!   Any crafty pursuits you've been dying to experiment with? Would you like a little kit of something you've never tried? Do you need any particular items for your new or existing stash? I would love to do something crafty. I don't have a lot of space though. I made Pergamano stuff years ago, and sold all my tools. I am so sad about that! I'd like a lot of things to try out, as long as it doesn't need a lot of skill. I can work precise, but I am not good at drawing for example. Winter Holiday Swap

Hey there, foxy! Some hints for you:   Etsy favourites! (currently in mad love with those Time Lord necklaces...)   This is... a lot of scrolling, so I'll put new things on top from now on. Eep. Sorry!   Are there any Yules from *PAST* years that you're interested in trying? This is my very first Yule, so I haven't tried much, and none of the classics -- I'd be up for anything! But I'd be especially interested in any cold and snowy scents that aren't florals (Snow White, frex, would be a total no-go). The Snow Storm sounds made of total win to me. Nuclear Winter, Hypothermia, anything in that vein definitely.   Soap dish? Ooh! Yes! I only switched recently from liquid to bar and I don't have a soap dish. I was going to fashion myself one out of chopsticks but first I need to find a decent place to get Chinese food around here and I haven't and until I do my soap will be sitting in sad and slimy pools. Caveat: preferably not something easily breakable since my bathroom has a window above my shower-ledge and, as mentioned 972 times in my blog, my cats are klutzes. They caught sight of a squirrel in the backyard today. This occasioned the near-destruction of the stereo, when they forgot windows are made of solid material and tried to hurl themselves after it. It was a really important squirrel, apparently.   If your fox were to knit something for you, would it be a lacy shawl or a pair of socks? Either would be awesome! Although I can't knit myself socks, it's too scary. But then, every year I get multiple pairs of socks for Christmas. But then again, one can never have too many socks. But....hm. Shawl! It sounds so pretty!     Fruit/dried fruit? Cherries? Tart cherries are love! I adore tart cherry jelly -- not the chunky kind, not the kind with whole cherries, just smooth. It's so difficult to find in the US and I was going mad, but last summer I was lucky enough to get several pounds of cherries and make my own. Still have a few jars, so I'm not desperate at present, but I'd never say no to more   Not particularly interested in dried fruit. Fruit leather's okay. Crystallised pineapple and ginger are okay. I like dried apricots but I'm mildly allergic to them so that's probably not a good idea, even though I'd eat and like them.   Bunnies! What is your general philosophy about patterns for accessories such as socks, scarves, and tights? Do you like solids? Stripes? Polka dots? Weird patterns like harlequin-type stuff? Any of the above? All of the above! Especially stripes and patterns! Argyle and paisley are super. Polka dots are okay but I prefer swiss-dots -- or even better, little patterns, like stars.   $20 to blow in Walgreens: I tend not to wear makeup and for skincare I'm a super-minimalist: I make my own masks/scrubs and moisturise with jojoba or olive oil. But my hair is a mess, and nothing I've tried has worked, so I'd probably raid the hair care section. I have a lot of split ends and have yet to find a product I really like, but I've heard good things about Shea Moisture, so I'd probably get some of their Yucca and Aloe Hair Thickening Growth Milk -- or if there was just some straight argan oil, I'd get that. And.... hm. Maybe a Tamagotchi from their toy aisle! I've been feeling nostalgic. If any was left on the card, I'd look for some lip balm in fun flavours like coconut or lemon.   Penzey's: I'm not much of a carnivore, so I wouldn't use their rubs or meat seasonings. I love curry, though, and would probably go for any of those blends. I bake a lot and would love some of their Vietnamese or China cinnamon and vanilla. They also have Charnushka (rye bread seeds), which I've always wanted to try. I am baking rye bread right now, actually!   Knitted Goods: I love knitted things! All fibers except mohair. I've been wanting to make a felted Gryffindor scarf forever but I'm afraid to felt, so I'll probably never work up the nerve (LOL SOME GRYFF I AM I KNOW). I love scarves of all kinds, especially big giant long ones, as well as fingerless gloves and wristwarmers. Hats and hairbands are okay but I usually need them to be either acrylic or lined because they make my head all itchy. I like bright colours -- deep greens and blues, oranges and golds, crimson and wine reds, especially in bold stripes or eyecatching patterns.   Tree Ornaments: Probably a bad idea. They would be claimed as cat toys the minute I got them out of the box... ::glares at cat, who is currently scaling a bookshelf::   Tim Tams. Yay or nay? YAAAAAAY. Original or Chewy Caramel, yum!   If you were my fox, would you like to receive some homemade goodies, or would you prefer that your goodies came from the store? I love homemade goodies and hope to send some to my bunny myself! Any treats are welcome, but homemade ones are always my preference.   Would any Bunny like to receive Holiday serving bowls, trays, platters etc...? Winter/Christmas or Thanksgiving/Fall themed? None for me, thanks. My current place is so small we don't even have a table, so not much entertaining here.   My lovely fluffy Snow Bunny, would you like a bodyscrub made by me? If so, what scent(s) would you like, if you had to think along the lines of essential oils? And would you prefer sugar or salt? A dryer scrub or one that's more oily/moist? That sounds fantastic. I'd love something warming, with ginger or pepper -- that or something clean and soothing, maybe with rosemary. Since winter's coming, probably sugar, and on the oily side.   Dear snow bunny, do you like candles? if yes, then what kind? scented (what scents), unscented, what colors, do you like them plain/painted on the outside/with decorations attached to the surface/sculpted? I love candles! Unscented tapers are great; we have a brass candlestick we use for reading and in the winter we go through tapers like crazy. Tea lights are also most welcome. As far as scented candles go, I like wintery ones (especially evergreen or peppermint) and hot chocolate. Jar candles are also great, since the other cat (NOT the one on the bookshelf) is a klutz and frequently singes his tail on tapers. Sigh. CATS.   Also what do you think of little soaps? I know most people don't use soaps nowadays but I love the chocolate/vanilla/cocoa/butter/sugar combo scents that I see at beauty stores. I'd give them a try!   Socks! Slippers! Do you love them or not really wear them? If you love them, do you also love Sock Dreams? Yes to socks! Not so much on slippers, but definitely socks. Big fan of knee/over the knee socks, which I love to layer under thick/fluffy anklet socks for SUPER WARM AWESOMENESS. Crazy patterns and stripes and argyle: big yes. I haven't shopped at Sock Dreams but they look great.   Cowl? Ooh. I tend to get claustrophobic with turtlenecks, but that looks nice and loose and I could control the tightness. My neck and back knot up in the cold and I can always use something to keep my muscles warm. Maybe in charcoal?   Talk to me of coffee. Whole bean? Ground? Flavored, not flavored? Decaf, whole caff? Favorite roasters? Drip, french press, keurig? BRING ON THE TEA? I, uh, have named my French Press. His name is Hervé, and I LUFF HIM. Whole bean, full caf -- though I make exceptions for flavoured blends I can't get whole (TJ's Pumpkin Spice, frex). I love spiced/holiday blends: gingerbread, eggnog, candy cane, ALL OF IT. For not-flavoured, I like Vienna roast -- dark enough to reduce acidity and bring out some caramel. For roasters, I love Satellite (NM chain, and I would kill or at least maim to be able to drink their iced Black Velvet again... I miss it so) and Intelligentsia, but it's always great fun trying local roasts from new places. I also love tea!   Who else here loves or would like to try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics? If so, what would you like? None for me, thanks. I never really figured out how makeup works.   CocoaPink: Um. Everything? I'd especially love to try anything with Black Cat in the Pumpkin Patch, Green Tea and Mint, Blackberry Mist, or Full Moon.   Anybody into nail polish? Any color or formula preferences? I'd try some of the crackle kind, but I rarely use it and am not really much into it. When I wear it, I wear black or something neon.   If you found a $50 bill on the ground and were to place a Lab order, what would be in it? (And shipping is free through the magical BPAL unicorn!) All hail the BPALicorn! My collection's still primarily imps, so I think I'd upgrade my best-loved/most-used scents to big bottles. I find the Conjure Bag stuff pretty effective, so bottles of High John the Conqueror and Wolf's Heart, plus a bottle of No. 93 Engine, which I love for winter. The beeswax and lemon balm make it so sunny and warming, perfect for a cold grey day.   Holiday DVDs None I can think of.   Marvel or DC? Marvel, definitely. I like the X-Men, and Beast is my favourite (cat-version). I haven't got anywhere to put any more comix/paraphernalia at the moment, though, heh.   Lush? Any of their lip balms or bath bombs/bubble bars -- I've never tried any of either! I have and like a Therapy massage bar, but would love to try others -- particularly a Wiccy Magic Muscles, Hottie or Ego bar.   Honey/beeswax? Oh yes please! I LOVE varietal honeys (especially meadowfoam, but I want to TRY ALL THE HONEYS). Yes to beeswax, too! I'm not sure what I'd do with it but I've made candles before and I adore beeswax candles. That or I'd tint it for sealing letters! I love cosmetics and scents with beeswax in (from BPAL I love No. 93 Engine and the beeswax note is a big part of why). The only major brand I have really tried and like is Lush -- in my formative years I used waaaaaaay too much B&BW antibacterial hand gel and still haven't quite recovered my stomach for their scents. I have ethical issues with Burt's Bees after the Clorox buyout. Natural/relatively-chemical-free products are my preference, but my experience is limited (haven't even tried anything from the Trading Post yet!) so I'm open to trying new things.   A question: reveal, yes or no? My nerdly loves are for biology, chemistry, electromagnetics (I ADORE FARADAY AND SOMEDAY I WILL MARRY HIM) and particle physics. I'm also into social science/cultural studies and would make an exception from my Please No Books stance for books from Frankfurt School thinkers like Adorno and Horkheimer or media studies writers like McLuhan.   Fandom-wise, my big love right now is Doctor Who -- I was actually kind of afraid to watch it earlier because I saw some Third Doctor episodes when I was small and was scarred by them. ALIEN EGGS ARE TERRIFYING TO ME KTHX -- but now I am in love with Matt Smith. Also into Harry Potter (Gryffinpuffs represent) and currently rewatching The X-Files (and the first episode of S4 is just as terrifying to me now as it was when aired because it manages to combine two of my most intense phobias into ONE TERRIFYING PACKAGE: SMALLPOX DEATH-BEES). And BtVS and Firefly will always have places in my heart.   Lemon? Yum! I don't really care for curd -- texture thing, I guess -- but marmalade is love, and so are baked goods/candies.   Pink? Sure. Brighter/darker pinks preferred for wearables, as pale pink does icky things with my complexion.   But do you really want all 12 feet of the Tom Baker scarf? OMG YES. YES I DO. I DO WANT ALL OF THE SCARF. I'm 5'4". So, to speak reasonably, I guess I wouldn't. BUT IN ACTUALITY I DO.   Fingerless or full mitts? Fingerless mittens are the greatest of mittens! I wear fingerless gloves/mitts constantly in winter and always need more.   Mugs? I'm always on the lookout for the perfect mug. I like larger-than-8oz mugs, especially nerdy mugs (i.e. thinkgeek, topatoco, engrish.com and the like). I used to have a clear glass mug from despair.com with a dividing line and the text 'This Mug Is Now Half-Empty'

Maybe some weird color sinful nailpolish for the toes, a paperback (some kind of forensic crime stuff like Patricia Cornwell, Jonathan Kellerman, Dean Koontz maybe). tea if they had something interesting, ans a diet coke with lime.     2. knitting? No thank you anyway unless it is a mini afghan or blanket to cover up with while sitting on the sofa but that is too big of a project. If someone is really ambitious, the colors would be like chocolate brown beige and green or something like that.   Spices, yes if it is something really unique, but I have a very small kitchen and cupboards unfortunately. 4. Mug? No thanks I am all set (see above small kitchen issue)   5. Regional food or drink? YES, I can't think of anything specific but I love trying new things and would love something that is special in my foxes area. Course if I fell in love with it, I might bug you to get me more -I'd pay for it of course. I do love Good Earth tea in decaf original and sometimes I can't buy it around here.   6. Christmas tree- Yes I have an artificial one because I don't like to kill trees to make them an adornment, I think they look perfectly lovely outside adorning nature like they are supposed to :hippie:   Well back to the fake tree. No I buy edibles from etsy too so it is cool, BUT I am really seriously trying to lose weight so if it were like a fat free baked good full of flax seed or something, or tea or coffee. Holiday serving bowls, platters etc. Yeah sure and I hope my bunny wants some too cuz I know where to get some really nice ones.   9. Handmade sugar scrub-Sure. I do make them myself but would still love something my fox gave me, I do not like them very oily though. The ones I make are foaming type, I don't like greasy ones.   10. Candles-Oh sure or tarts. I live near a brick and morter location for a really, really good spice store. would you use cooking spices and if you would, what would you need? (it's penzey's if you want to google it).   i just realized i never actually answered the question. i use a ton of pumpkin pie spice, i love their chili 9000 and i love their salt free blends, pretty much any of them. i really want to try their cinnamons.     hey swap partner...could you use a new mug?   i'm set on traditional mugs but if you could find a clear travel mug with a lid i'd love you forever.   Is there any sort of regional food/drink/treat you miss or have always wanted to try?   bbq and hot sauces. a friend in nz sent me some habenaro kiwi sauce one year that was epic.

Do you like knitted goods? INTRODUCTION Family and friends, we are gathered here not to witness the beginning of what will be, but rather what already is. I'm sure you're getting sick of reading about me witch, but I'm at work and bored...   Do you need any winter wear, witchee? It’s already gotten to feel like winter here in my part of the world! I’ve noticed that I really need some new slippers and new gloves/mittens. In both cases I’m much more interested in how warm they are than how cute they are, if they are both, than that’s an awesome plus.   I've read something about a Event Exclusive called Pumpkin Hard Candy (if someone knows the details, shout it out because I am still searching). Are you interested in this scent? How desperate are you for it? I tend to do very well with Pumpkin scents so I would love to try it, but nothing I’m dying to have, either.   Going back to the question about winter wear, are there any colors you would prefer not to have? I have two winter coats that I wear most of the time. My casual one is red and black, and my dressier one is brown. Any colors that go with either of those is fine, The only color that I can think of right off hand that I would hate is a mustard yellow.   Do you like scary books? What's the best/scariest thing you've ever read? NOPE! Real life is scary enough. I like to read to escape and be happy.   So I was at Uwajimaya the other day and saw Earl Grey Tea Chocolate and Cinnamon Chocolate. I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out?   I don’t have a tea ball, is my only drawback. Otherwise, sure, as long as handled cleanly.   How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price.
