SW Fall 2011 Questions and Answers!

September 30th Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? no thanks! Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? it sounds delicious You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? hrm....terry pratchett's new book, a new headband that doesn't have teeth on it, and ummm, a surprise? how do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? would be willing to try it Is there a magazine that you DON'T read because you can't find it near you, but wish you could? nope! I'm about to make an order from Sephora (nothing off of my wishlist, witch, so don't worry about that). Is there anything for you that you would like to accompany my order, if you're my witchee? i don't really wear make up, except for the occasional lip stain September 29th What kind of purse do you prefer? Note to my witch: sorry for being so slow to respond on some of these. I hope you weren't asking any of the time critical questions (like "do you want anything in my Sephora order?"). Still recovering from my in-law visit last week and a cold and I haven't had the mental energy to do a whole lot of question answering... Oh, and also, the Vegan Month of Food has begun! So I am (food) blogging again daily, just for this month. I doubt it's terribly relevant to you, but if you're interested, my blog is here. October 3rd Does anyone else like collector Barbies? Nope. Never a Barbie fan. The only interest I ever had in them (as a child) was making clothing for them. What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? See my post about 10 under $10. Also, quart sized plastic baggies. Also, a ball of rubber bands. I thought of both of these yesterday and was like "I should put these on my SW wish list!" and then was like "that is crazy, my witch is going to think I'm a 90 year old woman who pays for everything with her change purse full of pennies." Let's not be silly. I don't have a change purse. Tarot Yes? I generally really like tarot themed imagery. I'm not particularly spiritual or superstitious, I don't believe that tarot cards actually tell you anything about what will happen, but I think they're a great tool for organizing your thoughts about a situation and/or having someone else help you think about your situation. Tell me about something you like, and why you like it. Heh. Isn't this what this whole questionnaire is? The first thing that came to mind, probably because it's morning: I love snuggling with my kid while he's sleeping. There's just something so damn peaceful about the whole thing. Listening to him breathe so evenly, murmur in his sleep, feeling how warm he is (always like 10 degrees warmer than me), I find it impossible to think about or worry about very much at all. Switch Witch Fall 2011 Help Part 2

Here's a continuation of questions for this round Is there a rare book you’ve always wanted? The Natural History of the Unnatural World. Is there anything you want to buy yourself but have been too embarrassed (R rated or pg)? Nothing is too embarrassing for me to buy. I once bought my grandmother a Playgirl for Valentine's Day. if you were my witchee, would you want some of my hot nuts my candied nuts my nuts covered in butter and brown sugar candied walnuts? Sadly I don't like walnuts. I enjoy pralines though. Have you seen the Lush holiday update? Do you like the look of anything from there? The Buche De Noel Cleanser looks interesting. I would even love just a sample of this to try. Like I mentioned in my blog o' doom I use Angels On Bare Skin already. Sadly I have been waiting for years to have them bring back the Xmas Massage Bar. It was my all time favourite scent and I would buy 6 or 8 at a time when it was around. I have the ingredients listing for it with the thought that I might experiment and see if I can come anywhere close to recreating the smell. Does anyone else like collector Barbies? I don't generally collect them but I do have the MAC loves Barbie one. What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? Tape is always an afterthought for me. (I would love their whole damn house - particularly the apothecary area) I would really love the book of shadows more for recipes though. I'm not a practitioner of the craft (though if I were to be a follower of any faith that would be it - love mother nature). (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? ummmmm... honestly I have no idea. I would really love anything that you gave me. Soap, perfume, jewelry, art, games, crafted items, plants, home made food... seriously... anything! how do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? I used to LOVE to make hemp jewelry. I love little crafts where I can zone out and focus on whatever I'm doing for a few hours. Tying knots is fun! Back on topic... I haven't worn hemp jewelry in a while but I would if I had some! Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? Sure. Also samples of concealer or foundation, mineral makeup is preferred, would be nice. John Steakley's Vampire$, seriously. It's the book that the movie John Carpenter's Vampires was based on (though I've never seen the movie). It took the whole 'sexy vampire' thing and ran in a horrifying direction with it. Also, 'Salem's Lot, by Steven King was pretty creepy. I'm basing this in part of the videos of the songs, particularly for Thought of You, and Eye of the Storm. So - - (Well worth watching maximized and at high res). It's this elegant song about love and what happens *after* love. There's more longing than passion and the choriography and animation are beautiful. - In all honesty, the song itself doesn't do a lot for me, but the song in combination with the music video is haunting and I would dearly love to see Beth's take on it. - This is based purely on the song, not the video. It starts very restrained, with vocals and a harp and builds up to this vibrant rhythm perfect both for dancing and ritual work. But I hear Haunt is pretty hard to get so don't worry about it if you aren't foraging for it. Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? Maybe a decant. SW questions and such...

Switch Witch 'Weenie Round '11 Extra Questions Part 2

Soooo... I happened to skip down to the end of my blog post to see that some of my earlier answers have been cut off! Eeeep! So, I'm going to transfer some of my most recent answers over here and answer the newest questions over here from now on (or until I need a THIRD post ) More random stuff: I have been lusting over Villainess Bourbon Vanilla Smooch and Whipped since I (re)discovered that they existed the other day via the SW thread... seriously. I have been using the death by chocolate scrub I have and it is lovely I can't even imagine how good the Bourbon Vanilla stuff will be Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like? Nooooo. I really don't like liquorice. Especially black liquorice. ew. How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? I like milk and white chocolate the best. (I actually love just plain good quality white chocolate. I love how it's so creamy and just melts away on my tongue...)I like salty and sweet combos, like chocolate covered pretzels (OMG chocolate covered pretzels are my biggest weakness! Milk and white are my favorite but dark too... guh.) I am really intrigued by bacon chocolate. I would like to try it. I do like fruit flavors (wither real fruit pieces or just like a fruit flavoring in the chocolate) If I had to pick a favorite I'd say orange. But I really like grapefruit, lime (citrusy flavors are good), strawberry, raspberry... I DON'T like blueberry, mango, or cherry. Cherry is tricky because I like real cherries but cherry flavoring I do not like. Nuts are also okay. I really like almonds and milk chocolate. I'm kind of on a walnut kick right now so that wouls be good. (though I've never had a walnut in chocolate. I wonder what that would taste like...?) I like marshmallows and toffee. Those are sometimes in chocolate bars right? Oooh! I was messing around on the create your own chocolate bar site someone posted and I made a bar that was just white chocolate with candied violet petals. I am curious to see how that would taste... I've also made some others (dark or milk chocolate with sea salt and lavender, milk and/or white chocolate with orange peel, milk chocolate with marshmallows and graham crackers - s'more bar! , milk chocolate with banana chips and yogurt pretzels, because why not?, I could go on all night... ) More random stuff, BPAL related: So, it seems that I have ruined my bottle of TKO. The other day I dropped the cap (wand cap) and I didn't think that the wand hit my hand that was covered in scented lotion, but apparently it did, so now instead of smelling like a fluffy lavender marshmallow, it smells like and herbaly kinda vanillaish lavender-y mess. A practically FULL BOTTLE. I really am almost in tears over this. I know it's stupid but I can't buy another bottle and I was planning to buy a backup so now I need two and I have no money right now and what if it gets disconed before I can buy more? Is there a movie you want that you don’t own now? Yes. Inception. I'm sure there are more but that's the only one that comes to mind at the moment. Would any witchees be interested in Quinn Popcorn? Sure, sounds interesting! Am I the only one? Does anyone else like collector Barbies? Eeeeh, not really my thing. Unless it for some reason would be really funny or interesting or for some reason relate to me. if you were my witchee, would you want some of my hot nuts my candied nuts my nuts covered in butter and brown sugar candied walnuts? omg... that sounds ahhhhhmazing. *drool* I have been having a walnut kick lately and candied nuts are just YUM anyway so yeah. I always get candied almonds when I go to the rennfest (which I will be going to soon yaaaay!) Random thing that just popped into my head that may or may not help with witching: I have 2 different companies' dupes of Aquolina's Pink Sugar (Solstice Scents and Opulent Alchemy. I like Solstice Scents's one better in case you were wondering. Lol) But I"ve never tried the original. I know it's a alcohol containing perfume so I probably won't like it all that much but I feel like I should at least try it. So at some point I'd like to get the smallest container of it that they make. Which I think is a rollerbottle. Another random thing! I am going to at some point get a tattoo of a phoenix. I have the drawing of the phoenix that I want, but it's not colored. I want a colored tat and I'm having issues with coloring it myself. I mean, I know what color scheme I want it to have... kind of. I'm just having trouble translating my thoughts to the paper. I don't know if you can somehow insert this into your witching plans but there you go. For those of you that like candles, do you like stuff from Yankee Candle? And if you had to choose, tarts or candles? Yes candles! And I definitely have my eye on some Yankee candles stuff. I for some reason get yankee candles catalogs to my house and I browse through them and lust over the big jar candles in soo many luscious scents. I can never decide between the tasty foodie creamy scents or the coffee scents or the fresh fruity scents. Does anyone want anything from... here...? Ooooooh man. I am trying so hard to forget that place exists. So much of it looks sooo good! .......Ahhhh! I caved! I went on a favoriting spree! What are you drooling over from the Sock Dreams Halloween stuff? These (I need a whole new nurse outfit too... hmm.) And oooh these! I dunno what makes them particularly halloween-y but hey, I'm always up for some rainbow thigh highs! (or knee highs) And theeeese! Ditto on the halloween thing but fuzzy toe socks are always a plus in my book. I like these too. I like stripes and I like otk/thigh highs so what's not to like? (Don't even ask about color combination. waaaaay too many to choose from O.O ) Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? I wouldn't say that I lament it, but I would like one of the imp/condom cases. Either one of the courtesan ones or one of the ones they have up all the time. I also would like a keyring but I feel a little silly dropping $18 on a keyring. But, apparently I don't feel silly dropping $200 on bras like I did the other day... holy ship (Bahahahahaha! I typed holy ship. It's staying. ) bras are expensive. Well, I really shouldn't be surprised when I walk into a Victoria's Secret without my "No, I'm Not Buying Anything Today 'Kay Thank You Bye" shield up. I mean, I really did need bras, I'm not saying the sales lady pushed me into buying something I didn't need, but I didn't necessarily need Vickie's bras. And I didn't necessarily need 4. Okay, that part is kinda my fault..... how did I get to talking about this again? And O.M.F.G. the creepy anamatronic muppet robot character things on the creepy little stage "playing" their creepy little instruments with the crappy tinny music being pumped in through badly masked speakers. It was AWFUL. Their movement was jerky and sudden and their eyes never really closed or opened all the way and their mouthes moved in a really unnerving unhinged quality..... And of course the table for the stupid party was right next to the stupid "stage" where these creepy fucking puppet things were. Up close you could hear the "clack clack" of the plastic banging together and the whirring of the motors that operated their movement but really, that didn't make it any better... I know you're not going to send me a creepy Chuck-E-Cheese robot, I really don't know where that came from... If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Ahaha! I have a good one if you do by the name of your first pet and the first street you lived on rules (that's how my friends and I always did it anyway...) So mine would be Tawna Sellman. I think that one's pretty good all on it's own. If I ever need to go underground or need a few extra bucks... Tawna Sellman it is! I have just been enlightened to THESE. (Or, maybe you'd just like to emphasize something you may have only noted in passing?) Homemade food and baked goods are always a big hit, like I said. Do you own a DSLR camera? Are you interested in a minky camera strap like these? What about anything from Photojojo? I don't actually own a camera (other than the one on my phone) at all, but … Is anybody else into film photography? Interested in receiving film, supplies, etc from Lomography? … I've been really wanting to pick up a Holga for a long time. I love the lomo "look", and though I haven't dealt with film since I took photo in high school, I do kind of miss it. Are you musically inclined? Do you play an instrument or sing? If so, what? I sing, but not amazingly well. I mean, I do some mean karaoke, but I don't consider myself talented beyond that. 3 October Does anyone else like collector Barbies? The Klimt Barbie linked in the thread is pretty, but I don't collect dolls at all. What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? I need some more cheesecloth, actually. And new shoelaces for my boots … exciting, no? Tarot? I don't read, but I'd enjoy having a reading done for me. Tell me about something you like, and why you like it. Okay! Here I am! So. As you know from the questionnaire, I'm 24 now, and I've been a roleplayer for half my life. My parents didn't play D&D or anything, but I always had a really active imagination as a kid; I was always pretending to be Batman and solve crimes with my best friend during recess in elementary school, and later on when the Animorphs books came out, I totally wanted to be an Andalite. Blah blah. We always had a computer in the house — I think I inherited a 386 from my mom's old office when I was fourish, and had my own AOL account (with lots of parental controls) by the time I was six. So I spent some time in late elementary school in the moderated fan chatrooms, and eventually moved on to a private chat called "Cassie's Barn," after a locale in the book. Where people were pretending to be dragonlike beings from another dimension and such. So that was where I started, and I'd later go on to roleplay a Pokémon trainer, a reincarnated goddess, a half-elf necromancer, a pink-haired elven decker, a white-hat hacker, an aasimar favored soul, the unassuming bookish woman who somehow lucked (or unlucked — he turned out to be gay and she was in love with someone else) into marrying the king of their small, socially rigid island nation, a deliciously twisted blood elven death knight, a previously by-the-books commissar nursing an obsession with the heretek rogue trader, and a lot of other stuff in between. I've made some good friends — many of whom I've never met, some of whom I'm lucky enough to have gotten drinks with, or met on vacation, or otherwise hung out with. It's been cathartic in some ways, in dealing in a safe, fictionalized way with some issues I've had, and it's been a constant creative outlet and source of inspiration for me. I don't consider myself a writer, but I enjoy writing for and about my oldest hobby. If you're the MMU type of Witchee, what Geek Chic Cosmetics tickle your fancy? I remember when I first heard of the company, the Ten Man Raid was the only set of eyeshadows they had. September 30th Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? I've never looked at the Haunt site before! I can't tell which stuff is the new stuff. Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? The candy notes involved make it less interesting to me. I would, however, love to try Hochelaga. That one sounds right up my alley. You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. I am woefully underread in this department. I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... The story, the art/style, etc? I enjoy comics and graphic novels in general, because I love the premise of combining words and still pictures to convey action and motion. You can show things that are harder to convey in words alone, and the still scenes and composition are very different from the visual approach done on film. The medium allows for a different kind of storytelling. But all of that said, if the story isn't compelling, even the best art can only keep it going for so long. On the flip side, less technically-proficient art can still sustain a really excellent story. I try to draw comics, in addition to reading them. I don't know how successful I am, but I enjoy the process. If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? if you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? I'm going to cheat badly and say how much I'd love to see scents based on the concert hall, in addition to the art museum. I'd adore a set based on Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde. All six movements, musically and textually, are very evocative and some even mention smells. Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. I don't wear makeup. Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? They were fun when I was a little kid, but I haven't played with them in a good twenty years. Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Are there any characters that you love or identify with? There are certainly ones I've identified with in things I've read/watched, but they're not coming to mind right now. They haven't been close life-long identifications or anything. A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? I draw comicy/cartoony things, using ink and markers. I do other crafty stuff, but these drawings are the things I do the most often. In particular, I tend to come up with characters that are personifications of non-human things, like buildings or geologic features. My character design process is that I look at the thing I'm about to personify and try to incorporate as many of its shapes and colors into the character as possible. A building with a lot of angles and points will lead to a character with angular pointy features. Something painted red-orange (*cough*) will have red-orange hair and an orangey skin tone. A fault that cuts through granite is going to have granitic colors/spots. In terms of actually sitting down and drawing, I do pencils first, then an outline, then colors. I often lose track of time. Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? A lot of them sound good, but none are MUST HAVE NOW. So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? Please, no unexpected! I love meeting BPAL people, and meeting my Witch would be cool, I would prefer for it to be scheduled/planned! September 19th What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself?: I don't tend to think of the strange miscellaneous stuff until I see it in the store. How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? September 23rd Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? Much to my surprise, not really. My favorite thing in their store is the Death Mints. Mints in a coffin tin with a skull on the front – I love it! But I’m pretty sure you can get those other places than the Mütter Museum Store. The skull key caps are cute, but I’d never use them. Same thing with the giant microbes – cute, but not something I need to have laying around taking up space in my house. I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? Wow, that scent list is just overwhelming! Grapefruit sugar, Lime sugar, and Marshmallow sugar sound interesting, as do so very, very many others, especially the foody and vanilla blends. I love Aero bars. A few local stores now carry them, but they always seem to be stale or worse. The current batch on the shelf at my local Meijers seems to have gotten overheated in transit, because they all seem to be a little squished and deformed (believe me, I checked every bar in the box!). For the most part, though, the stores around here have me pretty much covered. Turns out that I don’t really have it in me to truly worship any gods or goddesses, but if I did, Athena would probably be one of my top 5. Either that or they’re just being polite when they claim to be surprised by how old I actually am! So who else watched Babylon 5? No. I tend to prefer my scifi more funny or quirky, so more Red Dwarf or MST3K or Lexx rather than Star Trek or BSG or Babylon 5. If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? No, but other than Tom Servo, Crow, and Gypsy, I don’t have any particular interest in puppets or the like. I don’t like a lot of insects, but I’m not freaked out by most of them. Earwigs do freak me out, but not enough that I can’t scoop them up in a cup and take them outside, far away from my house, when I find them inside. I don’t use bug spray around my house, so I get a fair amount of bugs inside, and I live alone, so I have to deal with them myself, and I’ve gotten pretty decent at doing so. The Detroit Institute of Arts, the Detroit Zoo, and a bunch of museums in Ann Arbor. I get to most of them every few years or so, but I wish I went more often. September 29th I have a question- What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? I'm not big on purses. I have one large black one in leather that desperately needs to be replaced, but I haven't found one that suits me anywhere near as well. I want a specific configuration of pockets and zippers and such, and until I find that, I'll keep carrying my crappy looking purse most places. I have a smaller black purse that I use when I'm going to a concert or something where I don't want to carry a bunch of stuff, and the strap is long enough that I can wear it over my shoulder or across my body for more security in a crowd. I wouldn't mind finding an even more streamlined one that will hold my phone, my GPS unit (don't like to leave it in the car), and maybe a few other small items like a lipstick and such. And I have a lovely little purse that Lucyboo gifted me with in another swap, and I get so many compliments on it! Circular Swap help!

My dear witch, I love chatty letters. Really, I do, and when I got yours on Tuesday it totally made my day. I've been trying to get caught up on the daily questions from Lioness' list, but it's been a busy week. Still, I'm going to keep working on getting caught up, and thank you for your patience. And thanks also for the copy of When Gravity Fails — I haven't read it before, but I can tell from the blurb on the back I'll probably love it. I'll let you know what I think when I'm done. I don't mind used kitchen stuff at all — a few things in my kitchen I know have been around since I was a small child, and some stuff, like my food processor, is secondhand. It doesn't bother me much, since of course everything gets pretty thoroughly cleaned after you're done with it. My big, sky-is-the-limit wants right now … Well, you were spot-on with the KitchenAid mixer. I joke to my boyfriend all the time that it's going to be the first thing on the registry if and when we get married. (I like the candy-apple red color, even though that doesn't match a single thing in my kitchen right now.) I don't own a cast-iron skillet, either, and that's starting to feel like a big oversight. I've thought a lot about getting a mandoline slicer, a stick blender, an electric griddle, but ultimately I'm doing fine without all of the above right now. I guess for smaller stuff I'd like some non-stick silicone mats and I could probably use a new can opener. Not glamorous stuff, but there it is. When I saw the exhibit at the MOMA this was in 2004 or 2005, so I think that was right around the time the Central library was being built. I did visit Seattle once while my father lived there, but that was in maybe 1999, so of course I've never seen it. I'd like to, and there are a lot of other places in Seattle I'd like to see (the Experience Music Project wasn't open yet when I visited, and I was disappointed since I wanted to go badly). Hopefully that's in my not-too-distant future. By the way, if your next letter is three pages about why you love the Czech Republic and the people therein, I will not complain at all. My best friend is in grad school as a history major (and my plans are art history), so I kind of expect and invite these kinds of tangents from people. Plus, now you've piqued my interest. Taking a hard left into color theory territory … I've had to give this a couple of days of thought, because clearly there's no pressure at all here, right? Plus I'm not sure I understand the question. Most of my favorite colors are cool colors and you might even term some of them "chromatic greys" because of how desaturated they appear to be, but color is a tricky thing. I actually got out my Pantone swatches to sort of give you a reference on what colors I like, and picked out a light, greyish sea green, a more saturated cerulean blue, and a dark blue-violet color. I hope that's helpful, if a little nerdy. And yes, as I mentioned above, I love getting mail, I love reading letters. I do feel bad that I've fallen so far behind; "real life" seems to have leapt to the forefront with designs on eating my brain, but I've been trying to get caught up and think of good responses to your letter and to the forum questions. It's my first time doing Switch Witch, so I'm not too sure what my preferences for contact are. I'm not sure if I would like a ninja witch; I think I'd wonder if she hadn't forgotten about me, but other than that, I don't have any strong preferences yet. So, I think the game you're talking about at the end of your letter might be Call of Cthulhu? My friend's husband offered to run that for a group a little while ago, if I'd agree to take up the GM reins and run a Shadowrun campaign for them at some point. We haven't started yet, which suits me alright because I've never read Lovecraft (plus, I'm foundering through Dark Heresy right now as it is. I feel sometimes like as much as I like Warhammer 40K, I know just enough to really get myself in trouble, since I haven't read even a fraction of all the books there are. Or read the comics. Or played the RTS games. Or …) You get the picture, I'm sure. Still, there are a lot of games I'd rather play than Call of Cthulhu myself, so i can sympathize there. If we start before the round is over, I'll let you know what my impressions are.

I freakin' love lavender as a scent, a flavor, a flower... any way you please. Do you have an Amazon wishlist or do you belong to Goodreads or LibraryThing? My Amazon wishlist should be findable if you search under the name in my questionnaire. Do you drink wine? Outside of pregnancy, yes, yes I do. I'm mainly a red fan but will (happily) wallow my mouth upon whites too. Like commercial socks? Definitely! I don't know if I've ever had a pair of hand knit socks for myself. Without commercial socks, my feet would be so bare. I know you've all heard of the julep maven monthly boxes. No, I hadn't. BPAL constantly surprises me with niche sites I would never have seen otherwise... Anyway, I think by now you've probably realized that I'm pretty much not stylish (hey! September 27th What is something people are always surprised to learn about you? Oh, there are a lot of surprising things about me. Almost no one would guess that I love to play sports, or that I swam competitively in high school and played rugby in college, or that I love to run and wish I had time to do it still... So who else watched Babylon 5? I love Babylon 5. If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Patsy McPasty? Because I am a pale, pale thing. Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? Analytical. Both my highest score (38%) and the profile I relate to most. Then Driver (32%), then Expressive (24%), then Amiable(6%). Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? I mentioned this before, but I'm not fond of the grotesque. No corpse imagery, no gory pictures, no sideshow "freaks" etc. I also do not care for spiders and insects. Puppets don't bother me. Not into clowns. what level of contact were you hoping for? So I had thought that this was part of the questionnaire that got sent to your witch match but realized later it isn't. I was hoping for moderate contact and a package or two. I'm pretty low maintenance. I understand people have lives outside of SW and it wouldn't bother me if there was radio silence for a week or two here and there. It has, however, been delightful to me to receive multiple ecards and a postcard from my witch already in this round! S/he is exceeding expectations, and it's sweet. Any except Absinthe! Cherry Bourbon, Clove Cigarette, and Rose Citrus appeal most. What is something people are always surprised to learn about you? That I have a personality? I'm really quiet and shy around people until I know them well. So who else watched Babylon 5? Not yet. It's on my list of "shows that look awesome that I need to make time for." If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? By the first pet/street name method, Rolf Bel Air. Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? Nope, but I am very much INTP on the MBTI one. This profile is pretty accurate for me. Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? Nope. The only thing that squicks me that I'm at all likely to get in a package is dry textures, like chalky erasers and matte paint. Just typing that squicks me. There's a whole synaesthetic category of things like that that I avoid. What level of contact were you hoping for? I put "any," and I stand by that. The first round I did, I had a low-contact Witch who was fantastic, and this round, I'm getting a much higher level of contact, and I have another fantastic Witch. There is nothing for my area, but now that the Air and Space Museum is starting a new lecture series, I'll probably be in DC once a month or so with my best friend. I love trying new restaurants (as long as they're not seafood) and new cuisines. I also may go to Richmond or Williamsburg occasionally. Are there any local museums/attractions you keep never getting around to going to? My local museums are the teensy tiny ones like the Mary Ball Washington Museum (which recently featured an exhibit from my church for its 200th anniversary) and the Fisherman's Museum. Is there any kind of international candy you love or would like to try? Any besides licorice or things with nuts! Well, almonds are okay in small quantities and with toffee. I love trying foreign candy! Candy and drinks are the first things I check in grocery stores when I go abroad. I got all addicted to tarkun (why is this good? It's tarragon-flavored soda!), kvas (again, no idea what is appealing about this, but I like "yeast extract," (Marmite/Vegemite) so maybe it's not surprising), sbiten', and medovukha in Moscow.
