Fall SW answers!

Amazon wishlist link Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? I am not a huge fan. Marshmallows tend to make me feel ick after eating one or two.   What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. Someone from the forums set me a bunch of imps off my wishlist during a transaction, as well as tea and candies! Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) Yes! I do all the cooking in my house, and love spices and herbs, as well as chopsticks (I only just discovered sushi...so much love!) and other useful items.   Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? Not really. I'm a naked sleeper, and house lounging clothing tends to be an oversize t-shirt and boyshorts. What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white,dark, etc? Dark by preference, as well as milk. I like nuts, and spice, as well as nougats and such.   I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? I've never been in one, but I'm told they have great teas, coffees, candies,and spices! Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? I live in Tx, so it might not survive very long, as our mail room doesn't always have working AC, and we don't check the mail every day.   I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! Stripey socks, a pair of LEI panties (probably a pair of the ones that look like tighty whiteys), some snacks/toys for Miss Maus (the kittybeast), and a bar of 'good' chocolate. (Lindt, probably their sea salt or chili bar)   I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? Oh hell yes! I'm a Canuk myself, and badly miss Dare Scotch Mints!!!!!! Mackintosh's toffee. Maple Sugar candies. *sigh*   what are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? I heart TeeFury, and am a size (womens) XL there. Firefly, Sherlock, Doctor who, BattleStar Galactica, Calvin and Hobbes, Avengers (Thor, CApt. America, and Iron Man too), and Batman are all my fandoms.   Do you have an eReader and if so which one? Nope.   Marzipan? Not really a fan.   Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin “paper” towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? No, thanks. We live in an apartment with no washer, so things we have to wash frequently are a bad idea.   Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? Yes and yes. My fiancee and I prefer sweeter infused vodkas, over, say, savory. If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? I honestly don't know a lot about Australian foods. All those sound good and I am open to surprises. If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? Arm warmers and fingerless gloves would probably get the most use! I am also really lusting after a particular style of hat that caught my fancy on etsy : http://www.etsy.com/listing/59625298/pixie-hat-blue-pixie-hat-slouch-beanie?   Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? My kitty will wallow in any wrapping paper and hide in boxes, but she loves catnip toys if you feel like tossing one her way. My mate will be giving me sad eyes, so I will probably be sharing any things I can with him.   Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nacho witch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? I promise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. Oh goodness. Yes to either/or!   I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that are supposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic red sauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? I adore stags, foxes, wolves, and always love art of them.   Is there a GC scent that's been on your list for ages but keeps falling off the bottom of your order because of the LEs? Probably Mr. Jacquel   Nail Polishes? I love holos! Also, jellies with big chunks of fun glitter, and indie stuff. Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? That's a totally cool/sweet idea!   How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box? Hell yes!   Stuffed things: yea or nay? Stuffed foods? Nay. Stuffed animal plush toys: semi-yay. I collect plush wolves and otters, but those are the only stuffies I make room for.   New Question: mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? No thanks. I cook a lot, and the idea of pre-made food just sits oddly with me. (Sorry, I'm wierd!) Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? Yes, but I will caution that shipping it can be a big pain. Use loads of bubble wrap and ziplock bags. Trust me.   Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? I'm not terribly crafty. Making jewelery and hair sticks seems to be the edges of my creative limits, so right now I'm not looking to learn any more crafty stuff. Mostly cream coloured. It's pretty much shabby apartment chic. My pots and pans and accessories are all brightly coloured when I can find them, though. (Red! Green! Teal! Purple! Blues!) I'm about to re-do my altar, so will get to this question once things have been changed around!   Hey Witchee! I want to send you a delivery. It could be cupcakes from a local bakery, it could be a singing hugging bear-a-gram, it could be a bouquet of flowers. But it will be something that you need to be there to receive. a) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? *waggles eyebrows* B..) Is the address in your questionnaire the best place to reach you for said deliveries? c) If the delivery requires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with that information being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously? It's hard for me to be home, so special deliveries may be difficult to arranged. A singing telegram would be a not good idea. I'm very flustered when put on the spot. If you need my phone, I am happy to supply it.   And now a new question: I live near a Mast General Store (mastgeneralstore.com). It has lots of vintage-y toys, southern foods (jams, jellies, spices) and vintage candy. Is there anything I can get for you?   Spices etc are always welcome. For vintage candy, I prefer chocolate, toffee, or caramel based things, hard candies (especially christmas "satin mix" style!) and fruit chew type things.   Do you have any Fall or Halloween traditions? I do a small ritual on Samhain, but nothing much apart from that. Oh, and I work Ren Faire every weekend from October to November. (Four years of doing the same thing makes it tradition, right?)   Ninjas or Pirates? I answered this a bit in my questionnaire, but would need more time to think it over.   Any Bath, Body or nutritional type items you would love to try from a Natural and Organic food store (similar to Whole Foods) that you don't buy because they are a bit too pricey? I always end up eyeing the Dr. Bronner and Zum items, as well as the tinted lip balms at my co-op.   OK, so those of you who said you wouldn't mind receiving (sneakily packaged!) beer or wine: Tell me of your taste preferences. Dry/sweet? Red/white? Lager/ale/porter/stout? Fruit? Spice? Hops? Sour (brettanomyces, etc)? I like darker beers. Guinness is my brew of choice, and I also drink 1554 and Trois Pistoles on a regular basis. What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? Oh goodness. Jeans that fit me well, make my butt look good and my legs look longer than my Hobbit-esque 5 ft 6. A cute spaghetti strap top, either with lace, beading, or other details around the chest. A button down over top that, left unbuttoned. My kick ass short boots with a bit of a heel and pointed toes. Dangly colourful earrings through the eyelets in my first set of lobe piercings, small simple plugs in my second set, and my two necklaces and my claddagh ring, all three of which I don't take off. For makeup, I'd tightline my eyes, throw on some neutral eyeshadow (Damn Paladins by Fyrinnae, probably), and go all out with my favourite (and almost used up. blast) tube of lipstick, MAC's Russian Red.   You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? hrm. I'm really not sure, to be honest. I rarely find clothes that will fit me, as I'm pretty racktastic. Are there designer clothes/purses/sunglasses that you desire/love? (Give some indication as to your "style" as well. For example, do you like bohemian-style frocks in lavender? Crossbody purses in black? Sunglasses that are round and bug-like?) I don't really know any designers. *blush* I went from goth/punk to 'I'm trying to dress like an adult on a tight budget', so that is a world outside my own. I do know that I love the office goth look as well as steampunk, and love bags with lots of straps and buckles that are all industrial.   Do you have pierced ears? Yes. 2g and 6g piercings in my lobes, an industrial, rook, and a cartilage piercing also. I can't wear studs in my ears, but will wear dangly earrings, as well as plugs/spirals, etc. In the meantime, let me know what you like to do on the Internet to kill time. Flash games? What are your daily websites/blog visits, or favorite YouTube videos? Tumblr is my crack. I also spend far too much time doing bloggy stuff. Youtube is a soul sucking pit of cute videos and amazing music, and I usually just go from one vid to the next as background noise while writing.   My Little Pony... Cute or meh? I liked the original ones as a kid. Haven't got into the new series, though.   Lip balm - tube or tin? Tubes are far simpler, and I am less likely to do something disastrous with them.   Would you like to receive a journal or sketchbook? How about other pretty paper goods like post-its, notepads, bookmarks, letter paper/envelopes? I'm a paper hoarder, and am currently working on reducing my stash.   Are you interested in audiobooks? If so, any specific titles? I've never listened to one? I adore books. Paperbacks make me happiest, to be honest. Hardcovers take up far too much of my precious shelf space.   Bar soaps with some scrubby bits, yes or no? Yes, both my mate and I have skin that adores scrubbies! Do you need any small electronic gadgets like flash drives and the like? Flash drives are always a good thing   Do you subscribe to any sample boxes, and if so, which ones? Would you like to receive some samples? I'm fairly fussy about my cosmetics, so I don't use sample boxes. (I'm a Fyrinnae, Shiro, and Meow Cosmetics sorta girl) do you have a problem with nudes??? If not, do you prefer male or female? No issues at all as long as it's not exploitative, male or female are fine.   Paintbox Soapworks: Interested in anything from her? YES! There are so many lovely things in her shop I want! I have a bunch of her items favourited on etsy.   ThinkGeek: anything interesting to you on there? Whiskey stones (My Irish grandda raised me to be horrified at the thought of diluting good alcohol with water/ice!), and various t-shirts, especially the Tree of Gondor, Van Gogh Tardis, and Slytherin coat of arms babydolls   What's one thing you want, right now, that you're having difficulty finding? Ahi tuna. (not helpful, but dear gods, I am having massive craving for it right now, and my town does not sell it anywhere!)   Who here is going to be picking up JK Rowling's new book on Thursday? Not me. I've got a huge stack of books to get through before I buy more!   What do you do to take care of yourself when you're having a rough day (sick, life not going your way, whatever)? Curl up with a book and a specific playlist. Take a long, hot bubble bath. Maybe all three at once if the day really sucked.   what size T-Shirt do you wear (standard AND babydoll)? Regular tees, L. Babydolls, XL   I found a fantastic little shop while traveling that had unusual jellies and jams. Would you be interested in trying something like Georgia Moonshine Jelly or TOE Jam (each letter stands for some kind of fruit, I don't remember which ones) or something similar? How about homemade jam in general? So, I am horribly weird and cant eat jam or jelly. Not because of an odd allergic reaction or anything, but because the texture squicks me right out. (and yet, I love gummy candy. I know. I'm sorry.)   Would you be interested in homemade herbal remedies and tinctures? I'll actually be seeing my supplier this weekend, but ta for the offer!

The farthest we go recently is about a 2 hour drive, and we just listen to the radio on the way.   Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? A white noise machine for at night...it helps me sleep a bit better. Some poi (soft ones, or ones with ribbon-y tails!) An coffee grinder   Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? They have some Luperci and Jacob's Ladder!   I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? *cringe* No thank you.   If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? Bless. I love Matt Smith, and would probably end up dragging him out of the rain and giving him a big fluffy towel and a nice cuppa. Liam Neeson is a long time favourite actor of mine too. Fall Switch Witch 2013 Q&A

1. Hey, Witchee, it's getting cold. Socks, scarves, hats or arm warmers? Socks- I have a Sock Dreams wishlist with many socks and arm warmer type things on it! Scarves- I can never have too many pashminas, and love interestingly patterned and non-chunky shawlettes. (examples of styles I find appealing here, here, and here. I'd prefer neutral colours, or greens and blues, as those are the colors of my Faire garb, and I'd be wearing these at both festivals I work, as well as during the winter!) Hats- No thanks. They're really hard to fit properly. Arm warmers- Yes, please!   2. Halloween Candy, Decorations, and Costume supplies - What kind are your idea of FUN and which ones would you thoroughly dislike? Halloween Candy - I'm kinda meh about a fair amount of it, to be honest. Candy corn and those wee sugar pumpkins make me ill after only a few, and most mini candy bars Decorations - I love trees and branches and things with oak leaves and acorns on them, yes plz. Costume Supplies - I prefer stuff that's going to be durable year after year. I usually don't dress up for Halloween, as I'm working Ren Faire at that time, so my costuming tends to be Rennie stuff.   3. WHAT traditions to you partake in for Halloween? Knowing what you do our how you decorate or how you celebrate? For Halloween, we don't do a whole lot. I put up a few small decorations, we carve pumpkins and roast seeds (though they don't last long. Texas heat is cruel to pumpkins and they melt quickly once carved). I do some rituals on Samhain, but nothing huge.   4. Are you a fan of anything that you would like a tshirt of? If so, what size would you wear? I love Studio Ghibli stuff...um...clever fandom shirts, especially Pacific Rim. Art nouveau, especially Mucha. I usually wear a women's XL, a men's L (I am racktastic). 5. Do you love, hate, or are indifferent to.....pumpkin flavored things? Fairly indifferent, though I am slightly addicted to a pumpkin spice cake thingy I've been making. (Pumpkin puree mixed with a box of spice cake mix. Add sugar, a bit of milk, mix, then bake. It's moist and delicious!)   6. Dear future Witchee, did you get anything from the Beaver Moon or Weenie updates that I need to know about, so I don't accidentally repeat anything? I bought nothing so far. Wishlists: Etsy Amazon Bodyartforms Sockdreams   Answers!   1. I wonder what a potential witchee would think about being bombarded with PUMPKINS in various formats. Because my current obsession just may last long enough to be of use in spoiling.....but I know wouldn't be appreciated by everyone. Would you appreciate it?!?   I really like pumpkin bread/cake/pie/cookies, but I'm not too fond of it in scents (foody smells in general don't do much for me). As for decor, I'm with eml298 and am good with them if they're more 'modern pumpkin' vs 'country pumpkin'.   2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).   Partially? I'm really good with breads, etc. Canned goods, probably not, as my fella and I don't use hardly any pickled items, and he hates salsa. (I'm highly amused by this, as he's Hispanic)   3. Trading Post wants?   I'd love to try some of the hair glosses! I'm most interested in Dorian, Amber and Patchouli, and Coconut, Vanilla Bean, and Tiare. Favorite places to buy coffee and tea - do you prefer Starbucks, Teavana, etailers, local roasteries, etc., and are there any you haven't tried yet but want to? Are you a purist or do you like flavors, and if so, what kinds?   I love both coffee and tea, and will drink either of them hot or iced. I prefer my beans whole, and my tea loose leaf, but I'll drink bagged tea. I have all the tea/coffee making stuffs I need (tea strainer/steeper, pot, mugs) and a coffee pot and grinder. I have a few loose teas I'd love to try on my amazon wishlist. I love flavours, and really don't like Starbucks. They over roast their beans, and it makes me sad. Teavana is not my cuppa either. I'd rather go through smaller companies and get more tea with less fanfare, if that makes sense. I love Irish Breakfast teas, Earl Grey, Vanilla, Mint, Chai, and am open to trying fruity teas!   6. Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy? Cooking and baking are definitely my thing. I'm mostly set on kitchen acessories, but I could use mixing bowls, silicone spatulas (that are a solid one piece...the two pieces tend to grow mold between the handle and blade), and muffin and mini muffin trays.   7. How do people feel about creative endeavours? Would you like to receive one? Or supplies to make your own? What do you like? Drawings, stories, poems? I love artwork, drawings, paintings, homemade comics etc - it's all good. I love to write and I play around with sketching/painting. I'm not very good yet, but hey, it's a learning experience! 8. What culture or country (doesn’t have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you? I'm Canadian, so my country's quite young in comparison to many others out there, so I tend to love reading/discovering about ancient times. Really no personal preference to the country itself, but when you can enter the ruins of say a temple that was built thousands of years ago - that fascinates me. Ancient China or Egypt or Rome or whatever. 9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? I miss some types of Canadian candy (born Canadian, in the US now). Particularly scotch mints (bonus points if they are Dare mints, because they have the crunchy outer shell, a chewy layer, and then another crunchy layer.), and Smarties. Smarties in the US are these nasty powdery candy. Back home they're like M&Ms, only flatter, brighter colours, and a better grade of chocolate. I like gummy candies, especially Haribo, and have a fondness for the awesome funky KitKats they make in Japan.   14. Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom? Man, I'm a big old geek. I love Totoro, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), the Avengers, Wolverine, and a fuckton of other comics. Other fandoms I forgot to mention on my ?aire are: Hannibal, Pirates of the Carribbean, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, ect. 15. Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? I post porn, sex and kink positive stuff, as well as random kittens, otters, and social justice stuff.)   Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing? Sorta? My family used to do little treasure hunts all the time, so it would definitely be a nostalgic thing.   If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions? I honestly don't have a preference. I have CDs for my car, and digital music on my laptop, so am good with either.   What’s a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you haven’t had time to address it? Um...I need to do a honey jar spell on my bf's boss (She just fired his co-worker, and isn't being that great to him.) but this week has been super crazy.   How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? I.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin… I can use all the good juju I can get! Especially some sort of money draw thing.   22. Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason--bad associations? Lavender scented things make me think of dead people (one too many bad EMS calls to a local retirement home), so I try to keep it out of my house. Apart from that, not really. 23. For the vegetarians and vegans: How do you feel about things (say, marshmallows or gummy candy) made with vegan gelatin or other typically-animal-derived-but-not-in-this-instance products? N/a!   24. Ok, so we've covered pumpkin. How do you feel about the other fall classic – apples? YES PLZ! I love apples, both fake neon green apple flavour and the natural stuff. Scent wise, I prefer crisp apples over an 'apple pie' flavour, and would be willing to try an oil with apple as a flavour if it wasn't too overly sweet foody. 25. Do you have any fabric or skin-contact aversions? Pure wool makes me itch and sometimes break out in hives. I love alpaca wool blends, though, and I'm sure any sort of mix will be ok. 26. How do you feel about Christmas/Yule ornaments? I like them, though my tree is hung with mini swords and throwing knives alongside the brightly coloured lights and balls. I love the mini weapons. I tend to stick with more Yule/pagan/nondenominational ornaments and decorations. Deer in particular are some of my favourites, and I like the recent trend towards peacock ornaments.   27. How do you feel about Hello Kitty, and Hello Kitty accessories (including mugs, cups, etc)? I don't mind them...my current round of bandaids are Hello Kitty, as is my current mug, but I prefer Chococat!   28. If you had a week free where you could learn anything, with no financial restrictions, what would you want to study? Pottery! There's two pottery studios in my town, and I really need to stop procrastinating and go sign up for some classes.   29. Do you enjoy poetry? Yeats is one of my favourites, as is Thomas Kinsella (though I've had a hard time finding his work outside of his translation of The Tain), e. e. cummings. Books on the subject/recipes? would you want sample bottles of local/regional/small batch craft spirits if they were home decanted and labeled? We're fans of alcohol of all sorts! We drink scotch and whiskey the most (I buy him a bottle of 10 y/o scotch for Christmas), then other liquors, probably wine the least. We are definitely set for glassware and bar ware. A bartender's bible would be snazzy, though. And sure! Sample bottles would be super awesome if you're willing to be shiesty and ship them.   97. I mostly burn Incense from India brand, I especially love their ambers, sandalwoods, Clove, Golden Vanilla, and Exotic Spice. Am not really a foody scent sort of being, though, so no on the pumpkin spice. I sometimes also burn Super Hit/Nag Champa, so hippy type stuff is ok. Lemongrass EO sounds fantastic! 114.
