Eden

In the imp I smelled something sharp and...cherry? Wet, very strong icky almonds. I almost washed it off right then, but forced myself to wait and see. As it's drying down, the sandalwood and coconut comes out and the almond calms down. Makes me think of sitting at an outdoor rest. on the beach in the evening. Something I would wear when I want a summer scent, but with a sexy twist. I like it, though I will have to try it another couple times before deciding on a bottle.   ETA: Tried it again and it's ok. I doubt I will get a bottle.

Eat Me

I normally don't like food scents, so this would definately not have been a scent I would've tried if it wasn't part of a group of imps I got. But wow, I am glad I did! I was so afraid that it was going to have that sickly sweet smell, but it doesn't! It was sweeter smelling in the imp, but not overly so. Just pure cake and vanilla. Once on it dried down to a warm vanilla with yummy yummy currants.. And I'm not a big vanilla fan (usually too sweet for my taste), but I LOVE this. The throw is good, but not too strong and lasts a fair amount of time. I'm really considering getting a bottle of this.

Dragon's Tears

Wet it started off a sweet floral and then very quickly went super soapy and stayed that way. Definately old lady bathroom/soap basket.   Off to the swap pile.

Dragon's Milk

In the bottle: A nice warm vanilla   Wet: Vanilla with something sharp...I swear it almost smells like bug spray?   As it's drying, it still has the chemical sharpness. I have no idea what went wrong, but I am not liking this. I will give it a while longer, hoping it will morph into something I like, but if it doesn't, it's off to swaps. Or perhaps it might work better in a locket?   ETA: Ok, now the sharpness has faded and it smells like a rich vanilla incense. Lovely. Will try again.

Dorian

Wet: A nice warm vanilla with a hint of lemon and musk. mmmm.....   As it dries the musks come out more. Yum!The lemon is still there, but just a hint and the vanilla is dark and warm, not overly sweet at all. I always hated vanilla scents because they were usually too sweet and made me ill. The lab changed that! I have finally discovered my love for vanilla. This is definately sexy and is going on my bottle list!     ETA: uh-oh. I'm getting a headache. I don't know if it's the perfume or not, but I think I'll wait on getting a bottle until I try it again to see.

Djinn

I got this mostly for hubby and omg, I am so glad I did! It smells so sexy on him! At first it was a smokey musk and then dried to a wonderful fresh and slightly sweet scent with just a hint of smoke in the background. I love it and will very likely be ordering a bottle. Of course, now I'm really wondering how it would smell on me? hmmm...     ETA: Tried it on me and it seems to have a bit more spice in it than on dh. I really like it.

Dirty

At first I did get the fresh linen, just washed scent. Then it turned a bt more floral (plumeria?). Hubby said it smells like walking into Bath and Body works (which he likes). I'll probably keep the imp, I think it would make a nice summer scent, but I don't think I'll buy a bottle. I'm glad I got to try it though.

Death on a Pale Horse

Wet: Very masculine cologne. Luckily it doesn't last too long.   Drying: Once again, smells different on each of my wrists. My right wrist amps the musk, my left amps the patchouli. The florals are beginning to come out, as is the sandalwood. Not getting any of the yuzu or lime. I think the lavender may be lurking underneath it all, but it's more of an impression.   It's a really lovely scent, though I think it might be better suited for hubby. Can't wait to try it out on him!

Caliban

This was actually the first bpal scent I wanted to try and I am soooo glad I finally did.   In the bottle it smells just like fresh cut grass. OMG, it is so yummy. I loved that smell growing up in Fla, the mix of cut grass and something wet. As it begins to dry a sweetness comes out and something floral. Also, a wonderful salty aquatic. I don't really get the wine, which is actually fine with me. It's very tropical and seductive. I absolutely LOVE it. Will definately get a bottle.

Brisingamen

I'm normally a little hesitant with amber. When it's good, it's goooood, but when it's bad it's just awful. And unfortunately, amber many times goes a bit pungent on me, or powdery.   This one doesn't do either (well, maybe just a touch powdery, but in a soft, pretty way). It's beautiful amber (strikes me as a darker amber blends perhaps) with a touch of creamy florals and a hint of spice. Very pretty!   I am definitely keeping my imp, but could actually see getting a bottle down the road.

Blood Pearl

Waahhhh, where is my coconut??? At first it's just strong and slightly sharp orris. As it dries the musk comes out and softnens it, but still no coconut. I think this would work better for hubby, though if I can find some single note coconut to layer this with, then I think I would love it for myself.

Black Pearl

Ooooh, I like this one. The coconut and musk were stronger when I first applied it, but then they faded and I catch a hint of the hazelnut and iris. I still smell the musk in the background, I just wish the coconut lasted longer. I'm glad I got a bottle and can't wait to see what it's like once the weather warms up.

Black Lily

I have found that most florals do not love me. For example, I had expected to love roses and hate lillies but I've found it's just the opposite.   This is just a beautiful scent. I would say that it strikes me more of an elegant scent, but thankfully, not an old lady one. At first it seems to be a fresher lily, but as it dries it becomes a creamier, more complex lily scent.   I really like it. I'm going to try it a few more times, but it might end up on my bottle list.

Bayou

Oh, wow, this stuff is potent! Caught be by surprise how strong it is.   Bayou is a very interesting aquatic. It's not a fresh clean aquatic nor is it a deep dark one. This one is definately murkier like a swamp. It reminds me summertime in Fla, canoeing under a canpoy of trees, hot and humid, somewhat dank, with a touch of swamp flowers and moss and wet vegetation. I think I really like this, though it does make me feel a bit homesick. Doubt I would buy a bottle, but I'm glad I got the imp.   ETA: Sadly, it ended up smelling like old, stale, really rank cheap drugstore perfume. Off to swap pile!

Bakeneko

At first it's a very generic perfume smell, with something...else that I can't quite put my finger on.   As it dries it becomes a slightly spicey amber musk with just a hint of citrus tea and something floral.   I think I really like this one and I'm glad I got a bottle. It semlls a bit more sophisticated on me than the other oils I tend to wear, but it's nice having something different. I have a feeling I will use this more during cool weather than in the summer.

Ashlultum

In the imp and on my fingers it's a very pretty, musky vanilla.   Wet on my wrists: Holy cow, LILAC! Wow, where did my wonderful vanilla and musk go? Where's my COCONUT???   Drying: Ah, thank you lilac for quieting down. You know, you really don't have to scream to be heard. And there is my coconut barely whispering to me and my vanilla and musk are coming out of hiding.   Dry: It's beautiful. Really. Everything has blended nicely and keeps slightly shifting. Very sexy and feminine, without being girly, trashy, or too sophisticated. I'm getting a bottle.

13 Nights of Halloween swap help

--What is your favorite Halloween/Trick-or-Treat candy and would you like to have it included? Candy Corn (has to be Brachs though, I'm a candy corn snob) and 3 Musketeers. Sure, but not too much.   --How much edible stuff do you want/would you expect? A little something in every package? A couple of treats along the way? Not too much edible stuff as I've put back on a few lbs lately. Need to cut back on the sugar a bit.   --Assuming that I have a budget of X, would you mind if there were one big package that is 1/2X with the rest significantly smaller, but still fun, or would you prefer a more 1/13X breakdown? I lean towards the first option, but really whatever is fine with me.   --Reveal - would you prefer it in the first package so we can chatter about things as you open, at the very end so you can drag out the surprise, or dealer's choice? Dealer's choice.   --If you've noted that you like coffee/tea/hot cocoa or anything of the sort, can you elaborate? Do you like/not like flavored varieties? Would you prefer whole bean/ground/bagged/looseleaf/instant/have-to-heat-it-in-a-pan-with-milk? Do you feel like you've answered this question over and over again? I slightly prefer ground, but whole bean is cool (we have a grinder). Love flavored, no preference as to loose or bagged, instant is cool. I'm pretty easy as long as it's yummy. Kitchen stuff? Say spatulas with skulls on or an apron with a Halloween theme (not that I'm fantasizing about making myself one from something like, say, this or anything) I don't cook and prefer to stay out of the kitchen.   A Game of Thrones: are you a fan of the TV series? Have you read the books or would you want to? Tried the books and just couldn't get into them. Watched one episode a couple months ago and thought it was funny (I was told it's not supposed to be that funny lol). Might try it again but I'm not in any hurry.   Would you like any home made jams? I can guarantee they are very yummy. I am not a jam person but dh and the kids like it. Decorative box? Probably not. We have a ton already, but if it's something unique or really fun, sure.   On a scale from horrified to enraptured, how do you feel about this fabric? (ETA: if it were to be, say, a bag? >.> ) I like it! I think it would make a fun bag. -Both Sihaya Designs and Elements and Artifacts did updates this week - anything that interests you? From Sihaya, and of the wing earrings. They are all gorgeous. From Elements, I love the Open Grave necklace and the DDLM earrings.   -I have a pretty massive farmer's market by me - is there anything that you would like from there? Maybe some honey?   -Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? BodyArtForms.com, amazon, Etsy   -Are there hot drinks that you like this time of year? If so, what would you like? Flavored coffees.   -Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Yes, but all very expensive. lol   -How about homemade infused vodkas? Nope, don't drink.   -Name five small things you could use, but might not think to get for yourself? One of those cups you stick in the freezer then put your drink in instead of using ice (am I making sense? lol), popcorn seasonings, not sure what else. I'll think about it. Jewelry: Gold or Silver? Either, though I like copper more than gold.   Whether you do or do not nail polish, would you be interested in nail wraps of any sort? Could be festive or not, any brand (in addition to things like Jamberry, there are plenty of other brands out there). No. I don't like stuff on my fingernails and I have enough for my toes.   Would you like some home...made(?) fall pictures or photos to frame or put in a photobook? I will stalk the toads in my yard for you! Any particular things you'd enjoy photos of? Spooky trees, toads are cool, neat looking moths, stuff like that. Do you like plushies? Maybe. I would love an Alien/facehugger type one, but not sure what else.   Lip balm: tin or tube? Neither please.   Do you or would you burn incense? What kind? How about scented (or unscented) candlesWe can't burn incense anymore due to asthma and migraine issues.   Do you prefer physical books, or would some form of e-reader book be okay? And if ebook, do you prefer Kindle, Nook, iBooks, or something else? Either would be fine. I have a kindle. I do have a lot of of kindle books like Lovecraft, Poe, etc.   Oh, and are you okay with Graphic Novels/Comics? Sure, though I prefer the really twisted kind and horror ones. Skulls? Yes please! I collect skulls, skeletons, etc. Any and all. If I were going to make you a polymer figurine-or-pendant-or-earrings-or-..., is there any particular thing you'd like more than other things(ex: a tiny 'you', or witch's hat earrings, or a ghost pendant, etc.)? Not earrings since I don't really wear traditional earrings. Maybe a pendant? Something like a hatchet or body part? More gruesome than cute? lol   Are there any books or short stories (or poems) you especially associate with this time of year or always want to reread in autumn? Not really   Speaking of wishlists, and here is another question... could everyone please link to their various wishlists? http://amzn.com/w/3F0132MYIB7XS List 5 or 6 TV shows/Movies that you enjoy watching (and possible villains, if you can think of any): My list: Doctor Who (Weeping Angels, the Silence) Firefly Supernatural Alien series (love these, in fact I'm getting a xenomorph tattoo next year). Star Trek (not the new movies though ) Twin Peaks The Walking Dead I love movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Halloween, The Evil Dead, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Hellraiser, etc).   Hated Candies? Black licorice, taffy, twizzlers, anything really chewy (like caramels). How sick a sense of humour can you cope with? I have a truly sick and twisted sense of humor. I highly doubt anything would go too far. Food items I would love to eat again? Not that I can think of. I'll give it some more thought though. Mixed cd? Sure.   Bath and body companies? I'm open to trying whatever. Just no hair stuff (check out my avatar for explanation lol). Also, no face products please (my piercings can get irritated by certain things). What kind of tea do you like? Mate teas are just about the only ones I drink anymore.   Vintage scary? Yes!   Do you have any favorite Halloween/fall-theme animals? Bats.   I do a lot of resin work, specifically, insects in resin. Would receiving one be horrifying? Okay? Interesting? Sure! Sounds cool. (just not roaches please)   What type of cellphone/mobile, music player, reader, tablet, or other gadgets are your babies? What are your opinions on accessories for them? Hard/soft cases, decals, danglies, carriers, etc? I have a Samsung Note 2 but I don't need anything for it (not that they even make much for my phone).   Fountain pens? Nope.   Are there any animals, birds or bugs that you don't like, scare you, or just plain freak you out? For example, I had a co-worker who thought owls were creepy, and personally, I'm not a huge fan of cockroaches.   There aren't any that scare me. though I found crickets, cockroaches and palmetto bugs disgusting, cicadas both weird me out and intrigue me (there are some kick ass cicada ear weights I'm saving up for), and spiders don't really bother me too much. Oh, and I hate possums. As for little plastic critters, no thank you. My animals have not been graced with much intelligence so they will try to eat them.
