Switch Witch Fall 2014

Hi, Witch! The questionnaire said we should not include wish list links in it due to issues with links not translating, so I'm going to put them here, followed by answers to questions posted in the thread, so everything will be in one convenient spot. Wish lists: BPAL BPTP Amazon Etsy (probably not super up-to-date, but useful for ideas maybe) Pinterest wish list board Q&A 1. I wonder what a potential witchee would think about being bombarded with PUMPKINS in various formats. Because my current obsession just may last long enough to be of use in spoiling.....but I know wouldn't be appreciated by everyone. Would you appreciate it?!? I pumpkin in all forms. 2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread). Sure! That would be awesome. 3. Trading Post wants? I love the Miskatonic U candle. Right now, waiting for Halloweenie update! 4. What direct sellers do you not like and would prefer not to get things from? And also feel free to list any retail brands you really don't like. Not crazy about Mary Kay or Avon, or any food company. 5. How about y'alls coffee and tea preferences? I love coffee and tea. I am anti-Keurig. 6. Do you cook? Would kitchen accessories make you happy? Not much. My hubby does most of the cooking. I bake (cookies, banana bread, that sort of thing) and have a few dishes that I'm very good at making. THAT SAID... my mom just bought us a food dehydrator, so I'm interested in learning about drying stuff. 7. How do people feel about creative endeavours? Would you like to receive one? Or supplies to make your own? What do you like? Drawings, stories, poems? Of course! I would love any sort of creative endeavor my witch sent. 8. What culture or country (doesnt have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you? I love Italy. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there (and he'd visited before). We weren't in an especially touristy area, and we really loved the lifestyle. Lots of small local shops, lots of walking and taking trains. We love the old buildings too (whereas here people seem to have this throwaway attitude; things aren't built to last). It was wonderful. 9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)? I would love to have my cat, Simon, in a format suitable for a tattoo. 10. What do you find yourself doing for fun in your free time? What are your main hobbies and interests? Reading and gaming are my primary downtime activities (and I read A LOT). Currently, I'm way into Final Fantasy XIV, gaming-wise. I like yoga. Sometimes I like making jewelry. I used to go to the gym (our local YMCA) a lot, but due to finances this year, I don't have a current membership. I hope I can renew soon. 11. Table-top gaming? If yes, what kind, edition, etc? Gaming accessories you long for? I desperately wish we had a local D&D group. Right now we don't, so we don't have anything. 12. DVD movies or games that you wish would magically appear in your hands? Can they be used, through Amazon? We have blu-ray, and also an Apple TV. Used is just fine. Movie wishes: anything Alfred Hitchcock, Beauty and the Beast (Disney), The Cat Returns (anime), The Wind Rises (anime), Howl's Moving Castle (anime). 13. What kind of snacks or candy from other countries/states would you like to try? I'm open to anything that fits within my likes/dislikes from questionnaire. Other info that I forgot to include: I don't like marzipan, and I only like coconut in savory things (like curry) or those little doughnuts with toasted coconut on top. I really don't like, for example, Mounds-style candies. 14. Do you have a favorite internet meme, character or pop culture fandom? I don't think I could pick a favorite fandom if I tried! 15. Do you have a Facebook profile (or other social media) that you are comfortable linking to aid your witch in stalking? Please note whether you are willing to add BPALers as friends. I think I put them in my questionnaire. Yes, I'm happy to add BPALers as friends. 16. Anybody interested in something from RCCC, whether it's con-exclusive merch or from a particular exhibitor or artist? Nothing specific, but if my witch saw something she thought I'd like, go for it! 17. How important to you is regular contact / chatter with your witch? I like to be in contact with my witch, and chattiness is great! But I also understand that my witch could be busy, shy, etc. so if you get me and that's you don't feel pressured! If you *are* chatty, by all means, email away. 18. Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing? Yes! 19. If you were to receive music, would you want a physical CD or digital versions? I've digitized pretty much all my music at this point, but if my witch sent a CD, I could always rip it, so no big deal. 20. Whats a current problem/annoyance you have that could be remedied but you havent had time to address it? I'd have to think about this one. Nothing comes immediately to mind. 21. How do you feel about having some sort of trinket to carry around for good luck/wishes? i.e. a small figurine, symbol, card, coin That would be cool. 22. Are you superstitious about anything? Any things you can't have in your house for that reason bad associations? Nothing that I can think of that a witch would remotely send. 23. For the vegetarians and vegans: How do you feel about things (say, marshmallows or gummy candy) made with vegan gelatin or other typically-animal-derived-but-not-in-this-instance products? NA for me, but I now that you mention gummies... I love Haribo gummy bears. I understand that they have other gummies too, but the traditional bears are the only ones we can get in our area. 24. Ok, so we've covered pumpkin. How do you feel about the other fall classic – apples? Personally, I love them. I may have more apple scents than pumpkin ones, in fact, and of course, yum! Apples, apple cider, apple pie (not that a pie would ship well!)... On the other hand, I'm not fond of "green apple" flavored things (think: Skittles, Jolly Rancher, etc.), although I love actual Granny Smiths. Favorite apple: winesap. 25. Do you have any fabric or skin-contact aversions? I think this was in my questionnaire. 26. How do you feel about Christmas/Yule ornaments? Not quite ready for them yet. 27. How do you feel about Hello Kitty, and Hello Kitty accessories (including mugs, cups, etc)? I love Hello Kitty (who is a cat; don't be ridiculous, Sanrio) and also Chococat, although not as much as Tokidoki cats. 28. If you had a week free where you could learn anything, with no financial restrictions, what would you want to study? I'm a huge wine nerd, and I would love to take a serious wine course, like a week-long workshop or something. I'd also really love to take another course like the ones offered here (I took her Witchcraft 101 course online and really enjoyed it). 29. Do you enjoy poetry? Who are your favorite poets and what type of subject matter do you like? Yes. I'll have to come back to this. I worked really hard on this question last night (before my hubby closed the browser tab I left open, ARGH!) and I'll have to start over again. 30. Would you enjoy receiving something related to a favorite Disney character? Sure. I like the cats! 31. How do you feel about cute things as decorations or accessories? (Example: Would you enjoy this stationery - or do you prefer elegant/creepy/neutral stuff?) Sure, I would like that (but I probably wouldn't use stationery much; I'd prefer something more along the lines of cards or notepads). 32. What is something you'd really like to receive from your witch? Please be as specific as possible - no, "Oh whatever she thinks is fine!" Getting to know my witch is always my favorite part. I love it when my witch sends something she's made, or things she loves from where she lives (for example, one witch sent me coffee roasted in her hometown). 33. CD books? eBooks? If eBooks do you have preferred format, kindle/nook/kobo/PDF/ePub/ect? eAudio? I prefer eBooks (Kindle, Nook, ePub, whatever). I LOVE audiobooks (and I do have an audible account, the email on the account is the one in my questionnaire). 40. Smut! Yes or no? If yes, what kink, er, kind? I do enjoy some smut. I love Mei Lin's work. I also tend toward MM romance of the sort written by and for women. 41. Ebooks! Yes or no? Yay! 42. If you were to get a custom bottle from House of Gloi made for you what notes would create your perfect blend? Ooooh. I love Haus of Gloi (Ghost Puffs! Must have all the Ghost Puffs!). A perfect blend for me: Leather, tobacco, woodsmoke, vanilla. 43. If your witch were to take a photograph (or paint or whatever) of something just for you, what would it be? Landscape? Flower? Critter? Something to illustrate a favorite quote? Something with a cat, or a beautiful fall landscape, with colorful leaves. 44. What is your favorite Halloween animal or other symbol/decoration? Black cats, bats & witches are my favorites. 45. Makeup, especially of the indie variety. Nail polish, nail wraps, eyeshadow, lipstick/gloss, etc. Y/N? Specific preferences (color, finish, product, brand, etc.)? Favorite brands: Urban Decay, Benefit. I'm starting to get into Nyx. Indie-wise, I like Meow Cosmetics, and I'm open to trying others too, particularly ones that have bright, high quality pigments. I love eye shadows and nail polish with that cool color shift effect. I would love to try Enchanted Polish. 46. How do you feel about profanity and off-color humor? I have no problem with that. 47. I make hairsticks...would you like/use them? My hair is only chin length, so it would probably be too short. 48. Does anyone here LARP? If so, what kind of LARP? And what kind of character do you play? I wish, but sadly no. No one much to LARP with in our area. 49. Would you completely freak out if I sent you a chocolate covered scorpion or some other food oddity? This includes things like 'bacon powder' from thinkgeek.com. I wouldn't freak out. I'm pretty adventurous. (I don't know if I'd eat a chocolate covered scorpion, though.) 50. This has kind of been covered, but, are you ok with receiving canned jam (from a veteran jammer!) and if so, what flavors would you like and not like? Sure. Things I wouldn't like: carrot, celery (not sure if either of those would even be an option), pineapple. Something I would love: some kind of yummy tomato jam, strawberry jalapeno jam (someone made some this summer and it was crazy good), something along the lines of a blackberry ginger jam. Hope that's helpful! 51. Let's talk nail polish. What colors do you love? Hate? Which brands are you dying to try? Have you ever used indies? Do you like glitter? Any textures to avoid (glitter, sand, etc)? Brands I'd love to try: Enchanted Polish, A England, Butter London. Have no texture issues. Colors to avoid: yellow (ugh) and blue (I WANT to use this but it always makes me look like I have corpse hands). Colors I love: Purple (of course), red (particularly deep reds), pink, nudes with a pink or purple base. I love shimmery/color shift polish. I love bright and interesting colors (in makeup also) and have no need to be concerned about "office colors" (that's why I'm the bitch in charge). 52. How do you feel about getting a special Halloween plushie? I would love it. 53. I'm in Japan, anything specific you might want from the land of the rising sun? Sadly, I'm guessing you can't ship sushi direct to my door? Hehe. Anyway, let's see... Kit Kats in crazy flavors, Studio Ghibli stuff, cool chopsticks (mine are getting pretty worn out), Maneki Nekos, wasabi or other spicy, crunchy snacks, stickers. 54. Are there any GC scents that you know you love, but for whatever reason, keep putting off buying bottles of? Not that I can think of off the top of my head, but check my BPAL wish list. 55. I know not everyone likes Lush products, but if you do, which Lush items would you like to get from your Witch? Lush wishes & faves: D'Fluff (dying to try it), Jackie Oates, Ocean Salt, Dream Cream, It's Raining Men. I'd like to try their makeup too. 56. Is there anywhere (in the US) that you are dying to get away to? Also when would you be able to get away. Would this even be something you were interested in? If so, go look at the Southwest sale for routes and dates and times. Right now we're really focused on saving for a trip to Brussels (hopefully) later this fall. My hubby has been invited to speak at a seminar. 57. If you are ok with receiving t-shirts, what size are you, do you prefer tissue tees, normal crew tees, babydoll etc? Size L. I prefer tissue tees. 58. THINKGEEK! Who loves it - do you have a wishlist on there?? What are some things you are jonesing for on there for under $20? Love it! Blind box Tokidoki cactus kitty (everything else on my wish list is t-shirts and stuff) 59. Zombies, yes or no? Yes 60. Would you like arm warmers/fingerless gloves? If so, what length? just beyond the wrist, almost to the elbow, full sleeves? Love them! I wear them all fall and winter. I like them just-past-the-wrist style the best (and only have a gray pair of those, so I'd love more colors). 61. Do you feel a particular affinity for a specific animal/s? I think by now my witch knows the answer to this one. 62. Anyone have any Paintbox Soapworks loves? Yes! Right now, I'd like some Punkie Night and Indian Summer (are there more Halloweenie ones coming out soon?). What I really, really love is Hayley's new sensitive skin facial scrub (I got to be a tester!) but I don't think it's available yet. I love it, and desperately need more. 63. How would you feel if your witch or a minion of your witch showed up in person at your house with goodies? Thrilled? Annoyed? Completely creeped out? That would be cool with me, but probably not as cool with my dogs. I have a german shepherd who's super protective, and a Catahoula mix who just follows along with him. So... probably better to let me know in advance! 64. Do you have a ravelry account? Tell me about your yarn obsessions. I'm still learning. 65. Sock Dreams, yay or nay? Yay! Very much yay. 66. Knitted items like scarves, shawls, dishclothes....yay or nay? Favorite fibers? Favorite colors? I would love that (although not dishclothes, since we use sponges). Natural fibers, and fave colors are in my questionnaire. 67. Is your Amazon WL up-to-date? Pretty much, yeah. I don't think there's anything on there I've already bought. 68. If you were to receive handmade caramels, would it matter if they were made with raw cream (unpasteurized)? That would be excellent. 69. Would you enjoy getting a sampling of quality incense taken from various sources? Are there types of incense you know you don't like? Would you want a burner for loose incense and a few charcoals to get you started with that, or would you rather stick to simpler types? I'd love that, and I would like a burner for loose incense and some charcoals. I don't have a very good burner (I'm actually just using a flat candle holder), and I'm almost out of charcoal. 70. I know we already had a question about needed kitchen accessories, but what about spices? Sure! That would be great. 71. Would you like handmade stationary or cards? How about a quill pen? Handmade cards would be lovely. I'm not sure about a quill pen. Are they hard to use? 72. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "gimme that ghost pepper!" and 1 being "oh, that's a bit too much black pepper for me" Where is your heat tolerance? I would say a 10, although I'm actually not that crazy about the flavor of ghost peppers. 73. What is your favorite type of Halloween candy? If we're talking "things you mostly only see at Halloween," I'd have to go with Mary Janes (those yummy peanut butter candies in orange and black wrappers). 74. Do you need or want any cosy footwear, like fluffy slippers, or slipper socks etc? When someone asked about Thinkgeek and I went to check my wish list, I sort of fell in love with these, although usually I like the kind that are like a cross between a fuzzy sock and a Mary Jane (shoe, not candy). 75. What do you most look forward to each Fall? Basically everything about it. 76. What gadgets do you use in your everyday life and would you like a cool case for them - with your favourite fandom or artwork or saying? I'm hoping to pick up an iPhone 6 this week or next, and I'd need a case for it, but you know how that goes. Usually it takes awhile for companies to make cool cases. 77. Are there any beauty accessories you need or would like? For example make-up brushes, facial brushes or eyelash curlers. I can always use more eye shadow brushes. 78. Would you be disappointed to get one big box, or would you prefer a bunch of little ones? And would you be disappointed if your witch actually had it together early and sent it to you sooner than later? Either is fine with me. 79. Stores are putting out their halloween PJs and undies! Would you be happy to get any in a package? And if so, what size? For PJ pants, do you like cotton or flannel? Um... how to put this... I'm not really a PJs kind of girl. Ahem. 80. Do you like M&Ms? I prefer Pandora (but I will mention that our Pandora subscription just expired and we haven't yet renewed it). 83. What scents from the Lillith update would you like to try? Lilly Witch sounds pretty great. (And I won't be ordering, because Weenies.) 84. Would you be interested in receiving a box of sugar cube skulls? Those are pretty cute. 85. Skin care routine? Fave cleanser? Toner? Moisturizer? What about body lotions? Any particular brand or scent? Lip balms? Yay or nay? Now here's a question I can answer in detail! My routine: In the morning: I typically use a gentle scrub (my new fave is the upcoming Paintbox one for sensitive/dry skin, although I'm out of my sample and right now using the St. Ives apricot kind) with my Clarisonic. Then a Peter Thomas Roth Unwrinkle Peel pad, followed by Urban Decay b6 prep spray, Clinque Laser Focus, Laser Focus eye cream, Josie Maran Argan Milk, Clinique Moisture Surge Intense, Urban Decay Illuminating beauty balm, and foundation primer (still trying to pick a favorite; I have like three deluxe-size samples I keep waffling between). Then makeup. At night: I use an oil-based cleanser (usually Josie Maran argan oil cleanser, but right now I have some of the Julep kind) and Burt's Bees peach makeup remover cloths (helps with eye makeup), then moisturize. I realize this is a lot of crap. I might be a tiny bit obsessive on this point. 86. Is there anything you would like from Salem MA (mugs, keychains, postcards, etc.or witchy supplies like incense, candles, books)? I would love Salem goodies! Mugs and postcards would be lovely, as would witchy supplies. I have a lot of incense, but I'm always looking for unscented candles in various colors, and books. I believe all the books in my witchy library are in my Goodreads for reference. 87. Would you be interested in any of the items in LisaNut's etsy shop? Her scarves are very pretty. 88. Spiders (as in cute knit kind) yes or no? Um... maybe? As long as we're talking cute and knit. I wouldn't be into anything at all realistic, but cute & knit would be just fine. 89. Pillows (the mostly decorative type)? I don't need any at the moment. 90. Any kind of bags - big, small, medium, purse, grocery, etc? I'm pretty well covered there. 91. Is there anything special coming up in your life? Yes! Hopefully (finances willing) my husband and I are going to Brussels later this fall (think end of November - mid December). He's been invited to speak at a seminar. Also, October 13 is our wedding anniversary. 92. Which one scent would you want from each of the following updates: Metamorphosis, Lilith and GC? I would love samples of local/regional/small batch craft spirits. 97. Would you like some chai, lemon, rose water or other flavored sugar cubes? Sure! I've never had any, but they sound fun for tea. 98. Jamberry nail wraps? I've never tried them, but they look cool! 99. If you had to choose one currently available book (used-but-obtainable counts if you do used) costing $20 or under for your Witch to buy for you, what would it be? This. I don't think it's still in print, and I've tried to find it and had no luck. 100. Are there five things under $25 at Birchbox you would like? 1. Benefit Lollibalm (I bought one of these over the summer, loved it, then lost it on a weekend trip. ) 2. TokyoMilk Dark Lip Elixir in Salted Caramel (my absolute favorite lip balm) 3. I'd love to try A Stroll Through the Quarter, Mornings in New Orleans, Pralines & Powdered Sugar. 102. Street art! Into it? Not into it? Meh? Love it! 103. If you could only pick one note that you love (e.g. Vanilla, Orange, Lavender, Rose) & you could only wear/have perfume, etc in that note, what would it be? Ooh, that's tough. Either vanilla or apple. 104. What are you interested in from the NYCC exclusive list? Oh my. Apples! Lips of Flame and Heart of Stone, The Gas Lamps' Flare, The Bear in the Cellar, either of the Eve's Big Apple Hair Glosses. 105. Most anticipated "Weenie blends? Oh my. I would love to try: Bonfire, Last Year’s Stale Candy Corn, Pile of Fallen Leaves, Pumpkin I, Pumpkin II, Pumpkin Spice Everything, Visions of Autumn III, Tattie Bogle (actually I have tried this one; I had an imp and liked it). I haven't ordered anything yet. Have to wait for funds to make themselves available. 106. Caffeine or no? And is this a health or preference? Caffeine is fine. I don't like energy drinks, though. They're just... gross, usually. 107. Are you interested in anything from the MAC Rocky Horror or the e.l.f. Disney Princess make up collections? Sadly, the Rocky Horror colors don't look like ones I could wear. I don't know about the e.l.f. ones. I've never tried e.l.f. 108. I pass this shop every day, If you were my witchee would you like a custom chocolate bar? What would you choose? Plain, white or milk and with what? 109. Would you like to try chocolate covered Turkish Delight or flower flavoured things (Rose and Violet chocolates)? Yum! Praline & sea salt. Rose and violet look great too. I love to try new/unusual things. 110. For those of you who like Fantasy or play Dungeons and Dragons... would you be interested in a custom painted miniature? If so, what gender, race and class? Any preferences for a theme, color scheme, preferred weapons/armor, etc? Specific character description you would want me to try to hit? Female half-elf mage, chaotic neutral, is my usual jam. 111. Are there any local or national charities that are close to your heart that you know would appreciate a donation in your name? Locally, my favorite is MBM Spay/Neuter Clinic. Nationally, I love love love Big Cat Rescue and Best Friends Animal Society. 112. I have two partial (Backup) bottles of some scents on your wishlist, Witchee. However, the labels aren't perfect, due to a tragic imp explosion. Would you still be ok with getting them? I am not a label perfectionist. It's what's inside that I love!

Awesome farmer's market by my house. They have a local honey stand (which also sells things made from local honey like Propolis tincture!); there's a small apothecary and she additionally makes soaps and hand-made, hand-poured scented candles; plus a guy that makes an array of BBQ and Hot Sauces. Does ny of this appeal? Would you like anything from my local farmer's market?

Those are really pretty! I wear cool colors, typically purples and pinks, although I like greens too. And sometimes I do shades of peach.

Here are the tarot decks that I currently have: The Lumina Tarot, The Marseille Cat Tarot, The Art Nouveau Tarot, The Wild Unknown Tarot, Tales of the Mystical Cats, Spirit Cats (oracle deck), The Tarot of Pagan Cats, The Earthbound Oracle, The Cleopatra Tarot, The Vertigo Tarot, Gateway to the Divine Tarot, Revelations Tarot, The Amanda Palmer Tarot. Sure! I'm pretty good with both of these but it's always useful to get another's perspective. I was born 2/1/79 at 1:10 pm in Norton, VA, USA. In case you want to do anything synastry-wise (which I would love to learn more about), my husband was born 2/17/73 at 7am in Tampa, FL, USA.

Does my Witchee need any magical supplies?
That would be fabulous. I always need more stones / crystals (some faves: labradorite, purple/green fluorite, moonstone, rhodonite; if you wanted to send me something I don't have, poke me, and I'll make a list . Herbs are always good too, particularly things I can't grow here (things I grow and therefore always have on hand: sage, rosemary, thyme, basil, wormwood, rue, pennyroyal, bergamot, betony, feverfew). Little bottles for storing herbs are great too (all mine are full). Incense or incense paraphernalia. Really, whatever you thought would be cool to send would be appreciated and used. I know that some people like to choose all their own altar tools and such, but I think that receiving things like that as a gift imbues them with more significance than something I just bought on Etsy. And I'm also very open to old things / (inexpensive) antiques for this purpose.

My hubby is more the chef than me, except when it comes to baking. I included my furbabes in my questionnaire. And yes, if you're so inclined. I think I have the feather toys my kitties prefer on my Amazon list (lol) and I can also use the narrow version of the corrugated cardboard scratchers. And the puppy! Lupa is 9 months old and still very chewy, so she needs toys. The problem is our big girl, Veela, likes to turn things into pieces of things. Like, in a matter of minutes. I really can't exaggerate how destructive she is. So anything we get has to be super sturdy. As an example, we've had some luck with the Kong Wubba toys (the really tough ones, not the plush ones). Also, no ropes (Veela tears them apart in 5 minutes and tends to swallow the strings... if you have dogs, you can imagine the results ).

Like beer? What styles most appeal to you?
Yes. My favorites are: sours (think more Flemish sour than, say, that watermelon gose crap); various Belgian styles; Lambics (but not usually cherry); German hefeweisens; stouts (but not Imperials); ambers and browns, particularly nut browns. I'm not a big fan of IPAs and other really hoppy styles.

Like booze? What kinds?
NOT RUM. Anything but rum, lol. It gives me headaches (as in, one drink will give me a headache). Faves: Scotch, bourbon, good tequila, vodka. In terms of liqueurs, I like Baileys (or other Irish Creams), Chambord (or similar), Kahlua, various absinthe-like things.

Like Wine? What kinds?
So very much. I'm a huge wine nerd. Cabernet Franc is my favorite varietal, followed by Mourvedre / Monastrell. Geographically, I tend to favor Italians, and wines from Oregon (particularly their Pinot Noirs) and Washington. I love tart or dry German Reisling (Kabinett or drier), especially the tart ones (yes, I like my Reisling to basically taste like Sweet Tarts; so sue me). I'm a big fan of rosé (not that White Zinfandel bullshit; real rosés), particularly those made from Cab. In general, I prefer old world style reds. I like them complex and interesting. This isn't to say that I don't like new world stuff, because I do, but I prefer they not be too jammy / fruit bomb-y. I drink less white wine than red, but I do like it, particularly French whites. I rarely like sweet or dessert wines. I rarely like Sauvignon Blanc, because I don't like the "green bell pepper" note that so many of them have.

Oh but wait! Whoever came up with these three questions forgot my other beverage love: CIDER! This is the best cider on the planet. My personal fave is the Stayman Winesap, followed by First Fruit. In general, I prefer cider made champegnoise style like this one (which is not to say I won't drink others).

Things like nail polish / decals / etc. would be ok, but nothing that goes on skin. My skin is too sensitive.

I collect records! That's my favorite way, although given money and space constraints, I only buy things I really love in that format. Otherwise, I listen to mp3s using iTunes or Amazon Music (I have an Echo, so I either buy from Amazon or copy things I buy through iTunes to my Amazon account), or listen to Pandora.

Do you prefer reading on Kindle or actual book? What kind of books do you like? Would you like to be surprised with a scary, classic, horror book?
Usually I prefer Kindle books (although I can use any ebook format, and also have the Nook app, so no worries there if you hate Amazon, dear witch; I know some people do). I prefer any kind of book that I might be flipping back and forth in for reference in print (examples: any kind of reference book, cookbooks, etc.). I often by books by favorite authors in print too. In any case, my Amazon list has the preferred format, or should. If you're not sure, just ask! And yes, I would love to be surprised with a scary, classic horror book. I'm sure you can get a good idea of my tastes from my Goodreads.

Candles, Incense, or wax tarts? Do you have favorite brands or Weenies scents for the home? Would you like to receive a wax tarts burner, incense burner, essential oils diffuser, or Halloweenie themed candle holders?
In order of preference: candles, incense, wax tarts. I LOVE Sihaya & Co.'s candles; they're my favorites. I would love an essential oils diffuser (I don't have one) or Halloweenie candle holders. FYI, I also do loose incense, so in terms of accessories, I can always use charcoal tabs too.

Witchee: are you interested in crafting materials?
Sure. I can always use things like: small cloth bags in various colors (think the size of the velvet-y bags you sometimes get from the Lab)

I love scarves. I would be open to trying a knitted washcloth, if the yarn is very soft. I'm weirdly sensitive to acrylics, so natural fibers are best. For the washcloth in particular, probably something really gentle like cotton, because I'd mostly be using it when I wash my face.

Not any specific character, but I wish I was one of the Cait Sidhe (from Seanan McGuire's October Daye series). If you've read the series, the why is obvious, but if not: they're fae cats who can shapeshift into human form.

If you could hop into a time machine and travel anywhere/anytime, where would it be and why?
I'm not one of those people who thinks "I was born in the wrong era" or whatever. Things aren't perfect now, but they were even shittier for women in the past. The only thing I can think of is I might travel back a few decades to see a band I love and have never / will never get to see play live (Joy Division, for example), as long as I could hop right back here. I wouldn't mind skipping 45's entire presidency, either, except I'm too afraid I'd go forward and find he's nuked us all. Sigh. Moving right along.

I'd rather meet fellow BPAListas I only know online than meet a celebrity. Except maybe Seanan McGuire, because I happen to know she's a fan, so she'd probably enjoy a meet & sniff.

Yes! I love Alicia's work. For stylistic reference, I added the ones I have to my Purchased Loves list on Etsy. The Triple Moon is my current favorite. I'm also crazy about the pumpkin earrings she does in the fall.

Yes. I'm particularly fond of things like cute (but still styled / large enough to be useful) post-its and stickers. I love pens too, but I'm a little particular about them. My handwriting is basically illegible with larger-point pens, so I go for the really fine point ones (0.5 or less). It can be kind of hard to find good ones.

Are you interested in anything from Cocoa Pink? I wouldn't mind trying their Coco Mango Butter.

- Or Haus of Gloi? I am slightly obsessed with Pumpkin Butter. YMMV, but it's the best body butter I've used (and I have dry skin, so I've tried a lot). Ghost Puffs is one of my favorite scents! I just got a sample of Grimoire and really liked it too, and I'd love to try Pumpkin Cake Pops, Hex, Salted Caramel, and Candy Corn. Product-wise (aside from beloved pumpkin butter and of course perfume), I love whipped soap (when they're available) and I'd love to try their bathing dust, hair oil, or scrub.

Would you be interested in a Halloween wreath? Yes! I love having a nice door wreath.

Are you interested in anything from the Moonalisa Halloween update? Sure! Things that look especially nice: lip butters, shower gel, butter cream, bath soaks, candles... well, pretty much anything except the hair conditiner. I *really want* to try these indie conditioners and shampoos, but my hair is color treated (very color treated, as you will see if you check out my Instagram and such), and they never list whether their products are color safe or not, so I don't risk it. :/

What are your coffee and/or tea preferences?
Coffee: Whole beans, and I prefer medium-to-dark roasts. Some faves for reference: This is my local coffee hookup, and I am obsessed with Monsoon Malabar, Mysore Nuggets, and Espresso Milano. So roasts in that vein would be awesome.

Tea: Black, green, white, herbal, I like them all. I like Chai too. Here's the description of one of my faves, Black Cats & Pointy Hats by Dryad Tea: "All things autumn, mulled spices and apples. Delightful with honey and great to drink as crisp leaves fall from trees ready to sleep for the season." Gadgetry-wise, the only thing I can think of would be one of those tea travel mug type things.

How would you feel about receiving a hand-painted container for your bpal and/or other treasures? That would be so fabulous!

- What are your faves if you are? Ingredient-wise, I'm all about snail good & ferments. Some fave products: Mizon Snail Repair Eye Cream & Snail Recovery Gel Cream; Manyo Factory Lactobacillus Bifida Mist (Pumpkin ferment! And you remember I said I love pumpkin butter? I am a firm believer in all things pumpkin, and they also have a pumpkin ferment serum I'd love to try); Acwell 5.5 Bubble Free pH Balancing Cleanser; Neogen BioPeel pads (I like the wine ones best); RE:P's Bio Fresh Mask with Calming Herb; and practically anything Klairs makes. I have sensitive skin that tends toward dryness, and Klairs, RE:P, and Neogen have been really good to me on that front. I love them. I love sheet masks too.

- Some stuff I would like to try: I'm hearing a lot about camellia oil, and would love to try one of those products. I'd also like to try more of the bath & body K-Beauty stuff.

Probably the most significant / important thing is that I'm studying the Sorcery of Hekate with Jason Miller. So, working to build a relationship with her and be initiated into her mysteries. I'm an eclectic solitary practitioner, and this is really the first formalized tradition I've worked in. It was an investment, and I waffled about it for ages before signing up at the last minute, but I'm really glad I did.

I also took Aeolian Heart's astrology course DISCOVERY, and again, that was awesome. I had taken her free HEARTBEAT email course previously, and learned a lot, but DISCOVERY gave me a much more in-depth knowledge of not only "how to read an astrological chart," but also how to work with astrological forces in witchery. I feel like I've totally leveled up.

~ NON-WITCHY STUFF ~
K-Beauty! I've always been into skincare, but this has really upped my game.

Yoga: this is not new, but several years ago my yoga teacher stopped teaching when she had a baby... and she never came back to teaching. I'd made friends among the small group of us who took her classes, and although I still see them occasionally, it definitely hasn't been the same. I was really, really upset, actually. I have social anxiety, and it's hard for me to make friends, so I took it pretty hard. And trying to find a new class, having to deal with being "the new person" again, felt kind of overwhelming. Anyway, I've really wanted to go back, and when I started working with a friend who's a life coach, she was super encouraging and helped me get over my bullshit and try out a new studio... which I love. I'm super happy to be practicing again, and I've made some new yoga friends there, and even have my husband coming in with me once a week.

What are your feelings about Scooby Doo? It was one of my favorite, if not the favorite, cartoons growing up. I love it.

How do you feel about indie makeup (read: loose eyeshadow, blush, highlighter)? Yay! I love it. I've been wanting to try Black Moon Cosmetics. I like Rituel de Fille, although I don't like how pricey they are. I also got a really great liquid lipstick from Notoriously Morbid in a Sihaya & Co. box and I love it. It's one of very few liquid lipsticks I've tried that I like, so I'd love to try more of their stuff.

And my new favorite that I'm loving so so much: Steal the Stars. So well produced, such good acting. And it's a discrete story, not an ongoing series, that's more like an old-fashioned radio play (there's no "this is a podcast" element to the fiction; it's just audio drama).
