Wishlist!

Ta-da! My lovely wishlist! Well, at least the beginnings of one. There is so much to choose from!   These are scents I have never tried before, so I would definitely rather try imps of these than bottles first (for the most part).   This Wishlist is being Updated! Switch Witch Help Page!

Switch Witch Info/Past Questions   Would you like to receive ATCs (artist trading cards) or would you prefer something more usable, like bookmarks or something? It's all good! I love artsy things that I can put up on my walls. Don't really use bookmarks though. I lose them too easily.   What witch would like a cloak? Yes please!! I have one that I already made myself, but it is a 3 layer cloak (very heavy) for when things get really cold. I wouldn't mind a more lightweight one.   If your witch were to send you cookies, what kind of cookies would you like? Snickerdoodles!! Chocolate chip is good too. I don't like nuts or mint though.   Since we're talking about warm winter wearables, who likes hats? Mittens? Arm warmers? Hats are awesome! Arm warmers too! I don't think I would wear mittens though.   How does everyone feel about steampunk? Awesome! Only learned about it recently, but I can't wait to find out more and make a costume and all.   Question: who (of course excluding Schackjj ) would like a pair of handknit socks? Size? Color preference? Cabled, ribbed (for your pleasure), stranded colorwork, etc.? I like socks!! stripes are good, but I have no color preferences or style preferences. Oh, I do like socks that go up to my knee...   how do people feel about unusual ornaments? As in, for holidays other than Christmas? Awesome!! I haven't gotten to decorate a tree yet. Better get started soon...   On a similar note, who likes yarn? What kinds/colors/weights/fibers? Handspun? Glitter? Funky art yarn made from shredded jeans, fake flowers, lace, sequins, and the tattered souls of your enemies? Other craft supplies you desperately want more of and can't live without? I can't knit to save my life!! I used to do jewlery making and wouldn't mind some kind of pendants to put on a necklace and decorate...   Which witches would like hair accessories: clips, scrunchies, hairsticks, headscarves, etc? I don't really like clips or scrunchies. I used to adore hairsticks though. Hand beaded jewellery, yay or nay?   To make up for the fact that I probably won't be able to send my witchee homebaked goodies, will Tim Tams in any number of varieties be an acceptable replacement? TIM TAMS!! I had an Aussie friend at camp who would receive them in the mail. She would always share. Mmmmmmmmmm! Love!   Is there any time during the holidays (or the rest of the round) when you'll be away from home for a significant period and it'd be best not to send anything by mail? I am going to be gone from the address that I gave on the questionaire from Dec. 13th to Jan. 5th or so... Yay for heading home for Christmas! There will still be someone at my place though to pick up the mail. The only problem is that she has a hard time actually getting me my mail...   Speaking of which, how many Browncoat witches do we have?? I think I spend half of my life at Starbucks.   Question: do you like to cook? if so, what? Would you like things like spices, cookbooks, recipes, tips? I love baking more than cooking. I wouldn't mind some good recipe cards for sweet things to make. Cookies, cakes, pound cakes, bars.... I love making sweet things!   What Winter Holiday do celebrate? Christmas!!   Do any of you like puzzle books? I do sudoku a lot at work, but I usually do it online instead of on paper.   Are there any other forums that you frequent? Nope. Except for the BPAL forums of course!   What is the biggest problem or sad thing in your life? Of course, I mean the saddest or worst thing you can confess here. Nothing really sad. I just feel really stressed right now. I am in my last year of college and it feels like there is still so much I have to complete. I really need some destressor stuff! It is kind of hard to remember how it feels to do something other than work. I do fun things every once in awhile, but the memory of those fun times are being drowned in the monotony of work and school work. I need more breaks....   Boxes, baskets, etc.? Oh, my!! I have such a box fetish!! Hee hee! I love big boxes and small boxes and weird shaped boxes and wood boxes and colorful boxes...... It's just always a mystery what's inside! I feel happy all over again every time I find something in one of my boxes. I guess that might sound kinda silly... Baskets are pretty awesome as well, but I have found that they break pretty easily in my possession.   Are you planning on buying anything off your BPAL wishlist during the round?   Which reminds me... I have to go update my wishlist.... Noooo! The horror! Nope, I am not planning on buying anything off my wishlist. In fact, I usually purchase things off my wishlist just on a whim. And anything off the Love It list in my blog I already have, but definitely wouldn't mind more of.   What are 3 places that you'd like to visit, or re-visit?   Siena, Italy! The Palio is awesome!! I was in the porcupine contrada (neighborhood). Anything having to do with the Palio is excellent! And of course the whole horse race thing is just so suspenseful.   Raglan, Wales! The Castle is pretty. I spent a few days here at a medieval festival. Beautiful place with the greenest grass you would ever see.   And I would love to visit Venice again. I was there for two days, but that was definitely not enough time to explore and see the city fully.   Chocolate? White chocolate isn't one of my favorites, but in the right recipe, it is awesome!! I LOVE milk chocolate and dark chocolate pretty equally. Oooooh, especially chocolates filled with caramel or peanut butter... Mmmmmmmm!   On nut intolerance - does it include things like almond/coconut oil bases and essential oils in perfume oils, skincare products, scented candles and the like? I don't have an allergy to nuts, but I don't really like them at all. Especially coconut and almonds.   If you are a fan, who were your favorite Buffy and Angel characters? SPIKE!! He is so my favorite! In the Buffy Musical I loved his song "Rest in Peace". He was also pretty awesome when he switched over to Angel's series as a ghost...   Do you like Shakespeare? Which plays? I like "A Midsummer's Night Dream". Not really familiar with too many of his plays.   Question for the Class: Favorite Musical? Wow! That is way too hard to decide. I love "Rent", "Wicked", and "Phantom of the Opera" the most though.   Are there any rare (or even uber-rare) scents that you'd really like to try? I want to know everyone's BPAL holy grail! As for my BPAL holy grails... that would have to be HOD, Jingo-Kogo, Osiris v4, Count Dracula, and Antique Lace!! The rarest scents that I love.   How do you feel about Lush? Anything you want to try? I have never tried anything from them, but it sounds good...   Do you want to try the Will Call only Champagne scents? I signed up for a sniffie circle with the Champagne scents, so I am sure it will only make me want them more.... darn. Oh, and I would like to second the praise for apple/apple blossom scents from BPAL. Mmmmmmmmm! Ho, ho, ho sounds so awesome!   Do you play on-line games? Which one and which server? Do you need any funds/equipment/help adventuring? Nope, no online games at the moment. I am already on BPAL wayyyy too often!   Do you have traditional holiday movies you like to watch? Elf, Miracle on 34th Street, Nightmare Before Christmas (hee hee!), Christmas Story,   What are your "guilty pleasures" type movies? That you really secretly like but don't like to admit to it? Being a film major, I love all types of movies! Anyways, I hate to admit it to my fellow film majors at school that I love many of the action/adventure blockbusters. Iron Man, Indiana Jones, James Bond (especially James Bond!)... lots of things blow up and of course, excellent soundtracks!!   SCA? I am from the Kingdom of Caid *sings* Caid, the Kingdom of Caid, C-A-I-D, Caaaaaaaiiiidd! Woo hoo!   This is kind of a getting-to-know-you-type-thingie, but I always find it illuminating--what's on your computer desktop? Images? Color scheme? That is actually a very good question, and slightly funny... On my new desktop, I have a lightsaber duel scene my friend's little brother made for me. It is a lightsaber duel between my friend and I with a black yoshi type character in the background. The desktop picture for my laptop is a scene from lfgcomic.com where Richard (the best character ever!!) says, "This isn't where I parked my horse!" when he and his companions are facing a huge army of trolls (I think they were trolls...). Hee hee!   Anyone a fan of Goddess art? I love images of women, in beautiful poses, strong women, powerful women (No- Not Hilary ROFL) I like dark, vampire types too, not *too* dark- okay for general consumption type art too. So, I have held off on answering this one, but now I am ready! So, my witch sent me an ecard with a picture painted by Alfons Mucha. I guess I would consider this Goddess art and it is very lovely!! I always wondered where the beautiful paintings that make up a few icons here on bpal had come from. The dancer one was beautiful and probably my favorite so far. Anyways, I love posters and pretty things that can go on my walls! Decoration makes any place lovely!   How do you feel about Lush? Anything you want to try? I have heard about LUSH so much here on bpal, but I have still never checked it out. I would love to try anything from them!   How do you feel about home made lip balm, salt or sugar scrubs, soap, bath salts, etc? Love them!!   If you were to receive a hand-knitted item, what color(s) would you prefer AND are there any types of yarn that you just cannot handle (e.g. wool, llama, etc.) I can handle all types of yarn as far as I know. I love burgundy and black together. Oh, green and black as well! Like the Wicked Witch!!   Do you speak any languages besides English? How fluent are you? Would you be interested in literature in a foreign laguage - phrase books, fiction, childrens stories? I am passably good at Italian. I lived in Italy for only three months, so I had to learn out of necessity. I also know some arabic (I can read and speak it equally well, which is to say I can carry on a conversation about work, the weather, food, and a few other little things) and a tiny bit of spanish. Best at Italian though (and I love Italian everything!) Though arabic is such a pretty written language.   *stopped at page 83*

Switch Witch Halloween 2012

You are meeting up with someone on a casual lunch/early afternoon thing. This person is someone you want to impress/look good for (for whatever reason, not necessarily romantic, and not necessarily for business either). What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? Hmmm... I guess jeans, a nice shirt (either red or gray) and one of those loose open front long sleeve or half sleeve sweater things. Either black or gray. Yeah, the nice part of my wardrobe is seriously lacking.   You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? I think I'd love to be let loose in Macys. Well, actually I'd love to be in M&Co, but since that is a UK store, I guess Macy's is okay. I'd go for a lovely dress with a v neck in darker colors either green or blue. Maybe gray. I'd also get a nice pair of shoes with a half high heel, a belt, and a nice lacy undershirt.   You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable).   The end of this month I'm going to Scarefest, the big horror and paranormal con in Kentucky. (www.scarefest.com) If I were your witch, is there anything you would like from there (skull jewelry, art prints from an artist that catch your eye, etc), or anyone whose autograph or photo or such you would dig?   What is your holy grail "I'd kill to just have one drop in an imp" bpal scent? Also, does your state allow alcohol to be shipped through the mail? I do and it sounds good! Not sure about state laws though. I love candies and such, but I'd definitely prefer smaller portions of some kind since I am on a slight diet. Somewhere along the way I learned the bad habit of stuffing my face with anything and everything.   If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? Hmmmmm, arm warmers or fingerless gloves would be awesome! A cowl sounds nice as well. I've never had one of those.   Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? The only other person in my house is my SO and I think he'd be fine not getting anything of his own. What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) Yes please! I love the idea of bento boxes and have thought about buying them for so long now. Love kitchen utensils! Could definitely use some more tsp/tbsp measuring cups. The garbage disposal accidentally ate a few of them and I haven't managed to replace them yet. Spice mixes are awesome! I LOVE Penzeys. Oh, and their hot cocoa mix is pretty awesome too!   What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. The neatest? Hmmmmm... The most useful one came from lioness during the Spring Cleaning Swap. An awesome french press coffee maker that I have used pretty much every day since I received it! I just love the consideration/generosity of the peoples here on this forum. So awesome!!

I get it from my dad! For example, I was reading a children's story to these five year old girls. There was this one part where the little boy's sister took his class pet lizard (salamander?) of some kind and accidentally drops it down the garbage disposal. She goes to turn on the light to fish it out and..... Yeah, she turns on the garbage disposal. The book actually wrote out the whirring sound of the garbage disposal and after reading that I just burst out laughing and could not continue the story. It was just hilarious in a "I can't believe this is in a children's book" way. I also think this is hilarious.   Do you like reusable grocery bags? Spring Switch Witch Questions!

If someone were attending Disney on Ice (Toy Story 3) with a bunch of Girl Scouts, would you want a patch/souvenir? Hmmm, I haven't seen Toy Story 3 yet, but I am in to the princess movie side of Disney more than Toy Story... My friends and I each had a princess of our own and mine was Jasmine!   Would you rather have HUGE list of things your witchee wants to try or just a highlight list? Either! Anything I would want to do would definitely last more than 24 hours.... Maybe.... You know, I think I would take a nice nap and relax during the day. At night I would want to go out to a nice dinner. Somewhere yummy. Then to some sort of dance club to learn some steps! Sounds like fun!   Do you enjoy gardening? If so, what kind of stuff do you grow? I do, but I have discovered without my mom around that I have a black thumb. I really do kill every plant I have had! I don't really own much steampunk inspired stuff, but I would love to start making steampunk jewelry in the future!   Amigurumi? (the little Japanese stuffies) I think they are adorable!   Pirates vs Ninjas vs Zombies - who wins? Which do you love most? I feel bad saying it, but zombies just creep me out. I am definitely a pirate person with a little ninja thrown in!   Piercings? - ears?? - elsewhere? Just one piercing in each ear! They are really sensitive though and get easily infected which is why I don't like to change earrings often.   Do you like wearing things in your hair? If so, what kind (snap clips, scrunchie, headband, etc), how big & crazy (lowkey, bigger the better), and colors. I love henna! It doesn't really show up much in my hair since it is pretty much black, though I have been arguing that it is dark brown for years. I mostly wear a ponytail every day since I work in a clean room and have to wear a hairnet every single day.   Chocolate. With stuff in it? Caramel cadbury eggs, reeses, and that chocolate with ginger bits in it are my weakness! Oh, and Toblerone! Don't really like chocolate with nuts though.   For those who like lipgloss, lipstick, tinted balms, etc, what colors do you wear (and warm? cool?) and do you prefer something sheer or more opaque? How do you feel about shimmer? I love lip balms that double as lipstick (burt's bees). Lipstick doesn't tend to last too long on me, so I find that tinted lip balm is the way to go! Though I have been seeing some matte lipsticks that intrigue me.   What's your favorite animal? Or is there one that's particularly significant to you? That's hard to say since I have so many! Notes

Just some notes on B&B stuffs that are awesome, and some that just didn't work.   Tried CocoaPink's Princess Poo and Shine Sweetie: As much as I hate to admit it, this is the best shampoo and conditioner I have ever used. It makes my hair extraordinarily soft without being greasy. Also, it didn't weigh my hair down one bit! The Vanilla Bean Noel reminds me of the Vanilla Betty Crocker cake frosting. Not too bad! Overall..... This product rules! Their So Broke Sugar Scrub is the best thing for my legs to keep away ingrown hairs and all other types of bad things. At first I wasn't liking the scent (Cactus and Honey), but it has grown on me. The scrub is sufficiently scrubby and foams slightly. The only drawbacks to Cocoapink are their spotty customer service, horrible TAT, and many of their scents fall into the "OMG I got ultra sweet sugar up my nose!"   Okay, in response to the Cocoapink review above, I took Andra's suggestion to heart and tried the Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo and Conditioner. It is wonderful and leaves my hair softer yet fluffy than Cocoapink's products. The only drawback is that they only have one scent (though I believe they also carry a lavender shampoo/conditioner?). However, this is the first shampoo and conditioner that leaves my hair so nice, that I don't feel the need to blow dry my hair all the time anymore. This product is wonderful, and I hope it is never discontinued. Also, it is incredibly cheap! Less than $4 for a 16 oz. bottle each.   So, now I am trying out the Aubrey Organic shampoo and conditioner. I started out with the Primrose and Lavender Shampoo and the GPB Conditioner since the new winter environment of Wisconsin has been making my scalp peel more than normal. So itchy too! I have used their shampoo and conditioner three times now and have to comment that when they say you need to shake the product in the bottle every time before use, they mean it. I forgot once, and the shampoo was so liquidy, that it did not do my hair any favors. These products are nice, but my bleached hair tips are extremely dry and brittle after use, which I have never really encountered before using any other product. Might be the new climate or something else. I love the smell of the shampoo. It reminds me of something, but I have no idea what. This shampoo and conditioner combo does not make my hair quite as soft as the Trader Joe's shampoo and conditioner, but it is still a nice change.   Need to try Chagrin Valley again. Their Grapeseed Shea Soap worked wonders on my skin! So soft and slightly scented. Wonderful! Tried the Neem and Tea Tree soap and found that it was way too drying for my skin. Not getting that one again. The Shea Rose Clay soap was also very pleasant. Still need to try: Castile & Calendula Baby Soap, Chamomile & Calendula Soap, Chocolate Orange Twist Soap, Cornmeal & Honey Scrubby Soap, Honey Beer Soap (sounds incredibly interesting!), Honey Butter Soap, Orange Creamsicle Soap, Primrose Complexion Soap, and the Rhassoul Clay & Yogurt Complexion Soap.   As for Mad City Sue, I am in love with her Amber Embrace shower parfait. Excellent smell, and works great with a loofa. I also adore her soaps! Have only tried the Honey I Washed the Kids so far (pretty!!) and I have a Violet soap waiting to be used still. Very soft and pleasant on the skin. I am afraid that her sugar scrubs weren't really my kind of thing, but overall I adore Mad City Sue! Her Customer Service is excellent! Oh, I can't believe that I didn't mention her Shea Whip Body Butter from the beginning! It is the best thing for dry winter skin. As soon as you scoop some of this lotion out of the jar and put it on your skin, it melts into a moisturizing oil that sinks into the skin quickly and moisturizes really well. The texture in the jar doesn't remind me of whip or normal lotiony body butters, it is quite a bit harder at first, but it softens up quickly with a bit of body heat. So heavenly! Need to have a stash of this every winter.   Moonalisa   Gudoya Too   Crater Lake Company I tried their All Tressed Up and Moisture Whip Conditioner. Sadly, their products really weighed my hair down and made it greasy even though I was careful in making sure that I washed out all of the product. I like to blow dry my hair after a shower, but even after using their products for a few weeks, the blow dryer wouldn't do anything. There was not a single bit of volume to my hair. Also, it made my skin break out along the sides of my face. I would consider trying out something other than those two hair products though. Their scent list is amazing, and there are other types of shampoos/conditioners.   I am seriously loving the face stuff by Woobie Bath. I got their Fluffy Facial Cleanser, Botanical Facial Lotion, and Night Time Botanical Facial Lotion. Within the next few days I will know whether or not it is the official cure for the stubborn, horrible acne that I have suffered from for nine years now. If it does end up being my miracle cure, now I will just need to find something to repair all the scars.... Yay for hope! -Update- It definitely worked wonders!! Even when I was supposed to get my horrible "that time of the month" acne, I only had two tiny little breakouts! Of course, the minute my skin started to clear up, I stopped washing my face religiously and the breakouts were back. So, this means I have to use the stuff twice a day, or else!!   Just tried Haunt soap for the first time! I have a few bars still to try, but I decided on the Milk and Nectar first. I love the texture of the soap. Nice lather and my skin loves it! The only thing I didn't like so much about this bar in particular was the scent. It smelled like those sweet tarts candy. Not really my thing. I have the Empire soap in my shower now. It is nice as well. This one's lather is a brown color, which was slightly disconcerting at first. Was sick the first time I used it, so I have no idea how it smells. Very good! The only drawback to the Empire soap was that it stained parts of the tub brown. Be sure to wash the tub out well when using this one.   I got a few Villainess soaps for a friend, and one just happened to fall in the cart for myself.... Jai Mahal is AMAZING!! I love the soft spicyness and the soap itself is nice and cleansing/moisturizing! Jai Mahal is one of my new fav's and the boy loves it as well! I also loooove the smell of Villainess' Embargo! I also got a Villainess scented soap, but I am not sure about it. It is REALLY heavy on the leather. I'm not sure if it is one of my favorites, but I do like it in a way.   BoondockG   Okay, so the next soap on my list to try is from the Beer Soap Company. I ordered from their etsy store since there were more scent choices there, but I would suggest using the Soap Box Co. instead. It took forever for the package to arrive to me.... Anyways, on to the soap reviews. I got my boy the Wood Cashmere one. It is a nice, sweet, woodsy scent. Very pleasant. I have yet to use it in the shower though.   I have been using the facial serums from Dress Green on Etsy for a month now and have seen some amazing improvements in my skin. I had to stop using the Woobie bath facial cleanser because I started getting horrible cystic acne that was not effected by it. Anyways, I have been using Dress Green's Smoothing and Reparative Serum as both facial cleanser and moisturizer in one. It is amazing! Ever since moving to WI from CA, my face has been dryer than normal to the point of intense flakiness. Dress Green's facial serums got rid of the flakiness over night and I have only had two small breakouts since starting up with it. Also, it smells wonderful! I am definitely going to be a repeat customer!   I tried the Timeless Shampoo and Conditioners from Heaven and Earth Essentials but sadly together they weren't for me. The shampoo itself seemed to coat my hair with something and after using the conditioner, my hair was just weighed down and kind of greasy. Really weird. I did like their bar shampoo though! Substituting the timeless shampoo with the bar shampoo made things nice and soft!
