Art Swap Questions

What is your favorite fairy tale, persona, or motif? What imagery does the story/person/thing evoke for you? Do you like or hate how it was handled by a movie or show? How about illustrations and pictures on the subject? Any you are particularly in love with?   I think I answered this at length in the thread.   How are you with ethically sourced (read: found in the woods on the ground, on the beach, etc.) formerly living bits? Examples: feathers, butterfly wings, fossilized teeth/bone, clean-but-not fossilized bone.   Go for it!   Would you rather have half of something that was super fabulous in conception, but ultimately too much to pull off completely in the time frame(although still fully functional?   Yes. Do what you want and then send it my way.   Is there something specifically in fairytales you do NOT want to see?   Really, really graphic violence and incest.   And would you be limited to the idea of 'fairytales' or would you be happy with crossing over into 'origin stories' or 'mythology'?   DO IT.   If you've mentioned that purple is a favorite color, which shades do you prefer?   Jewel tones -- so vivid but darkish.   If in your questionnaire you talked about different styles or listed a number of favorite stories, now that we've been talking about the subject, has anything sort of popped into your head as a "you know I REALLY wish my artist would do something with X story/theme/subject/style." ?   I do like Art Deco and Art Nouveau, but I would also really like whatever style you are most comfortable with. I'd rather have a piece you are comfortable and confident making than something you bent over backwards to make in a style I like, but weren't as comfortable in. I'd like to see your expertise.   How do you feeel about nudity?   I'm not opposed.   How do you feel about more practical crafty kinds of things, rather than more traditional "art"? Like would you be ok with a decorated box or bag, or something like that?   I would love it.   Would you like a retold fairy tale (in poem or story form) written by your artist as part of your swap?   Sure!   How do you feel about receiving a recipe of some sort based off your faerie tale of choice?   Yessssss.   Or say a meal plan you could do for a day or like a dinner party or something?   Okay, yes, this would be fun.   How do you feel about anime in general?   I'm down with it.   What kind of bodyshapes appeal to you in pin up art, male and female?   Curvy, but realistic lady shapes.   How do you feel about excerpts in your art? Are words okay, or would you rather leave language to the imagination?   You do what you want.   What is your favorite grimms tale?   This is haaaaaaaard. Seriously, I don't even know.   New As of 10 Feb: Would you mind getting extra non fairytale goodies along with the required item? Like teas, bacon caramels, soap?   Sure!   Would you enjoy a wearable item? something hand knit by chance?   I'd love it. The asker of this question sent me a pair of wrist warmers last year and I wear them ALL THE TIME. She's a fantastic knitter.   New As of 11 Feb: What kinds of things do you like to eat?   All kinds of things. We're serious foodies. Oh, except not mushroom-truffles. Those kind of taste like feet to me. No matter how I have 'em, then end up just being gross. And I love mushrooms. But bllerrrrgh.   If you were my patron, is there are particular animal (or animals, or animal tale) from a faerie tale/myth/modern tale/legend that you love or emphasize with?   No.   New As of 12 Feb:   Do you have a particular house color palette? I think I already said this -- we have a very nice neutral light taupe wall color. Winter Holiday Fun Swap

November 9th   Sooo. Yules. Those just happened. What are you interested in, Bunny?   I ordered three decants and to be honest, I'm not even that interested in them. I mean, enough to order them, but I would be shocked to find any bottle-wants. I am super excited about the trading post, though, and will be stalking oh, most of the Yule Candles. Okay, all but one of them.   Do you like coin purses?   No. I. Just. No. It's. No.   November 8th   Do you prefer dark or milk chocolate?   Depends on what's in it. Good milk chocolate is delightful, but Hersheys, for example, tastes like vomit to me. Dark chocolate is often a safer bet because I almost always like it except for cheap European dark chocolate which is oddly sweet half the time.     November 7th   What are your opinions on traditional holiday cookie flavorings? I'm thinking anise and cardamom in particular.   Nom.   Do you like artisan oils and vinegars?   Nom.   Bunny, could you use a 2012 calendar, and, if so, do you like big monthly ones or the page-a-day type?   My mum always gets me a calendar.   November 6th   Charity gifts? Either fair-trade type stuff, or virtual type gifts, like vaccinations or school supplies being bought on your behalf, or something along those lines?   No. We're actually really picky about the charities we support.   Bunny, are you interested in tarts from Two Timing Tart? What scents, if any, are you interested in?   No.   Do you need any holiday recipies? Is there something in particular that you'd like baked or made for you? And for those of you doing the no sugar/low sugar, etc. thing these days, how about savory things?   I would love some recipes!   Speaking about candles, how much do you look forward to the BPTP candles that will be launched on Etsy? I don't know if there will be other scents than the Samhain and Pumpkin Cookie one, but is there a specific one you are longing for?   OMG. OMG. OMG. But those will probably be up about the time the swap ends, so do not worry about them. <3   Does anyone have issues with gently used things like books, etc.?   No.   Are you a big ol' nerd for any particular subject? Science, math, linguistics, etc? Or particular authors/fandoms?   Yes. We do like the science, I love fairy tales, crafting. We cook a lot with science. You can read my blogue, craftilykimberly.com, so get an idea of my crafty things, but I don't post as often as I should and I'm working on that. I'm doing NaNoBlogMo instead of NaNoWriMo because I know I can succeed at that.   Bunnies, how do you feel about lemon-flavored items, like lemon marmalade, lemon curd, lemon pound cake, or lemon cookies?   Yes.   fingerless mittens or full mitts?   Fingerless with a mitten flap.     November 4th   reveal, yes or no?   No. I really think the mystery is the most important thing in any swap and wish to be secretized forever. Ever knowing who my fox is would just ruin my life.   (And for future stalkers out there, I am just harassing my foxy who accidentally revealed a bit prematurely. I cannot STAND the mystery and if you don't reveal, I will make a list and cross names off and geo-locate everyone based on anything they've ever said on the forum and correlate "just sent" messages to postage stamps and figure out who you are.)   Any favorite cuddly characters? Not particularly, but I am learning to see the way of Tony and Steve being adorbs.   Moxie Nouveau groupon? I would use it if it happened, but I would not go out of my way for it.   what's your favourite colour? Jewel and earth tones   Your favourite gemstone? Garnets. My engagement ring is a green one (tsavorite) and my right hand ring is three red ones. They are the only stones I wear every day. (Our ginger cat, Willow, who also goes by the bolifur)   And do you have any intense phobias? Since you can't make me stand six feet off the ground, none that you care about. I would be excited if you sent it and not disappointed if you didn't and this is my overall opinion on things for swaps for the most part. It's not that I'm totally ambivalent so much as I like surprises and I like almost everything.   Are you a Trader Joe's fan, who either doesn't have a store nearby or just loves their stuff and has a wishlist?   This is our regular store, so...   The Paintbox Soapworks Yules are up, or at least round one is (updates coming throughout the week). October 14th   Do you like scary books? What's the best/scariest thing you've ever read?   Not really, no.   October 13th   Are you interested in anything in the latest round of Lab auctions on eBay?   Nothing reasonable, that's for frickin' sure.   What favorite song(s) would you think would translate into a cool or unique scent?   California Dreamin' by the Mamas and the Papas (brown leaves, the heavy scent of rain, a little church incense and dust, and under all of it something warm and clean/comforting).   Anyone interested in VApothecary's Halloween update?   Nope.   Interested in anything from the Beaver Moon Lunacy update?   Nope.   I sent you with $20 into a drugstore/Walmart (nothing too fancy/imported/expensive, just your average selection), and you are restricted only to the candy aisle. What would you blow it on?   Andes mints. 13 packages of them, apparently.   October 11th   What is your favorite kind of cookie?   Triple chocolate. My fiance makes them sometimes. I call them orgasm cookies.   How many boxes are you hoping for?   However many you send me.   How do you feel about loose leaf tea in baggies? I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out?   I do like tea.   How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price. The first time I had Daniel (my fiance)'s roast chicken with the potatoes that sit under the chicken as it roasts and get covered in chicken fat. SO AMAZING. SO TERRIBLE FOR YOU.   October 6th   Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like?   I like black licorice. I had no idea it came in so many choices.   Mac using witchees, what computers do you use? What peripherals/accessories do you have and what would you LIKE to have? What do you use your computer for?   I have a mac that I use for stuff at home. If I ended up with accessories, that would be cool. But I'm a bit "eh" about it -- like, at some point I'll probably get a mouse but ....   Do you like listening to audiobooks? Would you like to receive one, and if you would, what sort of audiobook would you like--or is there a particular audiobook you've been meaning to get?   I do like them, I really liked John Hodgeman's More Information Than You Require and the sequel. Not that I know of...     March 16   For those who like lipgloss, lipstick, tinted balms, etc, what colors do you wear (and warm? cool?) and do you prefer something sheer or more opaque? How do you feel about shimmer?   Something lightly tinted, I think. Shimmer is great. I'm not a huge fan of lipgloss/lipstick/tinted balms, but just got in to making my own, so I am perfecting my recipe. If you have a recipe here, I'd love to try it since mine are still coming out harder than I'd like.   Are there any fancy/gourmet/special herbs or spices that you'd love to receive? ie: good quality vanilla or other extracts, vanilla beans, saffron, lavender, etc.   Well. If you want to send me a vanilla bean, I certainly wouldn't say no. I actually already have most extracts, saffron, lavender, what-have-you that I want and a revolving supply of vanilla beans. So at the end of the last round, I actually woke up one day, called the salon, and chopped all my hair off. It's shoulder length now. 9/21/10 Do you like garlic? Do you REALLY like garlic? Would you want to try some really unusual garlic stuff, like garlic cheese or garlic fudge or garlic chocolate, etc., etc., etc.? NO. THE MEMORIES. THE HORROR. When I was in sixth grade we went to a garlic festival at an otherwise lovely dining establishment. Everything was over-garlicky, but my sister and I are all, "Well, at least there is dessert and that will be nom and not garlic." Vanilla ice cream with garlic honey sauce. First of all, it's the most disgusting thing I've ever eaten. Second of all, I'm kind of scarred for life when it comes to "garlic" and "unusual".   Can I talk to you about the living dead? How do you feel about Zombies? Generally, they are hilarious. I loved Zombieland after the first 15 minutes of too violent/gross for me. I'm such a girl that way. However the things like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? I ADORE them in concept. In execution, the author is so pitifully below Jane Austen's writing style and level that I can't actually stand to read them.   9/20/10 If you happened to be my Witchee, is there something you'd like from the Arcana Halloween update? I know you aren't asking me this, so I just take the chance to say <3 you!   How many bottles of BPAL do you have? Really? Really? Crap. 61. Many of which were acquired as (low level) partials and one of which makes me so sad, I actually don't like looking at it anymore (ask me about the FULL bottle of Snow Glass Apples that I spilled everywhere five seconds after getting it)   About 20 of them probably need to be sold or swapped off at this point. No kids. No problems.   In the knitted/crocheted things area, would you want wrist warmers, 1/2 gloves, a neck warmer(the kind that pretty much just goes around your neck and maybe fastens instead of being long and loose like a scarf), slippers, or hats? Okay, seriously, a hooded shawl. But if not that, then gloves are divine. Especially if you leave the fingers off. I have a smart phone, so I like to muck about with it even in winter.   How do you feel about altered/recycled/upcycled items of clothing or accessories?
