Today in my garden

Get a whiff of this -- just picked garden roses, lilies, lavender, and fennel fronds. It rained last night, so there is a wet note too.

Can You Bottle This?

Poking around BPAL and learning about the evocative scents Beth produces has led me to start thinking about the smells in my own life I wish I could bottle and pull out when I need a hit, or to preserve fleeting scents for posterity. Here are the two I've thought about so far:   My Garden -- tomato leaf, lavender, tarragon, warm soil, water, roses, peonies, hydrangea, with a waft of dry grass and oak leaf on the breeze   Jasper -- warm light skin musk, clean laundry, milk, a dusting of baby powder. The elusive smell of a baby's head.

Read This, Lovely Switch Witch!

Started some wishlists: JetPens: http://www.jetpens.com/wishlist?wish_list_id=a6b6acb29df3ffab   UPDATE: Just wanted to list some items I'm especially wanting right now: 5 ml. of Hermia and Lady Una. Testers of Liz, High-Strung Daisies, Detestable Putrescence, Victoria, Defututa, Gingerbread Poppet, Gluttony, Cake Smash, Halloween: Las Vegas.   Also very interested in Villainess Smack and Smooch -- Bourbon Vanilla especially, but other combos with my favorite notes too   New obsession: Chimera   Social media: I am gateau on Twitter, also TasteTheDay, but that's for more limited use. Just opened a Livejournal account under gateauesq but nothing there yet.   Most Wanted Weenies: I've joined decant circles for Autumn Cider, Pumpkin Latte, Pumpkin Princess, Samhain, Sonnet d'Automne, and Silver, Golden, and Glittering Apples. Am also interested in Elegy IX, Mictecuithuatl (definitely misspelled), The Changeling, An Incubus Leaving..., The Gorobble, The Ta-Ta, and The Two-Tailed Sogg. Debating about Blood Moon as we speak.   Nail Polish: yes, yes, oh my god yes. I love nail polish, from high end down to cool glitters you find for a dollar. I wear a lot of OPI, Essie, Sally Hansen, and Zoya, and especially love earth-tone metallics, duochromes, and winey colors. Anything shimmery and sparkly gets my love, even though I'm too old to wear it, really. Illamasqua Bacterium and Viridian are on my wishlist.   Quote: "In life I know there is lots of grief. But your love is my relief." has always spoken to me of the power of love. I sing it to my kids a lot.   Dream Candle: I don't use scented candles as much as I used to, but I had a candle I loved once that was some kind of soft tree bark, not piney or sassafras sharp, but mellow and woodsy. I also love spice scents for candles.   Knitted Gifts: YES PLEASE! I am a knitter myself, so I really hope there is a general consensus that knitted gifts rock. I would love a new winter hat, gloves or mittens, or fingerless gloves. I have a brown coat and a black coat, so any color, really. I tend to go for rich colors that are not primary-bright -- earthy or jewel.   Would you be interested in homemade edibles that are NOT sweets? Any specifics? This is my question, but I will say yes, definitely. I do love my sweets, but I'm very into savories. Soup mixes, chutneys, seasoned salts or spice blends, pickles, all that good stuff. Do you make cheese or cure your own bacon? HELL TO THE YEAH.   What GC do you live in mortal terror of the lab discontinuing, but never get around to buying? Just discovered how much I like Bengal, so it would suck if I never got to buy it.   Yo, yarnies! Do you Ravelry? If so, who are you over thar? Yes and yes! I am momesq on Ravelry.   Do you have wishlists for non-BPAL e-tailers? And if so, could you provide a link or a list? Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/people/jessicamg/favorites?ref=si_fav I should update Amazon. I'm not good at regularly updating these, so use them as a way to understand my taste more than specific wants.   Witchee, do you use a PC or a Mac? Mac at home, PC at work.   What is your favorite animal? I love animals that rock their iridescence -- dragonflies, butterflies, peacocks, etc. I am also quite fond of ladybugs.   What are you going to be for Halloween? Probably a harassed and aggravated mother of three. But usually I at least try to put on a funny hat or pair of fairy wings and some glitter.   If you could have a piece of oil painting jewelry (pendant, pair of earrings, or ring) with absolutely anything painted on it, what would it be? (If you prefer wall art instead, same question as above.) I have a dragonfly scent locket, but would love a peacock item. I also love woman-in-the-moon themes.   How do you feel about nick-knacks? I really should not add to the clutter in my house, but I do love beautiful objects.   What traditions (family, holiday, or otherwise) are important to you? I am very big on family traditions and personal rituals. We don't do anything terribly esoteric in our family, but I love the way we celebrate birthdays by decorating the person's chair at the breakfast table and giving gifts first thing. Love Christmas stockings, lighting the Hanukkah candles, and pulling Christmas crackers and then wearing the silly hats. Oh, and our "happy birthday to the sun" cake and Yule celebration.   Do you like going to the movies? Oh yes, wish I went more often.   What are your favorite restaurants? I eat out pretty often at places in my town, and I love Japanese, Mexican, and Thai the best. I don't eat in chains much, but I think Olive Garden, Panera, and Cosi are pretty good when I do.   Do you play any video games? I play Wii games, I loved Myst, and I play a lot of online Scrabble.   Do you like any anime? Not my thing.   Do you have an E-reader/iPad/something similar that you need a cover/case for? I have a Kindle 2 that has a silicone sleeve and an iPad 2. The iPad just has that magnetic cover, and I think I might like a case for it that protects it in my bag, but nothing bulky.   how much do you like jewelry? like, if you were to get a shit ton of it during the round, how excited would you be? SO MUCH! I would be beside myself with excitement.   How would you like to receive some of your Witch's favorite recipes, tailored to your likes/dietary restrictions? And specific wants? I'd love that, as I love to cook and try new recipes.   Do you need any boxes to store your smellies in? What would you store in said hypothetical box--imps, bottles, supplies, all of the above? I desperately need BPAL storage, for bottles and imps. I have no decanting supplies, but would love some and a box to keep them in.   Muppets: yea or nay? If anyone is tired of the Muppets she is tired of life. Original viewer of Sesame Street, here.   Do you have an affinity for Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts, The Far Side, and other comic strips? If so, which is your favorite? I enjoy them, but I wouldn't say I'm a huge fan. The Peanuts will always have a place in my heart, because they were a big part of my childhood. I also still crack up at Far Side cartoons.   Favorite Mythological Creature?: I'm pretty fascinated by Medusa, not that I'd exactly call her a favorite. On the more positive side, I have a strong affinity for Lady Moon-type figures.   Do you like hair things barrettes, headbands, flowers I do! But I have very thick curly hair, so anything I wear has to be pretty strong. Like, little bobby pins and thin headbands do nothing and fall right out.   Expanding on the hair question - does anyone like those flower clips for the hair that are big right now?? Pretty!   Do you like to burn incense? If so, what are your favorite kinds...sticks? cones? resins? What are your favorite scents? No, I'm not much of an incense person.   Harry Potter - a fan? If so, what house are you? I've read all the books, but I'm not a big fan. I never really understood the differences between Ravensclaw and Hufflepuff (they always read as afterthoughts to me) but figure I'm not evil enough or cool enough to be Slytherin or Gryffindor so I'd be in one of the others.   If you were to receive a gift card, what places would you like to get one from? Sephora, any major department store, Michael's, Joann Fabrics, Amazon, iTunes Is there a particular myth/folktale/legend/fairytale/godstory that you're drawn to? This isn't exactly that, but I'm very into A Midsummer Night's Dream   If you RP, tabletop, forum, or otherwise... Do you have any original characters you'd like to see art of? If so, please give information! Even if it's a link to a web page or a profile or picture! No, I don't. RP, I mean.   If you could see anything, what would it be? Can be a person, an event, a landmark or monument, an object, etc. And it doesn't have to be on this planet, or in this time period, or in this reality! I would love to take a tour through the great moments in theater history -- 5th Century Athens, the Dionysian rites, Shakespeare's theater company, the riots at L'Apres Midi d'un Faun, opening night of Carrie....   When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? After a good solid cuddle with my kids, I really do like a cocktail or glass of wine.   What are your thoughts on comics? Any you like? Any you have been wanting to try? Favorite characters? I'm not very into comics. There are certain artists, like Allison Bechdel and Art Spiegelman, whose work I really love. Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do? I have had musical training all my life, and many musicians in my family, but nothing ever really took. I'd like to take up guitar again, and progress enough to play an electric guitar. Also, now that we have a piano, I'm thinking of taking lessons again.   Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in? I do garden, in a very ad hoc way. I'm good with tomatoes and herbs, and would like to branch out a bit into more successful vegetables and fruits. My hydrangeas are gorgeous, and I love all kinds of flowering shrubs and bulbs.   Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary? We do decorate, though not lavishly. I'd say it's mostly fun, but with relatively good taste. I don't like the scary killer/monster stuff. I'm more into pumpkins, skulls, bats, cauldrons, etc.   Witchee, do you have any symbols or totems that have special meaning for you? The woman in the moon. I have her tattooed on my back.   Is anyone fond of programs like Adopt a Tree/Highway/Library/Manatee/Acre of Rainforest/etc?: Never done them, but they sound excellent. What #1 actor, director, author and/or musician are you obsessed with? I wouldn't say obsessed. There are many I like and will go on little tears from time to time to catch up with their work. are you interested in anything from the Villainness Bad Apples update? Only just getting into Villainess, and thinking about a first order. Just Right sounds delicious.   If you have a pet, would he/she/they like to receive a treat or a toy as a gift? Does your pet have any dietary restrictions or other preferences w.r.t. said treat? I have two cats. I think they'd love a little something stuffed with catnip. They don't really need gifts, though, as they get to out out and find whatever they want when they want it.   What are your top three "I want to try them but I think I'll never get to try them" (or, "I've tried them and I want moar moar moar, but I don't think I'll ever get any") scents/bath oils/sprays? I have recently realized that dry, non-foodie vanilla is a HG scent for me, along with vanilla orchid. So I'd love to try Antique Lace, get more Celeste, and of course, like everyone in the world, I'd love to try Storyville. Is there a particular artist and piece that you would like a print of? If so, what is your max size that you could spare on your walls? I'd love a print of the Lilith in my avatar! I'm a fan of that entire genre of painting, and I also love Klimt. Sadly don't have a ton of wall space so absolute max is probably 2'x3' framed. If you are in to beauty and makeup related stuff, what kind of stuff do you like? What is your skintone and hair color? Are there any beauty products you've wanted to try but just never purchase? Way, way, way into beauty stuff. I seem to be collecting eyeshadows, not that I generally wear a lot more than neutrals, but I have a thing for iridescent blues, greens, and purples, and neutrals with any of those as duochromes (like MAC Club). Always open to fun and interesting stuff from indie companies. On the commercial side, I'd love a UD 24/7 liner in Zero, NARS eyeshadow in Dogon, Armani Eyes to Kill in khaki or plum, MAC Jealousy Wakes, Dark Envy, Bare Study, or the new color Paint Pots. I think I don't love most lipgloss (though I just got a Gloss d'Armani in Plum that I love, and would love another of the deep colors) and tend to prefer sheer/satin/velvet lipsticks. I'm a natural redhead with medium-fair skin, MAC NW 20-25. Oh, and sort of getting into blushes and highlighters lately. Do you like coffee or tea? Would you be interested in trying some different types? I LUUUUV coffee and tea. I don't care much for flavored coffees, and adore rich, caramelly strong blends and espresso. Black tea is my favorite, though I also love Moroccan mint tea. I prefer loose tea to tea bags. Open to flavored teas.   Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc) I think I prefer CDs, because then both my husband and I can add them to our iTunes accounts easily, though I also am happy to get in MP3 format. Stuff I keep meaning to buy and never get around to: Adele, Raul Malo, Josh Ritter Are you going away for any part of this round? No, but I wish I were. Might take a quick trip to Washington, DC.   Would you like to receive a mix-CD from your Witch? I'd love that! I'm always open to learning about music I don't know.   If your witch were going somewhere on a vacation during the round, would you want a little souvenir? I adore travel souvenirs! Postcards, snow globes, key chains, that sort of stuff.   Do you enjoy any outdoor activities? Do you have a favorite form of "exercise"? I really enjoy walking, especially if a picnic can be expected at some point! Being outdoors is wonderful, but I truly hate exercise for exercise's sake. Occasionally I might ride a bike somewhere. Other exercise I like is indoor (not that, you perv!) like yoga or Pilates. Any witchee's with a ravelry account have any favourited patterns that cost money that would be a welcome gift? I will be updating that list, because I do love patterns. Do you work/study at a desk and enjoy interesting or cute office supplies? I do! Anything from Muji is great, and I love odd post-it notes, pretty paperclips, fun pencils and pens, highlighters, Sharpies.   Witchee, are you a fan of musicals? If so, which ones? My first experience in a musical (South Pacific) in camp led me to pursue a theater career. So yes, I love musicals. Soft spot for Rodgers & Hammerstein, but my taste is more in the Kander & Ebb world these days, plus I'm a Hedwig and the Angry Inch fanatic. Rocky Horror, too.   I am fond of the thrift. Do you mind lightly used goods? Please be specific! For instance, I'm a little squicked by used clothing, but I don't mind any other used goods (i.e. books, glassware, games, DVDs, whatever.) I am pro-lightly used goods, but I do have a fear of the bedbug. So books, art, glasswear, music, games, jewelry are all OK. Pillows, fabric, clothing, shoes, not so much.   Do you have an Etsy shop? Do you know of any Etsy shops that are Switch Witch friendly? Only in my dreams!   Would a gift or a postcard from Disneyland make you squee with delight or puke into your mail box? Really depends on the gift. I sort of loathe Mickey Mouse and friends, but the Alice/Cinderella/Peter Pan/Pirates/Haunted Mansion/Small World stuff is great.   what are your favorite types of Halloween candy? Anything caramel, anything gummy, anything sour. I also like Fireballs, candy corn, hard candy.   Do you prefer soap or shower gel? Please give examples of your favorite scents or brands. I prefer soap. I like pink grapefruit, mint, other citrus, lavender, and oatmeal, especially with something scrubby in the soap.   How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel? LOVE caramel, especially salted caramel. I'm good with nuts and peanut butter, but really don't like mint. Toffee is good. So is spice. I enjoy dark chocolate, but I'd choose good milk chocolate over the super high cocoa content stuff that doesn't melt in your mouth. Mouthfeel is important with chocolate!   Beads! Do you use them? Would you want some? What sorts of beads do you like? I'm not a very good beader, but I enjoy it. Anything sparkly, antiqued, or iridescent is my favorite. What I'd adore is a little homemade kit of a beading project with all the stuff you need (other than tools) to put it together.   Anyone here like caramels? Sea salted caramels?!?! ALL YOUR SALTED CARAMELS ARE BELONG TO US!!!!!! Uh, yeah.   Would you like a hand dyed or hand painted scarf or wrap or other item? If so, what colors/designs/fabrics do you like? I'd love that! I especially like jewel tones and earth tones combined, and I love black.   This was a question before, but does anyone here like stones? Just pretty polished stones for use in whatever purposes? I do! And my kids are fascinated by them.   And another question; anyone like anything in particular from Think Geek? I enjoy their desk accessories. Not so much the novelty items.   Pinterest, do you have boards you want to share or are you following anyone with great boards you want to share? Not on Pinterest (yet)   Would you like to receive e-books? And if so, in what format? Love them! I have Kindle and iPad.   If you have kids, would you be interested in getting things for them? And if so, what are they interested and what sizes are the wearing now? I have three boys, but they always get the presents! I want the presents! Well, maybe a little something, like a knitted monster or a funny t-shirt. My oldest (age 9) loves BPAL and already has his own bottle of Embalming Fluid and imp of Antikythera Mechanism. He also loves rocks and gems. The middle one, age 5, loves foodie scents like Anne Beany. The baby is 9 months and just ends up wearing what I'm wearing.   Would you be interested in a felted handbag? Do any of these styles appeal to you? http://tinyurl.com/3o2epzl (there's at least one guy-friendly style, too!) I love felted handbags, and was particularly taken with the one with bamboo handles. I like the structure and the embellishment.   Are there are patterns, motifs, etc that you especially like? I like: paisley, Missoni-like waves, Klimt-like patterns (recently needlepointed a pillow with those designs). I like things that combine multiple patterns, a sort of bohemian eclectic hodgepodge. Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of?   If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc? Black tea, flavored OK as long as it's natural kind of flavors (fruits can be either great or iffy, depending on how artificial). I drink loose tea, but compressed is kind of neat. One of my favorite teas is Baker Street Afternoon Blend from Upton Tea Co., which I mention just as inspiration, not because I am angling for more of it. It's got a touch of Lapsang Souchong. I also like quality Earl Grey.   How would you feel about kitchen towels and other similar household objects, if they are pretty or a souvenir? I like them. If they're cute and practical, they're a great gift.   How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion? Not too many formal dress parties in my life lately, but we have a dinner party group that gets together regularly. Last time we did Greek cuisine, so I went with Aegean Disco -- drapey black dress, too much gold eyeshadow, and a lot of black eyeliner, with my already big curly hair even bigger and curlier.   Do you enjoy puzzles/riddles? (Cryptograms, Sudoku, Crossword, Jigsaw, etc) Do. Not. Get. the appeal of Sudoku. I love the New York Times crossword puzzle, but even more love doing the Acrostic. And there is something really enjoyable to me about doing jigsaw puzzles. I generally like putting lots of pieces together, which is why I am the household's designated putter-together of Playmobil toys.   Witchee, would you be interested in having a special tea cup/coffee mug/glass to drink out of? I am pretty well covered with mugs, though I could use the type of travel mug or cold drink glass that looks like a take-out cup with lid but is made of plastic/ceramic/silicone.   Can you sum yourself (whether it be personality, life's goals, ethics, whatever) in 10 words or less? Ack, I'm always bad at that sort of thing. I am wordy, how's that?   How about little bottles of booze? Ya wanna? What kind? I would never say no to booze! Especially fun to try flavored vodkas or cordials that you can use to make interesting new cocktails.   What are your views on fudge and brownies? (Also, if you live in a warm place, where the fudge might melt, that'd be helpful to know. Or, if you're diabetic and fudge is death, that'd be useful to know, too.) Not a huge fudge fan, as I find it overly sweet and kind of grainy. I do adore brownies, though, the chewier the better. I need to get one of those zigzag pans that allow each piece to have an edge -- the best part.   Also, what about mochi? Love it, hate it, baffled by it? I find the idea often better than the execution.   Anything from the update ya'll are liking? BPTP UPDATE Sugar Skull soap, fig/sandalwood hair oil.   Does anyone like kimchi? I love anything hot, pickled, or sour, so yes.   Would you be interested in a sample box(from somewhere like Birchbox or loosebutton)? I just terminated my Birchbox subscription because I was getting a lot of indifferent stuff that didn't seem worth it. I'd love a custom-made sample box by my Witch, though!   You have to place a Lab and Trading Post order. Right fuckin' now. No spending limits. What do you buy? That is evil! OK, right now I want Sachs, Dorian, Mr. Quibit and Tree of Life for my husband, Pallas Athene, Mouse's Long and Sad Tale, all four of the new Weenie soaps, several hair oils, and probably a bunch of Salons. Oh, and I'd try Blood Moon.   Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update? New to me, and now I'm hungrily looking through the offerings. I would say I'd love to try, and would pick things on my good notes list, like peony, vanilla, apricot, peach, orchid, light musk, and so on. Cicada, Silken Peony and Indian Summer sound DEEEVINE.   Do you guys have any sports that you follow obsessively? How about favorite teams and/or athletes Not a sports fan, though I don't mind tagging along with others who are.   How do you feel about notebooks/journals/stationery? Anything you need or particularly like? I'm a bit of a hoarder of notebooks, Clair Fontaine being my favorites because they're so nice to write on with a fountain pen. I always use fountain pens, so smooth, heavy paper is a must.   Does confetti/glitter make you angry or fill you with glee? Unadulterated glee.   Fabulous witches and witchees, perhaps you all could note of you've received MeiLin's goodies? Or if you want? Have not   How do you feel about stuffed animals/plushies/general soft, cuddly things? If you like them, what kind of animals would you be interested in? Not a big user of these myself. I do like soft pillows, though.   how interested would you be on somewhat personalized bottle cap labels? Like these that I did?   When you're miserably sick (*sniffle, cough!*) what are the things that comfort you the most? Staying in bed and having someone bring me everything I might need, including soup and tea. There is nothing worse than having to get up to take care of myself and others when I feel sick.   What constitutes ultimate luxury to you? (go crazy!) TIME. Oh, just to have oodles of time to putter around and be self-indulgent. Travel. Really good hotel rooms with supersoft bedding and giant baths, with breakfast on the terrace. To be able to afford to buy any book that strikes my fancy, in hardcover, without giving a single thought to price or having to find enough room on the bookshelves. One of those giant libraries in old mansion houses would be my ultimate dream.   What do you really NOT want? Soap that smells like play-doh. Incense. Marshmallows.   interested in anything from Lush? Not a giant Lush fan, but I've always wanted to try the Jasmine-Henna Fluff Eaze hair cream.   Do you blog? Would you like a header for your blog, a layout, etc? I do blog, but this isn't a high priority.   Would you be interested in a handmade bookmark? I hardly ever use more than a piece of scrap paper as a bookmark.   do you like chex puppy chow or muddie buddies (ingredients: semi-sweet chocolate chips, PB, vanilla extract, powdered sugar, chex cereal)? would you want to get some from your witch / nacho witch? Sounds yum, but not very Weight-Watchers-friendly!   How would you feel about receiving a Groupon deal for something in your local area? If there is anything you WOULDN'T like, mention that also. I don't really use Groupon much. It would depend.   do you like real sugar skulls? Things with sugar skull designs? Sure!   Who here adores meringue? It's OK, not my top favorite.   Are you more prone to order out or cook at home? Would you be interested in cookbooks, kitchen utensils, and the like? If so, anything specific? I do both, so I'm always up for cooking items. I do have most of what I need, though. I could use new potholders, as boring as that sounds.   New question: How do you feel about maple syrup? Love the extra dark stuff. Not a big fan of maple-flavored things otherwise.   How do people feel about little pocket shrines, maybe something inspirational/motivational to keep in their purses/backpacks/whatever? (Like these: http://www.art-shrin...cketshrines.htm) Neat idea!   Do you like Star Wars? Original Trilogy? Prequels? Spin-offs? Favorite characters? Star Wars does nothing for me, ever since I saw the first one when it came out.   Do you like beef jerkey, I know some may be vegatarian, but where I live beef is a staple and beef jerkey abounds. If so do you it really thin, hard and crunchy or thicker and softer. (OK that borders on obscene)- I actually love it, chewy is best. Love it teriyaki style or spicy.   Also do you like or racier ecards from time to time and do you need to be warned if something may be not safe to open at work. I wouldn't mind them, but would need a NSFW warning.   Doctor Who? Yay or nay? (please don't make me cry by saying nay) Sorry! It's a nay.   Anyone love Buffy/Angel? I got really into Buffy at the time, but didn't really sustain the love once it was over. I mean, I don't hate it now, but I don't think of it that often.   How would you feel about gummies? Like, gummy bears? Gummy werewolves? Gummy vampires? Love gummies!   How would you feel about a totally original Gela-skin for your laptop/iPod/phone? Stickers? Decals? Skin would be great, as mine are boring. I have a MacBook, iPhone 4, and iPad 2.   Since this is a Halloween round, what's your Creepy threshold? Are you a cartoon bats and smily pumpkins person or a skulls-and-bones the-dead-are-rising kind of person? Are your fairytales dark or Disney? I like folk art sorts of creepydom, like Day of the Dead skeletons and so on. Not a fan of zombies, vampires, axe murderers, etc.   Are your ears pierced, Witchee? Do you have any other piercings? Would you like to receive any items of jewelry for these piercings? I have pierced ears and love earrings to a crazy degree. I have a navel piercing, but it's been a long time since I've worn anything in it, and probably would need to have jewelry professionally reinserted.   How do you all feel about Whoopie Pies? Whoopie!   Are you looking for a certain kind of DVDs to spruce up your collection right now? I'd love a copy of Singin' in the Rain!   Does anyone like postcards? Is anyone willing to be a Nacho witch for postcards? I love postcards, sending and receiving.   Do you like Star Trek? Original TV series, films, spinoff series, etc? Favorite characters? I'm afraid not. I did date someone who was a regular on one of the spinoffs, and it was embarrassing that I could just not bring myself to watch it, or refrain from teasing him constantly.   Witchee, would you like a framed photograph and of what? I don't have a lot of wall space right now, sadly.   Do you wear t-shirts? Are there particular things you like on them? Would you like one designed by your Witch? And, if you don't mind saying, what size t-shirt do you wear? I wear them on weekends. Current favorite is my Born to Knit shirt, with the crossed needles and skull motif. Would love a specially designed one. Probably size M.   How do you feel about pumpkin scented things? Not perfume related, but soap, candles, etc.... Not a top favorite.   Dear witchee, if you answered 'Mac' to the Mac/PC question previously issued by another participant, please tell me what kind of computer you have, what peripherals you own (like the wireless trackpad, wireless vs/wired keyboard and mouse), and whether you're interested in Apple-related items (stickers, keychains, other things with the logo, etc). Have an aging MacBook. Not that into the Apple items.   SOCK PREFERENCES? Soft! Not a lover of the toe socks. Love designs as long as they're not to stringy inside.   Cthulhu: yay or nay? Not really a fascination of mine.   Is there something that you wish you could do, but you keep putting it off? Take the time to really buckle down and finish my novel based on A Midsummer Night's Dream.   Put your current mp3player (I am the anti-apple, so no ipod ), winamp playlist, what have you, on shuffle, list the first 10 songs: Answered in thread.   Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting In addition to the Weenie decants and samples of Sugar Skull soap and Fig-White Sandalwood hair oil, I just ordered myself a bottle of Sprinklecake. The reviews so far suggest I might really like it, and wanted to make sure I could get a backup if it turns out I love it. Also ordered Tree of Life for my husband for Xmas, though I suspect I'll be dipping into it as well.   Do you have any interest in rocks? Not like, polished colorful stones.. but like... rocks. With geologic significance! My kids do, but I tend to go for the pretty instead of the significant.   If your witch were to knit you a scarf/shawl/cowl, which would you prefer, and what features would you want? Would you prefer something light and drape-y or thick and warm? What kind of colors would you prefer? Do you have any fiber allergies or preferences? I love hand-knit items! If a shawl, light and drapey is great, because I tend to wear them in the office when it's too chilly. I would also love a warm scarf or cowl, not too bulky, to wear with my camel wool coat and brown down coat.   If you have a pet, could you please post a photo of it? I really need to see what your pet, if you have one, looks like. Posted in thread.   Do you like/own/wear/want fairy wings or something of the like? I had a pair that I can no longer find. My days of wearing stuff like that to parties are pretty well over, though it's fun to be able to put them on to entertain my children at their parties or Halloween.   How do you feel about terrariums? They're pretty cool, but I have no place to keep one in my house.   What's your favorite horror movie? Not a horror fan. I like suspense, though, of the Hitchcockian variety.   If your witch was the practical type and wanted to include one or more of your everyday essentials, what would those include? I'm talking about the bath products, lotions, face lotions, teas, food, etc that you really use every day. Posted in thread.   Jane Austen .. Yay or Nay? I never actually read Sense & Sensibility or Pride & Predjudice, but I think I have them on my Kindle.   I put up quotes I love in my office and studio to get me going, They range from goofy to sarcastic to inspirational... Are you interested in a hand painted quote? Do you have one in mind, or a topic in mind? I can't think of anything I'd want to see every day that would be office appropriate!   Do you like period or period-styled paraphernalia? Stuff like postcards, notecards, jewelry, office supplies, what-have-you? LOVE Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Arts & Crafts/Mission. Also certain 60s design that brings a psychedelic touch to Art Nouveau style.   If you like manga, comics, and/or graphic novels, what is it about them that you like, in general? The story, the art/style, etc? I like graphic novels that treat serious subject matter (such as Maus, Fun Home). I think it's the authors' fully realized vision of words and visuals that appeals. Not a comics or manga fan otherwise.   If you could choose a Smack, what would it have in it? Oh man, every one of them sounds delicious. I'm thinking something with Honey Nut, Vanilla Bean, Maybe a touch of Unearthed and Spice Trade. Or Vanilla Bean and Sugared Roses. Georgia Peach and Bluegrass?   if you could have a salon scent made, based on any artwork(s) what would it be? Gustave Courbet's Woman With a Parrot or Picasso's Family of Acrobats with Monkey.   Are you scientifically curious and/or process-oriented? Would you like a project-type gift that allowed you do do something like make soap from scratch, take and (nontoxic-ly) develop photographs using a pinhole camera, use plant dyes on yarn or fabric, etc.? Answered in thread, but in short, yes. Especially soap or cosmetics making.   What's 'your' song/your theme song? Well, for my wedding it was Lyle Lovett's She's No Lady. Ziggy Stardust also gets me kind of juiced up.   What would be your superpower? Being in multiple places at once. Or Samantha's ability to wrinkle her nose and have all the housework done in an instant.   Witchee, would you like a gently used BPAL tshirt? I wouldn't mind, if it was a cute design and in my size.   Do you like homemade snack mixes? I know Puppy Chow was mentioned in a previous question, but what about healthier and more natural type snacks like granola or trail mix? You can put a lot of delicious and fun things into trail mix, yeah? If you say "Sure, I'd love some!" what kinds of things do you like/not like in those kinds of snacks, ie coconut flakes, raisins, certain nuts (allergies??), candy, etc. Give us your list of DO's and DON'Ts! Not a big snack mix person, but I do love almonds, dried fruit, and dark chocolate.   Do you like charm bracelets? If you had a bracelet, what sort of charms would you want on it? Favorite hobbies, symbols, whatever? I have a gold charm bracelet that I adore. I collect gold and gold-toned charms, mostly vintage. Am trying to bring a little more color into it. Some charms I have are: pink shoe, corset, baby carriage, mailbox, red apple, Statue of Liberty, Scales of Justice, heart lockets, beaver. Would love charms for knitting, cooking (esp. egg and bacon in frying pan!), baby shoe, perfume bottle, gumball machine or other candy.   Would you like any ecotools makeup brushes? They're kinda one of my favorite things ever, and they're animal-friendly and the handles are bamboo. And to top it all off, they work really well for applying makeup. I am pretty well set with brushes. Those are good, though! I have a few.   Do you like Legos? Especially mini-fig key chains, Lego block keychains, small Lego sets, etc? Not so much -- my kids have pretty much taken this over. I do need a new keychain, so a Lego one might be a lot of fun.   Since the previous question about "what would you buy from the Lab if you had unlimited funds, etc" left WAY too much to the imagination with no limitations (my answer was pretty much BUY ALL THE THINGS!), what would you do if you found a $50 bill on the ground and a nagging voice in the back of your mind told you that you HAD to spend it on BPAL or else face Death. Also, say they had free shipping (LOL) so don't factor that in. What would you get? And spend it all! Or as close to $50 as you can get. A bottle of Lady Una and a bottle of Josie. Or maybe instead of the Josie, a bottle of Dorian, a couple of imps, and a few wand caps.   Are there any characters that you love or identify with? Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels in Tootsie. Because he's willing to go as far as he has to for love and for his art, and she's strong and smart with a good heart.   A question! If you are crafty, what's your personal art style? I'm not talking just about what art you like to look at, but what kind of art do you like creating? Do you have a "process" while you're creating beauty? Answered in thread.   Are there any Arcana Weenies that you MUST HAVE? Haint. Maybe Reign in Hell and Caffeinated Death.   So what say you? IS an "unexpected" visit/in-person witching OK? Not such a good idea.   What strange misc. items would you love to receive that you just haven't gotten for yourself? Scented fountain pen ink in a non-serious color (I already have J. Herbin rose). Sally Hansen nail polish decals.   How do you feel about franken polish? Are you okay with all chemicals, or would you prefer 3 free? Would you want glitter or holographic glitter? What colors would interest you? Prefer 3 Free. I do enjoy glitter and holographic glitter, very into dark earthy colors with shimmer right now, like chocolate brown, gunmetal, golden olive.   Dear witchee, how do you feel about lip balm? Favorite style (twist up tube, pot, tube with wand, etc.)? Favorite flavors? Flavors to avoid? Favorite brand? Do you need more right now or are you set? Are you one of those people who could never have enough lip balm even though you have a bowl on your dresser overflowing with them and 10 in your purse and an order for more on the way? I need lip balm, but always forget to put it on, or lose them. So no preferred brand. I don't like the very stiff product you often find in tubes, though it's a convenient format if soft enough. Pots can get messy but the texture is good. No eucalyptus, mint, or very fake strawberry. Love honey and foodie flavors.   Would you be interested in getting fountain pen inks or art supplies via JetPens and or DickBlick? (I know I have a wishlist on JetPens and just love using fountain pens in my artwork) YES! YES! See JetPens wishlist at top of blog post.   For those interested in watercolors, how would you feel about getting a palette filled with paint from my watercolor tubes but not getting the paint tube itself? (kind of like this but without the covers for the compartments and bigger http://www.flickr.co.../in/photostream) Not really into watercolor -- I need to do things that can be whipped out or packed up with little fuss.   How do you feel about getting art supplies in general? (copic markers, watercolor, brushes, paint, sketchbooks etc.) Sketchbooks, pencils, markers.   How do you feel about Threadless tshirts? I'm not much of a t-shirt person. If I wear them, I like the design to be very graphic and in one or two colors.   If you were turned loose in a basic drug store (CVS, Walgreens - a pharmacy with attached mini-mart, basically!) with a $20 bill, what would you pick up? Answered in thread. But probably Wet 'n' Wild, NYC, or Jesse's Girl cosmetics, Cover Girl Lip Perfection lipsticks, or a nice hair glaze.   Darling Witchee, would you enjoy farmer's market pickled veggies (green beans, garlic, asparagus, etc) or fresh canned peaches or something of that nature? Love anything pickled.   Do you prefer color or white photographs? Nature or abstract? Generally the images I love most are B&W. I prefer nature to abstract.   would you be interested in something like this? https://lostcrates.com/how-it-works Sounds really cool!   Amigurumi, yes or no? Sure, why not. I need to learn how to make them.   I have a question! What are some of your favorite paintings? (famous or undiscovered?) Feel free to link to examples! Love Courbet, the Symbolists, the Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau, Klimt, Schiele.   If you could have an image painted for you - sky is the limit - what would it be? A portrait of me in the style of Klimt or the Pre-Raphaelites.   Name your 3 favorite scents for candles Spice, non-piney woods, non-foodie vanilla.   Name your 3 favorite types/flavors of tea Assam black tea, blends with a bit of Lapsang Souchong (like Baker Street Afternoon Blend from Upton), Moroccan mint.   What is something people are always surprised to learn about you? That I wasn't always a lawyer!   So who else watched Babylon 5? Nope.   If you had to decide what your stripper name was, what would it be? Well if you do the pet/street thing I'd be Dusty Mackey, but I kind of like Anita Mann.   Sooooo Witchees, have you ever taken that particular personality test? If so, are you an Analytical, a Driver, an Expressive or an Amiable? I'm terrible at these tests because I never want to pick just one answer. It really depends on the situation I'm in.   Is anyone else afraid of or creepy out by dummies/puppets/Muppets/etc? Other things you're squicked/freaked by that's best left by the wayside? Ventriloquist dummies -- hate them. Love marionettes, Muppets, and almost all other types of puppets. On other squick, I am not a blood and guts lover. No horror stuff.   what level of contact were you hoping for? As much as my Witch feels comfortable giving! I love contact, it makes me feel special, but I don't want it to be a burden. I'll take heartfelt quality over quantity.   Are there any local museums/attractions you keep never getting around to going to? The Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens.   Is there any kind of international candy you love or would like to try? Salted licorice from Europe.   What is something totally random (yes, that thing that just popped into your head) that hasn't been covered by any previous questions? I love spa services and massages. Would love gift certificates for that, and home spa treatment items.   Is there any cheesy/non-cheesy Canadian stuff you'd be interested in? Well, being as I married a Canadian, I get my hands on most of that stuff whenever I want. There are these folk art Mounties at a store in Vancouver I've had my eye on for years. In the non-cheesy category, I am seriously in love with the art of the First Nations from the Vancouver area.   If you were to go here and create your very own chocolate bar, what might it have in it? Dark chocolate-lavender, Dark chocolate-caramel-sea salt, Dark chocolate-cayenne (or combine those last two)   say you stumbled into Camp Half Blood (or whatever the Roman camp ends up being named <bounces in anticipation>), which god claims you? I'm a daughter of Athena, for sure.   Stuff you've been meaning to do: take up guitar lessons again. Learn to make soap. Deal with my hideous crammed closets.   Would you be interested in regional jams, jellies, or other preserves? Yes, I love that sort of thing, especially pickled stuff.   Do you have any bedtime rituals? Is there any particular product you have to apply or a certain shirt you wear or an act you perform to get you in the "bedtime" mood? Usually I just collapse these days. I like to put on a short chemise type nightgown and read in bed. Lately I've been applying a bit of TKO and it seems to help. I only have an imp, though!   Are you interested in today's/any recent Tee Fury shirts? Don't know these.   Princess Bride? Yay or nay? YAY! Love the book, but was also quite taken with the movie.   What's your favorite classic fairytale, witches Hansel & Gretel   how do you feel about ethical animal fiber, i.e. wool and the like? I am good with all fibers   What about little wee creatures for your desk or mantel? I like stuff for my desk in my office, but no space at home.   Look down. What are you wearing, right now? When I posted in thread it was pretty dire. Today it's a green print dress from Boden and olive green t-strap platform heels   Kerchiefs? No, thanks.   It's the weekend, and you find yourself without a single chore or responsibility for a few hours. Right this very moment, what's the one thing you would do if you could do anything? Get into bed with a good book and a Tivo stuffed with good shows, and just let myself get absorbed, while noshing on some sweets and fruit. Then take a nice long nap.   Is there anything you'd like from the Mütter Museum Store? I am fascinated by the Mutter Museum, but haven't looked at the store selections. Surprise me!   I just noticed that Cocoa Pink has 5 ml Perfume Atomizers. Yay or nay? Scents you would like? Scents you would NOT like? I don't know them, but anything featuring my preferred notes would be welcome.   what's your favorite kind of pizza? Pepe's in New Haven's white clam pizza. A close second would be sausage, spinach, and ricotta. Coal or wood oven preferred. Pepperoni always welcome.   who are your style/fashion icons? post pics if you want! No time to post pictures now, but I like to sum up my preferred look as "Sally Bowles gets a day job." Not the Liza Sally Bowles, the one from the book. I love Dita von Teese's look, Bettie Page. Not that I can pull those off at all. And any kind of pre-Raphaelite girl with flowing hair and gowns.   Are there any food items you're craving/aren't able to find around your area? I love Trader Joe's fleur de sel caramel, but they're seasonal.   If you're interested in a handmade pouch/cover for an item you have (phones, tablets, books, keys, kettles...), what would your ideal pouch/cover have? Design, material, additional functionality/features like pockets or lights or secret hidey-holes? For Kindle 2: built-in light and a small attached notepad and pen to jot down books I think of that I want to order but can't right this moment. For any device: nothing heavy or bulky.   Would you like a photo collage based around your interests/favorite colors/favorite themes? That would be cool, though hard for me to find display space.   If you're crafty, are you interested in spoonfeather? And if so, what things there delight your eyes? Not familiar with this   Colors! What are your favorite colors and what colors do you not like? Pictures and links, people! I love anything jewel-like and iridescent. Cobalt, peacock, ruby, emerald, deep violet, aqua. And PINK!   What is your favorite word? I overuse the word FUCK to a great degree.   What are the feelings on arm warmers? Color, style, texture, length? I don't find them comfortable.   Do you like tarts? tealights? jar candles? votives? I like jar and votive. I don't have a tart warmer, so unless I got one those wouldn't be good.   What's your favorite flavor? Sour, sweet, bitter, salty? Yes, all of those. I like them all in balance. Savory generally wins over sweet, and I like things very piquant.   So, are there any online gaming witchees who covet purchasable in-game items or other gamer-y stuff? (yup, geek question) I don't play.   Anyone doing anything cool for Mabon (or the start of fall, if you aren't pagan? Just the usual Rosh Hashanah/fall eating.   What is your favorite coffee blend at Starbucks? If you don't have one, what is your favorite roast of coffee? Espresso   Cthulhu: yay or nay? Meh.   Witchee, have you made (or are you planning to make) any Lab or Trading post orders soon? And if you did (or plan to), you should share what you're getting I ordered Sprinklecake and Tree of Life. I really really really want to get Hermia.

More ketchup for my Witch

Splitting up the ketchup!   NEW UPDATE: I think my new favorite spicy blend is Chimera.   Does anyone else like collector Barbies? I do! Though really limited space to display them. Klimt, Mad Men (especially Joan), anything with Hollywood glamour. If there were a redheaded executive/lawyer Barbie she'd have pride of place in my office.   What small everyday items would you like, that you keep forgetting to get? If I could remember I wouldn't forget!   Tarot I'd love to learn to read Tarot. A deck with Art Nouveau theme and a good book on the subject would be awesome.   Tell me about something you like, and why you like it. Turn of the century-1920s erotica! They actually look like they're having fun, and the bodies are not so manufactured.   If you're the MMU type of Witchee, what Geek Chic Cosmetics tickle your fancy? I'm not. Love cosmetics, but don't really need a lot more glittery/wild color stuff, unfortunately.   Would any witchees be interested inQuinn Popcorn? I love either good quality caramel (salted!) or savory like Parmesan.   Who likes silly items from Archie McPhee??? Yes, especially if they're slightly useful (such as funny pushpins) or small.   Nocturne Alchemy's NAlloween Pt. 2 update is live here! (And for a few days, last month's update too.) What do you want? I think I'm Halloween-scented-out.   What are you drooling over from the Sock Dreams Halloween stuff? I'm not big on novelty socks, but I do love OTK opaques, so these are adorable: http://www.sockdreams.com/products/whats-new/skulls-over-the-knee http://www.sockdreams.com/products/whats-new/heidi-over-the-knee Also these in black or red: http://www.sockdreams.com/products/whats-new/checkerboard-knee-high   Luck charms? Not really   Does anyone want anything from... here...? For some reason, cake in a jar doesn't appeal to me all that much.   For those of you that like candles, do you like stuff from Yankee Candle? And if you had to choose, tarts or candles? Not wild about them. I find them artificial smelling. I did used to like their Clean Cotton   Would you be interested in getting a custom necklace fromhere? Pretty!   Is there a movie you want so badly that you don’t own now? Trying to own fewer DVDs, but one I really want, because my whole family adores it, is Singin' in the Rain   Is there a song on Itunes that you haven’t downloaded yet? All of them! Right now want some Frank Turner   Is there a rare book you’ve always wanted? I'd like to get my hands on the inexplicably out of print All of a Kind Family series, which I adored as a kid and sadly didn't save.   Is there anything you want to buy yourself but have been too embarrassed (R rated or pg)? Haven't sprung for a good bikini wax in some time!   Have you seen the Lush holiday update? Do you like the look of anything from there? Not a giant Lush fan   if you were my witchee, would you want some of my hot nuts my candied nuts my nuts covered in butter and brown sugar candied walnuts? I love hot/candied/spiced nuts of all kinds!   Is there anything you either didn't like or had never heard of that you're now curious to try thanks to the discussion in this thread? Villainess Smacks and Smooches!   Reveal? I would love it if my Witch is up for it. But I understand if s/he prefers to remain anon. I plan to reveal.   Would you be interested in the #occupywallstreet scent? Ordered it! Patchouli is iffy on me, but I like the really earthy stuff. The other notes sounded so good to me, and I support the cause.   Do Paintbox Soapworks' Goat's Milk Hand and Body Creams sound like something you'd like to try? Very much   Witchee, would you like anything from this particular Haunt update? I wouldn't mind you choosing something you think I'd like   Who's interested in Halloween: Montreal? I wasn't running out to grab a bottle, but would be interested to sample it.   You get a package in the mail containing 3 things you have really wanted more than anything else you've mentioned so far in this thread. (they are all reasonably priced of course! ~$20 or less apiece). What are they? 1. a 5 ml of Hermia 2. a blackened red glossy lipstick, I have no idea from where as I keep trying to find one and failing 3. a leather cuff bracelet like this: http://www.etsy.com/listing/78992341/braided-grey-leather-cuff-bracelet?ref=af_you_favitem   how do you feel about hemp? jewelry, soap, etc? Not that into it   Is there a magazine that you DON'T read because you can't find it near you, but wish you could? Hm, not that I can think of.   Describe your sense of humour. Enjoy wordplay, verbal raunch (see The Aristocrats, Louis C.K.), irony, sarcasm. Also very into black comedy -- did masters work on the use of comedy to explore difficult material like The Holocaust   Do you like reusable grocery bags? If so, do you like the kind that fold up (ie Chico Bags?) I always carry several Chico Bags in my purse, and like the fold up ones best. Can always stand to update my stash of these   I'm about to make an order from Sephora (nothing off of my wishlist, witch, so don't worry about that). Is there anything for you that you would like to accompany my order, if you're my witchee? See blackened red lipstick, above! Also need a good black liquid felt tip liner   What kind of purse do you prefer? Leather, cloth? over the shoulder or crossbody, or something that can do either? Do you like bold bright prints with fun things, or monochrome, solid colours? Leather. I like classic bags that close firmly. Probably best for me to buy these for myself   julep maven monthly boxes: Took the test and even though I selected blacks, blues, and neutrals, it pegged me as American Beauty and picked pale yellows and reds. SO NOT ME. But if they got it right it would be fun.   Your favorite restaurant or type of food to eat out. Would you use a restaurant.com voucher? Groupon? I really don't use Groupon but would enjoy a gift certificate to a local restaurant in my area. I most enjoy Thai, Japanese, Latin American, and also enjoy bistros.   Like commercial socks? I'm not really a sock person   What kind of bear is best? Big cuddly gay bears! And gummi.   Is anyone interested in reading The Night Circus? YES   Hershey's Pumpkin Spice kisses? No   I have a not-so-secret love for The Broship of the Rings. Are there any prints from her store you'd like? No, thanks   Who here likes Stephanie Pui-Min Law's artwork? Very pretty, but a little pastel for my taste   Do you drink wine? Yes, and lots of it.   Witches, did you lament NOT getting one of the condom case/imp cases that got released with the courtesan series??? Not really. Celeste is one of my all time favorite scents, but my mental image is very different from the images used in that release.   I recently saw candy corn in non-candy corn flavors like CHOCOLATE and CARAMEL APPLE. It's not a fancy brand, I just saw it in the drugstore, but who here would like something like that? CARAMEL APPLE   JONES SODA CO has LE soda packs for The Guild, Buffy, D&D, So Cute, etc. Would you be interested in these, Witchee? Weird soda flavors freak me out a little. Also trying to drink less of it. But Blenheim's Hot Ginger Ale is a major favorite   It'sBanned Books Week! Are there any books on the list you'd be interested in checking out? I am a fan of the banned! Though that particular list isn't that interesting to me -- I've either read it or don't care to.   I have just been enlightened to THESE. Are these flavors relevant to your interests? Foodie lip balm not really my thing   Is there anything you would want from NYCC, something you'd like your witch to ask me to pick up? I'm not really a Comic Con follower, so there might be stuff I'd love but I wouldn't know for sure!   The best thing I ever ate...: I'm such a foodie type that I don't think I could pick just one thing, but some contenders -- bouillabaisse in St. Tropez, uni hand roll at Sushi Yasuda, Bi-Rite salted caramel ice cream, strawberries and tomatoes from my garden, my grandmother's mandelbrot, New Year's Eve dinner at La Tour d'Argent, lobster eaten with my hands at a picnic table outside at a Maine lobster pound, the skin off the turkey while my dad is carving it at Thanksgiving, BACON   Do you like liquorice? If so, hard or soft? Sweet or salt? Normally salted or so salt it pulls your face into a fishy shape? And which shapes do you like? All kinds! Some of the salted starts to taste a little ammonia to me, but I've never disliked any of the firmly chewy kind.   Mac using witchees, what computers do you use? What peripherals/accessories do you have and what would you LIKE to have? What do you use your computer for? I have a MacBook, one of the older white ones. I don't think I need anything for it other than a new computer, but we're not quite there yet. I use it mostly for web browsing and working on my never-to-be-finished novel.   Do you like listening to audiobooks? Would you like to receive one, and if you would, what sort of audiobook would you like--or is there a particular audiobook you've been meaning to get? I don't regularly listen to them, though I have enjoyed some immensely. What tends to happen is my mind starts wandering and then I have to find my way back to the spot I went astray. I did once have a volume of Rumpole of the Bailey stories that were wonderful when read aloud, and wouldn't mind getting more of those.   Are there any DIY / Crafty / Free / Budget items you'd love to get but haven't noted yet? (Or, maybe you'd just like to emphasize something you may have only noted in passing?) I'd love a witchy crafter to use some of her/his stash items to make me a starter kit for a project, especially in beading or soapmaking.   Do you own a DSLR camera? Are you interested in a minky camera strap like these? What about anything from Photojojo? An ancient one I never use, so I don't think so.   Is anybody else into film photography? Interested in receiving film, supplies, etc from Lomography? Not any more, sadly.   Are you musically inclined? Do you play an instrument or sing? If so, what? Planning to start taking guitar and/or piano lessons again. I'd love a guitar strap!   Do you like scary books? What's the best/scariest thing you've ever read? I do like scary books! I mostly like them scary in the form of hard boiled/serial killer/police procedurals. I'll never forget when I read The Silence of the Lambs. The movie had just come out, and I'd heard it was really scary, so I wanted to read it first. I started it right before I left Washington, DC, where I'd been working on a play, and basically could not put it down. I was terrified, but compelled. I remember sitting in my hotel room with my stuff all packed up, just not being able to move until I'd read it.   Are you interested in anything in the latest round of Lab auctions on eBay? I restrained myself, but Giant Vulva! I don't usually do eBay because of the stress.   What favorite song(s) would you think would translate into a cool or unique scent? Ziggy Stardust!   Anyone interested in VApothecary's Halloween update? Not really.   Interested in anything from the Beaver Moon Lunacy update? I ordered Beaver Moon. The Thai scent sounds interesting, but not enough to order. I wouldn't mind a tester.   I sent you with $20 into a drugstore/Walmart (nothing too fancy/imported/expensive, just your average selection), and you are restricted only to the candy aisle. What would you blow it on? This is my fantasy. I'd get a lot of chewy Sweettarts, chewy Spree, a bag of the cherry pull-apart Twizzlers or Nibs, some Haribo gummies, especially the sour peaches and the alphabet letters, a box of Milk Duds. Now 'n' Laters if they have them.   What is your favorite kind of cookie? Homemade pretty much anything, as long as no macadamia nuts. I really love the big chewy-soft molasses ginger cookies and a good old classic Tollhouse. Bought, I'm quite fond of the dark chocolate Petit Ecoliers.   How many boxes are you hoping for? As many as my witch would like to send! Even little things in the mailbox are exciting.   How do you feel about loose leaf tea in baggies? I mean, I have a TON of loose leaf, would it be okay if I send you samples in some zip lock baggies? Or is that something that would squick you out? I am all for it, but label it so I know what it is and can get more if I like it!   How would you feel about getting a custom poster with your favorite quote on it and some cool graphics? I'm an architecture student and can print posters (provided I make them) at pretty much any size using Adobe Illustrator at a low price. Also if you would be interested in this, what quotes would you like? Sadly I am out of wall space.

Haribo gummies (maybe the peaches, haven't had them for a while), Milani Liquif'eye black eyeliner, crackle nail polish, Sally Hansen nail strips (maybe the fishet or lace ones).   2. I live near a brick and morter location for a really, really good spice store. Would you use cooking spices and if you would, what would you need? (It's Penzey's if you want to Google it.) Vanilla beans, good cinnamon, Mexican oregano, pink peppercorns, edible lavender.   3. Do you like knitted goods? If so, what would you like, what colors, and do you have any sensitivites or preference when it comes to type of yarn (ex: wool: yay or nay? Do you prefer machine washable materials? Do you not care?)? I'm a knitter and I love knitwear. Any fiber, as long as not scratchy. I could really use a hat to go with brown and camel coats. Favorite colors are earth tones and jewel tones (plus black) and love variegated yarns.   4. Hey swap partner... could you use a new mug? Don't need ceramic mugs, but could use one of the big plastic cold drink cups with a straw that look like to go cups.   5. Is there any sort of regional food/drink/treat you miss or have always wanted to try? I love to try regional treats of all kinds. Especially love hot sauces, pickled items, spices, interesting potato chips.   6. Do you do a Christmas tree? If yes is it themed or specially colored or do you just have all different ornaments and such? We do. It's very colorful and eclectic, so really anything goes. I like when ornaments symbolize personal interests (I have pickle, martini shaker, and carnival mask ones, for instance) so something knitting or perfume/cosmetics themed would be cool!   7. Would you like a special ornament? Sure!   8. Tim Tams. Yay or nay? Nom nom nom!   9. Now, a question of my own: I know some people are squicked out at the idea of eating things that other people make, or the thought of deep fried cookies sends them into cardiac arrest. If you were my fox, would you like to receive some homemade goodies, or would you prefer that your goodies came from the store? Would love your goodies!   10. Would any Bunny like to receive Holiday serving bowls, trays, platters etc...? Winter/Christmas or Thanksgiving/Fall themed? If they fit in our general decor, which is Arts & Crafts/Mission/handpainted sure.   11. My lovely fluffy Snow Bunny, would you like a body scrub made by me? If so, what scent(s) would you like, if you had to think along the lines of essential oils? And would you prefer sugar or salt? A dryer scrub or one that's more oily/moist? Oooh, wow. I have dry skin and love scrubs. Sugar and vanilla would thrill me to pieces. Also love pink grapefruit and sugar, lavender salt, or maybe something with amber.   12. Dear snow bunny, do you like candles? If yes, then what kind? Scented (what scents), unscented, what colors, do you like them plain/painted on the outside/with decorations attached to the surface/sculpted? I love unscented candles for the table. I am also fond of scented candles but rarely burn them because of little kids all over the place. It's a great way to enjoy woodsy scents that I can't wear because I amp woods, pine, etc.   13. Also what do you think of little soaps? I know most people don't use soaps nowadays but I love the chocolate/vanilla/cocoa/butter/sugar combo scents that I see at beauty stores.... I luuuurve soaps, all kinds. If they're pretty or amusing shapes, I love the guest soap concept, because I am a 50s housewife at heart.   14. Socks! Slippers! Do you love them or not really wear them? If you love them, do you also love Sock Dreams? I'm not big into socks, but I do wear them. I really don't wear novelty designs. SmartWool are amazing and I'd love another pair. I love Sock Dreams, mostly for my growing collection of OTK and thigh high socks.   15. Would you wear something like this if your Fox were to knit you one? If so, what color? Working from memory here -- if that was the cowl, I've never worn one. I don't like tight things around my neck, but if it's loose and warm, I think it would be much simpler to wear than a scarf. So yes! Earth/jewel/black would be great.   16. New question: talk to me of coffee. Whole bean? Ground? Flavored, not flavored? Decaf, whole caff? Favorite roasters? Drip, french press, keurig? BRING ON THE TEA? I love both coffee and tea. Coffee needs to be strong and unflavored, though good quality syrups in vanilla or caramel would be nice. I use both a steam espresso maker and a French press. Also have a drip, but it lives most of the time in the closet. Tea: love black teas. Don't really love heavily flavored ones, but once in a while I come across one that does work for me, including vanilla, mango, and blackcurrant. I like a touch of lapsang souchong for smokiness and good Earl Grey. Also like Moroccan Mint tea.   17. Who else here loves or would like to try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics? If so, what would you like? Love OCC Lip Tar and would love to try more colors and their other products. I have: Petty Beige, Clear, Melange, Trollop, and Strutter.   18. Have you tried anything from Cocoa Pink and if so, what products and scents do you like or would like to try? Never did, but always willing! I like vanilla scents, especially if they're not heavily foodie (like combined with amber, etc.)   19. Anybody into nail polish? Any color or formula preferences? I love love love it. Especially love earthy metallics and duochromes.   20. If you found a $50 bill on the ground and were to place a Lab order, what would be in it? (And shipping is free through the magical BPAL unicorn!) If BPTP is allowed, I'd get a bottle of Honey or Fig/Sandalwood hair gloss. Then fill in with a bottle of Hermia and some wand caps. If all perfume, I'd get Hermia and Lady Una and make up the rest in imps (Lyonesse, Dorian, Snake Oil, Eat Me).   21. Is there any particular holiday DVD that you don't have that you would like to own? Muppet Christmas Carol and a new copy of How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which got scratched. The Nutcracker, preferably the SF Ballet version. Oh, and Bad Santa for after the kids go to bed.   22. How do you feel about superheros? Are you a Marvel or DC fan? Do you have a favorite hero? Not a big superhero fan. I used to be Superman's trademark lawyer, though!   23. Would my bunny like anything in particular from Lush? I do have access to an actual Lush store, and also wouldn't mind ordering retro items online. Never been a big Lush fan, but if my favorite notes inspire you to gift something you think I might like, I would give it another chance.   24. Would you like a Paintbox from Paintbox Soapworks? If so, which scents? Love Paintbox, and only have a few items from them. Would love to try Snoggin', Comfort & Joy, Gingermilk, Big in Japan, This Charming Man soaps, White Snow and Avast Sorbettos. Or surprise me!   25. NEW QUESTION! - Do you have kids (or kid-like pets) who your fox may want to take into account, either in terms of a little extra goody or simple safety? I have three boys (ages 9, 5, and 10 months) and two lovely cats, but don't worry about all of them, worry about ME ME ME!   26. How do you feel about honey/beeswax? Would you like any? I love honey and beeswax products.   27. Are you a Trader Joe's fan, who either doesn't have a store nearby or just loves their stuff and has a wishlist? I am a whore for their seasonal salted caramels and also the spicy dried mangoes and pineapple. Luckily there is one right by my office, but I would not mind help stockpiling the caramels.   28. The Paintbox Soapworks Yules are up, or at least round one is (updates coming throughout the week). Interested in anything? see #24   29. If I were to place ONE LAST Weenie order, what would you want me to include for you? the only thing that really got me excited was Halloween: Las Vegas but I have some on order.   30. Will you be away for any part of the round? Just thanksgiving.   31. Anyone else with an Etsy store and a member of Tradeaholics (or you could join) and interested in bartering for gifts for their bunny? No shop.   32. What type of books do you like? Dying to read anything? Big reader! Check me out on goodreads under my real name.   33. Do you enjoy things that taste like roses? For example chewing gum, turkish delight, delicious goo that you eat by the spoonful out of a glass jar? Also, same question about mastic. Would you be interested in trying it out? Rose, yes. Violet, no. Never tried mastic, so sure. Note: rose-pomegranate mojitos are amazing.   34. If you like Christmas music (or any other holiday music, for that matter), what kind of style do you like? Traditional? Modern and poppy? Indie? Everything other than caterwauling pop stuff you hear in malls.   35. I live in the city of the chicken wing. If I were to send you something savory, what's your heat tolerance (or sweet and heat for that matter)? I love spicy food, pretty darn hot, but not so hot you can't taste anything else. Love sweet and heat combo so much!   36. If your fox/bunny were to gift you with a giftcard from anywhere, as in any store foodwise, music wise etc. what giftcard would you like? Sephora, etsy, Villainess, Trader Joes, iTunes   37. If I were to send you chocolate is there anything I should avoid as in nuts, cherries etc.? Also, what are some of your favorite holiday candies? I'm not a fan of mint. But I do like a candy cane now and then! Love salted caramels, toffee, butterscotch, that type of stuff.   38. Does anything from Fusion Sweets interest you? Yummy! It all sounds good! The stuff with salted caramel, chai, grapefruit, lychee, especially.   39. Interested in anything from the Elements and Artifacts Yule update? Oh lovely. Will update wish list.   40. What are your opinions on traditional holiday cookie flavorings? I'm thinking anise and cardamom in particular. I love anise. Cardamom I'm a little less crazy about, but I like it. Am a big cinnamon and ginger fan.   41. Do you like artisan oils and vinegars? Oh yes!   42. Charity gifts? Either fair-trade type stuff, or virtual type gifts, like vaccinations or school supplies being bought on your behalf, or something along those lines? I love the charities that provide needed supplies requested by teachers. But all your suggestions sound good to me.   43. Bunny, are you interested in tarts from Two Timing Tart? What scents, if any, are you interested in? I don't have a tart burner, but Insomniac sounds so good! Also any vanilla ones.   44. Do you need any holiday recipies? Is there something in particular that you'd like baked or made for you? And for those of you doing the no sugar/low sugar, etc. thing these days, how about savory things? I adore gingerbread and really any kind of fancy cookies. Not doing low sugar, but I also love savory treats.   45. Speaking about candles, how much do you look forward to the BPTP candles that will be launched on Etsy? I don't know if there will be other scents than the Samhain and Pumpkin Cookie one, but is there a specific one you are longing for? I don't really use a lot of scented candles.   46. Does anyone have issues with gently used things like books, etc.? Books, music, videos, kitchen items like gadgets and cookie cutters all fine. A little wary of fabric items. Oh, and will take used BPAL of course!   47. Are you a big ol' nerd for any particular subject? Science, math, linguistics, etc? Or particular authors/fandoms? No, I'm pretty diverse in my interests, not terribly obsessive about any one thing.   48. Bunnies, how do you feel about lemon-flavored items, like lemon marmalade, lemon curd, lemon pound cake, or lemon cookies? TO DIE FOR. If holborne is willing to nacho some of her lemon squares, I would take them!   49. fingerless mittens or full mitts? I have never tried fingerless and am sort of interested in what they're like.   50. reveal, yes or no? I am going to reveal, and I hope my fox wants to, but up to her/him.   51. Any favorite cuddly characters? I have a soft spot for Grover, but no room for any more cuddlies.   52. Moxie Nouveau groupon? I've never tried them, so would probably not know what to do with it, but wouldn't mind pointers!   53. what's your favourite colour? I love pinks, purples, peacock, aqua, emerald. All my leather accessories are pink.   54. Your favourite gemstone? If I had to pick one, I'd say fire opal. I also love diamond, ruby, emerald, aquamarine, sapphire, moonstone, garnet.   55. Your favourite animal (real or imaginary)? I'm not that into animals, but I'm always fascinated by gorillas and the big cats.   56. And do you have any intense phobias? Not really.   57. Are you Nano-ing this month, bunny? If so, how would you feel about merch/donations to the cause? Not this time, maybe someday.   58. Do you like/need boxes for perfume/knicknacks? I have a box that's pretty good for my bottles (not full yet!) but my imps are a disaster!

I think they only have the soap this year.   9/29   Would anyone like a witch pendant? -- Even better, I'd love a witch charm for my charm bracelet.   What's a new company to you that you most want to try a product from or what would be a new product to you that you most want to try (make-up, perfume, or bath/body)? -- Carnival Wax! Would also love an introduction to Conjure Oils.   If you like necklaces, what are some symbols or images that you would love to have a necklace depict? -- A peacock.   9/27   Gardening? -- I am a trial-and-error gardener, and mostly do kitchen garden stuff -- herbs, tomatoes, like that.   Is there anything you might want from the latest update (Lab or TP)? -- I've ordered the few decants I would like to try, and a bar of Spanish Red Carnation soap. I wouldn't mind trying the Pumpkin Tart soap, and all of the candles sound amazing. I can enjoy scents in candles that I can't wear on my skin, and particularly would love to try Black Cloves and Dead Leaves. But they all sound great and I've never had a BPAL candle.   Is there something(s) that you consider too spendy or too frivolous for you to buy for yourself, but that you actually want? -- The BPAL candles, a tart burner, a peacock charm for my charm bracelet.   Do you use or would like to try loose eyeshadow pigments? -- I have a ton of them and honestly don't use them as much as my pressed shadows. I would love some fixing medium to make them easier to use.   9/26   Witchee, do you want anything from the Haunt update coming up on 10/3? I know it might be too early to say, but if you could look at the preview on the night of 10/2 and let me know if you want anything... -- I've never tried any Haunt.   Do any of Villainness' Soap Box exclusive scents interest you, especially any of the Smooches/Whippeds? -- Well Autumn Gala sounds lovely, and I do love a good scrub. Masala sounds, whoa, amazing. And Xia could be wonderful.   Puddin' just put a shitton of old Lunacy shirts on the BPTP Etsy! Any ones interest you? -- Not seeing any at this time. I wouldn't mind a t-shirt though!   9/25   What do you do to take care of yourself when you're having a rough day (sick, life not going your way, whatever)? -- I curl up in bed or on the sofa and flit from book to magazine to iPad to knitting. I make a nice cup of tea and have some fruit, alternating with some good caramels. Sometimes I do a tarot reading, which often helps me feel more calm. And then I play with my kids.   Who here is going to be picking up JK Rowling's new book on Thursday -- Zero interest in this. I barely made it through Harry Potter.   favorite and least favorite baked goods? -- Favorite: chocolate tart, chocolate cream pie, chocolate chip cookies, molasses-ginger cookies, coffee cake, cinnamon buns. Least favorite: anything with bananas in it, coconut cream pie.   what size T-Shirt do you wear (standard AND babydoll)? -- Probably S unless it runs small, then a M.   I found a fantastic little shop while traveling that had unusual jellies and jams. Would you be interested in trying something like Georgia Moonshine Jelly or TOE Jam (each letter stands for some kind of fruit, I don't remember which ones) or something similar? How about homemade jam in general? -- I'm low carb so I don't eat much jam, but I do love an unusual homemade one. I also love preserves that you can eat with cheese, like a fig preserve.   Would you be interested in homemade herbal remedies and tinctures? -- I'm a little afraid of taking these, so only with very good instructions on when and how to use it.   9/24 Paintbox Soapworks: Interested in anything from her? -- I am a huge fan of her stuff. I have a good bit stashed, but one sample I had and really liked was The Olive Tree. Wouldn't mind a bar of that and maybe the matching Sorbetto and a lotion.   ThinkGeek: anything interesting to you on there? -- Haven't looked there in quite a while. I think their stuff is amusing, but unless it's got some kind of practical use (like funny post-it notes or what have you) I'm kind of reluctant to add more novelty stuff to my life.   What's one thing you want, right now, that you're having difficulty finding? -- A pencil skirt in a non-boring color.   are there any e-tailers you're desperately wanting to try? if so, any specific items/scents/etc? -- I've never tried Conjure, Blooddrop, or Arcana and would like to. Look at my note preferences and make suggestions, because I don't know where to start! Also interested in trying House of Gloi. Oh, and Carnival Wax, thinking about splurging on a couple of samples.   9/23 Lip balm - tube or tin? -- I especially like the type that comes is a squeeze tube with the angled surface for applying. Jack Black is my favorite brand. I don't like it if it's at all sticky, and I'm pretty sensitive to fruit flavors like strawberry or peach. better to stick to herbal or citrus flavors.   Would you like to receive a journal or sketchbook? How about other pretty paper goods like post-its, notepads, bookmarks, letter paper/envelopes? -- Love all this stuff. Not a big bookmark user, but all the other stuff is among my favorites.   Are you interested in audiobooks? If so, any specific titles? -- I don't have a lot of experience with audio books, because I only can listen while I'm driving, and I find my mind wandering and then I have to backtrack, but those I've listened to I've really enjoyed. I adore funny British stories, like Rumpole of the Bailey or David Lodge's academic satires in this format, and actually loved listening to Tim Curry read Anne Rice, when I'm not really an Anne Rice fan. But he made it such fun.   Bar soaps with some scrubby bits, yes or no? -- Oh I love these! Scents I don't really like in perfume (mint, citrus, pink grapefruit) I absolutely love in a scrubby soap.   Do you need any small electronic gadgets like flash drives and the like? -- Hm, I don't think so, but if you have something specific in mind, let me know!   Would you like a pair of knitted socks? -- Oh yes!   Do you have any use for knitted dishcloths, facecloths, etc, especially if they were fandom related? -- This isn't really up my alley.   Do you subscribe to any sample boxes, and if so, which ones? Would you like to receive some samples? (perfume, eco/"green," skin care, hair, music downloads, cosmetics, soap...) -- I used to get Birchbox, but I cancelled after several lackluster boxes and a dawning suspicion that my $120 a year would be better spent on buying, say, half a dozen bottles of BPAL I picked out for myself and foregoing the monthly surprise. That said, if anyone ever comes up with a really quality MAKEUP (not mostly hair/skin/body with the occasional nail polish) box, or a perfume oil box, I might consider it. Also maybe a knitting/yarn box.   do you have a problem with nudes???Male or Female? -- I have zero problem with either! My grandfather was a painter and my house is covered with his drawings and paintings, many of which are nude studies. They are even hanging in the kids' playroom, which is probably disturbing to some of the kids who come over to play, come to think of it. And I live with 4 males who seem to love going around pantsless, so either is really fine. Anything with erotic content would be cherished, and shared only with those who are of appropriate age.   People ask a lot of questions about dogs and cats, but I know a lot of forumites have rodent pets. How would you feel about hammocks or toys for your rats/hamsters/gerbils/etc.? -- I am not a rodent person.   My Little Pony... Cute or meh? -- not just meh, I actually find it rather creepy.   I realize that we had a similar question in the ?aire, but I need you Witchee-s to list at least 5 items, each ranging $20 and under from Amazon.com or Walmart.com. -- Tarot decks (I can get more specific if you ask), a new cute patterned sleeve/case for my iPhone 4, a set of colored pencils, tights in assorted colors other than black, brown, or burgundy, anew large size travel bag for toiletries and cosmetics   My new job is at a consignment store where we have all kinds of designer brands for very reasonable prices. Are there designer clothes/purses/sunglasses that you desire/love? (Give some indication as to your "style" as well. For example, do you like bohemian-style frocks in lavender? Crossbody purses in black? Sunglasses that are round and bug-like?) -- I love classic designer handbags, structured ones like the Hermes Birkin and also hobos. I love very European classics (like an Audrey Hepburn look) or eclectic boho stuff, very 30s cabaret star on her day off or at her day job. Love Prada.   Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting? -- Weenies aren't my big temptation, so I ordered some decants and we'll see if I need anyone beyond that. The closest to a sure thing is The Perilous Parlor. Sugar Skull too, but I have a bottle and some decants.   In the meantime, let me know what you like to do on the Internet to kill time. Flash games? What are your daily websites/blog visits, or favorite YouTube videos? -- I spend a lot of time on the forum and The Well, Twitter, and Ravelry. I read news and politics sites regularly. I like beauty blogs too.   And what are your favourite characters from your fandoms? -- I'm not really a fandom type person.   What is your holy grail "I'd kill to just have one drop in an imp" bpal scent? -- I'd say Black Lace, Celeste, and Halloween: Las Vegas are up there, and fortunately I have decent hoards.   Are there any existing Weenies that you have your eye on, but haven't gotten around to getting -- Still waiting on decants!   if you wear earrings, do you have pierced ears? -- Yes.   9/19   You are meeting up with someone on a casual lunch/early afternoon thing. This person is someone you want to impress/look good for (for whatever reason, not necessarily romantic, and not necessarily for business either). What would you look like, given the contents of your wardrobe/etc? -- Since it's a casual daytime thing, I'd wear my new skinny jeans in a dark wash with a drapey sleeveless top I have in a sort of silvery taupe and my faux-leather taupe cropped jacket. I'd probably wear my Fluevog black lace-up short boots, a brown leather wrap bracelet, and some kind of yummy BPAL, like Black Lace. Makeup, of course!   You are to be let loose in a clothing store of your choice, to pick a full outfit, down to the shoes, the accessories, etc. and things would be altered to fit you if needed. What store would that be, and what would you look like? -- I don't generally buy all my stuff from one store, but I bet I could do some serious damage at Prada! But in real life I'm more likely to do this at Boden. I would pick a dress with maybe some gathering or wrapping around the bodice with a deep v-neck, a jacket with a nipped-in waist to go over it, some cool textured tights, knee-high boots with lacing or buckles to add interest, and a leather cuff bracelet and dangly earrings. This would be a mix of neutrals with some pops of color.   You open a box from the post office to reveal the 3 things you want most right now. What are they? (caveats: size doesn't matter, but they have to be tangible/buyable). -- A pair of Fluevog boots, either the Hotcakes, Mattie Silks, or Sugar; the perfect deep red satin lipstick; a spa gift certificate (I need a massage, manicure, pedicure, and facial BAD!)   WHAT MAKES YOU LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF!!! movies, comedians, black humor, your partner, a comic strip? what? -- I'm definitely a black humor person (I wrote my masters on using comedy techniques to explore the Holocaust), though I have to say I have a soft spot for good old fashioned farce and physical comedy.   Candy Corn? -- Yes, the classic kind, not the kind that is supposed to taste chocolatey. But I don't like it fresh, I actually prefer it a bit stale so it gets chewier. So I "cure" it by leaving the bag open for a while.   I live in Japan. Anything you would be interested in from there? -- Matcha-flavored ANYTHING (love those green tea Kit Kats)! Interesting foodstuffs. Office/stationery supplies. Candy. Ceramics. Textiles.   If you have cats, do they like catnip toys? If you have doggies, would they like a super-reinforced canvas toy with a squeaker in it? -- My cats, oddly, are not that into toys.   If you have kids, what are they into? -- My two older boys (the youngest is a toddler, so who knows what he's into) love American and Canadian history, especially the Revolutionary period, military stuff, ancient Romans and Greeks, architecture, building toys, art and art supplies, journal writing, pirates, ships, airplanes, and they're both big readers.   How do you feel about wearable knitted lace? Shawls, wraps, and the like? -- I would be honored to wear handknit lace.   Looking at the warehouse, I notice that our lovely Greenwoodtree is able to do chart readings and/or forecasts at a very reasonable rate. Is this something you would want? -- That would be cool!   Do you have a forum buddy? Someone who knows you and/or your tastes well enough to answer questions on your behalf? -- Holborne can tell you more than you'd ever like to know.   If you are on Livejournal, would you appreciate LJ stuff like paid time, custom userheads, stuff like that? If you are NOT on LJ but are on other sites that have similar paid-for services (Flickr, for example?) would you, and what are those sites/etc? -- Not something I use much or need.   if you are into tarot, what is your favorite card? -- I am quite into tarot! Have been teaching myself to read and collecting decks since February. I am not sure I have a favorite card, but the Queen of Wands has some resonance for me, and the 8 of Wands turns up constantly for me.   would you like your own set of handmade rune stones or worry stones? -- I don't know how to use rune stones, but worry stones would be wonderful.   Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cider, or none of the above? -- Love all these, though since I try to avoid sugar, hot chocolate unless sugar free or cider are less appealing.   Gum, hard candy, soft candy, or none of the above? -- Not much of a gum chewer, though I adore the old Black Jack licorice gum. Like hard and soft candy, but mostly love chewy things, especially if they're strong flavored (licorice, salted licorice, hot cinnamon) or sour.   Loose tea or tea bags? Do you need anything for your loose tea? (Filters, presses, etc.) -- Loose tea. I like the cup-like filters rather than the ball kind. Very fond of teapots, especially the kind that hold a generous amount for one person.   Do you do Goodreads or LibraryThing or a site like that? If so, can I see your to-read list, please? -- I'm on Goodreads under my name and hometown, feel free!   9/18   Are you a gamer (of any sort - video, casual, tabletop) and are there any games you want? -- Not a huge gamer, but I play Scrabble and Draw Something online. Occasional board games, card games (like Quiddler) but not too often.   Do you like coffee? If so, what kinds? Flavored, fancy, basic? Beans or ground? -- I love coffee, especially espresso and dark roasts, not flavored. I have an espresso machine, a drip, and a french press, and would love it already ground as my grinder is terrible.   Would a Starbucks gift card make you happy or do you prefer your local place? -- Always up for Starbucks.   Would you be interested in BPTP CANDY? -- I was very intrigued when I saw this on FB, so I think so, yes.   CUSTOM-Made Pottery?? yea or nay? coffee mugs, rustic or more elegant? a set of bowls? soap dish? bird feeder? something alltogether different? and lastly, good colors for glazes...? -- I would love custom-made pottery. Either rustic or elegant works for me. I would adore a special mug or a knitter's yarn bowl. Coasters, too, or a nice serving piece (plate or bowl) for hors d'oeuvres. I love blue-green-purple glazes, the multifaceted drippy kind.   Songs that you keep meaning to buy but never get round to it? -- Bettye Lavette's album of 60s covers.   Movies that you love but forgot to put in your questionaire? -- Hmmm, I forget!   Name one movie you keep meaning to buy, but just never get around to getting? -- Not a movie, but I lost the first disk in the Freaks & Geeks set and would love to replace it. I would also love to own The Palm Beach Story.   Any favorite Bath & Body Works scents/products? -- No, haven't been there in years.   Haus of Gloi is offering custom perfumes - would you like one? What would your ideal blend be? -- One I've been contemplating would combine anise, cake, vanilla, and something a touch darker, maybe a little smoke. Also would love a lavender foodie blend, like lavender, cake, vanilla sugar, marshmallow.   Any Bath, Body or nutritional type items you would love to try from a Natural and Organic food store (similar to Whole Foods) that you don't buy because they are a bit too pricey? -- I would enjoy nice rich body butters.   Tell me of your taste preferences. Dry/sweet? Red/white? Lager/ale/porter/stout? Fruit? Spice? Hops? Sour (brettanomyces, etc)? -- In wine, I like a balance of dry and sweet notes, and like red and white equally. Also rose! In beer, I like the richer brews (ales, porters, etc.) and can take a good deal of bitter. Again, like balance. Not so much for the fruity or spicy brews.   are there any if MeiLin's books (e-book or print) you'd be interested in? -- I must admit I'm not familiar with her work, so introduce me!   I'm about to be near a Lush store next week, is there anything you might like from there? -- Not a big Lush fan, but if you think there is something I should try that would be nice.   Witchee, will you be gone from your normal mailing address at any point during the round? -- no   Are you a Disney fan or does even thinking about Disney make your head hurt? If you're into Disney, would you like something from the Happiest Place on Earth ? -- I enjoy visiting Disney but I'm not a great fan otherwise. I'm more of a Pixar person than a traditional Disney person, though my sister and I have a longrunning mutual love of Little Mermaid. Unless it's small and tasteful, I think I can pass. I do have a Tinkerbell charm on my charm bracelet.   dear witchee, would you, could you use an electric candle warmer? i'm talking something like this. -- I can't view the link, but I'd rather have an electric warmer so I don't have to worry about open flames.   Do you lust after some new socks/tights? -- Oh yes, especially tights and OTK/thigh high opaques. My whole drawer seems to have nothing but black, brown, and burgundy tights, and I need some other colors. Love fishnets. Would love more Smartwool socks, too.   Ninjas or Pirates? -- Pirates   I have an extra room spray and 2 extra bath oils (one Cephalopod, one Exhibit Hall Fatigue) from Dragon*Con - would anybody like a decant? -- Always up for decants, though nothing there really grabbed me   I live near a Mast General Store. It has lots of vintage-y toys, southern foods (jams, jellies, spices) and vintage candy. Is there anything I can get for you? -- Don't know this place, but would love a pepper jelly, pickles, or preserved fruit (especially if boozy)   Do you have any Fall or Halloween traditions? -- I've started displaying a Halloween tree with little monster ornaments, skeletons, etc. I usually use a branch from outdoors, but would love a tree made of wire to use for this, tabletop size.   a) Are you OK with "special deliveries"? Is the address in your questionnaire the best place to reach you for said deliveries? c) If the delivery requires a phone number (as say, some florists do) would you be OK with that information being tracked down by your Witch or asked of you anonymously? -- Yes to all.   Would you be interested in beer, wine, or other specialty beverages from your Witch's area? -- Yes!   Are there any crafts/skills you've wanted to learn but haven't gotten around to? And if so, would you be interested in supplies and tutorials? -- Yes! Soap-making and candle-making. Oh, and beer-making.   Who here would be happy to get a lil' sumthin sumthin from Adagio Teas? -- Sure, I love tea!   Do you Ravelry? And if so, what's your handle over there? Would you be interested in gift patterns from your queue? -- I'm momesq on Ravelry. Would love gift patterns, though I already own some in my queue. Would also love suggested patterns based on the things I've queued or favorited.   Who likes Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses? -- Never tried them!   Put your iPod/MP3 player/what-have-you on random and list the first 10 songs it plays! -- 1. Lianne La Havas, Age 2. k.d. lang, The Air That I Breathe 3. Steely Dan, Aja 4. David Bowie, Aladdin Sane 5. Elvis Costello, Alison 6. Nirvana, All Apologies 7. Paul Simon, All Around The World or The Myth of Fingerprints 8. Geoff Muldaur & the Texas Sheiks, All By Myself 9. The Psychedelic Furs, All That Money Wants 10. David Bowie, All The Young Dudes   Witchee, what are your favorite quotes? -- "In life I know there is lots of grief, but your love is my relief" from Bob Marley is one I like a lot.   What's one random thing you really like and one random thing you really dislike? -- Really like decorative paper clips and binder clips, for some odd reason. Really dislike processed cheese.   Are there any herbs that you haven't been able to lay hands on that I could send you? There's an herbal shop I really like here in NYC called Flower Powerthat has quite a wide selection. -- Off the top of my head, no, but would love to try unusual stuff.   If there are no "witchy" shops near you, is there anything I can pick up for you from Enchantments? -- I am in need of a proper cauldron and athame, though since these are such personal items, it's a lot to ask. In search of a small statue of Bast, and would love some "getting started with carved candles" supplies.   Some of your favorite artists? Classic and modern? -- symbolist, art nouveau, surrealist   If you could have an image or certain subject painted for you on any type of "canvas" (on a box, on paper, on a canvas, and so on) - could you point your witch to some of these images? -- Tiffany Dragonfly, peacock anything   Is there a GC scent that's been on your list for ages but keeps falling off the bottom of your order because of the LEs? -- I think I'm pretty caught up on GCs right now.   I've been getting into indie nail polish brands recently. What's your favorite indie brand of nail polish? Or what's your favorite mainstream brand of nail polish? Or are you not big on polish? -- Love polish, don't know many indie brands and very open to exploring. I like Zoya a lot, Illamasqua, and things with lots of glitter, like OPI Teenage Dream and Rainbow Connection. Would love something with lots of glitter in peacock colors.]   Stuffed things: yea or nay? -- Our house is already overstuffed with things, sadly, so will say no.   mix-in-a-jar? How to you feel about cookie or cake or soup mixes that come in jars and you just add, like, an egg or water or what have you? -- Sounds great.   I live near this very cool Retro store (you can order online too) - are there things from it that would make you squee if your witch sent them? -- I love retro cherry prints on everything. Would love a retro cherry print apron! Or dress! Also love those oilcloth tablecloths/placemats with the big splashy prints.   9/16 Would you enjoy receiving cute but useful items like colorful kitchen utensils/gadgets, or bento supplies? (boxes, chopsticks, accessories, etc?) What about things like spice mixes (homemade, or Penzey's for example) -- Absolutely love all of the above.   Do you like cute, seasonal or fluffy PJ bottoms? Like they sell at Target, Old Navy (they have had cute Halloween ones!) If so, what size do you wear? -- yes I am! size S.   What kind of chocolate do you like? Nuts, no nuts, white, dark, etc? -- Dark and good quality milk (i.e. does not taste like wax). Not a big white fan, though it goes well with raspberry. I like nuts, don't like mint, am tolerant of fruit fillings, and go absolutely crazy for caramel, especially salted caramel. Open to weird things like spice and herbs and bacon and what have you.   I live near a Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Penzeys! What does your little heart desire from any or all of these places? -- WF not too much, since I have one right by me that I rarely go to, though I like their salted Japanese plums. TJ's I adore their fleur de sel caramels, their beef jerky, and the chili-spiced pineapple and mango. Penzey's, oh man, everything! I could use some culinary lavender and some good tarragon right now.   Are home made foods acceptable or does the idea of eating strange mailed food disturb you? -- very little food disturbs me! I just gave you $20 and sent you into a "has everything" store ala Walmart and told you that you have to come out having spent it all, and none of it on anything you need. What would you buy? Be as specific as possible! -- Wet 'n' Wild eyeshadow palettes, Revlon balm stains, Milani eye pencils, black licorice, Sweettarts (regular and chewy), small notebooks   What kind of cuisines do you like? (I mentioned this in my ?aire but curious what my witch may like)And, what are your favorite restaurants? -- Top cuisines I love are Japanese, Thai, Middle Eastern, Mexican, French. I like small local restaurants.   I'm from Canada - is there anything specifically a witchee might like that is only available here? -- Our household is half Canadian so we enjoy many Canadian treats. We love Crunchie bars from Canada, and believe they are better than the UK ones. I'm always looking for makeup we can't get here either.   what are your "fandoms" and would you like a t-shirt from TeeFury if an appropriate one came up? -- Not really a fandom kind of person. I do enjoy Dr. Horrible, Aardman, and have a fixation on A Midsummer Night's Dream, not that I expect many Midsummer t-shirts.   Do you have an eReader and if so which one? -- Kindle and iPad. I use the iPad mostly.   Do you like candles, or tart burners, or something? If so, what's your favorite scent to burn? -- I do like them, but don't own a tart burner. I don't get to burn candles much (kids, pets, not enough waking hours) but love spicy scents and things I can't wear on my skin but love the smell of, such as woods, pine, etc. Also enjoy florals.   Marzipan? -- Only one of my favorite things ever!   Would you be interested in washable/reusable muslin “paper” towels (basically muslin squares hemmed around the edge)? Maybe in some sort of box to put on your kitchen or bathroom counter? -- That sounds very thoughtful, though in practice they'd probably be ignored and/or languish in the wash.   Do you drink alcohol and if so, would you be OK with your witch sending you homemade infused vodka? Also, does your state allow alcohol to be shipped through the mail? -- That sounds delicious. I think NY allows this, but not sure. If you get me (or a fellow Aussie, if there are any playing this round) as a witch or witch's minion, would you like to try some Australian specialties, such as TimTams (delicious chocolately cookies), Caramello Koalas (koala shaped chocolates filled with gloopy caramel), Australian native spices or anything like that? -- Absolutely!   If your witch is a knitter, crocheter or sewer, is there a particular type of garment you would love to receive (hat, scarf, wrap, cowl, socks, fingerless gloves, arm warmers etc)? -- Anything but the arm warmers would be deeply appreciated. I'm a knitter and I know how special handknits are.   Is there anyone else in your house (kids, pets, partner) that would really appreciate a small gift being included for them in the switchwitchy haul so they don't feel left out? -- My kids are huge SW fans (and BPAL fans) and would feel very special to receive something.   Since it's been mentioned several times, and I've also offered to nacho witch some, would you you like to receive wild rice and or maple syrup? I promise to include recipe ideas with the wild rice. -- As I bought 10 lbs. of excellent wild rice not that long ago, I will have to pass, but would love the recipes and the syrup!   I have 5 bushels of tomatoes sitting in the kitchen right now that are supposed to turn into red sauce tomorrow, so would anyone like a basic red sauce (spaghetti sauce) to make its way to them? -- I would love a gift like that.   How would you feel about a taste of (insert witch location here) box -- I like anything tasty, so yes!   Last year, my wonderful witch Alethia adopted a bat for me from batworld.org, a bat rescue and sanctuary. Bat's World Would you be interested in having a bat adopted in your name? -- Those are very thoughtful gifts. I am not a huge animal person, but I could hardly object to that. Bats are very cool creatures.     9/15   Do you like s'mores and s'mores-flavored things? -- Love s'mores! Really, one of the best sugar-laden splurges around. I'm finally installing a gas stove so I can easily make them at home (I like to use dark chocolate). I like s'mores-flavored things as long as they don't taste too artificial, which I notice can happen sometimes.   What's the neatest freebie you've gotten? It can be cool or thoughtful or just totally unexpected, and not limited to BPALdom. -- I was recently at a crafts show with my kids, and my baby was being so utterly charming that an artisan who makes Mission-style woods items (my favorite style) gifted us a beautiful wooden box.

Switch Witch Summer 2013

I am sorry these aren't quite in the right order! I will try to keep up and keep better organized!   Dr. Who? Not my cup of tea. I'm not really into fandoms anyway.   How much do you like lipbalm? Flavored or unflavored? What are your favorite brands and flavors? Not a huge lip balm addict. I like the kind in a tube with an angled applicator that you squeeze. My favorite is Jack Black in Lavender-Vanilla or Lemon-Chamomile. I also like the Korres one. I have it in Wild Rose and would love a lighter color.   Do you like and wear lipgloss? Yes! I tend to like it more pigmented and non-sticky. I'm in love with the super expensive Giorgio Armani, but there are several new drugstore long wear versions I dying to try.   For those of you whose wishlists contain only BPALs, are there any other perfume companies you like or would like to try out? I'm just starting to check out Conjure and very excited. Having mixed success with Arcana and Nocturne Alchemy. Haven't had great luck with Possets, Violette Market, or Solstice Scents. Would like to try Blooddrop, more Carnival Wax, and Villainess.   Your feelings on Adagio teas: If you've never had anything from them, would you be open to trying them? If you HAVE had them and like them, name some favorites blends. And if you had them and dislike them, can you name a few *other* tea companies you're into? I never tried them, but they sound great! I usually get my tea from Upton Tea Co, where my favorites are Earl Grey Blue Flower, some of e Assams, Moroccan Mint, and Baker Street Afternoon Blend. I like black tea, strong and smooth, and I do like some flavors. Like smokey too.   What about coffee? ALL YOUR COFFEE ARE BELONG TO US! I love espresso, lattes, cappuccino. Not a fan of flavored coffee. I like it dark and rich and chocolatey rather than citric. I recently got a Chemex and trying to get a little geekier with my coffee.   Who is your favourite female of all time? Historical, literary, ANYTHING, and why? Hmmmm, that is tough. Fixated as I am lately on A Midsummer Night's Dream, I might say Hermia. She is little and fierce and loyal and brave. She's loving and confused and tries really hard. Or Turtle Wexler from The Westing Game, for similar reasons.   If you were a Disney princess you would be?: I always rather liked Cinderella. She worked hard but wasn't bitter, and her fantasy ball gown was the same as mine when I was about 6. I look more like Merida, though.   If you could have one rare bpal which one would you choose? Antique Lace. I've never even gotten to sniff it, and from everything I've heard, I'd love it. I have decants of Storyville and Pinched With Four Aces, and of those, I think Pinched is slightly better for me. Would also love to test Quincey Morris.   (Feel free not to answer, I know it's not a standard one!) Are you kinky? In theory, yes. In practice, well, I'm sort of out of practice.   Do you enjoy scented candles? Certain sizes that you like? What kind of scents or brands? I do, but I rarely get to burn them because (a) I have little kids and don't love leaving things burning around the house and ( my husband doesn't seem to love room scents the way I do. Types of scents I like best are spicy, herby, and outdoorsy. The type in a glass jar are probably safest, and one of these days I'd love to get a tart burner.   Thoughts about South Africa? Have you been here, would you like to go? Would you like to receive anything South African? I have been entranced by South Africa for decades -- the landscape, the people, the rich history, the art. I would love to visit some day, and would love something South African.   Do you like Sockdreams? If so, what styles would you prefer? (You can also link your wishlist.) Love them! I will always love OTK opaque or lace stockings and actually right now could make good use of some fun mid-calf to knee-length socks.   Do you need hair accessories? If so, what kind or color? I have the worst collection of hair accessories. I have super thick and curly hair, and would love a beautiful barrette, combs, or headband that would work with my hair.   What is your favorite shade of blue? Ooooh, good question. Cobalt, I think, but aqua is pretty close.   Do you have any kitchen gadgets (a SodaStream, a Kuerig/Tassimo) that you want mix things for? I have a SodaStream at home and would enjoy some sugar-free mixes once in a while, especially citrus flavors. I have a Tassimo in the office and especially like having the latte mixes.   If you were to start learning something new (intellectual or craft or hobby), what would it be? I want to learn Spanish. And how to make Amigurumi.   What about candy? Do you have a sweet tooth? I do have a sweet tooth which I try to tamp down so I can watch my carb intake. I love very chewy things like caramels, licorice, gummis, especially if they are salted or sour.   Do you have an e-reader? What kind? Would you like to get ebooks? I use Kindle on my iPad and love love love ebooks.   If your witch is an extremely crafty sort, and she were to send all kinds of homemade foody goodies and handmade crafty stuff - what are items you would NOT LOVE to receive. Please dont hedge on this one...some of us are serious crafters and will be making most of what we send! I would be so honored to receive crafty stuff -- as a knitter myself, I know what goes into it. Let's see, I don't really have a use for things like knit washcloths. I don't have a lot of wallspace to display large pieces, though small ones are great. And my surfaces are so cluttered that tchotchkes won't really find a good home, though practical items like crafted boxes will.   Witchee dear, do you like video games? Are there any you want to play? Do you have a large library? I'm not much of a gamer, I'm afraid.   Do you have something you do, without fail, as a personal daily habit/ritual? (Examples: pen-and-paper journal keeping, tea/coffee drinking, morning yoga, nightly bedtime reading. I'm kind of thinking on things that would be dear to you and might need small supplies or could use certain extras. ) I start every day with a double espresso, either in a latte or a Vietnamese coffee. I end every day with my knitting and often read a bit before bed.   Do you wear nailpolish? What colors do you tend to go for? What are your favorite brands? Are you open to trying indie brands? I love nail polish, and I have a new set of racks to store it on that have many slots left for new ones! I love metallics and duochromes, and I usually wear burgundies, reds, neutrals, greens, golds, and blues. Definitely open to indie brands!   Name three BPAL scents you hav tried, but are dying to get more of. Hmm, I have no self-control, so I usually end up buying whatever I love, but will paw through my decant and imp stash to see what I want more of.   Do you still write real letters on nice stationary to people you like/love? I do! I could especially use stationery that is appropriate for (a) sending birthday greetings and ( sending condolences. Those are the two situations I most often run into.   Have you ever tried anything from Paintbox Soapworks? Which products or scents would you prefer? I love Paintbox Soapworks! I love the square glycerine soaps and the Sorbettos. I really would love some Indian Summer. I tend to like her fruity and herbal scents best.   Do you like/have space to garden? If so, what do you grow? I have a small garden, where I like to grow herbs, tomatoes, and hot peppers. I also have a little chard and kale, strawberries, blueberries, roses, peonies, and hydrangeas.   Do you like sample sized things? Think lipgloss, mascara, bodylotion, scrubs, mini candles, and so forth. I am ridiculously attracted to sample size mini things!   Have you tried Fortune Cookie Soap? What products or scents would you like? Never tried them. They look a little foodie for my taste.   Do you use solid soaps at all? If so, what kind do or don't you like? I use solid soaps almost exclusively. I like most kinds, and find my skin does well with glycerine types that wash off easily, or ones with moisturizer in them. I also like scrubby bits. I especially like citrus and herb scents in the shower.   Have you ever tried Cocoa Pink? If you are curious about it, what looks interesting to you? Never tried! They always strike me as very foodie, and I'm not, but I'm attracted to scents that combine a foodie element with something else, like smoky, earthy, resiny, etc. I wouldn't mind a scrub or conditioner in a scent that fits that description. Also, their Amber White sounds really nice.   Do you like Lush? If so, what is your favorite product that is currently available, also, what is a product that you love but has been discontinued? I have never been a big Lush fan.   Do witches prefer the answers posted here, but a more cherry-picked number of questions answered, or a more exhaustive list posted in the blog, which means posting here much less? I'm going to collect all my witchee's answers in one document, however you do it. I do like having one place to go to make sure I've caught everything, since the topic starts moving so fast and I find it hard to go through pages and pages of answers.   Anyone a fan of Shiro Cosmetics? Any particular products? Eye shadow pigments in general? Never tried them. I do like eyeshadow pigments and could also use some fixing medium to go with.   Are there any companies, products, or items you boycott? I don't think so, at the moment.   As I am in Japan, what sort of things would you like from there? Candy! Cute erasers or other little desk stuff! Anything wasabi-flavored or matcha-flavored! (matcha kit kats, yummm)   Since FB and the FB Gusp group (and the BPAL Sorority which is quiet) have become gathering places...what are some of your favorite Facebook pages you like? Victorian Academy of Magick!   Would you like a seashell from Florida? I would enjoy a pretty shell.   What craft project do you currently have on your docket or that you want to start? And that craft goodies would be welcome? I have a beaded scarf kit for myself I want to knit up. I don't think I'm missing anything for it, though.   Do you read literature/culture blogs or websites of any kind? I'm thinking about anything that would help a putative witch to get a sense of what your current tastes in books, movies, games, genres, approaches to culture and literature and so forth are I read Talking Points Memo for politics, AVClub for TV coverage. I tend to like general interest forums where the same bunch of folks can talk about any old thing. I read The New Yorker in dead tree edition. McSweeney's makes me laugh.   How do you feel about traditional picnics (namely the intimate table for two variety)? Old-fashioned basket or something more utilitarian (cooler/insulated bag)? I enjoy picnics, and don't get to go on as many as I'd really like. We have a classic picnic hamper, but it's kind of awkward and heavy so it gets used more in the backyard than anywhere else. I remember lugging it home from a school picnic and cursing myself for taking it. Mostly we use a wheeled cooler to take to things like outdoor concerts. Not as pretty but it works.   If you were put in a room with 100 random other people the same age and sex as you, from your country, in what way do you think you would be different from the average? Everyone I know is above average, so I wouldn't stand out at all! That's the way things are here in Lake Wobegon.   But seriously, I'm definitely going to be one of the shortest people in the room. I'll be one of only a few natural redheads present. Ditto lefthanders. I'll be talking probably a bit more and faster than others, but mostly to mask the fact that for an apparently extroverted and somewhat dramatic character, I'm actually kinda shy. I will be wearing higher heels than average, probably a touch more makeup and definitely more delicious perfume. I have more than the average number of children per household. I definitely have a higher than average number of educational degrees, since I don't know when to leave well enough alone. I will probably have eaten the largest per capita share of any cured meats in the room.   Haus of Gloi did a Reverie update! Do any of them interest you? (Or anything else up currently?) Haus of Gloi perfumes haven't been great on me, though I do like the custom one I made. I might want to try that again. I would also like to try their scrub and body butter formulas, but would want to stick to a light scent, maybe something lemony.   Witchee, do you cook? Do you do all the cooking? Is it a chore or a pleasure? I love to cook, but unless it's a weekend, it becomes more of a chore. When I do get to cook for pleasure, I like to take over the kitchen and do it all myself, but my husband likes to cook too so we sometimes work in parallel.   Which reading level do you prefer to read in YA or Adult? Or even both? I'm a wide-ranging reader. Even though I mostly read "adult" lit, I do enjoy revisting the YA I loved as a kid, and some of the really good stuff coming out now. Most recent book I read in that category that impressed me was Code Name Verity. Put your mp3 player/online music/itunes/etc on random and list the next 10 songs here: 1. Paper Bird, "Pennies" 2. The Who, "Squeeze Box" 3. Hole, "Gutless" 4. Guns N' Roses, "Out Ta Get Me" 5. Violent Femmes, "Look Like That" 6. Metallica, "Of Wolf and Man" 7. The Fugees, "The Score" 8. Head East, "Never Been Any Reason" (from Dazed & Confused Soundtrack) 9. The White Stripes, "The Union Forever" 10. Dolly Parton, "I'm Gonna Sleep With One Eye Open" I should note that I didn't even realized I owned half this stuff! My husband and I merged our CD collection at some point and ripped them all.   what is your favourite object, that you own, ignoring sentimental reasons for attachment? So I guess something you find beautiful, or fun, or incredibly useful. Well, putting aside the miraculous iPad, I really love this little pink plastic case I have that has dividers inside for storing all my teeny little knitting notions. I also love my pink leather retractable measuring tape.   How big is too big...for something to hang on your walls? If I'm painting you a pretty picture, are there maximum dimensions that you have/prefer? Probably around 18x24. Our house is pretty small and we're running out of wall space!   Gift cards/vouchers - yay or nay? If you like them - which stores would you like one for? Online is best -- BPTP and other of the forum's favorite e-tailers would be great. Also WEBS yarns, Sephora.   Is there anything from Australia you would like? eg: snacks (yes, you can ask for Tim Tams!), books, magazines, memorabilia? I am not that familiar with Things Aussie, so surprise me!   Do you have any problems with swearing or particularly off-color humor? FUCK NO! What style is your sense of humour? Definitely tend to the more verbal/cerebral and dark than the purely physical, but if it's good physical, situational, etc. I love it.   Opinions on table top games, from cards and board games, to dice and rpgs. What do you like? What don't you like? Favorites? Any classics you like? Do you collect any? I especially like games that don't take up a lot of space, like things you can do with a pack of cards and a set of dice, or games that are made up of a special set of cards. I also play Scrabble. Not a collector. What would you like from the most recent BPAL update? What are you planning on buying for yourself and what would you like to try? Nothing screamed instant bottle purchase. I bought a few decants. Is there a literary character you identify with? Even if it's not spot-on, just someone you found yourself having that "I identify with this" feeling? Harriet the Spy, Turtle Wexler from The Westing Game, Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden. Hermia.   What are the three books you most want to read right now, and which you don't already have? I really want a good book on life in the Jewish shtetls around 1900 for something I am working on. It's summer, so would like some fun stuff, like the latest Jennifer Weiner, Shopaholic, etc.   Would you like something from Empire Edibles? (http://www.etsy.com/...s?ref=top_trail) Oh my gawwwwd, I NEED the Earl Grey caramels! And really any of the other caramels can come along for the ride. Is there anything small you try to collect from everywhere you visit? I like to pick up a magnet for my fridge. Witchee, I know that SW isn't about what you get... but could you name one thing you would be heartbroken not to get and one thing you would be a-ok if it didn't make it in your box? (i.e. do you REALLY want perfume oil of some sort, or would you be totally heartbroken if there was no Lush in your box, etc I love being surprised by my Witch, and try to have no specific expectations. I just want contact! You have no idea what even getting an e-card means to me. It's just so lovely to know someone is thinking of me. So, no contact would be disappointing. On the material side, I would be very surprised, but not let down, to not receive anything smelly the whole round, since it is what brings us together. Do you like tarot cards, pendulums and rune stones etc? If so, what type? Very much love Tarot. I am in search of the Art Nouveau/Symbolist art deck I can see in my mind's eye, but am very open to all kinds of decks. I tend to prefer the more detailed kind of illustrations, rather than very abstract, hazy type. I also have a small collection of stones and crystals.   What fandoms do you belong to? None, really. Never been my thing. What cheers you up? Getting snail mail. Who or where would you most want to haunt? Who would you least want to be haunted by? Great question! I would like to haunt something like an old estate with grounds that people visit now as a preserve and museum, because I think the atmosphere would be so conducive to haunting and people would be thrilled by it. It would be a fun way to stay in contact. I would not like to be haunted by a pompous or irritable ghost. That would be incredibly annoying.   What question do you hate to answer? What kind of animal/tree are you -- I just don't think that way. Also the classic "who in history would you most like to have dinner with" is an impossible question to answer.   What is the best compliment you have/could receive? You are a wonderful mother.   Would you like anything from an European country? Any particular food or goodies, magazines, books, whatever would be available to your witch in his/her country. Yes! Food, fashion magazines, makeup, stationery supplies would be my top picks. Do you like bags? If so, what type (rucksack, clutch, shopping bag) colour and would you like/need a new one? I like bags and really need to edit my collection. I'd really like a small bag that is good for going out in the evenings with room for essentials. I usually carry bags that are too heavy and gigantic. What's your favourite comfort food(snack or candy etc) and/or drink? This will sound weird, but I like to cut up a tart apple, slice a hot dry sausage, and have that with a glass of wine if it's evening or a Coke Zero if it's daytime.   Would you be interested in someone writing out for you a favourite recipe, or finding or devising one which they think you'd like? If so, please provide your favourite ingredients, info on how you like to cook/store and use food, and any intolerances - unless all of these are in your questionnaire, or you don't like the idea. (I'm not saying I'd definitely do this, unless someone is keen, and it wouldn't be the only gift). I guess for other witches this might include something like a knitting pattern - not my thing but would you like that? Or indeed would you like a picture created for you (if so what kind) or a story written? (sorry if this feels a bit Spanish Inquisition!) I would love a special recipe, and I think my questionnaire is pretty good on this point. I am a fairly competent cook and like to use whole foods and relatively natural ingredients rather than prepackaged stuff. But also would be delighted with a knitting pattern, original story, or original art. I'd be honored, actually, to receive it. If you knew you were going to live comfortably for say 800 years, what profession, calling or project might you pursue with some of your extra years, which you imagine you may not do in the life that you have? I'm on the verge of pursuing a new career, so I would like to say teaching and writing.   Is there any thing - an object, a donation on your behalf, some research done for you, whatever - that your witch could do about this that you would like? And if you can't think of a present, would you rather she/he (I!) didn't either and confined themselves to things you are already involved in? I'm about to embark on a new writing project that will need research, but right now it's hard for me to be very specific about what I'd need looked at. What colors/style is your kitchen decor? And do you entertain in your home? My kitchen is cream and a soft green, sort of 50s retro colors to match the age of the house. Lots of wood too. We do entertain quite a bit.   Are your ears pierced? Yes.   Do you like stuffies/stuffed animals/art doll type thingies? If so, any particular type you'd love to get? Sadly I have little room for this, but do love peacocks of any kind.   Switch Witch is, of course, all about you.....but if your Witch was so inclined, are there wee little ones in your home that will get jealous and are just too young to understand why you won't share the love, who maybe need a touch of Witchee love all their own, to distract them while you hide all your lovelies?!? I do have three boys (see my Q'aire) who would love to be included, though definitely not required. After all, this is all about ME ME ME. My oldest boy is actually a BPAL fan.   Is there a Quote that resonates with you, or that you particularly like a lot. Would this be something you would like artwork made of for your walls or a shirt/bag/scarf? I've always liked the Bob Marley line "In life I know there is lots of grief but your love is my relief." I don't know that I want to display that boldly, but on something small and personal I would love it.   Also, STARBUCKS, Yay or Nay? Anything you particularly like? Yay! I drink a lot of latte, espresso, macchiato, and chai.   Is there someone on the forums (within SW or not) who knows you really well and might be able to help with stalking? Yes, holborne is my IRL BFF so she knows all and is really good at keeping a secret too. She will totally not reveal and will probably even help you trick me. Babypopje and Stella Luna witched me in previous rounds and I bet they can help too.   If you happen to find out who yours is, how much would it bother you? it will feel a little anticlimactic, but won't really bother me.   Do you use waxmelts or tarts? If so, which ones do you prefer? I never have but wouldn't mind starting.   Do you enjoy drinking hot chocolate, and would you like stuff to make it with, or to add to it? I have hot chocolate only once or twice a year, but I love the spicy kind.   Have you ever tried Spoonfudge? Would you enjoy it if your Witch would send you some? Which of the flavors would you like? I've never heard of it! Sounds dangerous. I do try to avoid too much in the way of sweets, but I have lots of people at home willing to help.   What's your opinion on Moonalisa? Any favorites or products you'd like to try? I've never tried Moonalisa because I loathe flash sale/competitive shopping and can't get into all the work you have to do to get in on her releases. So if someone wants to do the work for me, great, but I'm not going to start.   Are there any BPALs that you loved the idea of, the imagery - whether artwork or description - but which didn't work out for you? (I'm asking because if they did, you might mention them elsewhere, but if not, the imagery might be helpful) Not in terms of artwork, because with my aging eyes I can barely even read the labels. I am CONSTANTLY taken in by the scent descriptions, but I just find that certain notes make a blend something I can't wear. Examples: I love scent descriptions that talk about greenery and earth, but in real life, very green scents and dirt scents make me smell moldy. Do you have any symbols or totems that are meaningful to you? Peacocks! I'm not even sure exactly what they mean to me, but I am very drawn to them, to the point I got a big peacock feather tattooed on my abdomen last summer. I feel much the same way about fireflies and dragonflies.   When you are having a really rough day, what do you like to do/have to make it a little brighter? After some solid cuddles with my three boys, I like to sit down with a book or magazine (on my back deck if it's a nice evening) and enjoy a glass of wine or cocktail. Would you like if your witch sent a regional pop/soda? If so, what type (Root beer, creme soda, cola, citrus-flavored, chocolate-flavored, etc...)? I love soda, and don't drink it much anymore due to (a) sugar and ( possibly even worse artificial sweeteners. So I'd love something special to savor! I love root beer/birch beer, cream soda, black cherry soda, and spicy ginger ale/ginger beer. Or surprise me!   Ninjas or Pirates? Werewolves or vampires? Zombie or Cthulhu? Of all those, Pirates. Zombies gross me out, and the rest leave me cold. Vampires are the least annoying, unless they're the kind teenagers like.   Do you want to receive one big package or a bunch of small ones? Digital stuff all at the end when the box should arrive or as we go? I like them sprinkled, and there is some little kid in me that wants a reveal package at the end I can hold in my hands.   Do you welcome knitted items? If so, what would you like most? (amigurumi, washcloth, socks, shawl, shawlette, scarf, wrist warmers, hat, etc.) Do you have any favorite fibers? How about any fiber allergies? Favorite color for knitted items? I am a knitter myself, so I would absolutely love some of my Witch's handiwork. Would especially love socks or a hat. I like variegated yarns, no real fiber preferences. My colors tend to be jewel colors with black, and especially purples and teals.   Do you have any long trips coming up? If so, could you use things to occupy yourself? I think we'll be heading from Long Island to Boston by car this summer, so that will be a decent length trip. I will definitely bring my current knitting project (whatever that may be at the time) and wouldn't mind having some good vacation reading for my Kindle app on the iPad. I'm thinking good genre stuff like detective fiction, maybe some true crime, and that's when I like to catch up on the better comic novels about women and relationships.   I'm going to Jungle Jim's next week (it's basically a massive international food gasm in Ohio, look it up); would anything interest you?Did you say food?? Hot sauces, spices, and wacky-flavored potato chips are always welcome.   Name three things that you could use, but might not necessarily think to get for yourself? A new (inexpensive) fountain pen, novelty socks, a cute iPhone case   Does anything from the TP Etsy update interest you? I think I'm good for now on that stuff, though there are some TP GCs I would love (I have a wishlist on the site).   I just found out Oreo is launching ones with watermelon flavor in the USA only. Is it something you would enjoy? Dear god, no. Why would anyone want to ruin a perfectly good Oreo with fake watermelon flavoring?   What are the three BPALs you would most like to receive - one GC, one not-hard to find LE, and one HTF LE from your dreams? GC--Depraved, Alice, or Carnal (probably in that order). LE--Delight & Consternation (took a pass on a full bottle). HTF--Antique Lace, Pinched With Four Aces.   If you don't consider yourself in a "fandom" (and I get that ... I don't really go overboard on my liking of any TV show/Movie/etc), are there any TV shows or Movies that you really like and/or watch regularly or any actors/actresses you wouldn't leave standing in the rain (unless you like looking at them sopping wet, in which case ... well, nevermind)? I kind of have a thing for the entire cast of Oz, and I seem to lap up anything Timothy Olyphant or Jason Isaacs is in.   So, dear witchee, would you like some Tw*twaffle soap or scent or lotion? I have a soap sample which I haven't yet tried. I think it's probably a little foodier than I generally go for.   Has anyone asked about tattoos? Do you love them? Hate them? Have any? Want any? I love high quality tattoos. I have two -- a crescent moon in a night sky that has my sister's profile, and a full-color peacock feather. My next is in the planning stage -- clusters of cherry blossoms I'm going to have sprinkled all over my body.   If you knit/crochet, what sizes of needles do you need? I knit. I could use smaller sizes of DPNs, but will have to check stash to see exactly what.   What styles of artwork do you like? Many types! I grew up with an artist grandpa who exposed me to centuries of art. I have a special fondness for work from the Symbolists through the Art Nouveau, plus Arts & Crafts design.   If you cook, would you be interested in-hand made spice mixes/rubs? That sounds great!   Would you like mexican vanilla or silver rings/necklaces? MEXICAN VANILLA! ALL FOR ME ME ME!!!   The Conjure Oils update (http://conjureoils.com/emporium.htm) looks absolutely fabulous...I didn't know she made soaps and candles and whanot. Is there anything from the Oddment Emporium you would like? Most of these seem to have at least one note that makes it less appealing. However, I'd really like to try Voluptuary (despite red musk), Fire Dragon Parasol, and Heliophobe.   What is your favorite color? Peacock blue-green, if forced to choose just one. But I also am very drawn to bright pink. What is your favorite season? Summer, but I find spring exquisite and fall fulfilling too.   If you could live anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would it be? I'd divide my time between Bali and Paris.   I live near the Brown and Haley outlet - makers of Almond Roca and Mountain Bars - would you want anything from the outlet? For nut-haters, they have nutless Roca For the no-sugar folks they have sugar-free as well. I would love to try the no-sugar options.   I also have an Oberto jerky outlet local to me - any wants there? I sort of ridiculously love jerky, especially spicy or teriyaki flavor. It's a good snack for the lowcarbing.   How do you feel about home-canned goods? If you know what you're doing, I'm delighted to try. I've made green tomato chutney myself and nobody died, so if I can do it, you can do it! Would love fruits, pickles, or jams especially.   Do you like BPTP clothing? Do you know, I've never tried any. What size do you wear of:   Baby-doll T's Regular T's yoga pants I'm betting M in the baby-dolls because I hear they run small (and that's my preferred type of T-shirt) and S in the other stuff.   Also, what is your favorite lunacy (or non-lunacy) T-shirt that you don't already own? I don't have any! I loved the artwork for Weeping Branches Moon and Oak Moon especially, and I would KILL for Molly Crabapple or OLOP. Or other clothes from BPTP? The T-shirts grab me more than anything else.   What else do you love from the Trading Post site, and need to have? I have a wishlist there under gateau that expresses my hopes and dreams!   Is there a particular movie genre that you like (Fantasy? Drama? Romantic Comedy? Musicals? TV-Series, etc), and what format would you prefer: DVD, Blu-Ray, or something in the cloud (like Amazon, iTunes, Flixster, etc)? I like sexy thrillers (why don't they make these so much anymore) and non-romantic, non-gross out comedies the most. Two classics I adore that express it well: Tootsie and 9 to 5. Also love TV series, but doing a good job on killing those via Netflix. Amazon is an easy one for me to use for cloud services because I can easily watch via Tivo. DVD or Blu-Ray both good.   -Following up on the Adagio question from earlier, what are you top five wishes, for teas and blends? I've never really looked at Adagio. I like black tea with something smoky, vanilla, and spice.   -Do you have anything that you do ritually, every summer? Visit one of my oldest friends with another oldest friend and spend the weekend by the pool drinking a vast ocean of Dark N Stormys, and eating. Also going to Tanglewood to watch the fireworks.   -What are your top five wishes from ThinkGeek? Haven't combed through the site in a long time, but I like clever desk items -- post its, note pads, pens, paper clip holders, erasers, that sort of thing.   -Seen anything lately that makes you go OH HOLY FUCK THAT'S AWESOME!! ? Cherry blossom colored ink at Jet Pens. Also that Neil Patrick Harris will be starring in a revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, my favorite show, but there isn't much you can do about that for me.   Do you like audiobooks? If so, do you have/would you like to try Audible? (I'm an addict, myself.) I am not a big listener to audiobooks, but the ones I've done I've loved. The problem is I listen while driving, find my mind wandering, and then have trouble getting back to my place. But I'd love to try again for reading while knitting. I love a good ripping yarn with lots of good voice characterizations. Two I loved were Rumpole of the Bailey stories and Tim Curry reading Anne Rice. I don't usually love Anne Rice, but he did it so well.   Chocolate: Love? Hate? Allergic? If love, what are your faves? Not a chocolate addict, but I like it a lot. I like dark or rich milk, and adore caramels. The addition of chili spice or salt is always loved, and I like nuts.   I know Canadian chips can be different than others, how does "dill pickle" or "ketchup" sound? I love love love crazy potato chips. My MIL (who lives in Vancouver) often brings bags of things like Lamb and Mint Chutney chips. As for the classic Canadian types, I prefer dill pickle to ketchup. Salt & Vinegar is a big favorite.   If you were getting a custom Haus of Gloi blend, what four notes would you choose? Summer notes listed here and you can click through to the whole list from there. This was mine but I'll answer anyway. Something like: anise, white vanilla sugar, white amber, and a bit of something, I don't know, maybe musky or woody.   QUESTION! Do you like Kickstarter? Are there any projects up that you really like? I've supported a few, but I don't generally browse there, I have to hear about it from another source.   QUESTION! If you have an Etsy wishlist, what are your top 5 favorite things on there? The price is unimportant, not because I'm rich, but because I'd like some inspiration. In no particular order: peacock iPhone case, mask necklace, initial necklace with charms for each of my kids, laser-cut peacock feather leather cuff bracelet, twin buckle wide belt or corset belt.   Festival this week -- includes an "encampment" and an art faire. any interest in trinkety things from the encampment or cards/prints from local artists I love charms and dangly arty earrings   How do you feel about glitter? does loose glitter make your skin crawl or would you bathe in it? I love glitter! Bring it on! Just don't make it explode all over my house.   Do you want/need/like/collect journals? If so, do you prefer lined or unlined? I love them! I tend to save them instead of using them up, but I love to hoard them. Lined best if larger, but little ones can be either.   Does the idea of wearing a plant as jewelery give you the warm fuzzies or the heebie jeebies? Sounds lovely but I will kill it and that would be sad.   Gourmet popcorn, yes/no? What do you like: glazed, savory, candied? Nuts or not? Any flavors you wouldn't like (like Bacon CHeeseburger, Pizza, Watermelon, Root Beer Float, Hot Chili Dark Chocolate)? Or if any of those sounded interesting, how weird is weird enough? Love anything salty-sweet, like salted caramel, with nuts, etc. The ones you list don't sound good to me, except for Hot Chili Dark Chocolate.   Question: I make my own hair gloss, would you like some detangling and very shiny hair gloss made by me? This is a 'cone rich blend, not the least bit natural. Sadly, I avoid 'cones.
