basic everyday belief system revolves around equality for everyone regardless of race, orientation, gender, etc. Animal rights and protection agencies like Fixed Fur Life, The Paw Project and the Humane Society. Cancer, Parkinson's and heart disease research/care and treatment charities since I love people who suffer with/have died from those afflictions. Traumatic Brain Injury awareness and prevention, research etc as the boy has post concussion syndrome. TL;DR let's not be dicks to each other and not kill off our planet and all of its species in the process.

Favorite BPAL oils: elf v4, Tombeur, Beaver Moon 2011, Sin, Chimera, Unfortunate Shopping Cart, Black Lace, Snake Charmer (orig), Snake Oil, Tintagel, Dorian, Baku, goblin, the Light of Men's Lives, mysterious warning.

 

Favorite notes: lavender, vanilla, myrrh, resins, frankincense, blackberry, currant, berries, wine, chocolate, black musk, pretty much all musk, patchouli, blood and some woods.

 

Favorite non-BPAL perfumes: I like Haunt Winchester, some of the Violette Market and Nokturnal Alchemy scents I've tried have been nice, but I haven't looked much outside BPAL. Ralph Lauren Romance is on old fave.

 

Least favorite notes: ROSE. JASMINE. MAGNOLIA. CARNATION. Basically, really heady florals are awful and headache inducing. Even violet, geranium, etc don't really work. I love vanilla but the super foodie ones are plastic (oh hai there Snow White, boo, midway, etc). Aquatics are pretty much migraine territory along with ozones (ambergris is nice in the background) and snow is iffy (so far yellow snowballs is the only one to work on me).

 

Least favorite non-BPAL perfumes: anything currently hawked by kardashians or other pop stars of the moment that stink like fake candy musk. Yuck.

 

If Beth made a custom blend for you, what would the notes be, and what would you want the label art to look like? It would smell of lavender buds, blackberry, sweet beeswax with myrrh and vanilla mixed in. Label art would be my slinky black cat Atticus, a well loved book and my down blanket.

Style/home decoration style: thrift shop/bohemian mixed in with the odd quality antique piece. I'm a lover of modern design in kitchens only, I really like living rooms to have an old, worn in feel (lots of wood, lots of books, lots of pillows). I love colour in accents, dark stained wooden floors, big windows with lots of light.

Gimme all the good comics like Captain Marvel form Kelly Sue DeConnick, her Pretty Deadly (I haven't tried the BPAL oils yet, but if you have - read the book, its AMAZING), Hawkeye from her hubby Matt Fraction, Saga by Brian K. Vaughan, Lumber Janes - ack, I could go on forever.

 

Least favorite authors/genres: Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey. Anything that falls into similar realms, I'm out.

 

Books/authors you'd like to read, but haven't yet: I'm kind out of the loop - I have a ton of new stuff downloaded to my iPad like Gone Girl, Annihilation, Fangirl, Game of Thrones series, etc that I haven't had time to read yet. I'm a huge lover of fiction though, dear witch, I'll try to read anything. Seriously. OH! Vonnegut, always wanted to try his stuff.

Let's go with some basics, I guess - Winners (Marshall's/TJ maxx in the US, I think) as I love good prices and different stuff, Urban Outfitters, Hot Topic (for all my geeky Marvel/comic clothing and accessories), the Disney Store, HMV, Lush, Bath and Body Works, Victoria Secret, Lulu Lemon, H&M.

Allergies (specifically B&B related): sometimes perfume oils with cinnamon can burn but its really only after applying immediately after showering. I am prone to breakouts so I'm pretty fussy about what I use on my face, but body stuff I don't have any specific allergies/issues.

Tub, shower or both? BOTH. I love them equally. I would shower/bath five times a day if it wasn't such an awful waste of water.

Do you have any allergies to metal? Yes. I wear costume stuff but it does make me break out in rashes or turns my skin green/black. I don't mind, only wear it for a few hours. Nose stuff however, super sensitive. Only gold or titanium - everything else causes major infection.

I think Steampunk is really cool but I have no real knowledge about it. Anything would be neat I guess!

2. I currently have a CSA and my significant other is perpetually out of town for work, so I've been doing a lot of canning and baking with my vegetables. How do people feel about canned good (pickles, salsa, etc) and vegetal baked goods (squash bread, zucchini bread).

I make pickles and my mother jars everything else under the sun (srsly, I'm still trying to finish off her peach mango salsa from last year) so I'm going to say no, UNLESS it's jam. Then you can mail me all the raspberry/strawberry/rhubarb/blueberry fruitastic goodness. As for baking - if you think it can survive the journey to Canada (and Canada Post) I's any kind of bread is a plus.

ALL THE HAIR GLOSS. That stuff is amazing. I'm really into trying any amount of Snake Oil hair gloss or bath oil. I've never tried the BPTP soap before so that would be cool. I love goblin squirts for atmosphere sprays and my current loves are: erebos (huge insomniac here), exotic bazaar, and unspeakably evil temple. But I'm game to try anything. I LOVE coffee. I have a tassimo and would happily take t-discs for it. I enjoy tea as well but refer loose leaf stuff like teavana.

I love artwork, drawings, paintings, homemade comics etc - it's all good. I love to write and I play around with sketching/painting.

 

8. What culture or country (doesn’t have to be modern) do you feel an innate connection with? What about it makes it special to you?

I'm Canadian, so my country's quite young in comparison to many others out there, so I tend to love reading/discovering about ancient times. Really no personal preference to the country itself, but when you can enter the ruins of say a temple that was built thousands of years ago - that fascinates me. Ancient China or Egypt or Rome or whatever.

 

9. Is there any sort of art commission you would like: cartoony, pin-up, fantasy, realistic, etc? If so, what subject would you like drawn (a picture of you, a character, a loved one or pet)?

I would love to have someone tackle my favourite Comic Book characters. My guy painted me an amazing Wonder Women, but she's lonely looking on my wall. I adore Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), Jenny Sparks, Emma Frost, The Bat Villains (Harley and Mr. J especially), Death, Dream and Delerium from Sandman, Constantine...

Reading, writing, movies, traveling, eating out, good conversation with great friends, wine.

I love funky chocolate bars, penny candies, mints (there was this AMAZING kind of mints that I received from ReallyZeb I think in a candy swap that I still need to try and locate more off), licorice, tim tams, etc. (If any SW is looking for some Canadian Candy - ketchup seasoning for popcorn/chips, maple candies, laura secord, etc let me know!)

I LOVE all things pop culture but tend to avoid fandom since it can be a scary place. I do have in my letter all my fav shows/movies/books/comics/things I flail over.

basically, whatever my Witch is comfortable with is fine with me. I love being emailed and snail mailed and trick mailed by nacho witches and all that jazz but if you're more laid back, or shy, or not into it - don't worry dear witch. That's cool with me.

 

18. Do you like puzzles/riddles/treasure hunts and that sort of thing?

I love puzzle video games like Professor Layton or escape from the locked room thing. I don't like actual puzzles though. Treasure hunts are awesome!

Digital, as I have no cd player and my laptop doesn't have an optical drive.

I love apples in food and in smells! Just not perfume - so far. It usually ends up like potpourri/yankee candle on me. I haven't found an apple dominant blend I love yet.

It's covered in my questionnaire for skin issues, but fabric-wise wool is a no go for me, I itch like crazy

Sure! I love ornaments. My tree is covered with kitschy and classic - I have the old handcrafted wooden ones, and stuff like James Dean and Dracula. I'm not one who has to have her tree follow a theme or match a decor.

I do like poetry! I'm kinda all over the place with favourites: Sylvia Plath, Tennyson, Robert Graves, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Robert Browning, Emily Bronte, Walt Whitman, Christina Rosetti, Baudelaire, Paul Verlaine etc. I tend to collect bits and pieces of verse vs entire collections from poets - sometimes it's only one poem or even a line or two.

I read a lot on my iPad but I find I still prefer holding a book in my hands - the feel of the paper, the smell, the sound of the pages turning, etc. I still like ebooks though.

I WOULD LOVE SOMEONE TO CREATE SOMETHING BASED ON THE NICK DRAKE QUOTE I POSTED ABOVE. I've trying FOREVER to figure out how to make a tattoo design inspired by that quote.

I love geek chic cosmetics! Though, unless you're in Canada don't send me nail polish. It's a prohibited item to mail. I like all eye colours except black or red shadows (I'm paaaallleeee), love gloss of any kind but lipstick is not my friend.

46. How do you feel about profanity and off-color humor?

It's what gets me through the day. I think I've probably said fuck more times than any other word. Ever. Sarcasm is therapy for me, as is laughter. Off-colour humour is fine, as long as it's not at the expense of someone else.

Sticks fall out of my hair sadly. I have the finest, straightest hair.

I love OPI, China Glaze and Zoya best. Never used indies (shipping issues, see above) and I love grit and glitter.

OH YES! I love me some plushies.

OMFG ANYTHING!! I also LOVE Sailor Moon (hint, hint).

Oh man, I am so bad for that. I missed out on Tintagel for that very reason. Right now I'd say: Haunted, White Rabbit, Crowley and Bordello.

Bath Bombs are my jam, yo. The Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar is a staple in my home. I also love their foot powder.

 

56. Is there anywhere (in the US) that you are dying to get away to? Also when would you be able to get away. Would this even be something you were interested in? If so, go look at the Southwest sale for routes and dates and times.

Sounds very generous, but I'm heading into the busiest time of my work year and I won't have any time off once we hit Mid october until February of next year.

ALL THE TEES! I love Teefury and RIPTapparel. Tissue tees and babydolls preferred over normal crew tees. Large normally unless it runs small than got to XL.

Yes! Zombies freak me out. But I still read/watch anything about them.

I like both! Full sleeves or just past wrist.

Cats especially. Domestic cats to big cats, I love them all I also love fennec foxes, red foxes and wolves.

OMG YUUSS! I adore the Queen is Dead soap. I've never tried any of tarty's other creations - I would love to try her sorbettos but any kind of soap is good.

63. How would you feel if your witch or a minion of your witch showed up in person at your house with goodies? Thrilled? Annoyed? Completely creeped out?

I'm rarely home, and tbh it would be a little strange. Can't leave anything on my doorstep either as I'm in an apartment building and it would get stolen in a heartbeat.

I'm still, STILL trying to teach myself. Witch, you got any secrets to knitting or links to helpful videos please feel free to share. No supplies though, because I've barely touched the yarn I already have.

You know, I've never even looked at their site. Upon browsing, I do like their footie socks and anklets and midcalves and I'm all about bright colours and funky patterns. Please no knee high or thigh highs though over the knee might work. I really like these.

66. Knitted items like scarves, shawls, dishclothes....yay or nay? Favorite fibers? Favorite colors?

SURE! I live for scarves, shawls not so much and I have a ton of dishclothes already. Fibres, merino or softer, non-scratchy yarn. I would love a chocolate brown scarf or something to go with this parka I own or I would love an HP themed scarf (any house but Hufflepuff). I you want to surprise me with a cool design or colour scheme go for it.

67. Is your Amazon WL up-to-date?

I actually refuse to shop at amazon after I had a horrible customer service experience there over 2 years ago, so sorry I don't have a WL for that site (not that I would be upset to receive something purchased from there, they have good pricing and free shipping, so I completely get why people love them). I do have my etsy wishlist in my blog and I will be adding somethings to it of all different kinds/prices to help out my Witch for some ideas if they're struggling.

68. If you were to receive handmade caramels, would it matter if they were made with raw cream (unpasteurized)? nope

 

69. Would you enjoy getting a sampling of quality incense taken from various sources? Are there types of incense you know you don't like? Would you want a burner for loose incense and a few charcoals to get you started with that, or would you rather stick to simpler types?

I've only ever experience the cheap ones on a stick that gave me raging headaches so I have no idea if I'd like incense at all. And the boy is smell sensitive so it probably wouldn't get used much, sorry.

I love cooking so spice away! All kinds, even kitchen spice staples are welcome/

Sure, handmade stuff is welcome. Quill pen, probably no.

pretty solid 5. I like heat, in average doses.

 

73. What is your favorite type of Halloween candy?

All of it. No joke. Especially though, anything chocolate and peanut butter or kisses (chewy molasses candies, not the hershey chocolate things) or rockets.

74. Do you need or want any cosy footwear, like fluffy slippers, or slipper socks etc?

SLIPPERS. I LOVE SLIPPERS. Knitted ones, oversized stuffed animals, whatevers. It's cold where I am.

75. What do you most look forward to each Fall?

First and best - the scents in the air. If you've never smelled the air on a crisp morning in northern Ontario - maples leaves, and smoke from chimney's and ack - it's amazing. Secondly, I loathe humidity and where I live, it's lovely in the Summer, except for the awful layer of mugginess you carry with you. Ugh. I much prefer the way the air cools and the breeze picks up and the early Autumn thunderstorms that occur nightly for a few weeks. And well - sights like this are amazing.

76. What gadgets do you use in your everyday life and would you like a cool case for them - with your favourite fandom or artwork or saying?

I just got a Galaxy S5 and would love a cool fandom inspired case!

77. Are there any beauty accessories you need or would like? For example make-up brushes, facial brushes or eyelash curlers.

I'm useless with a eyelash curler and I have a really good set of brushes, so I'm good thank you.

78. Would you be disappointed to get one big box, or would you prefer a bunch of little ones? And would you be disappointed if your witch actually had it together early and sent it to you sooner than later?

I'm good with what ever is good (and affordable) for my witch. Shipping to Canada is not cheap, so you do what works for you, dear Witch.

PJ PANTS ALL THE WAY. I live in comfy pants. Cotton is great (flannel too hot for me) and I prefer it loose and comfy - L/XL please.

But of course. Peanut and Peanut butter are my faves. Anything but plain really.

No thank you. I have buckets of scentsy I'm not using so I really have no use for wax tarts either.

We JUST got spotify in Canada (actually it's still not available for everyone, beta site still) so I don't think that would work here yet - but it's a great idea. I love it so far. Kicks songza's ass really.

They're really cute but I don't use sugar in my coffee or tea so it would be a waste I'm afraid.

LIP BALMS. ALL THE TIME. My skin is temperamental, and I've got vats of body butters but I can always use lip balm. Anything from burts bees to Haunt's lip lusts to anything on etsy or if you love a brand and you think I'll dig it please send. I do like more natural things over say, blistex though.

86. Is there anything you would like from Salem MA (mugs, keychains, postcards, etc.or witchy supplies like incense, candles, books)?

Ooh, I love magnets for little souvenirs or a candle would be cool.

I'm a huge beer/cider/wine lover. I prefer microbreweries or imports and books on mixing are always welcome. I have a lot of gadgetry already though. Pint glasses are always welcome, if you can find affordable shipping.
