I like them just fine, but do not have a burning desire to have any currently. We make brownies and cake and stuff fairly regularly at my house.

Paintbox Soapworks - anything you're interested in, in general or from the latest update?

 

I've never tried any Paintbox products. But I would totally try some! I like the looks of: Gingermilk, The Olive Tree, The Man In The Moon, Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh, Sweet Cheeks, Indian Summer and The Queen is Dead (I am uncertain about the leather/smoke notes, but it sounds intriguing!).

YES. I am a HUGE hockey fan, and I follow the Carolina Hurricanes relentlessly.

How did you dress up for your last party or compulsory-formal-dress occasion?

 

My best friend's wedding. I had this knee-length black chiffon skirt with an ivory embroidered detailing, an ivory sweater with pearl buttons (it was in December), strappy black heels, pearls, classic makeup (red lip, smoky eye), curled hair. It was kind of epic.

Oh! I just remembered! More recently was Laurel the Woodfairy's wedding. I wore a brown/ivory/coral floral print dress (flutter sleeves, mid-calf-length, wrap bodice) with pearls, brown leather sandals, and soft gold-brown eyes and a coral lip.

Hearts, celestial things, swirls, that kind of filigree look with the curls and stuff, birds, feathers, watercolor designs...if that makes sense? I like a lot of abstract designs.

I tend to hoard coffee mugs, especially if they're really pretty or have quotes or something. My FAVORITE mug is this cheap travel mug I got at Walmart, because you can change out the internal liner so there are infinite possibilities for the design.

 

If you're a tea drinker, is there any specific tea you would like to receive, not just the kind/flavor but also the type/packing--i.e., tea bags, loose tea, compressed, etc?

 

I like any kind of tea. I do not like cherry flavoring so much, or blueberry (in teas at least), but I will try anything, especially floral teas. Black tea with rose? Mmmm.

These days, soap. Wylde Ivy is where it's at for me. I just bought bars of her African Vanilla Bean, Sweet Oat and Nectar soaps. I like soaps that are either warm and sweet and rich or soft florals, because I want them to compliment whatever perfume I'm wearing.

 

How do you like your chocolate? For example with nuts, mint, peanut butter, caramel?

 

If it's chocolate, I will eat it. I like sexy chocolate, like chocolate with spices or lemon or other unusual flavors. Nuts are good, caramel is amazing. I mean, chocolate is chocolate, dude.

I am not allowed to go down that aisle unsupervised in Michaels anymore. I tend to buy things. Oh, beads. Why are you so shiny.

Josephine Wall. I love her artwork. But the plaster that makes the walls in my house doesn't hold things very well.

I like shimmery eyeshadows, peachy-coral blushes, and am on an eternal quest for the perfect lip stain. There are Stila lipstains I'm dying to try.

Sweet, sweet nectar of life. I like any and all coffees and teas. We have a Keurig here, so if you have any interesting k-cups (my favorite is that magical island coconut stuff, my god that stuff is like crack to me) I would love to try them. We do also have a traditional coffeemaker. And teabags, loose tea, whatever. I will drink the hell out of it.

 

Are there any CDs/Albums you've been wanting but haven't bought yet? What format do you prefer? (i.e. mp3, actual cd, record, etc)

 

I want...Armin van Buuren's “Mirage” album because it's awesome. I only have one of Vienna Teng's albums (Warm Strangers) but I want the others, desperately. Mp3s work best. Otherwise I am currently satiated on known musical wants, but I love, love, love new music.

OMG YES. SO MANY. Um...my top three are...The Secret Garden, Miss Saigon, and probably Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. I have been to productions of all of three. SO AMAZING.

I don't usually burn incense because so much of it doesn't actually smell perfumed, it just smells like smoke. If there were incense that smelled like something delicious, I would be down. As for kinds, doesn't matter.

Well, I'm a devotee of Freyja, so Norse mythos is pretty important to me. Fairytales, however...the Snow Queen is my favorite of all time, along with the Wild Swans and the Steadfast Tin Soldier.

I like some webcomics. Questionable Content, xkcd, Narbonic, which is now ended. I have the first two volumes of Narbonic, but not the rest. I'm not really into actual comics-comics that much, but there are a few I've considered reading.

 

Are you musical? Do you play an instrument, and if so, what? If not, what do you wish you could play or do?

 

I sing and have for years! I am a soprano and the one who usually gets picked to sing the really crazy high descants when they occur. I play a tiny bit of piano and I would really like to learn to play the violin.

 

Does anyone garden? And if you do, what do you grow? If not, would a starter garden kit be something you'd be interested in?

 

Yesss! I love to garden! I don't get to grow much because I'm not home during the summers, but I love herbs (especially fragrant/medicinal/culinary ones) and LILIES. I love to grow things from seed in particular.

 

Do you decorate for Halloween? Is your decorating taste elegant, kitschy and fun, or scary?

 

Not really. I do burn some candles for the Samhain aspect of it. I think I probably would if the other people in my house got into it, but they don't. I do love harvest-themed decor though.

From the Weenie Update....what are you most wanting to try?

 

I've requested decants of Ghosts in Love and Le Revenant. I am especially excited about Ghosts In Love.

 

Who's into nail polish? What colors/brands?

 

I like nail polish, but my nails often go unpainted because I work with my hands so much. I think if I had a better manicure kit I'd keep them painted more. I like shimmery, iridescent colors best.

 

Is there a quote (or lyric or part of a poem) that really resonates with you or is your favorite?

 

There's a constantly revolving door in my mind for song lyrics and stuff, but there are two poems that really just bring me to my knees. “Fairytales” by Shu Ting and “Camomile Tea” by Katherine Mansfield. The former has a pair of couplets that I actually used for my calligraphy project (aww, yeah!) in graphic design in high school:

Any of the Yankee Candle foresty blends. The snowy pine smell brings me to my knees.

Harvesty blends...not the foody things, but like, apple smells, pomegranate, leafy smells.

Actually, yes. If I buy any more bottles at all I won't be able to fit them all in the box they're in. I have like...between 20 and 40 bottles, I don't know the exact count. I'd probably just keep the bottles and a handful of imps.
