Wolfenoot 2022 Swap Answers
Lilliths and Weenies - let's see...I'm interested in Oct. 32nd, Apple Macchiato, The Wind Strike Chill and Cold, Torta Setteveli, Bobbing for Zombies, Dead Leaves and Horchata, Lightning Strikes Cinema, and The Necromancer.
Are you interested in having a bag from our shop?
Yes!
Would you be interested in a hand embroidered scarf?
I would love one! I do wear a ton of scarves and handmade touches are always nice.
If you're up for knits or crochet, would you prefer washcloths, headbands, wrist cuffs, fingerless mitts, hats, or a shawlette (wear like scarf except not as long so can't wrap around your neck more than 1-2x.) I could probably find a bunch of the above with moon motifs or for dogs/sneks/birbs/cats to wear.
Washcloths, wrist cuffs, fingerless mitts, or shawlette would be my preference, though I unfortunately can't wear wool - itchy! I don't think my pets would put up with ANY of these things being put on their bodies lol.
Are you interested in an advent calendar? What kind?
Hmmmm. Chocolate is always good. I don't really know what all the options are. (Then this librarian went to do some research and found soooo many cool ones. But most are super $$, unfortunately)
wolfeloot, are you interested in a good karma squishable snow wolf?
Yep, super cute!!
If I were to send a toy from one of my favorite critter toy sources, would you have any preferences? (squeaky/not, plush, chewy, etc.)
There are currently 4 dogs and 2 cats here, ranging in age from 4 mos to geriatric. So any of the above would work. Squeakies are well loved here, but Tevin (our big guy who plays big brother to all the littles) loves to have a "baby" to carry around. This is usually just a stuffie that he hoards and hides from the other dogs.
Little Wolfies - Arcana has dropped Hallowitch stuff and a 15% off deal. Shout out if you see anything you'd love!
I'd be up for Evil Eye, Coven, Sleepy Hollow, Mountain Witch all look interesting
What are your favorite shops to buy fun things (treats, toys, clothes, whatever) for your fuzzy friends?
We spend A LOT of money with Chewy. We also have a local farmer's co-op that sells pet items, so we like to support them too.
Favorite tea brands and flavors?
I spend a lot of time drinking coffee, so sometimes my tea stash doesn't get enough love. When I do drink tea, I really just like to try different kinds. Harney and Sons hot cinnamon is a perennial fave, but I've got a pretty good amount of that.
Would you want a watercolor of your pet? NO promises that it will be amazing- just wanted to ask in case you prefer a different pic for watercolor vs pain
Of course! I'll need to try to upload some pics of these crazy fur children
Dear wolfeloot, are you interested in a microwaveable bowl cozy?
Actually, this is a thing that I always wish I had and can't believe I haven't bought myself yet!
Dear 'loot -- would you like a 2023 wall calendar (or other type?) What kind?
Sure, or maybe one of those desk calendars with a page per day? Something funny - or cute? I don't know. I'm not picky.
Are you interested in having any freshly dried apple crips? (Golden Delicious and Fuji -- sliced, dried apples with nothing added.)
Sure! I eat tons of the dried apples from Trader Joe's, so I would love it.
how culinarily adventurous would you say you are????
I'd say I'm up for most anything. I enjoy trying new things.
And I thought I answered this one, but that was apparently the This Is Halloween swap answers: I'd love to have one of the bags from the Etsy shop. I always have projects and small items to tote around. I like any of the cat fabrics and also the Princess Bride. (I've had my eye on these for a few swaps now!)
And here are my answers to the original questionnaire. There were some links in there that I don't think carried over to email:
BASIC INFO
Pronoun (she/her, he/him, they/them, etc.): she/her
Birthday (like, will it be during this swap?): So close! November 29th!
Pets: OK, here goes:
-
Tevin - Australian cattle dog. 6 years old. Rescued from WV. Has the worst genetics and a bunch of autoimmune things, so he is mostly blind and has only 4 teeth left despite not being old. BUT he’s the best boy ever. He’s been the welcome wagon for every dog ever fostered here because he loves everyone.
-
Pansy - ACD/Great pyrenees mix. 4 years old. Rescued from KY. Her Type A cattle dog side regularly battles her stubbornly independent pyr side, producing visible and epic internal conflict. She’s the Floof Princess and also quite the bitch to dogs she doesn’t know. Her favorite sport is sitting in our fenced front yard, surveying the neighborhood and silently judging.
-
Dina - Australian cattle dog. 4 years old. Rescued from a hoarding situation in MS. We’ve been told a bit about what her past life was like and it hurts to think about it too much. She’s still pretty scared of the world, but fiercely loves the people she knows belong to her. Her obsession in life is following at my ex-partner’s heels.
-
Benjamin - gray shorthair cat. 13(?) years old. Everyone’s favorite super needy cuddle bug. Despite his age, he’s still pretty spry and he likes to get into mischief. He’s diabetic and has to eat special food, so naturally he sits around all day, scheming to get into all the other animals’ food.
-
Gerald(ine) - tuxedo cat. 13(?) years old. Our senile old man. Gerald spends most of his time sleeping in odd places around the house. He’s a strange, crotchety old man.
-
These kiddos have been frequently joined by any number of foster dogs over the past 3 years. Our last foster was adopted about two weeks ago - I’m sure there will be a new wayward soul soon!
Children: none, thanks!
Religious Orientation if any and if you want to share: none to speak of
Favorite Holiday: Christmas, followed closely by Thanksgiving.
WOLFENOOT INFO
What is your* favorite animal rescue or charity? A web address would be helpful for your Wolfenati. Or would you rather have them donate to their local shelter?
I foster for the Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Assoc. (ACDRA), which works to save ACD’s from Maine to Georgia.
What kind of furbabies/Pack do you have that you would like gifts for? See above
What are your furbabies' names?
What are your* favorite things to receive?
What is your* favorite Moon shape?
Interesting question…I’m not sure I’ve ever thought about it. I think I like both the full, round moon and also the little sliver crescent moon.
What is your* favorite sound to receive? (music/format, squeaky toy, etc.)
I’ll defer to the doggos on this one. Squeaky toys are coveted in this house! Tevin usually takes possession of the toys first, as is the right of the older brother, and he carries them around like precious babies until he forgets and one of the younger doggos finds them and gets to rippin’...
Would you like half things for your fur babies and half for you, or..?
That sounds fair. I mostly signed up because I have a house full of critters, but it’s nice to get things for myself, too.
What kind of soft or furry things do you* like?
I live in New England, so I always need more cozy things. Scarves, cute gloves or socks. All of the things.
*you/r, furbabies, or packs
BATH & BODY
Favorite BPAL: See forum post here. During this autumn season, I’m wearing a lot of Muddy Armadillo.
Favorite non-BPAL perfumes: see link above
Favorite notes for perfume or bath & body:
Least favorite notes or notes of DEATH: can’t do incense, musk, or patchouli (unless it’s the patchouli note in Sucreabeille’s The Librarian. I don’t know how that works)
Other favorite Bath & Body brands: I try to go for stuff I know isn’t tested on animals, so brands like Lush and Pacifica are good.
Favorite B&B product types: Body wash and nice soaps are good. I don’t have a bathtub, only a stand-up shower, so bath bombs and bubbles are out, sadly.
Product types you nope out on:
Allergies or ingredient restrictions related to bath & body:
Skin type (oily? dry? t-zone? eczema?): super dry skin in these tough New England winters. My face is prone to rosacea, so I have to be very careful about what I put on. Face tends to be very dry, though.
Hair type (bald/shaved/long/short/david bowie labyrinth mullet? dry/oily? straight/curly? fine/full?): Short mop of crazy curls. My hair itself is pretty thick. It does what it wants. I’ve been thinking I’d like some more cute clips though.
Shower, tub, bathing in a river/by waterfall: Just a boring old shower. (Though there is a place I stay in the summer with an outdoor shower. It’s glorious. Just sayin’)
Would you like nail polish?
* what brands and/or nail polish colors & types do you like?
* do you need a base or coat?
* how about other nail accessories like stamps, files, stickers, wraps, etc.?
Only on my toes. Working with books is surprisingly hard on a manicure. I haven’t found anything that will stay on past a few days, even the expensive gel-type stuff. With that said, I have great fun painting my toenails and picking out cute nail stickers to apply! I don’t use any specific brand, but I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for Mooncat lately (esp. the Hocus Pocus colors!) Plus, they’re cruelty free!
Would you like makeup?
*If you would like makeup, what sorts would you prefer?
*Any favorite makeup brands, colors?
*Any hated/not-preferred makeup brands, colors, or products?
I have to pass on makeup. I have super sensitive skin and stick pretty closely to what I know works for me.
How do you feel about receiving homemade B&B products? I’m open to it!
CLOTHING & JEWELRY
Personal clothing style:
(I work as a school librarian) I recently read this blog post by a librarian I follow and she was musing on how one day she was at work and she just started thinking of herself as an extra in a movie scene in a library. Her idea was that if her patrons were in the library, she wanted to enhance their “library experience” by looking as librarian-y as possible. And now I can’t stop thinking about that. So I don’t wear glasses, but I do like a good cardigan, funky socks, etc.
Favorite Colors to wear: I think I wear a lot of pink and blue
Least Favorite Colors to wear: I don’t tend to like yellows and greens
Would you enjoy receiving wearables (shirts, socks, arm/legwarmers, scarves, shawls, cowls, hats, etc.)?
* are you allergic to any types of yarn or fabrics?
* Sizing on wearables? (socks, head, hands, scarf width/lengths, shirt sizes, pj bottoms, etc.)
All of these except for hats/headgear. I don’t think I look good in hats. Also, my hair is pretty short, so the typical hair stuff like scrunchies doesn’t really work for me. I can’t do most wool or animal fibers. They make me itch!
Sizing is usually pretty safe at a medium. I err on the side of looser rather than tighter. And I can’t take anything that is constricting at the neck. (Turtlenecks are the bane of my existence!)
I’m pretty tall, so sometimes it’s even helpful to buy things like pajama pants in men’s sizes since they’re longer.
Do you like jewelry?
* What types do you wear?
* What sizes and/or lengths do you prefer (wrist, ring, neck, ankle)?
Silvertone rather than goldtone. Smaller and more understated, though they can still be funky. I usually wear a necklace and several bracelets. My favorite bracelets are various takes on these. (AND I just broke my favorite one!) Pre-pandemic I enjoyed earrings, but with the need for masks that became too much of a hassle.
What medium do you prefer for adornments? (ribbon, cord, leather, silver, gold, hemp, cotton, etc.)
* Are you allergic to any type of jewelry materials? Silver, mostly. It is nice to have a few gold options sometimes, but I don’t really have much of it. No allergies that I can think of except for wool.
Favorite gemstones or types of beads? My bracelet that just broke was rose quartz beads. My life is in a big period of transition right now as I am amicably separating from my partner of almost 7 years - so maybe things for clarity and transition?
Are you open to knitted or crocheted jewelry? (necklaces, cuffs, bracelets, earrings - could be yarn, wire, hemp, ribbon) Sure! As long as it’s not itchy…
Do you need or want hair adornments? (head bands, clips, barrets, hair sticks, scrunches, combs, pins, elastics, hair falls...) The only thing I can really use on my shorty crazy hair is small to medium clips. But I could definitely use more cute/funky/unique ones. I like claw clips as well as bobby pins. Nothing that clips shut, if that makes sense?
How do you feel about receiving gently used CLEAN jewelry or clothing items? (obviously not undergarments or socks.) Absolutely fine. I’m trying to reduce my environmental footprint in any way possible, so sure.
How do you feel about receiving handmade wearables or jewelry? Sounds great!
HOME & LIFESTYLE
What is your home decoration style, or what would you like it to be?
Best described as “granny chic” lol. I live in a vintage 1923 cottage, so I try to keep that going. I don’t go so far as to have doilies though. Well, maybe ironic doilies.
Favorite Colors for home decor:
I apologize in advance, but this is my very jumbled Pinterest board for home decor wishes.
Least Favorite Colors for home decor: Brights and neons won’t fit in
Things you collect? (For example, I collect NMBC cookie jars, Gargoyles/Grotesques, Starbucks City Mugs, yarn, BPAL, Neodymium Depression Glass, etc.)
I have quite the roost of antique chicken dishes. My grandmother had them when I was small, so when I got older I just started collecting them. When she passed away, I got the one from her house that started me down the road of collecting them. I hope the link works. Ignore the paint swatches behind them. I’m trying to decide what color to paint inside the shelves.
I also have a small but growing collection of Funko Pops I keep in the library at school.
* Do you have any special affinities for any sort of “thing” (i.e. you’re really into dolphins, mushrooms, skulls, mermaids, dragons, etc.)??
Hmmm, not really sure. Weird old vintage stuff is all that comes to mind. Super vague - sorry!
Do you have any fandoms?
* favorite characters from any fandoms?
Stranger Things - Robin, Steve, Dustin (Hard to choose a favorite. I love them all!)
Harry Potter - (Luna, Tonks, Lupin)
Would you appreciate decoratives or art for your home?
*Are there any restrictions (no naked people, no breakables, that kind of thing)?
Sure! No restrictions
Do you have favorite artists or a favorite style of art?
Not that I can define
Do you have room for wall art or would you prefer to receive it as something else? (stickers, pins, buttons, wearable, travel mugs, bags/totes, shower curtains, rugs, etc. I'm thinking of the types of things from Society 6 or Redbubble, etsy, etc.) Smaller is probably better. My house is pretty cramped for wall space right now. I do enjoy good travel mugs/cups as well as things like Funko Pops.
* Do you want to receive art (in the medium of your choice described in above question) based on your affinities or fandoms? Sure!
Do you scent your home?
* candles? what types? I go through a ton of Yankee Candles because I live very close to the flagship store, which is a wonderland of stink-good commercialism.
* room spray? I’ve received a few testers of BPAL atmos and have generally liked them. I usually use them as linen spray when I change out the sheets, etc.
* incense? Can’t do it - too many allergies
* wax burner? Maybe? I just got a tiny baby crockpot from the Goodwill to use for a wax coating craft project. Maybe it can be a wax burner now?
* do you like different scents for home than you'd wear as perfume? If so, what are they? I like my house to smell like the seasons! (So right now fall or winter scents would be awesome.)
What sort of music do you like? Tends to be singer/songwriter-y type stuff and pretty eclectic. Brandi Carlile, Lucius, Gregory Alan Isakov, The National, Ray Lamontagne.
* Favorite groups? I have an obsession-level love for Brandi Carlile, though I have almost all of her stuff, even on vinyl.
* Are you okay with burned music CDs or music on a thumb drive? Sure!
Favorite movies? I watch and re-watch all the Harry Potter movies as comfort movies. (I know Rowling is a damn dirty TERF, but it’s so hard to stop loving that world that has felt important to me for so long.) I love Fried Green Tomatoes, Hocus Pocus, Goonies. Oh, and all of the typical ones you love if you are an 80’s kid: Labyrinth, Princess Bride, Neverending Story.
Favorite TV shows? Parks and Rec, Supernatural (hey, don’t judge me!), Handmaid’s Tale, British Baking Show
Do you have VHS/DVD/Blu-Ray...Betamax? I don’t think we do anymore
* does your player of choice have region restrictions?
* do you want to receive such media?
Favorite authors / genres: Ohhhhh, it’s probably easier just to share my Goodreads profile.
What reading medium (ebook type, magazines, paperback, hardback) do you prefer? Any of the above. I’m always reading something!
Book wishlist link or authors/books/magazines you'd like to read?
Hobbies / Crafts done?
* Are there any hobbies or crafts you'd like to learn?
* Do you need any supplies for your hobbies or crafts (beads, paint, canvas, project bags, ink, brushes, thread, yarn, needles, hooks, soap molds, etc.) I think I’m all set on this for now.
* How about patterns or books relating to your hobby/craft?
It’s funny, I have so many “used to” hobbies. I think I just ran out of extra time to do things I like to do? I still read a ton, but that comes with the job. I used to keep up with my planner, both as an organizational tool and a creative outlet, but I haven’t been doing that as much lately.
Do you have gaming consoles or play computer games? I do when I have time, but that’s not been a lot lately.
* any games you need game codes or supplement packs for?
How about tabletop gaming? No thanks.
* any games in particular you'd like to have or supplements for games you already have?
What kind of technology do you use to access things? (tablet, laptop, phone, pc? android/iOS/windows/unix?) I have a very old iPhone 8 and a Dell laptop
* do you need any type of technology accessories? cables, skins, cases, stickers? Actually, my iPhone could use a new case if they even still make ones that fit iPhone 8. It wouldn’t hurt to cover my laptop, too.
* if so, please give model of tablet/phone/laptop to make sure things work or fit properly.
iPhone 8 and Dell XPS 13
How do you feel about receiving gently used movies, music, books, games, crafting items, or home decor items? Sounds brilliant!
FOOD
Vegetarian / Vegan? No, though I do tend to stick to meat from local farms so I at least know how it was raised.
Other Food Restrictions? None. I am very much in favor of food.
Favorite Flavors: chocolate, coffee, peanut butter
Least Favorite Flavors: None, really. Except maybe black licorice?
Favorite foods, snacks, or treats: I like snack food of all kinds a little too much. I’m a sucker for a good peanut butter/chocolate combo. I also adore yogurt pretzels.
Anything you especially love but can't find in your area? Not that I can think of
Do you cook or bake? I do, but I’m coming up blank on anything I can use here. Unless there’s some weird ingredient that your region is famous for (looking at you, coffee milk people). Though I’m always up for trying new recipes/ingredients. I cook, I bake, I have an Instant Pot, I make my own yogurt, I’ve dabbled in fermented things.
* need any kitchen items?
* need any spices or speciality flours/sugars/salts?
* anything else you would be able to use?
Favorite beverages?
* Coffee? Whole bean, ground, roast? Yeah, you can just go ahead and send me all the coffee right now. I’ll take whole or ground, though I do have a really nice grinder. Darker roasts preferred, especially in the colder months. Coffees local to swap partners are always appreciated. If you have a favorite local coffee shop, I’d love to try their beans. I also like flavored coffees. I just really like coffee.
* Tea? Loose leaf, bags, green, black, tissanes, flavored? I appreciate tea, especially when it’s cold out, but I also spend so much time drinking coffee that I sometimes ignore my tea stash. I’m open to it if you want to send it my way. I have a nice infusing tea bottle that I find comforting and aesthetically pleasing, so loose leaf would be the way to go.
* Alcohol? If so, favorite kind / flavors? I wish!!! Massachusetts doesn’t seem to allow mailing alcohol. I have one friend in Montana that seems to get away with it. I’m not sure how.
How do you feel about receiving homemade food items (baked goods, jam, dried fruit, liqueur samples, etc.)? 100% you can send them my way. I love it all, seriously.
EVERYTHING ELSE
What are five inexpensive things you always appreciate receiving? Anything nerdy/cute, gift cards (I’ve never understood why some people say they’re not a good gift!), and miniature items. Luxurious small snacky things I can put in my lunchbox and anticipate until lunchtime.
Is there anywhere that you would like a giftcard or online credit for? Etsy is always good.
Do you have any allergies, intolerances, or lifestyle restrictions/requirements that weren't already covered? (cigarette smoke, animal allergies, environmental allergies? Whatever you want your swapper to be aware of environmentally. Food and Jewelry allergies were covered above.) Nope.
Is there anything you absolutely do NOT want to receive? (like say you have 5,000 bars of soap, coffee cups, or socks...) Not that I can think of
Please place your wishlists and moodboards here (or link them in your signature) to give your swapper great ideas of what you like): Most are already linked here or in my signature. I’ll also put this page into a BPAL blog post just in case the links don’t work from here.
Is there anything else you would like to say to your swapper? You are awesome and amazing!
