this was a generous freebie from the lab, and i'm so pleased they included it! desdemona has a light, floral scent, but in a clean, breezy way. i don't normally care for scents that are ALL flower, but i really like this one! i don't get any of carnation's spiciness, but maybe i will in the future for me this scent evokes springtime, when its warm and sunny and the trees are in bloom. the whole world is new again, and you can hear people singing out their windows as you walk to school. it is very feminine. lovely!

now, normally, i can't do straight-up florals. too...flowerly. pele, however, is an exception. i think its the pikaki, but this floral blend has a clean, light, not-overly-floral tone to it. its very nice! its a blue sky, clear sunshine kind of scent for me. i think i will wear it more in the summer months, but as winter drags on and i miss the sun i may reach for it more often. i do wish it were a tad longer lasting on my skin! overall i would rate this as a 'strong like' on my bpal scale. i think it is my husband's favorite scent so far, however!

in the imp this has some similar scents as queen of sheba- probably the honey, and myrrh. it smells warm, in a golden kind of way. i can also pick out some of the baby powder scent others have mentioned. after it dries down on me, this smells like warm, slightly damp (sweaty?) skin w/ a light powder overlay. i'm not sure how i feel about it, but it *is* very well named! it very much has an 'after sex' kind of glowly smell to it.

when i first saw this i was quite impressed with its lovely green color first scent was very green and herbal- sort of a freshly mown herb kind of smell. i put it back down, but a few days later decided to try it out. i thought something light and herby would do me some good. well, the little trickster morphed on my skin! turned very floral, with only the faintest vaporub undertone. when dry it was an odd mixture of flowers and vaporub. not really me, but on the other hand, my husband did not complain about it, as he has when he really objects to a scent. belladonna confuses me!

another velvet lover i got this one in a swap with metalrocks6480 and as soon as i opened the imp i was in love. and drooling. coconut, chocolate, myrrh! i put it on my wrists and sat at my desk and sniffed at them with a goofy grin. then i drooled some more. very foody!! husband laughed when he came upon me in this state (but in a nice way). the foodiness fades, though, and after 30 minutes or so i'm left with a slightly bitter, cocoa-ish sandalwood. bitter in a good way! its sweet, deep, warm, and sophisticated without being too grown up to have a good time. the sandalwood actually smells like real sandalwood, too, which is a lovely change after all the fake smelling sandalwood i encoutered before bpal. yay for velvet! ps i don't even like chocolate that much (for eating)!

i was so excited to try vinland! it smells like berries (logan or otherwise) right away. very fruity and sweet. i don't get any of the woody scents, but after a short while the berry fades and the florals come out. and on me they COME OUT. very strong floral. sadly, it started to smell old-ladyish on me at this point, just as my skin decided to amp things up. i started getting a headache. i had to wash it off the first time i've done that with bpal...*sniff*

this was the scent description that pushed me to first order bpal, and its the one that other people squeal over when i describe it. everyone does! aizen-myoo is yuzu straight out of the imp, but yuzu with tea syrup poured over it. it adds an edge of dark depth. on my skin the yuzu fades pretty fast (sigh), but the cherry blossoms come out and wrap the tea in a floral shawl. i like this one very, very much. i think it will be a wonderful summer scent, so cooling and uplifting and energizing!

I got this in a swap- I love sweet scents and was anxious to try it! Wet/In the bottle- YUM. Bubble gum...makes me want to lick or chew my wrist! 15 min later- well, the bubble gum has faded somewhat ( ), but the candy scent has come out. I still like it! Dry- more floral, and I do get some of the cinnamon others have mentioned, all still rounded out with sweet candy notes. Final verdict- I heart Jailbait! One of my favorites- it feels very lighthearted and girly. Of course, I'd like it even better if the bubble gum lasted and lasted....

This smelled very sophisticated to me in the bottle- sweet and spicy and woody. On my skin the same scent families were present, in an incesensy-potpurri kind of way (not a bad thing!). I didn't get much cinnamon, just an overall warmness. As it dried it became more complex and quite lovely. In the end, this one was a bit too grown up for me- I agree w/the previous reviewer who said it was something she could imagine her mother in law wearing (and I love my mother in law, so again not a bad thing!). I really, really like it, though, and if I smelled it on someone else I'd ask what that scent was.

I was really excited to try this one- the description sounded so amazing! When I opened the imp I was underwhelmed. Very underwhelmed. So sad. I tried it on and still didn't like it. Even sadder. A couple days later, tho, I decided there was no reason for me not to like this scent! Everything in it is yummy! So I tried again. And I liked it! Only OK, tho. But I found myself *wanting* to wear it over the next several days. So I wore it again and I LOVED it. Kind of strange, but this one grew on me and twined all around the desire part of my brain... This is my favorite BPAL scent thus far ADDED Nov. 29: oh how i love queen of sheba! at first it has a slightly off-putting scent that i can't put my finger on, both in the vial and on my skin. within 5 minutes it has turned to a lovely golden scent, bitter dry almonds dipped in spiced honey. very warm and exotic, no cinnamon that i can detect, for instance. this one has great staying power and throw on me, and my skin seems to eat a lot of scents. i can still smell queen of sheeba after 6 hours! more this will clearly be a big bottle purchase, and soon!

I got this as a freebie with my first order, and it smelled lemony in the bottle to me. I read the site description and the reviews and I must have a crazy nose AND wack body chemistry with this one, because I still smell lemons, and also soap, both in the bottle and on my skin. Irish Springs soap. Or Zest. Very sad, as the description sounds so yummy! Soap and lemons just aren't working for me right now, though...
