Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2015)
LadyLuckless replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Carnaval Diabolique
I've never tried the original Madame, but I'm in love with this incarnation! Sweet, smoky, musky vanilla with luscious red fruit- so gorgeous. It makes me think of a sweeter, slightly less complex Snake Charmer. Absolutely delicious, and an instant favorite. -
The Unicorn, Rushing Against the Tree, Fixed its Horn so Fast in the Trunk that it Could Not Draw it Out
LadyLuckless replied to puck_nc's topic in Limited Editions
This reminds me so much of The Last Unicorn! Lovely ethereal floral prettiness. Almost identical, but not quite- The Unicorn Rushing is a bit lighter and sweeter. Airy, where TLU is more grounded. This unicorn must have been one of the ones she freed, and judging from the label it's still kind of miffed about it. If you wanted The Last Unicorn and are worried you may not get the chance, I'd really recommend this one. -
This is a cool scent, it takes you through the whole sugary lemon rainbow! At times it's smelled like lemon lollipops, lemon ice, lemon sherbet, lemon cake, lemon meringue pie, etc. etc. It seems to finally settle on something that smells like what you'd get if you replaced the orange in a creamsicle with lemon, or a creamy lemon milkshake. A wonderfully happy warm weather scent, and it came to me just in time for a freak heatwave the likes of which a decent Canadian should never have to experience, so bonus!

Hope, for sugary pink roses!

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

SunsetKay, I'd also recommend you hunt down a bottle of Venus Verticordia: Fickle dandelion florets dancing through honey-drenched wildflowers. It's a gorgeous sunny summer scent! Ok I'll give this a try too! Let's see, I'm an INTP, Scorpio, Rooster, House Tyrell, Slytherin (usually Ravenclaw but Pottermore says I'm Slytherin and who am I to argue with JK?) Canadian redhead with ultra celtic roots. I'm an annoying walking contradictory mess of anxiety and depression, introversion and the tendency to whistle, sing and dance in public without caring. I can't even pin down a favorite color, or get a tattoo, because I love so many things! I'm a professional artist, my specialty being watercolor but I love creating anything out of everything, like making toys, mobiles and decorations like painted animals and figures. I love the works of artists like Mucha, Arthur Rackham, Stephanie Pui-Mun Law, Van Goh, and all the Pre-Raphealites. I'm pretty feminine and love nature, fantasy, myths and legends. I adore beautiful things and I find a lot of things beautiful. I am constantly stressed to within an inch of my sanity. -
Named after the primordial ocean of milk where Lord Vishnu reclines upon the thousand-headed Naga. Sweet milk and warm, healing ginger with a touch of golden honey and our blend of Ambrosia. Warm, sweet gingered milk! So warm and clean and comforting, like a blanket or sweater fresh out of the dryer. This is one of my favorite scents to wear to bed or to relax and unwind.

Vanilla chiffon, honey musk, and pale magnolia. Oh. My. God. This is the swooniest scent that ever did make me swoon! It's just so pretty! Pretty pretty prettiness in a pretty bottle, I didn't think it was possible to outpretty the likes of Snow White, but I think The Bride may have done it! I honestly had no idea what magnolia smelled like, but I blind bottled it because I figured you could plug just about any floral into this formula and it would be lovely. And boy howdy is it ever! The vanilla is some of the best I've ever come across, and it blends gorgeously with the sweet honey musk and that lovely blooming white floral note (I guess magnolia is a win) . It's beautiful, soft, sweet, and utterly feminine in the vein of Comparison of Celebrated Beauties, Lady Una and Snow White. Freaking GLORIOUS! And pretty!

I've been dying for a bottle of this since I received a tiny drop as a swap gift way back in '09. Despite some sharpness fresh out of the bottle (which I know will round right out with some aging) Love's Philosophy remains my perfect vanilla dream! Creamy, rich, divine, and will become more so with age. So happy to finally have a bottle of the scent that was #1 on my wish list!

Beautiful! This is a delicately sweet, citrus-kissed floral tea. So happy and mood-lifting, and absolutely perfect for summer! I agree with bitterstar, it does call to mind Ginnivre, l'Artiste du Diable (one of my greatest loves!) but I find Full Moon more calmly energizing, where Ginnivre is more relaxing and languid.

Lovely soft cherry-almond sweetness. This one fast became one of my favs, it really is a beauty!

I did a search, but there didn't seem to be a topic for this, so I hope I'm not repeating anything. Please merge if I am! I'm a huge floral fan, and my favorites are floral blends that have a nice sweetness to them. The only floral BPAL I've tried so far is Snow White, and I fell utterly in love, if that helps. I also adore Lush's Flying Fox, Amandopondo, Lily Savon and Potion. I'd love lots of recs for sweet florals, any floral would likely be alright. If it's flowery and sugar/vanilla/honey/etc. drenched I'll probably love it!

Something for Industriousness/Getting down to work

Paladin is my go-to for when I need to feel confident and capable. It's like slathering on shining armor. -
I always wanted to try Eve, so when I saw it was being discontinued I jumped before it could get away! Soooo glad I did. It's a delicious crisp, red honeyed apple out of the bottle, then the roses come out to play. Such a gorgeous springtime scent, it's just so happy!

If your top 5 scents are... Then try these!
LadyLuckless replied to Ella LaRose's topic in Recommendations
I'd suggest Titania especially, also Bon Vivant and 51, and for LE's Lilith's Tea Party, Earth Ox, and maybe Selkie. This is so fun! Here's mine (with some slight cheating) 1. Fairy Market 2. Snake Oil/Charmer/Boomslang (Snakes are my friends, it seems) 3. Snow White 4. Gennivre L'artiste Du Diable 5. Rose Red/Hope/Persephone (sweet roses are also my friends) -
I'm a redhead, and scents that read as "red", or spicy scents bring red hair to mind for me. Rose Red, Persephone, Shub Niggurath, and Gingerbread Snake come to mind. To a lesser extent Autumnal scents like Samhain and Lambswool sometimes have that effect, too. Blonde makes me think of light, delicate scents like Paladin, Good, Pink Snowballs, Titania, 51, or The Last Unicorn. Brunette makes me think of the richer, fuller scents. Maybe with a foodie, woodsy or lightly resinous edge. Scents like Boomslang, Skadi, Wings of Azrael, Cathedral, Dee, and Morocco. Black hair makes me think of either cold, clear scents or deep dark and sexy lol. One extreme or the other. Snow White and Lick it are one extreme: Snake Oil, Snake Charmer, Spellbound, and Wanton are some that come to mind.

Immaculate white musk, sweet frankincense, bourbon vanilla, white leather, and shining armor. I've never successfully worn a scent with leather or metallic notes, and have always passed them off as being too masculine, but a surprise love of playing a paladin character made me order an imp on a whim. I'm so glad I did! Paladin is exquisite! The leather is soft, white, and immaculate, the armor is gleaming like freaking justice and the beautiful vanilla/musk/frankincense combo radiates like a halo. This is bottled strength and nobility, it smells like every incorruptible heroine who has ever held aloft a sword and kicked evil's ass! I feel unbeatable wearing this. It makes me want to charge out into the world to right wrongs and triumph like a boss. My bottle can't get here fast enough!

"Good" delivers what it promises, and is extremely pretty. All the notes are present and accounted for, with a lovely light and musky honey playing the lead. The vanilla and sugar sparkles through the honey, and the tiny breath of floral adds an extra feminine touch. A very clean, "white" scent that could be used to honey-dip some of my other BPALs. I already have a bottle on the way.

“Many things -- such as loving, going to sleep, or behaving unaffectedly -- are done worst when we try hardest to do them.” Ohhhh MYYYYY! This is crazy gorgeous! A delicious lavender milkshake of cozy fluffiness. It's like they took LUSH's Twilight scent (my favorite lavender) and blended it with the sugary vanilla from Love's Philosophy (my favorite vanilla) to make the perfect relaxation scent. It doesn't knock me out, but it definitely chills me out and makes me feel really mellow and happy. As an added bonus it's the best scent to have rub off on my baby since it smells like cuddles. TKO has leaped gracefully to the top of my BPAL loves and I just plain refuse to ever be without it!

The labels are the same as the pics posted for them on their sale page on the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab site. I can't take pictures at the moment, but all of the bottles I have from that series have the black & white sketch type images from the site and then a bit of pink and black text. Oh that sounds pretty, those sketches are gorgeous! Thanks so much for the reply.

Has anyone posted pics of the Last Unicorn labels anywhere? I'm dying to see them!

May 22 was my wedding date too, you'll be getting married on my 1st anniversary! For minty or tea scents I have to suggest trying Gennivre and Green Tree Viper. Congratulations!
-
I wore Snow White for my wedding last May, and it was the perfect choice! Snow White always makes me feel very happy and princess-like, so there was no question which scent I'd go with.

I'm in love with the truffle labels! So cute!
