Sage scents - White, Clary, and others

Hmm looks like I'll have to pay closer attention to the Lunacies! Thanks!

Sage scents - White, Clary, and others

I'm bumping this because I've recently discovered that clary sage makes me, to use highly technical and eloquent terms, "super-happy-whoo-whoo-yeah." Lol, I'm a huge Lush fan, and I noticed that a handful of products (American Cream, Flosty Gritter, Sex Bomb, Joy of Jelly, Shimmy Shimmy, basically anything with the AC, Sex Bomb scent really) just bliss me the heck right out! Like a cat with a mouthful of super mutant catnip blissed out! I checked the ingredient lists and I think the Clary Sage is what's doing it, since I've never had that scent in anything else. So is there any new Clary Sage scents kicking around out there?
  3. I haven't tried Alice yet, but I have the Potion solid perfume and love it so much it makes my mouth water. Can someone who has tried both please tell me how Alice compares with the Potion solid?

BPAL for Working Around or With Animals?

I've never tried it myself, but I've heard Black Cat in Bewitching Brews actually has catnip in it. And one of my cats turns into a purry little love machine when I wear Eat Me. She gets insanely clingy and won't leave me alone!

    Crow Moon

My first ever bottle of BPAL! Sniffed from the bottle, the following exclamation burst from my mouth: "That is one WEIRD scent!!!" Lol, it smelled like earthy, minty, floral shampoo. But newbie though I am, I know you can't judge a BPAL by it's bottle, so my delight continued unabated as I happily slathered my new treasure on and prepared to enjoy the ride, not knowing what to expect. If this WERE a ride, it would be a serene carriage ride through the chilly woods, just as spring thaw is setting in and the first early flowers bloom. Anyone who smells like this wouldn't be trudging through the slush on her own two feet. This lady would be reclining at her leisure, completely at ease and just radiating elegant composure and sophistication. This smells EXPENSIVE! This is one I'll reach for when I want to feel confident and put-together. Aloof really is the word for it!

BPAL for fancy, elegant and formal occasions

For the only wedding I attended since discovering BPAL, I wore Snow White. It put me in the perfect sweet, happy mood, plus the fairy tale princess name was fitting.
  7. It depends on your preferences, of course, but I think that if you're a big floral fan it would be worth it to try all of them eventually. They definitely have some similarities though (they all have a noticeable carnation note, for one) so if you really wanted to narrow it down I'm sure you could. I have all three, so maybe I can be of some help? Maiden is very crisp and green, with the tea adding to the freshness of the florals and the rose adding a lovely sweetness. Desdemona is a floating, watery scent with the floral softness of lily and sweet pea and the carnation's peppery spice, much more crystalline than Maiden's stem-like green. Maiden is a touch sweeter too, I think. Alice is more smooth and creamy than both of the others. I don't get much rose or bergamot from it, so to me it's mostly a soft milky carnation blend with a hint of honey. If I had to pick one to recommend it would be Alice, but I'm biased since it's my favorite GC. It's a very well-liked scent though, so if it works on so many others there's a decent chance you'll love it as well. I hope that's at least a little helpful, lmk if there's anything more specific you're curious about! Thanks, that's really helpful! I'm a huge floral lover and they sound really beautiful, especially Alice, so all three it is! I'm a sucker for watery scents, green scents, and creamy scents so they all sounds wonderful.
  8. I haven't tried any of them yet, but Alice, Maiden, and Desdemona have been compared to each other quite a bit in their reviews; I'll be getting quite a few imp packs for an anniversary present soon, and I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to get all three? Are they different enough to warrent it, do you think?

    Almond and Amaretto

Yes!!! Thank you! I was considering Hecate among others, but reading the reviews it sounds like exactly what I want! Thanks a bunch!

    Almond and Amaretto

Does anyone have some suggestions for a sweet, almond-heavy scent? I'd like something like the almond note in Hellcat, but without the boozy sharpness.

    Scents for artistic inspiration

I'm having the exact same problem, I'm a watercolor painter and I haven't touched brush to paper in almost 5 months. It didn't even occur to me to look for scents to cure artist's block! Great idea, I'll be watching this thread.

    Sweet, sweet florals

Hehe, if you dont like Faith I am pretty sure you will have no trouble at all selling or swapping it. I also saw Paris on your list. Somehow it sounded great to me but when I tried it it was the single worst lotus experience ever. I hope you have more luck with it though! Lol, I'm pretty sure I'll like Faith, I seem to be getting more and more into violet. I think I'll reconsider Paris though, I was a little afraid of the lotus in the first place... I've never actually tried lotus in a perfume, and the few times I've smelled it in a lotion or bubble bath it just smelled like fake bubble gum to me. I'll have to do some more looking around for my sweet lavender. I think TKO would be wonderful and I'll get a bottle sometime, but for now I'm looking for an imp-able GC scent. La Petite Mort and Baobhan Sith sound interesting, I'll check those out!

    Sweet, sweet florals

Thank you SO much for the great recs, please keep them coming! A lot of them I already had on my ever-growing and changing list, so it's good to know I'm on the right track! Here's a list of the floral blends I have on my wishlist now. It's all for my anniversary present in late May, so there's plenty of time for fine-tuning. HOPE & FAITH - I've been reluctantly eyeing these two for a while! A great, sweet rose is what I want above all, but the violet made me nervous. But I'm takin' a chance, since violet seems to be growing on me and sugar makes everything better anyway! FAIRY MARKET-This sounds like heaven to me! I like sweet green-ness too. ANTIQUE LACE- LOVE vanilla, have to try it. DELIRIUM- Looking for an Amandopondo-type of scent. DESDEMONA-Carnation is a huge favorite of mine, I want to try it in a few different blends. MORGAUSE-It just sounds so PURPLE! THE LADY OF SHALOTT-I really want an aquatic floral too, and I've always adored the poem. MAIDEN-Sounds a lot like Alice, I figure if one doesn't work on me for whatever reason, the other will. SPELLBOUND-Supposed to be a really sexy rose. Yeah, baby! AMSTERDAM-This seems like it would be Spring in a bottle. REGAN- Anything floral/vanilla was on my list automatically EOS-Mmmmmm jasmine! Mmmmm honeysuckle! I think I'll like this one! EVE-Apple+Rose+Honey, three of my favorites! PEITHO-I've heard this is similar to Lush's Flying Fox. PERSEPHONE-Sounds like a yummy, juice rose. QUEEN MAB-Just seems like an altogether lovely blend. PARIS-Sweet lavender, yummy! I just hope the lotus doesn't go all bubblegum... EUPHROSYNE-I have a newfound liking of gardenia, and this one is said to be heavy on it. ALICE- My goodness I'm looking forward to trying this! It's like all my favorite things thrown together! MOUSE'S LONG AND SAD TALE- Another vanilla I want to try, this sounds warmer than Antique Lace. FAE- I'm not normally a huge fan of peach, but I can't resist the fairy-ness people keep saying it has! TIGER LILY- Lots of recs for this one, I'm glad! It was one of the first things on my list, I luuurve lily and honey! TWO, FIVE & SEVEN- Is this sweet? I'm surprised a few people mentioned it, I didn't think it would be! Yay! KURUKULLA-Completely went under my radar! Thanks Azhriaz!!! Hoping again for non-bubblegum lotus, but it doesn't sound like it's an issue with this one. JULIET-AEris's suggestion, it really sounds beautiful! Looking forward to this one! THE KNAVE OF HEARTS-Never even looked at this one, but it sounds really sweet and different! Plus I really liked Eat Me, and it sounds like that, minus vanilla, plus roses! Thanks Dymphna! LOVE-IN-IDLENESS-Thanks for the rec, whiterosepetals! It sounds heavenly for Spring! HELL'S BELLE-Can't resist the name! There are many other, less-or-non florals on my list, which is embarrassingly big. EDEN is going on there, it sounds soooo good! Thanks cordia! A lot of the other scents you suggested were already there, I love me some sweet and creamy! WOW, sorry for the novel! I take my research very seriously it seems! Thanks everyone, again, more recs please!

Hunting for the ultimate _____ blend

I'm looking for the ultimate sweet rose blend. Actually I want a few of them, I'm dying for something that smells like vanilla rose, lemon rose and sugary candied rose. I've been thinking about Delirium for the lemony rose, but have no clues for the vanilla. I'm looking at Hope from the Hope/Faith set for the sugary rose, it sounds perfect! But I'd have to figure out how I feel about the violet in Faith first. Hmm...

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

Lemon is completely not what I'm looking for, so Euphrosyne sounds like a no go... I tried Valentino's Rock'n Rose a while ago, and got in my head how gorgeous those two notes could be together. I really want to find a vanilla rose without that commercial-y <edge> on it... if that makes sense...

Rose Recommendations - which blend is for me?

I would love to have a nice, sweet blend of vanilla and rose. I'm eyeing Stardust's Victoria (Graceful vanilla musk, tea rose, and stargazer lily) and Excolo's Euphrosyne (Gardenia, tea rose, vanilla and jasmine). Hope of Carnival Diabolique sounds good to me too, but I'm a little afraid of violet, and I'm way too new to this to hit the swaps yet, so the Hope/Faith set would be out of the question for me. If I can't find a vanilla rose scent I guess I can always try layering, I'd just really like to find one!

The search for the perfect Violet....

Oh really? I was thinking that might be a problem, maybe I'll give Le Serpent Qui Danse another look...

The search for the perfect Violet....

Thanks for the great suggestions! I think I'll probably go with Marie, because it has so few notes. I know and love rose, so it'll help ease me into the violet, lol. If that goes well, I'll definitely be trying more of your suggestions!

The search for the perfect Violet....

I really love Lush's Bathos, but hated the scent of a sample of Gratuitous Violets soap I got in my order so much I threw it out, and then complained the GARBAGE smelled of it! I had such a mixed reaction to the only two violet-scented products I've ever tried, I just HAVE to give it a go to figure out if I like it or not! I'd like to order an imp containing some violet in my next order. I was leaning toward Morgause, Nocturne or Marie but I'd love some suggestions!

    Morocco

I'm very new to BPAL, but I know perfection when I smell it! Through Morocco I've discovered a love of carnation, musk, cassia, and found myself to be a spice lover. Gorgeous on every level, the perfect scent... it's love!

    princess-y scents

The first BPAL I ever tried, Snow White! The first words out of my mouth were "WOW, I smell like a Disney Princess!"
  22. I've only tried a few myself, but it sounds like you'd love Snow White. You should definitely check out the Yule limited editions, and for a warm, spicy sort of scent, Morocco is as gorgeous as it gets. Good luck, I hope you find something you like!

    The Perfect Lavender

I'd really like to try some lavender-based scents, since I fell hard in love with Lush's "French Kiss" bubble bar. I'll be placing my first BPAL order right after Christmas. I think I'll order an imp of Twilight, and I'm trying to decide between a bottle of Yvaine or TKO, since I don't think imps are available for those, and I don't want to get into the swaps yet (too newbish, lol). I have a hard time choosing because it turns out I like a lot of different types of scents. Does anyone have any opinions or suggestions, please?

    Eat Me

I'm not sure how good a review this is, but after going through a brief and slightly unpleasant car air-freshener phase, it's settled down to an extremely pretty cakey vanilla, with sweet currants far in the background. I really like it a lot! The most ringing endorsement though comes from my cat. As she curled under my chin like she always does, I gave her my wrist to sniff on a whim. She sniffed for a second and then started licking my wrist like crazy! This oil is well named!

Apples?? Finding the right apple scent

I love apple notes in perfume, the only commercial scents I've ever really fallen in love with were Be Delicious, Red Delicious, and Nina Ricci's "Nina". (And Valentino's Rock'n Rose, but that is vanilla/rose and thus another story... ) I'd like to have 2 apple scents in my first order (12 imps). I have to have Eve, that is my middle name, and it has 3 of my favorite notes- apple(blossom) rose and honey. Does this one smell like apple? Or is it purely floral? For my second apple, I was wondering how Poisoned Apple, The Hesperides and Verdandi compare to eachother. If you have any thoughts to share on any other apple blends, that would be great too!
