This smells more pure grape jam to me in the bottle but once on my skin it settles down to this really good almost musky vanilla honey plum sweet pea smell. I liked that it got sharper on my skin, more nuanced and complex. I suppose it will be good with aging but I can't really see how it could be better than it is now. I love it.

I have the 09 version and just have to say I don't know what the fuss is all about. I like Black Lace better in the bottle because it kind of smells like a more vanilla-ish Lamb's Wool to me, but on my skin it goes to laundry and a bit of sharp cologne and a small whiff of vanilla. I could see how it could be pretty but it's not for my scent preference.

Werepuppy smells like Stinky + hot milk and cinnamon sticks. Wearing it makes me feel clean, innocent, and happy in that carefree baby way. I love this, I'm so glad I took a chance on it.

Haha aw, I was going in to this thread to recommend Crowley. As for your second request, perhaps you could try layering Jolly Roger with another vanilla/sugar oil?

In spite of all the notes in the description, I'm getting a pretty single minded lemon rind here. I'm keeping the imp around to see if it does any of the fabled "ever changing" stuff on my skin
-
I adore the concept for this scent, and was so excited to try it. That being said, this smelled quite pleasant in the imp, but on my skin it went Granny's antique rosewater meets mildew. I don't know another way to convey the after impression but it's definitely not for me.

At first this smelled like flower stems and cream, and then some sweet plum came out, but the cream left, replaced by flowers and a bit of spicy plum. The end result is quite sharp and more than a bit powdery, damn my skin chemistry.

I loved how this smelled in the vial, exactly like chocolate buttercream frosting. But my skin all but ate the chocolate, and now my wrist smells vaguely of coffee.

Irrelevant and Disturbing Surreal Crawdad Dream
topazphoenix replied to filigree_shadow's topic in Liliths
This is sooooo good omg Juicy and tart, I can smell the blueberries and currant...but then there's warm sweet red musk mixed with the vanilla...the tea adds a slight coolness...I love how this is fruity, yet still warm and inviting...mmm...love love love. -
Although I don't get the hype, this might have been a okay scent, but it's completely tainted by association for me because it smells like an exact dupe of the expensive vanilla lotion some family acquaintances wore constantly, so my nose defaults to hate hate HATE. sigh.

This is very pretty, cool, and fresh. It reminds me a lot of The Temptation, but I think I like The Temptation better, because I keep getting little sharp after whiffs of jasmine from Peach Moon. And sometimes the musk seems a bit too sharp, white musk does that on my skin sometimes. Lovely overall, but just not my style.

This is love. There's dark powdered chocolate...made spicy by cinnamon, with a hint of coffee, and it's amazing but I can totally smell the brown sugar. In fact this doesn't exactly smell like a drink it smells like the powdered form of all the ingredients...the words "crystalline" and "grainy" come to mind. Like when you open a bag of brown sugar for the first time and you can literally smell the sugar crystals...that's what this smells like...or like the sugar is melting into a cup of cocoa....and the cinnamon makes it so deliciously spicy. I was worried at first because this was bitter right after application on skin...but it dried down and then everything got better and blended and lovely. I'm really glad I took a chance and bought a bottle of this unsniffed, it's a versatile cocoa scent that I will be wearing year round

I agree with AnArtfulDodger who said in the bottle this one was straight up spiked eggnog. On my skin, this...whoa, where have I smelled this before? omg, it's Love's Philosophy...with a wisp of eggnog. That's crazy, I wonder if it's the components, or just my nose..damn, and from the description I expected to love this..but I didn't really love Love's Philosophy, and I don't love Spiced Lait either.

I was really excited to get the chance to try LP from a swap. The reviews promised this lovely complex vanilla, and I love vanilla.... Once it hit my skin, it gained all the complexity of a yankee candle. In addition, I got the plastic/wax feel that was in Detestable Putrescence. At least now it's going to someone who will love it..

The new labels are beautiful objectively, but the old ones are so classic and vintage and nostalgic

In the bottle this is pretty herbal. Once it hits my skin though, it goes this weird almost mildewy smell...like the sweetness of the Snake Oil decided to make a waft for freedom but the leather was trying to do the exact same thing so they collide..overall it smells kind of wet mildewy leather rolled in sweet tonka and sprinkled with sage....odd and vaguely unpleasant. I thought leather played nicely with my skin but somehow this combination isn't really working for my chemistry.

Chaos Theory V: Recursive Self Similarity v4
topazphoenix replied to marared's topic in Limited Editions
I have never tried a Chaos Theory before but thank you!! to the lovely forumite who frottled me this. The bottle is very very full. I have never seen a 5 ml this full. In the bottle and wet on my skin it's whoa bananas and pink bubblegum! The kind of bubblegum that is individually wrapped and when you take it out it still has a dusting of powdered sugar..ok now it's drying and toning down the sweetness...now it smells kind of spicey and earthy but still sugary, like figs perhaps..and cinnamon..there might be a tiny tiny bit of Snake Oil underlying it all but I can't be certain..now it's kind of dried to rich vanilla-y cinnamon gingersnaps with a bit of lingering bubblegum. This oil is totally confusing and appropriately chaotic! I did not like it in the bottle but once it dries it's actually pretty delicious. -
I am so happy that due to a generous forum member I get to try this one. At first Pumpkin Queen is all rich pumpkin with something fruity beneath, but now that it's dry the pumpkin has receded and the fruit that has come out must be mandarin and orange peel - bright, a bit sour, not too sweet. The amber is only detectable enough to add a bit of that aged amber sparkle The spices come out after a bit and make it really more of an exotic desert spice/orange scent with a bit of pumpkin. I like it! It's too light for my tastes on what a pumpkin scent should be though. I prefer the richer Pumpkin V (07) for citrus pumpkin and aged Jack for the pumpkin to rule them all.

I hope so! whee tomato leaf!! thank you, that was informative

Nom nom nom nom nom nom nom nom...excuse me...nom nom...eh? Oh yeah. Review. Right. Concentrate. *pulls nose away from arm* Perfectly accurate cheesecake..rich and slightly salty, pungent, dense, moist...whoa not the graham cracker crust too!! Now I'm hungry...;_; This is similar to the other cake-y scents I've tried - however it lacks the fruity currant and uber sweetness of Eat Me, and doesn't possess the complexity that Dorian/Snake Oil give to Cake Smash..there's nothing overtly complex about this scent and that's part of of the reason it's so delicious. Just perfect cheesecake. Now, I must get back to inhaling.

A necrobump for this thread cause tomato leaf is amazing! How have you fared with scents with that note? Pumpkin III 09: This pumpkin has a very nice tomato leaf note in it, but even though it doesn't lean towards complete foodiness like the others, sometimes the sweetness of the pumpkin overshadows the sharpness of the tomato leaf, which can be a little disappointing. Planting Moon: This is my favorite blend with tomato leaf in it because the dirt note makes it smell gardenlike and doesn't detract from the sharp saltiness of the tomato leaf much, although there are a few floral-ish smelling notes in Planting Moon that keep it from being perfect. The Jersey Devil: The description says tomato leaf but this guy is all pine pitch, cranberry, and cedar..the tomato leaf might have made a brief appearance on the drydown but my nose isn't certain Please post if you have any ideas or recommendations! I have a vested interest in this thread

Red Rose is spicy, cloves, cinnamon, smoke, and a teensy bit of musk? It has the feel of being dry and kind of low density..layering it with White Rose provides a base that Red Rose can spiral from. Red Rose adds depth and spicey complexity to the pair of roses. But I can also see wearing it on its own, it reminds me slightly of Mircalla because of the clove. Very pretty.
-
This is quite faint on my skin. Coconut meat and frankincense with a little bit of rose peeking its head through This is pretty but indiscernible, and in my mind serves as the support of the pair of Red and White Roses when I layer them. It adds weight and an underlying smooth sweetness.

This reminds me of a sweeter, pinker The Unicorn, if The Unicorn had mandarin orange taking precedence while lilac floated dreamily in the background. It tends on the ethereal side but the earthy plum blossom seems to balance it. The label art is gorgeous.
