    L'Estate

Nepalese amber, vanilla infused amber, golden musk, sandalwood, golden lily, sunflower, and honey myrtle. It's here! It's here! I've been stalking the mail for days now . I've never been a first reviewer before. I will probably not do it justice, but here goes. In the bottle: Sweet, a little bit powdery (I assume from the amber), and very feminine. It's a very golden smell. On me, it sweetens up a tad - I can smell the honey just a bit, but the amber is center stage. The powdery-ness that I smelled in the bottle goes away, and it's just a very soft, sweet amber. It almost smells like there's a smidge of citrus in here with it, too. To me, the scent evokes a lazy sun-drenched summer day, and is all orange and gold. While I've sniffed and liked several amber blends, I didn't think it was really a note for me, but this is gorgeous. Most of the scents I like are very candy-like, and this seems like a more mature option. I'm going to be wearing this a lot this summer.

    Rosy Maple

Mmm, dusky, tart, and sweet. Reminds me a LOT of Candy Phoenix. Delicious, but I don't need both of them.

    Common Jezebel

Allll I got from this was vetiver. Yuck! I handed it to my boyfriend to sniff (because misery loves company) and he responded with "Is that whiskey? This is sweet and awesome!" Needless to say, it's in his tiny stash pile now.

    Monarch

GACK. Syrupy potpourri. Not sure what's causing it - perhaps a mix of the sugar and pumpkin? No fruit, no amber, no ginger (or perhaps the ginger is manifesting itself in the potpourri smell somehow). Bah.

Serpents with Glittering Eyes and Forky Tongues

Green is definitely the word for this scent, and it fits it so well that I can't really think of much else to describe it. It's light and very summery and fresh. The herbs are not grassy or headshoppy at all. I like it, and I'm glad because I absolutely love the name of this scent.

    Helios

This is an incredibly nice scent. Very pine-y, which I assume is the frankincense based upon ybnb's review. However, after ten minutes or so...POOF. Gone. Sadface.

    Luna

On me, I don't get pear, carnation, or lime sugar. It's just...kind of unpleasant weirdness, I assume from the green musk. To the "no thanks" pile with thee!

    Metal Tiger

Chalk me up as another person whose skin translates "metal" to "floral doom." I was hoping for Earth Rat with just a bit less melon, but you can't win 'em all .

Dark Chocolate and Key Lime Truffle

Hmm, I was hoping that the dark chocolate would be similar to the delectable note in Candy Butcher. Unfortunately, it's a lot closer to Bliss and other chocolate scents, so it's a bit too sweet and cloying for me personally. It's too bad, because the chocolate and lime are actually fairly well balanced on my skin, unlike what seems to be the case for most reviewers. I think I'll toss it in the "sort of like" imp drawer.

    Lilith and the Jarocho

Pretty much all I get from this is florals, primarily the jasmine. It's nice, but I was hoping that the lime and margaritas would citrus it up a bit.

    Kurukulla

I really like this one, surprisingly. I do love me some lotus, but rose and I do not get along. The lotus adds quite a bit of sweetness and keeps it from being at all old-ladyish. It's definitely feminine, but in a good way. While it's not a "love," it's definitely a "like," and I'm going to hang onto the imp for sure.

    A Blade of Grass

The first word that comes to mind is "crisp." This scent is very clean, and very crisp, and more than a bit grassy. Nice, especially in the summer, but not exactly my thing because I need just a bit of sweetness.

White Chocolate, Black Raspberry, and Apricot Cordial Truffle

Mmm, this is exactly like I imagined it to be. It's a pretty even mix of the three notes, and they work together quite nicely. I can't do the Lab's milk chocolate note, and the dark chocolate is hit-or-miss, but the white chocolate is love. That said, while I love this blend, it's exceedingly sweet, to the point where my teeth ache just a bit, so I'll have to be in the mood to wear this. I'll probably just stick to my decant, as sweet scent moods don't come along all that often for me.

    The Zadok Allen Vineyard

My experience is similar to many of those that have already been posted - huge blast of wine accompanied by another earthy/sharp note. The earthy note seems appropriate to me, as the vineyard in question is Lovecraftian in nature, but it just doesn't work for me. I was hoping that the wine would be a bit calmer and that I would get more of the "hints" in the description. As is though, I smell like I've been downing a bottle of spoiled Two Buck Chuck. Eep!

    Black Heart

This scent called to me - it's got a lot of yes notes (plum, cognac, vanilla, carnation). Thanks the generosity of the lovely bookandbroom, I was able to test a bit. On me, it's very fruity (mostly pom, I think?) with a large dollop of sweet pea. I loved the sweet pea note in Agape, but it's a little more dominant here, and I'm not sure what to make of that quite yet. It's extremely girly, a bit sweet, very innocent, almost candy-like but not quite thanks to the sweet pea. Despite the name, I can totally see giving this to a girl or tween to wear.

    Cake Smash

Snake Oil has spoiled yet another blend for me; I think at this point it's safe to call it a "note of doom." On me, Snake Oil makes any blend super medicinal. It always starts out fine. Cake Smash, at first, is delicious spice cake on me, akin to what I was hoping Eat Me would smell like. It doesn't smell foody, however, and I think that's due to the SO/Dorian/Doc C hanging out in the background somewhere. The longer it stays on, however, the more the cake scent dissipates in favor of something that's somewhat spicy and medicinal. Oh, hi, Snake Oil. Bah.

    Sol Invictus

Mmm, this is definitely citrusy...but the florals are adding a soapy note to it. I don't detect any honey, and while I can't directly smell the amber, it seems to be lending a powdery sweetness to the orange. So, in sum, it's a powdery sweet orange soap. Not unpleasant, but it pales in comparison to my favorite golden citrus amber blend, L'Estate.

    Scherezade

Why, hello there, red musk. Not much to add to the reviews - it's very musky on me, to the point that it reminds me of Smut. Very sexy; I don't wear such sexy scents often, so I'll remain happy with my imp.

    Countess Willie

I don't get any chocolate from this whatsoever, but I like it just the way it is. This is what I pictured Bordello as - a smoky, sexy, sultry, MUSKY plum blend. While it's basically a musky Bordello, it has a totally different feel to it. It does remind me of Snake Oil a little bit, but it doesn't have that medicinal smell to it that SO does. Overall, a win, but only for occasions in which I need to feel sexy/sultry.

    Pet Magah Bird

In the imp: Definitely fruity, but I can't pick out a certain fruit. On me: It sweetens up a bit, and I think I'm getting mostly orange, a bit of spice, and a hint of coconut. Some forumites are comparing Magah Bird to Agape, but on me the scents are totally different. Agape, to me, is a slightly floral, sweet apple; Magah Bird, on the other hand, is orangey and almost has a Christmasy vibe to it. I always try the scents with a large variety of fruit, like this and the Pinwheel scent from this past summer, but the scents never match up to the colorful cornucopia of fruits that my imagination creates when I read the list of notes. Stupid skin chemistry, simplifying my complex fruit blends!

    Candy Phoenix

Candy Phoenix is one of my favorites - I can't believe I'd neglected to review it! When I wear Candy Phoenix, it's hard to pick out one fruit. The scent overall has a sort of magenta feel to it. It's also quite sugary, but not overwhelmingly so. One of my coworkers thought it smelled just like Dr. Pepper. It's a very sweet, candyish scent, but it doesn't feel silly or like it's meant for a little girl. I love it!

    Overprotective Possessed Talking Doll

Hot damn, this scent has a lot of throw. I have a feeling that my boyfriend, when he gets home from work, is going to ask where I'm hiding all of the strawberry candy. This is pure artificial strawberry on me; I assume, like others did, that the mimosa is interacting with the strawberry in a way that makes it smell artificial, almost plastic. I'm actually somewhat relieved that this doesn't work on me; I have a bottle of Strawberry Moon, and it suits me just fine.

    Very Slightly Haunted Dollhouse

At first when I apply this scent, I get a blast of spicy carnation, and I started to wonder if Very Slightly Haunted Dollhouse would turn out to be what I wanted from Hod. Then the carnation goes POOF, and the white wine grape says HI! Now it's a very sweet florally grapey smell. I know it's carnation, but the grape is interacting with it in a way that makes it smell just sort of floral and not spicy. It seems like something I'd want to wear to an elegant tea party; very light and feminine.

Left His Nurse While In a Crowd

Wow, I don't get any chocolate like most others are getting. On me, Left His Nurse is a freshly baked pan of sugary lemon bars. It's foody, but not chocolatey, and the dominate note is definitely lemon sugar. I'm as weirded out as the other reviewers who mentioned lemon, but I'm definitely not complaining. Despite being foody, it also has a fresh, clean aspect to it. Delicious!
  25. sprocket21

    Hod

I can definitely smell the carnation in the imp, but on me, Hod is baby powder of DOOOOOM. Like, somebody took a carnation and emptied an entire 22oz container of Johnson and Johnson baby powder on it. It pretty much goes without saying that I'm disappointed, especially because carnation is my birth flower, and pink carnations are my favorite flower. Bah. I'm just grateful I was able to try it through a reasonably-priced Resurrected decant.
