Wet: Spicy carnation and baked goods! (Not reading as a "sugar cookie" to me, but definitely something baked and sweet.) Dry: The carnation has taken over the blend. Not getting anything distinctly rose. Much like some other reviewers, I wish the cookie (or baked goods) scent was stronger!

Wet: Soap and fresh lavender. Dry: Clean, lavender-scented laundry. This is what I want my clothes to smell like! I think I'll keep my decant.
-
Wet: Smokey, dark, rich berries. I can't stop sniffing this. Dry: Fairly close to the wet stage, but the berries are a little more prominent. Reminds me a touch of Midnight Kiss, minus the chocolate. I hope a decant will be enough!

Wet: Soapy white rose. Dry: Soap, be gone! What remains is a sweetened white rose scent. A little bit creamy, maybe. I don't smell anything reminiscent of caramelized benzoin sadly, but this is still a nice white rose scent for those who may be looking for one.

Black cherry, and coconut amaretto, gently laced with saffron. YUM. Okay, this is just about spot-on to the perfume version. Amaretto, cherries, and a slight toasted-coconut kind of scent. Delicious. Low throw (which I'm surprised by).

Vanilla Cream, Pistachio, and Macadamia
donkehpoo replied to Seajewel's topic in Duets & Menage A Trois
Wet: Pistachio! Heavy on that cherry-like pistachio scent mentioned by previous reviewers. Dry: The cherry scent is totally gone now. This is... a sugar-free pistachio ice cream? I can't pick out the macadamia at all, but I can get the vanilla cream now. It's not very sweet on me, at all - an understated vanilla/pistachio scent. In a good way!- 16 replies

Wet: HHHHNG. That's the good stuff. Raspberry-apricot jam! Dry: Raspberry always worries me a bit, as it has a tendency to go plastic on my skin. Luckily, much like Raspberry Sufganiyot, this does not! In comparing it to "plain" Raspberry Suf, I would say this one is more about the fruit than the dough. This one is also less sweet than Raspberry Suf IMO, but I enjoy the addition of the apricot enough to where... I think I prefer this one. All that said, it's another delicious sufganiyot scent, and I'm happy to have grabbed a bottle. Current sufganiyot ranking: Blueberry, Pomegranate, Strawberry, Fig & Cranberry, Raspberry Apricot, Raspberry, Blackcurrant.

Midway - Funnel cake, caramel apple, cotton candy, salt water taffy and sugar tart. Lust - Red musk, patchouli, ylang ylang and myrrh. Darkness - Blackest opium and narcissus deepened by myrrh. Wet: More than anything, I'm getting a Lust type of scent here, minus the patchouli. There's something that almost smells like.. red wine? It's note a note listed in any of the scents, but I'm wondering if that's coming from a mix of Lust and Midway. A juicy, sweeter Lust, maybe? Dry: I'm still getting that wine scent, and I'm going to take a guess as to why - the taffy and cotton candy from Midway and the red musk from Lust? (I'm just going to convince myself that made sense.) Anyway, I would say the scent is still very Lust dominant, but it's backed up by the sweetness that Midway brings in. Nothing in here is reminiscent of Darkness to me. This scent was not at all what I was thinking it would smell like, but I am INTO IT. If you went in hoping for a stronger Midway scent, I think you may be disappointed though.

Wet: Unsurprisingly, this is a fairly even mix of Sugar Cookie and Snow White so far! Dry: Snow White ends up being stronger than Sugar Cookie on me (like a 75/25 split); it smells like Snow White being gently warmed by sugar cookies. (So think cold, icy florals backed by warm sugar cookies.) Sugar Cookie Snow White > Snow White. That's right.

Café De Olla Fried Ice Cream Jammed Into A Coconut Cream Pie
donkehpoo replied to Seajewel's topic in Gifts with Donation or Purchase
Wet: I had to sniff this one many, many times to try and describe what I was smelling. This is going to sound weird, but this is the best description I've got - coconut cream soda with a hint of cinnamon. Dry: Pretty spot on to the wet stage, only more coconut. Not my jam.- 20 replies

FYI - I do have skin sensitivity to cinnamon, and my skin turned bright red where I applied this. Wet: Cocoa powder and pastry dough. It's like the beginning stages of baking, it just needs to be thrown into the oven! Not getting any coffee scents here. Dry: Funnel cake lightly dusted in cocoa powder and cinnamon. Not getting more of a tiramisu scent, so depending on what you're looking for (and your skin chemistry), this might be a little disappointing. Me, however.. yes. Into this.

Iced Apple Dumplings Plopped Into A Sweet Potato Pie
donkehpoo replied to Seajewel's topic in Gifts with Donation or Purchase
Wet: Baked apples and HEAVY spices. Dry: Spices, spices, and more spices. No apples, no icing, no sweet potato, no pie crust, nada. Not really my jam. I love baking spices, but not on their own.- 17 replies

These long-dead scents are back for a limited time in a slightly tweaked form! A raven-haired Fairy Queen of Ireland. One of her eternal duties dictates that she must hold a midnight court every season and hear the pleas of married Irishwomen. The court serves only to determine whether or not husbands are adequately serving their wife's sexual needs. A judicious yet powerfully sensual blend, a mingling of justice and sexuality: sage, sweet pea, bold pale musk and warm tonka. (Side note: I haven't tried the original, so I can't really do a comparison.) Wet: Sweet, warm musk, and hint of sage. This is very light on the skin; I had to do multiple swipes with the imp wand to get a good sniff. Dry: I don't think I would describe this as a "warm" musk anymore; it's very clean smelling. It's mostly musk, and sage on me. Sweet pea is a note I really enjoy, but I'm not getting any from this. I'm not sure where the tonka is hiding, either. (This is still incredibly light on the skin, btw.) I'll set this aside to re-test in a few weeks, but it's not really working for me right now.

Wet: BOOZE. Straight up peach brandy, no Snake Oil (yet). Dry: Peach brandy and patchouli. It's not really reading as Snake Oil; it's more like it's hinting that it's LEADING to Snake Oil, but never fully gets there. I expect, as with other S.O. scents, that the Snake Oil will come out more with some aging. Right now, this is a like, but not love.

This is a Perfume About My Dog Eating Peaches
donkehpoo replied to Seajewel's topic in Event Exclusive Oils
Wet: Peach flavored marshmallow. Dry: Oooo, okay. This is more like toasted marshmallows, with extra vanilla, and peaches. (Not really like a fresh peach, but not canned peaches either; somewhere in between. Maybe a peach that's been cut up and sitting in the fridge for a day or two?) The toasted marshmallow + vanilla scent is stronger than the peach on me. Another winner! -
Wet: Oh man. The more I smell this, the more I like it. Lots of sweet peach and vanilla cream. I'm getting a slight pastry-ish note that must be the "wafer", but it's not very strong. I keep going back and huffing it, because so far it's THAT good. YUM. Dry: It might be be too soon.. but.. I.. love.. this? The peach is more syrupy and still plenty sweet, backed up by that vanilla cream. The pastry note is maybe more cake-ish now? I can't figure out what I really think about it other than "pastry!" Overall, this scent is totally up my alley. Really stoked about this.

Wet: Shockingly.. vanilla and pear! More pear than vanilla. The pear smells very fresh, like biting into a pear and getting a big whiff of vanilla along with it. Something smells borderline floral or maybe "green" in here as well. Dry: Okay, so comparing this to both The Vine and The Perilous Parlor - this has the most prominent pear scent out of the three, and smells the most "fresh". The pear is MUCH more dominant over the vanilla here, and I'm still getting that faint floral/green note in the background. IMO, as a pear lover, this is worth it even if you own the other scents mentioned.

Wet: Oooo! Sparkling, sugary sweet citrus! Gorgeous yuzu and pink grapefruit. (Very much a "HI WAKE UP HEY THERE WHAT'S UP" type of scent so far.) Dry: My sparkling citrus scent has gone a bit... flat. Not so "sparkling" anymore; that fun effervescence from the wet stage is totally gone. I think I'll stick to Squirting Shoggoth or Pink Grapefruit and Pomelo.

Disclaimer: I don't like Smut, but I DO love Snake Oil. Wet: Cardamom and Smut. I'm incredibly surprised that I don't detect Snake Oil.. anywhere? Dry: Okay, so this blend did a total flip flop on me... now I can only smell Snake Oil. (A "softer" Snake Oil, but still.) ... ... Well then. I love Snake Oil, but if I wanted to just wear Snake Oil... I would!
-
Wet: Very distinctly "apple", with a hint of that potpourri scent I tend to get from apple fragrances. Oh no. It almost smells.. applesauce-like? Dry: The faintest hint of apple. I can smell it, it's there, but I have to get my nose thisclose to my skin in order to smell it. Nope. (To be fair, apple is a note that tends to not work well for me... but I keep trying, damnit.)
-
Wet: Pear! Pear and white musk. Effervescent. This smells similar to what I imagine a pear sparkling water would be like. Dry: A very soft musky pear. Very little throw. As much as I love pear, this didn't do a lot for me. A little bit too light for my taste.
-
Wet: Good LORD, that is some STRONG. ASS. HONEY. The marzipan definitely comes through, but HONEY. Dry: Finally, a nicely balanced honey marzipan. The honey is more of that toffee-like honey, and the marzipan is.. well.. marzipan. These blend together seamlessly on my skin, and just smell GOOD. Definitely hanging on to my decant. Not sure if this one will need a big bottle upgrade, since I'm not craving honey scents too often.

Wet: Jasmine incense, with a small amount of vanilla cream. Dry: Very, very strong jasmine incense. Jasmine basically punted most of the other notes. It feels very much like a "spring incense".. if that's a thing. As someone who tends to amp jasmine, I'm not really surprised here.
-
Wet: A realistic, fresh peach! Sweet, and a little "warm". Dry: Still super peachy, but I'm getting a whiff of the apricot and some of the rice milk as well now. It's not as in-your-face as before, and it stays very close to the skin while still being an easily-identifiable peach scent. Does that make sense? If you like peach scents, you'll probably dig this.

Wet: Oooo, mandarin and amber! Like a warm citrus hug. Dry: This faded quite a lot, sadly. Not much citrus remains at all, and instead of a warm citrus hug, it's more of a warm.. powdery hug? I think I'll keep the decant and use it as a room fragrance.
