This reminds me of a woodsy version of Morocco... where Morocco was the dry sandy version during the day, this one is the murky darkness of the Market after hours.
-
My nose must be really weird but on me it smelled like rose dribbled with cinnamon. Really like it though Considering a large bottle of it. I didnt get any mandarin at all.
-
This is just drop dead gorgeous - its everything I'd hoped that Snow White was and more. Creamy soft floral without being too cloying, and its wonderful layered with a drop of Morocco. I am so glad I managed to get my hands on a bottle of this.
-
This ends up a very soft violet on me - almost no throw whatsoever and it fades out within 30 minutes. A pretty scent, quite feminine but a little too ethereal for me.
-
The throw on this one was amazing - I got wafts of it for hours. Wet - Tart here, green Granny smiths with the sour tang that makes your mouth pucker Dry - Golden apples, the kind with the flesh that is slightly over ripe and the scent bursts out of the skin when you bite into it. Its almost too sweet on me, but there is something about it that is really appealing - maybe best as a room scent in my house.
-
This is a lovely scent - its fresh and fruity without being cloyingly sweet. It reminds me of the scent of Asian pears after you bite into them with the juices running down your hand. Definately getting a bigger bottle of this.

I love the smell of Michael by Michael Kohrs, but I like the staying power and oomph of BPAL's oils. Is there anything out there in BPAL's line up that smells something along the lines of Michael? The blurb for Michael's description on Sephora.com is as follows: Michael by Michael Kors is tuberose reinvented. Creamy florals explode into exotic spices, tamed by Moroccan incense. Notes: Dewy Freesia, Tamarind, Chinese Osmanthus, Incense, Fresh Tuberose, White Wings Peony, Blue Orris, Arum Lilies, Cashmere Woods, Musk, Vetiver Haiti. thanks!

I started out loving this scent. In the bottle its rich and creamy - dead on for a glass of eggnog. The smell is good during the wet phase but then when it dries I end up with a waxy vanilla smell - also sort of Play Doh like. Going to have to let go of this one. Luckily I looooove Gingerbread Poppet so my Yule order wasnt completely a bummer.

I'd love this on a man - its crisp clean and confident smelling - it would go fabulously with a suit. I want to bury my nose into the neck of a man that smells like this. It sort of reminds me of Cool Water. Dont care for it on me though. Will have to make the man try it on.

The wet stage of this was a very sharp scent - woodsy - made me think of sandalwood even though it doesnt list it on the description. It might have been the bergamot but I'm normally used to smelling bergamot with rose that I wasn't able to pick out the individual notes. The dry stage was much more pleasant - a mellow sweetness that reminded me a bit of baby powder and the sharpness faded away completely. Unfortunately this drifted into nothingness within about 30 minutes on me.

This one was a freebie from the Lab. The vanilla takes over on my skin and ends up being too cloying. Its not sweet, but theres something about it that makes me think of a closed up room, headache inducing.
-
This ended up being the tartest and most bitter grapefruit on me - it reminded me of household citrus cleaner smell. Over time the scent smoothed out a little but it just was too bracing for my nose. Makes me think of a blazing fluorescent white.

This is one of those scents I can't seem to decide if its just ok or if I love. Its a dry warm and spicy scent on me - the sandalwood is a prominent note, and it makes me think of dusty hot winds, pulling a scarf over my face to protect my skin from the whipping of sand. Exotic and mysterious, sniffing it very close to my skin actually makes me think of the smell when you blow out a candle and the wisp of smoke lazily rises upwards. This fades really fast on me. I went to reapply it and accidentally swiped Hellcat over it.. ugh that was a nasty combination of booze and charred wood. But after fiendishly rubbing off that forsaken pair - and going back to Morocco its really growing on me. Sort of as a belly warming scent.

In the Imp: Candy sweet, like sugared peaches covered with a scoop of melting vanilla ice cream. Unfortunately soon as I put this on it goes right to sandalwood baby powder on me. Off to the swaps it goes.

Delicious - the gingersnaps with the crispy edges and chewy middle. Very foody and the blend is just amazing. I am so glad I went out and bought it sight unsmelled - absolutely scrumptious and I want to gnaw on my own arm. The waft is very nice as well and I could still smell a bit of it this morning after applying it last night.

In the vial: A strong strong waft of buttered caramel popcorn Wet: Mulled apple cider and caramel apples - maybe the peach is smelling apple-y to me but I cannot stop sniffing myself. This is a very strong spicey scent at first - I only put a little swipe and its wafting all over the room. Dry: The apple smell as receded and I'm getting a delicious mellow pumpkin pie now, with the mulled cider complete with cinnamon stick to swirl on it. This is an extremely foody scent on me and absolutely delicious, and its both comforting and sexy. The innocent pumpkin kicked up with the spice to draw someone closer for a nuzzling sniff. Big bottle - absolutely scrumptious

It starts out in the imp very chocolatey... that deep rich cocoa coating french truffles. I can make out some light floral swirled with the honey, but the top note is the chocolate. On the skin the chocolate starts to fade and the honeyed wine comes to the forefront to dance with the musky floral. Holy cow this is incredible. Very adult, the kind of scent that a woman who knows how to hold a man's gaze long enough to get him walking across the room towards her. Its what commercial perfumes aspire to be. Just beautiful - my second 10ml bottle for sure. ADDED Feb. 13: I finally got my 5ML of Kali and its everything it was in the imp and more. I've been layering it with Old Morrocco to give it just a hint of spice and it is to die for. I do find myself reapplying every couple of hours. I could swim in this stuff.

In the imp: Mmm... the waft of almonds and orange peel is delicious. I can't quite get the rose or the spices but it smells scrumptious. Wet: Theres the rose, and the spice is starting to peek out a little. I'm hoping the rose stays in check but my skin tends to take the rose notes and amplify it to the nth degree. Dry: Gah... rose... thats all there's left.. rose. Wait... the nutmeg and clove are peeking out which is starting to overshadow the rose, I'm liking it more long as I can get through that rose phase. I'll have to try this after my period's over.

In the imp: Very subtle - the first thing that poked out at me was the scent of honey - very reminiscent of O Wet: Hmm.. its warming up, very much becoming a skin scent, flushed and definately sexy but it doesnt waft much and I have to press my nose against my wrist to really get it. This is a get up close and personal sort of smell. The myrrh gives it a little bit of spice, and that initial honey note is gone, the best way I could describe it is languid. Like dark molasses oozing over your skin. Dry: I liked it better coming right out of the imp - and wish that the honey note stuck around. Actually I'm liking it more as time goes on but its so close to the skin that I'd have to coat myself in it for any throw. I'll use up the imp and may want a 5ml of this one

I've found my first 10ml bottle! In the bottle: Coconut, but not the overly sweet smell of Mounds candy.. more like shaven coconut or coconut juice. Wet: Good Lord.. this is the first BPAL that I seriously want to DOUSE myself in from head to toe. I was standing in the Black Broom and swiping it over my wrists and neck and behind my ears and rubbing it all over. The scent is positively intoxicating, sweet but not cloyingly so - it doesnt smell like candy - the musk really counters the foodiness. Dry: I was sitting in a hot car in traffic coming down from LA and I just exhuded this aura of coconut goodness. It made me think of lazy hot afternoons laying in the sand with a romance novel, pages stained with suntan oil. If I could eat me I would. I got home and my husband jumped my bones. This is the first BPAL that he didnt wrinkle his nose and tell me I smell like incense. love love LOVE. The Black Broom was all out of it.. and I was muchly sad. I drove all the way up there hoping to not have to wait for it to ship from BPAL and get instant gratification. Alas... into the queue I go. Update: I am really really sad now. I got a 10ML of this (after having had 3 imps of the stuff) and it smells different . Its too much hazelnut and iris and I cant make out the coconut anymore. It actually makes me sort of sick smelling it now. I can't get over how much I loved it originally and now I cant stand to wear it. I've kept it to see if it would smell different at other times of the month and it doesnt. It didnt pass the 5 minute wash off test. Have to get rid of it now.

In the vial - an intriguing cherry almond scent, sweet. Wet - The cherry is completely gone and the almond is fighting it out with the musk, its starting to get really spicy.. and I have the faint smell of... feet, or armpit.. I'm kind of torn which it smells more like. Dry - ugh... the armpit smell has taken over and I need to wash this off. I loved it in the vial.. pesky skin chemistry. I wanted to like this one too.

In the vial: Overwhelming patchouli, not sure I'm going to like it - it smells really strong. Wet: Patchouli, a very biting scent with the ginger that is starting to peek out, trying to hold on to see if this mellows out some when it dries. Dry: Holy change-a-rooni. The dry down is gorgeous, and I cant seem to get my nose away from my wrist. The orange blossom starts to warm up and copulate with the ginger, the patchouli receding to a spot leaning up against the wall to watch. It sweetens up some and becomes very inviting. I didnt care for the wet phase much at all as I found the patchouli to be a bit too spicy, but it was worth the wait. Going to have to get a bigger bottle of this. *sniffing more*

In the vial: Soft, white, more ylang ylang than rose, the hint of roses. Wet: UGH... turned right to ROSE ROSE ROSE up your nose rose. Roses crammed into a small windowless room. The creamy sweetness I smelled in the vial is totally gone. stupid chemistry. Dry: All it is is rose but now its the dusty sitting room wilting roses in a bowl, cloying, as if the room needs a window open very badly. Musty. If you dont like roses, really like roses - I'd warn against this one - I had to run and wash it off because it was giving me a head ache.
-
Its a heavy cloying scent on me, maybe I put on too much, the vanilla and neroli seem to over power it on me and it makes me a little dizzy. ADDED Dec. 5: In the bottle: SWEET very fruity.. not in that fake body spray sense, but very ripe, over ripe and skin bursting with juices. I cant make out any rose, its very nearly cloying, but something about it is extremely compelling. Wet: Still very sweet, the fruit is starting to mellow out some, and soften - not quite so punch you in the face. Dry: I can't seem to stop sniffing myself, my sister thinks that it makes me smell like prune juice but I think she's nuts. I've tried this layered with Scherezade to sweeten up the spices a bit and it was positively edible. Big bottle order already made.

This turned out to be a powdery vanilla incense on me that gave me a bit of a head ache. After all the great reviews I wanted to like it but I dont think that vanilla works too well with my skin. I keep sniffing it and wanting to like it but its not happening.
