Yes, Perversion would be a great choice as it's very strong and already has tobacco and booze notes in it, so that would work with the environment. See, I can't really do citrus in the clubs (it's been so long). I used to wear a custom blended oil which was clove, nutmeg and a drop of cinnamon. Loved it. Spices can come off nicely at the rock shows. On the Patchouli subject, hell yes. Go for it. Like I mentioned before, the first scent which came to my mind was Anne Bonny, which has the red patchouli in it. But, I also thought that Ravenous might be good for a club night as well. The orange blossom is pretty clean and the red patchouli gets it smutty and dirty. Love that scent and it has TONS of throw.

Well, spacekitty, whatcha got? (Your collection link isn't working for me for some odd reason.) I would suggest something with a good amount of throw and great lasting power, but low on the florals as I've found they go icky when exposed to too too much smoke and haze (this could be my chemistry, though). Maybe something resinous like Anne Bonny. Dark sexuality like Sin could work too. Or, you could go musky/foody/resinous like Blood Kiss. Something a bit darker and stronger can work in a club setting, so feel free to try something that you wouldn't wear normally b/c it's too strong.

This is my first lunar oil, as I am currently infatuated with everything poppy-scented, heh. I don't think I'll shirk them again, as I have fallen deeply in love with Sleepy Moon. In the bottle: A lovely green floral, but not too clean and bright. More along the lines of a crocus poking its head out from the sleeping earth to herald the coming of spring. On (wet): I'm getting a lot of poppy here (my skin loves it and I adore my chemistry for once) and it's lovely. The lavender is peeking out and the soft sweetness of chamomile is also apparant, but still subtle in this phase. On (dry): Oh my gosh, this is lovely. The lavender and the chamomile come forward to soften the poppy and make this an absolutely lovely herbally floral scent. I am in love, I tell you. Overall: I've already purchased another bottle from the lj community, that is how much I love this scent. It's going to be my springtime scent. It's fresh without being overly "clean".

I had very high hopes for Katharina when I put her on my wish list. Unfortunately, we were not compatable. The apricot started out too strong and the orange blossom went too-too sweet. It's a wonderful scent, but it is just far to sweet for my nose. I love orange blossom and I love apricot, but the two together are too much for me because my chemistry amps both.

Imp came from a swap. In the imp: Apricot preserves and spice....YUM!! On (me wet): Very sticky and sweet apricot preserves. There is a hint of spice which gives it an almost Yankee-candle smell to it. I hope it cools off a bit... On (Me drydown): Oh now, it calmed down and I really like this. It's very sweet-sour apricot with a spike of clove! It's absolutely wonderful This smells more like the apricot fruit at its most ripe with a little dusting of clove. I don't know if it's a bottle purchase as we're getting out of winter right now, but I will probably buy a bottle at the end of summer for fall/winter next year!

I got this in a swap. I've been wanting to try some more MTP blends lately anyway, due to this coming spring! Imp: Gingery tea, a touch of cream and the linen smell is dead on. On me: I have no clue what happened here, but this went very sour on me. It was a very odd sour note over fresh linens. I washed it off, it's just not working for me and my chemistry. Overall: Nope, not doing it for me, loves. I hope I can find it a happy home!!

I got this from a swap with a forumite who almost had to twist my arm to take it, heh. I'm glad she did! In the imp: SPICES! This smells like a Middle Eastern spice shop, I swear. It's very intriguing, although I am wondering if this is going to work. On (wet): I'm cringing, waiting for the rose in the blend to take over and make me cry and....NOPE! The spices take over and initially, I smell like spices being toasted to "warm up" the flavor. these are sweet spices, though. Lovely. The sandalwood begins to peek out here. On (15 min later): Sweet incence of the sandalwood variety. One of my fave incenses from a long-defunct new-age shop I used to frequent in my college years comes to mind...Rose/Sandalwood. The rose barely peeks out from the blend here, the wood/spice notes staying in the foreground. I'm still not sure I love this, but it is nice. On (1 hr later): Oh, this is the stuff. Lovely. The amber finally shows up and softens, no blurs, this scent a bit. It is sweetened and I'm so glad amber loves my skin as much as I love it!! This is a lovely blend. I very much love this phase!! It's slightly-sweet-spicey with just a hint of floral. Gorgeous! So skin-close as well. I love fragrances that stay close to the skin!! Overall: I'm still not sure I'll make this a bottle purchase, but I'll hang on to the imp. It's absosmurfly beautiful.

Morocco, Bow and Crown of Conquest and Bathsheba are my fave carnation scents. Bathsheba is very sweet and musky. Morocco is very spicey and woody. B&CoC is very similar to Morocco w/o so much spice. It's a bit more carnation-y to my nose as well. Alice was wonderful on me, but it was a bit too girlish at the time. I do remember the carnation taking the lead in that scent. I think I'll have to re-try it.

This is gorgeous. I'm really loving Beth's orange blossom perfumes these days. They are lovely and so perfect for spring!! Imp: Very concentrated orange blossom. I get a hint of the patchouli underneath, but the orange blossom is dominant. On: Mmmm...yes, that's the stuff. The orange blossom sings in the beginning and makes this ever-so-flowery and fresh. In this blend, the orange blossom does have a very fresh, almost green, orange feel. Lovely! Drydown: The patchouli comes out and makes this one.hot.momma. It really sexes up this blend. It is a lovely combination. I have decided that I love Red Patchouli, but black patchouli is a flip-flop for me. Overall: Definitely a bottle purchase. Love it. LOVE IT!

This was gifted to me by a very generous forumite... you know who you are and I you!! Imp: Violets and spice. I get a heavy clove note in the bottle. On me (wet): Very strong on the violets (which is good for me because I LOVE violets) with an underscore of spice and woods. Near the end of the wet phase, the clove really comes out to play. On me (dry): Oh jeebus. I need to stop being enabled or I will have to have another child and sell him or her to support my BPAL habit. Seriously, this turns into the perfect Violet scent I have been looking for for a while. The violet recedes just a tinge and the tonka and spice come forward to play some more. I love this. It has a similar feel to Morocco, but with Violets. I would say this is a purple, regal, velvet scent. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous. Overall: If you like violets, GET THIS NOW! I absolutely loved it. This is not your grandma's violet, ladies. This is violet dressed up in some six-inch whore shoes to dance the night away with some rich Italian man named Sergio!

In long-ago Arabia, harem girls rubbed an herbal poultice formed from a blend of sensual, luxuriant herbs and oils onto their bodies to prepare themselves for the Sultan’s pleasure. This lush, indulgent perfume is based on that ancient formula. Sweet almond and Mysor sandalwood enveloped by a heady veil of Bulgarian Rose, neroli, nutmeg, clove and orange peel. This really didn't work for me. My quest for a rose scent I continues....I refuse to give up!! In the imp: Mmm...marzipan and roses. For some reason, I thought of a Spanish or Mexican candy I seem to remember trying in childhood... On me: Hello Dana O' Shee with roses. At first, I was in love with this scent...but, as is my fate...the rose went postal and took my arm hostage. The sandalwood tried to negotiate, but in the end, the roses won. We just didn't get along. Well, I'll pass on the lerve, though b/c I am sure this would make a rose-lover very happy.

Oh, how I forgot what it is to bask in the golden lovelyness that is Bastet. Thanks to a kind forumite, I can now remember... In the bottle: Almonds and something tangy underneath. Ah...I know I'll be in love with this... On (wet): Sweet almonds with something spicey and tangy hiding underneath. I believe this is the saffron. I also get a light resin note at this time. Oh, this is pretty....but wait! There's more.... On (drydown): Oh dear Bastet, how could I have put you off for so long?? The almond goes to the background lending a slight sweetness while the amber, lotus and saffron come out to play. The myrrh lends some grounding to this scent and keeps it from being too fierce. This is sexy as all get out. Overall: This is the scent of a yellow-eyed black cat basking in the golden sun. I have been looking for a sexy summer scent, and this is it. It captures the sexy langor of summer, but the lotus and almond lend a lazy playfulness to the scent, making it the purrrrrrfect tribute to this Goddess.

And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword. Mandarin, tonka, saffron, black tea, cocoa, tobacco leaf, sanguine red musk and five classical herbs of conflict. Mike tried this one and I am going to review it from smelling him (a fave past time of mine when he's wearing sexy BPAL stuffies) In the imp: Hello Tezcatlipoca. Seriously, this smells very similar to Tez in the imp. But it shows its true colors soon enough... On: Oh wow! This was extremely hot on Mike. A soft cocoa takes the stage in the early stages on this scent. It's grounded and it does not run rampant, but it is like fine mexican cocoa powder... it's dead sexy. Drydown: Musk comes forward and makes this baby really sing. There is a feral feel to it now. The mandarin orange lights up here too, making it feisty and very sexy. This is Tezcat without the regal, godlike feel...this is Tezcat on a rampage! There is no leather note, but it is spicey with a musky-citrus bite! Overall: This is on the list. However, I do feel the need to warn the women of the board...this is a dead sexy scent and be fully prepared for other women to hit on your man while he's wearing it. Good stuff, good stuff!

Floral Recs for those who usually don't like florals
judas_kiss replied to Neko's topic in Recommendations
Yeah, I got a sweet little floral note from it. So very pretty. Makes me feel all girly down to my toes... -
This was one I was sure would work, but for some reason it didnt... Bottle: Surgared musk. Just like it said!! YAY! I sugar and I musk. On (wet): This goes VERY musky on me. Underneath it all, though, there is something "off". I cannot even describe it. It's just off. It gave me a teeny headache, unfortunately. But, I persevered. On (dry): Oh, this is beautiful. Very light skin scent. I get the top note of musk and it's beautiful b/c it's chilled out significantly. The sugar is there, but it is more of a brown sugar...softer, sweeter. Finally, the booze I get here is a cognac and oh is it lovely. Overall: I got a lot of staying power from this blend. It remained true to its drydown after going to bed that night. We're talking about 24 hrs of staying power from one little swipe with a Q-tip. Unfortunately, I just cannot go through the "off" phase again. I love you Smut, but you broke my heart.... Luckily, I have found you a new home where you will be loved for who you are. It's not you, Smut, it's me.

My initial impression of this in the imp was that it would be very manly on and thereby unwearable for me. I was wrong. This stuff is AWESOME on a woman or a man. On (wet): I get a very familiar feel to this one. Almost like Morocco, really. This is due to the woody-carnation I believe. At this point, it is an almost duplicate of Morocco on my skin. On (dry): Oh, this warms up and softens up nicely. Where Morocco is sexy-sweet, this is soft and almost mournful. It's almost like you can feel regret from the individual destined to burden this terrible destiny. However, this has a haughtiness to it as well as this sadness. Amazing. If this had a color, I would say the pink of the sunset when the sun is merely a sliver on the horizon. Overall: This smelled just as good on Mike and so it will certainly go on our to purchase list. It's gorgeous. Actually, all of the scents in this collection are amazing!! Beautiful job, Beth. You never cease to amaze me!!

Floral Recs for those who usually don't like florals

Desdemona would be lovely, I think. Very sweet, light and slightly watery w/o being aquatic. Carnation, sweet pea and lily, I believe. Regan also might be nice. I seem to recall its being very light and pretty as well. That said, my fave for sweet and light floral would be Xiuhtecuhtli. I ordered a five mL for summer. ETA: Paris! OMG, I cannot believe I forgot this one. This one is lovely. Lotus and Lavender. It is a unique combination, to be sure but it works somehow. Very soft, sweet and clean w/o being "antiseptic" or "dryer sheet". Gorgeous. I love this on others, but I cannot wear it for some reason. -
Another vote for Snake Oil. It's gutsy and spicey and YUM. Warning, though, when it's fresh, I get a slight sweet almond note from it. When it's aged a month or so, the almond fades and you're left with a sweetly nutty base for the Vanilla to really sing. It's fargin' gorgeous.

Hmm...this has Rose in it...my arch-enemy. Well, let us see where zis goez.... (God I that character from the Matrix!) In the imp, honey and flowers. On: Oh, this smells gorgeous initially. Honey, cream and orange blossoms. This is O, only floral. And then...that...ROSE! Yep, it didn't even wait to dry-down to be heard. Had to wash this off, it was just too much rose for me. Off to the swaps with you, Jez. Too bad the rose couldn't play nice like in Catherine. I'm sorry that my chemistry loves you more than I do. It's not you, it's me, Rose. Really.

I knew this would work for me by the description. Oh be still my heart, this is gorgeous!! This one's a morpher, though, so be prepared! Anyway... In the bottle: This is, as many have said, very sweet. I thought of dulce de leche when I first sniffed this. Mmmm, I know I'm gonna love this. On (wet): Oh wow, coconut and caramel and something underneath which keeps it from being too-too sweet (I think this is the tobacco). On (initial dry phase): Oh, now I get a tobacco/leather/coconut concoction which is just like Perversion's drydown w/o the booze note. Oh, I'm loving this, believe me!! Final drydown: The amber comes out to play and, as Macha says, makes this scent very pretty. However, this is not a powdery amber, nor is it an overly resinous amber. It is a very light, a little incensey amber and it is sweet enough to combine with the other notes and play nice. I get a touch of the opium and that spices things up a bit, but not too much! All the notes comes together to make a smokey-sweet perfume that is just heavenly!! Overall: This is a KEEPER! This is a lovely, full-bodied scent. Elegba eventually went too much the tobacco way for me whereas this does not. It's just gorgeous. I would advise that lovers of Perversion check this one out b/c it it has similarity to the Perv, yet it is more mysterious and devine!!

Normally, my body rejects any BPALs with rose in them like a babboon heart. That said... In the imp: Mmm, sharp (and I mean razor sharp) Orange blossoms. On, wet: This is a very sharp scent. The orange blossom, usually verging on soapy (good thing) on me is sharpened by the rosemary. It is a bit cloying at first. I can see the correllation made to Estee Lauder in this initial phase. On, dry: Oh, this stuff is bad. I really do get a "evil, vile woman" vibe from this. It's not at all abashed at its wicked self, it proclaims it. It does calm down quite a bit and the orange blossom stays forward, while the rose sweetens things up a bit. This is great stuff, man. Overall: Don't know if I'll buy a bottle as I don't know where I'd wear such a wicked perfume. If I were a business woman, I think this would work great for boardroom politics and the like. It's clean, it's not overtly sexy and it says, I am ruthless and I will do what it takes to get what I want. Love it! Just don't think it will work too well for tot lot or parent teacher meetings, ha!

Sexy, Smutty, Seductive, Provocative... It's All in Here
judas_kiss replied to ipb's topic in Recommendations
The best reactions I have ever gotten are from O. Men have actually asked me in the grocery line, while trying to wrangle three kids, what perfume I was wearing! Not just one, either. Mike goes absolutely NUTS over the stuff and I think it's just yummy! Spanked is VERY sexy and, believe it or not, I'm going to agree with the Tombstone. Mike LOVES it on me, says it's very sexy. It's very different, to say the least. -
This one was from the Lab. In the imp: Rose, with a slight undertone of sweet violets. On: ROSE, but a crisp, young rose which has just been watered. This is an absolutely lovely scent for rose-lovers! If you are looking for a crisp, sweet (not foody, though) rose, this is it. The violet does not show up enough on my chemistry to really come forward at anytime, unfortunately. Dry: Still rose, still no violets. Pretty, though. Overall. This is a VERY strong one with a LOT of throw. I had one teeensy swipe on my hand and it lasted well into the evening and stayed pretty true. I'm not too into roses these days, so I will be swapping this one away, unfortunately.

When you need something comforting or cheering

Snake Oil b/c of its comforting sensuality. Dorian b/c it's rather cheerful in a understated way. Dana O'Shee b/c it's so "mother-y" smelling. -
Bravery, Courage, Confidence, Intimidation, Power

There wasn't anything sweet about Pride on my skin. It was all haughty-rose. Very feminine, yet untouchably so. I can't wear it, b/c my chemistry amps the rose to where it is unbearable, but it smells great on my friend. Perfect blend between the two. Another suggestion I might make, if you're not opposed to scents with a slight masculinity to them, is Whitechapel. This scent always says to me, "I will go straight for your jugular, and I will smell gorgeous doing it." I also like Dracul for those days where I need to channel my inner ball-buster. This one is smokier and rather sexy, but it also has a certain "Alpha" quality to it that screams "predatory". (PRobably the musk!) Good luck, and go get 'em, tigress!
