I have wanted to try this bad girl out for a while. Anyway, in the imp, I got a very sweet rosey tobacco with a dark undercurrent. Tobacco was the dominant note to my nose. I put it on and well, I have decided that I cannot do wine/rose or wine/berry combos anymore as they both just war it out on my skin and I am caught in the crossfire. This morphed on me much the same as Blood Rose and Blood Countess did: from a gorgeous, seductive perfume when wet to a kind of a potpourri scent as it dried down. Gods, I hate hate hate my chemistry sometimes.

I got this as a frimp. After trying this one and Kali, I have decided that, for the most part, I just cannot do rose. This was nothing but a very sweet, fresh tea rose on me. No spices or anything, just sweetie rose. Pretty, but just not where I am at these days. Gotta find this pretty little girl a lovely new home.

Okay, I ordered a bottle of this unsniffed. I obviously do not need to give the boy's impressions as he posted above. In the bottle, chocolate, but expensive and almost boozy chocolate. Oh gosh, I do not want to smell like a black Russian. I was feeling very tentative at this point. On: Oh dear sweet Beth, you are a genius. The initial sock of COCOA wears off very quickly and leaves me with a sweet, spicey, woody chocolate smell. The sandalwood brings a depth to this that, combined with the vanilla/cocoa, makes me feel just devine! I feel hedonistic and sensual. There is an almost floral sweetness to this, but don't let that scare you off because it very quickly fades. Hours later, this was very much like Snake Oil, but chocolatey. Spicey, woody, but the vanilla comes out more and the cocoa note is here throughout. Overall..I am SO glad I bought this unsniffed. This was everything I wanted CSP's Amor de Cocao and Bvlgari's Omnia to be. For the oriental/gourmand lovers out there, this is a must-try. I will be keeping this little darlin' in my arsenal for years to come.

Yeah, I especially love it when my son does it. He snuffles my neck and just sighs and says, "Mommy". I just huggle him so tight. I have to say, I never got this reaction from them with other perfumes I like to wear. It must be because the BPAL I like usually stays close to the skin.

Dana O Shee was wonderful for those first few weeks little ickle baby was home. However, now he's older, I have really adopted Snake Oil as my scent for everyday. It stays close to the skin and is sweet enough that my kids like it and spicy enough for me to feel like a sexay momma. I really don't like wearing too much "floral" perfume as it makes the little one sneeze a bit. My two oldest have kind of picked a fave...Morocco. My son or daughter will sit in my lap and just sniff away at the crook of my neck when I am wearing it.

Dracul's orange blossom is gorgeous, but it is a heavy, rather masculine blend. It might work for the upcoming winter, though.
-
I'd like to add a vote Dracul's way and add Blood Kiss to the mix. It's very potent and I get a bunch of throw from it. It's femme, but there is a masculine edge to it. It is a very "red" scent, but it's a smokey red. Think "Poppies...poppies...." from the Wizard of Oz".

Okay, I put on Whitechapel today to see if I got lilac and I got lilac/musk/slightly lime after the initial LIME phase wore off. Very nice scent, very pretty. I do agree, however, that this is not the smell of freshly cut lilac, but more of a powdery lilac smell. It smells so much better on my hubby.
-
To my nose, no. It is a very flowery-masculine fragrance and there are a lot of ladies in the forum who sing its praises. I would call it a "chilly" fragrance, for sure, though.
-
Whitechapel is very citrusey-lilac on my hubby. When it dries down, it appears to have a very heady, sweet lilac scent to it on him. However, many others have expressed they have gotten no lilac from it. From what I recall, Blood Countess did not have a heavy lilac note to it, it was more of a hint that just sweetened up everything else. I got a lot of berries, rose and wine in this one.

Thanks so much, I tried to search the lab, but for some reason, the search engine wouldn't work for me today.

At the risk of sounding perfectly ignorant...what is "Tum"?

I am going with the crowd here and say Morgause! Definitely a royal, purple scent. Gorgeous, simply gorgeous!

Floral Recs for those who usually don't like florals
judas_kiss replied to Neko's topic in Recommendations
I am also not a huge floral fan. I'm lovin' the sticky-sweet spicey woody stuff. Some recs... Morocco (This does have a bit of Carnation, but the woods, musk and spices really amp on me.) Dorian Blood Kiss Hellcat (Watch out, this is very foody on me, but on my hubby it seems to pick up a clovey-spicey smell that is lacking on me!) If you love Snake Oil, perhaps you should give Scherezade a try? I've heard wonderful things about it. Also, I'm waiting on bottles of Velvet (sandalwood and vanilla cocoa) and Sin (pathouli, amber, sandalwood and cinnamon); its supposed to be sexay. -
I got this from the lab as a freebie a while back, but was unable to handle the florals due to sensitive preggers nose. I tried it again today as my quest for finding a rose BPAL to replace Goutal's "Ce Soir" continues... In the Imp: Rose. Not the wet, juicy roses from Persephone or the sweet boozy ones from Blood Rose, very crisp and to the point. There is something a bit sweeter underneath, which I believe to be narcissus, as this always takes on a sweeter note to my nose. On: Very crisp rose. Not red, more of a white rose freshly cut from a lady's prize heirloom rose garden. This lady wears spotless gardening gloves and has "people". This fragrance is for days where you are feeling a bit full of yourself, or when you want to. The rose took over completely after the wet phase and pretty much amplified itself to the point where I needed to wash it off. It was just too strong for me today. I may want to try this again at a later date when I am feeling rosey. It is still not what I am looking for, but I am going to keep trying. Very great scent, especially for those who are looking for a scent that makes you stick your chest out and say, "Here I am, deal with all of me!"

I got this as a freebie from the lab a while ago. I smelled it in the imp while preggers and it just smelled like some sort of cleaning fluid to me then. I decided to give it a whirl now, since my nose isn't all crazy. In the imp: Lime and Jasmine. The lime is more of a lime peel, like another poster said. Not juicy at all to my nose, very soft. On me: Creamy lime and jasmine. The other notes must be giving this a very creamy feel to it. Very tropical, but without smelling like a lady's cocktail. This makes me want to wear my hair loose and walk barefoot on the sand at night in the tropics. Overall: Very lovely. Would work for summer. Not my deal, though. Just too...jasmine, I guess. Don't get me wrong, I like jasmine, but this is jasmine gone nutty on my skin. Those who love jasmine should give this a whirl, as it is a new take on it. I have not smelled anything quite like this before in the way of jasmine perfumes. Brilliant, just not me.

Ha! Very good, and actually, if memory serves, I think clove might have some aphrodesiatic properties. (Especially on the male of the species.) I used to wear a blend of clove, nutmeg, cinnamon and a touch of vanilla that I got custom blended by an old EO provider who has long since gone out of business. Oh, how the boys lerved that blend!

The Aztec names mess with me! Anyway, it is the short o for Goneril. Although I am uncertain if this is correct for the original Elizibethan pronunciation, I have always heard it with the short O in modern nights.

This was gifted to me by a sweetie forumite. In the bottle, this is very sweet. I cannot make out any notes really, but it is a sweet-woody scent. On! Wow! This is just gorgeous. Very soft, a sweet/spicey woody scent. I really love the way these come together. I do not get any definitive carnation scent, but the musk (soft) is prevalent as well as the spices and woods. I think the carnation is what sweetens it up a bit. This is not the sweetness you find in Dorian or Alice, but more of a light dusting of sugar. Overall, this is a beautiful scent. Definitely one I will buy as a big bottle. I don't know how Beth does it, but she's a precious, brilliant gem!!

Scents for pregnancy? Not recommended by the Lab

Aww! I was wearing Alice during my most recent labor! I remember it well. Right before I left for the hospital to be induced, I took a bath with the Lush Santa bath bomb that smelled like Potion, drenched myself in Potion, and then dabbed on some Alice, because I was missing my kids and the smell of it reminds me of my daughter. Yeah, Alice is special to me...definitely a great scent. -
In the vial: Sweet red roses, a bit of spice, a tangy wine scent in the background. Wet: This started off so pretty and very complex. It blended well into this very "wicked" floral scent. And by wicked, I mean, I felt almost malicious wearing it. It was devine. Very high born and cruel, yet not icey. There is a sensual throb to this, a blood-like quality. Very V:tM feel to this fragrance, a pretty subterfuge that hides a bloodthirsty, cruel monster who will drink you dry. Drydown (or crydown in my case):Waah..potpourri. Yep. Somehow the berry came out and made potpourri on me. I was sooo sad because it started off so wonderful! My chemistry must not be appreciating it.

Alrighty...I got this from the lab as a freebie. (Gotta love the benevolent labbies!) In the vial: Lily, no doubt about it. Very sweet lilies. On: The honey does sweeten up the scent a bit, but this is still a very strong floral on me. However, unlike most lily scents, this is not at all clean, but a rather "sunny" lily scent. Very fitting to its name, this fragrance. It brings to mind a better, sweeter version of Dirty Girl's bubble bath scent. Overall a lovely fragrance and one I had wanted to try. But, I have decided that lilies are most assuradly not my deal. Smells great on my little girl, though.

Well, I have looked everywhere and, besides the preggers rec's listings, I have yet to find a preggers/nursing/mommy thread, so I am going to go and put one in Randomness, if anyone wants to come play. -
From Excolo... Phantom Queen: An epithet of the Morrigan, crow-winged Celtic goddess of war, strife and fertility. Adoration of this Goddess is expressed both through the ecstasy of battle lust and the ecstasy of sexual regeneration. Black orchid, apple blossom, meadowsweet, and rue over Irish moss, hawthorn and red clover.

When you need something comforting or cheering
judas_kiss replied to oakmoss's topic in Recommendations
Oh, for me it is not what I wear that necessarily cheers me, but the scent of Dracul left behind on my husband's pillow that can cheer me. But, if that doesn't cure my woes, a bit of Dana O'Shee seems to help me quite a bit. Very comforting scent, especially when the kids are acting up as it reminds me of a fresh, clean baby which reminds me that they will always be my little babies, no matter what.
