Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)
Mayfair replied to Vanilla's topic in Recommendations
Ooh, I must try Antique lace then. I love Lush's soft jasmine fragrances (NOT a fan of Flying Fox and Youki-Hi though!). I would love to find a scent that smells like Sympathy for the Skin or the Glitterbugs. Therapy is one of my faves too. Any ideas? -
A true coconut smell. Fresh and creamy, light and crisp as the fruit. Not too sweet or foody, but just right. I'm absolutely kicking myself that I only ordered an imp of this, I'd give just about anything for a bottle right now.

Whe I applied this, the clove hit me first. A sweet, round clove, not too strong. The cinnamon gives it a warm, almost foody touch and the white pepper adds delicious sharpness. Like chili or pepper chocolate, though it doesn't smell of chocolate, but it's just the combo of sweet and spicy I'm getting.

In the vial Jack smelled extremely buttery. It reminded me strongly of Gluttony which did not work on me at all. On my skin however it turns so yummy and fruity with the clove and spices giving the peach a nice depth. I would have expected this to be more spicy actually and I cannot detect any pumpkin at all, but the fruitiness is still warm and foody. I like this scent a lot and I'm thinking it would also be great for warm summer nights. Definitely a 5ml for me!

I'm so glad I ordered a 5ml of this before it went. It's a very creamy and decadent vanilla, without being too sweet of foody. It has an almost powdery touch too it and reminds me of warm, soft skin touched by a creamy vanilla lotion. It is subtle, yet sensual.

Am I the only one smelling cherry in this??? In the vial and first on my skin this smells like chocolate hazelnut pralines (like Ferrero Rocher if anyone knows it or Nutella). After a while the cocoa shifts into the background and all I can smell are bright red, juicy cherries doused in rum. It's really fruity on me with a warm aura. The cherry note reminds me strongly of Blood Kiss, which unfortunately morphed into something very unpleasent on me. The cocoa is still there, although it is very subtle. This is what I expected Vice to smell like. If the sweet cherry note stays true, this is going to be my first 10 ml!

This is not a sweet honey at all. It's warm and very grown up, rich and almost intoxicating. It's an extremely sexy scent, even more so than O. Very strong too, you only need a tiny drop and it's still noticeable from a distance. Wow pretty much sums it up.

This was spicier than I had expected. It has a nice and yummy cookie fragrance, but is very buttery at the same time, and not in a pleasant way. It really reminds of Gluttony, which didn't agree with me at all. It must be the butter fragrance I guess.

I wasn't very impressed with my first Snow White experience. It was a milky almond scent at first, similar to Dana O'Shee and Snowcake. But it wasn't a pleasant, creamy smell on my skin, more sharp and artificial. It really made my tummy queasy, as it is a really strong scent as well. I could also smell coconuts, which I found odd in a winter scent. I wanted to love this so much and even bought a second bottle off someone else, but it just doesn't agree with me. I'll give it another try in a few days just to be sure, but I have already swapped one of the bottles for another one of Egg Nog, which was so much nicer.

Sweet brandy, dark rum, heavy cream, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg. Egg Nog is one of my favourite oils so far, and not just from the Yule blends! It's sweet, creamy and unobtrusive. A very subtle and gorgeous vanilla with a hint of spiciness and warmth from the rum. I'm sooo happy I have another bottle of this coming to me soon.

Similarities Between BPAL Scents - GC and general discussion

Does anyone else think that Kabuki and Hollywood Babylon are very similar? Kabuki is a bit more spicy, but apart from that they seem almost the same to my nose. -
Interesting complex flowery scent when wet. Couldn't really make out any single notes. Dries down to a very dark, yet slightly sweet, floral. There is a smoky note lingering in the background, which I'm guessing is the myrrh. I'm not getting any sandalwood at all. During the drydown stage it almost reminds me of Lush's Middle Earth soap, but a flowery Middle Earth, if that makes sense.

I sooo wanted to like this. I usually adore foody scents, the sweeter the better, but this one was very weird on my skin. In the vial it smelled foody indeed, but not sweet and yummy, but rather like something savoury. Olives perhaps? On my skin the hazelnut showed itself quite prominantly and I think I'm smelling butter as well. Unfortunately it is rather bitter nuts and butter gone bad. I find it so weird that I'm the only one getting this 'off' scent. I'm so gutted as I was sure I would love this one.

Nine Mysteries indeed, though I picked out only about six different notes. Out of the vial and when first applied this was pure peppermint, sweet and creamy. Like peppermint candy canes. I got some on my nose when I first sniffed it and it gave me that cool peppermint sting. This is the order of the different notes in which they appeared on my skin: peppermint - sharp and clean grapefruit -fresh and slightly bitter apricot - smelled almost like March hare with a touch of mint white flowers - couldn't pick out the exact flower but white and sweet, lilies maybe? white musk - clean and slightly powdery honey - sweet, yet slightly floral and bitter The apricot stage lasted quite a while on me. Now, several hours later, I cannot detect the mint anymore, just the slightly mature sort of honey. Overall a very complex and interesting scent (it's quite fun to try to figure out all the different notes ), but I'm not sure I would get a whole bottle of this.

I got this as an extra in a swap (thank you!) otherwise I don't think I would ever have tried it. (I'm not that fond of darkness in general). I have to say, that I tried it without reading the description first. Out of the vial it was a very dark and strong floral, with a bit of an edge. Having read the description now, I would say it must be the narcissus. On my skin all I can smell is that sweet opium scent, like the opium scented candles I used to burn as a teenager. It is very serious and sophisticated somehow, with a melancholy touch to it. Call me crazy, but it smells exactly like Chanel No 5 to me (which is a very good thing!). Being a huge Marilyn Monroe fan, I was immediately thinking of her when the Chanel association popped into my head. Darkness to me smells like Marilyn in her more melancholy moods: sensual, serious, vulnerable, alone, yet with a bitter sweet touch. Imagine a faint smile, while tears are cursing down your cheeks...

Excellent thread! Does anyone have recommendations for scents similar to Bewitched? I love the berries with the green touch, but found Bordello a touch too heavy. Any other nice berry scents?
