The scents that get you the most compliments?
moonstonemama replied to Scanmike's topic in Recommendations
The Unheavenly City. I wore it to work last Saturday, and several co-workers commented on how good it smelled. Just yesterday one of those co-workers was still talking about it! She said I smelled like a big delicious lollipop and wished more people would smell like that. -
Okay, I know I responded to this already too... but it was lost along with your post it seems. This did happen to me with a regular Lab order. My card wasn't charged until about 2 weeks after I got the order. I wouldnt worry about it. but I'm sure if you email Puddin he'd be happy to answer your question. There may or may not be anything he can do about it.

actually, you can choose another funding source for PayPal transactions. I've done that with my credit card instead of using instant transfers from my bank when I know I'd overdraft my bank account otherwise. There's a link under the default payment option that says "More Funding Options" and if you have the credit card already in your paypal account settings, you can choose that instead of instant transfer or your paypal balance.

omg, this is surreally beautiful! in the bottle: I get the jasmine and gardenia and something kinda sharp. I don't get any rose at all. wet: wow, that's musky and floral. it really does smell remarkably like Hell's Belle (which I loved from first sniff) 30 minutes later: creamy sugary candied violets and a hint of sexy musk. this is truly gorgeous, I can't stop smelling myself. I can't smell any rose, jasmine, or gardenia after drydown, which is almost sad since those are my 3 favourite florals, but I find I don't miss them at all in this blend. It's such an amazing scent. 5 out of 5, and I must acquire more.

in the bottle: sooo pretty! floral and fruity and made of beauty. wet: about the same, gorgeous. 30 minutes later: it's bright and playful. I can't stop smelling my wrist. This blend is just made of WOW! I can smell the melon and kumquat and peony and plum blossom... the fruity/floralness is just never ending, and that's okay.

in the bottle: spice spice spice wet: all I'm getting is spice. lots of clove. 30 minutes later: less spice, more "other stuff" I can't discern what though. It's nice, I think. It does remind me of Three Witches, only this is more complex. I'd swear I smell some honey in this. I think I like it. I think it's going to require some wearing to determine if it's a keeper.

in the bottle: woody and slightly boozy. wet: I definitely smell sandalwood, and it smells very stringent. 30 minutes later: this scent is handsome and dark. It's slightly spicy, not too woody, the sandalwood scent is all but gone, the bay rum has come out very nicely. This blend doesn't scream PIRATE, it's not overtly dirty or musky. It's not too masculine for me to wear, but if a guy were wearing it, I'd want to jump him. I'm definitely keeping Frederic

ooh! those are lovely! Thanks!!!

In the imp: aquatic, but still floral. sort of pale and seaweedy. wet: wow, a lot stronger and lots of rose 30 minutes later: almost all I can smell is rose. the pale aquatic is all but entirely gone. there is something that adds a hint of green, but its very faint. nicely balanced though. fortunately, I love rose. this scent is so relaxing and soothing, I'm already feeling less anxious and less stressed.

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)
moonstonemama replied to Vanilla's topic in Recommendations
My caveat is that sometimes Lush products smell as different to two people as BPAL scents do - but if Retread smells creamy and fruity with a dominant note of melon to you like it does to me, my suggestions might work. Earth Rat, which is still available on the LE page, is getting lots of raves from people who love melon notes, although I have not tried it yet. Yemaya is the only GC scent that lists melon as a note and seems dominantly melon (although Ogun contains it in the description, the other notes in it are really strong and people don't seem to smell a lot of melon in it). Also from the GC, Titania smells a little melony to a lot of people as does Tzadikim Nistarim, and some others that get "melon" comments in reviews although it's not a listed note are 51, Eris and Tweedledum. Harder to find LEs and discontinued scents that you might want to grab if you stumble on them: Mi Go Brain Canister, Ingenue, Blue Moon 07 and 04, Fruit Moon and Selkie. If melon is what you like about Retread you might want to try some of the BPAL cucumber or mango scents too, depending on what they're blended with, these notes can smell similar to some people. I actually don't get a lot of melon from Retread and its not sweet like melon usually is, to me it's slightly greener, but not herbal. I've ordered a bottle of Earth Rat already, and the decant I got smelled fruity and floral, but not a lot of melon. I've actually got a bottle of Blue Moon 07 (04 seems out of my reach) I'd love Selkie, it's been on my wishlist for a while but I haven't managed to get it. I'll keep my eyes out for Mi Go Brain Canister and Ingenue though. I'll have to see about getting an imp pack with those GC you mentioned when I make my next order, and give them a shot. thanks so much for the recs!!! -
Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

is there a BPAL that smells like Lush's Retread conditioner? I just love the way it smells! but when I put BPAL in my hair after using it the scents conflict or perhaps something that would compliment or enhance the smell of Retread? -
it's weird, but true. 2 of my friends really like coriander, which I can't stand. meanwhile I just LOVE cilantro, and they both hate it. I would be all over a BPAL blend that had a cilantro note in it!

when I placed my paypal forum scent order this afternoon, I put my forum name in the subject line, and just my order in the notes... does it matter that my forum name was in one but not the other?
-
I had a similar problem with both orders I tried to place today, I got emails saying my cards were declined. which is ridiculous, and my bank/cc company both told me the charges should have gone through with no problems. So I just copied the bottles I wanted into a paypal order, and used the same total from the ccnow order. but still really annoyed.

In the bottle: old fashioned floral perfume. it smells familiar somehow, like something my mom used to wear, or something of my mom's I used to borrow. I can't quite place it. Wet: the same as in the bottle. 30 minutes later: powdery vanilla disaster. I really thought I would love this, I thought the description sounded just gorgeous! I don't know how this went to vanilla on me, but that means I'll never wear it again and I have to wash it off soon or it'll give me a migraine.

I picked up a decant of Stress Relief Elixir, and it looks odd. it mostly smells the way the reviews suggest it should, it smells strongly of eucalyptus and rose geranium in the decant, then morphs into something soft an soothing after wearing it for a bit. But for the life of me, I cannot get the oils to blend totally. at first I thought it was just because it's cold here in Wisconsin, but it's been in my apartment with my other BPAL for almost a week, and there's still obvious separation, and the separated "bubbles" won't even join among themselves. has anyone else noticed this with this blend? or is mine just off? thanks (also, if this isn't where this should be posted, please let me know. I've searched for days to figure out where to pose this question, and this seemed the most reasonable place)

I just bought a bottle exactly like that from another forumite and was told it's from 2005. That's the year that I was thinking it was, because that's the year that the other 2 bottles I won at the same time were from. However I was reluctant to just presume that I was right about that. thanks a lot for the response

a few weeks ago I won an eBay auction that Puddin put up for a bottle of Sugar Skull, and I'm curious whether or not the year can be determined by the label art as it wasn't specified in the auction. Does the label for all Sugar Skulls look the same? It's a non-glossy paper label, and there's no year on it (because if there was I wouldn't be asking the question).

Back when Et Lux Fuit was released I asked a friend of mine, who knows a fair amount of Latin, how to pronounce it. If I remember correctly it was "fweet". that's really close to what I thought it was. I recently acquired a bottle and wanted to wear it to work tomorrow, but I also wanted to be able to pronounce it correctly. thanks so much!!!

okay, after having read through (from both directions) at least 2/3 of the posts and not finding it... and then using the "search topic" function and it not coming up... Et Lux Fuit I'm good with Et and Lux but I'm curious as to how Fuit is supposed to sound
