In the imp: Louden's cherry cough drops. Weird how a lot of these smells remind me of a specific commercial product right off the bat, but that's exactly what it smells like. Wet: Cherry cough drops with a hint of strawberry. The fruits have gone into the background quickly, though -- now, I'm getting something calm and a little flowery, with a hint of vanilla in the very back of my sinuses. Drying: Come back, happy fruity-ness! It's a very subdued, soft, powdery sweetness, with the very teenyest hint of cherry if I focus really hard. Overall, though, what started off as a very distinctive and fun scent turned into something very ho-hum and bland.

In the imp: Something bitter and a little medicine-y, a slight hint of Vapo-Rub. Wet: There's still something weird going on here -- it's like a dry-smelling Vapo-Rub, honestly, like that plus a little smoke or incense. I suppose it might be the lavender playing tricks on me. It's almost like a lavender mint. It's also sorta like a doctor's office. Drying: It's softened into something vaguely grassy, powdery and lavendery, with an odd undertone that smells like sparklers on the Fourth of July. Overall, it's alright, but not for me, though I've gotta say that the sparkler undertone is fascinating.

In the imp: Citrusy, in an air-freshener sort of way. Wet: Ooh, THERE's the aquatic. Aquatic with a hint of citrus. I don't get this "hellishly dark" description, 'cause there doesn't seem to be anything dark about this one at all, not so far -- it's very bright, like a sunny day on a boat. Drying: I'm starting to have a contest in my head -- "Tempest? Danube? Love child of Danube, Tempest and a grapefruit?" It's watery more like Tempest, but it's sweeter and more powdery kinda like Danube. Far from "hellishly dark," I could see this one being a good pick-me-up on a gloomy day. It's sort of in the vein of Clinique Happy, a little, without the obvious alcohol-y-ness. It's worth keeping the imp, I think, but I probably wouldn't buy a bottle.

In the imp: Hair dye. I use Feria, and it comes with this "fragrance ampule" that's supposed to make it smell better. It smells like this does -- vaguely fruity, maybe a touch of orchid in there, and a little soapy. Wet: It's uncanny how much it smells like I'm dyeing my hair in here. It's calming down now, though, and I really wanna say it's an apricot-orchid sort of smell, a perfectly balanced fruit/flower mix. Drying: Pleasantly fruity -- I can smell the apricot the most, but I catch hints of pomegranate, too. But it's simultaneously very flowery, too. The strange thing is, it does tilt toward dishsoap every once in a while as well. Between that soapiness and the initial hair dye-ness, I don't think I'll end up keeping this one. It's not bad, though ... just not a love-it scent.

Oh. Em. Gee. It smelled deliciously wonderful in the bottle, and it has continued to smell incredible on me all day long. Sugarplums, sweet, sweet sugarplums. I know it's supposed to be wintery, but I could wear this year-round. I'm contemplating getting another bottle, even though it'll probably take a good while to get through the first one, just 'cause what if I can't get any again?

Eternal desire, unquenchable passion: red musk, cocoa absolute, Nepalese amber, red sandalwood, aged patchouli, nicotiana, and blood wine. Imp: Cherry liqueur Wet: A chocolate-covered, booze-filled cherry Drying: Sweeter and softer, a soft, sweet cherry -- and I can see the Dr Pepper comparisons, 'cause it is a little like flat vanilla Dr Pepper at times Meh. I'll swap this one out.

Imp: Lemon Pledge Wet: Ooh, lilacs! Lilacs!!! I LOVE lilacs!!! Drying: Lilacs and lemons ... sometimes a lemony lilac, and sometimes taking turns dominating. Lovely. This one has inspired a lilac quest, now -- are there other wonderful, lilac-y scents out there?

I'm also looking for the ultimate lilac. I tried Cordelia yesterday, which was a wonderful lemon-lilac, but now I'm wondering if I can find such a nice, strong, natural lilac somewhere else, maybe in a combination better than lemon.

Imp: Green and almost lemony Wet: Wet plants -- very green, very wet, with a hint of citrus. I'm marveling at how well this one captured water -- it's just very, very wet-smelling, plants drenched with rain. Drying: Fading, and making my nose tingle in an odd way. Still very fresh and pleasant, but subdued. It's a nice mix of water and greenery, like grass next to a stream on a sunny day.

Imp: Sharp and smoky Wet: Tea roses, definitely tea roses. Drying: Ooh. Roses, and then lilacs, and then the smell of stone roses at a ren faire (probably the flowers together), with a little warm something that's probably the woods trying to come out. And now it's powdery. And rosey. And warm. Ooh, shifty little devil, isn't it? I wonder if this one would be better with some age on it? It seems to be mostly roses, but I'd love to pick up more of those woods.

Imp: Orangey. Actually, it's a chocolate orange -- not that it smells chocolatey, but you know that smell when you open up a chocolate orange? It's that kind of orange smell, exactly. Wet: Orange, but with a hint of flowers and vanilla. Very pretty. Drying: It smells a little like a Charmkin, for those who may have collected them. Nice, though -- powdery and orangey and a little warm.

Imp: Sweet, sharp, watery and a little green, like flower stems Wet: A sharp aquatic smell, kinda like a man's shower gel Drying: Very fresh, clean and a little bit like laundry (and I like laundry). It makes me think nautical. Totally different from anything else I have, but a nice change of pace -- not a love, but a like.

Ooh, pretty... Imp: Dishsoap. Wet: Soft, powdery floral, a little sweet Drying: Y'know, I'm not one to fawn over florals, but this one is really nice. It's flowery, but a little sweet and not old-lady-ish at all -- I'd actually call it a younger floral. I dunno if I'll get a bottle, but I'll definitely keep the imp.

Imp: Harsh and manly Wet: Like men's cologne, fresh-smelling, then a bit soapy Drying: Calmed down into something softer but still manish. I'm not really getting the parchment, which saddens me, 'cause that's what I was hoping for. I may try this one again some other time ... it might be too manish for me, but there's something a little sweet-spicy in the background that catches my interest.

In the imp: Play-Doh, but quickly shifting to something powdery, yet assertive. Wet: Roses? Something floral. And spices, but cold spices, if that makes sense -- not a full, warm smell, but a sort of hollow, chilly spicy smell. Drying down: Play-Doh creeping in again ... but there's something sweet there, too, sweet and spicy and maybe a little smoky, almost like clove, but not quite. There's a fascinating scent in here, but it's fighting the Play-Doh, trying to come out. The jury's still out on this one. Maybe I'll wear some to work today, so I have all day to smell it and make up my mind. It's a really interesting, shifty floral/smoky-spicy-sweet, and I'm hopeful that the Play-Doh part will dissipate.

Hey, it's my first soapy scent. Um, yay? Seriously... in the imp = dishsoap. Wet = dishsoap. Dry = 100% essence of Palmolive. Meh.

First sniff: Sharp and somewhat harsh ... must be those black herbs. Wet phase: Still strong and herb-ish. Drying: Softening up a bit ... it almost smells a bit like patchoulli at this point. Unfortunately, I hate patchoulli. This one's gonna get swapped. Too bad those fruits never showed up for me ... I like fig and dates and currants.

First sniff: LIQUOR! It was screaming BOOZE! at me out of the imp. Wet phase: Fading alcohol smell into grapey-ness. Very grapey, in a much more pleasant way. And what's this -- a hint of rose, hiding in the background? Drying: Woo, what throw! I can smell the grapey-ness from feet away. And now, it's more... grosey. Grapey and rosey. It's calmed down a lot now ... it's a lot softer, almost powdery, as the rose asserts itself. I may have to try this one again. I kinda like the grape/powder/rose that I'm getting, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to keep it and wear it.

At first whiff, this smelled kinda lousy, like a cheap rose perfume, very perfumey in that bad, chemically sort of way. But when I put it on, that dissipated, leaving a big bouquet of roses. Dry, nothing changed -- lots and lots of roses. I was a little disappointed because I had hoped to smell the lilac and I never did. But the throw was nicely strong, and my mom loved it, so after she tried a dab, I ended up giving the imp to her.

I just got this imp today... Sniffing the imp, it was woody but with a sharp, lemony overtone. Once I got it on, it was lemony... oh so lemony, deliciously lemony. When it dried a bit and settled in, though, the lemon faded to the background, creating a nice backdrop for an herb-ish smell (the sage and rosemary, I suppose). It's really quite nice, bright and sort of ren-faire-y ... not something I'll wear every single day, but something I'll surely keep around to wear when the mood strikes me.
