This one is CAKE. Not cake, not even Cake, but CAKE, CAKE that jumps off your arm, grabs you by the collar and slaps you in the face a few hundred dozen times. Ow, CAKE, stop that. Ow. It hurts, CAKE, please, please stop. After a while, CAKE gets bored and wanders off, leaving a trail of its scent behind in an alley filled with cucumber plants. What a bully, that CAKE. What did I do to deserve that?

I'm gonna have to test this again, 'cause what I got, well ... stick your face over a glass of Dr Pepper and inhale. It's that -- Dr Pepper, but not so sweet, more like the carbon dioxide fizzing out of it. Weird.

I can review this one in two words: Singing Moon. Seriously, this smells identical to me. I'm gonna have to test them side-by-side just to see if I can pick out any difference at all.

What should I expect at the Dirty South Will Call, since nobody's really addressed that here? How is it different from the WC or dearly departed EC ones? Do they carry the entire line of GCs as well? How does it work when you're there?

On me, this smells identical to Orange Phoenix -- sort of like one of those chalky orange candy lollipops I had when I was a kid. Yum!

In the beginning stages, this is all soap -- another aquatic that just smells like soap to me. At the end, though, hours later, it's really interesting and kinda nice, seashell and loveliness. But am I willing to wait through all of that soap? Probably not.

I'm starting to wonder if sandalwood hates me. In the vial, this was really intriguing, nutmeg and warm tonka, a hint of spring and a hint of autumn pies all at once. But on me? It's toilet paper. I'm not kidding -- go get a pack of Charmin, pull out a roll, hold it to your nose and take a great big whiff. That's what I smell like with this on.

Beanman & Beanwoman Prepare to Attack the Vagina
Ravenclaw79 replied to capnlizaveta's topic in Lupercalia
Oh, this is wonderful! It's orangey, the most orangey scent that we can all get our hands on yet. But it's not VERY orangey -- it's orange hidden inside a cloud of soft musk, with wisps of coconut swirling through it. And later on, when it's all settled and morphed, it's hardly possible to pick out anything, except that it's a warm haze of awesomeness and sexayness. I think I'm gonna need a bottle. -
Masculine and leathery, but with an occasional whiff of tea with lemon, all with a slight undertone of powdery sweetness. I'm glad I got to try this for the powdery part and the tea part, but I won't go hunting for more.

Very Slightly Haunted Dollhouse
Ravenclaw79 replied to Jammies's topic in Black Phoenix Trading Post
Funny how the Lab's carnation never smells like actual carnations on me. But at least I've learned to identify it now: it's bubblegum mixed with anise-like spices. And that's predominantely what I get from this. -
In the bottle, this is sweet and slightly fruity, with the barest hint of caramel. On my skin, though, it's horrid, a really harsh floral with a sinister feel. This is the sort of scent that some other people here would love, but I can't, at least not now. Maybe aging will improve it.

In the bottle, this is cherries, and flowers, and a hint of grass. On the skin, it's light, springy flowers. Oddly... well, did anyone ever have Perfume Pretty Barbie? This smells kinda like the perfume locket that came with her. Drying down, though, the blackberry shows up to the party, which makes this pleasantly fruity as well. It's a really nice spring scent.

In the bottle, this is lilacs and something soapy. On the skin, it's about the same. When it dries down, it comes into its lilac-y goodness fully. It's something like a Charmkin, and something like Melancholia. I'll have to test those two side by side later on.

Milk Chocolate and Matcha Green Tea Ganache Truffle
Ravenclaw79 replied to TheIceMaiden's topic in Lupercalia
In the bottle, this is about as weird as it sounds -- fake chocolate (the usual BPAL cocoa note) with something really, really odd going on underneath it. On the skin, it gets interesting and more identifiable. It's chocolate, with a brief hint of tea (REAL tea, like a cup of black tea, not just a bergamot note -- oh, how I wish Beth could just bottle that quick whiff!) that turns into a more citrusy, lemony note. Drying down, it's a lemony fudge, a citrusy scent with a warm grounding of chocolate underneath. It totally shouldn't work, but it totally does. -
Huh. It's always interesting to read the notes after smelling something blind. At first whiff, I got cinnamon out of this, but a woody cinnamon, not a spicy, hot or candy cinnamon. Now, it's woody and a little masculine with a hint of creaminess and a bit of spiciness. I guess I can get currant, now that I know it's in there ... there is a hint of something sweet. Interesting. I'm not sure if I'll keep this one, but it's definitely worth a try for everyone, 'cause it's a really fascinating blend.

This smells so much like Singing Moon, it's creepy -- it's got that same kind of spring thaw vibe, all mud and twigs and the beginnings of plant growth. It's spring in a spray bottle!

Green grass and red roses. I got a Squirt of this with a pair of yoga pants my honey gave me, and oh my, am I glad Puddin put this in there! This is a spray I never would have ordered on my own, but it's really nice -- it smells like a florist, like a bouquet of fresh-cut roses! Since my honey and I were celebrating our anniversary yesterday, I sprayed a bunch of this in the bedroom, and it lent the perfect aura of romance all night long. I think I'm gonna have to get a full bottle with my next Post order.

At first sniff, this was clean baby and dirty musk, a musk with dirt in it. Now, it's mostly just baby, but baby in a good way (for those who don't care for babies) -- it's freshly washed baby, super-clean baby.

Ah-ha, it IS different! I suspected as much! Brian's has the pig on the other side and the imp from the shirt on the right. Thanks for the pic!

Blue Moon 2009: Brian's Interpretation
Ravenclaw79 replied to greenranger's topic in A Little Lunacy
I put this on, and wow, it went crazy, morphtacular -- within a few minutes, it was lunar oil -> flowers -> cologne -> soap -> flowers. Now, some while later, it appears to be a floral, rather like a lot of other white/yellow/watery florals, with a little lunar oil underneath. The spices are apparently nowhere to be found. Bummer. -
Hey, does anyone have a picture of Beth's Blue Moon? I'm curious, 'cause I got Brian's the other day and noticed that there's nothing on it indicating Brian's, not Beth's. I'm guessing that maybe the label art is slightly different -- otherwise, how will we tell them apart?

Wet: Metallic, very metallic. Drying: Men's cologne. Too bad I don't know any cologne-adventurous men. Dried down: Lavender-y, a bit musky, a bit powdery. Interesting. And yeah, I can get "light and shimmery" out of this, sure.
-
First, it's eucalyptus. Then, it's piney for a moment. But it ends up cologne-y, very man-ish. Not for me.

Wolf Moon '07 ....I also have '04, and I'm trying to remember what it looks like.... .....I'm pretty sure it's the same as the older-style GC labels. Mine is in a cobalt blue bottle. Thanks! (And omg, I need to hunt down an empty of that one, somehow.)

Does anyone happen to have pictures of the labels for the Wolf Moons (apparently '04 and '07)?
