    Advice on Gaiman scents please

I haven't tried Cthuluhu (or I have and I've forgotten it) ... but Wensleydale smells like laundry to me, clean cotton.

    Email order acknowledgement

Yeah... I sort got about 15 of 'em this afternoon.

    Email order acknowledgement

If it makes anyone feel better, I just got an e-mail from the Lab, and my order did in fact go through. Yays!

    Email order acknowledgement

I've hit that "e-mail me a copy" button about a bajillion times, and I haven't gotten a single one (and yes, I've been looking in the spam box, too).

    Email order acknowledgement

The duplicate confirmations haven't shown up, either, but it is in CCNow's system, says "awaiting shipment".

    Email order acknowledgement

Has anyone ever ordered through CCNow and not gotten a confirmation e-mail? Usually, it shows up in my inbox within a minute or two of placing the order. But I sent the order maybe 45 minutes ago or so, and I keep checking my inbox, and nothing. I did get the page that said it went through, but I like having the e-mail confirmation, y'know? Should I be worried?

    Advice on Gaiman scents please

I love Wensleydale most of the year. It's good for summer 'cause when you feel sweaty and icky, it smells fresh and clean. Sadly, most of the Gaimans haven't agreed with me. Lady Una was nice if you like honey, and I remember Fairy Market being sorta nice... either of those might work as well.

    Velvet Unicorn

Out of the imp, this smells sugary, sort of like circus peanuts or Lucky Charms, plus a little of something that's sort of like a canister of strawberry powdered drink mix. Settled down, it's mostly lost the berry edge but almost has a hint of cake -- it reminds me a little of Floating Brain, like if the brains were on exhibit in a tent at the circus ('cause the circus peanuts are still there a bit).

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

Spicy and musky and smoky, almost sinister. This scent is perfect for a misfortune teller... not so perfect for me.

    Gemini

The universe consists of a delicate balance, yin and yang, dark and light, matter and anti-matter. You'd think that Gemini, the twins, might be a balance of two sides as well. But this tips to only one side: This, my friends, is anti-perfume. I tried it on, and it quickly faded to almost nothing at all. What IS there is the John Doe of perfumes, anonymous, totally nondescript. Weird.

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I have an imp of Melancholia that's a wonderful lilac blend. I bought a bottle, and it was soapy and lousy. (I put it away ... I'm hoping it ages into what I fell in love with.)

The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil

Wet: Caramel? No, not caramel... Tootsie Pops, chocolate Tootsie Pops. And green apple candy. Dried and settled: Green apple, like SGA without the snow part, heady and green-apple-y. When you take a whiff, it hits the back of your throat, like you just took a swig of apple juice. Nice.

    Thunder Moon

Another aquatic that doesn't really smell like water/rain/ocean -- this one goes on like an "ocean breeze"-scented soap, maybe Zest, a bar of soap. The amber does wonders for it, though, 'cause it does settle into something more interesting than soap, soap with a bit of warmth and intrigue underneath. Still, not for me.

    Monster Bait: biggerCritters

I'm testing this one today, and I'm thinking I should've waited until tomorrow -- it strikes me as a perfect Easter scent. At first, it was vanilla-y and almost a little cereal-y, like a box of breakfast cereal. Then, it went sweet but a little soapy -- I'm starting to wonder if there's a certain flower, maybe gardenia, that always registers "dishsoap" in my nose. Ultimately, it settled to something sweet with a bit of orange-ness to it. It strikes me as fluffy and sweet, like Funfetti cake and Peeps.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Odd question: Does Phoenix Steamworks have more than one label (one for the first release from the Trading Post with shirt, one regular GC) or just one?

    Orange Phoenix v6

Candy candy candy candy candy candy candy candy CANDY! This scent makes me hyper. It's orange candy, with a slightly sour-sweet edge like SweetTarts or Smarties. Happy, happy, boing, boing, orange! ---- Edited to add: It's the end of the night now, and I just noticed that it's not candy anymore. It's still orange, but it's a sweet, creamy orange, faint and lovely. Still awesome. *covets more*

    The Host of the Air

Initially, this is clover, fresh and green but not grassy, clover-y. As it dried, there was a moment of "ooh, what's that?" sweetness in the background, and then it all went directly to soap -- a nice soap, though, at least, a pleasant, fresh scent. Dried down later on, I detect a hint of dandelion, but it's still very much "fresh spring breeze," clean. I don't dislike it, but I'm hoping it'll improve with a little age on it (it just came in the mail today).

    Thirteen (13): February 2009

This one comes off as a bit of brown sugar and a chunk of artificial chocolate smell, mixed with a bit of candle-shop potpourri. Not bad, but not great, not on me, either.

    TKO Massage Oil

I tried some of this last night, 'cause while I was trying to wait until I had someone to give me a proper massage, I had a sore shoulder, and it was sitting there tempting me. Oh, what a lovely lavenillamallow scent. It reminds me of staying over with my boyfriend, to whom I gave my imp of the TKO oil for him to use at bedtime. The texture's nice, too, oily but not greasy -- it settled into my skin nicely, leaving a cloud of scent but hands I could still use without leaving grease-prints. Wonderful ... and the scent stayed, too, all night long and into the next morning.

    Buck Moon

Patience on this one, patience and you will be rewarded ... When I first put it on, it was dishsoap, nothing but straight Palmolive. Ech. But I decided to wait it out, 'cause surely, something that was loved this much can't be that bad, right? Unless it went off due to age, of course... But after a bit, as it dried down, something else started to come out ... now, it was something soft and powdery, but still soapy. Give it a half-hour, though, and it's AMAZING. The soap has faded off, and what's left is a beautiful, soft musky scent. Darnit, I really didn't need to fall for such a rare blend, but this one's awesome. It actually reminds me a little bit of a perfume I used to wear a long time ago, Victoria Secret's Body By Victoria, except not quite. I so want a bottle, though I know I'll never find one.

    The Owens' Tomb

Very dusty, with a slight hint of dandelion buried underneath. It's really evocative, but it's not something I'll wear.
  22. Ravenclaw79

    Blue Phoenix v2

Blueberry sweet, fading into a more subtle, perfumey scent that's still the sort of scent that you smell and think "blue." Very nice.
  23. Ravenclaw79

    Lady Una

At first, I was hesitant... oh, honey, another honey blend, ho-hum. But I tried it anyway, and it lured me in with promises of berries, blackberries, lovely Glasgow-esque blackberries. And hours later, I've not been disappointed, though the scent isn't quite what it was ... it's settled into a nice blackberry and musk sort of scent, with a slightly honeyed tinge. Lovely.

    Havisham

Sweet and flowery. Very nice, but not something I'm likely to think to pick up and use.
  25. Ravenclaw79

    Red Rose

Very heavy, almost like an old lady in a way, slightly spicy and dark. The more this wears on me, the more it smells to me like the bottom of someone's makeup bag, like lipstick and dust and residues of powders and perfumes from over the years.
