I really love Haunted & Darkness. I haven't really liked any other scents in this category that I've tried. There seem to be a lot of florals.

I've recently fallen HARD for Dragon's Milk & Dragon's Heart. Any recs as to which Ars Draconis oil I should try next?

Your Best-Bet "Must Try" Enabling Scents
lainevierge replied to magpiedee's topic in Recommendations
Man, I'm pretty shocked to see 51 on many of your lists. That was actually one of the first BPALs I sniffed and I was NOT impressed. It's way too generic for my tastes. The stuff that seems to have enabled my friends and family were pretty unexpected scents. At a recent party when I pulled out my mini-stash everyone went for Depraved, and it seems I've hooked my mom with a frimp of Brown Jenkins. Odd, because I never would have chosen that one for her. -
Mmm, this has that sweet, sexy funk that honey notes always do. Unfortunately, I wish I knew for sure that red currant and blackberry are icky on my skin before getting this. I think the amber is the only think that's making it not go totally off on me. Not my favorite of the Warrior Queens.
-
In the bottle this smelled strangely like tomatoes. Once of rubbed some on my skin I got the honey, and somehow a bit of cinnamon. I'm thinking all in all that red currant doesn't work on me.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love
lainevierge replied to any_old_actress's topic in Recommendations
Time to bump this thread up again since the weather is getting cooler (well, it is here anyway). I think I'll be reaching for Miller vs. California and The Sea Rat this autumn. Since they both came out last winter I haven't yet tested them as autumn scents, but I think they'll hold up well. They're both dark but slightly sweet, and very sexy! -
Yes! I have some imps that leave red lines on my arm due to their scratchy plastic. At first I thought it was just happening with decants, but I've had it happen with lab imps too.

mmm, this was frimp from a swap and I can't believe it works on me. It reminds me of the honeysuckle and jasmine Avon perfumes my mom used to wear in the summer. It also compliments my Lush Godiva solid shampoo. I smell like summer flowers. I can't believe I found a jasmine scent that I want to wear.
-
Have you tried Bilquis? I have not. I'll have to add a decant to my wishlist though.

I've been on a major almond kick lately. I recently fell hard for Eclipse, but I have a feeling not all almond scents are for me. I remember Queen of Sheba being a totally overpowering almond and so I swapped it away. I like Voodoo, Black Phoenix & Miss Lupescu, but I don't think any other almond scent will be as perfect on me as Eclipse is. I'm also really craving almond pastries right now.
-
Mmm, this starts off as almond paste and then fades into a beautiful, elegant scent. The almonds in the back ground remind me of an almond scented candle I once had. I'm so glad to find an almond scent that can be tamed. The vanilla and heliotrope balance each other out enough to keep the blend from being too floral or too foody. The cinnamon gives it a hint of the exotic. I think I might need a bottle.

I never thought I'd love a blend with any kind of orange in it, but now I like three! Velvet Panther and Velvet Tiger are both rocking my socks off. I think it helps that the orange scents are blended with darker, more sinister things like cinnamon, anise & vetiver. And The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, while terrible on my skin, seems to work fine once it's mixed with unscented lotion. It's a lovely pine and orange scent.

Death Adder fills all my summer coconut needs. It's a dry, dark coconut. Obatala is a bit too fresh and sweet for me in the summer, so I prefer it in the cooler months.
-
I'm kind of amused that we have both a tiger and a panther scent now.

Ever since I sniffed it, On Darkness has made me think of purple.

Hmm, I wasn't a fan of Makhanitis. I think it was the wine. I also disliked Blood Countess. I think I'll be tacking Prunella & Bensiabel to my next order though. I don't know why I passed them up when I got my other Marchen imps. Creamy plum sounds divine!

Mmm, I remember being unimpressed by this the first time I tried it. It was all anise and mandarin, which are not my favorites. So I waited a week or so and ooh, I'm glad I did! The vanilla and musk are now the dominant notes and the mandarin is hovering in the background. I still get some anise too, but not enough to make a difference. Basically, everything is so well blended that it smells like a cozy, faintly spicy mix. It makes me so happy because I'm always refering to my cat as a velvet panther. I kind of want to douse her in this and then snuggle her all day.

Best BPAL for gym, workout, sports, exercise?
lainevierge replied to quinkel's topic in Recommendations
I try to make a point of washing my arms right before going into the yoga studio to try and get rid of the traces of whatever I applied that morning. It usually works unless I've put something super sweet on that morning, which I try not to do if I can help it. I really like applying Sudha Segara after a workout. I find it really refreshing, and it doesn't burn my post-workout skin like some of the minty scents tend to. -

I'm not supposed to wear perfume to yoga, but sometimes I put a wee little swipe of Obatala on my wrists before class. Sometimes. -
Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume
lainevierge replied to Ina Garten Davita's topic in Recommendations
Oh man. That must be why I fell so hard for The Emathides when I smelled it recently. -
Wow, when I first put this on it was LEMON. I amp lemon like crazy, so I was a bit disappointed, but that quickly faded and a sort of menthol-tingly smell came out from under everything (maybe the wasabi?) Now, a few hours later, it smells mostly of light mint and something fresh. It reminds me of The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife. Nice, though I wish it wasn't so light.

Hmm, this is practically a clone of Miller vs. California on me, minus the booze & paper bag. It's okay, but I'm glad I have a full bottle of Miller and just a decant of this.
-
I put The Owens' Tomb on today after finding it in my pile of decants and remembering how much it made me think of Easter. Such a great mix of dirt and flowers. It screams Spring!

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
lainevierge replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
I see there's a lot of posts here pointing out the similarity between Hymn To Proserpine & Haloa or MB:Underpants, but I'm trying out my imp for the first time and I keep thinking I put on Glowing Vulva this morning. -
Peach, Peach Blossom, Apricot, Nectarines
lainevierge replied to quimerula's topic in Recommendations
I'm by no means a lover of fruity scents but I love Depraved. The filthy patchouli balances it out and keeps it from becoming one big juicy apricot. I think it's one of the sexiest scents ever.
