Oh god. This smells just like a bus toilet. It reminds me why I don't take long bus trips anymore. Just sniffing the imp makes me nauseated. Wow. I know that was probably the point, so I have no choice but applaud the lab's abilities. This stuff is going nowhere near my skin though.

Wow, orange lemon & grape equals Kool-Aid. I loved how unusual this was in the imp, but on me it's nothing but sugary drink powder, after the original sour citrus scent passes. I think I'll be staying away from the fruity notes from now on.

Mmm, lovely. This is a floral that actually works on me! It makes me think of a vase of flowers in a sunlit but shadowy room. I love the dry undertone that is somewhere beneath the pale bouquet of flowers.

I tired this on yesterday and there was a lingering background note of cold, fresh commercial perfume. Today I got the Christmas pastries right away (cinammon!) and the flowery notes came right out with the chilly background again. I like this and plan on wearing a lot in the next few weeks, but I think I'll just stick with my decanted imp since I don't see myself wearing it much after Christmas.

My first impression of this is an ice cream parlor. Wet in the imp I get the tobacco but on my skin it just goes to baby powder. It's a spicy baby powder though, probably because of the chili peppers. I wish I got the melon or any of the other notes though. I also tested it on my husband and the tobacco stayed on him, but it was still a weird scent.

Oh man. I had an orgasm just smelling my decant of this for the first time. On my skin it is a perfect blend of chocolate, coffee & cinnamon and it does none of the weird plastic stuff that Gluttony did! I usually don't like smelling like food, but this makes me feel so happy that it doesn't matter. Must get bottle!

I've used this for the past few nights and I haven't noticed any big changes in my dreaming patterns. The first night I had an awesome dream, but since last night I barely remember what I dreamed, I'm thinking the first night might be due to watching Carnivale before bed and not this oil blend. As far as scent goes though, I'm getting a weird mix of licorice and black pepper from this. The two notes don't blend into each other at all. It's an odd mix, but it is very calming and it does put me to sleep.

In the imp this smells like headache-inducing chocolate nuttiness. On me it goes plastic and reminds me of a gingerbread lip balm I had as a kid. It's a super long lasting scent though. My bedroom still smells like it today, even though the imp isn't in there anymore. I wish the caramel and hops were more prominent. I can see why this is gluttony. Overdose!

Venerable and solemn: the scent of incense smoke wafting through an ancient church. A true ecclesiatical blend of pure resins. Wow, dusty. I'm getting nothing but dust off of this, but I still like it. I smell like a musty old basement.

This is a nice warm, cozy scent that is much more suited to winter than I thought it would be. It's light and citrusy but warm and figgy too. I really like fig scents now, though the orange in this one is bordering on the too-sweet side.

Wow. I'm not much for apple scents, but this one is different! It starts out like a toxic, almost evil candy apple but after a little while it gets a lovely light flowery bloom to it. I'm several hours into wearing it now and it's developed into a clean, creamy scent. Biting into this apple was delicious and I'm now in a blissful coma.

In the imp this smelled very sweet, but I thought I'd give it a chance anyway. On my skin it went from buttery bubblegum to lemon Pledge to cherry Nyquil and none of these scents is something I want to smell like.

Eep. The description of this oil sounded so good when I was picking out imps, but in reality it's way too flowery for me. It's a bizarre kind of flowery though with a hint of funeral flowers and stagnant water. It reminds me a lot of the spring flower type perfumes my mom always wore like L'Air du Temps. They were pretty on her, but they're just not me. Edited to add : This just turned putrid on me, as in well beyond stagnant water and into something like superstrength bug spray...

I love the dried rose note in this, and I've never been into rose before. The rose is so elegant, but there's something making it all weird, either the ginger or the cypress. I wish I was getting some of the other notes like the fig, but they're just not coming to me. (I'm on a search for more dried rose notes now that I know I like it!)

Oh wow. When I first sniffed the imp the day I got my order I got a weird first impression of a mixture of mothballs & patchouli, which I kind of liked because it reminded me of my aunt. I actually tried it on today though and at first it was a heavy cinnamon and clove smell that morphed into peaches. It smelled a lot like the peach potpourri my mom used to make holiday sachets out of. But then... about an hour into wearing it it's softened into this great metallic scent (I'm guessing the "dark" incense did this) and it smells just like one of my favorite and rather hard to find perfumes (Kenzo's Jungle), only spicier and decidedly peachy. I never thought I'd like something so peachy! Oh, I must get a bottle of this. Everything about it is divine. Now I understand why everyone here has such a large BPAL collection...

I'm getting a bit of a sweet, dusty scent with a sour fruit background. I don't like it at all, despite the interesting description.

When I first put this one on today I could barely smell it, but my body heat really set it off. It seems to be a perfect scent for a cold day. It smells like a divine mix of cocoa powder and warm fig with a hint of greenery. I don't think I'd buy a whole bottle, but it's a nice warm cozy scent that's not sickening sweet.

I'm loving the creative descriptions everyone is coming up with for this scent. I just got an order I've been waiting over a month for and out of everything in the box (two bottles & nineteen imps) I chose this one to wear tonight, I don't know why. That was about an hour an a half ago and I am SO IN LOVE with this scent. I cannot stop smelling my arms. It smells like DIRT and reminds me of the Botanical Garden greenhouses just before spring, a smell I have always loved. I think I'm in love with both violet & vetiver notes now. This is positively orgasmic!

This is a scent I would save for summer. The sweetness is unbearable in colder weather and wearing it gave me a headache the other day. My coat also now smells like sweet coconut butterscotch tobacco. The other thing I don't like about this fragrance is that it slowly drifts into a combination of old lady perfume and new car smell on a hot summer day, maybe it's the tobacco?

I didn't really like this scent at first but it slowly grew on me. I can't distinguish any of the notes, but after a while it ends up turning in to a very powdery smell on me. I save my imp to wear on rainy days because somehow I can tolerate the smell better if it's humid out.

In the middle of July when I got my first BPAL order I tried Queen Alice on first and went out for the night. All night I kept sniffing my arm and was sort of revolted by the cinnamon potpourri type smell that I was getting off of it. Luckily the rest of the imps I got with my order (The Jersey Devil, Pele, 51) were more suited to summer, and I didn't write BPAL off forever. I hadn't touched this imp since, but after rereading the lab's explanation and getting ready to put my second order in, I sniffed it again.... and I fell in love! Now when I put it on I can't stop sniffing it. It's a wonderfully spicy/sweet mix that suits me perfectly, just as I thought it would when I ordered it. It makes me think of Christmas and cozy warm, wooly sweaters, not at all a summer scent. I'm so glad I gave it a second chance! Now I put it on every night before bed and it makes me feel so calm. I've since ordered a bottle to get me through the winter.

This one was thrown in as an extra with my last order. I tried it out a few times this summer but was really disappointed with how much it resembled commercial perfumes. I do agree that it doesn't go so far as to give me a headache like they do, and that there is something interesting about it, but it's certainly not something I'm interested in wearing.
