To me, this is all mouldy leaves, fading to a weird powderiness. It's nothing like the perfume oil, which is incredible!

Wow! This is different from any other BPAL I've tried. At first, when it's still wet, this is herbal and a bit like an old school cologne, with tart/sweet streak in the center. After drying down, it's sweet, resinous, incensy, waxy, and purple purple purple! Reminds me a bit of a deep violet candle that a guy would light to set the mood for a night well spent by staying in. Absolutely not a daytime scent for me!

I've tried this in two fashions, so far. I'm not supposed to used bath oils in the bath for health/sensitivity reasons, so I only put a few drops into my bath. It was lovely, warm, and spicey, but not too strong, as I didn't use much. However, I was impressed with the fact that it dispersed nicely throughout the water, and that when I got out of the tub it didn't leave my skin with a greasy film and I didn't have to do major scrubbing with multiple cleaning products to make the tub safe (and non-slippery) again (of course, that aspect might change if you use more oil). After the tub test, I tried rubbing it directly into my newly shaven legs. It worked as a very nice moisturizer, absorbing quickly and not leaving me all greasy like some after shower oils do. As for the scent, this is terrific, and strong and lasts longer than the perfume oil. On my skin, this was spicy-sweet carnation and cardamom, with an underlying glow of golden, but not sticky-sweet, peach. Gorgeous!

I would describe this scent as "cute". Predominantly, the fruitiness of melon stood out, then blended down as the light florals and musks appeared on dry-down. It reminds me of the drug store-purchased perfumes we used to spray ourselves down with after middle school gym class- the sort that came in myriad variey, identifiable by the color of the plastic portion of the bottle. I think this would be really pleasant for a tween starting out with fragrances.

Peachy-warm lily musky skinness! No powderiness from the amber for me. This smells like an expensive commercial perfume- in a good way. I felt beautiful and summery on my walk to work. It is a golden summer morning, rather than the full on heat of the summer afternoon. The bad thing is, this doesn't have much throw on me, and lasts for a very short while. Guess it really is a lot like summer...

Before reading the description, I thought this must be full of apple blossom. I'm guessing that it's the peach blossom I'm detecting, and not much else. Sweet and fruity with a lingering sweetness, but not a lot of throw, and not very long lasting.

In the bottle and wet on my skin: promising, strong sweet honey and spicey florals. Dries down quickly to an icky old lady floral before finally lingering to an edge of sweet waxiness. For some reason, the "sexy" ones seem to go ugly on me

I've been using this color for my pedicures (that I've done myself and had proffessionally done) all spring and now summer. I find the color to be a rich, pomegranite red. In the bottle, a silver metallic quality is visible, but I find that it's lost on the nail. It's more of a general "frost" kind of effect, rather than really metallic. Overall, it's a nice, wear with anything, red. What I like best about it, though, is that it wears really well. I always use base and top coats, but I find it growing out, rather than chipping off. Occasionally, I do a quick, dab, touch up to the big toes, and the new polish blends in unnoticeably. My pedicurist is also amazed by how long this lasts.

In the bottle: Sweet sweet sweet lavendar, maybe some vanilla On my skin: Sweet vanilla and Sambuca, without the alcoholic content Dry: Underneath the sweet vanilla and licorice, something medicinal- camphor? Cleared my sinuses. Cleared my head. Got to bed early and slept nearly 11 hours. Verdict: Good stuff. Worth the $25.50. Xanax is cheaper, but this doesn't mess with your head.

From past experience, I've learned not to trust ccnow's "shipped" status messages. Check your bank account, then wait for the CnS. (But I hope it's really telling the truth and not just being tricky anddeceptive, like it's been to me!)

My prediction: lovers of O will looooooooooove Mead Moon! In the bottle, very much honey, amber, vanilla, with a citrus kick, but more like orange than lemon... On my skin the notes swirl and blend together really nicely, as a hint of the ginger peeks through. The honey seems to melt in, and the amber has gone a little powdery, but I don't mind it, as it meshes well with the sweet, gentle spices. If I sniff really hard, I can detect a bit of herbalness underneath, close to the skin. I'm extremely pleased to announce that the clove actually behaved on my skin, and has not overwhelmed the whole blend- actually, I can't even tell it's there! Seems to have a nice throw, without stinking up the whole room for everbody else. This is summer sunlight in a bottle!

Tart grapefruit and white tea. Very sharp at first, mellowing down to citrusy smoothness. Another great complement to Bath and Body Works' White Tea and Ginger!

Lately, I've been so strung out I haven't been sleeping well. The lovely Labbies very graciously sent me Oneiroi as a frimp, but I hung onto it a while before trying it out, as I was a bit put-off by the scent of the other sleep blends. Oneiroi is different. Mostly jasmine and bergamot, with a whiff of bitter mugwort peeping through. A hot, humid, velvet-blue, summer night. A scent to fall into. Most consecutive hours of sleep I've accomplished in months. Strange, but not terrifying, dreams. If I wasn't worried about narcoleptic episodes beginning, I'd wear this as an everyday fragrance.

At first, all innocence and light florals. Slowly, roses start to bloom in the bouquet. A ripening of experience grows, mellowing the blossoms, before fading all way.

I received this as a frimp from the lab awhile ago but was saving it for when I knew I'd need some extra courage. Today was the day. I got lots of Dragon's Blood resin from this, not sure what else, maybe a bit of florals. Definately not the cloves a lot of folks are mentioning- I tend to amp cloves and immediately channel baked ham when it's a scent note. It was pretty and comforting, but not that noteworthy. The cool thing, though, was that when I was applying the oil from the imp to the cotton pad for my scent locket, (I slathered and locketed today as it's pretty hot and muggy, hence smelly, weather and could use the extra boost) the oil formed the shape of a heart! That brightened my morning a bit. As to giving courage, no full-blown panic attack, but I think I still screwed up the works. Is there a blend for facing consequences or end results, out there? I might need that for the next few years!

I am amazed by how simplypretty this one is! In the bottle, this reminds me a lot of Mary Kay's Red Tea and Fig shower scrub/lotion/body spray collection. The minute it hits my skin, the fruitiness is gone, and it's all iced tea with citrus- a little lime as well as lemon- bright and fresh with the slight bitterness of powdered tea. This doesn't stick around for long. It fades and softens, adds a bit of cedary-paperness, and sweet lemon poundcake. A few hours later I have to work to find even a hint of lemony sweetness. Very pretty and pleasant, but not much throw or wear-length.

I took a chance on this and bid on it, unsniffed in a Lab Ebay auction. In the bottle, I understand all the "Big Red" references- there is definately a cinnamon gum thing, but something darker and more woody and herbal, and complex, underneath that makes this not so sweet. Love, love, love. On my skin, I immediately noticed how dark brown the oil was on my skin- I had to rub it into my wrists to make the dirty-browness disappear. Big mistake. I'm obviously allergic to something in this. Immediate large, red, itchy patches on my wrists and decolletage. Nothing that a brisk scrubbing and a bit of cortisone cream couldn't handle, though. However, despite my clogged, allergy sinuses, I realized that quite a bit of the scent hung around, despite the scrubbing. Maybe it was the mix with the cortisone, but I realized that this blend was the exact, ellusive scent of mingled incenses lingering in that alpaca sweater from the headshop, which you are loathe to wash, because you will never again attain that particular spicy sweetness... Will be using this in the locket. Wish I could dip myself in it- especially during alpaca sweater season.

Lemon poundcake, liberally dusted with confectioners' sugar, a bouquet of jasmine on each side. This is a suprising blend: the jasmine does not turn to plastic (as usual) and the clove does not amp like baked ham. The throw grows as I wear it, but I think something in this is giving me a headache. The jasmine note reminds me a lot of Defututa, but no headache with that one....

I wish I had a man to slather down with this.... On first sniff, spicy sweet floral, carnation? But I checked the notes, and well, none listed. And then the sort of warm, sweeter, sandalwood that I've been looking for! But no citrus on me. This develops really quickly into something very masculine, but sweet and clean at the same time. I could totally see this in an antiperspirant.

My kitties HATE Black Cat- though they usually join me in festively sniffing out the BPAL packages in the mail. I agree with what some of the others have said about going au natural, fragrance-wise. Let the animals get to know your scent. That's how cats and dogs recognize each other, hence the whisker rubs and butt sniffing...

BPAL can be a lot like online dating. Nefertiti is like this: love on paper, not so much chemistry in real life. In the imp, this was perfume. Just perfume, floral and a bit chemical, nothing jumping out. Wet on my skin, this was a sharp, dry, sandalwood, the kind I'm often disappointed with when I buy sandalwood soap. Through the sandalwood ran a sharp, clearly green note, that I wasn't expecting in a perfume named for a queen of a desert civilization. As it began to dry, something began tickling my nose, like a snort of... ginger brew. I thought this might be a positive turn, but- I then began to detect something like used up potpourri- which I guessed must be "Egyptian herbs" (is that all one blended note, something that would sit next to a pot of Herbs de Provence in your spice rack?). This began giving me the ucky, squelchy headache that has developed with some scents, notibly, Queen Mab. At this point, is was still very strong, wafting up to my nose as it evolved into... drying latex wall paint. After a couple of hours of drydown, it is softer, sweeter, dusty potpourri and wet paint rollers. I wanted this to be a bottle-worthy scent, but my search for a "perfect match" will go on.

Light, sweet, pale-violet-colored floral. Wet, this reminded me of a floral commercial fragrance; very pleasant. Dry, it sweetens up- I don't get the strong herbal quality that the Lab's lavendar has a tendency to develop on me. No rose. More like spring blooms than summer. Not a lot of throw. Fades very quickly.

Several years ago, I got hooked on BBW "Water Blossom Ivy". I really liked it during hot, humid, weather. Of course, it disappeared. It has aloe vera and "water blossom ivy" (whatever the hell that is). Is anybody familiar with this one, and/or have any suggestions? I'm down to my last half inch and the weather is getting warmer!

Ok, so my nose must be completely backward and upside down. I've been using essential oil of lavendar for sleep for several weeks now and it seemed to help. So I tried Temple of Dreams to help me make sense of my dreaming. I wasn't sleepy when I applied this, but it seemed to calm me to a sleepiness rather quickly. As for its scent, there was definately lavendar and something sweet, perhaps vanilla, but most of all, it was very spicy like clove. I don't know if there is actually any clove in this blend, but those that do seem to amp clove for me. I definately detected something similar, if not actually, clove. My dreams last night? I worked through the night, teaching in my dreams. But at one point, there was a hole in my ceiling, and I saw a very plump mouse/rat, on the beams. And I thought in my dream, "How could a mouse survive those 2 fat cats who live here?" Well, that was only one night. We shall see what we see.
