When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

I am fairly new to BPAL, having just a handful of imps and one bottle. I was just about to place an order for Gluttony and found that it has been discontinued! Can anyone recommend a similar scent as a replacement? Thanks! -
breezefaerie started following Recs for those who can't do sweet perfumes?, How do you apply your BPAL oils? and Moscow

In the imp bottle, I got a very strong herbal scent. On my wrist, I could smell nothing but CHIVES! Ugh, I had to wash this off after a half hour of wearing as it was giving me an awful headache. Maybe I will try it again at a later date. I wanted sooo much to like this one based on the description. I wanted a scent that didn't morph into something overly sweet. I'd rather be too sweet than smell like onions.

In the bottle and wet on my skin, Moscow is all floral! It's very heady and sweet, very fresh. It is so for the most "perfumy" smelling of all the scents (the number is very small unfortunately) that I have had the opportunity to smell. After a half hour: I thought Moscow was going to disappear there for a few minutes but it seems to have come back. The initial florals have dried into a much softer floral blend on me. I can't seem to pick out any one note on my wrist. It smells very old-fashioned, almost powdery but not quite. It's very feminine.

With my meager handful of scents, I still want to chime in! Calliope is pure sunshine to me. Bright sparkly citrus, it really brightens my mood.

JEZEBEL Biblical witch, priestess of Astarte, and general troublemaker. A true role model for today's upwardly mobile Modern Woman. A gloriously decadent blend of honey, roses, orange blossom and sandalwood. I received Jezebel in a rollerball, mixed with jojoba. Jezebel is SWEET. All orange blossom and honey when I first put it on, almost candy-like in it's intensity. It dries down into a softer orange, almost powdery on my skin but retains the sweetness. I have to be careful with this one as it can overpower me with a sugar rush.

A scent celebrating Sir Francis Dashwood's Order of the Knights of St. Francis of Wycombe, also known as the Hellfire Club. A swirl of pipe tobacco, hot leather, ambergris, dark musk and the lingering incense smoke from their Black Mass. Hellfire is the first imp I have ever owned and tried. I received it as a rollerball, mixed with jojoba oil. The first time I wore Hellfire, I got all the rich smoky tobacco, the leather and smoke that the description promises. I wanted to be in a smoky cigar bar somewhere, listening to jazz and swirling warm brandy in a snifter. That only happened the very first time. Since then, Hellfire smells very warm and sweet, very creamy on me. I really think that my skin amps sweet scents from the few imps I have tried. I like Hellfire very much as it makes me feel very warm inside. I do miss that smokiness from my first wearing though ...

I was introduced to BPAL through another online community that I am an active member in, the LHC. Since first reading about BPAL I have spend countless hours pouring over the boards here, reading recommendations and reviews, reading about the different notes available in the different scents and how they play with one another. Apparently I have a new addiction! I have a huge list of what I want to try and a very small list of the few imps I have collected. I love the fact that BPAL takes inspiration from so many of the things I love, like HP Lovecraft and astrological signs. It amazes me that the names of the scents really do match the scent itself. I wanted to have a place that I could list what scents I have tried and what I want to try without having documents on different computers. (I'll admit, I'm bad and sneak minutes at work to read more reviews! ) That's what this blog will be for, a journal detailing my reviews for myself and my wish list.

In the bottle I get some type of cherry candy and almond ... I have no idea where this is coming from. On my wrist, the cherry candy overpowers everything else until it turns into cough syrup and stays that way until it fades. Too bad, I really liked the idea of this one.

Calliope is bright and sharply citrus in the vial and on my skin. It stayed citrusy with a slight herbal depth on my skin. I never got any of the almond which surprised me. Unfortunately this faded within minutes and an hour lated I can barely smell it on my wrist. Perhaps in my hair or in a locket it would have better staying power as it's such a sunshiny fragrance.

Recs for those who can't do sweet perfumes?
breezefaerie replied to Fishwomon's topic in Recommendations
ivyandpeony, thanks so much for directing me to this thread! The recs here are wonderful and I've gathered some (more) imps that I want to try now, ones that I hadn't originally thought of. -
In the imp and on my skin, this was a heady mix of something warm and spicy with just a faint whiff of a floral. It has incredible staying power for me as I can still smell it 9 hours later, but it's not overwhelming. I'm occasionally getting a faint candy-like scent but it's not staying and I'm so glad. I really like the warmth of the Blood Lotus and can see myself wearing this everyday.

I received Hellfire as my second ever Imp and it fits it's description perfectly. In the vial and on my wrist, it's a smoky honeyed scent, dark and to me, inviting. It makes me think of a fireplace with a roaring fire, reading a leather bound book with the smell of sweet pipe tobacco curling around me. On the dry down, the sharpest tobacco is fading into more leather while keeping the sweetness. It's staying very warm though and keeping me sniffing my wrist. I like this one very much! ETA: After several hours of wearing, this changed from me wanting to be in a cigar bar with a warm snifter of brandy to me smelling of baby powder. I will have to try this again another time, or in a scent locket.

This is my First ever imp and I have to say, I am thrilled beyond my wildest expectations. On me, this is honeyed oranges, I am not picking up any roses at all. Not a disappointment in the least, I was afraid it would turn into a candy-like sweetness but it hasn't. I am really loving this! ETA: After wearing for several hours, this still has amazing throw on me. The scent has stayed with honeyed oranges, but morphed into more of honeyed orange blossoms rather than the sweetness of the orange. I still love it!
