Again, another scent I got to try courtesy of my friend. IN THE IMP: Oh, this wasn't what I'd expected at all. The ozone, which is a bit too sharp for me sometimes in Lightning, gives just a bit of "fizz". It blends with the opaline notes, and they really make the scent glow. I definitely smell the moonflower, but there's also something really sweet and creamy and warm. I'm tempted to say vanilla, even though I know it's not a note, so I'm guessing beeswax and amber. WET: Still that warm, creamy sweetness that keeps registering in my head as vanilla. There's still some of the ozone and the opaline notes, which make me think of Black Opal. Plus the moonflower, which is just light and pale and gorgeous. DRY: So lovely, like moonflower and vanilla, with just a hint of the ozone and opaline notes. This one is just lovely, and very well-blended. I've never tried a scent quite like it, so it was a very interesting experience. I'm not sure I'll get an imp of my own, but I'm really glad I decided to try this.

IN THE IMP: Woah, all sage and green tea. Almost bitter. I don't get even a hint of blackberry. Very "dark". WET: Same as before. Oh dear. Is the blackberry ever going to come out? DRY: Somehow, this turned to soap on me. Which is strange, because I can't imagine which note I'd have a problem with. It smells like fancy tea or herbal soap. Not unpleasant at all. It's actually quite nice, but I don't wear perfumes that make me smell like I just washed my hands with fancy hotel soap.

IN THE IMP: Oh my goodness, bubble gum. And an artificial fruit flavor, the type you get in candy. It smells a lot like Juicy Fruit gum. WET: Very fruity in that fake way, and also turns a bit waxy. But for some reason, the wax doesn't bother me. It reminds me a lot of Laffy Taffy. DRY: Grape Laffy Taffy. It actually seems to get stronger with wear, huh. It's actually much less candy later in drydown and slightly more perfume-ish, so that it's actually possible to wear it around as an everyday scent. Cute, but not for me.

Second time trying this, courtesy of a friend. Thank God, because I'd forgotten how nice it was. IN THE IMP: Sweet, buttery vanilla cake with tangy currants. SO yummy. WET: Loses the fruity tang from the currants. It also somehow smells less foody than before, even though the only way I can think of to describe the scent is "sweet and cake-like". DRY: Mmm, just sweet vanilla cake. It's not as bakery-ish as before, though. It's just so warm and sweet that it makes me happy just sniffing it.

Ooh, I was so excited to receive this from the lovely friend who bought this for me. IN THE IMP: ... OH. Thick, syrupy, rich chocolate with spices and incense, and a hint of wood. Like a blend of Velvet and Snake Oil (... which I haven't actually tried, but I can imagine how it must smell ). WET: Creamy chocolaty spicy goodness. And the teakwood that balances it out really nicely. Yummmm, I'm so glad I got this. DRY: Same as before, except the cocoa note goes away and it's just creamy rice milk and a bit of teakwood with what must be Snake Oil. Mmm, SO good.

Sweet scents, sugar notes & things that smell like candy
jwhxtna replied to voila's topic in Recommendations
I'm hardly a BPAL expert, but I seem to like all the sweet blends so far... Fruitcake - VERY sweet, warm, moist brown sugar cake with spices. I don't get the hint of cherry other people seem to. Gingerbread Poppet '07 Egg Nog '07 - Just like it sounds. Very boozy, too. El Dia de Reyes - Chocolate and coffee HEAVEN. I could smell this forever. Candy Butcher Perilous Parlor - Like pear syrup over vanilla pudding, almost. Or vanilla sauce over cooked pear. Tamora Lady Una - Very blackberry and honey and vanilla on me. Dorian Titania Eve Jezebel - Okay, the honey was almost nauseating on me. -
Yay for Lunar sniffie! IN THE IMP: Like WHOOSH FRUIT. Smells like fruit punch, but something I would be much more willing to drink. WET: Fades a lot right away. Still fruity but not as overwhelming as before. Sweet and bright and yummy. DRY: Still fruity, but not as many as there were before. Plus a hint of something else, maybe floral or herbal? Very bubbly and happy.

A lovely frimp from dnagirl, because it's now discontinued, and Terpsichore is my favorite Muse! Thank you for letting me try this! IN THE IMP: Huh, my first impression is bananas, even though I know that's not exactly right. I'm not sure what neroli smells like, but everyone's saying that's what is most obvious in the imp. ... Does neroli smell like banana in the slightest? WET: Floral and fruity. Something about it is reminding me of Eos, though, but I'm not seeing any notes in common. DRY: Hm, I'm not sure that there's anything WRONG with this, per say, but I just don't like it. It smells kind of like wax to me. It's very sweet, not really cloying, and there's some vanilla with a bunch of florals. It's just... not pleasant to me. Oh well. I'm still really glad I got to try this, though.

Oh, I'm so glad I finally get to try a Salon blend! IN THE IMP: Cool, pale, and crisp. Slightly powdery. Light florals with white mint and musk and some tea, and a hint of fruits. Interesting. It does smell really... quiet. Like everything is really still. It's a solemn, almost eerie silence, but not in a bad way. WET: It's more fruity than before, and there's less mint. Still powdery, but in a pleasant way. DRY: Peach with some white mint, and blue musk. A hint of florals. Really pretty, and evokes the image very well.
-
IN THE IMP: Mostly apples. With honey. Sweet and yummy. WET: Still apple and honey, but blended really well now. With florals starting to come out. WOAH, and there was a random blast of rose and something soapy that came and left in a few seconds. DRY: Apple with rose and a tiny bit of honey. Very, very pretty. Reminds me a lot of Persephone, except I like this one even better. I'm so glad all of my orders this time have turned out to be winners!
-
IN THE IMP: So pretty! Soft and lush flowers blooming by a beach. Very fresh, and makes me think of Hawaii. Or vacation brochures to Hawaii or other pretty exotic islands. WET: My goodness this one fades fast. DRY: Pretty much just how it was in the imp. This is such a gorgeous summer scent, I'm really liking it.
-
IN THE IMP: A lot of lemon with some green tea. WET: This is really, really light on me. Green tea with lemon and light florals? DRY: Lemony green tea, with a bit of florals. Pretty! But not very strong on me, so I'll have to slather.
-
IMP: Mmmm, like cocoa powder or a good dark chocolate truffle. WET: Uh-oh, some plastic. But I smell chocolate too. Gah. I will prevail! Wait, it's going away... It's now dark chocolate and something else DRY: A soft chocolate that's not entirely foody. Yay!

Red musk, vanilla bean, pomegranate, patchouli leaf and wild plum. Hm. This really isn't my kind of scent, but I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. IMP: Woah, thick and heavy musk and incense. Though I do smell some fruit. WET: The vanilla's making the blend sweeter now. Hm, and it smells like plastic. Or maybe it's just me. I'm confused; BPAL vanilla has never not worked on me. Oh, now it's more pleasant. A sweet vanilla with a really dark musk and a fruity tinge. And kind of strange, but not unpleasant, but I keep getting a bright, crisp aftersmell (... the olfactory version of the aftertaste?). Almost like mint? DRY: Dark, smoky, musky vanilla with a bit of the plum and pomegranate. Quite nice, actually. Gives off a mood similar to Black Lace.

I tried this once when I went to a friend's house, and I've been eager to get a decant of my own since then. IN THE IMP: Mmm, SO yummy. I smell a lot of the blackberry leaf. The honey musk is lovely and not the usual BPAL honey, which my nose does not like very much. And there's some green tea and spices. WET: Oh, the blackberry really comes out on me. It's turning really sweet, with some honey vanilla. And some spices, I think. I wish the green tea would come out more, though. DRY: Same as the wet stage. Foody but not. Really, really lovely
-
IN THE IMP: Oh, VERY thick, sweet, and creamy. And a strong booze note that makes me feel slightly lightheaded. Yummyyy. WET: Fading, and FAST. Still creamy, but not as thick and heavy as before, and the booze is lighter, too. DRY: Huh, nearly gone. A light, sweet cream with nutmeg. I guess I'll have to slather or reapply a lot to make this one last.
-
IN THE IMP: Something fruity that I can't identify, with a little chocolate, some tea, and orange. And some spices. But it smells very perfume-y and not foody in the slightest. Hm. It's very bright and cheery. (But the last time I opened the imp, it smelled a lot like Velvet to me. Which was all chocolate and sandalwood.) WET: Ooh, it turns darker and deeper. Everything's blended really well so I can't distinguish any particular note, but it's good. Pretty sweet, which must be the chocolate and vanilla coming out, and more sensual than before. ... And I'm also getting random wafts of plastic, which isn't very pleasant. I'm starting to wonder if a chocolate blend will ever work properly on me. DRY: Oh, the vanilla has come out a lot more, so it's very sweet and creamy. The plastic comes and goes. There's also some chocolate and sandalwood. It kind of gives me the same feeling Tamora does, in that it's warm and sweet, but in a sensual way.
-
IN THE IMP: A lot of pear. Really sweet, juicy pear. And I think I detect a bit of vanilla behind it. WET: Oh! Sweet pear and vanilla, very nice. I'm not really a big pear fan, but I like this. DRY: Soft but very sweet, almost like pear syrup and vanilla cream. Very pretty!

IN THE IMP: Soft, but really sweet florals. Almost cloying. And the smallest hint of vanilla. WET: Ooh, the vanilla's starting to come out. So pretty! ... Wait. It's turning into rubber. What on earth? Oh, it's gone again. I'm confused. DRY: Mmm, such a pretty floral vanilla blend! My dryer sheets are orchid vanilla, and my clothes just out from the dryer kind of smell like this. Interesting, though, it does feel like there's something darker underneath that soft, pink prettiness. Just like the character, I suppose.

IN THE IMP: Immediately, it makes me think of Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea. Green Tea and Spiced Green Tea are actually my mom's signature scents, so this reminds me of her. Just by that association, this smells warm and comforting and mature to me. But the lemon in this does make it a brighter and more cheery scent. WET: Strong lemon that's almost bitter, like lemon rind. Smells kinda like bathroom cleaner. DRY: Yep, smells like Green Tea, except, well, this is nicer. Light musk with green tea and lemon to balance. Definitely "light and pure", with just enough citrus to brighten it up. Such a pretty scent, but I don't think I can ever wear it without thinking of my mom.

IN THE IMP: Astringent florals, with a hint of fruits in the background? And sweet. It kind of reminds me of Eos, so there must be either honeysuckle or jasmine in here. WET: Gets a bit fruity. And a lot of honeysuckle. DRY: Actually, all honeysuckle. Sweet and pretty, but I'm not sure if it's worth keeping.

Got this one as a frimp. IN THE IMP: Woah, strong. Sweet, spicy, and smoky, though I can't identify any of the notes. Also something that smells like sour fake cherry, though I guess it must be the pomegranate. WET: Very sweet, less spicy than before, and almost a bit soapy. The fruit note is actually distinguishable as pomegranate now. DRY: Er, a lot of soap. With something sweet and spicy underneath. I'll try it again later, but it seems to be a no right now.

Frimp with my 2nd ever BPAL order! IN THE IMP: Oh, yummm. Rich, buttery cake with spices and maraschino cherries. And hints of booze. WET: More yummy cake with spices, and less of the cherries. Which is good, because I don't like cherries all that much. And still a little of the booze. Reminds me a lot of Gingerbread Poppet with cherries instead of ginger. DRY: Still spicy cake. Very warm and comforting, and it makes me vaguely nostalgic, even though I've never eaten fruitcake in my life. How very odd. [Edit] After an hour or two, it's a really warm, brown, sugary cake. Rich and buttery. Mmmmmm.

IN THE IMP: I have absolutely no experience with aquatics, so bear with me. Smells like citrus and florals with a sharp tang that definitely makes me picture lightning. Very different from what I'm used to, I'm liking it a lot more than I thought I would! WET: Gets a bit saltier on my skin. Watery with some florals, and more of that "electric" smell. Nice! DRY: A soft aquatic with florals, and a little of that electric scent. Crisp, clean, and fresh. A very blue scent. Makes me feel like I'm lounging on the porch of a beach house, and it's sunny but cool, and the breeze is tangy from the ocean. Very pretty.

IN THE IMP: Woah, strong, sweet floral. Heavy but not thick, though I don't think that makes much sense. Very white and yellow. WET: Oh, there's a soap-ish note coming out. Uh oh. And still some honeysuckle. I guess it must be the jasmine doing this to me. DRY: Honeysuckle soap. Oddly enough, I kind of like it. Must try again later and re-evaluate.
