This is a special Alicia vs Judy review! I am Alicia & I'll be posting our reviews Alicia (me): general review- This smelled fruity at first on me. Then...after drying, it smelled of confectioner's sugar. Then a couple hours later... sugar & something else.. maybe a little vanilla & spice. Judy: General review- Frankincense & fruit! Frankincense! More frankincense! Still, frankincense. Edit to add: I tried this again today &it's morphed into something a little more sensible. I can smell the vanilla & leather. It's a nice combination. There's also a bite of sage. But, there's still an oddly fruity smell in there at the start. This time around the sage irritated my skin a little One more note. the musk does not come out at all on me in this. This is weird. Musk is usually amped on me.

Snake oil & the snake pit in the past have both turned to evil on my skin. But, against all common sense, I have put aged snake oil on one wrist & boomslang on the other. These are the results for Boomslang. In the bottle: Snake oil & chocolate. More the snake oil than the chocolate. & very "exotic oil" snake oil at that. It's sharp. Wet: OMG, this oil is DARK!! I'm glad I read previous reviews & knew to shake it up. See above for the scent. The chocolate is a little more pronounced Dry down: The powder that comes up for me in snake oil is coming up here, but it makes the chocolate smell like... dark chocolate nesquik- if that makes any sense at all. Too sweet to be cocoa. Too dry to be candy. After an hour or two: It smells like snake oil. Maybe a tad sharper (probably because it's new), and a bit heavier due to the chocolate. I could see it being good (but not great) after aging it a while. So, I'm going to try that.

I have tried Snake oil once before. My skin hated it. My skin has hated the snake pit. Yet, I keep trying. I have acquired a 5ml bottle with approx an imp's worth of aged snake oil in it. From what I understand, aged snake oil is to snake oil what 72% cocoa is to chocolate. So, despite common sense, I have put aged snake oil on one wrist & boomslang on the other. These are the results for the aged snake oil. In the bottle: Less sharp than a fresh imp/bottle. The vanilla is more evident than the exotic oils. But, I can still smell the oils loud & clear. Wet: More of the same, with a note of powder to it. Dry down: The vanilla is fuller now, and the powder (thank goodness) is toning down the exotic oils. I'm hoping the powder will fade off & leave the oils tamed. After an hour or two: Slightly powdered exotic oils. The vanilla fades to a kind of faint backnote. Sadly, Snake Oil remains "Not for me." to the swap pile it goes.

Finally picked up sturgeon moon. I also got Agrat-bat-mahlat (sp?) and a pack of imps. I've updated my "I have/like" & "wish" lists accordingly. I tried on some of the halloween/autumn stuff & most of the grindhouse agiain. I finally decided there were only 2 grindhouse ladies that worked for me. And only one i loved. So, I got Agrat. I met up with Stephanie & we exchanged imps. She's such a sweetie.

In the bottle through dry: Fruity, juicy pomegranate & blooming roses. The pomegranate gets warmer and blends into the rose after an hour or so. But, it's a sweet background note for the next few hours After a night of dancing: I still smell the rose after 4 hours of dancing. Not anywhere near as strong. But, still noticable by ... those standing very close... yes... *ahem* The next morning: A faint whiff of rose is there close to my skin. But otherwise it's gone In a scent locket: This goes strong and true for hours in the scent locket. It gets to the stage where the pomegranate is a sweet background note, then it stays. Now, I'll note here that I'm not normally big on roses. They get too heady for me sometimes. But, Persephone really works for me because the rose & pomegranate blend so well. That and I like pomegranate.

Bruised violet - I keep trying this at lunacy events. I like it. And that surprises me because I'm not big on patchouli Violet Ray - In theory, I should love this. But, I tried it on & it went to baby powder on me. Saturnalia - Violet and sweet darkness that morphs into a more "planty" violet scent. I really love this one. Faith - As per its description, sugared violet. I am very fond of this scent. It stays well on me.

Tracy is my hero She picked up the SGA set for me at Comic Con. In the bottle: Tart, crisp apples. YumyumYum! Wet: The afore mentioned apples, with a minty chill, and... something that slightly mutes the apple (the "glass," I presume) Drydown: The mint is a bit stronger now. The apples are more muted- almost background. The "glass" impeding the apples is a musk. My skin is doing its usual amping of musk. But, it's an "innocent" musk, if that makes any sense. Airy & light despite that my skin is a catalyst for musk. It's a nice mix at all with the apple & mint. Aftermath: The apples are almost gone & the mint is stronger. I can get the tightly restrained apple if my nose is close to the skin. The mint is faint as well. The musk has settled comfortably at a low roar. And there's now a light floral scent in there. Wow, this stuff morphs. I was wildly in love with SGA as a prototype. But, I never sniffed after initial drydown. I can't decide if I like it or not. I LOVE the story book it came with. That, I will most certainly be keeping. I guess I'll give SGA a couple more tries before I decide. Edit to add: Keeping! I just layered it with Saturnalia. ZOMG, heaven!

It's always so fun to go to the will calls! Chatting with people who get the madness & sniffing all the pretty scents. I made a new friend, Stephanie. We split A Hope/Faith set. I got Dyan Moon & Long Night Moon baby doll shirts... and a 5ml of Saturnalia (can you tell i like violet?). I loved Sturgeon moon. Aquatic, but fresh. It smells almost tasty! Penumbra had a note of sweat in the purpley goodness, so I didn't even apply it. Crawdad started off with sugary fruity goodness. But, it faded fairly quickly down to blueberry on me. I ended up sniffing & testing the grindhouse & snake pit. I have come to the conclusion that snake oil dislikes me, with the exception of boomslang. This is disappointing. But, I guess it's best for my wallet. Only one of the grindhouse gals smelled nicely on me. I, sadly, cannot remember which. It was sugary/desserty though. So, there's only a couple it could have been Anyway, I believe i'll be ordering chaos theory & sturgeon moon. I love the idea of chaos theory!

Original descriptions: Skydancer - She was rather moody growing up. But, she has come into her own since maturing. Though still a tad insecure, she has a powerful voice that has been known to soothe drough stricken lands, and level entire forests. Yet, she also has a sense of humour. She assures me that she has nothing to do with the static electricity being so bad today Wajah - Wajah is a special dragon. She sits in a burrowed hole and comments loudly at the world. But, unlike Oscar the Grouch, she is cheering the world on. She always has a smile and a friendly holler for you. We don't know why she cheers. But, she does so with a solid determination. Rock on, Wajah. Rock on. Sunriser - Sunriser is our little ball of energy. She literally is up with the sun every single morning. I've been trying to channel her energy into something productive, but she won't focus! I thought she'd grow out of this by now. Oh, no... she just took off with the twins!!! Sunriser!!!! They're eggs, not toys! Shy Violet - What is there to say about Violet? She loves her namesake. For her BPALs, she switches between Faith & Saturnalia. She is quiet, demure, perhaps a little fussy at times. She's the one responsible for the lace curtains and aromatic diffusers in the cave. Her scales are perfectly ordered, and any egg or hatchling in her path is thoroughly clean. ------------- Updates: Skydancer: Skydancer disavows any knowledge of humidity & flash flood warnings. She also has pointed out that she's a girl and has taken up wearing Violet Ray. I suspect Shy Violet's influence. Wajah: Wajah loves you. Wajah says you smell pretty. Wajah smells of my missing bottle of Bliss. Sunriser: Sunriser has a new hobby. I'm not sure what it is, beyong it involving yarn. But, it keeps her occupied and out of trouble. So, as far as I'm concerned, she's knitting. Shy Violet: Shy Violet's circle of tidiness has expanded. She is wearing Saturnalia today. She and Patty are attempting to go vegan. Nite Sprite: Has developed an avid interest in UFC. His favorite fighter has a broken nose & twisted shuolder right now, but still fights. Nite Sprite informs me this means the man is strong. For Nite's sake I won't state my opinion on the matter. Nite tends to go out at nights for his own fights. Does anyone know what a "triangle" is? Lala Orange: Lala is a quiet, studious sort. I have no idea where she gets those musty old books from, but, she reads them as avidly as I read scifi & fantasy novels. So, there must be something to them. We both are Guppies fans (Go Guppies!). So, we have something to bond over. Lala seems to like TAL more than BPAL. She says she's wearing White Light right now. Something about Sunriser swiping a red thread & her needing to recenter herself. Patty O'Green: She's quietly persuing a life of compassion. She's vegan. She cares for the hatchlings. She raises money for charities. (She even has me doing a walk for lupus! Walk for Lupus) She may be small, but she's going to make a difference! The twins Red Butler: Red is wearing Brimstone. Or did he just start a fire? I' need to keep an eye on that one... The Dark Princess: Princess likes to shop. She has a new Louis Vutton bag. I'm not sure exactly how she got it. She's way to big to fit in a shop. But, she's a very successful shopper. She got me these gorgeous red shoes with multiple straps that trace like a ladder to right above the ankles... Oh, her BPAL? Well, she claims to only wear Creed. But, she smells an awful lot like The Hanging Gardens. The nursery The eggs and hatchlings are spotless (see Shy Violet). The little dino seems to think The Dark Princess is its mommy. She doesn't seem to have noticed. The little white and Patty get along wonderfully. Patty curls up next to the little one to keep it warm. Edit to add: The little white has gendered! He's a boy!! Welcome, Twink.

The Phantom Wooer In the vial: Immediate worry. I smell soap. Maybe a little lily. And I can smell the carrier oil. Wet: Much less soap. A very faint faint floral is developing. And something earthy. The moss? and mint?!?! Dry down: That very faint floral & the faint earthy scent. This is a hard scent to catch. If I keep my wrist in one place long enough, then I can catch a whiff. But, it has to build up in the air to be smelled weird. I had been hoping for more, as I am fond of moonflower.

in the vial: sweet smoke & woody resins (myrrh? frankincense?) wet: Sweet oily resins & smoke & cedar dry down: A definite cedar note blasting through, the sweetness is gone aftermath: Faint faint woody sweet smoke that varies between "dry" and "oily." I can't think of a better way to put it. This is an interesting scent. But, I'm not sure I want to smell like wood. (Can you tell I'm new to wood notes?) Oh! My male roommate insists that it smells like strong flowers. But, he says that about any perfume that isn't foody. Edit to add: I put it on the roomie. He gets the same wet & dry down notes. The cedar blast upon dry down is eye-watering on him. After about 20 minutes (and the end of his patience with the experiment), he announced it smells like "weird" then washed it off.

vial: grapefruit, sugary currant, musk wet: grapefruit & sugar, musk, currant dry: sugary musk & faint dried fruit- like the rind of the grapefruit aftermath: faintly sugared faint musk I think it would faded completely off if my skin didn't have a knack for amping sugar & musk. But, it's an interesting mix of starting notes.
-
So, peach, pear, lychee & citrus...
-
In the vial: burgundy & rose Wet: burgundy, rose & grit... yes, grit. I have no better way of describing it Dry down: The wine kind of fades to that scent of the wine glass after a red wine has been drank. That and something green, and more dirt notes. The rose is very faded in the background Aftermath: There's just a touch of grit & faded wine.

I second faith if you like sugar & violets. Midway is also good (if you like sugary funnel cake), but it doesn't last on some folk. Sugar moon is sweet- but berry & the Candy butcher is all sorts of sweet- but, you must like chocolate & vanilla for this one. I have yet to sniff anything that smells like freshly cut sugar cane. That has a green, almost bamboo to go with the golden oozing sweetness of the cane. I'd love that sort of scent.

in the bottle: Dark chocolate, like godiva dark chocolate, but with something else wet: the chocolate gets a little darker, like the 72% cocoa kind, and waffle cone!!! dry: Happy yay, the waffle cone is predominant, with the chocolate turning into the baking kind, and a hint of candy floss. I can practically taste it. hours later: faint amounts of the above. It's a more muddled sweetness after a couple of hours. I think this is something that has to be reapplied every couple of hours. But, it's worth it. I'm going to get another before the circus leaves town

I'm so glad I bought a 5ml before it was discontinued. I really like this fragrance. In the bottle: lemon, mint, lavender soap, almond. Wet: lemon verbena (possibly lemongrass), lavender, "green" and mint... hardly any almond Dry: mint is much stronger, the lavender is no longer soapy & is in the background. the lemongrass (it's lemongrass on me) is fading into the green. This is a beautiful fragrance, kind of like when you're drying herbs after harvesting them from the garden. After a couple hours: Faded mint, lavender, a little almond again, & dried herbs.

This was a decant Normally, I separate my reviews into stages from in the vial to a couple hours after dry down. But, Jester smells much the same in the vial as it does on after a few hours. It smells of cotton candy (candy floss) and berry. Juicier at first. Then, it smells a little "dry" and fainter after a couple hours. The juiciness doesn't last on me. But, the huckleberry's "cotton candy" fragrance lasts & lasts on me.
-
In the vial: Dark sugar and pepper, specifically white pepper. Wet: Sweet sugar and nuts- toffee? Maybe a bit of cinnamon. And still that pepper. Dry: Sweet hazelnut, the cinnamon is stronger, and the peppery edge has a bite like beer. After a couple hours: sweet pepper, cinnamon & (as asserted by my roomie) potpourri I'm not sure if I like this or not. It certainly was not the bakery shop scent I was hoping for.

*squeal* I got 13 (2008), Boomslang, and Velvet! Sadly, Boomslang did not come with a card. But, I am quite excited with my acquisitions. I must update my lists Hrm, I should do reviews as well.

Tamora Imp: Heliotrope and peach. And not the peach that’s sickly sweet. Just a light whiff of the fruit. Wet: The amber & heliotrope stick out more than the peach (which is still non sweet & yummy)- there is a light swirl of vanilla. Dry: The amber and vanilla are doing that rich dessert thing on my skin, but without the sweet- if that makes any sense at all. This is gorgeous, with the peach note over it, it’s like a sunset cloud on my wrists. The heliotrope is getting slightly powdery on me tho. Please don’t let this go to baby powder! After 2 hours: Gone. It never became very powdery though.
-
In the bottle: Almond oil. Bitter almond. And maybe a little blood orange & flower Wet: Almond and a little of rose and blood orange. Oh no. As it’s drying, I’m starting to get baby powder. Dry down: See all of that above? It fades fast into baby powder. On me 1 hour later: Gah – couldn’t take the baby powder anymore. I washed it off
-
In the bottle: Lemongrass hits like a punch to the head. very "sharp." Slightly reminiscent of urea (someone else mentioned "lemon zest"- it's probably the same thing). It's also strongly sweet. Wet: Sweetness, lemongrass & frankincense. Still sharp. Dry down: lemongrass, frankincense, & amber or some sort of musk. The lemongrass has other citrus notes as well- orange? tangerine? Definitely sweet. After a few hours: The lemon grass is now a waving herb in the background, giving some substance to the frankincense, which is now mixed with sweet citrus smoke. But, there's still that urea scent clinging. It's kinda like male sweat at this point. Maybe this would work better for a man?
-
Bottle: I get the "pineapple" note right away- it isn't exactly pineapple though. It's another lovely sweet fruit. A little sharpness of pine in here too. Also a hint of inscense. Wet: That fruit still, and sweet spice? It's a cross between a spicey fruit candy & fruity inscense. The pine note kinda blurs into the rest. I suspect the fruit contains both the sharpness & the juiciness. Dry down: Still sweet inscense, less fruit. and something like... baked goods? This is intriguing. It kind of reminds me of baklava. After 3 hours: Faint sweet inscence. I have a feeling this faint whisper of a scent will stick with me quite a while longer I was really wary of the mentions of frankinscence and olive- both of which sometimes trigger hostile allergies in me. But, all went quite well with this scent beyond a little nose tickle (which I believe is "all in my head" as my skin wasn't irritated one bit)
-
Bottle: Beautiful mint & sea-breeze & apple. Wet: Same as above, but a little warmer Dry down: The mint starts being kind of an "afterthought," then completely evaporates. The apple fades to nothing as well. It's more seabreeeze and something warm &... spice? Something that makes my nose tingle a little. Is that lime & gin as well? I also keep getting a feeling of "orange" which is different than "an orange"). This is something wholly unusual for me. I don't usually associate scent with colors. But, this smells like "orange." After 1.5 hours: Almost everything is completely gone. Just something warm and vaguely reminiscent of the way my skin smells after a day at the beach- minus sunblock. This fades very fast, but I like it while it lasts --- aged----2017--- What was that gum? With the strong spearmint note? Doublemint? I get a blast of that straight out of the bottle & when wet. Kinda over powers anything else. After a bit, the iris comes out to play and grows (probably because my skin nowadays amps iris/orris). I can feel the amber in it (amber never "develops" on me tho). Everything else kind of melted together into a faint "gin" sort of fragrance, that fades away fast. After an hour mint/iris/touch of amber.
