When I popped the top I knew I'd smelled this before, but it was evading me where... At first I thought it was just a more robust version of the bee and bicycle sandalwood Chinese soap. Then the image popped into my head, yes, this smells exactly like my mum's Oil of Olay... weird. Not exactly what I think of for Destroyer of Men... well not in the conventional sense.

I like this very much. It's rather like being in the orchid house at Longwood in winter. The jasmine is sweetened a lot by the pear but the cedar gives it water, somehow. It's beautifully fresh. I'm actually huffing my arm. Not a lot of throw but more than most of the others of this series has had for me. Doesn't last too long either, I'm losing most of these after only a few minutes, but it's also hanging on more than the rest. It may be a bottle.

For a moment I thought his had benzoin in it, it's got that tang. No grapefruit at all, just Vetiver and Patchouli making a lovely bonfire scent. I taste this more than smell it and I get just a touch of the pepper. Fades rather quickly, as have all of these. Not much throw either. I like it though, it reminds me of Pennsic.

Boom cloved orange with... what's that underneath? mmmm anise seed. Yum. Reminds me of Clod and Pebble in the clove dept but the orange sweetens it up. The orange and the anise shift back and forth a bit but that makes it nice to sniff. The clove is always there, sort of making the tip of my tongue seem numb. Not much in the way of lasting or throw but I still think this will be a bottle.

Opening the imp gives me a lovely hint of tangerine with a touch of something stalk like underneath. Very light. As soon as I put it on it fades out to a vague scent that must be the cypress. Gone before I get the cap back on

On me this is almost exactly the same as Clod and Pebble. The clove is yummy and its very fresh.

imp: scorched butterscotch. wet: less scorch more cookie dry: cookie gone and now scorched butterscotch candle FAIL This is just hideous waxy plasticy yuck. And it will not come off. :cry2:

Clove, smoke and the tiniest tinge of tobacco. I like it but it's too close to St. John's Eve for me to get a whole bottle. But I could be wrong

sadly not candy corn but scorched butterscotch.

Sour cherry hard candy with the juicy middle. My mouth waters on every sniff. Not as long lasting or as much throw as I'd like, but delicious none the less. Might need a second bottle.

in the imp: I've smelled this before, a long time ago... wet: I now know this is jasmine and something else. Something just slightly bitter tasting, must be the myrrh. And I can taste rose stems. dry: delicious. rich and warm. It rotates in waves between the jasmine and the woody but it isn't really floral as such. It holds a nice long time without being overpowering. I love this. Deeply and a bottle will be in the next order.

snagged a bottle of this. vastly disappointing on me. in bottle: Shanghai like. wet: A bit of verbena and shanghai. on: well that didn't last long. no throw and my skin ate it in under 15 minutes. If I huff my wrist I get a bit of Shanghai. off to the bottle selling box.
-
I'm wearing it now... It's very light in the imp. Tea rose only lighter and sandalwood, only not dusty. wet: lighter version of London. with spice. Dry: rose fades and the sandalwood and plum meld in with it. It's fruity/rosy and pleasant. Close to the skin but still rick and tasty.
-
in bottle: smokiness wet: Fearful Pleasure without the apple and lighter. dry: sadly fades to the barest whiff of smoke rather swiftly. Doesn't last long but I enjoy its smokiness while it lasts.

Best BPALs for SUMMER - is it hot, sweltering, sticky outside?

I like Phantasm, Lick it, Kumiho and Shanghai. Clean citrus and tea or light mint. If you like cucumber, squirting cucumber is really fresh. -
Earl Grey tea meets Yardley's olde English Lavender soap. Absolutely delicious and I may need another bottle.

I tried this today for Inauguration. bottle: sweetish. I can see where the honey might be coming from. wet: same. dry: Oh dear... this must have amber, its going right into latex and baby powder. Straight off as soon as I find someone who wants it.

Some of you will know what I mean, but this smells like Pennsic. On Merchants row, near the Perfumed Dragon during Midnight madness. Smoke and resins and light musk. Nifty!
-
imp/wet & dry: sugary candy cane explosion! I have to say I don't get any vanilla (thankfully) just straight up sugary mintiness. delicious
-
OMG total aquatic love... Same in the imp and wet, juniper berry aquatic goodness. On drydown the lavender comes up a bit more but still fresh aquatic heavenliness. <3

imp: citrus, tea and ginger YUM! wet: the same dry: a bit less citrus but yay! Like Kumiho only with citrus. It morphs a bit between lemon and grapefruit, both of which I love. It needs replenishing often but that's a hardship I can deal with. Big bottle on the way.

In the bottle: light incensy blend/woody Wet: lovely spice. I totally get the myrrh, clove, nutmeg and dark musk. It has a similar feel to the Catterpillar but no patchouli dirtiness. There's a touch of wood but its not drying. Dry: A flash of the orange comes up. It's not juicy at all, but more rind/dried in feel. It's sublte but yummy. This is gorgeous. I love the Catterpillar and this is the lighter, non headshop version of it. It sits close to the skin but holds on a long time. Very Yulie and wonderful.

in the bottle: burnt sugar and brown sugar wet: Burnt brown sugar with a bit of barely there candied fruit. dry: gooey burnt sugar Not at all what it sounded like. No fruit and far too thick and heavy.

I think I may have had 2 that were mislabeled. I had an imp of 2,5,7 that had no smell at all and a bottle of Parlement of Foules 08 with a similar lack of rose. I know Beth's white Rose doesn't seem to register but the others do. (and deliciously so) so I'm mystefied by these. I even got the roommate to sniff and he was like "there's nothing"

in the bottle: Citrus! Yum. I get the lemon and grapefruit and it's delicious. wet: Burst of Citrus! Floating grapefruit and the lime sneaking in. There's an undercurrent of something buttery and nasty which I suspect is the pumpkin. dry: the nasty buttery thing fights with the gorgeous lime and grapefruit. It's winning. It also now is very close to the skin and the citrus is going quick. fast dry down, low throw and short life. I don't get any mint as such. I think it is the subtle sweetness that keeps the citrus from going too sharp. The lime is GORGEOUS. What I'm assuming is the pumpkin ruins this for me. I'd like this without the pumpkin please!
