    Persephone

This is the second time I've worn this and I still can't decide if I like it. I hadn't read the description in a few months when I swiped this on. I immediately smelled a heavy floral which I was concerned about, since florals often turn sickly sweet on me. But as it was drying, the pomegranate came out in force. Mmmm yummy pomegranate. Unfortunately, now that it's dry, the scent slightly resembles the smell of someone getting a perm. Burning hair and chemicals. If I put my nose right up to my wrist, I can smell the roses, but none of the yummy pomegranate. Up close, it's not so bad. But every time I catch a faint whiff, I remember being a receptionist at the Great Clips in high school when the little old ladies would come in for their perms. *shiver* The ironic thing is that this is the only BPAL that my boyfriend has actually said "Hey, you smell really good." So I guess it doesn't smell like perms to everyone. I'll probably use up the imp (and maybe learn to appreciate the rose smell) but won't be ordering any more. Hopefully my Swank keeps more of a pomegranate smell to it.

    Envy

I wore this one last weekend. It is soooooooooooooo yummy. Unlike Paris, there were definite notes of lavender in Envy. The mint didn't come out on me at all. This one smelled green. Just green. Like wet grass and fresh herbs being cut up in the kitchen, or the stems of freshly picked flowers. Not floral at all, but still feminine, I think. Maybe because of the lavender. I *LOVED* this one. I'm going to have to get a 5 or 10 ml of it because, unfortunately, my skin just sucks it up and it fades much much much too fast. Envy is probably my favorite scent so far.

    Paris

When I opened the bottle, Paris was candy-sweet, almost medicinal smelling to me. Sloshing a bit more on than I planned to, the icky sweetness (lotus?) stayed until the oil completely dried on my wrist. It's now morphed into a more mature spice, though some of the sweetness is still peeking through. I honestly don't smell any lavender, which is disappointing because I bought this scent because of the lavender. The spices sort of smell like nutmeg and maybe a little kick of cinnamon, but I'm not sure. It's a dark, mysterious scent, but not musky at all. My body chemistry is a little off today (even my deodorant smelled weird on me) so I'll have to try Paris out again. Ew. Ew. After a few hours the candy sweet smell is back. Not good. Not good at all. Sigh. I *really* wanted this to work on me.

    Tiger Lily

I was so worried Tiger Lily was going to go super sweet on me, like so many florals do. But it didn't! And I couldn't be more pleased. In the bottle it smells like lilies, soft and summery. On my skin it actually became stronger, and as usual, sweeter. But it's the honey sweet, not the floral sweet that gives me a headache. This is a very elegant scent on me. Something to wear on a night out. I like this one, but I don't think I could wear it every day.

    Titania

When I open the bottle I smell sweet fruit, mostly peach and ... a little grape. But it's not fresh fruit. It's the dried kind soaked in confectioners sugar. On my wrist the sugary smell goes away a little, but it still smells juicy with a strong dose of sweet. Sweet, but good sweet. Almost like pez :-) It actually reminds me a little of a Bonnie Bell perfume I had when I was 6 or 7. Which is not a bad thing. This would be an excellent summer scent. Unfortunately it fades away really quickly. I slathered a bunch on this morning and now, two hours later, I can barely smell it at all.

Recs for those who can't do sweet perfumes?

Fishwoman, I'm in the same boat you are. I just received my first BPAL, Tempest. I tried it on and after the first blast of grape fruit, it immediately went sweet on me. Waaaaaaay too sweet. So I'm paying attention to this thread! I'll let you know if anything works for me in my next order. I also love the Origins Ginger line, so if you find anything at BPAL that's similar, let me know!
