    Tristran

In the bottle: Sweet woody top note, patchouli bottom note. Dry on skin: On me it doesn't change much. I mostly get sweet woods and a bit of tonka. Maybe a slight whiff of patchouli. Good throw, long lasting.

    Samhain

2005 Version! In the bottle: Smoky and dark. Bottom note of spices with a teeny hint of sweet. Dry on skin: On my skin it's all smokey and dark fir and patchouli. This one has LONG lasting power and a huge throw. I can smell it every time I open the wooden box it's kept in.

    Pinched With Four Aces

In the bottle: Sweet coffee with a teeny hint of spice. Dry on skin: Cinnamon, with deep dark tobacco and coffee notes. Glad I was able to get a bottle directly from the lab during one of the eBay auctions. The first time I wore it, I didn't like it. At all. Gave it another chance today and it's scrumptious. Whew.

    Kostnice

In the bottle: Woody! Maybe the rosewood? Also a bit floral. On skin: Still woody with a bit of a bitter rose or geranium bottom that is smoothing out as it drys.

    Yerevan

In the bottle: Mmm. Fruity!! Apricot!! Maybe some plum. Dry on skin: Apricot still seems to be the top note. Teeny bit of either the plum or the pom. Getting some musk as a bottom. Yum!!

    Phantom

This is one that smells pretty much the same in the bottle as it does dry on my skin. It's kind of a dark powdery smell. Musky. Lots of of myrrh and ylang. I can barely get a whiff of rose in the background.

    Vinland

In the bottle: Fruity floral. Made my mouth water a little (I must be really hungry!) Dry on skin: It's got a very nice dry down. I keep getting whiffs of roses. When I sniff directly, it's a nice floral but I can't pick out any single notes.

    Clio

This was one of the first of 13 frimps I received from the lab back in July of last year. When the muses were being discontinued, I had to invest in a bottle. In the bottle: Spiced orange, maybe the benzoin? Amber and patchouli in the background. Can't smell any lavender. Dry on skin: Still very orange to me, but a dark amber spicy orange with a bottom note of patchouli.

    Erato

The Lovely. She is the Muse of mimicry, and inspires both erotic and romantic poetry. She is crowned in roses, holding a lyre. Her scent inspires creative expressions of love and lust: a crush of roses with sweet pea, myrrh, ylang ylang, orris and stephanotis. In the bottle: I smelled without looking at the description first. Impression: Roses as a top note. Something darker as a bottom note. After looking at the description, I can smell a bit of sweet pea. Dry on skin: Roses still. This reminded me of "Victoria" all day (The Stardust Victoria.) But it has a bottom note that Victoria doesn't, so it IS different. Good throw and longevity.

    Lick It One More Time

Sweet sweet peppermint candy stick. Creamy and smooth. Refreshing mint. Candy canes gone wild! The one foody scent my boyfriend likes!!

    Midway

Resurrected Sweet sweet Midway. How I shouldn't wear you when I'm hungry. Sniffing my wrist I'm getting sweet sweet dark candy. No particular candy or treat is leaping out at me, it's more a mishmash of their fragrances lingering on my fingers after indulging in a few. Sticky sweet and scrumptious.

    Hony Mone

In the bottle: Hmm. I can't smell the honey at all. Honeysuckle, Jasmine, and a sweetness that could be the tonka. Dry on Skin: Sweetened up a bit but still a dark floral. Jasmine, Honeysuckle, tonka - almost musky! Not getting any of the fig, apricot, or carnation. Loving it though.

    Calliope

In the bottle: Lavender and verbana. Bottom note of mint. Wet on skin: Still a nicely blended lavender and citrus. Still bottom note of mint. As it dries down the lavender comes to the front, the lemon verbana dies down a little, and the bergamot comes up. The thyme comes out as a bottom note. I'm getting imagines of french cuisine! I can feel the mint tingly on my skin. Dry on skin: Now that it's dry, it's mostly lavender and thyme with some citrus-mint in the background. This disappears really fast on me. I put some on before work the other day and I did not get whiffs all day like I usually do. And I don't put things on sparingly -- I do inside inside wrists, elbows, and both sides of the neck. I wore it again today hoping it would stick around. Nope, gone again. Put it on after my shower around noon, it was gone before 2pm. A very nice herbal scent. Worth reapplying if you're a lavender thyme fan.

    The Tell-Tale Heart

I slathered some of this one for the first time right before I ran out the door to work. All day long I keep thinking I'm wearing Dark Delicacies. 0_o Which is totally scrumptious and I love it. I need to sit down when I have some time to do a better review, but I wanted to get my first impression down while I have a quick break from work. In the bottle: mmm. dark. I think I am smelling the musk and resin. It's heady, dark, sexy, and not at all heavy with dread -- but very much pulsating. Mmm. Wet on skin: Resin, musk, some of the allspice and pepper are coming out. Vetiver and cocoa deep down. Dry on skin: It still reminds me of Dark Delicacies (because I tried that one first!) -- must be the resin? Nice throw, lasts a good long time. Got whiffs all day long.

    Moon of Ice

In Bottle: In the bottle it's very Ice Prince to me. Sweet pine or fir. Almost fruity. Definitely cold and snowy. Dry on Skin: Sniffing the wrist reveals chilly lunar herbs and pine. It's a little sweet. I can't really distinguish the eucalyptus. Not very floral to me either. Sniffing the inside elbow is where the Samhain hints come from. I'm going to have start applying oil on the wrists AND elbow on a regular basis to see if they morph differently.

    Thaleia

In the bottle: Honeyed fruit, mostly orange. The base notes are more complex and well blended, but very yummy. Teeny bit floral. Wet on skin: A little bit bitter for a second, then warm and smooth honey with gardenia and orange. Still very complex base notes. Dry on skin: The gardenia has calmed down again and we're back to honeyed orange with a lot more apricot. Very yummy - sweet, fruity and floral.

    Smut

In the bottle: Very faint. A little boozy. Wet on skin: A little more medicinal, still sweet and a teeny boozy. Dry on skin: Musky but not really a dark musk. Fairly light. A little sweet. Pretty nice, but I'll probably want to layer something with it. In the scent locket: A lot sweeter and a little boozy. Not nearly as musky! Hmm. I used a blotter pad that came with this scent locket (not a bpal locket), I wonder if different types of fabric will change the scent. I'm going to wait and see what some aging does to this.

    Love's Philosophy

In the bottle: Buttery sweet mouthwatering vanilla. Wet on skin: On the second try, I *really* slathered* it on. Like.. a LOT. It was so wet, it was running down my arm. And that was the point where I could see people think it is a little minty while it is wet. Maybe wintergreen minty. Weird! Dry on skin: It is a little reminescent of Snow White but a warm, snuggly, Snow White. Snuggled up in a goose down comforter with a hot mug of vanilla milk. Now that it's dry, all I get is warm vanilla, cream, and a touch of something else that must be the saffron. YUM. I could smell this ALL DAY LONG. Decent throw. :D I'll be ordering more bottles of this before it's gone.

    Terpsichore

In the bottle: Sweet with a hint of floral. Wet on skin: Same -- sweet floral. Dry on skin: I think I am mostly smelling the sweet pea and iris, sweetened by the vanilla. It's not a bad scent, but it isn't my favorite.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

holy crap, that is the same reaction I had from the icon. I was all, "no, that can't really be him..." *shakes head and ignores* Which is doubly weird because a customer on the phone mentioned Rick Astley to me on Friday and I was shrieking "NO NO NO NO STOP STOP BAD BAD IMAGE" and giggling madly. He was vastly amused. I really like Dark Delicacies but it seems like more a night time goth club sexy blend instead of a beautiful woodsy innocent wedding blend. I don't think I have any beautiful innocent woodsy things. But Hamadryad did come to mind (ok, I do have a brand new bottle of that - it arrived Monday with my huge order of discontinueds and I haven't tried it yet.) Ok, I take that back, I have Peony Moon and it's very beautiful and innocent.

    Alone

In the bottle: Cinnamon. Wha??? *looks at notes* Hmm, no cinnamon?? I cook with cardamom a lot and I know the difference between cardamom and cinnamon. This is NOT cardamom. Wet on skin: Still cinnamon. Red hots. Dry on skin: The cinnamon cools a little bit and some other notes come out to play faintly in the background. But still mostly cinnamon. It was gone within an hour so I had to reapply.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Re: Muses I have all of them, one of my "to do" list items is to take photos and upload them. I was looking through the photos the other day and saw a of bottles in general bunch missing that I can add.

    Jólasveinar

(2006 version) In the bottle: Mossy top note, earthy, a little pine? Sweet bottom note. Wet on skin: Sweet almost spicy cookies. Cold snowy green in the background. Dry on skin: I can feel the cold on my skin now. This is a wonderful scent, very wintry. Sweet pastries are there, snow is there, snow covered woods are there. WIN.

    Faustus

An infusion of incalculable power and irresistible temptation. Truly an exercise in megalomania and self-gratification: frankincense and cinnamon, darkened by violet. In bottle: Soapy violet. ack. Wet on skin: Skin immediately warmed up. Still soapy violet. Dry on skin: Now the cinnamon is coming out a little bit, layered under the frankincense. Still a lot of violet but much much nicer now. Soap is gone. Now it's spicy but still too floral for me.

    Van Van

In the bottle: Lemony sugar. Powdery bottom. Wet on skin: Lemony sweet top note still, something darker lurking underneath. I can't tell what it is. Still smells good. Dry on skin: Wow, this one has a ton of throw for me and lasts forever. I could still smell it in everything that touched my neck or hands (scarf, jacket, wrist warmers, etc.) DAYS later. Very nice scent, uplifting and energizing. I think this might be one that smells different on my neck as opposed to my hands or changes drastically during different times of the month. On my hand it is totally retaining the lemon sugar scent with a slightly dark undertone. On my neck it becomes less sweet and the dark comes out to play.
