In the bottle: Eh? Creamy vanilla? This almost smells like Sugar Cookie but not as spicy. Mmmmm. Wet on skin: woah. Cookies are gone. This grinning mouth slouched by and ate them. But it brought some fruit in exchange -- guava and banyan fruit. Very sweet still. Dry on skin: Still creamy. Guava and banyan fruit are still hanging around, grinning. A hint of cherry blossom. Can't smell the hibiscus at all (and that's usually tart and sharp to me.) Not very much lemon coming in either. Maybe a hint of herbal bottom but I can't tell what. Very very nice. Glad I ordered two extra bottles.

In the bottle: Mm. Sweet sticky honey. Maybe a tiny bit of mint? Wet on skin: Tea with honey. Orange blossom. Lemon. Smells like the rinds from the little itsy bitsy oranges and lemons that our indoor trees produced. Or maybe it's reminding me of my Mock Orange bush when flowering. A nice orange-lemony honey. Dry on skin: Yum. This is almost foody with the sweet citrus. It's still pretty much honeyed orange blossom with a teeny tiny bit of lemon.

In the bottle: Honeyed mead top, warm oak note on the bottom. Wet on skin: Still honey with a woodsy oak incensey note. Dry on skin: Incense is coming to the top. Some spice (from the carnation?) I think the copal and gum arabic are making themselves known. Honey is still waving its little arms at me. Definitely a floral note going on in there now, incense has died back a bit as the florals emerge. Honeysuckle is coming out. Hm. Honeyed warm woodsy/incensey floral. Very nice. I can see wearing it during the summer, especially on a warm night outside by a fire.

In the bottle: bergamot tea. Wet on skin: Still top note of bergamot. A little sweet. Dry on skin: Obtaining depth. Musky bergamot with a hint of jasmine. Sweetened by vanilla.
-
In the bottle: Kind of a green sweet woody incense. Wet on skin: Musk, lily, and frankincense are all there blended. The lily is the lightest part, giving a tinge of sweetness. Dry on skin: Musk top with a bottom of woody sweet floral.

In the bottle: Very faint. Getting a little bit of aloe. Wet on skin: Picking up some musk, lime, lemon verbena, and maybe some of the tea. Dry on skin: Limey. But kind of a musky lime with a tea bottom note. Clean and light.

CMXXXIV In the bottle: Mint. Citrus. Tea? Refreshing. Wet on skin: Minty citrus tea still. Maybe a little woody in the background. Dry on skin: Citrus is coming out to play. Orange or grapefruit? A little lemony. Faint backdrop of a sweet mint. Yummy. Summery. Refreshing. A little bit of a woody, like cedar or sandalwood, background. Very nice.

In Bottle: Floral but NICE. I don't like florals and this is somewhat compelling. Wet on skin: Sweet heavy darkish floral. Still nice. Dry on skin: Wow, I didn't think I would like this, but it's actually wearable. It's not something I would normally wear -- not a sweet floral type of girl -- but yeah, I like it. Sadly I don't think it's one I would wear but I'm glad I got to try it.

In the bottle: Fruity booze. Almost like what you'd be smelling after calling ralph on the big white phone. Wet on skin: Oranges. Teeny tiny bit of booze. Dry on skin: Soft orange. MUCH nicer now that it's dry. Still a hint of booze in the background but not ralph-phone booze. Wasn't going to try this because of the initial scent.... but it's actually pretty nice on your skin.

In the bottle: Sandalwood cocoa, yum!!! Wet on skin: Same. Pretty much a 50-50 blend for me. Dry on skin: The sandalwood has taken over a bit, with some rich hints of cocoa vanilla. Maybe I can get away with wearing this (ie, without the boyfriend holding his nose because I smell like food.)
-
In the bottle: Dark vanilla'd jasmine. Maybe a touch of gardenia. Almost smells like sandalwood to me but none in there? Wet on skin: More gardenia is coming out. Mmm Gardenia is one of my favorite flowers to wear as a corsage. Can't ever seem to grow them, though -- they bud but then don't bloom. Dry on skin: Sweet sweet vanilla gardenia. On one hand, YUM! And on the other, Drat! I'm not a big floral girl, perfume wise. I like my flowers fresh to sniff in a bowl or a vase. Might be a teeny tiny hint of grapefruit coming out now. Jasmine is blending more with the gardenia.

In the bottle: Fermenting fruit. Wet on skin: Pineapple??? Creamy fruity. Wow. Dry on skin: Still sweet fruits. Yummy. Deepening. No longer fermented smelling. I was totally expecting milk and honey, not so much fruit!
-
In the bottle: Aquatic. Well blended, very hard for my poor nose to pick out the individual scents. Light and summery. Wet on skin: Aloe? Still just a very summery aquatic scent. Dry on skin: Feminine, light, summery. Still very aquatic. No fear or poison. Maybe SLIGHTLY cypress-y. A little sweet, maybe that is the berries. I'm not really big into aquatics or feminine scents, but wow. This is nice. *edit* I can still smell this on my hand after taking a shower.

In the bottle: Oof. Strong! Dark, earthy. Reminiscent of damp leaves. Smoky. Wet on skin: Musk starting to come through. Ooh! Clove! Dry on skin: Musk, clove, a little teeny tiny bit of dead leafy floral. Almost didn't try this because I didn't like the scent from the bottle. But now, yum!

In the bottle: Inhaling I get Vetiver and frankincense. Medicinal. Then I get musk. Shook up the bottle and tried again. Mmm more blended now and much less medicinal. Wet on skin: Dark resinous musk. Lavender. Spices. Dry on skin: Spices are coming out to the forefront. It's so well blended I am having a hard time making out individual scents. Maybe some of the orchid? Just seems like a deep, dark, earthy, resinous, spicy musk with a teeny hint of floral. Loving it. Tried it out again today since I liked it so much last night. Put it on around 10 or 11am -- by 2pm I can get only faint whiffs of it lingering on my inside wrist. Dry on sweatshirt: Yes, I could still smell it this morning on my sweatshirt neck from last night's application -- I had to do some dog emergencies this morning so I just threw on the first thing I found, which was of course what I wore last night. YUM. OMG YUM. And STRONG. This will be a FABULOUS scent locket oil!! On the sweatshirt I can smell the currant and maybe some fruit gums. Love it. Glad I ordered two more bottles just in case.

In the Imp: Musky patchouli. Wet on Skin: Dark sweet musk. Patchouli adding some spice. Dry on Skin: Honey? Honey coated musk. Yum. A bit of spice. I can't smell the florals. This was on my wish list and I got it today as a frimp. Might have to get a bottle now!! ADDED March 16: This one is all musky myrrh honey with a teeny bit of a boozy note and some deep dark patchouli bottom notes. The tuborose sweetens up the top notes a bit I think. I can't smell any of the geramium. Oh wait. As it dries, the geranium comes out more. Ok, now it's HELLO geranium musk. Honey is gone. I cry now.
-
In the Imp: Pure almond. The kind of almond that smells like synthetic cherry. The kind I was hoping it would not be. Wet on Skin: Still pure almond. Dry on Skin: Either my nose was beaten into submission (hey, I'm the TOP!) or the almond is disappearing. No cinnamon. Actually I can't smell anything on that wrist now. Maybe a faint vanilla whisper.

Where is my order? What is Click N Ship? How long does this take?
twilighteyes replied to Snow White's topic in BPAL FAQs
My understanding is that if you use CC through CCNOW, your bank account gets charged when the lab picks up your order and starts to process it. Usually my CNS is a couple weeks out at that point (depending on whether or not there are back orders in my list.) I JUST got a CNS for an order placed 1/24 (that had first smut, then lunar eclipse and love's philosophy backordered) just to give an idea of turnaround time for right now. As Delerium said, go check out the CNS thread to see when people ordered who are now getting their CnS. A CnS is e-mailed to the e-mail you gave the lab (through PayPal or CCNOW) and is sent from the USPS. Usually the CNS is sent when the postage is purchased online, not when the package goes out. The package could be mailed the next day. -
In the bottle: Sweet floral. A little creamy. Maybe some honeysuckle. Can not smell any stargazer or carnation (two of my favorite cut flowers besides non-hot house roses.) Ethereal. Wet on skin: Now it's just sweet floral, no longer creamy. Very close to the honeysuckle that grows along my driveway. Very faint and ethereal still. Dry on skin: Honeysuckle. Faint. Verdict: Hmmm undecided. I got it because it had been sold out and then more were found and I was ordering anyway. Just wanted to see what the fuss was about. Will need to test once more, might be something to swap.

I Married a Vampire from Planet X
twilighteyes replied to GypsyRoseRed's topic in Retail Exclusive Oils
In the bottle: Hm. Sweetish musk with a hint of fruity floral. Can't smell any leather, clove, or cinnamon. Wet on skin: Still sweet but the musk warms up a little and becomes spicier. Dry on skin: Spicy yet somehow sweet musk and leather. I could smell it still when I was at work (applied before going in) but not by the time I got home. I was training some other people that day and they were asking me what I was wearing. I felt goofy saying it was "I Married a Vampire from Planet X". But hey, I have purple-red streaks in my hair, people expect me to be weird. Bought one more bottle -- haven't decided if I'm going to use it as a back up or trading fodder yet. Further testing is required especially now that my first scent locked has arrived and am awaiting two more. -
Diary of a Lovestruck Teenage Cannibal
twilighteyes replied to GypsyRoseRed's topic in Retail Exclusive Oils
In Bottle: Nutty sweet fruit, almost a little cloying - like something has turned. Wet: The same. Dry: This is turning my stomach. And I *love* foody scents. MUST WASH OFF. I'll have to put it away and try again in a few weeks at a different time of the month. -
I ordered this at the same time as my Teenage Cannibal and Vampire from Planet-X. It came presented in the lovely black velvet BPAL bag with a silver stamped imp cavorting on the front. In Bottle: slighty fruity dark musky resin, maybe a whiff of patchouli upon exhaling Wet: pretty much the same. Dry: yum. yum. yum. I had to keep smelling my wrist. It reminds me vaugely of Lush Icon but a little smokier. Fruity yet dark musky resinous patchouli. Sticks around for a good long time. I ordered two more bottles.

So I was late ordering my yules -- didn't order them until the LAST POSSIBLE SECOND (seriously) and haven't had a chance to go through them all yet. I've just kind of sniffed the bottle and then put them away. I ordered all of them at once, so trying to sniff all of them in one sitting just makes my nose shut down. So anyway, they've been aging for a month exactly. I received them on 1/24. Just finally got around to trying this one. Obviously this is the 2007 version. In Bottle: Can hardly smell anything. Maybe a little sweet floral. On the green side. Wet: Green sweet floral. Dry: zOMG. Sweet vanilla with a tiny bit of spiciness and maybe a tiny bit of almond -- but not the almond that smells like cherry to me. This is more of an actual nuttiness. There is a slight hint of floral. I want to say that this reminds me of the Snowcake spray perfume that I purchased from the Lush Forum Only sale. YUM! I immediate had to try it in the scent locket. Scent Locket: Exactly the same as dry on my skin. My skin doesn't seem to mutate scents very much. It disappeared from my skin after about 4 hours but I can still get whiffs of it from my hair and of course from the scent locket, even though it's cold right now. (not wearing it.) A KEEPER. I am so sad I didn't try it sooner!!

Recs for Role-Playing Games (RPG), LARP and Cosplay
twilighteyes replied to StormtrooperPrincess's topic in Recommendations
For the scientist: I haven't tried it or smelled it, but Kataniya, The Clockwork Woman in the Carnaval looked a little steampunk. Some of the reviews indicate that it does indeed smell metallic, but of course it depends on your chemistry. Someone else in the review thread for Kataniya mentioned Bed of Nails (but that is not easy to get!) Neo-Tokyo is mentioned on Scent Scribbles as having a metallic scent but that was discontinued almost a year ago. In fact most of the ones with metallic notes listed on Scent Scribbles are LEs. Maybe Agnes Nutter? She has rusty nails! gunpowder, charred wood, smoke... maybe a scientist who blows things up? Could always be layered with something. Togruda gunner: Hmmm. Enraged Orangutan musk has rainforesty stuff in it. Are Orangutan's considered alien?? "Five dark, aggressive, furious musks with ambergris bouquet, Malaysian rainforest plant extracts, black amber and orange peel." Machu Picchu is "Sweet tropical fruits burst through deep, wet rainforest boughs, enormous steamy blossoms, over thin mountaintop breezes, mingled with the soft, rich golden scent of Peruvian amber." Manila is "A tropical, humid, lush scent, with a faint echo of Pacific breezes, jungle blossoms, and deep wet woods. Sampaguita blossoms, banana leaf, palm, and narra." Let us know what you decide on! -

weird, I can't smell any anise whatsoever. Just lavender. Lavender/Anise is one of my most popular soaps too. ha.
