Samhain '09 On the skin: Leather? I don't remember there being leather in Samhain!! Wow, on my skin this is a manly yet smooth leather with a bit of evergreen. And maybe some apples... I still have no idea why I smell leather in this, but it would definitely be excellent on the right man. I think I need to try and track down a bottle for the SO!

On the skin: Quite musky with some floral. I am also getting a fruity something that reminds me slightly of Midwinter's Eve/plum... Quite sweet! This one can get quite strong, so only a tiny bit is needed for the musky floral plum goodness. I used to love this scent, but for some odd reason, I don't like it quite as much anymore. I am afraid that this is going to go off to sales... -ETA- I just couldn't help reacquiring this one for some reason. Definitely still musky with plum and floral notes. It just isn't a scent for me. Very pretty and yummy, but it just isn't me.

On the skin: soft green woods with some musk! I think this would smell excellent on the right man! After a bit on me it kinda starts to smell..... Like flat lemon lime soda? With a bit of green mixed in? Very strange. This one definitely doesn't play well on my skin, but it could be amazing on the right person!

On the skin: Whoa!! This is sweet! I am getting lots of grapefruit citrus and what I am guessing is sweet ginger/sugar cane. I would definitely eat something that smelled like this.... After a bit, the grapefruit fades a little and I get a slight bit of yummy vanilla and something slightly woodsy. Definitely a morpher. Whoa!! And then a bit later the grapefruit comes back with a vengeance!! And then it fades again. Now I get a sweetness with a hint of something that makes me think of rice wine. This scent is a crazy morpher that goes through every single note. Wow! Okay, now it is starting to take on a sunscreen smell. Strange, there isn't any coconut that I normally get with this certain smell. Must be the vanilla that is turning slightly plasticky on my skin. *sigh* This scent reminds me of Tissue and other light Shungas. Hmmmmm, sadly this one isn't for me.

I am surprised that I haven't reviewed this one before. It was one of the first GC's that I ever fell in love with!! On the skin: This smells like yummy yummy spicy chai with honey. Good stuff! Becomes even spicier on the dry down. Mmmmmmmm!
-
At first this scent smelled kinda... woodsy? Must be the balsam. When things start to dry down, this turns into a LOVELY vanilla wood. It is amazingly sweet and light! The SO isn't here to give his opinion, but I have a feeling that this is going to be one of his favorites!! Wow! This slightly reminds me of Bow and Crown of Conquest.... After a half hour or so, the wood starts to disappear and now I am getting some of the leather. Mmmm! Vanilla and leather!! This leather isn't in your face though. It just supplies some lovely depth to the vanilla. Wow! I have fallen in love with two blends in a week (Cthulhu in Love and Ü). How is this possible?? I have a feeling that this is going to smell amazing on the SO, but this scent to me is very gender neutral.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?
ami226 replied to Absinthe's topic in Recommendations
I would definitely second the recommendation for Al-Shairan (clove, peach and orange with cinnamon, patchouli and dark incense notes.) Or: Seraglio (Sweet almond and Mysor sandalwood enveloped by a heady veil of Bulgarian Rose, neroli, nutmeg, clove and orange peel.) --Might be a bit sweeter than what you are looking for.... Coral Snake (Snake Oil with blood orange, red apple, lemon peel, plumeria, and gardenia.) --Again, this one might not have the spice you are looking for... The Maltese Cross of Sanctus Germanus (Golden amber, blood orange, ambergris, lilac, frankincense, and agarwood.) -
The Malignant Dreams of Cthulhu in Love
ami226 replied to Ravenclaw79's topic in Retail Exclusive Oils
Looking at the notes, there is no reason I should love this scent. I just had to get it since I wanted to make a ThinkGeek purchase anyways, and it was Cthulhu... I just received the bottle a few hours ago, so here it goes... This blend is amazing. I have no idea why, and there really isn't any one note that I can pick out in this scent. It is just amazing. I think I can catch a slight whiff of chocolate, but overall, the blending of this scent was really well done. It is dark, yet sweet, yet commanding.... Where has this scent been all my life? On my skin it is sooooooo sexy. (Well, at least that is how it smells to me). I usually can't do any scents with a water/aquatic note, but this one doesn't seem to count as an aquatic anyways. There are very few scents I have found that are instant love, but this is definitely one of them. Yep, I totally believe in love at first sight (or smell....) now. -
Whoa!! Major sandalwood with floral! This hasn't turned into the suntan lotion smell that other dragon blood scents have done on my skin.... Yay! This scent is VERY strong. Might have put just a little too much on. After a bit longer, this scent turns to pure dry woody sandalwood on my skin. I like sandalwood, but I think that I prefer it blended with other notes during the drydown stage rather than on its own.

At first on my skin, this reminds me of the Girl Scout Thin Mints cookies. Not sure where the hint of chocolate is coming from, but it is almost a perfect duplicate.... Crazy! Eeeek! After only a minute or so, this scent turns quite plasticky on my skin. Nooooo! Why, vanilla, why?? After a bit longer, the plastic fades and I am left with a pure mint chocolate that is really more mint now than chocolate. This scent intrigues me, but sniffing the mint so much is giving me a bit of a headache. Will have to see how it lasts in the long run. *EDIT* Hee hee! I just read through a few other reviews and am glad to see that I am not the only one who smelled Thin Mints. Girl Scout Cookies FTW! *EDIT2* Sadly, this one turns kinda icky after a half hour or so.....

This one is very.... baked goods/powdered sugar on my skin. I feel like I would love to eat something like this, but it doesn't really fit in right on my skin.
-
Bubblegum! I am getting major bubblegum from this scent! I think that it is just the combination of fruit and sugar, but this scent turns into instant Bubbleyum. After a bit, I smell something a bit citrusy with a bite. Ouch! Sadly this one is a major no on my skin.

On my skin, the chocolate disappears almost instantly and I am left with a sickly sweetness that must be the tobacco and the black musk. Or it might just be the black musk. Whoa!! It is insane!! I am not sure yet if I like this one. I think that I will keep it around a bit and test it to see what happens. -ETA- I just had to try this one again, and still no luck. The black musk/tobacco combo just turns so sickly sweet and smokey on my skin.

'07 version Eek! Bubblegum plums? The plum part is so strong though that this scent is giving me a major headache.... Definitely not for me.

On the skin: A sweet, yet slightly fruity floral honey. A strange combo, very different than the honey florals of Flower Moon. This blend kinda confuses me. I am not sure why, but I just keep thinking: Honey...? Yes, but something else.... Plum? Definitely yes, but smells kinda sickly sweet with the honey.... Rose? That must be it! Floral! Wow, it really is a mix of all these. Crazy! My nose just doesn't know what to think! Or what it's smelling.... Later, this blend loses the strange honey scent and becomes pure plum and floral. Not too bad, but something in this scent just keeps making me go: Wha?!?!
-
On the skin: Ginger ale!! This smells exactly like ginger ale on my skin! A bit later, I get a huge burst of burning. Smells like ginger ale that has been left on the stove waaaaaaay too long. I am afraid that I can't stand burning scents.....
-
On the skin: Cucumber and woods! Quite interesting. Definitely very earthy and kinda summery. Later on: Whoa, this starts to smell like a salad. Yep, a tasty salad. My skin does strange things with this scent....
-
On the skin: Cocoa with hint of woods and smoke. After a bit, the smoke takes over on my skin and it is difficult for me to smell anything else. Sadly, this one is heading to swaps.
-
Hello, mint! And something that smells like burning... Ouch.... I am afraid that this makes me think of one of those smokers that pops peppermints all the time to try and mask the smoke smell. I am afraid that my skin made this scent go kinda crazy and that it is definitely going to swaps.
-
On the skin: Oh, I should have read the reviews before putting this on my skin. Those are some major nuts in here. Smells like cookies with nuts and maybe a little cherries... I am afraid that I can't do nut scents at all...
-
On the skin: Whoa, I am getting some major soap! That is all I can smell....
-
Something herbally and woodsy. I think there might be something minty and pineish as well, but it is very faint. It also kind of smells like there is some kind of nut in here as well. I am not sure what to think about this one...
-
On the skin: Whoa! So sweet! Whoa, that is honey! And sugar? And some sort of.... slight incensey note? Interesting... I think I am liking this one!
-
On the skin: Some spice that reminds me of clove as well as frankincense. And definitely some orange. Reminds me of Zenobia (or Osiris v4?!?) with a splash of orange. After a bit, the woods/clove part take a bitter turn (that never happened on me with Zenobia and Osiris...) Very bitter. I am not sure what to think about this one.... Evil skin chemistry. -EDIT- Oh! The bitter goes away after a bit and now the sweet orange and lovely woods are just AMAZING! Might keep this one around after all.
