    Chaos Theory III: Strange Attractors

Each bottle of Chaos Theory is truly unique, a fragrant fractal, and exercise in the joy of chance and uncertainty! Each is a one-of-a-kind, utterly random combination of scents, the composition of which is based on whim, mood and gut instinct. <- This is the dance of the happy risk taker My latest order arrived this morning. I only ordered 2 CT's because like someone else said on this thread, we're not exactly drowning in cash and most orders get LOTS of planning but you've gotta live dangerously. I'm SO glad I did :-) 1st CT : CXXVII (127) Miskatonic University! Only better My God, i'm so incredibly happy! I gave away my Miskatonic University quite a while ago because although it smelt beautiful it was just a touch too sweet and heavy and most foody notes turn to plasticky badness on me because of my hateful chemistry. This is the only really foody scent i've ever tried that doesn't. I can't believe my luck!! It has a very subtle coffee undercurrent which only seems to come to the fore every other sniff. The rest of the time is a creamy vanilla similar to Antique Lace with the salty tang of Midway and the gentle suggestion of aged woods. I'm in love and my wee bottle is going to be loved, cared for and tucked up in bed next to me every night (hubby can go to the sofa) and when the inevitable happens I shall mourn it's passing with weeping and the wringing of hands! To sum up 2nd CT : CLXVI (166) Wow! As gentle and soft as my first CT is, this one's brutal and in your face (at first) before settling down into......something very similar to Laudanum. I think I can smell nutmeg and sassafrass. At first whiff it's almost indistinguishable from Laudanum which is fine with me, it's one of my favourites but whereas Laudanum truly is the scent of blissful catatonia slipping over you in an opium den while a beautiful oriental girl fans you with ostritch feathers this blend wants to kick your ass!! It's Laudanum after it mated with Geek! After its opening it morphs into the heavy sinister black smoke of Djinn and the grittiness of Brimstone and I started to panic. It was almost eye watering and disturbing in its intensity but as quickly as it morphed into naughty badness it's changed again..... Now it's reminding me of the dry down of both Medicine Show and Geek but with the pipe smoke and tobacco notes that I got from Herr Drosselmeyer and a touch more leather. There's also a vanilla type note. I really don't know much about these things but I think it might be opponax? That's vanillaey, right? Feel free to correct me It reminds me of when Carnaval Noir rolled through town and Beth seemed to go through a leather and wood note frenzy (which rocked!) This blend is INTENSE!! I suppose if I had to nutshell it, it gives me a mental image of if Satan decided to open a Carnaval of his own but sent one of his demon women to run it. This is the smell that would drift up when the satanic carnaval popped into life To sum up

    Obatala

Obatala is beautiful but i'd urge anyone who didn't get on with it to give it a second try! I received my bottle from the lab about a month ago and when I first applied it it went to plastic nastiness stright away and I was sad For some reason i've just tried it again before bed and it's absolutly beautiful, soft and all encompassing. It somehow manages to smell cool whilst simultaneously conjuring images of a sizzling beach. I'm not getting the aquatic notes that many people are and i've never smelt Milk Moon so I can't compare it but to me this smells like a less in your face Spooky. It has a feather light mintiness serving as a perfect undercurrent to the fresh coconut. It's nothing like the heavy sweet coconut in Elegba. I agree with the people who likened it to the Snow White coconut note although it is a bit more obvious. Maybe somewhere between the Snow White coconut and the Black Pearl coconut. Their is one downside to it though. I feel REALLY hungry since applying it and i'm about to go and have a bounty bar

    Samhain

Without a doubt my favourite smell ever! Not my favourite bpal smell but my favourite smell in the whole wide world!!! I'm an autumn baby and it is the most delightful of seasons so when I saw the description of this I thought "that's me" but was too slow to get it, stoopid Den So, I picked myself up and dusted myself off and sat in wait in front of eBay until someone decided they didn't like it. I got some!!! I was SOOO happy This is bottled autumn. It's walking through woods while season reddened leaves spiral to the ground, it's curling up with hot herbal tea while your dog snoozes on your lap, it's getting ready for your hallow's eve and all the excitement that brings but it also possesses a certain melancholy quality. Not in a bad way I hasten to add. You know how sometimes you don't feel happy and you're leaning towards sad, you just don't know why? But in a way you can take comfort from it? I get that feeling from Samhain. On me, it's a very warming smell and quite strong in a woodsy way but dry wood, not earthy as such. I also got quite a herby scent. It has a large bonfire element to it. It's long lasting but not strong. I find it so hard to describe things in the proper way, i'm sorry. All I can use are the images they conjure up so i'm sorry if this isn't much help All I can say is, this isn't an oil you want, it's an oil you NEED! I can't wait 'til I can get it again, i'll be putting in a rather massive order I wish this was an all year round scent but then it probably wouldn't feel as special. It gives me something to look forward to I suppose *walks off kicking the ground and grumbling like a 6 year old who isn't allowed to go out to play *

    Bliss

Oh for the love of GOD, how could you do this to me!!!! I only dabbed on a spot and now i've eaten both my arms!! I'm typing with my nose! Seriously, this is incredible. The initial waft of chocolate as you apply it is genuinely mouthwatering and I agree with the people who detected a dash of caramel and nuts, after a while I think both these notes come through. This may only make sense to the Brits on the forum but this smells exactly like Heinz tinned chocolate puddings taste (if you can't get these in the U.S make a British friend quick, they're heavenly!) to the point where I applied this oil from my imp and almost immediately had to get my husband to drive to the shops and buy me one I was genuinely concerned that my puppy might have a finger off when she smelt this on me (she loves choccy, just like her mum ) but instead she curled up on me with her head nestled under my chin so she could smell my neck and went to sleep. I suppose the milkiness and cocoa much have been really comforting for her as she's not well right now. Well, I like it, hubby likes it and (furry) baby likes it. I think there'll be a purchase next payday

    Laudanum

This is the most comforting smell I can imagine. The power of suggestion is indeed a powerful thing so it might just be because of what the powers that be chose to name this oil (woo, few too many uses of the word power there ) but i'm currently battling an addiction problem and when I wear this my skin stops itching and I can finally sleep without feeling like I have spiders crawling all over me. It is medicinal to smell but not in a harsh way, more like the comfort you felt as a child when your mother kissed your newest graze better and added ointment. It soon calms down to something softer, a haze around you which you hardly know is there apart from the glow of wellbeing and peace. I can understand completely the previous observations of transportation to another time. You can almost feel the opium smoke swirling through your hair. I try not to though My favourite night time oil.

    Spellbound

I've received two imps of this and I really can't imagine why I haven't bought a bottle yet! Money I guess. This is my first review so please be gentle with me Here goes ... ... ... When I receive imps I always look the scent up so I know what i'm looking for when I sniff. When I saw that this had roses in it I though "Oh no, it'll smell like an octogenarians knicker draw!" but I tried it anyway and was SO pleasantly suprised. This is the most beautiful soft scent. The roses are there but they mingle with the other ingredients in such a way that it's like smelling a memory. This scent to me is happy times, before I had to be a grown up, when every minute of the day was like morning. It's going into an alternative shop to buy light cotton scarves and silver rings, it's getting your first tattoo, it's oiling your first leather jacket, it's many things to many people I suspect but well worth a try, even as an imp. It certainly brightened up my day
