    Spooky

Oooh boy, Spooky smells like a chocolate shop at Christmas. I don't get so much rum, mostly chocolate, mint, and coconut. It is also a very nice scent to wear when you're queasy. Supposedly mint scents are used in aromatherapy to settle the stomach, and I ain't no aromatherapist, but I sure am hungover. All my foody scents nauseated me this morning, but Spooky is light and delicate enough that I wore it today and definitely felt perked up. -Rae

    Aquatics

Danube is lovely. I'm not even an aquatics-type, but it took me a while to decide to swap it! -Rae

What do bottles and labels look like?

Pshaw. It's a very nice bottle. Pretty, but not overly girly. And trust me, it's far nicer to have a guy who pays some sort of attention to how he smells, instead of some guy who is too macho to like, bathe. -Rae

    Does BPAL stain?

I have no idea if this wil work on oil, but apparently hydrogen peroxide *dissolves* dried blood, really fizzy and mad-scientist-like (I was shown this by an ER nurse who was stitching up my hand, but I imagine it'd work for "other sorts" of bloodstains that women get- ahem). So anyway, since BPAL is organic, perhaps hydrogen peroxide will dissolve it off clothes too? -Rae

The Best Scents for Home, a Room, the Car...

I made a fragrance spray out of Dia and spritzed the inside of my car with it a while back- it was delightful, and lasted a while. I just got an oil burner, and have been testing it out- Queen of Spades is lovely and potent. Burning half an imp for 15 minutes has heavily scented my entire house! Entropy is nice too- a little herby and spicy. -Rae
  6. I agree with hypothermya; Samhain was very wafty and strong. I loved it! Red Queen, Jack, and Vice were also very noticeable on me. -Rae
  7. I personally think Kali and Dia de los Muertos don't have much in common. I was just smelling Bruja today, though, and it struck me that Bruja has a very similar dry, smoky base scent. Paired up with a mellow floral, it could mimic Dia quite well. -Rae
  8. Rage is also a great dark incensy one! Mystery is a little more perfumey, like incense and floral perfume combined, but still noticebaly smoky. -Rae

How long do bottles & imps last?

Oh man, I go through oils shamefully quick. I killed a 5ml of Samhain in two weeks. I am a slatherer though, and also like to drip a few drops onto my scalp. And I really like to smell my scents- not just a tiny bit, but noticeably, all day. -Rae

    Vice

In the bottle, it smelled mostly of mellow, rich chocolate- more of a milk chocolate than a dark one. Applied, a bit of the orange scent came through more, and even more upon drying- and yep, I smelled exactly like a chocolate orange! Good lord I love those things. The cherry was only slightly present for me. Awesome scent; I may have to get a big bottle. I've no idea how long the scent lasts, though...I can't smell it at all right now (6 hours after applying), but I had stir-fry for dinner so now everything smells like Szechuan sauce. -Rae

    Kali

I love, love, love Kali; it became my daily scent this summer, and I'll have to get a big bottle of it sometime! It's sweet, yet spicy; I think the main notes I get out of it are the wine, the spices and balsam, and a little bit of rose...but not enough to make it, y'know, rosy. Which is awesome. One of the most intense, sexy-in-a-fierce-way perfumes I've ever smelled. -Rae

    Katharina

Whoo, Katharina is a blast of bright, uplifting apricot and orange blossom. I don't so much smell the musk at all. It's vivid, invigorating and confident. Though it is also very very fruity- I had a hard time deciding to swap this, but wow, way too fruity for me. I never thought apricot could smell so nice, though. -Rae (edited for spelling)

    Eve

I definitely get a strong whiff of apple blossom form this one, as well as a bit of honey and rose. Definitely more fruity than floral, though. I actually had a hard time deciding -not- to keep this, as the apple blossom is such a nice note, but I'm not a floral or pure-fruit type. -Rae

    Naiad

I love lotus mightily, and can smell a teensy bit of it here, but mostly Naiad is just lavender, lavender, and more strong lavender! It would make a nice room scent, and would probably freshen up the air in a room quite well. But man, I cannot imagine liking how it smells on anyone. -Rae

    Maiden

The carnation scent really stands out to me in this one- it reminds me of the feeling of rubbing your face in a freshly-cut, still-dewy carnation bloom! (What, you've never done that?) The tea scent gives a lovely balance- like a bright, crisp morning where you've gotten just enough sleep and wake up before the alarm clock. Very nice, but not for people who don't like florals. -Rae

    Magdalene

A very nice, light rose scent, with a good base to it. Very feminine and delicate, it makes me think of white and light purple. Definitely not for people who don't like rose, though. -Rae

    Dragon's Eye

Wow, it's bright red! That's awesome. I'm mostly smelling only the lilac- not the Dragon's Blood at all. There's another very sweet, high-pitched note, which I guess could be the lily? A slightly sharp floral, but as far as I can smell, still mostly a classical floral. -Rae

    Fenris Wolf

Whoa- this smells just like Czernobog, except a little stronger and more earthy, and a little less spicy. Could almost be gender-neutral, but is leaning a bit towards masculine. I think I'll give it to Hypothermya's boyfriend...I'm sure she'll appreciate it. -Rae

    Severin

I definitely smell the tea and the leather here- to me, Severin is a very masuline, confident scent. It's also very "dry"- the colors I most associate with it are grey and black. I don't pick up any florals, or anything feminine in this scent at all- not at all right for me, but it'd be great for a really butch woman! -Rae

    Desire

Man, as much as I like apple and vanilla, -all- I can smell here is patchouli. This must go to a patchouli lover, and that would not be me. -Rae (edited to fix spelling)

    Queen of Sheba

Something in this blend made me seriously nauseous. It's quite strange. I believe it's the honey, but I couldn't even get to putting it on- just sniffed in the vial and put back down. It got swapped to a better owner. -Rae ADDED Dec. 6: Something about this scent makes me queasy. I've not yet isolated whether or not it's the honey or the almonds. It's a very warm, golden scent, but overwhelmingly so. I couldn't even birng myself to put it on my skin. -Rae

    Depraved

It's amazing how well one can pick out the elements in this one- first the patchouli, then the apricot. And they're blended so well! The patchouli is way too strong for me, though (I'm beginning to think I don't like patchouli.) -Rae

    Les Fleurs du Mal

Exactly what it says it is- rose, lilac, and I even smell the wisteria! Unfortunately, I don't like unmitigated floral, so this one'll be a Christmas present. -Rae
  24. zapevaj

    Lightning

Definitely a sharp-smelling scent. I agree with Rois that there's some citrus there; I'm tempted to say lemon or lime. I can see how it would be invigorating, but it doesn't smell at all like a perfume, so I can't see myself wearing it. interesting concept for a blend, though. -Rae

    Arcana

The essence of magickal enigmas and long-forgotten esoteric mysteries. Frankincense, rosemary, lavender, neroli, and verbena. I really wanted to like this, but it just won't work. I think the lavender is too strong for me, and coupled with the frankincense and lemon verbena, it's just pungent. I tend to like slightly warm-smelling scents, and this one is cold. If I had to assign it a color, I'd call it light yellow or violet (if that means anything outside of my own head!) Definitely a nice herbal blend, but totally not for me. -Rae
